Wuxi has done a lot of funny things, but one of my favorites is looking Ye Baiyi in the eye and saying “who would ever want to be immortal, that’s stupid.”

“What if I were a plant?”

Again Wu Xi takes pause, mulling it over.

“What type of plant would you be?”

Jing Beiyuan gives him the ghost of a smile, as dry and withered as leaves under the heat of the sun.

“A jasmine. A potted jasmine.”

Joe mumbling something soft and sweet in Italian and Cherry, feeling superior, has Carla translate but the translation is off and so he thinks it’s an insult instead.

And Joe goes along with it because it’s less embarrassing, so they squabble about it.

Every now and then Cherry will repeat it like an insult, not realizing what he’s actually saying, and Joe has a heart attack each time.
