Soleil’s Mother: Elspeth Garde
Name: Elspeth Garde
Job Occ.: Aroma Lady, Self Employed
Faceclaim: Jaina Preventer, Sword Girls
Signature Pokemon: Roserade
Currently: Married ( To Alec Garde)
Elspeth was born as apart of a sacred belief of understanding and protecting Earth through the use of prayer and belief in using the Earth's energy for the greater good. In a way, she was considered a priestess if you look back at her family line (her own mother being a priestess that worshiped through prayer to the gods of harvest). Elspeth was raised along with other priestess that studied along with her, working to understand the use of energy and on using the environment to sense disruptance.
For this reason, their most popular god of worship were both Zygarde (the being of balance) and Landorus (the being of harvest). Growing up, Elspeth had learned to sustain herself (thanks to her parents discipline and meditation training) and began to travel the world in hopes of not only getting stronger in her battling technique, but in hopes of someday proving to the great beings she prays to that they see her worthy of their sacred prayers.
As she grew older, Elspeth discovered the Aroma Lady Association, a group of women who train with each other in order to hone their skills in terrains and natural essence energy, as well as perfecting and using scents and natural materials. She stayed and practiced along with the Aroma Lady Association, although because she was pretty self reserved and independent, her mind did pretty much become warped because of the practices the Aroma Ladies would practice. One of which was the fact that the group in general had a disdain towards masculinity. Believing that women were the only ones to become one with nature and deeming the fact that they themselves didn't need males (trans or not) to be apart of their studies.
The fear of being tainted by their desires and seduction pretty much closed the association off from them, causing Elspeth to create a similar belief in her head as well. Another belief that she had picked up while she was a part of the association was that steel-types were not natural. They were only objects, not living and therefore not natural to the world. Elspeth may have been an independent woman, but because of being trained in seclusion as some sort of 'priestess', her opinions were easily bent and swayed by what the Aroma Ladies were saying to her. It was pretty much a law to Elspeth...
...until she met the love of her life, Alec. Falling in love with a male was taboo for the Aroma Lady Association. They saw it as a sign of 'being tainted', and Elspeth's eyes were soon opened at the fact that this kind of thinking was highly toxic for her. Not because they were trying to purposefully keep her away from Alec, but because she knew that regardless, this is what she wanted. It was almost like the great being of Harvest was calling for her, to give her a chance to change her path so that way she could better herself in her practice.
She left the association, although she did take up their training and worked on perfecting using natural energy and solidifying her belief in Landorus for guiding her in the right direction. Almost being blessed by such decision, she was gifted a rapier by the being in order to practice terrain energy and natural essence; The Nature Rapier.
Soon after, she eventually gave birth to her daughter, Soleil Garde, and she taught Sol everything she knew about her own training. Hoping for the day that Soleil will at some point reach the same pinnacle as she has, in bonding with a being to the point where she receives their blessing and guidance.

Soleil and the Aroma Lady Association
As someone who has come from a family line associated with being an Aroma Lady, Soleil and her mother both have had practice before with the group. In fact, Soleil’s mother had intentionally cut off ties with ALA altogether due to the fact that she simply couldn’t agree that an aroma lady couldn’t become one with nature if she married a man.
Her mother fell deeply in love with her now husband, and thus broke off from the group as soon as she began to feel feelings for him. Later on the years she still trained, although by herself and with other pokemon in order to find her purpose, or ‘charge’ in the world.
That’s when Soleil was born. In truth, Soleil was actually not suppose to be born at all since her mother had no intentions on raising a child, but since she happened as a surprise, she took Sol and mostly trained her herself instead of pushing her into a sorority group. Doing that would mean that she wouldn’t be able to see her child often, and she wasn’t going to have any of that.
There is a bittersweet relation between Soleil, her mother, and the ALA group. Even though they grew up and trained to be independent towards the group itself, the ALA doesn’t recognize either one of them as full fledged ‘aroma ladies’. Being a group based on female-only participants, seeing Soleil’s mother with another man made them act distant and cold towards her and her family, believing that neither one of them will truly reach the potential that they have reached by themselves.
Diverging away from the group was the sole reason why Soleil had cut her hair short in the first place. Being that she didn’t want to be coined as one of those aroma ladies that ‘didnt want to have anything to do with a man’, she cut her hair and adopted more of a tom-boyish look to her. (Essentially it was like a big middle finger to the association)

She had been practicing for at least one or two months by now. Even when she wasn’t venturing around in any of the regions, she found it at least helpful for her to diverge her attention to something else. Something new that would help her essentially (and HOPEFULLY) keep Nidoking quiet and tame for when he would lash out violently at other trainers that intruded into her vast garden.
Music does help quell the beasts and bring them comfort, and instead of trying to constantly fight Nidoking every time he acted up, Soleil found it easier to at least attempt to play something benevolent for the needle pokemon.
Plus she could use another way to keep her learning, to learn another way to entertain. It was part of her job, and using this instrument coupled with her voice could prove to be a useful tool to utilize.
That, and maybe it’ll cause other people around her to see her as less aggressive- which seemed to be the problem with her. Stubborn, independent, and quick to irritate was never a good combination. Then again, she hadn’t really had to rely on other people before for quite a while.
Fingers gracing over threads of wire, Soleil allowed her hands to take control and guide across harp. Near her, his head buried in a thick abundance of tall grass and floral, Nidoking was soundly sleeping. The needle pokemon’s back rising and falling as if it had created an unconscious beat for Soleil to go off of and finally complete the last thread to the song. So long as she played until the poison-type had fallen asleep, she knew she would be able to master the pokemon’s temper and quick anger. Just like hers, too.
Soleil learned how to play the Harp!

Clipped Wing
The border between the field and the mountain had been quelled for now. The emptiness of the snowy side hard rock of the mountain had always proven to be a challenge for Sol to keep on guard about.
Those Sandslashes loved to try to come down and spread their territory, and she merely retaliated with her own pokemon to send them back up the mountain where they came.
Until that one fateful day it all became too much, and the Alolan Sandslashes began to attack her pokemon. One by one, they were overpowered by the insane amount of slush rushing steel-types. All of them were succumbing to the cold they brought with them, and the frostbite emitting from the back spines of their bodies.
Then her friend Nix came to help her, and eventually with the help of her Lucario, the dispute was settled and the Sandslashes were sent back to their home up in the mountain.
It had been several days after the incident, and Sol still kept a sharp eye on where the dispute happened.
Unfortunately, because of the fighting, one of her pokemon had been badly injured.
“I promise they won’t hurt you any more...” Soleil had been kept inside the past few days in order to tend to an injured Cutiefly that had been bashed by an Iron Head from one of the steel-typed beasts. They only received the blow because they wanted to take it for Nix, who was the initial target of the Sandslash.
It was too late for her to react, and because of that move one of her Cutieflies now was reduced with one wing; the other one was torn off thanks to the Sandslash.
They were still healing. The Cutiefly showed miraculous progress in recuperating from the attack, but the pain of having only one wing only meant that their flying days were over from here on out. The small bug-type scattered around on the table, flapping their one wing weakly in order to try to fly up- only to fall on their side in a slump. They buzzed and looked up at their trainer with sad wide eyes.
What were they suppose to do now? With their pollination taken away due to flight, this one wouldn’t be able to fly with the rest of the Cutieflies.
Soleil quietly refilled a small dish with nectar and settled it on the table for the injured Cutiefly to drink from. “I’ll have to watch you from here on out, you know... it won’t be the same for you.” She sighed and stroked the bug gently with one finger.
“Fast change is painful... but I know you can be strong. I’m sorry I failed you, and I promise it won’t happen again.”

Light
Light is the ultimate form of natural energy that cannot be controlled by the hands of pokemon or people. One can bend light with the use of mirrors, but manipulating it via psychic or aura. It’s energy from the sun that brings life to the world, and even though night comes by, the light is still seen by everyone thanks to moonlight.
However, there is rumored to be one ultimate being that CAN control light. That can suck it away, manipulate it, and bend it to its well without being hindered of natural rules at all. This being has never been see in the region, and at this point in modern times, its name has been faded into nothingness, forever forgotten in the past kingdom of time.
No greater power can have the power to extinguish or take away light other than the mythic beast. To even attempt to do it would take too much energy to use, and difficult to use at a person’s command.
Soleil, as well as many of the other aroma ladies and those who practice in nature power, know that it is impossible to harness its energy to use. The sun, they believe, is suppose to help by bestowing its presence as a gift to those who use its sunlight to fight (sunny day and morning sun). The same thing goes for the moon and its light (moonlight).
The sun and light do not have a master, therefore will not obey a living being.
...Or at least nothing else but the Blinding One.
#Fields of Phlox [Headcanon]#(( aroma ladies love the sunlight so ))#(( cannot control or tame the sunlight you must use it as its presence is there ))

Alolan New Years Traditions
Alola does have a few traditions that take place during New Years, and surprisingly some of them actually originate from the Tohjo region; Johto specifically.
Mochi Pounding
During the holiday, on New Year’s eve, Mochi pounding is practiced by soaking rice for a a few days before, then are pounded with ceremonial mallets while another person kneads it to be hammered again.
The purpose of this ceremony is to honor the Tapus that have given live and protection throughout the islands of Alola; this ceremony is a lot more commonly seen in more traditional, populous areas so that way the Tapus are able to view it as the ceremony continues.
Good Luck Foods
Good luck foods to eat during New Years eve tend to be Sashimi (typically raw tuna. If they’re brave enough; wishiwashi) and the sought out grade is first grade. Alolans will pay top dollar for the pound, regardless what kind of sashimi it would be (since it can be made from multiple different kinds of fish).
Demand for high grade Sashami makes the price skyrocket at this time! It’s a good way to make a good buck for struggling sea folk! Poni Island is a hot spot for bringing in and stocking Sashimi!
Fireworks
Fireworks cannot be shot unless you have purchased a permit for it, but fireworks are also widely popular! Fireworks, firecrackers, and more are often launched throughout the islands (more so on Melemele and Akala) and is believed to ward off evil spirits in order to start the new year bright and negative-free.
Ula’Ula Island typically doesn’t do fire works since the area is a lot colder (unless you’re team skull and do it illegally)
This was again inspired by Tohjo celebrations, namely Johto. The only harm the fireworks can do is give off too much smoke, so it’s wise not to set off too many unless you have the grass type pokemon that can absorb the smog!

Turf wars between Cutieflies and Butterfrees are mainly because of how weak Caterpie and Metapod are. In the meadows of Alola, Caterpie and Metapod are more susceptible to becoming food, and are often hunted by anything that requires protein in their diet. While it isn't their main diet, Cutieflies aren't a stranger for feasting on Caterpies and Metapods, which leaves disputes on Butterfrees.
Cutieflies attack in unison, but if they cannot fool the Butterfrees with their quick reading movements then they are easily susceptible in becoming paralyzed, poisoned, or even put to sleep with Butterfrees' powders.

rainbow cream?
[Headcanon Meme]
Rainbow Cream: a nature headcanon.
There is an area in Route 6 near Driftveil City that experiences a strange natural bend. Not much is known about this ‘bend’, but what is known is that in this sacred area, it’s believed that no sense of seasons exists in the environment. Because of this, Sawsbuck are able to travel there and stay as their natural seasonal coats as long as they like before leaving the area- then they will turn into the current seasonal coat when out of range from the natural bend.
In this secret area, flowers known as Antilage flowers grow because of the strange bend. They actually don’t need sunlight to grow, only water and nourishment from the soil that the Sawsbuck trail up when they walk by.
The spring in this area is said to be the spring of health and youth; it’s able to cure ailments and health problems- but only if the sawsbuck that live here deem the creature or human trustworthy enough.
Soleil herself has never been to this area before, because it’s often clouded by a fog that will send any person and pokemon back to where they started, but her Sawsbuck has sensed its presence before when they have back and fourth fro Driftveil.

Phish Food
Phish Food: a music headcanon.
Small Soleil’s Theme
Soleil was a traveler back when she was a trainer. She hadn’t really completed the league challenge at all because she was more hyper focused on learning more about pokemon and the natural environment around her. It’s a lot more upbeat and ongoing, also full of curiosity.
Soleil’s theme
Soleil had grown up quite a lot, cut ties with people she didn’t seem to deem as friends and went off on her own during her travels until she had moved into the Alolan region. It still has that wonder to it, but a lot more slower and distant, as if she’s being watchful.

HC+ Dominant Men.
send me ‘ hc ‘ + a word and i’ll write a headcanon about it regarding my character.
“Out of anything you could’ve had me answer, it absolutely HAD to be about dominant men, didn’t it?” Sol quirked a brow and crossed her arms.
ooc: When it comes to dominant men, Soleil loves to challenge their authority just to see just HOW dominant they truly are. She tests their boundaries to make sure that if they really mean what they say, then they mean what they say. Actions speak louder than words to her, so if she sees that they’re physically as dominant as they are with words then she will have a higher chance at submitting to them compared to men that can’t back up their claim.
Men that cannot back up their claim are more likely to be bullied by Sol, therefore there isn’t any interest in them for her.

have you ever killed a pokemon before? intentionally or otherwise?
Life and death are just a part of life just as anything else in the pokemon world. Soleil herself has never killed a pokemon or person before, and she doesn’t plan on doing so anytime soon. It isn’t in her right, as she would think, for her to do that because she doesn’t have the need to.
Her pokemon feed themselves most of the time, and they do feed on other pokemon whenever they come across wild ones. In nature, it’s eat or be eaten, therefore Soleil doesn’t see a problem with it when it comes to this term.
Now, actually killing on purpose, Soleil wouldn’t think it’s justified for someone to take away someone else’s life. For another pokemon, however, it could be justified depending what the reasoning is. Killing for spot doesn’t suit in her favor.

😡
😡 What would someone have to make them lash out in violent anger? Also asked by @gentiillesse
Judge her harshly / critique her any way possible and shove her feelings and thoughts into the backburner will make her stomp her foot down. Don’t tell her that she isn’t justified in how she’s feeling because she will make it a point to push forward and validate her own words if she has to. Actions DO speak louder than words, after all.

😪 Name one thing someone could say or do to make your muse cry.
Anger crying? Tell her that you’re only using her for (insert object / task here). She’s a lot easier to make her cry when she’s really angry / upset with the fact that she put her whole trust in you- only to be ripped away and meant like it was nothing.

Soleil’s Training Style
Nature power training
When Soleil is training with her pokemon in order to harness energy in the environment, she normally practices with more than one pokemon at a time as a team . Depending where she is in the world, she practices specific energy that happens to be abundant in the terrain at a time.
For example, practicing in a grassy field brings forth an abundance of grass-type energy that is overflowing and growing in abundance. The sword she carries with her, blessed by Virizion, actually picks up on the color of energy present depending where she is. In this case, the blade in her sword will take on a green hue.
With it, she concentrates by meditating through standing up, standing firm on the ground so that way she can use her sword to gather as much natural energy into the blade as possible.
Her pokemon will be scattered, positioned in a circle around her while doing the same thing. Most of them will give off a hue that matches the energy they are attempting to harness for their own use; in this case, all of her pokemon will be flooded in green light, signifying that the environment’s energy is flowing through them and into their body.
Grass type energy being harnessed turns into Energy Ball, which her pokemon will use to practice with while she either watches or participates with them. The sword she uses actually does have the power to fully deflect any attacks that the sword has harnessed into itself without suffering from damage whatsoever.
So, in short, Sol would be practicing with her pokemon by the use of her sword. Her pokemon can practice via throwing their harnessed energy of pure natural power to her, and she can deflect it as she pleases and feel how powerful it is compared to her other pokemon.
A well trained pokemon that fully understands how to utilize natural energy will use very small amounts that can easily disarm Sol from her sword if they wanted to. The only pokemon that can do that is her Sawsbuck.

Dragon Force (Dragon Pulse) Energy
FILE NAME: Dragon Force
Categorized as Untamed natural energy. Wild. Sometimes unpredictable if disrupted.
Origin of creation: Eindoak Town (Heart of the Dragon Force). Info: Originally energy that has been used by people in order to cultivate land, bring peace among people and pokemon, and grow life where it was needed. Dragon Force is one of nature's most purest form of energy (aside from Primal Reversion) and is highly sensitive to disputes upon land. Namely around the heart of it.
Dragon Force, when under no control, is very wild and untameable. It will commence destruction and destroy the land around it, primarily reversing creation if corrupted and unsealed.
The only way to control and seal this type of wild natural energy is through a great device called the Sword of the Vale. It manages and regulates Dragon Force, helping it to steady its own tempo and spread across the word at an even rate. Dragon Force is still present in the world today, however cannot be tamed even by the most experienced of essence users.
It can be used to create environments and grow food, however it cannot be used repeatedly / frequently without rest. Like soil, Dragon Force must be given time to rest in order to be used once again. People who practice taming and controlling Dragon Force only do so in small increments to prevent corruption.
Believed that early essence users have practiced controlling Dragon Force in order to understand how environments change energy. Others believed that they branch off from people who practice Nature’s power.
How it’s made is unknown.
