Imagine if Skye had just let Ward die when Garrett made Mike stop his heart. Imagine how many problems just wouldn't have happened in the later seasons

I like Fitz in Seasons 4 and 5
I am a big MCU fan and I love most of the main characters in the movies and shows. Tony, Steve, Thor, Natasha, and Star-Lord are the top examples. But Fitz is one of my favorites on the TV side and I read a post earlier today about how it is troubling that Fitz became so monstrous in the Framework when the only thing changed was that he had no Jemma. I always thought that was because Aida edited things so that Fitz felt the same love for her that the main one felt for Jemma which means that he would follow Aida anywhere like the main one does for Jemma as well. Also his behavior is also at least partially edited by her, the fact that he had no Jemma isn't the only reason that he turned out so bad but also because of what he had in her place, bad influences that shaped him for the worse. I don't think the show said if Fitz doesn't have Jemma he will become a Nazi murderer. Also addressing the Devil Complex. I understand the backlash to Fitz in this episode and if you hate him because of it I can understand, I like Daisy in it as well. I just thought that some of the anger that Fitz's Season 2 injury shouldn't count here because it was 3 years ago is a little unfair. It isn't just season 2, Fitz's trauma over everything happened in Season 4, the six months of solitary confinement prior to being brought forth to the future added on to the already damaged brain is what helped lead to him undergoing a psychotic break. Honestly he and everyone else should have gotten therapy at some point in the show but this is a show so no it doesn't happen. I looked at his behavior as very morally grey behavior (as the rift needed to be sealed but the way that it got to be sealed was icky to say the least) which I found very interesting, but I understand as to why other people and characters saw it as morally black. Just the ramblings of a big fan. Also Coulson(Happily allowing his students to be taken away by HYDRA if they were Inhuman) and May(Completely assisted in all of his experiments on said Inhumans) did awful things in the Framework too but it isn't mentioned for an obvious reason the real Coulson and May wouldn't do those things same for Fitz. Also the changes in City's life in the Framework would have started much earlier than anyone else considering his dad stuck around in this reality whereas everyone else would have been adults when the change took place except for Mace since we wouldn't know when he underwent Terrigenesis in this reality.

Just watched 5x09
So Kasius has suddenly decided he's a goa'uld, complete with delusions of godliness, resurrecting people, big speeches that give the sassy humans ample opportunity to stall and defeat him, dramatic roars, killing his slaves, limitless expendable soldiers taken down far to easily with tau'ri sorry what human weapons, and a personal defence shield.
Enoch survived the episode hallelujah I was terrified ball lady would kill him
Instead ball lady got killed yassss
My love for him grows with every episode
NO FAM DO NOT BULLY THE 'NOCH IT'S JUST HIS CHARMING QUIRKS HE'S NOT ANNOYING
TESS IS BACK FROM TAHITI YASSSS
Daisy convincing may what a great mum she is/was/will be is the most adorable and wholesome thing she should know she's her firstborn you bet your ass May gave her a curfew as soon as she came on the bus
The thought of Daisy without powers is kinda weird and terrifying it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world but I'd really miss all the awesome scenes
Kasius seems to constantly underestimate Daisy trust me my oddly goatlike smurf she's onto her fifth season of being the main character in terms of plot most of the time she can survive your pathetic manhunt
Seriously why does kasius remind me of a goat
I can't be the only one who sees it
The Mack Yoyo Flint family is so glorious
PEBBLES
Also Gunner came back and that was such a sweet lil thing
Fitz boy you need to let go of the you can't change time thing you might have more scientific evidence or whatever it but stop thinking about it it just depresses you
Ok seriously they've brought gravitonium back they've got to address the hand that came o ut of it after Hall fell in
I love how they're setting up the rest of the season in s4 they did the same but it was less obvious what was coming there's more anticipation this time
I've figured out what's so annoying about Deke apart from the whole relationship with Daisy hinting thing
Nothing's ever his fault its always the crazy humans who obviously don't know anything and who have been through nothing compared to me no you should be THANKING me for turning you over for slavery and indirectly causing the death of a very nice and attractive friend of yours UGHHHHHH why do you have to go save your friends don't you get it you should just let them die its how we roll around here GUYS SERIOUSLY why are you hitting me you should ever grateful I turned your daughter over to Kasius now tend to my wound
It doesn't help that it reminds me of Ward trying to convince a mid panic attack Fitz that he saved them by dropping them into the ocean and giving him brain damage
At least Ward had more reason to be an asshole
THE PROMO
Old Kassy's lookin pissed
He doesn't look so good
Seriously Daisy so you really think Philly Son of Coul Dad Supreme is gonna leave you behind nah he'll ice you and drag you through himself
KASSY GET THE FUCK OF MY BABES YOU HURT ANY OF THEM YOU CRAZY MANGLED ASS GOA'ULD GOAT SMURF AND YOU'LL BE SORRY
And so the fun resumes

Since the blog chose to tag this with "Leo Fitz" without "anti leo fitz" or "Leo fitz negativity" or any other filters fitz-fans may use, counterpoints to confessions must be welcome. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.
It's fine that people hate the character. We all have a right to our own opinions and have different favorite and least favorite characters. I'm not going and sit here and say everyone should like him or no one should hate him. My objection is the blatant Alphonso Mackenzie erasure in this. He calls Fitz in his stuff all the time, as well as Radcliffe's actions in top of it (Fitz had nothing to do with Radcliffe reprogramming AIDA to go rogue and in fact was the only one who considered it. Everyone else was ready to blame the Darkhold and didn't even want to investigate the programming or Radcliffe. Yet no one got called out for that negligence. Not saying Fitz should have worked on them, saying that the blame for it going out of hands lies squarely on Radcliffe's shoulders. The LMD's that Fitz was directly involved in programming brought no harm and performed their functions.) Mack calls everyone out when he doesn't agree with them, including Fitz. And he isn't the only one. Fitz has been called out for his actions as much as any other character, including whoever anon's fave is (I could probably guess).
It's important to remember that people with histories of brain damage and mental illness identify with the character of Leo Fitz. As do autistics. Many protect themselves on this platform by filtering tags and should not see such vitriol thrown at a character they hold dear. If you don't want the commentary, tag wisely.

Another bit of guilt and self flagellation I noticed in the most recent episode was how he ate in the prison without any enjoyment. Granted, it could just be that the food sucks in prison. But we've seen how much Fitz loves food in previous seasons, so him not eating at the diner and then shoveling his food down without a second thought later on goes to show that he no longer allows himself to enjoy food and was probably only eating in prison to keep up his energy to try to find the team.
He also bangs his (already brain damaged) head against the wall when he's frustrated, thinks that he is the one who did something to the team and admits it to his jailers without any evidence, goes back on his initial assertion that the team wouldn't leave him (and goes so far as to think that the universe itself is keeping him from Jemma), and even cuts the second Hunter hug short (so he can focus on getting to the future). The only moments he seemed to let himself have something just for him, was when he drew monkey heads (to mark the passage of time) and had an extended (first) hug with Hunter.
We need to talk about Fitz's self-destructive tendencies
This is something that has been dwelling on my mind for a long time now and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has noticed this. One of the things that most called my attention on s05e05 was this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have seen a lot of commentary on how cute it was that Jemma and Fitz pay close attention to each other, or on how considerate it was of Fitz to reassure Jemma with a backrub even though he is need of comfort, etc. What I failed to see, however, was commentary on the main point of this dialogue: Fitz is not eating.
Of course, this could be a stomach bug, or maybe he already ate before that, or maybe he’s really just not hungry. But I believe the writers wouldn’t have focused on this dialogue unless it told the viewers something about the development and the personality of Fitz as a character.
Fitz’s tendency to self-destruct (or his lack of regard for his own self, if you would like to put it that way) has been showed to us ever since AoS’s first season, long before he gave Jemma the air supply back at the bottom of the ocean. Actually, I could be wrong, but the first time I remember seeing it was in this scene in FZZT:
Tumblr media
Jemma has been infected by a so-far deadly alien virus that she can’t find a cure for, and still, Fitz breaks quarantine by entering the same environment as her, without knowing for sure whether he would be infected or not (the infection only happened through touch, of course, but there was no guarantee that Jemma wouldn’t accidentally bump on him or that he wouldn’t be infected by the stuff Jemma touched). Even if the risk of infection wasn’t imminent, being on the same environment as Jemma was already risky enough, especially if they failed to find a cure and she died, which would emit an electric pulse. This was long before Fitzsimmons had a relationship, and possibly before Fitz even realized he had romantic feelings for Jemma. He simply put his safety and health on the line in favor of standing by his best friend and helping her.
Then, there was the whole ‘trapped-in-the-bottom-of-the-ocean’ situation that resulted on Fitz actively sacrificing his own life to save Jemma’s. When he gave her the last of their air supply, he wasn’t counting on the possibility that she would be able to save him. For all he knew, his distress signal to S.H.I.E.L.D. had gone unheard and they would still be stuck in the middle of the ocean once the pod’s window exploded. He gave the air supply to Jemma believing that this was the last he’d ever see of her, believing that he was going to die and that she would be the only one to survive. This is the first time Fitz actually laid down his life, instead of just risking it, and prepared to die for a greater good (which in this case, was Jemma).
I am sure there are some other examples that I am missing right now (I am due to another AoS rewatch), but my mind keeps going back at Fitz’s self-destructive behavior once Jemma is taken by the Monolith in season 3. I’m sure you all remember how fast he was to jump right into danger in order to find a small clue that COULD lead to Jemma:
Tumblr media
And his reaction once he became hopeless at finding Jemma was to literally shoot at and throw himself on a dangerous Monolith whose properties were completely unknown at the time:
Tumblr media
For all Fitz and the rest of the team knew, this Monolith could have swallowed him to his death (no one knew what had happened to Jemma then, and the only clue Fitz had found regarding the Monolith was literally the word “death”), and yet Fitz doesn’t hesitate to punch and yell at it in sheer frustration. For me, this is the apex of Fitz’s self-destruction tendencies - before, when he and Jemma were trapped in the pod, he laid down his life for a greater reason, which was saving her; now, as he shoots, punches and yells at a dangerous, alien Monolith, there is no greater reason, no greater good. For all Fitz knew, there was a slight chance the Monolith would take him to Jemma, but the chance that it would kill him was higher than that. And Fitz was ready for it. He would rather die than live in a world without Jemma, which is something he has made clear several times in the show:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Afterwards, when Fitz finds out that the monolith is a portal, he doesn’t hesitate to jump at it, without warning the team about it first or taking the necessary precautions, even if he doesn’t know what will be on the other side or if it leads somewhere at all:
Tumblr media
These are just some examples of how Fitz has repeatedly thrown his life on the line, not only for the sake of Jemma, but also on other occasions that he deemed to be more important than himself. Some could say that he is just altruistic and selfless (which he actually is), but that does not mean that his tendency to put other people’s lives (especially Jemmas’) before his own is not dangerous and potentially threatening. Jemma goes so far as repproaching him for this habit in season 4, which leads me to believe that not only she’s very aware that Fitz has a tendency towards self-destruction, but she is also actively trying to prevent him from risking his life. Maybe his toxic relationship with his father and his obvious worry about not being useful and meaningful enough for the team have something to do with his lack of regard for his own self. Let’s not forget that, at the beginning of season 2, Fitz is afraid he’s no longer useful to the team anymore:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also his self-loathing for “not being useful” in the same episode (s02e04):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And back to season 5, there’s also Fitz belief that the team has abandoned him and that he is a danger to them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course Fitz’s guilt complex, self-loathing and self-destructive tendencies wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by Jemma for too long, and her worry for him is evident in this scene:
Tumblr media
As much as Jemma believes Fitz wouldn’t “do something drastic”, she still sounds as if she’s trying to convince herself, rather than May. She knows that Fitz is vulnerable and more in need of comfort than ever, after everything that happened in the Framework. She also knows how much he tends to blame himself for things, and how ready he is to put his own life on the line without a second thought, which makes this dialogue even more eye-opening:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There can be several interpretations as to what Jemma means with “or not”. Maybe she knows Fitz would end up in jail, and therefore wouldn’t be able to live his life to the fullest. Maybe she thinks he would do “something drastic” (like she mentioned before) at the team’s absence (and her own) and end up getting himself killed. Her worry that Fitz might end up getting himself killed is not out of hand, given his history of endangering his life for the sake of others. If when they were together at the diner, Fitz wasn’t eating (I see this as a form of self-punishment from his part, for everything that he blames himself for), I can’t wait to see Jemma’s reaction once she finds out that Fitz froze himself for 74 years with no guarantee that he would be able to get to her and the reast of the team. Because let’s keep in mind that he had just met this alien guy who sent his friends to the future and immediately trusted him to keep him frozen and alive in space for 74 years, with to guarantee that he would wake up at the right time, at the right place, or that he would even wake up at all. I think it’s possible to notice Fitz’s uncertainty and fear about this plan when he’s inside the chamber, about to be frozen:
Tumblr media
No, I don’t believe Fitz actually wants to die, but he has stated more than once his disinterest in a life that doesn’t have Jemma in it and he has showed several times that he’s ready to lay down his life in favor of others’. His self-destructive tendency is something that has been recurrent in the show since the beginning, and it probably won’t disappear overnight, even after he reunites with Jemma and the rest of the team. He is clearly still haunted by his experience in the Framework and there are clear remaining traces of the Doctor in his personality. I am looking forward to see what the writers have in store for Fitz in this season, and if they will ever have someone sit this boy down and tell him that he is loved and that his life matters too much for him to keep risking it.
