Here’s what you need to pack for your next fishing trip
Fishing is an experience that can be a truly serene and enjoyable if done right by a fisherman.  It can be a good way to kill more than a couple of hours.  The ideal time for fish is summer time when you can breathe easy in your shorts and have some quiet alone time, or enjoy kicking back a few cold ones with your buddies from back in the day.  You can even take your son or your daughter with you on the fishing trip to experience the great and wonderful outdoors.
For a great fishingexperience, you need to have the right fishing gear, and more of it at that.  You never know when you might run out, so you need to have your gear well stocked before heading out.  Here’s what you need to have:
More Attractive Lures
The hook and worm usually does the trick most of the time, but for other times, you may want to pack something a little extra.  To attract the best fish and step up your numbers, you need attractive and shiny lures.  Complex lures shaped like smaller fish attract larger fish, and the ones you can buy by come with double hooks so you can reel in the fish with force without the fear of letting it go.
Extra Line
Line breaks are common in fishing.  If you have strong hooks and you finally hooked in that large and powerful bass, it might break the line if it struggles too hard.  The line can even get caught in floating logs or debris and break.  No fisherman likes it when their line breaks as they have to wind it up all over again.  It’s even worse if you run out of line, so be sure to pack extra in case you run out.
More Hooks
When it comes to fishing hooks, there are many types that you can choose from.  Each has its own strengths when it comes to catching particular kinds of fish.  There’s the traditional J hook, and then there’s the French hook.  If you use a hook that is inappropriately sized, and use it to catch a 100 pound carp rather than the stronger and heavier river bass, you might have a big problem.  .
Needle Nose Pliers
Speaking of hooks, there are times when they can get stuck in your hands if you try to pull them out of the fish by hand.  You’ll be in an instant world of pain when that happens.  For times like these, you better have some needle nose pliers to pry the hook free from the fish (or yourself!).
A Nail Cutter
Cutting the fishing line can be tricky work without the right kind of tools.  Sure, you could use a knife to cut it but then you would risk cutting the line’s thickness.  This could mean easily breakable line.  For precision cuts, use a nail cutter to cut the fishing line.

The Ultimate Guide on How to Catch Mahi Mahi
Tumblr media
Mahi Mahi is a surface-dwelling ray-finned fish found in off-shore temperate, tropical, and subtropical waters worldwide. Also widely called Dorado (not to be confused with Salminus brasiliensis, a fresh water fish) and dolphin, it is one of two members of the family Coryphaenidae, the other being the Pompano Dolphinfish. (source: Wikipedia)
The Mahi Mahi is known for its vivid blue, green, and yellow glow. They will change color in the water based on their intensity and instinct. They are like a swimming “Mood Ring”. Mahi Mahi have a long dorsal fin that extends from their head to their tail.
Where can I catch Mahi Mahi?
Mahi Mahi  typically found in waters with the temperatures between 20°C/68°F and 28°C/83 °F. Some of the most popular places where anglers go to catch Mahi Mahi are the Florida Keys, the Atlantic Coast of Florida, Costa Rica, Panama, Hawaii, and Baja, California.
Here in Stuart, Florida Fishing Charter, Mahi-Mahi are prolific to the waters here particularly in the St. Lucie Inlet in Stuart, Florida during the months of November through June.
 Best Bait for Mahi Mahi
Mahi Mahi came from the Hawaiian word “strong”. So, when it comes to fishing Mahi Mahi, you need to use all your strength a durable lure and bait to catch it. Short, blistering runs can end with a deep dive, then the fish stubbornly turns on its side and refuses to come up.
You’ll want to grab a rod and reel combination well-suited for a 30-pound fused line. Your rod should be around 7-foot long with a rapid to extra-fast action and the ability to handle lure weights up to one ounce.
Baits? Though their mouths are relatively small, it’s amazing how much they can actually swallow, including large baits. They mostly eat fish, so traditional bait fish like sardines and Pacific Mackerel work well to bait them. The larger the fish, the larger the bait they’ll grab. Cut bait like shrimp and ballyhoo works well too, but cut false albacore will drive them wild.
What are the Regulations for Fishing Mahi Mahi in Florida?
When it comes to recreational fishing, you can expect Florida to have one of the strictest rules. These rules are governed and implemented by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. They aim to protect and manage fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and the benefit of people. You can read the guidelines here.
Best Techniques to Catch Mahi Mahi
There are three popular techniques to catch Mahi Mahi.
First, when you are trolling weedlines for Mahi Mahi you ideally want the weed line to be very defined. If the weedline is defined you will get caught up on way less Sargassum and you will not have to reset your spread as often.
Second, Mahi Mahi can be found under floating structures and you won't necessarily see them right away. This is why it can be effective to troll past  buoys, balloons, or driftwood.
Finally, trolling currents can be an effective way to catch Mahi Mahi. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, there will be currents w/ weedlines in it. If this is the case you’re in a good spot. Take your time and work the weed lines and current for Mahi Mahi.
You don’t have to worry about this. Our captain at Hate 2 Lose Sport Fishing Charters has more than 30 years of experience fishing the Atlantic coast, the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. He has extensive knowledge in catching Mahi Mahi. You just have to enjoy the Stuart, Florida Charter Boat Excursion and cherish the experience.
