❛ do you mind if i smoke ? ❜ / from david to faith lehane !
【❖】 ―――― For being the murder capital of the world Santa Carla wasn’t what she had expected. Honestly, she’s beginning to think she’d been sent on a wild goose chase. She had seen more death in Sunnydale in a week than she has here in the entire month she’d been here. At least the boardwalk was managing to keep her some what entertained. Faith found herself drawn to the neon lights of the amusement park, the sounds of laughter and excitement filling the night air. It was her kind of vibe. As she walked through the crowded boardwalk, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, a familiar sensation that she had learned to trust over the years.
Her instincts proved to be right when she caught a glimpse of movement out of the corner of her eye. Without missing a beat, Faith reached for the stake hidden in her jacket, after fingers curled around it tightly she spun around, ready to face whatever threat may come her way. But instead of a vampire or demon, she found herself face to face with a man who reminded of a vampire she once knew a while back. What were the odds in that ? Then again, no one really looked ‘normal’ in Santa Carla.
Faith raised an eyebrow, studying the man for a moment before a sly grin tugged at the corner of her lips. ❝ Only if you've got an extra for me, ❞ She replied, her eyes glinting mischievously as she released the grip on the stake. Walking over she leaned up against the building that housed the giant carousel. ❝ I’m pretty new around these parts. This the only place people hang out around here ? ❞ Faith asked curiously while waiting for that cigarette.

【༶•⛧┈♛】 ―――― Faith's eyes lit up at David's suggestion, a thrill of anticipation coursing through her veins. She matched his smirk with one of her own, her voice low and husky as she replied, ❝ Rowdy sounds perfect. And I ride anything that promises a good time. ❞ She stepped closer, invading his personal space. The scent of leather and something darker, more primal, filled her senses. ❝ Hudson's Bluff, huh ? Sounds intriguing. I'm always up for a good rush. ❞
As they neared the fire pit, the silhouettes became clearer - a group of rough-looking bikers gathered around the flames. Faith felt their eyes on her, assessing, hungry. But she didn't flinch. Instead, she met their gazes with a defiant tilt of her chin. ❝ Your friends ? ❞ Faith asked, nodding toward the group.
Her gaze flickered to the fire, then back to David's face, searching for any hint of his true intentions. She could sense there was more to him than met the eye, a darkness that called to her own. ❝ Tell me more about this racing. What are the stakes ? And what happens to the losers ? ❞ She didn't wait for David's response before sauntering over to the fire, her hips swaying with each step. The conversations around the pit hushed as she approached, but Faith paid them no mind. ❝ Nice bike. ❞ She purred, running her fingers along the gleaming chrome of what was no doubt David’s motorcycle.
david couldn't be more satisfied when faith had agreed to venture from the carnival and discover a place where they could really get to know each other; in private, solitude, in the darkness. that's where he thrived; under the moonlight without the company of his boys hoarding over him. he loved his boys, don't get him wrong, he'd be nothing without them, but sometimes they would say and do things that would scare off the newbies he'd bring around. he didn't want to fuck up whatever he had growing with this faith chick. he felt a sense of power radiating off of her; a power unlike anyone he's ever met before, and he wanted to drown in it. he wanted to know everything there was to know about her. david didn't meet very many interesting people around santa carla. of course, he'd snag up as many tourists as possible, but they were all the same, fell for all the same tricks. he needed something fresh in his life; someone new and exciting, and he was hoping faith would be that person for him, that dark woman he's been looking for.
❝ happy to … ❞ he nodded, stretching his arm out as an invitation for her to begin strolling first. venturing down the shoreline was relaxing for the vampire, this was his sweet spot — besides his cave, of course. he chuckled lightly under his breath, ❝ lots, faithy. partying, racing, pissin' 'the man' off ❞ he shrugged nonchalantly. he kept his eyes forward, seeing a distant light coming from a fire pit with silhouettes surrounding. he glanced at faith, ❝ depends, are you looking for something low-key or something more rowdy? ❞ he asked, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his leather trench coat.
he took a few steps in front of her and turned, so he strolled casually backwards, rubbing his gloved hands together. ❝ you ride, faith? ❞ he asked, raising his eyebrows and smirking, his teeth biting into his lower lip.he pointed in the direction of the fire that roared in the distance, ❝ got some guys that like to race to hudson's bluff. i'm assuming you've never seen it. it's quite a sight … ❞ he told her. ❝ and i promise to give you that rush i know you're lookin' for … ❞

【❖】 ―――― Faith felt a rush of excitement course through her as David suggested they leave the chaotic ambiance of the carnival behind. She tossed her cigarette butt to the ground, grinding it out with the toe of her boot as she met David's gaze with a mischievous glint in her eyes. ❝ Lead the way, David, ❞ She said with a smirk, falling into step beside him as they made their way down the pier.
As they walked, a cool ocean breeze tousled Faith's hair, and she couldn't help but steal glances at David from the corner of her eye. There was something undeniably magnetic about him, a dangerous allure that both thrilled and unsettled her. She found herself wondering just how deep into the shadows she was willing to venture with this enigmatic stranger.
The distant sounds of the carnival faded behind them as they strolled along the deserted shoreline, the only sounds being the gentle lapping of waves against the sand and their footsteps mingling with the night breeze. ❝ So, I’m curious to know more about the kind of noise you like to make. ❞ A brow arched almost in challenge, Faith turned to David, her eyes dancing with intrigue. She knew she should be cautious, but as always something inside her urged her to throw caution to the wind and embrace the unknown. ❝ And what exactly do you have in mind for our little adventure away from the crowd ? ❞
Oh she knew right away he wasn’t the type to take little strolls along the beach under the night sky. He said it best himself when he mentioned he liked to cause trouble and make a lot of noise. She had always been one to crave excitement and danger, and there was something about the way he carried himself that promised a night of thrills.
david couldn't help but admire the way the girl stood tall and confident, watching the smoke curl out of her luscious lips. he couldn't remember the last time he felt so attracted to someone before. what was it about her that was so intriguing? the undeniable chemistry between them was something that confused him but excited him, more than anything has in a long while. her vague answers only added to the seductive mystery that was her and he hadn't even caught her name yet. he tilted his head a bit, ❝ you've come to the right place ... ❞ he told her, his eyes scanning her from head to toe, taking in her presence. ❝ well, if you're planning on being here for a period of time, i'd be honored to be your tour guide. weird things happen here. best to have a local show you around ❞ he suggested, leaning against the fence of the pier.
and there was her name. faith. seemed to strike him with awe and invoked a deeper sense of curiosity for her. a smirk curled the vampire's lips, ❝ beautiful name. mine's david ❞ he informed her in return. he peered down at the beginning of the pier, taking note that his boys stayed behind like they were told and made their own fun, which meant he was alone with faith ... just like he wanted and intended. he wanted her all for himself for the time-being. he pointed an index finger inward at himself, ❝ my story? not much to tell. me and my boys like to cause trouble, make some noise. we don't really like the quiet ❞ he began to tell her, turning so he leaned back on the fence with his arms spread across openly. ❝ i'm here and around, kinda like you. if you want, you could always hang with us. promise we don't bite ... ❞ he added, chuckling and swiping his tongue across his bottom lip. he looked down at his jacket when she complimented him, ❝ thanks ... ❞ he trailed off quietly. he glanced behind him at the carnival then back at faith, ❝ yeah, you get used to it. not usually the noise i like to make, though. let's get out of here ❞ he suggested, raising his eyebrows and briefly tilted his head to add to his suggestion.

【❖】 ―――― Faith took a drag of the cigarette, exhaling a cloud of smoke as she leaned back against the building. She studied the other with a hint of amusement in her eyes, noting his curiosity. ❝ Santa Carla seemed like a good place for a fresh start, ❞ she replied casually, taking another drag of her cigarette before continuing, ❝ And I've been around... here and there. ❞ She couldn't help but be intrigued by this mysterious man who exuded an air of danger mixed with charm. As she looked out towards the carnival lights casting colorful reflections on the dark waves of the ocean, Faith found herself wondering just how deep into the shadows of Santa Carla she was going to allow herself to get.
❝ I've been traveling for a while, ❞ she added, her voice casual yet laced with mystery. ❝ Santa Carla just seemed... intriguing. ❞ Santa Carla was indeed a strange place, but there was something about it that drew her in, something she couldn't quite put her finger on. ❝ Names, Faith, by the way. ❞ Faith raised her cigarette again in a casual salute, her lips curling into a sly smile. ❝ And what about you, mysterious stranger ? What's your story ? ❞ She tilted her head slightly, her eyes glinting with curiosity as she awaited his response. One thing was for certain she could get used to the faith smell of salt and sea that surrounded the whole area. ❝ Nice jacket by the way. ❞ She remarked but her eyes weren’t looking at the jacket nor was she looking him in the eyes. Instead, Faith was being Faith and checking out the resting of him. He was certainly the bad boy type that she often found herself drawn to and he certainly had the looks to match it. The carnival lights flickered in the background, casting long shadows around them as the night breeze carried the distant sound of laughter and music. ❝ I take it it’s always this loud around here ? ❞
david loved his town more than anything. he doesn't think he could ever get tired of the atmosphere that surrounded him; the smell of the salt air, the notes of jazz that filled his ears, the colorful lights that shined bright from the carnival rides on the boardwalk but most importantly ... the hundreds of happy meals on legs that walked around completely oblivious. the people of santa carla knew about vampires, there was no doubt about that, and yet they still seemed to wander about after dark as if this was the safest place to be under a full moon. dumb, but exactly the way david liked them. he wandered about the boardwalk, causing a little havoc here and there, bothering the residents with his boys until they found their next meal to feast upon. he took his time, wanting to enjoy the night and all that it had to offer, but as he walked down the boardwalk, he couldn't help but notice someone he hasn't seen before standing by the carousel. curiosity had crept in and he couldn't help himself.
he told his boys to stay behind so he could venture out and find out who this was for himself. they didn't get new faces around here very often, so he needed to make sure there was no danger afoot. he approached slowly, smelling the air to see if she was a vampire, but alas, she wasn't. she was human, but there was something more to her. she smelled ... powerful, human but more than human. he had to find out. a smirk formed on his lips when she turned and faced him, ❛ of course ❜ he nodded. he took out his carton of cigarettes, handing her one before placing one in between his lips. he ignites his own before speaking, ❛ there's also the beach ... ❜ he answered. he reaches over to light her cigarette for her, his smirk still present upon his lips. ❛ where were you before this? and why santa carla? ❜ he asked, taking a long drag.
