I throw Terry and Jason at each other a lot. But. I think "What if Jason woke up a century later" is a good place for Terry to play some sort of role. The only legacy of Batman being through a man that Jason never met, and who only met the version of Bruce who had been destroyed by losing Jason. The legacy of Batman not being the family that Jason lost but some sort of shambling platonic ideal, forged by the fact that it didn't have Jason. (Obviously Terry wouldn't still be around. But. Idk. Some orphan Terry took in.)

I mean Terry would probably still be around he'd just be 75 which is a funny little reverse uno considering Bruce was himself 80 when he was mentoring Terry and now Terry is the old man having to deal with the brash teen

New thought about the GL Alex AU. I feel like since she's like, not just trying to live up to her lover's memory, but the memory of someone who answered the call and tried so hard to be a superhero, she'd hold herself really strictly to proper hero behavior, which like. Kyle does too, but Kyle makes exceptions, and I wonder if Alex would ever allow herself that, or if she'd always be comparing herself to the version of Kyle in her head.

and like bc alex was written to be the "better" gl in the first place. they show how she's courageous and has a strong sense of self. She knows who she is and what she wants to be. And Kyle was written to be the immature and childish yet charming bf. So she would easily be a hero. She possesses the traits naturally, where as kyle had to grow into that role. But her feeling like she has to live up to even higher standards makes it even more depressing.

The straight line curving into half a square at the end. And I wasn't sure if this was a coincidence until we saw all of King's failed prototypes.

That shape is the thing that makes the staff that worked unique! Hell, I'm pretty sure the second to last one was even made of the same thing as the one that worked (the colors are pretty similar at least).

When I used "the non existence of clothes and fire" as examples it wasn't because I couldn't think of any behaviors that our species was probably doing since before they were our species that we might nonetheless want to abolish. It's because the examples would be really dark and triggering! Like... Begging anon to spend a few seconds thinking about what other behaviors might have evolved around the same time as "having sex" and whether we should treat all these behaviors as unavoidable and beyond reproach.

In the back of my head I have an AU where Jason successfully ended up running Gotham, getting every rogue to bend the knee or be killed, outwitting Bruce. And then years down the line, he did what he does: make a pragmatic call on whether to let a man live or die. The man was, unwittingly, helping develop a bioweapon. The time table was tight, and there was no other target that was as accessible or that would cripple the project nearly as much.

Now that's an au idea - honestly Jason killing Terry's dad and being what sets him on the path of becoming the next batman would be so interesting

Have you been reading the new Ultimate Universe? It seems exactly up your alley

oh yeah, it's very much my thing. USM is kinda my ideal Spider-Man book and UXM is such a unique take on the X-Men from Peach, who's an industry best rn imo. I'm not crazy about UBP but Caselli's art is solid as always I'm intrigued, but really wish the pacing would pick up or we'd at least get more of T'Challa's personality, inner thoughts, etc. I'm really hype for Ultimates after reading Camp's 20th Century Men and Children of the Vault, I've honestly been chomping at the bit to get some more lore for this Earth, all the characters teased for it seem like interesting new takes. Just purely from a worldbuilding/story perspective I like this UU way more than the original, it just does so much more with being an alternate history

I know nothing about this, but I do know other creators have been worried about it, because the way that Nebula and Drop out stay afloat is the constant advertising the free videos provide, and they're worried removing that means crashing and burning (and with a separate site, it's way more likely that crashing and burning means some media gets lost)

I AGREE W THIS this is smth i think is objectively a really bad move and if anything is most likely to lead to their failure its this. but the conversation seems more centered around the personal betrayal felt by fans
