Bishop Mark Steven Filkey teaches "Pride is a Killer"
Read: I Peter 5:6-8
"Favor has a weight to it." You gotta be ready to handle it.
You are not self-sufficient.
Children are an inheritance from the Lord.
"Ugly thing called pride"
Webster 1828: Inordinate self-esteem; an unreasonable conceit of one's own superiority in talents, beauty, wealth, accomplishments, rank or elevation in office, which manifests itself in lofty airs, distance, reserve, and often in contempt of others.
• Martial pride looks down on industry.
• PRIDE goeth before destruction. Proverbs 16:18.
• PRIDE that dines on vanity, sups on contempt.
• All pride is abject and mean.
• Those that walk in pride he is able to abase. Daniel 4:37.
"Unforgiveness is rooted in pride."
Promotion comes from humbling yourself before the Lord.
Humanism is, "I don't need anyone; I AM God."
"I can do this all by myself."
Proverbs 11:2 pride can be a spirit
Proverbs 16:5 God punishes/corrects proud hearts, which He finds abominable.
Proverbs 16:18 destruction follows pride, stumbling after haughtiness
"Make yourself accountable to one another." It's a wisdom thing, not a maturity thing.
