What is the purpose of a fender?
Fenders are crucial components of any vehicle, serving both functional and aesthetic purposes. Positioned at the front and rear wheel openings, fenders protect the vehicle from road debris, enhance its aerodynamics, and contribute to its overall appearance. In this comprehensive blog, we will delve into the importance of fenders, explore various types of fender seals, discuss their prices, and highlight the benefits of products like Fender Flare Rubber Seals and Front Fender Seals. We'll also touch on why sourcing these parts from reputable suppliers like BS Auto Supplies ensures quality and reliability.

Another take on a seal piñata! The sour form is inspired mainly by leopard and elephant seals, while the regular is just cute. Probably needs to eat pengums and custaceans to become a resident, maybe a fish piñata too if that existed.

It was known throughout the entire crew that losing a car would hurt just as much as losing a person. We all knew that we had formed bonds with our cars in ways that no one would understand until they experienced it themselves. The second you sat in the driver’s seat; the car became an extension of yourself. The two of you were one, biological and material parts meshed together.
I’m on my knees, my hands are resting on top of my thighs, palms upward. The tears that seep from my eyes burn. Someone is crying so, so loud. There are hands on my shoulder’s keeping me from falling forward. I can’t even keep myself upright…
How had this happened? One second, I had been speeding down the mountain pass, and the next I was scrambling away from the burning wreckage.
The entire engine bay is in flames, thick plumes of smoke spiral up into the sky. His horn blares loudly. Both blinkers still flash at me and the last remaining headlight peers at me. I can smell my car burning, chunks of flames fall to the ground around it. He was so strong, holding on as long as he could. My car has reached its end though and the horn stutters before it cuts out completely. The remaining headlight goes dark, as if someone had just blown out a candle. Almost immediately, his blinkers go dark. The last blinks… his final goodbye as he went willingly to wherever the souls of cars go.
It's utterly silent now, except for the crackling of the flames and my sobs. The trees spiral high into the sky on all sides, almost sealing us from the world. A private death. He had sacrificed himself to save my life.
I can feel my boyfriend behind me, his fingers rubbing at the back of my neck soothingly. Brian had lost his eclipse earlier in the year, so he understood everything that was running through me. I had been building this car for just under two years. I had dumped thousands of dollars into it, replacing every part of a sixteen-year-old car that I could. And beyond everything, I had walked through life every day with this car by my side. My first car.
Every time I had needed a release, something to keep me sane, I would drive. There is no better partnership than a driver and their car. No one would ever know the car the way the driver would. But what is a driver without their car? Nothing.
~~~
Brian
She sobs, she’s desperate, just trying to get to her car. I tighten my grip on her, whispering to her. All she wants is to throw herself into the flames. She pulls and strains against my hold and part of me worries that she might bruise under my fingers. I can see the life slowly leaving her car. There would be no coming back from a fire of that magnitude.
“Please Brian. Please!”
It’s quite possibly one of the saddest things that I have ever seen. Her car holds on as long as possible, crying for help but proud that it had fulfilled its promise of keeping her safe. There was barely a scratch on her. She’s sobbing so hard that I’m worried she’ll forget to breathe.
Hopefully, the rest of the crew would arrive with extinguishers soon. Maybe then she would be able to save something from the car. We could build another car, but it couldn’t just be any car. When choosing a car there was a feeling, that if it was right, it would just feel right.
I had taught her how to drive manual in this car all those years ago, we had had out first kiss standing on top of it. All of that, ripped away in a single second. Gone.
“Stay with me. Stay with me. Stay with me. Stay…” She whispers, so quiet and broken by her hiccupping breaths that I can barely hear it.
When the crew finally arrives, she is just sitting on the pavement staring numbly at the still burning frame of her first car. Her eyes are dry, having already spent all the tears, but there is a haunted look to them. As if, a part of her burned right along with her car.
Thick foam from the extinguishers coats the engine bay and the front fenders. The flames do not give up easily, fighting to stay alight. She watches the whole process in the same spot that she had been in for over an hour now.
When the flames are finally gone and all that is left is the ash, she stands up. She picks her way over to the corpse and then lowers herself to the ground in front of the frame. Her forehead falls forward, landing on the car’s bumper. She presses her palm flat against it.
It’s a hauntingly beautiful picture. A last goodbye.
I let her take as much time as she needs but it is getting cold. I shrug off my jacket and approach her slowly. I drape it over her shoulders and lean down to press a kiss to her temple. I use the back of my hand to brush the tears from her face and then brush the stray strands of her hair away from her eyes.
“If you knew it was your last drive, would you have still gone?”
“Yes.” She whispers, without hesitation.
My tire blew out today. The towman, for whatever reason, kept getting my location wrong and the road rangers were my knights in shining honor when they stumbled upon my car on patrol. Then, the tow arrived and was driving after me after they put in the spare tire, calling out that his ride was still free. Now, if this was late at night and the highway was suspiciously empty, which slashers / killers do you think would be after me and how could I fight them off? The tow guy is, of course, no help
This sounds so funny as a time sensitive question like "I'm not saying I am stranded on a desolate road with no help for miles but if I were how could I possibly fend of a serial killer that's banging on my car window? Please respond, asking for a friend."
Danny/Ghostface would certainly be an option if he was already on the move between towns or states, just a nice young man wanting to help get you somewhere safe and accidentally making a few wrong turns...then next thing you know, you're set loose to run free through the woods while he tails you, knife in hand. Your best option is to hope you find the main road before he finds you, but even then you'd have to pray there's even another motorist driving at this hour who'd be willing to stop at your distress. Just because you were stupid enough to get in a car with a stranger doesn't mean they are lmao.
The Sinclair brothers are a classic, of course -- that's kind of their whole schtick is helping out poor stranded motorists, offering to fix up their car while they come on into town for a spell, maybe check out the local wax museum to kill some time. Gotta be honest, your odds probably aren't that great since it's a 3v1...you might just have to grab a tire iron and start swinging if you want a fighting chance.
Michael can drive but he's a fucking menace on the road, he'll be ramming into you and trying to slam you off into a ditch or the median. You need to either outpace him or hopefully lose him with a few sharp turns, otherwise you'll be battered and trapped when he gets a tire to blow out or your transmission to die. Being wounded in a metal cage is the last place you wanna be when he comes stalking over to your wreckage. Although, he might more so be targeting the tow driver behind you, they usually wear those navy coveralls...
And there's a few more typical slashers who have a similar con to the Sinclairs; the Firefly family, the Sawyer family, whatever the cannibal inbred family's name was in The Hills Have Eyes -- these cases? 100% fucked. If you don't floor it and get the hell out of dodge the first second you spot any of 'em on the side of the road, you've practically sealed your fate. And it won't be pretty, or sexy, or fun. For you, anyways.
For a bit of gaslight gatekeep girlboss, Tiffany Valentine. For no reason other than you're practically alone on the quiet roads and she's bored. Just a quick little fender bender and then her nail file across your throat. Frankly, you should be honored to be killed by her, just let it happen, say thank you with your gurgling dying breath. Throwback to Urban Legend, but also Brenda. Who doesn't love a good story about flashing highbeams in the rearview mirror? You're golden if you remember how the legend goes and how the girl survives (even if the killer isn't the one in your backseat), or better yet, just don't flash your lights when you see her driving in the dark in the first place.
Purely DBD killers though, I'd really only pick out Legion, namely because they would have plenty of reasons to target you. They want your car, your money if you have it, and hell, they'll go ahead and take your life while they conveniently have it. The bad news is it's 4v1, the good news is they're all stupid teenagers. You have a 50/50 chance of being able to either outsmart them or just fend them off long enough to escape, but don't be surprised to find 4 different blades in your gut because you refuse to cooperate with their robbery.
i wanna hear about ALL your wips tbh BUT! i most wanna hear about fenders migraine, merrill fucks, and saarebas dorian?? (i mean i’ve heard a little about merrill fucks, but gimme moreeee 💖)
ooo three, nice! ty antares :3 from this tag meme
fenders migraine is a sweet little hurt/comfort idea that came up in the fenders discord server <3 ive written like a single paragraph because i keep getting distracted but this was the post on discord by flyting: Anders gets migraines when he works too hard and doesn't take care of himself. Fenris notices Anders is struggling and has him come lay down with his head on Fenris' lap, while Fenris gives Anders gentle head scritches with his clawy gauntlets
merrill fucks >:3 first, for those who don't know, i'm writing a series where merrill is sleeping with the whole kirkwall crew. the original posts can be found on my nsfw blog (warning, if you navigate beyond that tag, there will be dark shit) next up is the merrill/anders one. i havent started writing it yet, but it will take place after the quest dissent when anders is feeling fraught and out of control and he needs someone to tie him up, you know? merrill knows all about staying in control and can help him out :)
saarebas dorian is an adoribull au where dorian never makes it far when he first leaves tevinter, ending up in the hands of the qun. he misses the plot of dai completely, and runs into bull's chargers after the breach has already been dealt with and the qun is looking to deal with a tal-vashoth iron bull once and for all. snippet under the cut!
The fingers of Dorian’s other hand curl inwards as he grasps at the Fade, a strength building within as he unlocks a part of himself that has been sealed away for years, deemed too dangerous and unsavoury for the Qun. It’s a quaking in his marrow, a whisper in his ear. The rush of it sings through him, stunning, beautiful, growing louder.
Purple magic crackles at his fingertips and swirls around his target.
Slowly, movements stuttered and heavy, Tallis rises from the bloody ground. His limbs twist unnaturally, his head drooped and his joints cracking from forced strain. Blood still oozes from his wounds, but they are no longer a concern, not when his body is at Dorian’s beck and call.
For once, for the first time in longer than Dorian can remember, he is the one giving the orders.
Tallis attacks Arvaarad from behind while the Tal-Vashoth shoulders through from the front.
Between one moment and the next, it’s over.
When Arvaarad falls, Dorian drops to his knees in the mud with a splash. Tallis slumps back into death. Everything goes quiet.
His kith—dead. Partially by his own hand.
What has he done? They’re all—
Ebasit kata itwa-ost, Dorian says inside his mind like a prayer.
You know a lot about cars so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask: How hard would it be for me to make up brand new cars and 3D model them? The stuff shown here looks fun, and I want to give it a go sometime. (p.s as compensation for submitting an ask not focused on a thing about a car: the interiors of the Italdesign Orca and Mazda MX-81 Aria are silly looking things that everybody should get to see.) (p.p.s i don't understand cars or 3D modeling but i believe it'll all work out fine)
If you want encouragement: every single 3D car shape you've ever seen, from videogames to renders to cars on the street, was either drawn with 3D modelling or with something even harder - and none of those people have a significant genetic leg up on you. You're too short to play basketball, you're too fragile to boxe, you're too heavy for marathons, but you're not too anything for 3D modelling. The only thing it takes is effort.
If you want a warning: effort it does take. 3D modelling is deceptively complex - you think you can model a radio no problem and an hour later your work amounts to a volume knob and you realize you're gonna be here a while. I've studied it for a semester and would be pretty lost if I had to draw curves as complex as a car's, although had I had your interest I would've likely dug deeper on some specific aspects on my own (and actually retained all the lessons on complex curves :/) But yeah, holy hell are cars complex. Nowadays especially, but in general - the lights, the vents, the seals, the panel gaps, all things that are incredibly minute yet essential details that can make or break a design, even at the lowest detail (because of course modelling difficulty varies wildly with the detail level you're targeting). Modelling a car from scratch, I'll be astounded if it takes you less than a year. But by the end of that, any car you model will no longer be from scratch, as you'll already have built the knowledge base!
If you want advice: take your time to learn the tools before you try and tackle any big project. For one because naming your first 3D model "car" and messing around until you have a car is like taking your new bicycle to the bottom of an alpine pass and messing around until you're at its top: you'll be there for as long as it takes you to give up, accomplish nothing and leave feeling useless. For two because starting a project without all the knowledge base it needs will just mean its quality will suffer from the start to the points of the project where you pick that knowledge up. For three because starting a project knowing what to do and how to do it speeds up the process massively and provides a massive boost in confidence and motivation because you know what is ahead and how to tackle it - there's nothing more demoralizing than closing up the day with no idea of how to progress from there. For four, because you need to make sure you like the tools. Modelling a car in abstract is "making a car" or "expressing your vision" or whatever poetic way you put it, but in practice it's using a piece of software for a troubling number of hours. If using that software is a chore to you you're never going to push through the learning curve involved in modelling a car, and that's for the best as modelling a car would be a miserable time.
If you want guidance: here's a Volvo wagon. Their boxiness is nigh on legendary, in the car community the "brick" nickname is nigh on a synonym for Volvo. And this is the 960, the boxiest Volvo that ever boxed.
Look at all the curves. The rear windshield curves forwards and the side windows curve inwards, making the angle between them curve diagonally (how pronounced are those curves? Are they constant?), the entire side of the car has a gentle curve to it, and the fenders flare outwards with a smooth blend between their slope and the body's (what do you suppose the radius of that blend is?) - to say nothing of the hood, the rims, and my God, that mirror is a positive sculpture! And also, the end of the rear door is tilted forward - why do you suppose that is? Well, it's clearer in the much older 240...
...you can clearly see the rear door's window frame is following the lower, downward-sloping roofline of a sedan, indicating the sedan's doors are being reused for the wagon. But now that you looked at the Volvo before, you can see the shape is more bare, more simple -free of the indentation that circled the 960's body, for instance- but much more soft and rounded, with the taillights curving inwards (how much?), the rear windshield having rounded corners (and perchance a rounded top to match a curved roof?), hell, the curve of the rear angle kicks outwards at the bottom to meet an inwards slope that goes from headlight to taillight!
This is how you have to come to see cars - by which I don't just mean noticing these details, but this analytical look being how your eye approaches a car shape. Because you can't learn to write without the ability and interest to read, if you catch my drift.
Once you've got a grasp of the tools involved, a nice idea could be to get a 3D model of a car (I recommend starting with a very boxy one and potentially working your way up), deleting a part (like a fender, or a door) and trying to recreate it yourself by eye - see what challenges you encounter, what you struggle with creating, how the result looks compared to the original, and such.
Also, a thing I would advise is to look into cutaways and diagrams and such, just like you learn anatomy when drawing humans because if you don't you'll end up with something that looks awkward and unrealistic and you will not know why. For example, these two designs seem starkly different, don't they?
And yet, if you overlap them...
...the driver seat is at exactly the same place. Why? Because that's just as far forward as you can seat a person before the crumple zone either is insufficient to absorb the force of a high speed impact or begins including their legs. This is just one of plenty aspects but I've gone on long enough already.
If you want a challenge: set a reminder for next year to come back here and show me your progress. Even if it's not anything close to a car yet, if -as you should- you set some intermediate goals that stimulate and excite you, you can still be back in this askbox with something to be proud of and I'll go wooo!!! I remember you!!! It's so cool you stuck to it and have now made this thing!!! That's great! and you'll feel SO good about yourself. Deal?
Oh about the concepts, The MX-81's steering wheel... sidewall? always made me uneasy, it looks like it's coming off (and like some airport surface that has been touched by too much gross stuff) but I do dig the CRT right in front of you! The one that's going in my car is black and white and a lot smaller than that, so a tinge of envy is there.
Also, if you like the Orca's steering wheel, you may well enjoy the '88 Grand Prix and Citroën C4/C4 Picasso's! Ride, Pontiac Ride! Or transform and dance, that's cool too!
yeah, even if Van decided to do it on his own solo he would still need a band behind him when it comes to recording/touring. Sam Fender is technically a solo artist but he has a group of boys who play with him live and record the albums. Van can't do it completely on his own. It's so weird that we haven't heard anything about new people :/
Exactly! It’s either they haven’t found any or they’re good at keeping their lips sealed. 🤫🤐
A girl can dream! 😭 The Safest Place can be a side project. Just like Alex Turner with Arctic Monkeys and TLSP. 😭
U.S. eavesdropped on U.N. secretary general, leaks reveal (Washington Post) The United States has eavesdropped on United Nations Secretary General António Guterres’s conversations, according to four more leaked documents. One intercepted conversation details Guterres’s “outrage” over being denied a visit to a war-torn region in Ethiopia. Another said that Guterres’ reported that he was “really pissed off” about a surprise public ceremony in honor of International Women’s Day during his March visit to Ukraine. Aides later said Zelensky had sprung the event—which included the presentation of medals to uniformed soldiers—on him without warning and posted photographs and videos of the event that implied the secretary general was congratulating military personnel on one side of the Russia-Ukraine war.
While some students skip college, trade programs are booming (AP) It’s almost 4 p.m. at the Nashville branch of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, and the students in the auto collision repair night class are just starting their school day. One is sanding the seal off the bed of his 1989 Ford F-350. Another is patiently hammering out a banged-up fender. A third, Cheven Jones, is taking a break from working on his 2003 Lexus IS 300 to chat with some classmates. While almost every sector of higher education has fewer students registering for classes, many trade programs are thriving. Jones and his classmates, seeking certificates and other short-term credentials—not associate degrees—are part of that upswing. Trade programs are often more affordable than a traditional four-year degree, students note, and, for many, skilled trades offer a more obvious path to a job.
Many Older Americans Haven’t Saved Anything for Retirement (Bloomberg) More than a quarter of Americans have no money saved for retirement. That’s according to a new survey from personal finance site Credit Karma, which found older respondents are even less prepared by some measures than their younger counterparts. Nearly one in five people aged 59 and older said they didn’t have a retirement account and 27% of respondents said they haven’t set anything aside for their later years. That compared to a quarter of Gen X respondents.
Antisemitism festers in current US political and social climate, report says (Reuters) The social and political climate in the United States has become fertile ground for antisemitism in recent years, according to a report released on Monday by advocacy group Anti-Defamation League and the Tel Aviv University. Expressions of hatred against Jews have become “mainstreamed and normalized,” and incidents of violence, vandalism, and harassment of Jews have increased, the report said. The report linked the rise of antisemitism to trends such as growing populism, political polarization and an increase in hate crimes nationwide.
Mexico feels the strain as Haitian migrants, caught in limbo, mark time (Reuters) Asylum claims by Haitians in Mexico are on track to hit a record above 50,000 this year, a top official said, further pressuring the country’s already strained migrant services as many begin to contemplate a future there rather than in the United States. In the year’s first three months, 13,631 applied for refugee status, dwarfing claims from other countries and compared to 17,153 in all of 2022, according to data from the Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (COMAR). Part of the explanation for the increase may lie in a toughening of U.S. border controls in January that has made it harder for many migrants to cross by land into the United States, together with a parallel U.S. program allowing a monthly quota of Haitians to cross by air. Haitians without sponsors or who have irregularly crossed into Mexico or the United States would not qualify for the latter program, leaving many effectively stranded in Mexico.
Brazil’s welcome of Russian minister prompts US blowback (AP) Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday expressed gratitude to Brazil for its approach in pushing for an end to hostilities in Ukraine—an effort that has irked both Kyiv and the West, and by afternoon prompted an unusually sharp rebuke from the White House. Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has refused to provide weapons to Ukraine while proposing a club of nations including Brazil and China to mediate peace. On Sunday, Lula told reporters in Abu Dhabi that two nations—both Russia and Ukraine—had decided to go to war, and a day earlier in Beijing said the U.S. must stop “stimulating” the continued fighting and start discussing peace. Earlier this month, he suggested Ukraine could cede Crimea to end the war, which the spokesperson for Ukraine’s foreign ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, and others rejected.
Flower power draws crowds to Low Countries (AP) Rain or shine, there is no way to keep budding flowers down. From the world-famous Keukenhof garden in the Netherlands to the magical bluebell Hallerbos forest in Belgium, they are out there again, almost on cue to enthrall, enthuse and soothe the mind. All despite the cold and miserable early spring in this part of Western Europe. The beauty is not lost on tens of thousands of visitors thronging the pathways through the riot of color and fragrances. And if the COVID-19 pandemic left the sights eerily deserted for a few years, the challenge now has become how to manage the masses. Gardeners plant and nurture the staggering 7 million bulbs to ensure visitors who flock to The Keukenhof from around the world all get to see a vibrant spectacle whenever they come during the opening season from March 23-May 14.
Putin rallies his troops with 2nd Ukraine visit in 2 months (AP) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday visited command posts of the Kremlin’s forces fighting in Ukraine in an apparent effort to rally his troops as the war approaches its 14th month and Kyiv readies a possible counteroffensive with Western-supplied weapons. A video released by the Kremlin and broadcast by Russian state television showed Putin arriving by helicopter at the command post for Russian forces in the southern Kherson region and afterward flying to the headquarters of the Russian National Guard of the eastern Luhansk region.
Killing of jailed lawmaker on live TV puts spotlight on India’s extrajudicial violence (Washington Post) The slaying of a former lawmaker and his brother in police custody in India’s Uttar Pradesh state over the weekend has placed a spotlight on extrajudicial attacks and killings, driven in part by ethnoreligious divisions fomented at the highest levels of government. Assassins posing as journalists shot and killed at point-blank range Atiq Ahmed, 60, a mobster-turned-lawmaker, and his brother Ashraf Ahmed, a former state lawmaker, as they answered questions on live TV Saturday. In the footage, gunmen continue to shoot the men as they slump to the ground. The Ahmeds, members of India’s Muslim minority, were killed amid a huddle of reporters asking questions. Police moved swiftly to restrain the apparent assailants, including at least one who was chanting “Jai Shri Ram,” or “Hail Lord Ram”—a religious phrase that has become a Hindu nationalist slogan, sometimes heard in crowds carrying out attacks on Muslims. Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, has developed a notorious reputation for gangland violence as well as a long history of extrajudicial vigilante violence carried out by local authorities. Under the rule of Yogi Adityanath, the state’s right-wing Hindu nationalist chief minister, Uttar Pradesh has seen a surge in such encounters with police.
21 die in Beijing hospital fire (ABC News) A fire killed at least 21 people at a hospital in Beijing on Tuesday and forced dozens of people to evacuate, Chinese state media reported. As clouds of black smoke billowed into the sky, people trapped in the multistory building apparently tied bedsheets into makeshift ropes and escaped by climbing out windows. Others took refuge by perching on air conditioning units just outside. Emergency crews extinguished the fire, which broke out in the Beijing Changfeng Hospital, and at least 71 patients were rescued.
Bangladesh to pay off Russian nuclear plant loan in Chinese currency (Washington Post) Bangladesh has approved a payment of $318 million to a Russian nuclear power developer using the Chinese yuan, according to a Bangladeshi official. The decision offers the latest instance of countries bypassing the U.S. dollar and using the Chinese currency to conduct international payments.
For Palestinians, holiest Ramadan night starts at checkpoint (AP) For many Palestinians, the journey to one of Islam’s most sacred sites on the holiest night of Ramadan begins in a dust-choked, garbage-strewn maelstrom. Tens of thousands of Palestinian worshippers from across the occupied West Bank on Monday crammed through a military checkpoint leading to Jerusalem to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque for Laylat al-Qadr, or the “Night of Destiny,” when Muslims believe that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammad centuries ago. The noisy, sweaty crowds at Qalandiya checkpoint seem chaotic—but there was a system: women to the right; men to the left. Jerusalem residents here, disabled people there. And the grim-looking men stranded at the corner had endured the long wait only to be turned back altogether. For Palestinian worshippers, praying at the third-holiest site in Islam is a centerpiece of Ramadan. But hundreds of thousands are barred from legally crossing into Jerusalem, with most men under 55 turned away at checkpoints due to Israeli security restrictions.
Religious Pop Star Singing of ‘God and Faith’ Wins Over Secular Israel (NYT) The singer and his songs were highly religious. His concert venue, on a kibbutz developed by secular leftists, was definitely not. His audience of many hundreds? It was somewhere in between: some secular, some devout, an unusual blending of two sections of a divided Israeli society that rarely otherwise mix. Ishay Ribo, 34, is among a crop of young Israeli pop stars from religious backgrounds, some from Jewish settlements in the occupied territories, whose music is attracting more diverse listeners, and featuring prominently in the soundscape of contemporary Israeli life. In less than two decades, religious singers have moved from the cultural fringe to widespread acclaim, “not only among their people, but in all Israel,” said Yoav Kutner, a leading Israeli music critic and radio presenter. Mr. Ribo is perhaps the clearest example of this shift. Forgoing the erotic and the profane, his wholesome songs are often prayers to God—but sung to pop and rock music played by his band of guitarists. “Cause of causes,” he addresses God in one of his biggest hits. “Only you should be thanked for all the days and nights.”
Hospitals and Aid Groups Become Targets as Sudan Fighting Intensifies (NYT) As two rival generals, each with his own army, grappled for power in Sudan on Monday, even hospitals trying to tend to the swelling numbers of wounded were no longer havens. At one overwhelmed medical center, the morning began with shelling. Then, members of a paramilitary force barged inside, ordered newborns and other patients to be evacuated, and began taking up positions, one doctor said. “The hospital turned into a battlefield,” said the doctor, Musab Khojali, an emergency room physician at the Police Hospital in Burri, northeast of the capital, Khartoum. Many other hospitals were also reported to have come under attack on Monday, the third day of fighting in Sudan. The death toll has risen to at least 180, with about 1,800 others injured. Amid growing reports of random violence and looting, concerns grew that the fighting might embroil other nations in the region, including Egypt, which has troops in the country, as well as Chad, Ethiopia and Libya. Russia has also been trying to make inroads in Sudan, and members of the Kremlin-affiliated Wagner private military company are posted there.
Body Shop Brooklyn: Finding the Best Auto Repair Solutions for Your Vehicle
When your car takes a hit—whether from an accident, a fender-bender, or even just years of wear and tear—it’s essential to find a reliable Body shop brooklyn. With so many options available, you want to ensure you're choosing a shop that not only fixes your vehicle but also delivers quality service and peace of mind. So, what exactly makes a great body shop in Brooklyn? Let's break it down, and explore everything you need to know.
Why Choose a Body Shop in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn is an exciting borough with a fast-paced lifestyle, bustling traffic, and plenty of bumps in the road (literally). Whether you’re navigating the city’s unpredictable roads or dealing with unexpected mishaps, your vehicle will inevitably need some TLC. A local body shop in Brooklyn offers convenience and expertise that larger chains might not provide.
Here’s why choosing a body shop in Brooklyn can make a huge difference:
Proximity and Convenience: It's much easier to drop off your car at a nearby shop than to drive out of town for repairs. Brooklyn’s local shops are just around the corner, making it simpler to get back on the road quickly.
Expertise in City Driving: Body shops in Brooklyn are experienced in handling the unique challenges of urban driving, such as potholes, narrow streets, and bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Personalized Service: Local body shops are often known for providing a more personalized experience, taking the time to understand your needs and offering tailored solutions.
Services Offered by Body Shops in Brooklyn
When you think of a body shop in Brooklyn, you might initially picture a place that fixes dents or scratches. However, Brooklyn body shops offer a range of services to keep your car in top shape.
1. Collision Repair
Accidents happen to the best of us. Whether it’s a minor scrape or a major collision, collision repair is one of the most common services offered at body shops. Experts in these shops can handle everything from:
Frame repair: Fixing bent or damaged frames.
Paint restoration: Matching and repainting your car’s original color.
Dent and scratch removal: Restoring the surface to its pre-accident condition.
2. Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)
Paintless dent repair (PDR) is an efficient and cost-effective way to remove small dents without the need for repainting. If you’ve got minor dings from parking lot mishaps or hail damage, PDR might be the perfect solution. The process involves massaging the metal back into place without affecting the paint.
3. Custom Paint Jobs
Want to change up the look of your vehicle? Whether you're going for a classic color or something more vibrant and unique, body shops in Brooklyn can handle custom paint jobs. Not only will they make sure the new coat of paint looks stunning, but they'll also ensure it lasts for years to come with proper priming and sealing.
4. Auto Body Restoration
Have a vintage car or a classic ride? Many body shops in Brooklyn specialize in auto body restoration. This can include restoring the exterior finish, replacing old panels, and ensuring that your classic car looks as beautiful as it did when it first rolled off the lot.
5. Wheel and Rim Repair
It’s common to scrape a curb or damage a rim while driving in the city. Fortunately, wheel and rim repair services are offered at many body shops in Brooklyn. Whether your rims are bent, scratched, or cracked, skilled technicians can restore them to their original condition, saving you the cost of buying new ones.
6. Windshield Repair and Replacement
A cracked or chipped windshield isn’t just an eyesore; it’s a safety hazard. Many Brooklyn body shops offer windshield repair and replacement services. Whether you need a quick fix or a full windshield replacement, professionals can get you back on the road in no time.
How to Choose the Right Body Shop in Brooklyn
With so many options, it can be tricky to find the best body shop for your needs. So, how do you pick the right one? Let’s break it down:
1. Reputation Is Everything
One of the first things to look for in a body shop in Brooklyn is its reputation. A good reputation often means excellent service and trustworthy repair work. Check online reviews, ask friends and family for recommendations, and look for customer feedback on social media or review platforms like Yelp.
2. Certifications Matter
Not all body shops are created equal. Look for shops that are certified by industry organizations like the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). These certifications ensure that the technicians have the necessary skills and training to do the job right.
3. Warranty on Repairs
A reliable body shop will stand behind its work. Look for a shop that offers a warranty on repairs, which can give you peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong after the work is completed, you won’t have to pay out of pocket for additional repairs.
4. Transparent Pricing
No one likes surprises when it comes to the bill. A reputable Brooklyn body shop should offer transparent pricing, providing you with an accurate estimate before any work begins. This ensures you won’t face unexpected costs when the job is done.
Tips for Taking Care of Your Car After Repairs
After your car has been repaired at a body shop in Brooklyn, it’s important to take care of it to ensure the repairs last. Here are a few helpful tips:
Regularly Wash Your Car: Keeping your car clean will protect the paint and prevent dirt from causing long-term damage.
Wax Your Car: After repairs, applying a coat of wax will help preserve the new paint job and keep it looking shiny.
Avoid Parking in Tight Spaces: Be mindful of where you park to avoid accidents or unnecessary dings that could require future repairs.
Conclusion: Trust Your Vehicle to a Local Body Shop in Brooklyn
When it comes to keeping your car in top shape, a body shop in Brooklyn is your go-to destination. These local shops offer a wide range of services, from collision repair to custom paint jobs, all tailored to meet the needs of Brooklyn drivers. With their expertise in city driving, top-notch customer service, and commitment to quality repairs, you can trust a Brooklyn body shop to get your car looking and running like new again.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing Foundation Bolts | Expert Tips
Foundation bolts are essential components in many structural and industrial applications. Whether you’re working on a construction project or installing heavy machinery, selecting the right foundation bolts ensures durability, safety, and reliability. However, even minor mistakes in choosing these critical fasteners can lead to costly errors and delays. This guide will help you avoid common pitfalls and make informed decisions when selecting foundation bolts for your projects.
Understanding Foundation Bolts
Foundation bolts are used to secure structures or machinery to concrete foundations. These bolts provide stability and absorb forces, ensuring your setup withstands environmental stresses like vibration and weather. They come in various types, including j-type foundation bolts, u bolts, and anchor bolts, each serving unique purposes in different applications.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Choosing the wrong foundation bolts can compromise the safety and efficiency of your project. Here’s what to look out for:
1. Ignoring Load Requirements
Selecting bolts without considering the weight and stress they will bear can result in failure.
Always consult load specifications to determine the correct bolt type and size, such as foundation j bolts or stud bolts.
2. Overlooking Material Quality
Cheap or substandard bolts might save money initially but can lead to structural damage in the long run.
Opt for high-quality materials like stainless steel shims, brass shim sheets, and ss shim plates for added durability.
3. Choosing the Wrong Type of Bolt
Each project has specific requirements. For example, j-type foundation bolts are ideal for anchoring heavy equipment, while u clamp bolts work well for pipe fittings.
Misjudging the type can lead to installation issues or weak connections.
4. Improper Bolt Sizing
Using bolts that are too short or too long for the application is a common mistake.
Measure accurately and verify the required size with the anchor bolt manufacturer or washer manufacturer.
5. Ignoring Environmental Factors
Failing to account for exposure to moisture, chemicals, or extreme temperatures can cause bolts to corrode or weaken.
Consider corrosion-resistant options like stainless steel bolts, shim washers, or external tooth lock washers.
6. Neglecting Manufacturer Certifications
Using uncertified bolts increases the risk of using subpar products.
Always purchase from reputable shim manufacturers in India, u bolts manufacturers, or certified suppliers.
Expert Tips for Choosing the Right Foundation Bolts
Selecting the right foundation bolts doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Follow these expert tips for a smoother decision-making process:
1. Work with Reputable Suppliers
Choose trusted washer manufacturers and u clamp manufacturers who guarantee quality and compliance with industry standards.
2. Consult with Engineers
Get expert advice to ensure the chosen bolts, such as machined washers or tab washers, meet the structural and load requirements of your project.
3. Opt for High-Quality Materials
Look for bolts and components made of shim sheet metal, stainless steel shims, or precut shims for enhanced reliability.
4. Evaluate Environmental Conditions
If your project involves moisture or harsh conditions, invest in corrosion-resistant products like sealing washers and wedge lock washers.
5. Test for Durability
Always test bolts for strength and stability, especially in high-vibration environments. Using spring lock washers or square washers can further enhance performance.
6. Plan for Future Adjustments
Incorporate shim washers or fender washers during installation to allow for easier modifications later.
Conclusion
Avoiding mistakes when choosing foundation bolts is critical for the success and longevity of your project. By understanding your load requirements, selecting high-quality materials like brass shim sheets and hex washers, and working with reputable u bolts manufacturers and shim washer manufacturers, you can ensure a secure and durable setup.
