Pakistan’s Babar Azam in T20I
When Babar Azam takes the field on Friday, 14 April for the match against New Zealand, he will become the third Pakistan player to feature in 100 Men's T20Is
Shoaib Malik (123) and Mohammad Hafeez (119) are the two other Pakistan players to reach this milestone in men's T20Is.
The level-headed Pakistan captain is well known for his flamboyant batting style and along with Mohammad Rizwan forms an intimidating opening pair in T20Is.
As we celebrate his 100 T20Is, let's have a look at some of Babar's top innings in the format.
Tumblr media
122 off 59 v South Africa, Centurion, 2021 — Babar and Rizwan are a force to reckon with. While Rizwan plays the role of an aggressor more often, there have been times when Babar has blown away the opposition with his explosive shots. The third T20I against South Africa in 2021 was one such example.
Chasing a formidable 204, Babar took the lead almost right from the start. After taking a couple of overs to adjust, he started pummelling the bowlers all over the park. His 50 came in just 27 balls and he accelerated after that with aplomb. He ended up with 122 off just 59 deliveries but unfortunately was dismissed with Pakistan needing just 7 to win, nevertheless having brought his side to the brink of victory. Pakistan then chased the total with two overs to spare. It was also Babar's first century in the format.
Tumblr media
110* off 66 v England, Karachi, 2022 — Babar's second T20I century was no less impressive and this time it came at home. After losing the first T20I, Pakistan needed to hit back. England batted first and scored 199/5. Chasing another 200 score was not going to be easy but both Babar and Rizwan were in a different mood altogether. Babar, in particular, led the charge, smashing 110* off just 66 deliveries as Pakistan registered a 10-wicket victory over England. It was Babar who hit the winning runs, an inside-out four through covers celebrating a dominating win.
Tumblr media
97* off 58 v West Indies, Karachi, 2018 — Babar's first Karachi masterclass came in 2018, four years before his hundred; an almost century innings against West Indies at home. Batting first, Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman early, who had opened the innings with Babar. The 24-year-old Babar Azam had only hit three fifty-plus scores in his career then and came close to scaling three figures when he took on the Windies bowling attack single-handedly. Pairing with Hussain Talat at No.3, Babar hit 13 fours and a six on his way to 97* off 58 deliveries. Pakistan put up a huge total of 205/3 and defended it easily with their strong bowling attack.
Tumblr media
79* off 53 v New Zealand, Christchurch, 2022 — Babar's 79* was not in an high-scoring encounter but a low-scoring chase against New Zealand's celebrated bowling attack in their own backyard. The Pakistan bowlers had done their job keeping the Black Caps down to 147/8 in their 20 overs. But the hosts were not going down without a fight. They removed Rizwan early and crippled Pakistan further with a second wicket, leaving them at 37/2 in the sixth over. But Babar kept going. He rebuilt the Pakistan innings, first patiently stabilizing them, then pouncing on the bad balls to put them away. He formed crucial partnerships with the middle order and though New Zealand got a couple of more wickets, they had no answer to Babar. The Pakistan captain remained not out as the visitors claimed a six-wicket victory in the 19th over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
68* off 52 v India, Dubai, 2021 — The famous ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 match. While there were many heroes in the game, Babar's contribution to it cannot be forgotten. After India were restricted to 151/7, Pakistan went all out with the bat to bamboozle the Indian bowlers. Rizwan was sensational and Babar played the perfect fiddle for him. Both batters complemented each other and pummelled the Indian attack without any rest. Babar hit the winning runs helping Pakistan to their first victory over India in the history of the tournament.

Pakistan leads New Zealand 1-0 after goals from Fakhar (117) and Imam (50)
Tumblr media
Pakistan eased to a five-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first one-day international in Rawalpindi thanks to Fakhar Zaman's ninth ODI century and Naseem Shah's phenomenally economical bowling. They achieved their 500th ODI victory in the process, becoming the third team to do so; They reached the milestone in 949 games, making them the second-quickest team after Australia, which did so in 811 games. After a 124-run opening stand between Fakhar and Imam-ul-Haq, Pakistan never seriously threatened to lose despite being set 289 to win. They got over the line in the 49th over and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series thanks to forty-nine runs from captain Babar Azam and a cameo appearance by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan lower down the order.
Match Report
New Zealand had reached 288 thanks to Daryl Mitchell's second ODI hundred. The foundation for a score of over 300 had been laid by a century-and-a-half partnership with Will Young, whose own 86-ball knock came in just 78 balls. However, Pakistan's precise death bowling and the visitors' inability to score boundaries kept them in check. That was largely due to Naseem, who was at his metronomic peak at both the beginning and end of the innings. His figures of 2 for 29 in his ten overs ensured that New Zealand would not reach the 300-run mark they appeared to be on track for the majority of the innings. Pakistan's best performances in this format over the past four years were the model that was realized during the chase. The heft of the run-scoring was finished by Fakhar, Imam, and Babar; There is a reason why Pakistan has relied on their top three for runs more than any other team. While New Zealand's openers had started steadily, Pakistan began energetically on a surface that presented little risk to the hitters. Matt Henry and Adam Milne were milked and hit for boundaries occasionally, but when the 100 partnership came up in the 19th over, their truculence became more apparent. Fakhar siphoned Mitchell for a six back over his head while Imam did likewise to Ish Sodhi before long. Pakistan appeared to be on the right track by this point, as both men had reached half-centuries. Sodhi struck the following ball after discovering a few holds and catching Imam in front, yet just prepared for one more lengthy organization, this time among Babar and Fakhar. Maybe those two would take the game directly the entire way to completion. The Pakistani skipper seemed at ease from the opening ball as Fakhar slowly advanced towards yet another ODI century. He punched the air before the customary sajda when he did arrive with a drive-through extra cover. Shan Masood, on the other hand, was brought into the box by a missed shot from Babar from 50 yards out. After a little struggle, he was soon on his way back, missing the 12th ball to extra cover with just one run added, and New Zealand had the tiniest of openings once more. However, Rizwan would skillfully stop it, hoping to end the game's danger by counterattacking. This he did with a lot of success, and even when Fakhar went down for 117 at the other end, he made sure the home team didn't get too wobbly. In the penultimate over, a smear over midwicket sealed the deal, giving Pakistan the victory they seemed to be worth throughout the game. Pakistan had previously decided to bat New Zealand out on a hot day and a flat track. The bowlers got going keeping the openers on a chain, especially Naseem, who tracked down sideways development and an additional yard of speed, permitting only 12 runs in his six-over spell. However, the wicket came from a bowling change when Haris Rauf took the outside edge from Chad Bowes in his first over, completing a bowlers-only powerplay. New Zealand, on the other hand, began to expand into the innings as the field grew. Young started to find his feet, particularly in opposition to the spin. After a 51-ball 50, he cleared Shadab for four and Agha Salman's most memorable conveyance for a six. Mitchell quickly began to become an effective backup act as Pakistan continued to use spin to little effect. Youthful seemed to set out toward a blustery hundred as the organization crossed three figures and New Zealand sat pretty at 150 for one in a shade north of 26 overs. Yet, Shadab struck as Youthful holed out in the quest for another limit, and however Mitchell was just settling in, New Zealand would never entirely stand up for themselves similarly once more. Momentum was sucked out of the game by Tom Latham's struggles at the crease, where he made 20 of 36 shots before being lbw to a juicy full toss. Mitchell scored two boundaries against Shadab and four and six against Nawaz, but he received little support. After Rauf removed Mark Chapman from the game, the innings never really progressed beyond the last 25 overs, when only three boundaries were hit by Mitchell. Mitchell raised a merited hundred with a lofty straight drive off Shaheen Afridi, however with the stingy Naseem at the opposite end, New Zealand's run-scoring was turning out to be increasingly impecunious. Naseem would get the wickets he so richly deserved right at the end, dismissing Adam Milne and Rachin Ravindra in the last two deliveries of the innings to leave New Zealand well short of 300. It turned out that they were also too weak to compete with Pakistan's batsmen on this surface.
Conclusion
Pakistan defeated New Zealand by five wickets in the first one-day international in Rawalpindi, thanks to Fakhar Zaman's century and Naseem Shah's economical bowling. Pakistan achieved their 500th ODI victory in the process, becoming the third team to do so, and the second-quickest team after Australia. New Zealand's innings were built around Daryl Mitchell's century and Will Young's half-century, but Pakistan's precise death bowling restricted them to 288.  Pakistan's chase was anchored by Fakhar, Imam, and Babar, with Mohammad Rizwan providing a late cameo to ensure a comfortable victory. The win was a reflection of Pakistan's consistent performances in the format over the past four years, relying on their top-order batsmen for runs. Overall, it was a clinical performance by Pakistan, with their bowlers and batsmen complementing each other to outclass a competitive New Zealand side. Read the full article

NZ bowlers convey series-evening out win after Conway ton
Devon Conway (101) and Kane Williamson (85) put on 181 runs for the second wicket on a twist cordial wicket in Karachi before their bowlers concocted an aggregate work to assist New Zealand level the series with a 79-run win in Karachi on Wednesday (January 11).
The Conway-Williamson organization was urgent in New Zealand having the option to post 261, with the other players neglecting to find a sense of peace with the pitch as Mohammad Nawaz (4-38) assisted Pakistan with retaliating with the ball. Babar Azam top-scored for Pakistan in the pursuit yet his 79 fell off 114 conveyances as New Zealand held the scoring under wraps all through the innings, at last figuring out how to bowl the hosts out for 182.
Pakistan’s pursuit didn’t begin a brilliant note as the openers left in progressive overs. Fakhar Zaman was gotten behind off Tim Southee endeavoring a drive while Imam-ul-Haq top-edged a Lockie Ferguson conveyance to in reverse square leg. It was painfully slow for Pakistan in the first powerplay in spite of Babar scoring a couple of limits as they oversaw just 31 in the initial 10 overs.
Mohammad Rizwan had a godsend as Tom Latham couldn’t clutch the ball when the player had gloved a Michael Bracewell conveyance in the twelfth over. The spinners kept it tight, offering just a single four from overs 11-20, with Mitchell Santner striking off the last wad of the twentieth to have Rizwan (28 off 50) bowled to end a 55-run stand that fell off 99 balls. The spinners proceeded with the extremely tight grip on the Pakistan players, not yielding a solitary limit for 62 conveyances, the hosts could oversee 83 at the midway phase of their innings, with the necessary rate going past seven.
The earnestness was deficient in the Babar-Haris Sohail relationship too that endured 41 conveyances, with just 22 runs coming in the stand, and Sohail turned out to be excused by Glenn Phillips for a 21-ball 10. Agha Salman struck several fours in an energetic organization with Babar prior to being run out for 25. Babar arrived at his fifty before long, arriving off 86 conveyances on a track that had some assistance for the more slow bowlers. While Babar began finding the limits, wickets at the opposite end weren’t helping as Nawaz tumbled to Bracewell who got done with 1 for 29.
Usama Mir struck a four and a six preceding gloving a short conveyance from Southee to the ‘manager as Pakistan slipped to 158/7. The condition was 96 off the last 10 overs, with Babar being the solitary perceived player. However, New Zealand guaranteed that Pakistan didn’t come close, as Wasim was run out while Sodhi had Babar baffled and Haris Rauf got at long-off to polish off the game in the 43rd over.
Prior, Nawaz controlled’s areas of strength for Pakistan after the subsequent wicket sets of Devon Conway and Kane Williamson had placed on a major stand. The guests, who were continuing forward at 183/1 in the 30th over, could add 78 more as Nawaz got four wickets in three overs to get done with his third four-wicket pull in ODIs, eliminating the cream of the New Zealand batting request.
Naseem Shah struck right on time to excuse of Finn Allen in the opening over, inspiring him to drive uppishly to cover where Nawaz clutched a sharp catch. Williamson and Conway then kept the limits coming, driving, punching, pulling and flicking with certainty, as they scored 10 fours between them in the initial eight overs. Williamson had various respites during his organization with Conway, who began managing in limits after a couple of calm overs. He entered the 90s with three opposite cleared fours off Mir in the 29th over and raised a 89-ball hundred with a couple in something very similar over.
Nonetheless, Naseem’s renewed introduction brought about Conway being bowled, finishing the subsequent wicket stand worth 181. This began the slide as Nawaz got the wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Latham in a similar over followed by the excusal of Williamson, who was bowled by a conveyance that turned away forcefully. Phillips likewise tumbled to Nawaz while Mir and Rauf got a wicket each, excusing Bracewell and Ish Sodhi separately. Naseem stashed his third with the wicket of Southee however turned out to be struck for a six by Santner, who scored a convenient 36 preceding turning into the last to leave.

Asia Cup 2022: Rajapaksa's fifty, spells from Madushan and Hasaranga help Sri Lanka clinch sixth title, defeat Pakistan by 24 runs
Tumblr media
Sep 11, 2022 23:35 IST Dubai , September 11 (AF): A brilliant half-century from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and fiery spells from spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and pacer Pramod Madushan helped Sri Lanka lift its sixth Asia Cup title, defeating Pakistan by 24 runs in the final in Dubai on Sunday. Sri Lanka will be extremely ecstatic with their performances. They pulled off a remarkable comeback from a poor position in powerplay while batting, with help of Rajapaksa (71*) and Hasaranga (36) to reach 170/6 in 20 overs. While bowling, it was spells of Wanindu Hasaranga (3/27) and Pramod Madushan (4/34) that helped Lanka seal the victory by 24 runs, despite a threatening stand of 61-runs between Mohammad Rizwan (55) and Iftikhar Ahmed (32). Chasing 171, Pakistan got some free runs as pacer Dilshan Madushanka gave away nine extras due to wides and no balls. However, the pacer made a comeback, giving only three more runs in his over. Sri Lanka kept Pakistani willows silent for next two overs and struck gold with the wicket of star batter Babar Azam for 5. Pramod Madushan took his wicket after the batter was caught by Madhushanka at short fine leg, with the latter making up for his expensive first over. Pakistan was 1/22. Madushan dismissed left-hander Fakhar Zaman for a golden duck, taking two wickets in two balls. After a terrible first over, Sri Lanka were favourites again, having reduced Pakistan to 2/22. From then on, Rizwan and Ifitkhar Ahmed tried to steady the ship for Pakistan. Sri Lanka however continued bowling brilliant lines and lengths, keeping their opponents largely on backfoot. Men in Green could score only 15 in 15 balls after Madushan's double blow and at powerplay end in six overs, Pakistan was at 37/2, with Rizwan (16*) and Iftikhar (6*). The duo helped run come for Pakistan and 50-run mark was touched in 7.3 overs. At the end of 10 overs, Pakistan was at 68/3, with Rizwan (36*) and Ifitkhar (17*) at the crease. A 50-run stand between the duo was up in 44 balls. In the start of second half, Iftikhar seemed to turn things in his side's favour with a four and six. Wanindu Hasaranga's 12th over gave away 14 runs. Things seemed to swing in favour of Sri Lanka when Madushan bagged his third wicket of the match in 14th over. He ended the 71-run stand between Rizwan and Iftikhar after the latter was caught for 32 off 31 balls at backward square leg by KNA Bandara. Mohammad Nawaz was next on the crease. At the end of 15 overs, Pakistan was at 101/3, with Rizwan (47*) and Nawaz (6*). A solid 15th over by Dhananjya de Silva built pressure on Pakistan by giving away just four runs. Pakistan needed 70 runs in final five overs. Pressure piled up on Pakistan and evidence was Nawaz giving away his wicket for just four runs to Chamika Karurathne while attempting to pull, but was caught by Madushan at backward deep square. Pakistan was reduced to 102/4. Khushdil Shah was the next batter on the crease. Rizwan brought up his third half-century of the tournament with a pressure relieving six. However, Hasaranga's final over changed the game in favour of Sri Lanka once again, as he picked up wickets of Rizwan (55), Asif Ali (0) and Khusdil (2) in a span of five balls. Pakistan sunk to 112/7 after this over. Miseries did not seem to end for Pakistan as Theekshana dismissed Shadab Khan for just 8 runs after he was caught by Gunathilaka. Naseem Shah, Pakistan's hero in match against Afghanistan was also sent packing by Madushan, who got his fourth wicket of the match after Karunarathne caught him at long-on. Pakistan finished the match at 147 all out after Haris Rauf was bowled by Karunaratne for 13. Sri Lanka clinched its sixth Asia Cup 2022 title. Madushan (4/34) and Hasaranga (3/27) were the heroes for Sri Lanka with the ball. Theekshana and Karunaratne took one scalp each. An unbeaten half-century from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and solid knocks from Dhananjaya de Silva and Wanindu Hasaranga powered Sri Lanka to 170/6 in their 20 overs against Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2022 here in Dubai on Sunday. Pakistan will not be happy with how things turned out for them. Despite having SL reeling at 42/3 in the powerplay, they let Rajapaksa (71*), Hasaranga (36) and Silva (28) guide their side to a challenging total. Haris Rauf though had an impressive outing with 3/29. Fielding first, Pakistan was off to a great start as pacer Naseem Shah removed dangerous opener Kusal Mendis for a golden duck. A 142 kmph delivery came in, clipped the pads of the batter and dismantled his off stump. Sri Lanka was at 1/2. With this, Dhananjaya de Silva joined Pathum Nissanka. Silva delighted the excited Sri Lankan crowd with some well-placed drives. Nissanka also seemed to have joined his partner in a counterattack with a cover drive of his own. But pacer Haris Rauf put an end to this brief 21-run stand by dismissing Nissanka for just eight runs off 11 balls, who was trying to hit big over mid-on where Babar Azam took a good running catch. Danushka Gunathilaka joined Silva at the crease, looking to take Lankans past powerplay without any damage. Silva continued finding gaps at will. But on the other side, Pakistan continued to find the stumps of their opponents, with Rauf getting his second victim. He sent back Gunathilaka for just one off four balls to reduce SL to 36/3. A 151 kmph delivery caught the batter off guard and dismantled the furniture before he could even play his shot. Bhanuka Rajapaksa was next on crease and started his inning with a lucky boundary as a 153 kmph delivery got the thick outside edge of his bat and went straight to boundary line. Sri Lanka ended a harsh powerplay with 42 runs on the board at loss of three wickets, with Silva (24*) and Rajapaksa (6*) at the crease. The road after powerplay was not smooth for Lanka either as Silva was caught and bowled by Iftikhar Ahmed for 28 off 21 balls. Spin had joined the party. This brought skipper Shanaka to the crease, who could only score two off five balls after Shadab Khan's spin deceived him. He missed the ball big time while attempting to sweep and was clean bowled. With this, half of Sri Lankan team was back in the hut for 58. So far, Rajapaksa had held an end steady. Wanindu Hasaranga joined him next. At the end of 10 overs, SL was at 67/5, Rajapaksa (20*) and Hasaranga (6*) were at the crease. Hasaranga hit the first six of the innings in the 13th over bowled by Mohammad Hasnain, which brought SL 14 runs. The stand of Rajapaksa and Hasaranga helped SL reach 100-run mark in 13.1 overs. The scoreboard kept ticking for SL and this partnership completed 50 runs in 14.2 overs. It was important for both to finish things off for Lanka and guide them to a challenging score. Hasaranga was the aggressor in the stand, scoring valuable 36 off 21 balls after being caught behind by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan on a Rauf delivery. The pacer got his third wicket of the match, which ended a threatening 58-run stand. At the end of 15 overs, Sri Lanka was at 117/6, with Rajapaksa (37*) joined by Chamika Karunaratne (1*). Sri Lanka had made up for their powerplay hiccups with their game in middle overs, scoring 78 runs at loss of three wickets. Rajapaksa and Karunaratne then made a mockery of Naseem Shah, smashing him for two sixes and taking 16 runs from his over. Rajapaksa brought up his third T20 half-century in 18th over off 35 balls. He had helped Lanka stay in the game despite some early wickets and had to bat till the end for the betterment of his side. Hasnain's 19th over though helped Pakistan get a breather for first five balls, but Rajapaksa hit a six on the final ball, after he survived a catch attempt after two fielders collided. Sri Lanka ended their innings at 170/6 in 20 overs. They had made a brilliant recovery from scoring 42/3 in powerplay. They made 78 runs in middle overs from overs 7-16 and got 50 runs in the death overs. Rajapaksa scored an unbeaten in 71 off 45 balls with six fours and three sixes. Karuratne (14*) stood tall with him to form a 54 run stand off just 31 balls. Haris Rauf was the leading bowler for Pakistan, taking 3/29 in four overs. Shadab, Iftikhar and Naseem got one wicket each. (AF) Read the full article

Australia Knock Out Favourites Pakistan In Electrifying Thriller
T20 World Cup - 2nd Semi Final - Pakistan vs Australia
Australian middle order batter Matthew Wade turned defeat into victory for his team as Pakistan, the hottest favourites to win the T20 World Cup, were knocked out in the semi finals in Dubai on Thursday night in what became a most electrifying contest.
Chasing 177 to win Australia were almost dead and buried at 115 for 5 with just five overs left. But Wade turned the match on its head hitting three successive sixes against the most feared Pakistan paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi in the 19th over after they needed 22 runs in the last two overs.
Two of the sixes came off towering scoop shots behind the keeper that flew into the spectator stands and the other a cracking blast over the head of mid-wicket Hasan Ali who dropped Wade in the third ball of the over bowled by Afridi with 20 more runs needed.
Wade finished the match with an unbeaten 41 in just 17 balls with 22 of them coming in just the last four deliveries that he faced.
Wade's partner Marcus Stoinis who opened his account with a six could not believe his eyes at what happened at a stage when Australia may have thought it was he who was expected to score the winning runs if it were the case as he remained unbeaten on 40 from 31 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Before the two came together, Australia had blown the match apart as skipper and opener Aaron Finch was out for a first-ball duck, trapped leg-before to Afridi followed by Steven Smith (5) and Mitchell Marsh (28) hitting the ball up in the air in desperation that resulted in catches that brought about their dismissals.
Things got worse for Australia as David Warner did not review a caught-behind ruling against spinner Shadab Khan one run short of his 50 as television replays showed the ball missing the edge of his bat.
Warner was soon followed by Glenn Maxwell hitting a ball from Shadab in a switch hit attempt to give square leg fielder Haris Rauf a catch with his score on 7 that put Australia in dire straits at 96 for 5 in the 13th over, still needing 81 runs in 7.4 overs.
Earlier Pakistan put into bat after they lost the toss, scored 54 runs in the last four overs as Fakhar Zaman scored an unbeaten 55 in 32 balls with three fours and four sixes in reaching 176 for 4 in the 20 overs with opener Mohammad Rizwan making a top score of 67.
Scores: Pakistan 176 for 4 in 20 overs (Mohammad Rizwan 67, Babar Azam 39, Fakhar Zaman 55 not out, Mitchell Starc 2 for 38)
Australia 177 for 5 in 19 overs (David Warner 49, Mitchell Marsh 28, Marcus Stoinis 40 not out, Matthew Wade 41 not out, Shadab Khan 4 for 26)

Nawaz was promoted up the order to tackle leg-spinners, reveals Pakistan skipper Babar Azam
Tumblr media
Sep 05, 2022 00:21 IST Dubai , September 5 (Always First): Following his side's thrilling five-wicket win over India in Super Four clash at ongoing Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said that the partnership between Mohammed Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz was the turning point of the match and the latter was promoted to tackle leg-spinners. A superb 50 by Mohammed Rizwan and cameo by Mohammad Nawaz powered Pakistan to a five-wicket win in a last-ball thriller Super Four clash against Pakistan at the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday. "Our effort is to keep it simple. Ups and downs will keep happening. They got the edge the way they utilised the powerplay. But our bowlers made a comeback. Rizwan and Nawaz partnership was the turning point. I had a hunch Nawaz would be key against legspinners (about his promotion)," said Azam in post-match presentation. A superb fifty by Mohammed Rizwan and cameo by Mohammad Nawaz powered Pakistan to a five-wicket win in a last-ball thriller Super Four clash against Pakistan at the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday. It was an exciting day of cricketing action for the fans as they got their money's worth. Rizwan's brilliant 71 off 51 balls proved to be the difference between both sides. Chasing 182, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan tried to give their side a solid start, mixed with some occasional big hits and consistent strike rotation. However, in the fourth over, spinner Ravi Bishnoi struck for India, sending back Babar Azam for 14 off 10 balls while the batter was trying to hit it over the midwicket region. At this point, Pakistan was 22/1. Babar's horrific run in the tournament continued as he registered his third below-20 score of the tournament. Southpaw Fakhar Zaman was up next on the crease. Zaman kept taking his time to settle while Rizwan continued to look good from the other end. They kept the scoreboard ticking for Pakistan and took them through the powerplay without any further damage. At six overs, Pakistan was at 44/1, with Rizwan (24*) and Zaman (6*) at the crease. The team crossed fifty-run mark in 6.4 overs. Another spinner struck for the Men in Blue in the ninth over as Yuzvendra Chahal sent back Fakhar Zaman for 15 off 18 balls after he was caught by Virat Kohli at long-on while attempting to hit it big. Pakistan was now at 63/2 with this 41-run stand coming to an end. All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was next up on crease. He started his inning really well by smashing a four and a six in his first five balls. At the end of ten overs, Pakistan was at 76/2, with Nawaz (11*) and Rizwan (35*) at the crease. The duo displayed some attacking intent while batting, Nawaz in particular. Rizwan also kept things steady from the other end. Rizwan brought up his half-century in 37 balls with four boundaries and two sixes and also helped his side touch 100-run mark in 12.2 overs. The duo brought up their fifty-run stand in just 29 balls, keeping Pakistan in contention. In the final six overs, Pakistan needed 63 runs Two boundaries in the first two balls of the next over gave Pakistan an edge. This over bowled by Chahal gave away 16 runs and at the end of it, Pakistan needed 47 runs off 30 balls. It was Bhuvneshwar Kumar that gave Team India a much-needed breakthrough, sending off Nawaz back for 42 off 20 balls and breaking the 73-run stand between the duo. It was Deepak Hooda who took a catch at long-off. Khushdil Shah was next up on the crease. With final four overs to go Pakistan needed 43 runs. Rizwan kept the scoreboard ticking in the next over. Hardik Pandya was under pressure but delivered big wicket of Rizwan on the fifth ball of his over, sending him back for 71 off 51 balls after he was caught by Suryakumar Yadav. Pakistan had lost their 4th wicket at 147 runs and Pandya had revived India's chances in the game after catching the big fish. In the final three overs, Pakistan needed 34 runs. Asif Ali had joined Khushdil on the crease. Ravi Bishnoi came to deliver the next over. Asif Ali was dropped by Arshdeep Singh. Bishnoi delivered some wides in his over as well. In the final two overs, Pakistan needed 25 runs. Bhuvneshwar came to deliver the 19th over. Asif Ali hit a six on his second delivery, bringing down the equation to 18 runs in 10 balls. Kumar delivered two wides as well. Khushdil hit a four to bring down the equation to 12 off 8 balls. With a four on the final ball, Pakistan needed seven in the final over. Arshdeep came to deliver the final over. He took the wicket of Asif Ali to keep Team India's hopes alive, with two runs needed in two deliveries. Ali was out for 16 off seven balls. Iftikhar Ahmed was the next batter. His side won the match with one ball to go by five wickets. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers with 1/26 for India. Bhuvneshwar, Arshdeep, Pandya and Chahal took a wicket each. Earlier, Virat Kohli's blistering 60 and 37-run partnership stand with Deepak Hooda guided India to post 181/7 against arch-rival Pakistan in the second match of the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Virat Kohli was in his best form as he smashed 60 runs in 44 deliveries, while Rohit Sharma scored 28 runs setting a solid foundation for the Indian team. For Pakistan Shadab Khan bagged two wickets while Mohammad Nawaz, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah scalped one wicket each. Put to bat first, India got off to a flying start as their openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma slammed Pakistani bowlers all around the ground while gathering 34 runs in three overs without losing a wicket. In the fourth over of the innings, Rohit hammered Haris Rauf for 12 runs, while smashing one six and four. In the 6th over Haris Rauf delivered a stunning delivery dismissing India captain Rohit for 28 runs in 16 balls. After six powerplay overs, India's score read 62/1. In the 7th over Shadab Khan gave his team a big breakthrough as he dismissed Rahul for 28 runs in 20 balls. Suryakumar Yadav then came to bat on the crease. Suryakumar got off the mark with a superb four on the first ball he faced. He played a beautiful cut short towards the backward point region for a four. Suryakumar could not do much and his stint on the crease was cut short as he was dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz after scoring 13 runs in 10 deliveries. Left-handed batter Rishabh Pant then came to the crease. After 10 over of the innings, India's score read 93/3. In the 11th over Mohammad Hasnain bowled a short ball to the former India captain and he hit it for a four towards backward square leg. Kohli slammed a shot down the track on the very first ball of the 12th over and smashed Naseem Shah for a four towards extra cover. The duo of Kohli and Pant hammered Shah for 13 runs. Pant could stand longer as he attempted a reverse-sweep on the ball of Shadab Khan and hit the ball straight into the hands of backward point fielder Asif Ali. He departed on 14 runs off 12 balls. Pakistan's Hasnain gave India a major blow as he dismissed Hardik Pandya for a 2-ball duck. Deepak Hooda then came to bat and opened his tally with a brilliant four on Hasnain's delivery. In the 18th over Virat Kohli smashed a huge six and brought up his half-centuries in 36 balls. It was his back-to-back second fifty in this ongoing Asia Cup.
