( and in the sameish vein, i have anon off as a general rule, and i don't plan on changing that ... so please followers only 💜)

I finally have some more time to read fic and I want to make this a regular thing: reccing five fics every Friday, both fics I've read during the week but also older works that I love. So without further ado, here are some newer and older faves:

1. In Repair (Dorian Pavus/Trevelyan, DA, T) by breadbowl: Inky & co are exploring some ruins when Dorian is attacked by Venatori. What follows next is a spoiler lol so I won't say anything else, but this fic was so angsty but also funny in places, with lots of action and banter. It was like extra content from the game which is my favorite kind of DA fic.

2. Librarian To The Future (Dorian Pavus/Trevelyan, DA, T) by norwasmeanttobe: The Inquisition needs a book of magic which has been destroyed, so Dorian time travels to the Ostwick Circle of eight years before to find its last copy. There he meets a young Inquisitor Trevelyan, who was the Circle librarian at the time. A truly delightful fic, plus the author's Trevelyan is such a sweetie. Loved this.

3. Chintz (Achilles/Patroclus, Hades/TSOA, M) by @baejax-the-great: Achilles is trapped in a miserable marriage, and in order to escape it -and himself- he starts drinking heavily while also sleeping with his best friend (and long time crush, but no one's talking about that lmao). The pain!!! The misery!!! All the suppressed emotions!!! It hurts so good 😭 My heart broke for both of them and now I am ANXIOUSLY waiting for a reunion that will mend it (i.e. poking Bae with a stick while she writes 👀) 

4. as we circle the moon (Keith/Shiro, VLD, E) by @monstersinthecosmos: follows the events in the show after Shiro disappears post s2, and is then found-- but fem!Sheith 🥺 Kacy's written some of my all time fave sheith angst, and this is no exception: an in depth exploration of Keith's state of mind after losing Shiro and Shiro's own struggles towards recovery, just so soft and sad and poignant and true to character. I love these gorls <3

5. Calamitous Love (Tadashi/Ainosuke, Sk8 the Infinity, E) by @starryskeyes: I read this one a while back, but boy howdy has it left its mark on me. I am a slut and a weakling for childhood friends to lovers to exes back to lovers (no one knows them like they know each other!!!!! ;w;) and this hit the spot JUST RIGHT, Chel's prose and characterisations are divine and made me feel so many emotions. I just want to wrap Tadashi in blankets and keep him safe. 😭

This is the brilliant creation of @fancytrinkets , on whom I cannot heap enough praises on. Their writing is sublime. And I am in love both with their inquisitor (Galen Trevelyan) and the epistolary nature of their writings! It's so good!

One of my favorite in the Cullrian collection, and an author whose work is entertaining and eloquent, you can find them here All of their work is deeply moving, and I do not have room to post it all here. Please explore their collection, but before to read the tags.

@jawsandbones has a wonderful collection of prompted stories from across the series! Been in my bookmarks for years.

Rarely do I suggest abandoned or unfinished works, but this is the exception. I cannot find the author to tag, but please enjoy all 200k+ words that we do have.

Everyone needs a good Cassandra/Varric story, and this one is mine! Unfortunately their tumblr is no longer active, but check our more of their works!

It's good, it's big, and be prepared for emotions! Mind the tags, but so worth the read. And the sequel is active!

Long overdue picture of the one and only Chaotic Gay Good, my Garrett Hawke.

My son is so handsome and looks even better than I imagined (thanks to this CC mod, hair and color mods, and this one for skin tone). Still in the midst of replaying now that I’ve got him perfect, but this is my canon Hawke and also the Hawke of my modern AU. This is exactly how I imagined him for the fic, and being able to recreate that in game was glorious. I can’t stop staring at him.

Garrett’s got a tic where he’s frequently running his hand through his hair and as a result, it’s almost perpetually in disarray. I imagined that he’d almost always do it with his left hand, so the left side of his hair sticks up more, and then I stumbled across the hair mod and it captured it so perfectly (from the male hairs volume two pack, the style is called “Like Lust” which also entertains me greatly). Anyway. Enjoy my handsome son, I’ll almost definitely post more screenshots once I get around to posting fic too-- now back to writing.

Okay! I haven't written them in a while, but I think I'll dust off my hat and try to write some fem!Trevelyan/Cullen for @dadrunkwriting!

"So. Looks like we'll be here for some time," Cullen announced as he made his way back to the tent. Evelyn looked like a strange woodland creature, all perched up on their combined bedrolls and wrapped up in two cloaks. With her dark eyes peering out from underneath the hood and the bottom of her face covered by his fur mantle, she looked like a mischievous, gigantic squirrel intent on causing trouble.

"Until the weather clears," Evelyn clarified as she shook the hood off her head.

"Until the weather clears and after we assess the condition of the trail," Cullen agreed. Evelyn didn't seem pleased with his reply at all- but of course she wasn't. Had their situations been reversed Cullen would have been snapping as well. Funny how the worst patients could be the best healers, and how the opposite held true as well.

"We should move on right away," Evelyn countered. "Regroup with the others."

It had been a worst case scenario that went surprisingly well- they were separated from the scouting party and the rest of their crew in the heat of battle, and while they were fighting for their lives Evelyn went down in the fray. But she was alive and relatively uninjured, save for the twisted ankle. They defeated the demons, closed the rift, and began to make their way back to the main camp until it began to rain. Then Cullen set up a shelter, patched Evelyn as best he could while she returned the favor, he quickly scouted the area, and... well, now they waited.

Maker, how he hated waiting.

"We're not going to be moving anywhere fast, especially considering the state of your ankle," Cullen replied. He wanted to take another look at it- he splinted and wrapped it, elevated it too, and then packed a flask with the ice Evelyn created with magic so she could soothe the strained muscles with cold. There wasn't anything else he could do, but he wished- he wanted-

"We're going to be fine," Evelyn murmured. "Now get over here before you catch a cold."

"That's not how illness works. You know that," he said as he ducked under the canvas and curled up next to her on the bedrolls.

"I know, but it's snappier than 'stop standing in the rain looking miserable and hold me.'" she flushed brightly at that, dark as a berry as she buried her face back into the cloaks. "Pretend you didn't hear that, please."

"Forgotten already," Cullen promised as he wrapped an arm around her and closed his eyes. "Forgotten already."

Things I’ve  Noticed/Loved

Just some things I’ve noticed and loved while playing DA: I

This does have some Trespasser and Frostback basin spoilers

-During the prologue if you play as Trevelyan, Varric comments on your accent

-If you play as Lavellan, Solas makes some remarks about your Elven heritage

-If you play as Adaar Varric wonders if you’re essentially gonna try to convert them to the Qun. 

-Learned this when I decided to explore more 

-Iron Bull likes hot cocoa with strawberry marshmallows. 

-In Trespasser if you haven’t played as a Fem Qunari, and bring Sera to the meet the Viddasala in the library she giggles and comments on her attractiveness

-I love how flustered Cassandra gets when you talk to her at the beginning of Trespasser and she thinks you’re gonna propose to your LI (Can’t wait to see what she says when I romance her)

-I just about died when Iron Bull mentions doing it from a chandelier with your Inquisitor if you romance him

-Iron Bull and Solas play chess while out in the field and Iron Bull uses Qunari rolls for his while Solas uses knights and mages. 

-Vivienne compliments Cassandra’s fast acting on forming the Inquisition 

 -When you find the Red Jenny Caches (i literally just learned these are all over the world lol) Sera comments on it

-You can definitely here Dorian and Iron Bull getting less antagonistic towards each other as your progress. 

-Same with Cassandra and Varric

-Mid to High approval Vivienne calls your Inquisitor darling, and my dear and I love it 

-I also just found out there is a final cut scene with Vivienne were you meet Bastien's sister and son in Skyhold. 

-Cassandra offers to help Sera combat her fear of magic 

-In the destroyed library when Sera starts to freak out, Cassandra helps her calm down by reminding her they’re fought demons, walking corpses ect and she’s worn their pants on her head

-Does anyone else pick the angry option the final time the anchor flares up  in front of the advisers in Trespasser because that speech? I mean it’s showing both how terrified and angry your Inquisitor is with everything. I always pick it

-Cole comments on the Viddasala calling Iron Bull I think Hissrad(?) before they fave another wave of Qunari. 

-I always smile when you can pick the option ‘just keep up darling’  to Iron Bull (if romanced) and Iron Bull laughs

-Blowing up the gatlock is hella fun

-You can judge Storvacker 

-Storvacker thinks Cullen is a bear cub with mange

if you send the Avvar  Sky Watcher to the Stone Bear hold he and Thane Sun-Hair to the bedroll mambo

-The giant unnamed creature in the Frostback Basin is just a giant bogfisher and everyone laughs 

-Cole asks Blackwall about facial hair

-Dorian has a dance with twelve scarves apparently lol

-Iron Bull thinks you mean literal sex on the dance floor (nothing will change my mind) and I love it

-Solas looks great in his hat

-Cullen automatically says no because he’s been asked to dance so many times and then you dance with him at the end and it was so sweet

-The story your inquisitor tells during the wicked grace game always involves a rabbit and is apparently very scandalous 

-My favorite so far is the mage Trevelyan’s story.

NEW #ART! Maeve Hawke, the Champion of Kirkwall. As many of you know, the Dragon Age series is one of my favorites, both as a narrative and for pure gaming entertainment. But Dragon Age II is my absolute favorite, and while I certainly love my Warden-Commander Amell* and Inquisitor Trevelyan, Hawke will probably always be my favorite. The combat, the banter, and the narrative were all far better than they had any right to be in a game rushed by an uncaring studio who simply didn't understand what makes a BioWare game great. Fortunately, BioWare did understand, and managed to produce something incredible despite the common complaints of repeated assets and a limited narrative framework.** I played Hawke as sarcastic but caring; purple with a tinge of blue. And while everyone has their preferences, I feel like Fem!Hawke was meant to be a mage, even if it means you're saddled with Cranky Carver the Boo-Hoo Baby™ instead of Bethany. The mage combat in DAII was amazing and has yet to be matched, by my lights. Nothing like a little Pull of the Abyss followed by Fist of the Maker and Chain Lightning to put the fear of god (or at least Hawke) into a wave of baddies. I'm excited for Dragon Age 4, but they could make 10 more games continuing Hawke's adventures and I'd be happy to play them all. I rendered this at a hefty 5120 x 2880 so as to maximize appreciable detail. Please note the special polished metal and colored glass used in the focus of Hawke's staff, as well as the custom fabric textures on the ribbons. Hawke's signature facepaint is hand-painted by me, with some light cosmetic touches to the lighting (and lightning!) effects. Made with love. Fictober Day 27: Can You Wait For Me? Fandom: Dragon Age Inquisition Rating: G Characters: Fem Hawke x Anders

Anders pulled away from her, unable to hide the despair on his face. “No,” he said flatly, shaking his head. “You can’t just ignore the problem, Hawke. You have to go.”

Hawke grabbed his hand, gently pulling him back to her. “Anders, I promised to stay by your side,” she reminded him, kissing his knuckles. “Varric said-”

“Varric’s gotten you into enough trouble to last a lifetime,” he said sadly. “And this is just another story he’ll tell in a tavern. I wish I could tell you to say no, that you don’t have to be the one to always save the world.”

Hawke laughed and gave him a smile that melted his insides. “I agree with you there,” she said, brushing hair out of his eyes. “And I wouldn’t be saving the world,” she added. “This Inquisitor Trevelyan is the hero of this story. But... Corypheus is my responsibility.”

Something wasn’t right, Anders felt that if he let her go now he’d never see her again. But he understood how she felt- if she didn’t go, and something happened to Varric, she’d never forgive herself. “I don’t like it,” he admitted. “I say we should let the Wardens-”

“The Wardens failed, Anders,” she reminded him gently. “And now he’s using them against themselves.” With a sigh, she pressed her forehead to his. “But I don’t want to go,” she whispered. “I don’t want to leave you.”

“You don’t have to, we can both go.” He pulled away again and began pacing. “The world is cracked open and bleeding. Maybe I can help-”

“No,” she said. Her voice cracked when she said it, but he could hear the finality in the word. “Not after what he did to you the first time. I won’t risk you, Anders.”

“And I’m supposed to risk you?” he said, looking down at her. “I’m supposed to just sit and wait while you go risking your bloody neck for a bunch of people who won’t give a damn if you live or die?” She has to go, I know it, he thought, looking down at the woman he loved more than life itself. But I’m so afraid.

“Yes,” she said simply, shrugging. “But I’ll come back- I always do, even the Deep Roads can’t stop me. Can you wait for me?” she asked, looking down at her hands. “Will you?”

Hands on his hips, he glared at her for a moment, his insides twisting into painful knots. If he said yes- she might not come back. He wished he could put his finger on it, but something about this conversation felt so...final. Like an ending of some kind.
