So here are some more cosplayer photos I took on the Sunday. Sadly I wasn’t able to get as many as the Saturday, but these were some of the best there. My hat’s off to the Louisoix cosplayer, you were absolutely amazing. I’m so thrilled I was able to get a shot of Alphinaud and Alisae with their granddad as well.

Final Fantasy XIV North American Fan Fest Canceled Due to COVID-19

  This November, Final Fantasy XIV fans were going to gather in San Diego for the North American Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival, but those plans changed this week. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida hopped on the MMO's official forum to announce the festival's cancellation as a result of the unpredictability of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

  Square Enix still wants to hold a festival, it's just a matter of when. Right now they're looking into possible dates, cities, and venues to schedule something for sometime in the first half of 2021. 

  Preparations are still underway for December's Fan Festival in Japan and the February 2021 Fan Festival in Europe. 

  In addition to the changes to the fest, the schedule for the next major update has shifted. The majority of the game's staff have finished setting up home work stations, but they're still operating at about 85 to 90 percent capacity. Thus, development on Patch 5.3 content is going a little more slowly than usual, pushing the planned June 16 release back by "more than a month at the very least."

The Europe Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Frankfurt, Germany is all said and done, but we got some new updates on the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Stormblood. So what’s new?

New Class: Samurai

It was previously announced that we would be getting Red Mage as a new class in the expansion, but during the keynote, they announced ANOTHER class: Samurai. This class will be a pure Melee DPS…

My first batch of photos taken from the European Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest. These were a couple I took on the Friday I left for Germany. My hotel was right next to the venue (remember that, because it lead to something AMAZING happening), which was handy, and my hotel room was really nice. Only really wandered about this day and got a scope for where the building was in relation to my hotel.

Still, it least I got the duck.

My final and most precious picture from Germany. I even considered not editing Pepean’s face into this one, but hey why stop a perfect record? Okay, so, a little backstory on this photo: As some of you may know: Nobuo Uematsu himself was at the Germany Fan Fest, and was doing a signing there. However, slots for that signing were VERY limited. I tried to sign up for one of those slots, even pushing back plans with my cousin to do so. However on the day they became available... their system crashed so it had to be delayed. Annoyingly, the time they became available again happened while I was in the middle of seeing The Lego Batman Movie, so... I missed my chance.

Of course I was a bit disappointed, who wouldn’t be? But “Oh well,” I said “Clearly I wasn’t meant to meant to meet him there. Life goes on.” and I went and enjoyed the convention anyway. On the Monday morning after the convention I went down from my hotel to get breakfast... only to find out that ALL the Square-Enix guests had been staying in the EXACT SAME HOTEL! I saw them all getting into a taxi to go to the airport, including Uematsu-san! Not wanting to waste this opportunity I went up to him and asked if I could get a picture and he said “Yes” with a huge smile on his face! This was one of the most incredible things that has ever happened to me! If I had been a second later I would have missed him! I’m am SO honoured that I got this opporunity. In fact, “honoured” doesn’t do this moment justice! This was absolutely amazing!

Final Fantasy XIV Europe Fan Fest Saturday Photos - Part 5/5

Finally I finish up the Saturday batch with the two most AWESOME photos that I had taken there, with Foxclon and the man, the legend himself Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida! Oh my gosh the fact that I got to meet these two was SUCH a big honour and they were both lovely guys. Yoshida was even still wearing his Samurai costume from the announcement, which made this all the more awesome. Sadly we could only get either a photo or an autograph, not both, from Yoshida in order to keep the line moving. I went with a photo because it’s more memorable in my opinion.

As you can see, in real life I’m quite tall for a Lalafell :P

Final Fantasy XIV Europe Fan Fest Saturday Photos - Part 3/5

So here’s a look at some of the stuff, besides in-game events, that was on offer. There were a TON of Mini-Games to play, including some IRL Gold Saucer ones. I wasn’t particularly good at any of them, though I did manage to win my Chocobo Race, so that’s something.

There was a Signing Wall there which was very popular. Of course I left my own mark on it. Well... I left two but I’ll come back to the other one later.

There was also a memorial for all the characters we’ve lost in the story, where various fans donated offerings... somebody even put a pack of condoms forth as an offering... because of COURSE they did...

At the convention I got to meet up with @fizziefloof and a few other in-game friends. Thanks once again for letting me hang out with you guys, you’re all awesome. These are mainly some photos of us taking it easy in the Moogle area.

The last photo was taken by Kikilu, but it’s my OTHER message on the Signing Wall. It speaks the truth! Once you go short, you don’t retort!

Final Fantasy XIV Europe Fan Fest Sunday Photos - Part 4/4

Finally my final batch of photos taken from the final day of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest... finally...

Just mainly some final stage stuff that went on. Yusuke Mogi came out to show off the drawings he’d been working on over the past two days, which were incredible. Then of course was the Primals concert, which ROCKED HARD! Seriously, seeing it on the livestream doesn’t compare to seeing it live! It was AMAZING!

Then of course came the final words from Yoshida and the rest of the gang. They gave their thanks and took one final bow. I actually kept one of the streamers that fired out as they took their bow. A weird memento, but hey I did my part to tidy up at least!

Outside I tried to get a few photos of just how many people actually attended this thing. The turnout was HUGE. Everybody there was completely lovely as well. It was such a chilled atmosphere and you could talk to just about anybody.

The last photo is one of all the fellow Lich players we met outside. It was great getting to meet all of you. You’re such awesome people!

Final Fantasy XIV Europe Fan Fest Sunday Photos - Part 1 / 4

Time to kick off the Sunday photos with the stage stuff. The Q&A and Letter from the Producer Live were incredible and fun, though I am still miffed that they didn’t answer my question as to whether Lalafell and Roegadyn can breed together.

But what was the biggest honour for me was that I was there in the audience when Final Fantasy XIV got awarded not one, but THREE Guinness World Records! I was there for this part of history! I am SO honoured I can’t even tell you!

The final image is just a better look at the stage itself, as they were setting up for the Primals concert that happened at the end of the night.
