Chapter 2
The wind blew across the quaint area with no end in sight. Trees bent in submission to its anger and the wildlife around my small cabin hid in the shrubbery and the leaves on the forest floor. To add to it, the sky was gray, but I wasn’t sure if it was going to rain.
Ossian came inside from collecting the drying laundry, just to be safe. He didn’t like this weather as much as I did, so his tail was thrashing anxiously, his ears held backwards and his pupils pinned. He muttered to himself, jittery.
“Ossy,” I sighed, “you’re alright. Calm down, man, it’s just stormy. Grab a blanket and hunker down with me over here,” I told him gently, shifting over so he’d have room, but he settled in a different chair after grabbing his quilt. I sighed but let him have his moment.
Deciding it was too cold, I got up, my blanket around my shoulders and my hooves thudding softly against the packed dirt that served as our floor as I walked. I started a small fire in the fireplace, crouched down as I poked at it until it could stay going by itself. I could feel Ossian’s eyes on me, but I didn’t mind it, knowing he was trying to distract himself. I loved this sort of weather, unlike him; it soothed me, gave me peace. Grounded me, most of all. In a good way, it made me feel at home.
“Connie?”
“Yeah?” I looked over my shoulder at Ossian.
“Can you come here? Just need ya to stroke my hair. So I can relax.”
“Oh, yeah. Of course,” I stood up and walked over, standing behind his chair and running my fingers through his short-ish, fawn-colored hair. “How’s that?”
“Amazing. Thanks,” Ossian mumbled softly, his ears becoming at ease as I continued doing it. “You’re going over to help Dek later, right?”
“Yeah. You gonna be okay here by yourself? With the storm coming on and all.”
“I’ll handle it,” Ossian sighed.
I looked at the little analog clock that was on the mantle of the fireplace, biting my lower lip gently. “I should probably start heading over there.”
“Okay. Be safe. Take your coat, not just that flannel,” Ossian said, a gentle firmness to his voice.
“I know, Ossy, I will. Thanks though.” I set my blanket on the back of a chair as I went to find my trench coat. I got it off of the coat hanger it was hanging from and put it on, then set off to my room to dig around for some rain wraps, the door creaking softly as I nudged it open.
It took a bit of digging around in my storage trunks, but I found the wraps and put them on, making sure they’d stay in place so the chestnut fur on my legs wouldn’t be stained by the mud and grime of the roads. I got my gloves too, knowing it’d be frigid.
I grunted as I stood up, finally making my way to leave for Deklan’s cabin, waving at Ossian as I left. The sky was darkening quickly as storm clouds thickened. This was my favorite kind of weather, so long as lightning didn’t strike close. Thunder cracks scare the shit out of me. For now, though, it was perfect and calm. I saw—well, heard—small woodland animals scurrying in the tree branches above my head and the brush on either side of the path, and my ears swivelled to keep track of every other noise as I went at a trot through the forest. Everything was at ease for once in my life.
A loud squawk, followed by two sets of screeches, started somewhere in the trees, startled me out of my moment of peace. Looking up, I could see through the mostly barren trees, so I searched for the source of the sounds. Two raptors were tussling in midair, but one was much bigger than the other. I figured a juvenile had encroached on an adult’s turf, so I was about to let them be when the smaller raptor came tumbling down through the branches, screeching and flapping frantically until it hit the ground.
Without thinking, I went over to it, crouching down. I was cautious, careful to avoid its beak and talons. “Hey— Hush, I won’t hurt you,” I whispered, digging in my pants pocket. There was a small bit of jerky in there, so I offered it to the bird, letting it eat as I took off my coat to use to pick it up.
Once I had it in my grip, I immediately broke into a gallop. I was closer to Deklan’s, so I continued in that direction, making sure to avoid and hop over anything obstructing the path. I ignored the stinging cold now that my coat was off, letting the air breeze through my sweater as I ran with the pissed off raptor in my hands. It was trying to get through my coat as I held it, but it was too thick for its talons, so eventually it stopped.
I ran for a little while until I got to Deklan’s cabin, seeing him sitting on his porch step with a mug of what I guessed was tea. He stood up when he spotted me.
“Connie? What’s going on— why do ya have a bird?” Dek came to meet me halfway, having put his mug down.
“It’s a baby, it…” I had to pause to catch my breath, scrunching my nose, “It got in a turf battle with an adult. I dunno what breed it is, but it’s hurt.”
“Oh! Come in, then! August knows how to treat birds.” Dek ushered me inside, calling for his grandfather, who came into the dining room after we did, a slight limp in his gait from something that happened a long time ago.
“What’s going on?” August asked. His voice was gruff and low, matching his grizzled appearance.
“Conroy found an injured juvenile and we don’t know what breed it is.”
“Alright, move over. Let me see,” he commanded, shooing us to the side and taking the bird out of my coat. It shrieked at him, but he didn’t even flinch, instead giving it a slight but firm pap on the head to make it be quiet as he inspected the injuries.
“Deklan, get me the medical wrap and the scissors. Its wing is broke,” August told him.
“Yessir,” Dek nodded curtly and went to do as ordered. I just stood there, observing, since nobody was telling me what to do.
“Conroy, my lad, come here and help me hold it down,” August beckoned me over, and I obeyed, listening as he instructed me on where to put my hands and how as Deklan came back with the scissors and wrap. August took them and unspooled a bit of the wrap, then cut it when it was at the desired length and started to gently tie it around the bird, pinning the broken wing to its body. The raptor made sounds of distress the whole time.
When August finished, he picked the bird up and went to find something, so Dek and I followed curiously. He uncovered a large bird cage in the den and opened it, setting the juvenile raptor inside before he shut and closed the latch on the door.
“You boys go on now, I’ll keep my eye on it,” August grunted and waved us off.
I flicked my ear at that, quiet for a moment. August intimidated me, so I wouldn’t protest. I looked up at Dek. “Hey, uh. Got another coat I can wear? Pretty sure that bird tore up mine.”
“Yeah, sure,” Deklan gave me a smile and led me to his room, dipping inside to get coats for us. “We were gonna go hunting today, right?” He asked as he emerged again, giving me his tan canvas jacket.
“Mhmm. Good thing I left my stuff here,” I sighed, putting on the massive jacket on our way outside and to his shed.
The behemoth of a blond pried open the stiff doors of the shed, then moved aside for me. I stepped into the dingy little thing, searching the mess for my bow and quiver. My belt of throwing knives were strapped to the quiver too; I liked having everything in one place.
Eventually, I found them, putting the belt on around my waist, the quiver on my back and my longbow in hand. Dek had found his crossbow and darts, the latter being in a leather pouch on his hip.
“Ready?” He chirped, his tail flicking calmly.
“As I’ll ever be,” I quipped back, smiling when he snorted in amusement. “Where’d you get the darts? I thought you ran out last time.”
“I might’ve stolen them.”
“You’re a damn idiot. At least you got away with it, lucky bastard,” I teased lightly, tapping his back with my tail as I passed by to get out of the shed.
“As far as you know,” Dek mused and followed me out, knowing I knew these woods like the back of my hand, even though he was a lumberer and supposedly had it all mapped in his head. I knew where game can be found.
“Dekkie, if I have to help you bust out of handcuffs again, you better repay me this time,” I scoffed, looking back at him with a brow raised and both ears perked.
“Alright, that’s fair enough.”
“In silver.”
“Now that’s a reach.”
“I thought you could steal.”
“Not money, Connie. I’m not that bad.”
“I’d like to argue,” I smirked cheekily.
“Shut up, fucker,” he said casually, except he lightly flicked my arm.
“Never, bitch.”
Dek laughed, playfully shoving me with his hand on my shoulder. I giggled too, enjoying his company more than anything else. Despite knowing him for, oh, two years now, I’m positive that I’ll never get sick of him. He was a mess and a half, sure, but he was intriguing in many ways, and I was determined to learn them. I often wondered if he thought the same about me. It’s a shame he was only interested in mares and was way out of my league.
We walked in a comfortable silence for a while as I led the way towards a good hunting ground. Leaves and frost crunched under our hooves and the occasional bird song rang out pleasantly, as there were yearlong residents here. We were searching for ptarmigans, though, since it was the perfect time to find them; they were almost always at their plumpest, their meat tasted excellent, and their winter feathers made great insulation for making snow clothes. Their bones could be made into jewelry. Nothing about them was wasted here.
Most of the trees had lost their leaves by now, so the sky was clear to see, but it was dark and cloudy today. I could tell it would start snowing heavily soon, but we could get some hunting in first. Thank the skies.
Soon enough, we stopped when we got to our destination. “We’re close now. You go towards the creek, I’ll take the clearing. I’ll neigh if I need you to come to me, and you should do the same if you need me,” I told him, making sure my jacket was buttoned up completely, finding my arm guard in my quiver and putting it on my left wrist.
Deklan nodded in acknowledgment, his shoulders rolling as he got a bolt loaded in his crossbow. “Alright. Where do we stash our catches?”
“Hm, good question.” I looked around at the surrounding trees, trying to see if one of them had a hole. “There, that oak. Put them in the hole in its trunk,” I instructed, pointing at the oak I was talking about.
“Okay, got it. Later. Be safe,” Dek nodded curtly before starting off, breaking into a trot.
“You too,” I returned. I too trotted off toward the clearing, trying to be as quiet as I could, but the leaves were the worst.
When I got there, I found a low-lying branch on the edge of the clearing to settle myself on. It’d be a while before I saw a bird worth killing, but if a squirrel or a red deer stag appeared, I’d take the chance to get at what they gave. I was running low on arrows with usable tips; a stag would fill my quiver, and if it had and impressive rack, I’d be able to make better knives. Squirrel pelts made good hats and their meat made decent trap bait and jerky, so I killed those more often. Stags and hinds weren’t the kind of animal to be hunted regularly.
I got to thinking about that bird that was still at Deklan’s cabin with August. It looked so small and feeble while August had mended its wing. I couldn’t help but pity it, and I was still worried about its wellbeing. If its wing didn’t heal right, I’d have to look after it, and I’m so not sure that I could handle that responsibility. Maybe Ossian would help out. I sighed softly.
I saw movement on the other side of the clearing, so I snapped out of my daze and pulled an arrow from my quiver, nocked it, and took aim. To my surprise, though, it wasn’t an animal; it was another beygir, and they didn’t seem tense. They weren’t Deklan, nor anyone I knew, for that matter.
I studied them curiously, letting myself relax my arms and hold my bow to the side. The unknown beygir was tall and well-built, and although they were wearing a thick coat, I could tell they were muscular. I guessed they were a stallion, just because he was taller than me, but he had long platinum-blond hair and what looked like grayish ears with white patterns. As a matter of fact, he had large markings on his face as well, but I couldn’t see them clearly.
He walked calmly around the oak that was towards the middle of the clearing, then stopped and dragged his hoof down the trunk. He left a mark there by doing that.
The stranger suddenly stopped and turned, apparently alerted by something. Thinking he could smell me, I drew my bow again, just in case he was hostile and started moving towards me. He did turn in my direction and probably saw the arrowhead poking out from the tree, so he eased his posture.
“Who’s there?” He called out, putting his hands up as a precaution. “I’m no harm. I’m from the military. This is my hangout spot,” he added.
I was silent, but I did creep out of the tree, my tail raised high and my ears pinned, keeping my bow drawn and set. The stranger kept his eyes on mine, his tail curled around the outside of his thigh; a sign of respect.
“Have I intruded?”
“No. I’m hunting here, but this is nobody’s land,” I grumbled, gekkering at the end. It sounded like a rattle more than my own voice, but it was an effective warning.
“Ah. My apologies.” He flicked the white tip of his tail. “I’m Officer Fallon Driscoll. My rank is junior cadet.”
I stayed quiet again. A relative of Commander Driscoll.
“What’s your name? You said you’re hunting. What’re you searching for?”
“Conroy Reid. Ptarmigan. My friend’s nearby doing the same,” I responded hesitantly, reluctantly putting my bow downward.
“Ptarmigan? I can show you a better place to hunt them,” Officer Fallon offered, putting his hands back down slowly when I lowered my bow. “You can call your friend over too.”
“He’d be coming anyway,” I huffed. I eyed him before I bellowed out a high-pitched, raspy neigh. I’d never grown out of my foal’s pitch. Fallon’s ears flicked in response, and that’s when I noticed he had two pairs, the smaller set below the primaries. “Butterfly ears.”
“Excuse me?”
“You’re a butterfly,” I clarified, flicking my ear. “I’ve never seen that kind of thing. Thought it was a myth.”
“Oh. Yeah. It runs in my family,” Fallon said nonchalantly. “It’s useful. I could hear you.”
“Really? I wasn’t even making any noise.”
“Your breathing. Hooves against bark. Tiny things like that, I can hear. Within a certain distance, of course,” Fallon explained. I just tilted my head.
Deklan finally came trotting up, but when he saw Fallon, he aimed his crossbow immediately and glanced at me. “Conroy?”
“It’s fine. He’s decent, as far as I can tell,” I reassured him, although I still didn’t trust Fallon one bit. Dek eased reluctantly.
“Hello! I’m Officer Fallon Driscoll,” he perked up, but Deklan aimed at him again at the sudden movement. “Easy, friend.”
“Name’s Deklan Blackburn,” Dek said tensely. I walked over to him and made him lower his weapon, then crossed my arms as I turned back to Fallon.
“Dek, he’s taking us to better hunting grounds. Relax a tad,” I whispered, shifting my weight.
Deklan looked at me, his ears turned out to the side. He pursed his lips and nodded, hitching his crossbow to the sling around his shoulder, scratching his bearded chin.
“Are we—Are we all settled now?” Fallon asked cautiously.
“I guess.” I flattened the front of my jacket. “Lead the way.”
“Well, I, uh. Don’t have the time to go with you, I’m just on break,” Fallon sighed, digging in the large jacket pocket on his chest for a second. “But I have a map. One moment,” he said as he got a pen out as well, making some marks on the paper. I tapped my hoof as we waited for him.
Fallon came over to us to hand me the map when he was done. I thanked him quietly, waving my tail.
“Okay, I’ll leave. Farewell, Conroy and Deklan,” he murmured, then trotted off briskly, probably to find a new spot.
I watched after him until he disappeared in the trees, perking my ears. “Alright…” I mumbled. I then looked down at the map he’d given us. “Dammit. Do ya have a compass?”
“Yeah. Here,” Dek grunted as he got it out of his pocket, giving it to me. “Dunno why I have it. I can hardly use it.
“Cheers.” I held the compass next to the map, orienting ourselves. “Okay. Let’s follow this. It looks like it’s in the foothills,” I said as I started heading in that direction, Deklan following close behind.
Thankfully, the foothills weren’t far, so it wouldn’t be long. I was the most efficient with a compass out of the two of us; Dek was helpless and would probably get lost. I thought it was amusing.
“Hey, Connie. There’s your stag,” Deklan whispered after a good while, nudging my shoulder. I looked up and saw it, so I stopped, handing him the map and compass. I took out my bow and drew an arrow, waiting patiently for the right moment. My eyes remained on the stag, and when it turned slightly towards us, I let my arrow fly.
Surprisingly, I actually got it right in the skull, so the animal staggered slightly before collapsing. I jogged over to it, quietly thanking its soul as I removed the arrow and started cutting off its rack to make the body easier to move. I tied the antlers to my belt and had Deklan help me lift it.
“We ought to take this back to your house first, huh?” Deklan sighed, making sure I could carry it on my own.
“Yeah. Good idea, actually,” I nodded, walking towards his cabin so I could get on the road, the body slung over my shoulder. I led the way, of course.
I couldn’t stop thinking about the stranger we’d met—Fallon, that’s his name. I’d seen him around in town amongst the other guards, but I’ve never spoken to him before we ran into him just a moment ago. Those markings of his were unique; they surrounded his mouth and his nose, and he had spots around his eyes and near his hairline. His fur wasn’t gray like I thought, either. He had the darkest brown fur I think I’ve ever seen, but his hair was an impressively light blond with even lighter strips in it. I’m sort of surprised he’s related to the High Commander.
Part of me hoped we wouldn’t see Fallon again, regardless of whether or not he was kind to us.

Piranha 3D is the definitive answer to a question no one asked, namely: What if Haribo® made horror movies for teenage boys? Cineastes be damned, on its own terms Piranha 3D is a success; a tawdry success, yes, but the movie’s terms are entirely tawdry ones. Piranha 3D is so cheerfully and apologetically in thrall to adolescent priapism, hedonistic crudity and visual overload it would be useless to judge it by any terms other than its own. Is it is as good as Ace in The Hole (1951)? “Wibble” is the only acceptable response, m’lud. Visually Piranha 3D is an eye scouringly bright delight with hyper blue water, vibrantly viridian grass, Sunny Delight® sand, and Whoever®’s raspberry sauce blood splashed with maniacal abandon over the acres of taut, tanned Cheeto® orange flesh. Piranha 3D is gaudy, gory and bawdy as all get out, delivered with all the stylistic tricks you’d expect from Alexandre Aja (Switchblade Romance (2003)). All the stops have been pulled out to make Piranha 3D the gold standard in preposterous piscine peril. All the stops bar one - the script.
Which is a real shame, as a strong script could have made Piranha 3D appeal to people other than those in thrall to their wayward hormones. After all, the original Piranha (1978) remains a fun watch due in no small part to a strong script by John Sayles. I just never understand how that happens with a movie, when everything is great but the script. It’s just total false economy. The script is the cheapest bit. (Sure, there are exceptions; but they are exceptions, that’s why they are called exceptions.) All the other parts of a movie costs enough to buy cowboy hats for everyone in Britain; in comparison the script is chump change. But that’s where the Hollywoodians perpetually penny pinch. The script here is just basic stuff. None of the characters have any, well, character. (I may have used that before; I will probably use it again.) There is Weedy but Hot Scientist in Glasses (Adam Scott), Hot Scientist in Hat (Dina Meyer), Hot Cop Mom (Elisabeth Shue), Hot Imperilled Boy Teen (Steven R. McQueen), Hot Imperilled Girl Teen (Jessica Szohr), Hot Knocker Model 1 (Kelly Brook), Hot Knocker Model 2 (Riley Steele), Hot Rubber Faced Porn Goon (Jerry O'Connell), Imperilled Small Male Child (Sage Ryan), Imperilled Small Girl Child (Brooklynn Proulx), Eli Roth in a Cap (Eli Roth in a Cap) etc, etc …
Such a waste; it’s like making a pair of comedy boobs out of gold! Because Piranha 3D’s cast is pretty golden. But it is also pretty wasted too. While Elizabeth Shue is always a pleasure to watch, she’s even better to watch when she has something to do. Richard Dreyfus turns up in a boat and sings that song he sang in Jaws and dies; and if you think that’s a good use of Richard Dreyfus then you are Pete Goldfinger or Josh Stolberg and you are terribly, terribly mistaken. Sure, affable Adam Scott turns up but he has to internally generate his own aura of affability as the script gives him none. Ving Rhames is here too, to growl and remind you how fun Ving Rhames is in stuff. Dina Meyer might as well have been a balloon with “Dina Meyer” written on it as she is barely shows up before she’s fish food. The only actor stretched is Eli Roth, who has to play Eli Roth in a Cap; which he just about manages. Mind you, goombahing about spraying squealing women’s chests with a giant water gun is possibly the most artistic thing Eli Roth has ever done, and there is something sociopathically satisfying about seeing his head crushed to gooshy pulp between two boat hulls. So in many ways Piranha 3D is a triumph for Eli Roth. I understand, however, he was not recognised by the Academy that year.
The tragedy is compounded by the fact that the movie isn’t even (intentionally) funny. Jerry O'Connell (a familiar face to any Brit with kids thanks to TV’s iCarly) is a comedy gift the movie chooses to spunk unenthusiastically away. He gurns so hard throughout you can almost hear his bones cracking, but his gurning is to no avail, alas. If the sight of Jerry O'Connell eaten from the hips down, but still gurning like Jerry Lewis on crack is funny then it’s not down to the script. I can’t remember one line of dialogue from Piranha 3D, but I can still remember the line “People eat fish, Grogan; fish don’t eat people!” from the original. A lack-lustre A to B plot and leaden lines offset by a fine cast and frenetic direction and it’s looking like a tie quality-wise. We need a tie breaker, people; and Piranha 3D just makes it over the line to a fun time thanks to the excessive and inventive gore. For every protracted scene of two nude ladies swimming under water for the boner crowd, there is a woman getting her hair caught in a propeller and having her face torn off for us mature high-brow sophisticates. Some might call the gore excessive but what sad soul is not enlightened by the sight of a severed penis bobbing about on screen for so long it should have a credit (Introducing Severed Penis as Itself). Join a Union, severed penis! Don’t worry, Piranha 3D is an equal opportunity offender; when one of the Hot Knocker Models gets gnawed her implants lazily float to the surface like strange jellyfish. Actually that bit is quite funny.
That’s the thing about Piranha 3D, it’s insidiously disarming. You know you shouldn’t be enjoying it and you know it’s no damn good, but the longer you watch it the more fun you find yourself having. It’s kind of intoxicatingly stupid. I mean, I said it wasn’t funny back there but I was being kind of disingenuous. I think what I meant was - it’s not artfully crafted comedy. There aren’t any jokes as such, it’s the cumulative, implacable stupidity of the thing that’s funny. It’s just dumb. Which is okay; dumb will do. Like autism, comedy has a spectrum and dumb is definitely one of the primary colours. Piranha 3D certainly commits to its dumbness with an enviable gusto, and there’s something to be said for that. If I was 14 years old Piranha 3D would be the best movie in the world; it’s not Piranha 3D’s fault I’m not 14 anymore. Damn you, Father Time! Damn your eyes! Also, I didn’t watch Piranha 3D in 3D, so maybe in 3D it really kicks Citizen Kane (1941) in the ‘nads. Doubtful, though.

I sighed silently as I laid on my side next to Ossian, looking at the clock on the motel’s nightstand. It was five in the morning, and the others would be waking up soon. I carefully got up, grimacing deeply when my back ached to Hell and back no matter how cautious I was.
I made my way to the bathroom, a hand on my lower back, finding it was hot an swollen. I felt like I was going to murder something if this didn’t stop soon.
I turned on the shower, making sure it was as cold as it could get, before gently pulling off my shirt and knee lengths. I got in, sighing at the ease the cool water gave, even if the water pressure was absolute trash.
Around ten minutes later, I got out, not wanting to waste too much water despite still aching. I could barely get a step away from the shower before a searing pain erupted from all up and down my back. I screamed in total agony, collapsing to my hands and knees. A nasty ripping sound came, then several wetter, nastier thumps. Then it was just over. I groaned softly; the pressure had been released, but there was still stinging.
“Connie?!” I heard Declan call, “Are you alright in there, mate? Open up!” The doorknob jiggled.
“Yeah, one second,” I sighed and got up, noticing a bloody scene on the wall behind me, then I saw what looked like three pairs of totally featherless wings hanging limp from my back. I froze before my knees and hocks gave in, hitting the floor again.
I heard shouting from the other side of the door, but didn’t respond. I hardly even flinched when Declan sent the door into the opposite wall.
“Oh my God,” Fallon muttered upon seeing me, the other two at a loss for words and completely pale.
“Connie... what...?”
“I don’t— God, I don’t know.”
Your back has been aching for weeks now, every movement sending jolts of pain through your nerves. This morning as you slowly and gingerly get out of bed, you can feel your whole back throbbing. Though you want to sleep longer, you know you have to make something to eat, as there isn’t really anyone else around to do it. Hesitantly, you press your hand to your back, swallowing thickly as you find your skin incredibly hot to the touch, noting some swelling as well.
Deciding on a nice cold shower, you shakily stand and begin hobbling to the bathroom. After barely five steps, your vision suddenly whites with agony. Screaming out, you fall to your hands and knees, clutching at the floor with a white knuckled grip. There’s a sickening ripping sound, followed by a few wet thumps, and you feel something hot and wet splatter all over you.
You’re still in pain, but there’s some relief now, as if a pressure has been released. Shakily you lift your head, eyes widening in horror at the display of gore that now covers the room. You just barely register something soaked in blood, arching out to the side from your back, before you pass out, the ordeal simply too much for you to handle.

Hi, I know this is a pretty big question but could you do a small summary of each story in the aberration theatric? I'm super interested in it but I get overwhelmed trying to read up on it 3:
i would love to!! i love talking about my stories ;-;!! i’ll try to keep um short and sweet! feel free to ask about any of them for more detail!!
i have each set of stories seperated into arcs based on some very weird and complex organization but I promise u they’re organized this was for a reason
♠ The Aberration Theatric ♠
A series of interconnected stories about being hurt by the people you care most about, the anomalies existence topples down around and the birth of a god.
arc 1: (And your Teeth)
Pretty Rotting Proxy- A story about kids growing up, revolving around the legends & strange happenings in Ausdrear, Maine; a dying town that no one seems to be able to get away from. Riddled with decades worth of secrets and cursed by the monsters left in place of infants.
the desert witch- A spiral of coincidences leads to the death of a 17 year old boy many years later.
the nowhere boy- A 17-year-old boy is murdered by the people of his town he and a curse is left in his death.
Drowning,1956- A girl investigating the disappearance of her girlfriend finds herself drawn to the mystery surrounding a rumoured town who’s population was slaughtered overnight in 1956.
arc 2: (And your Eyes)
hydrangea home for orphaned girls- An orphanage comes to the startling discovery one of their children doesn’t exist.
the killing things room\THE FEAR GAME- A group of online friends find themselves each encountering stranger and stranger occurrences after receiving a strange chain email from a friend who’d been missing for the past year.
polly driscoll is not dead- A strange radio broadcast leads a group of rouge detectives to believe a missing girl, previously thought dead, is alive and in danger.
ASHLEY STRANGE IS DEAD- Siobhan Strange returns to her home city of Havnen, Maine to investigate the strange circumstances surrounding murder of her family.
and the dim streets they haunt- A series of non-linear stories following the (increasingly odd) lives of the Sykora family as their numbers diminish and the walls around Havnen grow.
arc 3: (And your Skin)
the god effect- Ellix Hunt seeks out The God Tower in a world ravaged by an apocalypse and the collapse of reality.
the violet child- The death of a local recluse leads to the discovery of her strange daughter and the development of a friendship between two ostracized middle-schoolers.
poinsettia. - A young boy struggles to survive in a post-apocalyptic city where no sun reaches and a 9 year old god rules.
terrible 7 project- A college student finds himself involved in a project seeking to stop the apocalypse before it happens.
a close of curtains- A young monster traverses The Death Planes in search of it’s missing head.
arc 4: (And your Brain)
the end of the world in letters (from god)- An artificial witch created by Nowak Corp. receives a letter from god calling her to witness the events that will surmise in the end of the world in 9 months.
Of the Moon (And the sun)- A documentation of the life and destruction wrought by one of Nowak Corp’s head scientists, Dr. Fallon Rana, told from the perspective of everyone but the Doctor himself.

Prom Dates on Parade
Our eyes and ears on the street have been reporting in, folks, and here’s the latest scoop on whose going to the prom with who. Just going to head down the list of students alphabetically.
Aiden Dunwall and Amity Rath - Oh man this one is a scandal and a half, have you seen her dad glaring at him in class? The boy is an ornery little shit alright. But they’re always smiling in each other’s company and he seems to actually respect her as opposed to what, 90% of our classmates? So maybe these two are more than just dates.
Aiko Koizumi and Bhalfyr Khyrrados - No I am not shitting you right now. We here at the Grapevine have it on good authority she asked him this week and he’s rolling with it. Why sugary sweet Aiko wants anything to do with our resident edgelord has yet to be seen, but one thing is sure; nobody saw this coming.
Athena Clark and Wiley Whisper - Hot new couple on campus coming through, rumor has it they started officially dating this week. They make a cute couple but without much of a scandal to pick at with the two of them there isn’t much left to say about that.
Belfamroas Daniels and Sharlaren Daniels - Okay I’m just gonna come out and say it, why do they have the same last name? Are they like, married already? Some weird brothers thing? Same foster family? They’ve surfaced in a few classes, on a few missions, but like, what is up with these guys?
Byron Masters and Zihna Farling - I mean, they’re both running for prom royalty and on that weird line of are they a couple or aren’t they. The official word on that is no and yet everybody keeps saying yes, but we’ll have to see about that.
Chadwick Airikkala and Iliana Vasiliev - Another dark horse couple with a lot of scandal surrounding them. First of all, she’s a three star and doesn’t do a whole lot around the school anymore but since Chadwick is still a student and a fixture around here we’ll put them in this category. The big question is, will his ex-fiance try anything?
Corina Lupei and Quote Calhoun - The Owl and the Wolf. The gaping age difference between them makes it pretty clear these two are going as friends, but who knows, stranger things have happened.
Creed Hemlocke and Rhys Miles - I mean, they’ve been a couple for years now, this isn’t a big surprise.
Jun Matsuoko and Linda Kennedy - Another hot new couple on campus. Kind of weird because rumor has it Ashlynn wanted to climb him like a tree at one point and Idol hearthtrob Jun went for the younger model. Ouch.
Lenz Petersen and Nelly Cruz - Garçon de jardin Lenz asked Nelly to the prom shortly after she got out of containment and every time they’ve been seen together it’s been nothing but smiles. Seems like these two really needed to find one another. Cheers guys.
Lily Killian and Sinead Tiernan - Lily’s a grad but Sinead’s education is still in full swing and even still it’s nice to see two tough as nails girls coming together for some cute.
Murdock Snow and Vale Keighley - Are they besties? Are they just screwing around? Are they involved in some weird illicit thing with Damian Wolf? Only time will tell.
Pele Kapuni’ai and Max Vellachi - What else is there to say? They’re our “Most Likely To Get Married” for this year and who can be surprised about that? This is harmony at its finest.
Princess Bryant and Rococo LeFevre - Everything about this match up screams “Power Couple”. Like wow. Whatever battlefield they choose, with swords or in the board room, the world had better look out. This time, it’s the dance floor.
Shiyu Koh and Sigfried MacLir - Is anyone surprised? Nope.
Singles - Here are the people that, as far as we know, have yet to find dates and we’re not sure if they’re looking but if you are and want the list here it is.
Damian Wolf
Darwin Riley
Deco LeFevre
Dee Williams
Delvin Restrali
Domingo Flores
Grimsley Lixandriou
Ian Dalton
Jahaira Bwakali
Jazzy Vargas-Teldi
Mason Riley
Melody Han
Renee Doe
Rin Mitsuhige
Rose Bryant
Ruby Killian
Tea Larsen
Tishawna Jones
Yvette Lanson
??? - The following people might be going to the prom or not? Like, okay, what is up with the upper classmen? Some of them are moved out and onto other things but still hang around the school and others are still attending classes but like, second degree deathscythe and higher, but we don’t know if they’re going to be at the prom or not.
--Artemis Knight
--Ashlynn Kennedy and Martin Logan - They’re a long time couple and I’ve heard rumors they’re going to attend but both are post deathscythe and past what you’d call traditional student status so we’ll see.
--Carver Hackers and Katarina Knight - Well known couple, both graduates, might still make an appearance? Hard to say.
--Eddy Ducari and Tawni Kaleja - Is he a student? Is this a thing they’re going to do this year? Inquiring minds want to know.
--Timber Jones and Esperanza Acosta - Both are still around but living in town right now and both are post deathscythe so this makes for another weird one.
--Fallon Driscoll and Sagan Elsegood - Post deathscythe, living in town, but Sagan is still taking classes and he’s been spotted defacing some of the prom posters in this guerilla artist kind of way--it’s art because he’s not got a specific target. So they may well show up.
--Isaac Mason - Okay so he’s not a grad but it’s up in the air if he’ll show up or not because of the situation with his girlfriend which we are going to take 100% seriously. Really, this is off limits for mocking or speculation give the boy nothing but support if he does show up or somebody will punch your face.
--Kay Alkaev - Actual polar bear. Kind of hoping she does show up because that would be pretty awesome.
--Lien Xun and Jian Shi - Okay so Lien is a student no question but the real mystery here is whether or not her mystery man will make an appearance for her. Has anybody ever actually seen this guy? Like outside of old tournament videos?
--Magatha Terrence
--Navika Hiranandani and Owen Danvers - They’re in India. I mean. They might show up, they might not? My money is on no, personally, but it would be pretty cool if they did, certainly turn a lot of heads.
--Ram Wolfe
--Ren Fairchild
--Xerxes Padan
