I've been wondering how 1863rd Han Sooyoung got the modifier of 'Director of the False Last Act' and I had a HORRIBLE thought.
So we know that Kim Dokja got his modifier after being killed as the 73rd demon king and that the nickname directly references this event/story (as theoretically all other constellation names do), AS WELL as being broadly true to his whole characterization (Someone who saves, but is a 'demon' - 'Kim Dokja's salvation was cruel. Like rescuing a drowning person with a blade, those saved by him were inflicted an unhealable wound' etc etc.)
The previous is ALSO related to the whole Star Stream concept of a Constellation's stories repeating again and again in an endless loop. ('The effects of the ⸢Stage Transformation⸥ were absolute. The history of defeat would only go on to create yet another history of defeat.' is a phrase that appears multiple times. Also, the whole of Gigantomachia arc. also also regression. this is a huge throughline in orv.)
So a Modifier has to be: 1. referencing one event. 2. true for the constellation broadly 3. a sort of 'reprise' of the first event has to happen.
The second point, being a 'Director of the False Last Act' is true for 1863rd Han Sooyoung in a very obvious way. She, 'the director', took her world to the 99th scenario, the 'last act', but planned to put it in permenant stasis, in that way making it 'false'.
BUT, at this point she already had this modifier, meaning this is a 'reprise' of a previous event that must have happened. And that lead me to thinking. What if she got it the exact same way Kim Dokja did?
As in, she was the 73rd demon king.
Similarities between Kim Dokja and 1863 Han Sooyoung are deliberately drawn: same white coat, same sword, both leaders of their similarly named companies, both constellations - they both went about the scenarios in a similar way and some of the same events and scenarios happened. (For example, Kaizenix, existed exclusively in 1863rd and 1864th rounds.)
And the modifier of 'Director of the False Last Act' fits perfectly with the 73rd demon king scenario.
Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk both individually get awful premonitions that one of them might have to die in the next scenario. And if even they got this vibe, Han Sooyoung with 'Predictive Plagiarism' definitely did too. Like Kim Dokja, she would have prepared her companions to fight the demon king, perhaps knowing she would become it. 'The Director' deciding how the story will go.
And the 73rd Demon King sceanario is a 'last act' of sorts. 'Defeat the Demon King, the final boss at the top of the castle' and escape the Seoul Dome. It is known as 'the end of the prologue' for a reason.
But she, of course, figured out a way to survive, to hack the system, as Kim Dokja did. Maybe said to her companions something along the lines of "I don't know why you're so serious. Have you forgotten who I am? I am Han Sooyoung. I won't die even when killed."
As a plagiarist writer who has escaped and found a way through all the tough scenarios up to this point. It was not 'the Last Act' where the leader sacrifices herself for her companions, despite that being the story she had constructed for the constellations.
Ergo, 'Director of the False Last Act.'
#orv#my posts#omniscient reader's viewpoint#orv spoilers#han sooyoung#han sooyoung 1863#director of the false last act#orv meta#orv headcanon#73rd demon king#had to cut A LOT of stuff here for the sake of making the point clearer but I'll make another post probably#does this mean kdj could have gotten this modifier too? perhaps

KlubOutside Q&A 301-400 [Translation]
Translated by @reikorun
Q301.
2022.03.07
The Medallions and the "Sankt Altar" used by His Majesty bore a striking resemblance to each other, is it correct to assume that the Medallions are the practical application of "Sankt Altar"?
A301.
That's correct.
Q302.
2022.03.07
Towards the end of the story, brush pens became used less frequently to express bloodshed compared to the early days, does this have something to do with your art style? I would love to know if there is a reason.
A302.
It became like that because I wanted to draw more detailed blood spray and flow.
Q303.
2022.03.14
What kind of technique is Ganju's "Seppa"? Considering the fact that it can directly interfere with matter and the fact that Ganju trained with Ginjō's group in the final arc, I anticipate that this is perhaps a technique closer to Fullbring.
A303.
He is using a technique passed down within the Shiba clan to unbind the union of Reishi particles thereby dividing the matter into pieces.
Q304.
2022.03.14
The boss-like characters that Ichigo has fought so far, that is, Byakuya, Aizen and Ginjō, all have colors contained within their names, but is there some color related connotation in Yhwach's name?
A304.
In the very early stages of development, Yhwach was given the pseudonym "Yhwach Beltz". Beltz means "black" in Basque.
Q305.
2022.03.14
Is Renji's false Bankai "Hihiō Zabimaru" (*Baboon King), inspired by Minamoto no Yorimasa's slaying of the Nue? Renji subdued Zabimaru who is in the form of a Nue and attains the Bankai "Hihiō Zabimaru"; Minamoto No Yorimasa slays the Nue and is granted the famous sword Shishiō (*Lion King). I'm very interested in the pair because they both have these points in common: defeating the Nue and gaining the power (or weapon) called "~King". I would be happy if you could answer!
A305.
It's the first time I'm hearing of this legend. However the similarities are such that I'm not even surprised you would think it's the source. A sword with such a manga-like name exists….
Q306.
2022.03.21
Orihime has a food scene in every arc. Examples:
Agent of the Shinigami arc - Red bean paste on a loaf of bread.
Soul Society arc - Meal at Kūkaku's residence.
Arrancar arc - Ice cream eaten with Rangiku and the meal that was almost shoved down her throat by Ulquiorra.
The Lost Agent of the Shinigami arc - Doughnuts.
Thousand-Year Blood War arc - Scrapped bread, some sweet potato-like food.
And more.
Were these eating scenes included to add to her character, or rather, perhaps I should ask if they naturally increased in number because Orihime came to life on her own as the story progressed? I love the scene where she cries while eating doughnuts in the Lost Agent arc.
A306.
I'm realizing that for the first time now that you've mentioned it. Come to think of it, Orihime eats well, huh…. Whenever I draw a food related scene, it is also the moment where I think to myself “I want a soft atmosphere in the dialogue and the scenery”, so I believe that's where Orihime fits in. Besides, it's kind of like, I don't really want to draw a scene where a man eats food, you know?
Q307.
2022.03.21
Between Isshin and Masaki, who came up with the name "Ichigo"? My personal hypothesis is that he was born because Isshin protected "one thing = Masaki's life", and since Isshin would probably dislike the idea of his son bearing half of his own name, I reckon Masaki came up with it. However, if there is a definitive answer, I would love to know!
A307.
Masaki is the one who named him. For a long time, I was in two minds over whether or not I should draw Ichigo's naming scene, but I abandoned the idea because it would likely just be Isshin and Masaki getting all lovey-dovey and that's gross.
Q308.
2022.03.21
In my opinion, Ichigo is the most handsome Jump character of all time! From sensei's point of view, are there any protagonists that you think lead a cool lifestyle, or anyone you consider good-looking among the history of Jump protagonists?
A308.
I'm rarely enthused by the protagonist, so I don't have any protagonist in mind. I like Cygnus Hyoga. Somehow, I feel like I've mentioned this before….
Q309.
2022.03.28
If Grimmjow undergoes training, could he attain Resurrección: Segunda Etapa someday?
A309.
He can.
Q310.
2022.03.28
In chapter 2, Ichigo fights a Hollow in Yumisawa Children's Park, is there any connection between the name "Yumisawa" and the Quincy? From long ago, the Ishida family have resided in Karakura Town which is the Jūreichi. I wondered if there is a possibility that words relating to the Quincy are attached to place names? (*Yumisawa - 弓沢 includes the kanji for "bow" - 弓.)
A310.
Huh!? There is indeed a connection. That's uncanny! I'm surprised you noticed because I simply added that connection in the name while playing around with the background details and had no intention of mentioning it at all.
Q311.
2022.03.28
When it comes to something I don't like, but I have to get it done, I have a hard time getting started. What does sensei do at times like this?
A311.
I procrastinate until the very last minute, and when it finally becomes impossible to put off any longer, I'll start with just a little bit of the initial part and then leave it aside for later. Of course, I'm talking about my rough drafts.
Q312.
2022.04.04
I thought the lines that Kajōmaru-san delivered were contrasting Captain Kyōraku's speech, but since Kajōmaru-san disappeared earlier than I expected, I've been contemplating the true meaning of his words this whole time. Did something happen in Kajōmaru-san's past?
A312.
Naturally, his lines are meant to correspond with Shunsui's lines, but it's the prelude made for the purpose of setting up Shunsui's speech which is the main message, so I had Kajōmaru say it as he was going to exit the stage early.
Q313.
2022.04.04
I've always thought to myself that if a BLEACH musō style game ever came out, it would probably be so much fun. Doesn't "Shinigami Musō" sound good??? Thank you for your time!!!
A313.
I love Hokuto Musō too, so I think it probably would be fun if there was one. Just imagine Aizen running out from the back of the screen in a 2-player setting whilst blowing away all the trash mobs!
Q314.
2022.04.04
Why did the Shin'ō Academy have its name changed from "Tōgakuin"? (Has their curriculum or philosophy changed?) ×[1]
A314.
Originally it was a school exclusively for Shinigami, however as organizations like the Kidō Corps and the Inner Court Troop were established and classified, the name changed.
Q315.
2022.04.11
It's something that I just thought of right now, but is it possible that the Zanpakutō belonging to the early 13th Division were modeled after Pisces and its ruling planet Neptune? Captain Ukitake's Sōgyo no Kotowari may allude to the constellation of Pisces. It is a constellation in which the tails of two fish are tied together with a string (or ribbon), and Sōgyo no Kotowari also has the hilt of two swords linked together with a cord.
On the other hand, Kaien's Nejibana is a three-pronged spear. It is a symbol of Neptune (Poseidon in Greek), the god of the sea who rules over the planet Neptune.
I have a fair amount of confidence in this theory as there is too much overlap, but what do you think? Also, please let us know if there are any source materials or inspirations which formed the image of Captains and Vice-Captains (any others are fine too).
A315.
"Twin fish" is used to represent letters in Chinese literature, from there I kind of imagined it as "exchanging of letters" → "circulation of energy". About Kaien's sword, I suppose that comes from the mental image of combining the whirlpool of the Shiba clan and water from the twin fish. ×[2]
Q316.
2022.04.11
Sensei, can I use the photos you uploaded of your doggie for my phone's wallpaper?
A316.
You can.
Q317.
2022.04.11
I really sympathize with Quilge Opie's line "speech is silver, silence is golden", but I wonder if a line like this is based on sensei's actual experience?
A317.
This is originally a proverb from the English language.
Q318.
2022.04.18
I watched Ōishi-sensei's birthday stream! I'm very happy because I was able to see characters from other works being drawn by Kubo-sensei and the process by which illustrations come to a state of completion in real time! Do you have any plans to stream it to your fan club or release a time-lapse? If you are so inclined, please do so!!
A318.
That is Ōishi-kun's YouTube project, so please make a request to Ōishi-kun! ×[3]
Q319.
2022.04.18
What does Honshō Chizuru-chan think about Orihime and Ichigo's marriage?
A319.
Since Chizuru is a free-spirited person, she would think "she got married, so what?"
Q320.
2022.04.18
Kubo-sensei also appeared in Ōishi-san's YouTube archive, I watched the hell out of it (an expression I rarely use these days….) The damask-patterned curtains behind Kubo-sensei were so chic that I took my hat off. What brand is it? I looked very closely at it, but I wonder if it's a front lace style where a damask-patterned lace curtain is hung in front of a thick curtain. I was interested because the curtains were beautiful.
A320.
I forgot the manufacturer but it does indeed have front lace. You're very observant…. ×[3]
Q321.
2022.04.25
When Byakuya fought PePe, he was never manipulated by Love Kiss even though he was struck by it. Is that because the mantle Byakuya was wearing is made of the Ōken.
A321.
That's right. That reminds me, there was no space to draw the reason there….
Q322.
2022.04.25
When the Soul King is first seen, he clearly appears to have limbs, when did you settle on the idea to have him limbless? Additionally, when Pernida Parnkgjas promptly dispatched the Second-Class Divine Soldier he was drawn with a normal left hand, so I don't think Pernida was set up to be the Left Arm of the Soul King at that time.
A322.
With respect to the set up I had in mind, it had been arranged so that normally, Pernida can maintain an imperfect humanoid form, but when they lose themself, they lose the ability to maintain their shape, thus revealing their true form (a left hand), but since it's difficult to understand, I'm thinking it's a concept I can probably do away with. Either way, I wanted to draw Pernida's hood tearing apart when they turn into a left hand.
Q323.
2022.04.25
I wish a Blu-ray box edition of the BLEACH anime would be offered for sale…they were available in the past…I'd like to have something similar to the DVD box which went up to the Soul Society arc….
A323.
I'll let my editor know. Murakoshi-saaan!
Q324.
2022.05.02
I apologize for bringing up the anime, but in the Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale arc, among the Zanpakutō of the Captains and Vice-Captains whose names had already been established at the time, it was only Itegumo's incarnated form which did not make an appearance. Was this Kubo-sensei's intention? Or is it that the anime staff simply didn't come to you with an offer for Itegumo…?
A324.
Since I have no recollection of ever having met to discuss Itegumo, I think it's likely there were no plans for Itegumo.
Q325.
2022.05.02
What kind of person is Ikumi-san's husband? How old is he in your designs?
A325.
Ikumi-san is single in the main story, and she remarries in that space leading up to the Echoing Jaws of Hell arc.
Q326.
2022.05.02
Kubo-sensei, do you often reread the BLEACH tankōbon?
A326.
I usually don't read them at all, so I've almost forgotten everything. It's thanks to posting replies in this Q&A corner that with every round of questions I end up rereading the previous and subsequent tankōbon thoroughly.
Q327.
2022.05.09
Was it intentional that Aizen's origins and past are still largely undisclosed? I'd like to know because I often find myself thinking that there aren't many villains who possess that much charisma whose background remains unknown.
A327.
Most depictions of a villain's past are composed in order to draw out sympathy and a sense of relatability from the audience, and since I don't like that approach very much, I try to avoid it. All characters have a different set of values and I believe a villain is a character whose differences in that regard are so large that they cannot be accepted.
Q328.
2022.05.09
I was always watching out for this with bated breath, but I wonder if the reason Rangiku's breasts don't spill out from her Shihakushō is because she's holding them in place with Reiatsu? Did she actually have a nip slip once where nobody was watching? I'm curious if the reason why her chest is so widely exposed is because they cause her pain or perhaps it's a 'freebie' for others. I love how sexy her chest is.
A328.
I was drawing her with the assumption that she would affix double sided tape to her chest, but I like the idea of her holding them in place with Reiatsu better. Maybe I should use it.
Q329.
2022.05.09
I was surprised to learn that Kubo-sensei's hometown is the very town where I currently live and work (I felt a strong sense of familiarity at the mention of Soleil). So here's my question: roughly where in Karakura Town is the Visored's base located?
A329:
The Visored's hideout is around Spark (the name of a supermarket). I wonder if Spark is still there…?
Q330.
2022.05.16
The 7th volume with Byakuya on the cover begins with the line “We should not shed tears”, but at the time Kubo-sensei wrote this poem, did you already have an image in your head of chapter 502, "Falling Sakura" (where Byakuya is defeated by the enemy and sheds tears)?
A330.
I had no way of knowing where Jump would tell me to end the series, so it's not the exact version I had in mind back then, but I wrote it based on the idea that the tears would eventually be shed.
Q331.
2022.05.16
I would like to know how Yoruichi transforms into a cat. Is it a technique she herself had developed, is she able to shapeshift using a spiritual tool belonging to the Shihōin clan, or perhaps a device or technique developed by Urahara Kisuke? These are the only methods I can think of.
A331.
This is a technique developed by Yoruichi, for the purpose of sneaking out of the mansion whenever she pleases.
Q332.
2022.05.16
Have you ever tried Ayataka Café Matcha Latte? It's extremely popular and delicious.
A332.
Matcha based sweets aren't really my thing.
Q333.
2022.05.23
Where on Earth did Renji get that snazzy shirt with the Zabimaru-like design which he was wearing in the Human World in the final chapter? Was it custom made for Renji?
A333.
It's custom made. That t-shirt is nice isn't it?
Q334.
2022.05.23
On the Squad 10 introduction page in BLEACH 13 BLADEs, it says "Rangiku narrowly avoided having her Bankai stolen", has Rangiku acquired Bankai?
A334.
That's what is actually written there!? It's a mistake. How in the world did a mistake like this get in there…?
Q335.
2022.05.23
I have a question about the Shikai of Komamura's Zanpakutō "Tenken". When looking at the games and the anime, it seems there are two patterns in Tenken's Shikai ability: one where it partially summons Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō and does battle with its arm and sword, and another pattern where it accompanies Komamura's attacks with a mass of sword energy (?) that looks like an enlarged version of his own arm and sword. Which one is considered correct by Kubo-sensei?
A335.
"Summoning the arm of Myō'ō" is correct.
Q336.
2022.05.30
Regarding the resident certificate which is given as a bonus for joining this FC, I was surprised to see that Hueco Mundo was an option. Even in Hueco Mundo there are resident certificates…are there any public offices and such that manage it? If so, did Aizen establish and maintain it? These are the questions I thought about but I'd like to know sensei's opinion!
A336.
You might be able to tell by looking at the signatures, but Harribel is in charge of it and Hueco Mundo has started to become organized after Harribel began ruling.
Q337.
2022.05.30
You mentioned Momoclo in a previous Bambies related question, do you have any favorite idols and such? Did you happen to like Hinatazaka46 through Love it!? Is there someone you're rooting for?
A337.
When I see idols who were season regulars on Love it! appearing in other shows, I naturally start rooting for them. (*Love it! is a variety show in Japan.)
Q338.
2022.05.30
During the new captain's appointment ceremony in volume 74, Nanao-chan, who served as the host, is seen carrying a cane, was this an aftereffect of her fight with Lille? In the same volume, just a few pages before (the scene where she goes outside to call for Captain Kyōraku), it looks like she didn't have a cane, so I was wondering what the true situation is.
A338.
That's right. Either I forgot to draw it in the scene where she calls out to Shunsui or the detail ended up getting lost in the solid paint fill.
Q339.
2022.06.06
Is the reason why Ichigo's Bankai could not be stolen with a medallion because Ichigo's Bankai was mixed with Hollow power?
A339.
Correct.
Q340.
2022.06.06
You served as a judge for the Jump Gag Manga Awards, and I got the impression that there is a high percentage of gag manga among the works you find interesting, but do you have any plans or desire to draw your own gag manga?
A340.
When it comes to me, I just don't have the talent to draw gag manga, so I won't draw it. Gag manga are challenging works and only a select few can draw them.
Q341.
2022.06.06
About the color illustration from chapter 558 (depicting Ichigo and Renji inside a white coffin with a cross on it), it appears to bear a close resemblance to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" music video, is there any connection?
A341.
I drew the white coffin design quite a long time ago and when I saw the Bad Romance music video, I recall being rather indecisive about what I should draw because Bad Romance was released first. Ultimately, I ended up drawing it after some time had passed. That being said, the music video for Bad Romance was incredibly cool.
Q342.
2022.06.13
When the anime commences, will there be a BLEACH game released following Soul Ignition? Not so much an app or something but for game consoles….
A342.
I feel like I heard some rumor like that from my editor….
Q343.
2022.06.13
If the Quincy trace bloodlines, I think Uryū would notice that an Echt Quincy called "Kurosaki" existed until recently, but were there any documents, family trees, etc. compiled by Sōken? If so, did Uryū sense something extraordinary after being admitted to Karakura High school, in particular towards the fact that it was a human with the surname "Kurosaki" who possessed the high Reiatsu?
A343.
Books concerning the Quincy are kept in a locked archive inside the hospital. Uryū is forbidden from going there, nor does Uryū himself want to enter that place so much that he would go to the trouble of fighting with Ryūken. Additionally, the more important books are kept in Ryūken's private room.
Q344.
2022.06.13
I've been wondering about this for a while, but in the color version, Liltotto's clothes in her earlier appearances had long sleeves, is this something that was simply overlooked during your checks? Don't the Sternritter only conform to one style of clothing?
A344.
Really!? I had no idea because I wasn't asked to check that. Her outfit was always sleeveless.
Q345.
2022.06.20
I read on the internet that the heroine of BLEACH, Inoue Orihime, is modeled after Inoue Mayuko from Ushio & Tora. Is that true? Is it also the case that Tatsuki was modeled after Asako?
A345.
I'm not exactly familiar with Ushio and Tora…. Please check for yourself whether it's mentioned in any official statement anyway.
Q346.
2022.06.20
Is it possible for fellow Hollows to make children?
A346.
It's possible.
Q347.
2022.06.20
I was thinking that the "B" and "H" from Jugo and Bazz-B's Schrift are the letters which form each other's names, was this giving us a hint that these two were best friends?
A347.
Of course.
Q348.
2022.06.27
I want Hollow and Dragon figurines!!! Are there any plans to turn them into figurines? Where can I request one to be made for me? I want to line up all the Märchens!!!!!!!
A348.
Is this question based on the premise that I draw all the Märchens!?
Q349.
2022.06.27
Will the effect of Wabisuke's ability be lifted if the Shikai is disengaged?
A349.
It will be lifted.
Q350.
2022.06.27
When Shinigami engage their Shikai, sometimes It will be unleashed by calling the sword's name despite not uttering the release command, is there any difference between this and a situation where they do recite the release command in full? Just like how only those who have acquired Bankai are able to release their Shikai without calling the name itself, perhaps it's not the case that just anyone can do this?
A350.
Only experts can release Shikai without the release command, and even if they can, it will take time for its efficiency to reach 100% after the release.
Q351.
2022.07.04
If members of the Visored have theme songs, please tell us about them!!
A351.
Oh yeah, I guess I've never made a note of that. I'll write about them somewhere!
Q352.
2022.07.04
Please tell us what your favorite BLEACH movie is!
A352.
I like the Ulquiorra fight at the beginning of Hell Verse.
Q353.
2022.07.04
Is the healing ointment that comes out of Ikkaku's sword an original ability of the Zanpakutō rather than something that was added through modification? When I did some investigating, I learned that the Hōzuki plant was used as a medicinal herb in the past, so I thought, maybe?
A353.
It's Hōzukimaru's ability.
Q354.
2022.07.11
I have received my certificate of residence, thank you very much. Did you also inspect the packaging envelope? I have never seen such a stylish parcel before, I was totally blown away…. I'm truly happy that I was immersed in this universe even before opening my package.
A354.
I did inspect it. Isn't the design great? The certificate of residence is also the outstanding handiwork of Ishino-san who has been involved with BLEACH for a long time.
Q355.
2022.07.11
Will the birthdays of the Sternritter members be made public in the future?
A355.
Perhaps it will be revealed in the anime, I can't say for sure.
Q356.
2022.07.11
In an illustration previously exhibited at the Reverse Shibuya event, Rickenbacker was listed as a Broombuggy. His appearance is quite different compared to Marshall and Wordsworth, does this mean that all Dragons people ride are considered Broombuggies?
A356.
Broombuggy is the name of a Dragon species while simultaneously being something like a model number used for Wing Bind registration, so if an individual brings along their own Dragon and it passes the test, they can register it as a Broombuggy.
Q357.
2022.07.18
When designing a female character, how is the bust size determined?
A357.
It's not so much choosing a bust size, but rather it's more like deciding on the overall fleshiness of the character and then making it a size that suits.
Q358.
2022.07.18
The new BLEACH work looks so interesting, I could barely contain my excitement!!! I couldn't help but wonder if there's something hidden in the title, like in BURN THE WITCH, is the missing horizontal bar on the "A" in "BREATHES" simply a design choice? Or does it have some kind of meaning? Please give us a hint!
A358.
I was just playing around with a design for the rough draft and I didn't even really communicate this detail to my editor, but the design more or less gives the impression that the "bolts of Hell have come loose.”
Q359.
2022.07.18
In the one-shot, there are records adorning a whole surface of the wall in the 5th Division barracks, are those all Hirako's personal belongings?
A359.
That's right.
Q360.
2022.07.25
I read the new BLEACH one-shot. The individuality of each person very much stands out, even down to things like their Captain's haori, has the change in Captain-Commander resulted in a more lenient dress code, personal grooming and so on?
A360.
It's definitely become more lenient. I mean, the Captain-Commander is Shunsui so….
Q361.
2022.07.25
With regard to Captain Unohana's name, was it intentional that by giving her the name "Retsu (烈)", the kanji for "death (死)" can be constructed when parts of her name are combined? Also, if the aforementioned is true, is there a possibility that the details surrounding characters’ naming will be revealed in a future one-shot sequel?
A361.
If "Hana (花)" and "Retsu (列)" are cut in two and then connected together, the result is "death (死)". It was intentional, or perhaps I should say, I did it out of fun but it turned out right. If someone correctly guesses the wordplay in the naming like this, then I may acknowledge it, but I don't think I should be the one to reveal it.
Q362.
2022.07.25
Is the BLEACH one-shot drawn entirely with traditional art mediums? There were some parts here and there that looked like it could be digital, did you use both?
A362.
Illustrations of characters, illustrations of animals, visual effects and lettering for sound effects were all made using traditional art mediums, Anything outside of that is digital.
Q363.
2022.08.01
New Vice-Captain, Rindō, has made an appearance, but where did Vice-Captain Iemura go?
A363.
Given that Atau's abilities were superior, Iemura voluntarily made an application for himself and was demoted to 3rd seat. Even though Iemura was the one to raise the matter of his own accord, he was so depressed that Hanatarō, unable to look on in silence, summoned him back to the 4th Division where he was reinstated. In the end, it seems that the 4th Division, which has a lot of paperwork, is more suited for Iemura.
Q364.
2022.08.01
I read the one-shot! I was like "this is iiiit!" for the first time in a long while and it gave me goosebumps…. Is this strictly a one-shot, will there not be a continuation…? I would definitely like to read the rest!
A364.
I'm not good at drawing when I'm being told to “draw, draw, draw” repeatedly, so I'll consider it once I'm no longer being told to do so.
Q365.
2022.08.01
Was the color spread in the 20th anniversary chapter, drawn digitally?
A365.
The coloring is digital.
Q366.
2022.08.08
How does Ichika perceive Yumichika's gender? We live in a time where gender is a difficult issue, but I'd like to see a scene unfold where he's like "I'm a man" and Ichika goes "what!?"
A366.
She already knew he's a man from the start.
Q367.
2022.08.08
In chapter 188, when Isshin-san regained his Shinigami powers for the first time in 20 years, he referred to the Visored in his conversation with Urahara-san. During this scene, Urahara-san who had helped to contain their Hollowfication, acted as though he possessed no detailed information concerning their backgrounds or ideology. Was this information simply not revealed to Isshin-san and nothing more? Or is it that he truly had no idea what the Visored were planning at that time because he hadn't been involved with them since The Past arc, among other things?
A367.
This is because he concluded that there would be more of a benefit towards the management of Ichigo's Hollowfication if he did not divulge that information to Isshin.
Q368.
2022.08.08
I like the sound of Aaroniero Arruruerie's name. What is the origin of this name?
A368.
It's based on the designer Eero Aarnio.
Q369.
2022.08.15
I have a question concerning the phrase "Fill the earth and know your own powerlessness" in Kurohitsugi's chant. In the book of Genesis, after creating man (in the sense that man is the greatest thing ever created), the word of God states “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it." Are the words in the Kurohitsugi incantation modeled after this?
A369.
It's not the case that I used Genesis as a model, though Kurohitsugi's chant itself becomes a chant that speaks about all humanity.
Q370.
2022.08.15
In the new one-shot, Ichigo goes to Keigo's ramen shop and says "everyone came out to eat", but who exactly does he mean by "everyone"? Who else was there besides Mizuiro? Was Chad also with them
A370.
The one in the seat at the back is Uryū.
Q371.
2022.08.15
I love Dordoni, so I'd like if you could draw him a lot more.
A371.
Now that you mention it, I forgot to draw new pieces for Dordoni and his group for the art exhibition….
Q372.
2022.08.22
In the new one-shot, Ichika calls Renji "Tō-sama (*father)", but what does she call Byakuya?
A372.
"Oji-sama (*uncle)"
Q373.
2022.08.22
Sensei, have you ever seen derivative creations (fanfiction, dōjinshi, etc.) of your own work? Also, what do you think about such creations?
A373.
As long as the fans can find enjoyment in it with one another, they can go right ahead. Please send me male-oriented erotica. Because I read it.
Q374.
2022.08.22
I love the background music from the anime and movies and I listen to them often, was sensei also involved in the music selection?
A374.
It doesn't involve me. This is not because I'm not interested, but because I'm fond of Sagisu-san's work.
Q375.
2022.08.29
Aside from nobles, do seated officers live on the road to the seated officers' quarters? Do they live in detached housing?
A375.
Most of them do.
Q376.
2022.08.29
I was incredibly impressed after watching the video of you drawing on KlubOutside! Are you using a tracing lightbox from Bears.Seven? And is it being stabilized by the horizontal pipe behind it? Also, if you don't mind, I would be grateful if you could tell us what's going on with the space on both sides of the tracing lightbox!
A376.
I ended up buying a new ultra-thin tracing lightbox over and over again until I found one that I liked, I forgot the manufacturer's name. I'd be in trouble if it broke…. The space on both sides is chaotically littered with things.
Q377.
2022.08.29
Regarding Kyōraku-san's Bankai, Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū, if the opponent doesn't put up a resistance (that is, try to rise to the surface) at the Third Act: Dangyo no Fuchi, does it not transition to the Final Act? The story goes that "having resigned themselves to their fate, they hurl themselves", so I thought that if the opponent accepted it, then it would become a lovers' suicide just as the name suggests.
A377.
Not limited to the Third Act, If an opponent dies midway through, it is assumed that the "performer has disappeared", and thus the Act ends there.
Q378.
2022.09.05
When I look at sensei's work, the lines appear to be much bolder in the early stages, are your lines something you paid more attention to as a consequence or did you have a change of mind regarding this area? Or perhaps you merely changed your pen?
A378.
The lines became thinner for two reasons: for one, with that early method of drawing, the lines would come out too thick when printed in the magazine, secondly I gained more experience with a pen and it reached a point where I was able to draw faster.
Q379.
2022.09.05
Do you like robots? You are great at creating characters, creatures and fantasy. Someday, I would like to see a robot designed by sensei.
A379.
I'm not interested in robots right now so I don't think I'd be able to compose a good design.
Q380.
2022.09.05
After I saw Ichika, there's something I've been wondering about: what is the growth rate of a Shinigami like in terms of physical age? Does the growth rate eventually come to slow down as the physical body develops in age?
A380.
I'll probably write about this in a Fanbook.
Q381.
2022.09.12
Japanese translations of the chapter subtitles were printed in the Fanbooks, but are there any plans to publish the rest somewhere?
A381.
It was difficult to check them so I don't really want to do it….
Q382.
2022.09.12
How tall is Tōshirō at present, in cm? Has there been any change from 133 cm…?
A382.
He's 134 cm now.
Q383.
2022.09.12
When you were composing your designs for New Sakura Wars, did you decide on the framework of each character? I'm especially curious about Anastasia.
A383.
For Sakura Wars, the request came in with everything already decided down to the names, settings, personality, body type, hairstyles, colors and role, so my job was to draw the actual design of the character using my own art style, that's all there was to it. It's almost like "putting makeup on someone else's child “
Q384.
2022.09.19
Kazui's room made an appearance in the one-shot, what made an impression on me is the fact that it wasn't a children's study desk or the like which adorned the place, but instead it was very simple furniture. Is there some reason for that?
A384.
It's to Ichigo's taste.
Q385.
2022.09.19
I would like to know what foods Kisuke-san likes and what food he dislikes…. If there are any changes between the time he was a Captain and the time he became "Hat-and-Clogs", I'd definitely like to hear about both of those eras….
A385.
His favorite food is rice and the food he dislikes are too many to list. While we're on the subject, Yoruichi has no likes or dislikes at all when it comes to food.
Q386.
2022.09.19
Who came up with the title "WE DO knot ALWAYS LOVE YOU"?
A386.
I did.
Q387.
2022.09.26
Is it possible that Engetsu was not originally Isshin's Zanpakutō, but instead a Zanpakutō that once belonged to another Shinigami, like for instance, someone among the Five Great Noble Clans? I was wondering if the reason why no Shinigami connected the dots between Isshin and the Getsuga Tenshō used by Ichigo, was because they recognized Engetsu as a fire type Zanpakutō and were unaware of its ability i.e. "Getsuga Tenshō which gathers Reiatsu into a slashing attack"?
A387.
There are three reasons why the other Shinigami were not reminded of Isshin through witnessing Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshō:
Unlike the one used by Ichigo, Isshin's Getsuga Tenshō is a technique that gathers fire and Reiatsu into a slashing attack which is used at close range.
There are no opportunities for fellow Captains to learn each other's technique names outside of fighting together and training together.
In the Soul Society arc, Ichigo doesn't mention the name Getsuga Tenshō in front of anyone but Byakuya.
Q388.
2022.09.26
A long time ago on a certain program, Morita-san, who plays the role of Ichigo, mentioned how Kubo-sensei had pointed out to him the correct intonation of Getsuga Tenshō back in the early days. Did Kubo-sensei check the intonation of characters' spoken lines and techniques in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, which were implemented in Brave Souls but have yet to make an appearance in the anime?
A388.
I may not be able to check as far as the finer details for Brave Souls. For the new anime on the other hand, I spent several hours discussing and checking as many new names and vocabulary as possible. As long as I haven't missed anything in my checks, it should turn out great.
Q389.
2022.09.26
I would like to learn the particulars of how Shutara Senjumaru got promoted to the Zero Division. What did she (is it a she?) create? At first I thought it might be the Shihakushō, but I can't imagine that a Shihakushō is important enough to warrant a promotion to Zero Division, so I'm thinking it's probably something else.
A389.
It's the Shihakushō.
Q390.
2022.10.03
I would like to know how Abarai Ichika-chan rates her father's eyebrows!
A390.
She thinks they're the coolest shape in the whole world.
Q391.
2022.10.03
Does Kubo-sensei have a Kanken certificate? (*Japan Kanji Aptitude Test)
A391.
I don't have one.
Q392.
2022.10.03
What is the motive behind Kyōraku Shunsui choosing Yadōmaru Lisa as his Vice-Captain? I'm also intrigued by their relationship. When Kyōraku and Lisa reunite again during the Decisive Battle of Karakura in the anime, Lisa strikes him violently as if in greeting, Kyōraku then says something like "you're looking as cute as ever" and Lisa blushes in response. I'm curious because I think this would never have happened if Lisa wasn't conscious of Kyōraku in some way or the other.
A392.
This is one of those scenes where the checks didn't come to me.
Q393.
2022.10.10
I really love the well-built and good-looking mature men that Kubo-sensei draws, but I was curious about specific areas of the face or body where you exert the most effort when drawing these characters. If I have to pick one character, I would be very happy if you could tell me something about Zaraki Kenpachi.
A393.
All the characters are different in terms of what aspect I pay extra attention to, in Kenpachi's case, I imagine him with "dry-looking, tense muscles on a thin figure with prominent bones.”
Q394.
2022.10.10
Not long after assuming her position as Captain of the 8th Division, Yadōmaru Lisa is seen wearing a Captain's haori which had long sleeves (in the illustration from the novel "WE DO knot ALWAYS LOVE YOU" Lisa can be seen wearing what looks to be a haori with sleeves.) However, in the one-shot, it became a sleeveless Captain's haori. Did she have it altered to sleeveless or does she switch between two garments depending on her mood that day?
A394.
Immediately following that, Lisa used the haori Shunsui used to wear after cutting down the length of the sleeves.
Q395.
2022.10.10
The Seireiheki ordinarily protects the Soul King Palace, but do the gatekeepers of the Seireimon also normally protect the Soul King Palace?
A395.
I'll write about this here because it's probably not a piece of lore I'll ever draw, but the areas bordering the edges of the street around where the gates fall have come to be named "Marumaru-mon", they stand guard over the vicinity of those areas. ×[4]
Q396.
2022.10.17
Sensei, how many layers do you divide your work into when drawing an illustration digitally? If possible, I would also like to see a making-of video of your drawing process!
A396.
The number of layers depends on the illustration. All of the original color drawings from the BLEACH exhibition are still available as time-lapses, so I hope they can be viewed somewhere.
Q397.
2022.10.17
Kazeshini's chains appear to be expandable, but how does it shrink back after it has been expanded?
A397.
Shūhei does his best to shrink them back.
Q398.
2022.10.17
Given that Shawlong is the No.11 Arrancar, does that mean he was the first Menos among Aizen's forces to be turned into an Arrancar? In that case, why did Aizen choose him as the first test subject?
A398.
That's because Shawlong himself advised Aizen to try it on him first.
Q399.
2022.10.24
If Moguro Fukuzō from the "The Laughing Salesman" were in the world of BLEACH, who do you reckon would be the character that would likely be targeted by Moguro Fukuzō to have their souls filled?
A399.
Let me see, I wonder who… Shūhei…?
Q400.
2022.10.24
According to Ulquiorra's monologue, it seems that the fully Hollowfied Ichigo had used Sonído which is Hohō for Arrancar. In The Past arc from volume 36, it appears as though Kensei, who had progressed in Hollowfication, also utilized Sonído in the same way when he instantly moved behind Rabu. Could this be an indication that as a Shinigami's Hollowfication spreads from a state of being the mask alone to one where it affects the whole body, their existence grows closer to an Arrancar?
A400.
Correct.
Translation Footnotes:
×1. The "Shinigami Tōgakuin" is a name which appears in Souls character book, page 99. This is the name that is still most commonly used in Rukongai to refer to the Academy.
×2. Kubo is referring to Han-dynasty poems and legends, most notably: Ballad of Watering Horses in a Ditch by the Great Wall. Fish is used as a metaphor for letters sent by families far away as people would place their message in a wooden receptacle shaped like a fish. This receptacle would open down the middle thus becoming "two carp":
From a far land a traveler came and left me two carp. I asked my children to cook the fish and inside they found a silk letter. I knelt long and read the letter. What did that letter say? It started, Try to eat. and ended, I miss you always.
×3. Kōji Ōishi's Birthday stream featuring Tite Kubo:
https://www.youtube.com/live/nTwRin6T3VA?si=TmtttpxOOAdWnRLa
×4. Please note: "Mon" means gate but "Marumaru" is not really a name, marumaru is a symbol (○○) which we use as placeholders when, for instance, there is no name. So it's essentially like saying "such and such gate” until the named gate actually falls and replaces that placeholder.

Kingdom Hearts is Like a Chess Game...And It Explains the Characters' Story Arcs
If you've played the series up until KH3 you should know that the story of Kingdom Hearts and the characters within our current tale are likened to pieces on a chess board an ample amount of times, especially where Eraqus and Xehanort's chess-like game are a literal re-enactment of the events of the KH3 Keyblade Graveyard war between Light and Darkness.
Despite Kingdom Hearts' chess-like game being well...chess-like and and not an exact 1:1 of chess, we know at the very least that there is a "King" piece within the Kingdom Hearts' chess game. With the introduction of Verum Rex (Verum meaning true Rex meaning King) in KH3 as well as one of the secret endings with Yozora in Re:Mind being titled "Falsus Rex" (False King) entertains the idea that our KH chess game maintains the same (or similar) chess pieces that regular chess has. That is, a King piece, Queen piece, 2 Rooks, 2 Knights, 2 Bishops and 8 Pawns.
This being said, I want to explore which Kingdom Hearts character is which chess piece.
We know there is a Verum Rex/True King and a Falsus Rex/False King. Yozora is the True King of his Quadratum Universe. The Kingdom Hearts universe is the unreality-reality mirror to Quadratum, meaning that there must be a True King in the Kingdom Hearts universe as well. The true "King" of the KH Realm is most likely Riku, the Keyblade's original and true chosen and he looks nearly identical to Yozora as opposite Kings on a chessboard would. The False King, in this particular case, would be Sora since he wasn't the Keyblade's true chosen and only obtained the power because Riku fell to darkness and his heart's light passed the Keyblade to Sora making him the replacement/fake. However, I don't believe being a False King is Sora's true role in the Kingdom Hearts game of chess. I believe that if Riku's heart never fell to darkness, Sora would be a completely different chess piece that I will get to later.
The other pieces contain a Queen, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights and 8 Pawns, giving us a 15 pieces (16 total if you include the King). Now in the Kingdom Hearts game of chess there are only 7 (original) Light Guardians, however in the final battle there are actually 10 Total Guardians: King Mickey, Sora, Aqua, Ventus, Axel, Kairi, (and Riku) are the original 7 and then Terra, Roxas and Xion join the fight after being saved. 12 if we count Donald and Goofy and 13 if we count Riku Replica, but it doesn't stop there. Namine made an appearance as well and helped shift the tide by finding Terra's Lingering Will and connecting him to the battle, and Master Yen Sid also joined the fight in the graveyard. The final piece and final character to help in the war is the light from the past, Ephemer.
In other words, we actually have all 16 chess pieces present in the Keyblade War (on both sides if we include Demyx, Vexen and the Xehanort Replicas as the final 3 to the 13 Darknesses). If we match the pieces with the characters I believe it goes something like this based not only on their role within the War but also their importance and contribution to the overall story. Please know that some of these positions can be debated:
Terra - Rook. Terra reconnecting with his Will and Body drastically alter the events of the Graveyard. TerraNort single-handedly defeated all of the Guardians and Terra's intervention stopped them from losing and altered the timeline altogether. Plus, Terra was also carrying the Heart of Master Eraqus who ultimately ended the war by stopping Xehanort. Considering Terra's value to the War, I can't view him as any piece less than a Rook.
Ephemer - Rook. Though he plays a minimal role in the entire Keyblade Graveyard war and no role at all in the entire Xehanort Saga, his small appearance is what saves the wielders from total demise yet again to the Giant Demon Tide. Since he saved Light from expiring at the part in time where they were destined to expire he is a crucial chess piece. And for those who know chess, the Rook piece is required for a "castling" a move that saves the King (or again, the False King) which is exactly, to me, what Ephemer did.
------
Namine - Bishop. Her action of calling Terra changed the tide drastically. However, I will place her position as debateable as there may be others who you could count as a Bishop.
Yen Sid - Bishop. He saves the wielders from the Heartless Army, ultimately saving Light from expiring making him a key player in the War. Without him they most likely would have lost the war or would have been severely weakened and incapable of winning the war.
----------
Mickey - Knight. I give Mickey Knight status due to his Last Stand where he single-handedly pushed back all of the 13 Xehanort Replicas and saved everyone. It may not be timeline altering but it is still a contribution nonetheless.
Aqua - Knight. Debateable position, however Aqua took the lead at several points in the battle and barked battle instructions, almost acting like a military general. Thus I rank her above some of the others.
------------
Roxas - Pawn. Originally a pawn to Org 13, although he went through an incredibly journey he ended up locked away back into Sora's heart and wasn't able to participate or contribute to the war or storyline until he received a Replica body and Sora's connection.
Xion - Pawn. She was used as the 13th Darkness until Sora connected with her and helped Axel remember her.
Ventus - Pawn. He contributed to the war as an Original of the 7 Lights, but he did not alter the timeline nor save the Lights from expiring, nor did he take any lead during the war thus can only be considered a Pawn piece. Not to mention, he took an enormous backseat as a character after being asleep for 11 years. As such he hasn't had much time to shine since his Union Cross days. That may change in the next Arc, especially since he has ties to the Lost Masters.
Axel/Lea - Pawn. A literal Pawn to Org 13 for most of his story until the end when he final joins the the Guardians of Light. In fact, Xemnas even makes a chess analogy when calling Axel a "pawn" during his fight against Isa and Xion.
Donald - Pawn (extension of Sora)
Goofy - Pawn (extension of Sora)
Riku Replica - Pawn (extension of Riku)
And I know many will not like this, but I place Kairi as a Pawn. The reason isn't to shoot the character down, but I believe within the story she is literally treated like a Pawn. Her entire story begins with Xehanort treating her like a Pawn to get to the Keyblade Wielder. Narratively she is only used to push the stories further, constantly getting kidnapped or harmed. Some of the other characters are debateable but I stand firmly in that Kairi is a Pawn piece and it explains why she feels lackluster. She is meant to be, it's simply her role in the KH Chess Game. This doesn’t mean she'll stay a Pawn, as the Lost Master's Arc is starting a "new" KH chess game and thus the roles of many of the chess pieces (sans Riku and Sora) will change. I believe she'll be a Bishop in the Lost Master's Arc but as of the Xehanort Saga Kairi is only a Pawn.
But if Kairi is not the Queen piece, as I'm sure many of you initially thought, then who is?
I'm sure you noticed I skipped a character. That's right: Sora. Sora is the Queen piece in this game. A Queen piece acting in the place of the King, a false king. If you know chess you know that the Queen piece can move in any direction she wants as many spaces which is exactly what Sora is and what he can do. Sora is ridiculously OP as a character to the point he is often considered the most powerful and it's the Queen piece that is the most powerful, not the King piece as some unfamiliar with chess may believe. Sora can move any which way he pleases, even traverse time, travels worlds through hearts and hearts through worlds and even moves between Realms to save Riku from Dark Aqua as a Queen piece would rush to the save the King piece. All of which is reminiscent of a Queen moving all around a board in any way.
Riku is the King piece which is why the battle in the Keyblade graveyard wasn't considered over until Riku was defeated or checkmate'd. After Riku was defeated by the Demon Tide Storm, Sora was instantly knocked off the board. Also again, he is a mirror of Yozora much like the White and Black Kings in chess mirror each other. And if we think about the King piece in chess, Riku makes the most sense. The King is the most important piece and often times Riku is the most important to the story (especially Dream Drop Distance and now post Re:Mind) hence his character development and getting more development than Sora in many ways. In the Keyblade Graveyard War, he IS the most important as its his sacrifice that changes the timeline altogether and saves Light from Expiring. Without his sacrifice, the 13 Darknesses would have won and Light would have remained expired. It doesn't get any more important than that. In addition, if the Crown Necklace theory is proven true and Sora acquired his crown necklace chain from Riku, that means Riku was the original bearer of the Crown and most likely descends from Ephemer's Royal Line (which is all but confirmed, he literally looks like Ephemer) making him make even more sense as the King Piece.
Sora and Riku are the only two who I believe will keep consistent Chess roles as the King and Queen pieces. That's what their relationship is to one another. The only change I can see is Riku and Sora themselves officially swapping roles, with Sora becoming the True King and Riku relinquishing his role as King to become Queen. Considering the way Riku rushes to save Sora and how he travels to all ends to do so (including traveling to an entirely new universe just to save him once more and traveling between dreams to become a Dream Eater to save Sora), it almost is like he is beginning to move all around the "board" and could very well be showing signs of becoming a Queen piece to protect Sora, who would then become the new King piece.
We will have to wait and see which way this chess game goes in KH4 and beyond to confirm or deny any of this theory.
Anyway, that's all I have I hope you all feel free to share your thoughts. If you have alternate Chess Rankings, please feel free to share!

Ok, but like, imagine if nobody knew Wukong had a brother because Luzhen is always going off and exploring and stuff. He loves his best life, only ever having to step up as the Prince of Flower Fruit Mountain whenever Wukong is out or unable to be there. During the 500 years he was imprisoned, Luzhen had been protecting the island. Scared Erlang a bit because he had legit thought Wukong had escaped only to check the mountain and see the golden eyes monkey still there. Form there, he figures out Wukong must have a look a like or sibling. And decided that so long as Luzhen didn't cause trouble, it wasn't something he needed to bring to his uncle's attention. Surely, if they hadn't heard of him before, he must be tamer than his criminal brother! (Oh boy, was he wring when he finally got a chance to meet the two monkeys together)
Tripitaka learns about this when he has to visit the mountain, mainly because Luzhen wasn't going to let his older twin go back to that journey after he wa banished in the White Bone Demon arc and Ao Lie and Wujing ended up having to break Tripitaka out of whatever prison he was trapped in and drag his transmutation body to the mountain himself when Zu Baije was outright refused entry by what he thinks is a glamoured-to-hide-his-circlet Wukong (it was actually Luzhen with Wukong hiding in his room crying over how nobody had believed him) and had to go back to the Pilgrims like that
Prev.
Now I'm imagining various demons, celestials, and mortals coming to FFM to take over/hunt only to see who they think is the *exact same* monkey they think has just been imprisoned!
In the first few years, Wukong gets a lot of people coming to the mountain to check if he's still under there. Eventually, most assume that he either left a hair clone on the island, or that he employed a doppelgänger to mess with people. Only people who knew him before the war know that Luzhen is Wukong's brother.
Luzhen is basically the Fred Claus of Monkey Kings. Technically he's the Prince of Flower Fruit Mountain, but occasionally he introduces himself as the "back-up king".
The brothers do reunite briefly after Wukong is freed from the mountain and promptly abandons Tripitaka to go home, but Wukong ultimately decides to go back and do the Journey anyway. And of course Guanyin adds in the circlet to stop Wukong from trying to strangle the monk every time he annoys him. Wukong just sort of forgets to mention that he has a younger brother since he doesn't know the other Pilgrims that well yet.
Cue the White Bone Spirit Arc; where Wukong is banished from the group and not believed when he rightly identified the White Bone Spirit as trying to trick them 3x over. Wukong flies home crying at the injustice of being falsely accused.
I love the imagery of Ao Lie and Wujing getting so frustrated at everything thats happened over the Yellow Robed Demon Arc that they bust tiger-transformed Tripitaka out, so that they can all apologise to Wukong in person.
So now imagine the Pilgrims' absolute confusion when they go to get their monkey back, when they see who they think is Wukong (just with blue eyes) shouting and tossing rotten fruit at them. They know he's upset, but the obscenities he's throwing are a bit unlike him.
Tripitaka: "Monkey! I can only offer my sincerest apologies for not believing you in that moment! I am deeply sorry!" Wukong?: "Tell that to my brother, you empty-headed fleabag! He's inside crying like an infant! You get targeted by bloodthirsty demons literally all the time - why would my brother lie about three consecutive attempts on your life!?" Tripitaka: "I... pardon??"
It takes some back and forth between the Pilgrims, Not-Wukong, and the Stalwarts before the realize that the monkey they're talking to isn't Wukong, but rather a nearly-unknown twin brother!
Zhu Bajie loudly calls the idea an absurb lie until Wukong himself walks outside to see what the commotion is about, golden-eyed and wearing the circlet. Luzhen looks rather smug at the pig's aghast reaction.
Zhu Bajie: "Wait, there's been two of you this whole time!? Even back in Heaven!?" Wukong, sighing: "Yes. I been telling people for centuries but no one believes it unless they see us in the same room." Sha Wujing: "That certainly explains all the conflicting stories of you being in two places at once!" Zhu Bajie: "Then who was the one who did the Havoc?" Wukong, sheepish: "Um, that was still me. I was still pretty mad at not being invited to the Queen's birthday banquet." Luzhen: "I was there too! He tapped out after a single cup of wine and left to go ask Lao Tzu for some painkillers. I stayed back at to party in the orchard with the rest of the Brotherhood." All the Pilgrims: (*having separate moments of realisation*) Zhu Bajie: "You telling me our monkey is the boring one!?"
Lots of compromises have to be made before Wukong agrees to come back to the Pilgrims; one major stipulation being that Tripitaka believe Wukong next time he says something is trying to kill him, and to not default to using the Headache sutra when he thinks he's being dishonest.
Luzhen: "And if you use that sutra again - I'mma personally squish your head like a gourd so you understand how it feels for him!" :) Tripitaka: (*gulps nervously*)

Having watched all the finales of TOH, Amphibia and Gravity Falls, which do you think hits the hardest?
Ooohhh. Tough question. I think each finale had it's strengths and weaknesses, and I've actually had to think about this for a while.
Gravity Falls, for example, I can't think of obvious weaknesses--it was very thematic, cathartic and heartwarming, and the tension and stakes were well built and maintained. The only thing I can think of that weakens it--and even then, it only weakens it in comparison with Amphibia--is that it's a pretty safe finale. Stan gets his memories back, all the relationships are repaired, all the baddies are either defeated or redeemed. Dipper and Mabel are feeling better about high school and they're coming back next summer. This is fine--it's the perfect finale for the show, and it's the right conclusion for the themes emphasizing the importance of family and that it's possible to face your fears as long as you have people you can trust. So, I wouldn't even really consider that a 'weakness'.
The greatest strength of Amphibia's finale is that it doesn't shy away from the hard stuff. Instead of being an indulgent, happily-ever-after, it commits to it's theme hard, and shows an ever-after that isn't perfect but is still happy. I think the fact that the Amphibia finale is both satisfying and heartbreaking is what makes it such an incredible finale, because there are a lot of flaws with The Hardest Thing. The extra conflict with the moon, the cat guardian, all that was rather jarring, and I felt All In resolved the conflict in the way it needed to be resolved, without a last-minute stake-raising. But The Hardest Thing remains an extremely gut-punching, yet satisfying finale and the perfect conclusion to the series.
The Owl House finale is a good finale too. The conflict made sense, and it escalated in a linear form--there was no false ending, like in Amphibia. My two major complaints are about Luz's fake death and about the poor utilisation of the cast. On the first one, Luz's 'death' didn't have the same impact as Stan losing his memories or Anne dying because it wasn't the same culmination of her character arc as it was for the others, and also because we didn't get many character reactions. Eda and King were there (and the Collector), and while I do appreciate them not overstuffing the cast at such a crucial moment, it was kind of weird that Luz's mother, friends and girlfriend didn't even get to react to it. This ties into the whole 'poor utilisation of the cast' ideas--their Hexsquad got Luz to the head, and then they just hung around in the archives, and Hunter didn't even get to be present at Belos's defeat (and Raine did, which didn't make sense for the characters, really). And the epilogue was very sweet, I like (most) of the timeskip designs, and the future suited them. It was very self-indulgent, but that's okay--those kiddos went through so much, they can have a happy future. And while I do think the eventual finale didn't really tie in with the whole 'you have to separate reality from fiction' thing from earlier, the show pretty much dropped that theme a long time ago, and the finale was fitting for what the show had become. If we're talking about season finales though, Clouds Over The Horizon + King's Tide are unreal. Dare I say that they blow True Colours out of the water. Maybe I won't go that far, but still the TOH season two finale was incredible. So I know they can write a killer finale, and altogether, Watching and Dreaming was pretty good.
TL;DR: Gravity Falls has the strongest finale, the best part about Amphibia's finale was the way it committed to it's themes, and The Owl House's finale was also good, if flawed. The way each show ended was perfect for that show and it's themes.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF CROWNLESS (the Young Aragorn show that lives in my, and apparently many of your, hearts): Each season opens with the framing device of middle-aged Sam Gamgee sitting by the fire in Bag End, telling his kids stories about the King. If you don’t have a (historical inaccuracy-excusing) narrative frame in a Middle Earth story, wtf are you even doing?
Also, the theme song in my mind is "All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter" by Clamavi de Profundis, but I'm open to some other group doing their own arrangement of the poem.
so, key elements of season 3 (s1 and 2 here):
A couple times in s2, including notably in the season finale?, Rohirrim were involved…so at the very end of that season, King Thengel invited Aragorn to come serve in his court/armed forces. That’s right, it’s time for UNMITIGATED HORSE GIRL!ARAGORN HOURS!
(confession: I could be persuaded to combine s2 and s3, with some elements of s3 going into s4)
(and clarification: Aragorn isn't deliberately using a false name, but he's also not presenting himself as anything more than a random northern Dúnedain ranger, son of nobody in particular.)
The show starts to shift in this season: in addition to/in place of some monster of the week episodes, we get political drama of the week, and more ongoing plotlines. Also, I realized it’s as much ‘location of the week’ as ‘monster of the week’—that continues, centered around Rohan (which means we’ll retread some locations from s2)
First trip to Minas Tirith, on some diplomatic excursion!
fun canon LotR info: Thengel, Theoden's father, was a total Gondor stan - he lived there from his teens until he had to come home to take up the crown, he married a woman from Lossarnach, as King of Rohan he spoke Sindarin and Westernesse and not Rohirric...
so I'm gonna say that teenage Theoden is kind of resentful of that? He was born in Lossarnach, came to Rohan at age 5...but Rohan is his home and he loves it, and he wonders if his father is too enamored of Gondor to be the best king of Rohan. He's skeptical of Thengel recruiting this random Ranger to be a captain of the Riders. On the flip side, Aragorn is SO COOL, and superb with horses. and Theoden wants to be him when he grows up. It's hard, being a teenager and a prince, with 4 sisters. It's hard and nobody understands
Sauruman is there for an episode, being genuinely helpful but his vibes are faintly rancid. He's about to start building up Isengard as an armed power. If the season finale involves something like a proper battle again, he might pitch in.
Halbarad and Dúnawen might actually stay in Ithilien? Or they come along to Rohan but they just join the Riders without getting involved in court stuff at all. Aragorn is going to start doing more things on his own. They presumably have their own B/C-plot character arcs btw, I just don't know what
Roddis definitely stayed behind in Ithilien/Gondor. New in the cast, however, not from quite the start but maybe like ep7/22, or the midseason onward? Is a perfectly normal human woman with dark hair and grey eyes...
Arwen. It's Arwen.
Aragorn: Why are you here? Arwen: I am the daughter of Elrond Half-Elven. My grandparents include the Evening Star, White-Winged Elwing, and Galadriel, student of Melian who on separate occasions told both Fëanor and Eonwë to fuck off. Everyone who met her agrees that I look just like my great-great-grandmother Lúthien Tinúviel. The distant echo of the Doom of the Exiles runs in my veins, as do the Songs of Lúthien and the Light of a Silmaril. I know the weight of Fate when it settles on my shoulders like a mantle, as it did when you called me 'Tinúviel' beneath Imladris's twilit trees—but the Choice of the Peredhel remains mine and mine alone. So I have come, Elessar, Isildur's heir, to see if I actually like you. Arwen: Curiosity. Aragorn: [vividly remembering how in s1 his mom said, "She's way out of your league" and Elrond said, "You won't get married until you're king." (Aragorn: "...married to your daughter?" Elrond: "To anyone. Period.")] Aragorn: Cool. Curiosity is cool. I'm gonna be so normal about this.
(Spoilers: he was not entirely normal about this.)
(Spoilers: they super do like each other, though)
Idk what the backup rangers are doing overall, but I do want Aragorn and Dúnawen to still have some sort of romantic Thing in s2, maybe off and on again, as Aragorn thought Arwen wasn't interested and was trying not to just be moping about it... Then Arwen arrives and Aragorn is So Conflicted for like 1 episode, before Dúnawen comes to him like, "Aragorn, I love you as a friend and comrade-in-arms and I love you as my chieftain and king-to-be, and I could probably love you as a wife if we really tried...but you clearly have not just a crush but some sort of Destiny thing with Lady Arwen, so I'm going to go back to Ithilien for a bit, maybe get drunk and laid with a handsome barmaid, and get over you. While I'm gone, you should try, like, talking to her."
A thing that Aragorn and Arwen...do bond over, but more it's there to demonstrate their compatibility to the audience, is: ...So, we (the writers/producers) don't have the rights to The Silmarillion, right, just The Lord of the Rings and its Appendices, and The Hobbit. These do periodically namedrop people, however, with dashes of elaboration mostly in the Appendices...and Aragorn is established from the start to be a bit of a history nerd, because that's what happens when you're raised by Elrond...so periodically, Aragorn and his friends will be in a Situation and Aragorn will whisper, like, "This is just like when [Fëanor/Túrin/Tar-Minastir/etc...]—" and Halbarad or Dúnawen hisses, "Does that actually help us right now?" and Aragorn will say, "Sure!" and start doing something that Silmarillion nerds can recognize is inspired by whatever the person in question did in a similar situation (note: sometimes Aragorn deliberately does the opposite of what the historical figure did, and it works much better.) The writers very carefully do not explicitly reference anything not explicitly in the permitted texts. If they need/get to elaborate on a historical figure, they'll toe a careful line of Silmarillion canon and blatantly made-up things.
That happened more in s1, when the show needed to make good with the old fans, but also in s2. Aragorn remains the only one referencing this stuff. Then in s3, he and Arwen are...let's say captured by bandits, and Arwen murmurs in his ear, "I have an idea. You know in the Lay of Lúthien..." Aragorn's eyes widen. "Beren and Lúthien or Beren and Finrod?" Arwen: "Finrod." Aragorn nods, and they proceed to bullshit their way out of being captive with flawless teamwork and yes-and-ing (and maybe fight a wolf on their way out, just to be thorough).
No idea what this season finale is. Like I said, you could probably weave parts of most of this season into s2 and s4? But that would ruin the "a different significant geographical area every season" thing we've got going on.
[s4 here!]

I see your “river’s kits have a vicious power struggle after his death” and raise you “River adopted a kit later in life, and made this kit his heir”, leading to civil war as Riverclan almost fractures between those who value the Park Kingdom bloodline more and those who recognize that family doesn’t end at blood
I just get the idea that there are some older cats in Riverclan who have a more feudalistic mindset, old fashioned cats who believe the right to rule is in the blood, who believe Arc’s bloodline should continue to rule, not some dirty stray Riverstar took pity on. Of course this might not work with what you have in mind, but I thought I’d throw it out there
I’m also going to throw a free space on the bingo square, being “some characters have completely different personalities from previous books and are practically unrecognizable
(EDIT FROM THE FUTURE: Riverstar's Heir now takes place BEFORE Cloudberry and Ryewhisker.)
I like that idea a lot, I'll do that.
What I'm thinking at the moment is this; several of the "deputy" stories of DOTC will get combined into one, HUGE story that follows long after the last book in BB!DOTC. It happens in the Code Era of the Ancient Period.
Plots from COTC being thrown into this story like a soup;
Redscar's False Sign
Mothpelt Avenges his Father
possibly Acorntail's Blunder (also I forgot the canon names of these stories.)
The basic plot is that Riverstar, the final founder, is on his deathbed. He is ANCIENT by Clan cat standards, with many of his lives lost simply to old age. He's floating around 20 years old... and in his youth grandpa was WILD
He was in a QPR with at least 3 RiverClan cats, plus a happy, mutual fling with someone in ShadowClan. This is long before Honor Siring; it was well known that he fathered a bunch of kits. But, in his last days, he adopted a child who he was raising as his heir.
Now that he's dead, there's at least 3 major characters gunning for River King;
The Heir Child that Riverstar has adopted and is raising as his successor
The Blood Riverstar's oldest living biological child
The Advisor The cat who was the most qualified in the River Kingdom, equal to the deputy role in ShadowClan, SkyClan, and ThunderClan.
Another Clan (possibly Wind Coalition) even sees the opportunity to absorb the River Kingdom into itself. This has to take place AFTER Cloudberry and Ryewhisker, so maybe in this moment, Wind Co decides that they actually DO want to bring up the deceased Ryewhisker's claim to the kittens. Make Cloudberry a child of Riverstar, with a claim to the throne herself.
At the moment, I'm also thinking that the other leaders are currently Duststar of WindClan, Ravenstar of ShadowClan, and Owlstar of ThunderClan. I'm not sure who rules SkyClan, because I need to know if Sparrow becomes Sparrowstar.
Anyway, my BB redux of Riverstar's Home will probably be Riverstar's Heir.
The BB timeline so far; Hollyleaf's Century -> DOTC -> Thunderstar's Justice -> Moth Flight's Vow -> (Cloudberry and Ryewhisker's Code Addition) -> Riverstar's Heir

I do remember that GRRM said he wants the books to have a bittersweet ending like Lord of the Rings. Okay Lord of the Rings… the only Fellowship member who died was Boromir. The reason the ending was bittersweet was because sweet: Sauron was finally defeated for good, Aragorn became King like he was born to be, the Hobbits were recognized as heroes of Middle Earth, peace was restored. But bitter: Frodo’s wound never fully healed, the Fellowship was ended and they went their separate ways, Frodo and Gandalf and Bilbo and the Elves all leave Middle Earth never to return (man Gandalf saying goodbye always makes me cry). Perfect bittersweet. Which makes me think… GRRM won’t have any of the Key Five die (Dany, Jon, Arya, Bran, and Tyrion). Sweet: They will become the heroes of the Realm as the ones who played a huge part in destroying the Others. And they’ll survive and be able to live good lives. But bitter because they’re gonna have trauma to deal with forever, many of the people they knew died, and it will be a LONG time before Westeros and Essos are back to normal. I do not know if Jon and Dany will become King and Queen like I want but that would be part of the sweet. Still if they all survive, the Key Five, that’s really all I need. And I know Jonsas won’t be stopping with their bs but I would take immense pleasure knowing that they were wrong and their dumb theories were all proven false
@whitedragonwolf4961 Sorry for replying to your ask after a looooong time!
So yeah, I personally think that the key 5 will survive. I base this off the story so far in five books and also on GRRM's leaked 1993 original outline for the story, considering he has always insisted that he is heading towards his 1991 ending.
In the leaked outline, all of the key five survive. GRRM admits to using main characters like Ned, Robb and Catelyn to get the readers thinking that anyone can die while there's a set of characters - the key 5 - who will make it through all of the OG trilogy.
And yes, what would make it bittersweet would be the deaths of loved ones, friends and family, the large scale destruction that they would need to rebuild, their ongoing trauma - they have all gone through so much in these 5 books - the sacrifices they would need to make, the compromises. In that sense it's not going to be wholly happy - they are not going to come out in the end unscathed. Jon Snow has even died and we don't even know what version is coming back!!
And remember, reform and change is a major aspect of these characters:
Five central characters will make it through all three volumes, however, growing from children to adults and CHANGING THE WORLD and themselves in the process. In a sense, my trilogy is almost a generational saga, telling the life stories of these five characters, three men and two women. The five key players are Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and three of the children of Winterfell, Arya, Bran, and the bastard Jon Snow. All of them are introduced at some length in the chapters you have to hand.
The Key 5 have big political arcs, are involved in major events and are proactively in control of their own subplots in the books. The youngsters in particular - Dany, Jon, Arya and Bran - are angry about injustice and want to change how things are always done. Dany and Jon have big leadership arcs which are particularly about reforming city states and institutions. Arya's arc with the smallfolk is about her connection with them and the injustice they are facing. As Prince of Winterfell, Bran's empathy for his bastard brother Jon Snow means he signals that Lord Hornwood's bastard can be heir to the Hornwood lands.
I think that's the difference between the previous generation and the current one is that now our main characters don't look past terrible stuff happening and justify it in the name of 'I didn't know' while looking the other way or 'The oaths make it so I should let bad things happen' or 'This is how it's always been so let it happen'. They look past class and gender barriers and do things differently.
And after the Long Night, is when major reform and rebuilding needs to happen. Westeros needs leaders who are angry about what the smallfolk are experiencing, who put the people first, who have the leadership experience to rebuild and reform, in administration and politics and diplomacy, who can build bridges and enact laws - and GRRM has written all that for the key 5.
If they die at the end, then what's the point? So yes, they are very much surviving - in some form or other - though I suspect there will be a lot of sacrifice and compromise that will indeed be very bitter, precisely because good leaders/rulers care about the realm.

Big Terracotta and the "Let's overthrow Rendog" storyline
My knee jerk reaction to Ren saying they would be making minigames to fight over the permits because they wanted the plot to progress was "oh no NOT again". I initially thought of the minigames in the King Ren arc finale but I suppose it's also similar to the Mycelium War finale. I love minigames, but it's like another Ren vs Scar plot, which might very well (but not necessarily) extend into Neighbourhood vs Mountain plot (and I guess the Redditors will cry about a "civil war" because they've been anticipating it since the season began).
First of all: Big T is basically Ministry rebranded. It doesn't contain everyone from the Neighbourhood, but it's inherently linked. From what I remember of that stream from months ago, Ren's idea was for the Neighbourhood (at the time the Ministers) to band together and sell terracotta. To me, the Neighbourhood feels like it's become a conglomerate of its own: they live next to each other, they collab together, build farms and minigames together, and they have storylines together. The Ministry storyline pretty obviously formed the basis and set the tone. False's rivers permeate through the entire neighbourhood. They have a meeting spot and maps and roads and villager set ups and the bank of Iskall. It's not just "people conveniently live close to each other"— it's "people whose individual storylines intertwine". We got invested in the Ministry storyline. The minister roles felt fairly early season to me, so no surprise that it ended. Now we get Big T, which seems like an optimistic look forward with the idea of a "permanent" branded group because it's about selling a highly wanted commodity.
But what if it's not.... permanent? What if Short-T gets the permits? What then? Another rebrand? I have absolutely no doubts that the Neighbourhood, broadly speaking, will continue to hang out as a neighbourhood. At least until they run out of space / ideas in there. So it's not like they'll stop interacting if Big T ceases to become a thing, but that's exactly what it is— Big T gives them something to do. A common storyline. A collab opportunity.
Back to the Ministry storyline. It's a typical "Rendog seizes power" arc that we've seen before, prominently in S9 King Ren arc. But the thing is, it kind of fails at sculpting Ren as this awful leader who needs to be overthrown. (Partially due to Cleo's mic not working when they suggested overthrowing Ren, and there were also talks of people doing a coup, but in the end Ren decided to take the matters in his own hands.) Ren tries to be incompetent and bossy but they all end up indulging him. Because, despite everything, Ren is good at bringing people together, both in and outside of the game. He organises stream weekends (the others were thanking Ren on his shift during the last stream weekend, a while ago on another stream weekend Scar made Ren tear up with his heartfelt words). He "annoys" people into following him, and then he gets scared of the power, "annoys" people into overthrowing him, and BOOM Rendog kickstarts another plotline by playing the villain (again. And again).
(Arguably, Third Life also kinda followed this formula. I had a feeling Ren was trying to make the Red King unlikable by barging into people's houses and demanding them join the Red Army, and Martyn did "claim" he had "planned" to "betray Ren" from day one (looking at the camera with knowing but non-judgmental stare) but didn't do it.)
Point is, Ren has the personal charisma and thick enough skin to start groups and wrangle people into joining them. He's silly and the hermits love him, so they kind of bemusedly smile and let Ren drag them along. That's his first way of uniting people. Ren's second way of uniting people is by playing the villain, which he often employs and tries pushing it into this direction. In the Ministry plotline, the first way worked, but nobody cared enough to overthrow Ren (lol) so the second way didn't work that well.
... And I feel like Ren doesn't trust himself to play the role of a good leader. He has to be evil. Because he likes dramatics and being publicly humiliated (side glance) and killed. And also because he doesn't like playing the role of a good leader despite having clear visions of infrastructure / change he wants to achieve (S10 roads, S9 Hermit Quests). If anyone's dreaming big about community storylines and banding together to work on something, it's Ren.
So my fear for the Big T storyline is that Ren will seize power again and turn evil so they can overthrow him and Ren volunteers to be the villain for plot progression. I like seeing Ren being in the leader role. But to see him be overthrown again feels a little sad considering what they all went through so far. I don't want more self sabotage. I don't want Ren to go "yeah it's fine you can have it". I don't want Big T to lose the permits and disband. Obviously Big T isn't just Ren, but Ren is the main guy who does story and roleplay.
Good news: Big T contains competitive people who will no doubt enjoy defeating Scar and Bdubs. Bad news: those are the exact same type of people who like trapping Ren in pits. Even if Big T as a whole pulls through, I hope Ren doesn't do something stupid on purpose to set himself up. I want the power of friendship and neighbourhood solidarity to win. It's such a good overarching storyline and content.

Sorry for the long wait, I was super distracted this week, what with the drama going on Tumblr and being getting sick with Covid.
Anyways, I don't know what I was thinking making this or any of the drabbles of written in the past month, but just before I became sick, I had the "brilliant" idea of making an AU where everything's the same, except DIO and Medea's unhealthy relationship finally ended with the latter getting pregnant with his 5th illegitimate child during the "High Priestess" arc.
Basically she's like Jouta Kujo, except her birth is less cursed and weird, she doesn't exist in the main timeline, but she does in another.... it's for fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hypothetically, Stefani King-Tachibana (ステフニー キング-橘 Sutefanī Kingu - Tachibana) is the daughter of Medea and DIO from alternate timeline where their unhealthy relationship resulted in her birth, making her DIO's fifth and final illegitimate child alongside her half-brothers.
She was born into Japan sometime after the events of "Stardust Crusaders" being raised by her mother with the help of the Kujos and Keiji, she grew up not knowing her birth father but has accepted Keiji as a real father figure. She appears in "Diamond Is Unbreakable" as a secondary ally, Stefani was first introduced as an oddball child, but that was just a shield as she gets picked on at school for being a foreigner, in reality she is shown to be quite reserved and respectful to her elders and loved ones, as she is shown to be very caring of Noriko's wellbeing against Yoshihiro's enemy Stand users and has disowned DIO as her father upon learning what he did to her mother in the past.
It's later revealed that Stefani is a natural born Stand user like her parents, welding a Jorogumo-like Stand named [Spiderwebs]. Stefani later appears in "Stone Ocean" as a secondary protagonist, having made a career in women's boxing in her adulthood, she heard about Noriko's false imprisonment and rushed to the Green Dolphin State Prison to rescue her, eventually getting caught up in the many incidents involving Pucci's conspiracy and later meeting her half-brothers, the sons of DIO.
Like her half-brothers, she shares some of DIO's traits, such as having a hatred for her birth father for mistreating her mother similar to how DIO despised Dario Brando for doing the same, as well as crying out "Wryyyy!" when angry and having a talent in boxing.
~Name~ Japanese Name: ステファニー キング-橘 Romanized Name: Sutefanī Kingu - Tachibana Namesake: Gwen Stefani (American lead singer of "No Doubt") Dave King (Irish American singer of "Flogging Molly") Stand: Spiderwebs

Sooo… what was Lilith reaction to becoming an aunt of 2?
Well, her first thought is 'Did she steal children?'
Eda's response of 'no, i found them' doesn't help much.
But Luz actually endears herself to Lilith pretty quickly.
After Eda took her and King in, Luz was curious about everything, including Eda's family. Eda dodged a lot of the questions, but she did end up showing Luz a pic of her and Lilith as kids.
So when Luz first meets Lilith, she straight up asks Eda "Are you sure this is your sister Lily? Bc she had really pretty orange curly hair in your picture, and this lady doesn't."
To which Lilith responds with "Aww, you think it was really pretty?" before snapping back to 'hey im here to capture you for the Emperor' mode.
And Luz being around kinda ends up pushing Lilith through her redemption arc a bit faster. Anytime they run into each other, Luz is constantly questioning Lilith about the Emperor, the Covens, why Lilith is so insistent on making Eda join the EC, and just kind poking at all of Liliths doubts through genuine curiosity.
So by the time the plot is happening, the only thing keeping Lilith in the Emperor's Coven is the fear of the Emperor, not the false hope that he would actually heal Eda. She's actually trying to do what she said she would in the S1 finale, changing the Covens from within, but it's slow going, almost like its a system purposefully designed to be horrible to everyone under it and only benefit the top leaders, like Belos and the other Coven Heads.
And she's also held back by her own fear of how much Eda will hate her when she reveals that Lilith was the one who cursed her. But she's actually trying to wrestle that down and come clean, it's just a terrifying step to take.
Unfortunately, Belos doesn't give her the chance to take that step herself

Masters of the Universe newspaper comic: “Attack on Snake Mountain”
Last time, we were introduced to Gwildor, Saurod, Blade and his home planet of Merrian. This story starts with He-Man finding a mystically-protected door in the caverns beneath Castle Grayskull.
Then he turns back into Prince Adam for a ceremony at the palace. While writer Chris Weber chose to write out the two villains introduced in the previous arc, the Heroic Gwildor is sticking around.
Fans often resent Gwildor as a replacement for Orko. He was created for the 1987 film, on which it was decided that they didn’t have the budget for a character who’s always levitating. Here, though, they coexist, and Weber decides to have Gwildor try to befriend the little magician as a science project.
Meanwhile, a rogue guard named Robert has given Duke Tiberon, Eternia’s Prime Minister, a magic amulet that makes him rave about the need to destroy Skeletor.
Over at Snake Mountain, we catch up with Skeletor, who punished Evil-Lyn and Beast Man in the dungeons.
My, aren’t those two cute?
... Clamp Champ, how do you not see the problem with a plan consisting of “Hey! One guy! Journey to a mountain and raze it!”?
Robert is actually working for Skeletor, and this silly plan is actually a false flag planned by Skeletor. I’m not sure why.
The Swamp of Smokes has a tunnel to Snake Mountain, and Castle Grayskull is on the opposite side of it. In the Snake Men arc, it’s also where King Hiss went to release Sssqueeze and Snake Face. In the minicomics, he had to do that at Viper Tower... which lies between Snake Mountain and Castle Grayskull. You could infer that the Swamp of Smokes is what exists on the surface when the Three Towers are NOT raised.
The Sorceress sends He-Man after Clamp Champ, because if Snake Mountain is ever destroyed, Castle Grayskull would be as well. They’re both part of the balance of magic.
OK, I buy the “balance” thing, but “I’ll trick a man into destroying the mountain I live in” MAKES NO SENSE! Not only would it not work when Clamp Champ isn’t Superman, but why would Skeletor want it to?
The Sorceress takes He-Man to the warded door he noticed at the beginning:
Apparently He-Man can’t just travel to the Swamp of Smokes overland like a normal person, but has to use a passage through the Heart of Eternia to catch up with Clamp Champ.
The magic at the Heart of Eternia changes He-Man from just having Good power to “I am the Power!”
When he defeats Skeletor, Teela and Clamp Champ have to stop him from executing Skeletor.
When He-Man chooses to give up absolute power and only use the power of good, the Sorceress seals up access to the Heart of Eternia. THE END.
This marks the last time Chris Weber would introduce new characters from the toy line until the final story arc, which introduced “New Adventures” characters.
Characters who disappear after the story where they first appear:
Stonedar, Rokkon, Granita, King Hiss, Rattlor, Tung Lashor, Sssqueeze, Rio Blast, Ninjor, Scare Glow, Blast Attak, Extendar, Mosquitor, Saurod, Blade
Characters who stuck around:
Gwildor, Clamp Champ

Hey gang, back from the dead for a bit to share some recent headcanons I've been thinking up regarding the three new Doctors I've been working on. I'm waiting for commission art to get back before I officially add them, but for the newbies— Bumble, Purple, and Sleepy are the new Doctors who are arriving on their way. My ninth, tenth, and eleventh Doctors. I do have a twelfth Doctor, but he'll probably stay private for a pretty long time until I feel confident enough to bring him over. For now, my last three have been on my mind a lot.
Under the cut is a TON of headcanons regarding their characterization, as well as the commission details I have AT THE MOMENT. Final designs are on their way.
Bumble
Rascal incarnate. Comes directly after Pink, and I think some of those colors bled into her mind. Living life in the most cunty way possible. Disrespectful, punkish in nature, and absolutely bonkers. Out of these three, she's medium-sized. I like to imagine she's retreading One in some ways, maybe wearing a waistcoat & tie with a dress shirt, but then there are some jeans and chains here and there— fingerless gloves and boots. She's like a college professor and a punk-rock biker girl all in one. Wears those round sunglasses with bright red lenses when it's sunny out. I also think she's a pansexual nightmare. She wants to do crime and kiss pretty people, as well as spend most of her life driving with the top down. I think she realizes she might be approaching the end of her regeneration cycle, and is kind of going through it.
The Darkest Incarnation? Maybe. I think she's definitely up there. She's a little bit unhinged. Pink as an incarnation was very much pragmatic in his approach to violence. If he had to kill someone in order to defend himself or to protect his friends, he would. He's a Doctor fit for a harsh universe, but wasn't absent of that kindness that made The Doctor has as their core personality component. Bumble, following that mindset, and adding in that twinge of extra charisma— is someone who (when faced with the trolley problem) could absolutely justify trading one person for a hundred. She's more of a game player, I think. She plays mental chess with her enemies, lulling them into a false sense of security before pulling the rug out from under them. That doesn't mean she won't give them the option of surrender— she just doesn't offer it as much as any other incarnation would. She's a "no second chances" kind of Doctor, but doesn't actively preach toward someone about considering mercy if she knows they won't take it. "Two truths one lie I'll start— I have killed, I'll kill again, and It burns when I pee." energy.
Tired of being nice: Bumble is probably the most chaotic incarnation in my about. I think even Looney would struggle to keep up with the amount of energy she has and how generally unpredictable she is. She seems to lack a certain noteable amount of sympathy that other incarnations would have. The energy levels of Looney mixed with the general cold/bitterness of Goth. While Goth on his own was mourning his people, and had a heart of gold underneath all that rage— Bumble seems to be generally disinterested in being polite, nice and seems to lack a certain social awareness that other Doctors have on at least a basic level. I think she has a very party-girl lifestyle. She still helps out where she can, but she really does it from an "Oh, you're interrupting my good time" mindset. She would rather go to a club and get involved in someone's night then patrol the universe as a do-gooder. She really is a very morally grey incarnation.
Purple
The Comeback King: If Bumble following Pink was a challenging adjustment for the universe (and others) then Purple following Bumble is perceived at least as a bit of fresh air. I have no idea what kind of arc Bumble would go through throughout her life that would help her remember the fundementals of being The Doctor and doing what's right because you want too as opposed to doing good things because you have too. However, I think Purple does a sort of comeback tour. He definitely cares more about people then Bumble does, and definitely has an overall greater compassion for things and life in general.
Disorganized Twink: That being said, I think he's high strung. I think his TARDIS is littered with maps and charts and things. Mostly like books and stuff that help him figure out where he'd like to go. I definitely think that he gets involved in situations where The TARDIS doesn't land exactly where he wants it too (probably BECAUSE of his piloting, which is probably more jank and disorganized) and he gets involved in a situation, solves that situation, and then quickly gets on the move to try and see if he can get to where he was going— rinse and repeat. He has a TON of White Rabbit from Wonderland energy in the sense that he's checking his wrist watch a lot because he's late for something on another planet even though he has a time machine. He's also the tallest out of these three and has the most snatched waist.
Worse then your aunt but better then yer mum: Just like any Doctor— Purple is a lot to deal with. He's highly energetic and asks a lot of personal questions (just because he wants to help, though.) He lacks certain social graces, blurting out things before he speaks. He's easily distracted, can't keep his head on straight, and definitely is wound too tightly. That being said, he really just wants to be a good person, have a good time, and genuinely is just a good guy to be around. He's based on Matt Smith's Doctor, so there's a lot of those elements reflected here in Purple. He's serious and deadly when the moment calls for it, but chooses to maintain a sort of disorganized lifestyle because he feels like it works well for what he has going on. Life moves fast, and so does this Doctor. He has stay-at-home mom energy, sometimes. "Oh no they love orange juice but they been bad" tiktok energy, if you know what I mean.
Sleepy.
You're a devious man, Columbo: I'm NOT even gonna hide it. Sleepy is 100% based on Columbo. He is the SMALLEST Doctor on my roster, based heavily on the smaller columbo twitter account. While I haven't decided exactly WHAT his height is, part of me is thinking about making him a four foot short king. That being said, he does share a few elements with Columbo, but isn't like. A direct copy / paste. I think he's very laid back. He's got a sharp tongue and a quick wit, but most of what makes The Sleepy Doctor unique is his approach to his day-to-day adventures. He really is not the running about doing crazy things Doctor. He's very much a handles things very quickly and casually. He CAN be challenged, but I feel like he's the most difficult Doctor to combat— because he's so focused at absolutely all times that he probably has everything mapped out in his head. He's hyper observant and hyper vigilant, but he DOESN'T present that way.
Just a sleepy little guy: Which BRINGS ME to this point. The Sleepy Doctor is EXACTLY that. Sleepy. He's just this really sort of. Low energy incarnation. I think he realizes that his next incarnation is the last body. That means that no matter how Sleepy acts, or what he does— at the end of the day, it's up to the LAST GUY to figure out exactly what they need to do in order to either get the rest The Doctor deserves, or continue persevering. So The Sleepy Doctor is sort of committed to a low energy low activity lifestyle. This doesn't mean he actively ignores the danger in the universe and doesn't help out— he's very capable of that and often still does adventure. It's more of just the fact that the universe is in a state (thanks mostly to the combined efforts of the post time war Doctor's including Goth, Looney, Pink, and Bumble IG, and Purple as well) that he can sort of just RELAX. So he DOES. He's like a big ole sleepy cat— He's also just GENERALLY really friendly. He's laid back, and is probably the most domestic-fueled Doctor. He wants a life, wants to retire. He'll live in that era before the next guy has to start setting up things for finality. "I'm rechargin', so the next guy has a big ole battery."
GOJO ON MAIN? That being said, I don't think you wanna fuck with Sleepy. I think he's potientially the most dangerous Doctor. Super experienced, has a massive collection of artifacts he can use to trap his enemies or disable them entirely— and has a very, very powerful memory. Sleepy's Memory is EXTREMELY percise, to the point of basically being an incarnation-exclusive trait. He remembers exactly everything he needs to about an enemy, but plays it off like he doesn't. Nobody takes him seriously, but I cite Gojo Satoru as an example of Sleepy's characterization in ONLY the most basic sense in which: Visually, his eyes are closed almost ALL the time. However, when they're open, that means you've fucked with him to such a degree that you're being banished to the shadow realm, basically.

Disco Pigs: An Analysis of a Pig
When I was scrolling through Tubi TV last night, I came upon the movie titled "Disco Pigs". The title image looked tempting and I recognized one of the leads so decided to watch the first ten minutes. This turned into me finishing the whole movie and feeling angry, incomplete, and annoyed.
I went to the internet to try to find other people's perspectives on the film and found rehash after rehash of the same opinion. Spoiler Alert: Everything beyond this point is spoilers of the film. Go watch it and come back if you don't want to know how it progresses/ends.
Every review I read said that Pig wanted to die basically because he realized that Runt was developing a crush on Mackey and for him to die was the only way he could achieve his dream of him and Runt as King and Queen since Runt wanted to move on without him. I truly believe this is a false perspective. Here is why:
Pig's dream was Runt's dream - this is proven in dialogue they say to each other, in their career responses (they both respectively say they want to be a King and a Queen), and this is repeated at "The Palace" during their birthday.
Runt was interested in Mackey - but didn't like him romantically. She continues to brush him off throughout the movie. He repeatedly tries to get her attention and she always focuses back on Pig. It is only at the very end of the film that she gives in and decides to dance with him. But I don't believe this indicates she liked him in that way. She even said "Just to try, you know?" when he asked her to dance.
Both Pig and Runt felt the same intensity of feelings for each other up until the violence gets out of control. During Runt's very few monologues, she expresses the same disdain for humanity as Pig, she behaves similarly to Pig without the violence, and she doesn't care about anyone else except Pig.
Pig behaved romantically towards Runt before he fantasizes about her. He calls her pet names, they hold hands, they are close beyond a level of friends, and she blushes/feels sheepish when he compliments her clothing.
While she is holding Pig's hand, she asks him "What is the color of love?" and later when she is on top of him at the end of the movie, she says "The color of love is blue" referencing his eyes and the ocean he gave her as a present. She never uses the word except around Pig which I feel she is implying she loves him without saying it as they neither say it to each other, despite the audience knowing at least how Pig felt about Runt. Not to mention she has sex with him/makes out with him at the end of the film...
There are many other examples but I think that should be enough. Using all this, referencing back to the movie, what was the point? When I finished the film, I could not find the answer. There was no redemption arc, no true ending, no lessons learned. What was the problem of the story? The plot points out that the issue at the beginning is that Pig and Runt have been awful at school so Runt is going to be sent away to another school. However the only example we hear about concerning this is that they pasted pictures of themselves on some old photos in the principals office.
Wow, so extreme.
We learn that Runt's dad was abusive and Pig's dad was absent. Due to the level of violence that Pig reaches, it can be inferred that his dad was also violent given that the mother is very basic and not quick to anger. This is something that bonds them in addition to being born on the same day.
The final plot point that the film description and Wiki both say is the peak reason of the film is Pig's feelings for Runt change and the film is them navigating that change. "The film revolves around the intense relationship of the two teenage protagonists, Darren (Cillian Murphy) and Sinéad (Elaine Cassidy), who call each other "Pig" and "Runt," respectively. Pig and Runt were born at the same hospital at nearly the same time and grow up next door to each other. This brings about an extremely close relationship between the two. They live in their own world and rarely interact with other people; when they do, it's mostly to express their hostility toward them. Their relationship, while very intense and unhealthy, remains platonic until just before their 17th birthday."
Again here, I don't agree that their relationship was "unhealthy". The behavior that is shown in the film, before the violence intensifies, is childish, antisocial, average behavior of angsty teens. I didn't see anything unhealthy about the fact that they were close friends here. However, if the description is referencing what happens later in regards to Pig getting in more fights, I guess that is something.
There were several issues I had with this film outside of how others seemed to interpret it. The first being the few lines that Runt has does not reveal her true motives and feelings. We get loads of monologues from Pig and his feelings and how he thinks about his life and Runt - but Runt's lines are minimal and meaningless throughout the film. We have no way to know even how she feels about the fights Pig gets into until they reach the point of causing death. In the beginning of the film, when Pig breaks the nose of the liquor store worker, Runt laughs and plays along with the ordeal - seemingly unaffected by the action and this tells the audience this is normal behavior.
My second issue was Pig became the monster at the end of the film because no one was checking him. The mother didn't care about his actions, Runt didn't try to stop him until the very end, and she wasn't communicating to him how the behavior made her feel. Due to this, he continued to feel like his behavior was acceptable in the world just for them. I feel if she had communicated with him more (which you think she would after 17 years being friends) he would have calmed down and pulled back from the violence for her.
Third issue, and last I'll mention, is the ending. I do not see a reason that Pig needed to die despite what other reviewers have said. Okay, he killed Mackey in front of a crowd of about 50 people and ran off. He was still a minor, so he wouldn't have gotten off nearly as bad as life in prison. Additionally, if he was reviewed for mental illness - it would be clear something was wrong with him in that respect. He talks to himself, has violent outbursts, and his perspective is unstable. But to die to avoid jail basically is just dumb. And for Runt to go along with it is just as dumb.
The worst part of Pig's death is that Runt doesn't really seem effected and starts talking about the sun - then the film ends. No closure for what happens to Runt, no court trial for Mackey, no funeral for Pig - just "The sun is bright today" -roll credits-. Thinking back on it, I would have been more okay with the end of the film if something happened like it cuts forward a year or so and Runt is pregnant or has the child of Pig due to the beach sex and her loving him is carried on through the child or something. Something redeeming. But no - the sun.
In closing, this movie was good to a point, then it just became awful. I wanted the relationship between Pig and Runt to progress. I enjoyed the acting out of violence over the confusion of feelings Pig had and I felt they could have been roped in if Runt had just spoken to him. The ending was utter trash. If it is ever remade, I hope that the dynamic is revisited and the ending is changed. Otherwise - 2/10.

7 questions: Charlie Beeston from Emily Windsnap
three facts about them from my personal headcanons
Based on my headcanon that Beeston used to be a siren:
He was about Emily's age the first time he grew legs. Probably felt really weird and awkward for him. Just fits perfectly with how similar these 2 characters are! Based partly on @orithereticent 's headcanon.
Also as a young man he was Neptune's only male siren. Because Neptune trusts him that much. Beeston has this way of charming people and luring them into a false sense of security. Which he uses to his full advantage, to earn positions of power. As Brightport's lighthouse keeper, and Chairman of the Board, and much more. Plus his mom used to be a siren. He had definitely had the skills, and probably the good looks for it in his youth. Maybe a good singing voice too.
When Mr. Beeston grew too old to be a siren, he began training Jake to take over his siren job. Which is probably how Jake and Mr. Beeston met. So imagine how Beeston must've felt, learning the merman he taught to lure humans to their doom, has instead rescued and fell in love with one. Based partly on @kisari-v 's headcanon.
a reason they suck
Everything he'd done in Book 1.
a reason they are great
His redemption arc. It was so gradual and just so heartwarming! Book 1 starts with him being a cold uncaring man who ruins people's lives, then ends with him feeling incredible guilty for it. As he should. Granted he was working for King Neptune hence he couldn't say no. I think what made him awful is him showing 0 remorse until the very end. Book 3 ends with him and Emily JUST STARTING to try forgiving each other. Book 4 has him offer a much-needed genuine apology for everything he's done, and starts helping out of the kindness of his heart, not because he's just following orders. Ultimately Book 4 the first time he makes his own choices. Book 5 has him finally earn Emily's trust and forgiveness.
All this makes him one of my favorite characters in the series. a reason I relate to them
I love donuts! (what I consider to be) the top tier otp/ot3 for that character
Hmmm hard question. Mr. Beeston never has a love interest, nor has he shown any romantic feelings towards anyone. Given how loyal he is to the merfolk species, maybe someday he'll settle down with a nice mermaid or merman. Probably someone in King Neptune's court. five things that never happened to that character that I believe should have happened
He deserves a prequel.
Would love to see him and Jake work together, rather than just be told about it. We're told they used to be friends, so would love to see how and if they're still friends in the present timeline. Honestly I get a feeling that they're not. Despite working together.
Would love to see Emily sneak into his lighthouse at some point. Or look into his window or something like that. Because I always wondered what it looks like on the inside.
After Book 4, he should eventually show off his merman tail to Brightport. Would he do it the same way Emily showed her tail to everyone?
Would love to see how being a semi-mer affected his sense of belonging in Brightport. We're told he felt like an outcast in among the merfolk for it, did he feel the same way with humans in Brightport? Did he feel just as much an outcast in Brightport? Or did he feel more accepted in Brightport as humans there welcomed him with open arms? I think the only way to answer that, would be a story from his POV.
five people that character never fell in love with and why
King Neptune. Maybe a one-sided romance on Beeston's part.
Mary P. (too big of an age gap, and too much bad blood)
Jake (too big of an age gap, and too much bad blood)
Archie (too many conflicts of interest, they have the same boss)
Mystic Millie (again too big an age gap, also because he's much more grounded in reality than she is)
