As you can see I have been monkeying around lately with a new backdrop for gear photos. I am trying to up my game this year in preparation for THE Southern Ontario guitar-related social event of the summer season (which of course is the @dlott65 Productions Presentation of a @chriswstringer8 Joint, the 2023 Edition of the Official Union-Sound, Toronto Guitar Friends' Friendly Guitar Gathering, Gabfest, and Geek-a-thon), which is coming up really soon!
If this year's gathering is even half as much fun as last year's it will be a memorable day indeed. I am looking forward to seeing everyone (both returning faces and new ones) and of course seeing (and photographing!) what everyone brings for show and tell! 😉

ANALOGr, the rare studio gear and one-of-a-kind music memorabilia marketplace that launched last year, is auctioning off six Charvel EVH Art Series electric guitars which have all been stage-played and signed by Eddie Van Halen. Also included in the auction is a Chip Ellis-built Fender Custom Shop Frankenstein copy, dubbed "Frankie 2". All seven guitars are being auctioned as one lot, with a minimum reserve price of $525,000.

According to ANALOGr, the seven-guitar collection is estimated to sell for between $750,000 and $1,000,000.
The guitars being auctioned are as follows:

For more information about each guitar, visit ANALOGr.
Last month, the "Frankenstrat" guitar that Eddie Van Halen played both onstage and in the classic video for Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher" sold at auction for $3.9 million.
Only two other guitars have ever sold for more at auction, both of which were once owned by Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. Cobain's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Mustang sold for $4,550,000 and his Martin D-18E, which he used for Nirvana's "MTV Unplugged" set, sold for $6,010,000.
ANALOGr provides access to a highly curated collection of music-related assets from some of pop culture's most important moments. The easy-to-use platform contains a diverse selection of rare, one-of-a-kind studio gear and memorabilia that anyone can view and bid on. All items available on the ANALOGr platform are sold without any buyer premium fees. Once a consignor has chosen the winning bid for a given item, the auction closes and the item along with its updated provenance records are delivered to the buyer. The ANALOGr marketplace has handled over $3 million in sales through word of mouth alone, with 95% of sales being completed without any timed element and for up to 30% less cost than competitors.
Unlike typical auction houses that are driven by commissions from timed auctions, ANALOGr is aligned with the consignor in maximizing value through true collaboration in the editorial, reserve pricing, sales channel, and final say on the acceptance of all winning bids. In exchange for ANALOGr's services (including travel, storage, insurance, shipping, packing, photography, video production, editorial, sales events, marketing and PR) consignors pay a flat percentage.
The company's mission is to tell the story of each item through its owner's passionate relationship with it, which is evidenced by the thorough records and detailed descriptions included in every listing. A fundamental component of this mission is to act as historical archivists of musical items, chronicling each piece's unique journey in order to show the world the true story of these amazing artifacts. The ANALOGr team acts as an advocate for the inclusion of consignors and dedicates every resource to providing a truly boutique concierge service.
"Every picture tells a story, as does every instrument, machine, vinyl, outfit, or keepsake," says Francis Porter, the co-founder and COO of ANALOGr. "Capturing the essential stories reverberating from these objects through investigation, verification, and production is our north star. Beyond just authenticating, our approach creates more value for our consignors by focusing on the emotional gravity of these historic items associated with pop culture's iconic moments."
ANALOGr differs from the traditional memorabilia and auction spaces through its enhanced priority on managing the assets of its collectors with a long-term approach, as well as through the flexibility and collaboration it offers consignors over the sales process.

10 Things I Hate About Katsuki Bakugo
◤━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◥
⇦ 005. The Beginning of the End
006. Several Assholes in One Day
It was a new day, the weekend, you finally felt free of all academics. You didn't need to worry about Mr. Aizawa's English Lit. class or Mr. Mic's tangent about his latest book up. Your only free time and you decided to take a quick trip to the music store. Unfortunately, the closest one was in the middle of downtown, along a strip of other stores that kept your interest.
While picking up a few CDs for yourself to add to your obscure collection, you debated on going two stores down to the book shop. You were a frequent customer of the store; the owners knew you by heart and absolutely adored your outlook on all things book related.
You stepped out of the music store, searching the plastic grocery bag for the CD you wanted to listen to most on your way home. The morning sun hit your eyes, causing you to squint as the shiny plastic of the case blinded you.
You were at the edge of the sidewalk when you finally looked up at your car. You were met with crimson red irises staring back at you. This is not how you wanted your morning to start off.
"Nice ride. Vintage fenders." Bakugo admired as he leaned against the hood of your car near the driver's side. He scanned your body as you closed in.
Your arms dropped to your sides, holding the CD in one hand and the bag in the other, "Are you following me?"
"I was in the Laundromat." Bakugo pointed at the laundromat across the street, his weight remaining on your car. He frowned as he defended himself, "I saw your car. I came over to say hi."
"Hi." Was all you could respond with, shoving the CD back into the grocery bag as you walked to the driver's side. You reached out for the car door handle, fingers just about to touch the metal before Bakugo slid into your view.
"Not a big talker, huh?"
"Depends on the topic." You tilted your head to the side, your hair dramatically moving behind you. You grimaced, "My fenders don't really whip me into a verbal frenzy."
"You're not afraid of me, are you?" Bakugo asked as he shrugged his shoulders. You could see the muscles deep through the fabric of his black tee. Something you should've found attractive, but the moronic attitude he gave you made you feel something else.
You looked at him confused, scrunching your eyebrows together, "Why would I be afraid of you?"
Bakugo leaned in closer to you, "Well, most people are."
"Well, I'm not."
"Well, maybe you're not afraid of me, but I'm sure you've thought about me naked." Bakugo winked as his smile expanded into something dangerous; the dimple appearing on his cheek, the smile lines that were deemed attractive.
"Am I that transparent? I want you, I need you. Oh, baby, oh, baby." You sarcastically stated, followed by an eyeroll.
You reached behind Bakugo, aggressively pulling on the handle of the door. As the car opened, he had no choice but to push himself away from your car. You stepped into the driver's seat, watching him walk away in frustration.
Twisting the key into the ignition, you heard the unpleasant sound of a male's voice coming from the radio. As you turned to look over your shoulder you were taken aback by the familiar face.
Kaminari parked his car directly behind yours, making it impossible for you to get out of the parking spot. The blonde stepped out of his car. You threw up your hands in an agitated manor, muttering to yourself, "What is it, asshole day?"
The aggravating teen wore a smirk on his face that you wanted to rub against the burning tar. He walked with a skip in his step, crossing paths with the front of your car as you shouted at him.
"Do you mind?"
"Not at all." Kaminari responded, continuing to walk right past you.
You were already fed up with the presence of one nimrod, but another happened to pop up during your shopping spree. No, thank you. Your jaw clenched as you slowly shook your head. You switched gears, putting the car into R for reverse. You watched the back of your old car ram into Kaminari's 1995 Dodge Viper.
A loud BANG satisfied your ears as the pieces of machinery collided. You couldn't see the total damage, but knew the "indent" you caused was huge.
Kaminari came running out of the shopping center, gasping at the chaos. Bakugo stood behind him on the sidewalk, laughing at your accident.
"You bitch!" Kaminari shouted. All eyes in downtown were on the scene, watching as the poor boy ran to his now ruined car.
You shrugged, only feeding into Bakugo's fit of laughter, "Whoops."
────୨ৎ────
""Whoops"?" Your dad angrily roared from behind you. You were lying on the couch, calmly reading the latest issue of Seventeen. You set the magazine down, forcing your neck to inch higher as you met eyes with your father upside down. He shouted, "My insurance does not cover PMS!"
You sighed, picking your reading material back up, "Well, then tell them I had a seizure."
Your father walked from behind the couch to the front, standing beside you. "Is this about Sarah Lawrence? Are you punishing me because I want you to stay close to home?"
"Aren't you punishing me because Mom left?" You sat up from your lounging position, slamming the magazine on the coffee table in front of you. Something in your father's eyes changed—from upset to saddened.
"You think you could leave her out of this?"
You furiously shook your head, sighing, "Fine. Then stop making my decisions for me."
"I'm your father. That's my right." He raised his voice, not in an angry manner, but to emphasize the authority he held over your state of being.
"So what I want doesn't matter." You stated.
"You're 18. You don't know what you want." You looked away from your father in disbelief. After all that you talked about? After how much you've talked about wanting to go to Sarah Lawrence? He couldn't find a shred of pity for you to allow you to leave the country. His tone elevated a couple notches, "And you won't know what you want till you're 45, and even if you get it, you'll be too old to use it."
You stood up from your sitting position to be level with him. "I want to go to an East Coats school! I want you to trust me to make my own choices, and I want you to stop trying to control my life just because you can't control yours!"
"Yeah, well, you know what I want?" Your father's cellphone rang, leaving him to leave his thoughts incomplete. He groaned at the caller, "We'll continue this later."
"Can't wait." You spoke sarcastically.
You walked in an opposite direction from your father, heading toward the stairs to go to your room. Coincidentally, your sister was rushing down the stairs in her lounging clothes. Mina's phone was in her hand as she gestured to you.
"Did you just maim Kaminari's car?" Mina asked, speaking louder than you and your father did in the living room.
"Yeah. Looks like you're gonna have to take the bus." You shrugged with no mercy shown in your eyes.
"Has the fact that you're completely psycho managed to escape your attention?" Mina asked, stepping closer to your figure. You went around her, walking up the stairs.
You held your head in your hands, frustrated with your family and their lack of support. Completely blocking out your sister's cries for you to come back down the stairs and talk out the situation.

the young veins' instruments
note: please correct me if any of these are wrong! i unfortunately know almost nothing about guitars but i just think it's interesting/sweet to see how the 60s influences and inspirations extend to the guitars the young veins chose. i also like how it seems that ryan gave jon a couple of his old guitars!
Ryan
Epiphone "John Lennon Revolution" Casino Electric Guitar: John Lennon's guitar of choice during the later years of the Beatles. The model Ryan plays here was sold as a limited edition reproduction of Lennon's guitar (I think in 2009).
Tumblr media
Jon
Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster NOS in Sunburst: Fender Stratocasters were hugely popular during the 1960s and have a very distinctive retro look. Jon's custom Stratocaster here looks very visually similar to a model played by George Harrison. The museum picture is from an exhibition at the National Music Museum in Bologna, Italy, where Sunburst Fender Stratocasters owned by Harrison were displayed.
Tumblr media
Fender American Stratocaster in Surf Green: another classically 1960s model and the same guitar Ryan was playing during much of the Pretty Odd era. Possibly Jon borrowed it from him?
Tumblr media
Rickenbacker 360 Electric Guitar in Jetglo: Rickenbacker guitars were used by many 1960s/70s stars, but most notably by John Lennon. Ryan also played a black Rickenbacker during the Pretty Odd era, which again he may have given to Jon for the Young Veins.
Tumblr media
Rickenbacker 360 Electric Guitar in Fireglo: Jon also played an orange/red Rickenbacker that looks similar to those played by Carl Wilson (of the Beach Boys) and George Harrison.
Tumblr media
Andy Soukal
Custom Höfner bass: a model of bass most famously played by Paul McCartney.
Tumblr media
Nick Murray
1968 Ludwig drum set in White Marine Pearl: a make of drums very heavily associated with Ringo Starr, who had a black oyster pearl set.
Tumblr media
Nick White
Korg Stage Vintage 1 Keyboard: an electric keyboard designed to look and sound authentically retro.
