Riku's VA, David Gallager, has been streaming KH1 on Twitch on his account @igobygraven with the intention of streaming the entire series.
He has revealed that he never played the games before and he never watched any of the cutscenes until now. About 2 hours and 30 minutes into Pt 1 of his KH1 livestream he reveals he only remembers his specific line recordings (not every line of course, but just remembers recording his lines and says a lot of his dialogue is familiar to him). Which means that outside of some of Riku's lines, he has little to no knowledge of the story of Kingdom Hearts.
I can not wait to see his reactions of every Kingdom Hearts title, but especially the end of KH2 and Dream Drop Distance. Oh David, honey. You'll be learning a lot about your boy Riku. 😂
Aside from that I highly recommend tuning into his stream! He's hysterical and a great joy to watch! Hopefully we can see Haley Joel Osment stream all the games one day soon!

"Love and sex make us human"
Wrong. Most animals fuck. Some reproduce without a partner. Then there are some that can choose not to fuck (like those that remain in their pride or family and forfeit the right to mate in exchange for safety).
Definitely a lot of them love. In their own way or even our way. Like... so many birds mate for life. Humans only wish for that marriage success rate...
Love and sex don't make us human. The absence of them doesn't make us human.
You know what makes us human?
COOKING.
Humans are the only creatures in existence to cook their food. To have a culinary culture. To purposefully change the molecular structure of their sustenance for fun, art, and pleasure.
So, in a way, at the root of it, is pizza over sex and romance.
Pizza makes us human.

i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.
in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. martha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.
But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.
our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1989. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.
anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

I truly hate the word "unalive." There are so many other euphemisms that fictional Italian mobsters worked so hard to provide you with and you just ignore them.

Do you ever think about how in earlier Sora/Riku scenes like the flashback in KH1 where we first learn of a meteor shower they saw as kids and their reunion in KH2, the song that plays is called “Friends In My Heart.” And that evolves into “Dearly Beloved” in DDD, which plays when Sora and Riku’s sound ideas meet, when Riku decides to dive into Sora’s heart to wake him up, and in KH3 when Sora and Riku summon the Combined Keyblade. And this evolution from “Friends In My Heart” to “Dearly Beloved” coincides with the evolution of Riku’s goal — going from wanting the strength to protect “what is precious” to “who is precious.” Riku admitting to himself how precious Sora is to him is the key to waking Sora up in DDD. Many (myself included) see DDD as a turning point for Sora and Riku’s dynamic — it feels more romantic from DDD onwards — and the fact that the soundtrack reflects that is crazy. “Friends In My Heart” even sounds similar to “Dearly Beloved.” It feels like a natural progression for the song, just like it’s natural for two friends to become something more. To fall in love.
