#First I upgraded the RAM to see if that helped make it faster (negligible changes)

Today was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I finally got around to upgrading my PC, specifically my CPU, but in order to do that I needed to replace the motherboard. The first hitch was that apparently my current RAM didn't fit in the slots, so I rushed off to Best Buy to get some (I was not going to wait and I ended up finding some for relatively cheap). Then once I connected everything correctly and started up the PC, it went to the BIOS screen and... no further. Apparently, it doesn't consider either of my hard drives as a bootable device. After hours of troubleshooting (some of which while on the phone with my partner), switching on my ancient laptop for the first time in 10 years in order to get the BIOS version update, and internal panicking, I called a few PC repair places trying to find one that was still open so I could bring it in. No dice on that front, but I got to talking through my issue with a few of them and the answer seems to be reformatting my hard drive, which means I need to back them both up first. So eventually I gave up, deconstructed the new stuff and reconstructed the old stuff, and I'm back to square one. But at least I have a PC I can actually use for now.
So my weekend started off pretty shitty! But it will certainly get better, as I'm going into the city to see the D&D movie with most of my D&D group tomorrow!
