⌜ alyah chanelle scott, cis woman, she/her, ⌟ welcome back to hogwarts, ANGELINA JOHNSON ! according to your file, you’re a TWENTY FIVE year old HALF BLOOD. as i’m sure you remember, last spring had its challenges, but i’m confident you’ll take your studies more seriously this year. as a SEVENTH year GRYFFINDOR, focusing on SPORTS MAGIC (AND HERBOLOGY), you’ve got a lot on your plate. our records show that you're SELF ASSURED and PASSIONATE however, they seem to have left off that you're OPINIONATED and NARROW MINDED. if i’m correct, you’re siding with THE LIGHT, which makes sense considering you’re known around the castle for returning earmarked books to the library, a smile that could outshine the sun, a face twisted from sour sweets while friends around them laughs, tasting gunpowder on the back of your tongue, an old gardening trunk with an artificial sun. let’s hope you make it through the year in one piece.

FATHER: reginald kwame johnson. warm but complicated relationship: growing up, angelina didn't see too much of her father. she got birthday presents and christmas cards and all the little things that people get from their fathers, but she never saw him. day to day, it was just her and her mum. now she'll say it doesn't matter, they didn't have any room for him, really, or any need, but the part of her that's still a child aches for the one relationship she never truly had. things have been getting better. slowly.

MOTHER: corina elizabeth meadowes. incredibly close with: her mother was her entire world growing up. despite the lack of magic pouring from her fingertips, her mum was always the most magical thing in the world to her - no if, ands or buts about it. she absorbed her mothers love of quidditch, her penchant for double layering and always wearing her braids piled high atop her head. there is very little in her that her mother isn't responsible for - the good, and the bad. they correspond daily and are as close as mum and daughter can be.

SIBLINGS: harry james potter (non biological, obviously, but spiritually so). he was eighteen, skinny as a literal garden rake the first time she saw him. it doesn't matter that they're not biologically related - that he tends to burn in the sun while she seems to glow, that he grew up surrounded by muggles, deprived of what he should have gotten, while she got cobbled streets and honeydukes weekly. quidditch brought them together - but it was choice that solidified her place in his life, and his place in hers. and if anybody knows angelina, they know that she's not taking that choice back, not for all the money in the world.

EXTENDED FAMILY: yao johnson (paternal grandfather), rhea johnson nee tuft (paternal grandmother), leonidas meadowes (maternal grandfather, deceased), avigail meadowes nee figg (maternal grandmother, deceased), dorcas meadowes (maternal aunt, deceased), rosmerta meadowes (maternal aunt via marriage), arabella figg (cousin some times removed).

HOUSE: gryffindor. expect stamina, incredible courage, intense and stormy emotions, burning idealism and indomitable will. gryffindor scorpios are never drawn in shades of pastel; they are always blood red and mesmerizing gold. there are few followers born under this aspect; scorpio born into this house tend to be either leaders or loners. they are well placed on the quidditch field, where their natural competitive streak and their great store of personal energy make them natural beaters (or, really, naturals at any position on the field). expect them to get into frequent duels, and expect them to gravitate naturally to defence against the dark arts, for all scorpios are fascinated with anything dark and forbidden, and gryffindor scorpios will want to take their place as defenders as early in their careers as possible. expect passion. expect wisdom. but don't expect a lot of time to take a breather. many people born under this aspect also end up as aurors; they're the perfect 'bad cop' to the 'good cop' libra wizards.

BLOOD STATUS: half-blood, daughter of a well known squib. the johnson family have always flown under the radar - never pure enough to be purebloods, not muggle enough to be muggleborn, just smack bang in the middle of the road. they've never been history makers, just quietly plodding along. the meadowes, though, they were vibrant, bright and bold - making waves, for which they were all slaughtered.

WAND: aspen, dragon heartstring core, 13 3/4 inches, brittle. garrick ollivander ii often found that aspen wand owners were generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders: this was a wand for revolutionaries. the proper owner of the aspen wand was often an accomplished duelist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand was one of those particularly suited to martial magic; it usually displayed outstanding charmwork as well. aspen wands were particularly prized by the notorious and secretive club called the silver spears from the 18th century - whether this club still exists in some form to date is unknown. angelina's reputation in the dueling circle is well warranted - not only for her wand, but for her own indomitable will. well, that and her win record - which ranks her as the second most successful member. m dragon heartstring wands produced the most powerful and flamboyant magic and they learned spells faster and easier, however they were more prone to accidents. (see: angelina accidentally turning alicia's hair and skin a patchy purple instead of turning the rat on her desk green.) they were the most likely to change loyalty, but would always bond strongly with its current owner. it was also the easiest to turn to the dark arts, though it would not do so on its own. comparatively, angelina's loyalty is very much a firm, static thing: her wand chose her to balance itself.

AREA OF STUDY: sports magic and herbology. sports magic is fairly obvious: the study of magical sports, the most famous of which is quidditch, and it's management. herbology was selected as her second major - she knows she won't be a quidditch player forever, and the chances of her actually wanting to manage rather than play are slim. so, she has a built in back up plan, as well as what is now a lucrative side business.

CLUBS: chaser on the gryffindor quidditch team, member of the dueling club and president of the herbology club. the current iteration of the gryffindor quidditch team is one that makes angelina proud to still make the cut, even if she is halfway out the door to a professional contract with the holyhead harpies. the dueling club is mostly self explanatory - her magic is martially inclined, even if her majors are not, and she excels in spaces where she gets to do work that is physical, not just theory. (it's why her practicals always scored higher than her written tests, even during her owls - after which she dropped most of her basic subjects.) the current formation of the herbology club means that she hosts many of the meetings in the greenhouses or within her own private space, the expanded greenhouse trunk (yes, this was inspired by bedtime stories of newt scamander and his traveling suitcase).

PATRONUS: golden eagle. the golden eagle patronus means you are strong-willed and free, and aren't afraid to try new things and soar to new heights. the whole world is about you, you cannot fence yourself in, and you long to see new things, but still take comfort in home and familiarity. you can be grounded when necessary, but take every opportunity to test the impossible. you are a natural born leader, and perhaps you can be bossy sometimes, but you like to be in control. though you may not be overly social, you certainly have close friends you can count on in times of need.the eagle is a popular symbol in many cultures, but particularly native american cultures. eagles hold a position of strength, leadership and vision. they can spot prey from miles up in the sky, dive at striking speeds and soar for long periods at a time. to the natives, the eagle was the chief of all winged creatures, and conveyed power and majesty from animal to animal, man to bird.

BOGGART: her mother (and later harry) as inferi, voldemort's glorified puppets. inferi are the stuff of mightmares for wizarding children. it certainly was the case for her mother as a child, something that was unintentionally handed down - compacted by the fact that her mother's sister had been turned into an inferi shortly after her murder at the hands of voldemort himself. this fear has not changed, but it has darkened and become more defined and realistic.

#𝚙𝚑𝚢𝚜𝚒𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚜.

ETHNICITY: black.

NATIONALITY: british ghanian.

HAIR: black. braided most of the time in box braids or triangle box braids, often styled into either two buns or a single bun at the top of her head. has previously used blonde extensions with her braids. typical party outfits mean she lets down her braids or styles them into elaborate up-do's. senegalese twists are also common. naturally tightly coiled. natural hair can be cut very short between braiding sessions or kept long, with one section braided at the front on either side.

EYES: dark brown.

SKIN: umber, fairly unblemished. moisturising is something she does daily and takes great care to touch every inch of her skin, whether it is normally visible or not. wears spf daily.

HEIGHT: 5’7”.

BUILD: somewhere between an ectomorph and a mesomorph - 'fitness model' look, slim, not much body fat, fast metabolism but can and does gain muscle, v-shaped torsos, wide upper back, developed chest and shoulders, narrow waist, lean and agile, strong-looking but toned and not bulky arms and legs.

born in hogsmeade, scotland — it was an idyllic upbringing, until one considered that she was being raised by a single mother who had no magic with little to no support from her birth father.

used to visit honeydukes on a weekly basis - was a well known customer until she discovered zonko's and became somewhat of a little troublemaker on the cobbled streets. of course, nobody could be too mad because she was just adorable.

attended primary school with other children from the area and surrounding hamlets. her first proper birthday party was held in the primary schoools assembly hall.

attended her first quidditch match at the age of seven and promptly fell head over heels with the real thing. she had been listening to it on the radio, of course, but had been deemed too young for the chaos of live sports -- which was not an incorrect decision, considering the match she attended actually devolved into rioting.

she used to visit her grandparents and aunts graves twice a week with her mum. the engraving always made her mum so sad, though, and she decided a long time ago that she hated visiting them.

always been an active person - loved to run, play football, chase after snitch toys some kid from down the street had brought out because the town was theirs again after the school year ended.

received her expanded trunk when she settled on her majors from her mum as a celebratory gift. it's old, and faded, chipped a bit in the corners but still holding together - an obvious hand-me-down, though the fixture of an enchanted artificial sun within was an addition.

she uses her trunk to grow ingredients for the ever popular weasley twins new business venture - www - and takes her payment in the form of discounted products and occasional meals.

has a 0 tolerance policy for bigotry in any form -- whether it be creature based, blood based or based on the colour of your skin or the gender you identify as, she simply won't have it. this has led to her hot head getting her into hot water before.

tends to consider her own opinion to be the right one, even if it's not necessarily the case, and as a result has the tendency to bulldoze right over people irrespective of their arguments. rare is it that someone can get her to change her mind - and usually only those on a very short list can do so short of smacking her around the head with the consequences.

burned all the 'potter stinks' badges in possession of the gryffindor students in the fireplace in the common room last year and she may have gone too far in yelling at students who didn't really know any better, having not interacted with harry all that much.

regularly sneaks out of the gryffindor dorms via the window. sometimes she simply climbs to the top of the pyre to sit and watch the sunset or sunrise on slanted tiles, or she flies. the latter is more common.

her mum is a member of the order of the phoenix and quietly a very good friend of aberforth dumbledore. ange has always suspected there's something there that reminds him of the girl in the portrait he has.

is not against using tactics in games that are considered violent. once stole one of the twins beaters bats to ensure that a player that had been trailing and grasping at katie's broom wouldn't be able to bother them for the rest of the match (read: she knocked his ass for six and he ended up in the hospital wing).

her mum is a squib, the last living meadowes family member. back when she found out she was having angelina, she refused to get married - she's now the only surviving meadowes left, having been deemed less than a threat by voldemort. the fact that she owns several shotguns has never seemed to occur to him - nor the fact that she would blow his little noseless face to pieces, and ange would help.

had a handful of relationships that were ultimately meaningless, all fizzling out before it could reach any consideration for seriousness. there have been only a couple that she thinks of with true fondness - and one of them never even got off the ground.

has been having nightmares about having put her name in the goblet of fire. cedric's fate could have been hers, and she can't stop thinking about it.

she tends to her grudges like they're little pets, unfortunately. or fortunately if you've never had the misfortune of being on her shitlist.

turned down the position of quidditch captain after a lengthy consideration. her schedule was already packed to bursting and she was ultimately unwilling to part with her membership of the duelling club or the herbology club, both of which are vital to keeping her sane and alive.

she has snakes. originally it was because she heard that they might be beneficial for the plants she grows, and now it's just because she kind of likes them a lot, despite their obvious dark connotations within the wizarding world.
