My part of the Fairy Tail 11th Anniversary Event here on tumblr! I picked chapter 337 “The Golden Plains“ because the entire ‘future portion‘ of the grand magic games arc fucking slays me and I like to give myself emotions.

My top 25 NaLu moments! (Part 3)

FINALLY! I’m sorry I dragged this for so long, but it’s finally here. The final part of my 25 NaLu moments, which means, the final top 5. Part 1 of the list can be found here, and part 2 can be found here. Now let us finally finish this. Beware of spoilers for the current arc, if you’re not updated on the manga, you probably shouldn’t read this.

5. “I heard his voice. I know he’s here” (ch. 50).

My favorite NaLu moment from the entire Phantom Lord arc; talk about trusting someone. I mean, Lucy had two choices in that moment. Either she jumped and would fall to her death, or she’d go with Phantom Lord and return to a lonely life. Lucy, surprinsingly, chooses to jump from the tower/castle (I don’t recall what it was), and I was like, “Natsu’s totally gonna catch her”. But what I didn’t know was that Lucy knew that too. She jumped, being sure that she heard Natsu’s voice, and that he’d be able to catch her. So she cries out his name, trusting that he’ll get to her in time. And back then, their relationship was still progressing, and she already trusted him with her life this much. And then, right after she calls out to him, Natsu shows up at last second and grabs her and they both fall to the ground with Lucy’s boobs on his face. It’s so cute when she says “I knew you’d be here”. That was an amazing moment, one that’ll surely always be on my mind, and I’m sure a lot of people have this moment as one of their favorites as well.

4. “Lucy would still be Lucy” (ch. 477).

There are exactly two reasons why I love this moment so much. First reason, Natsu finally woke up after spending a few chapters unconscious, and worrying eyerbody. And how did Mashima let us know he woke up? By having Natsu protect Lucy, of course. With a really badass loving line of how even if all there was left of Lucy was her head, it would still be Lucy, “so how about I turn your sorry ass into a pile of ashes instead?” *squeals*. Second reason, Natsu couldn’t save Lucy when Future Rogue tried to kill her, which resulted in Future Lucy dying to protect Lucy. Back then, he couldn’t stop the shadowy sword. And here, in a really similar moment, he’s able to get to her in time and he saves her life, which was one of the reasons why he left to train to become stronger. And finally he is able to protect her like he’d wanted to that time, and this time, nobody died, and the woman he cares for is right behind him, alive and smiling.

3. “It’s always more fun when we’re together” (ch. 227).

*give a minute k* Lucy Heartfilia is a precious human being who’s had one of the most beautiful character developments EVER, in history of anime/manga. And this moment right here, was one of the best she’s ever had. She was about to die, but she stood brave and with a smile on her face, looking at the people she loved the most (Natsu and Happy), saying she refused to run away because she wanted to stay with them. To me, this was actually a nice callback to chapter 5, when Team Natsu was on their first mission, and Natsu says it’s more fun if everyone eats together. And 200+ chapters later, we have Lucy smiling beautifully at Natsu like this, saying “it’s always more fun when we’re together”. And Natsu’s looking at her with so much distress, because he’s about to watch her get brutally killed, and at the same time it’s like he’s amazed, because the loud-mouthed blonde he used to find annoying who always wanted to run away when things got too dangerous, would rather stay with him and die than to leave him behind. I think something in Natsu’s feelings for Lucy definitely changed after this; it’s no wonder, since it was after the fight with Kaien that Natsu started acting more friendly to Lucy. But seriously, look at the panel, Lucy’s shaking, she’s obviously afraid, but she’s smiling because being with her friends is what matters the most to her. Such a great NaLu moment, no matter how you see their relationship.

2. “Come with me!” (ch. 1 & 419).

It wouldn’t be a NaLu list of moments if either of these two moments weren’t included here. And the reason I chose the two instead of just one, is because I feel like they both needed to be here, in order to make this more emotional. I mean, the first moment is the one that started everything. It’s Natsu bringing in some girl he knows barely anything about, all he knows is that she helped him, so he wants to help her as well. Lucy doesn’t know this guy either, all she knows is that he saved her life and he’s from Fairy Tail, the guild she most wants to join. But when he pulls her along, and asks her to come with him, I feel like they formed a real connection at that moment. Just look at the way they’re both smiling; so innocently, not knowing what’s in store for them, not knowing that they’ll become each other’s precious person. They’re starting an adventure right there, and unknowingly, changing each other’s lives forever. On the second moment, we have Natsu and Lucy again, in the same situation, only this time they’re Natsu and Lucy; they know each other, they love each other, and they’d do anything for each other. And just like in the day they met, Natsu’s going to change her world again, Lucy knows it. It’s everything she’s been waiting for since he left and the guild disbanded. She’s looking at that smile, the beautiful smile on his face that started everything, and she can’t help but tear up. I thought it was a nice thing that Mashima added a blush to Natsu’s cheeks in the most recent moment, because it shows just what I said; the first time, she’s just a girl and he’s just a boy and they have yet to know each other; the second time, they’re Natsu and Lucy and they love each other. And they’re going to change everything, again. 

1. “Thank you” (ch. 337).

After everything I said in the last moment, you might wonder how could that one not be my number one favorite. And it is almost a tie, but there’s something about this moment right here, with Lucy embracing Natsu as the GMG arc comes to an end, after everything that happened, and it just kind of tells me that they’re in love. All she says is “thank you”, yet that kind of means everything, you know? Like, “thank you for everything you did”, “thank you for protecting the future”, “thank you for being my friend”, “thank you for always being here”, or even “I won’t ever leave your side, I promise”. Because Lucy knows Natsu, she knows the death of her future self hurt him, and she wants to give him that reassurance that she’s still by his side, she’s still alive. That’s what this scene means to me. That’s the message Mashima sent to me. And that’s NaLu for me, you know? They’re each other’s source of comfort, family, and home. They might never get together romantically (even so make them get together mashima), but this is something we can always believe about their relationship, something that will never change. And the best of this, is that in this moment right there, is just the two of them. There’s no one else, it’s just Natsu and Lucy. Both battered, both hurt, both with a lot on their mind, but they have each other and they’re both alive, so they’re gonna be alright.

Well that was sort of... anti-climatic.

I mean, what. I was expecting at least one more chapter with fighting and stuff.

But on another note, NALU FEEEEELS.

Spoilers.

So we see the remains of the Eclipse Gate when Natsu made Rogue and Mother Grea fall into it. So now that the gates are destroyed, Rogue has no way to return to the present from the future.

Wibbly-wobbly timey-whimey. I told you guys.

Lo and behold, the dragons are glowing and returning to their own time.

Oh, bye-bye Atlas Flame. We only knew you for a short time but you were cool! I wonder if he tells Igneel about Natsu.

OH MY GOD GUYS. I CAME UP WITH A THEORY.

Maybe that's how Igneel raised Natsu. Atlas Flame told him about Natsu! And then he found Natsu and taught him Dragon Slayer magic! Duuuuuuude.

That could also be how Zeref knew about Natsu. One of the dragons that went to the future could have told him about Natsu and his strength.

I see what you did there, Mashima.

And now Zilconis (?) the jade dragon is disappearing. And Hisui shows up to apologize. And she tells him her name is the same as his color. Jade. So he ponders about being called the Jade Dragon. (And that's how he got tricked in order to disappear.)

And something tells me that how's he switched to the human side.

WIBBLY WOBBLY TIMEY-WHIMEY.

So all the dragons disappear and everyone rejoices except for the dragon slayers. They all look kind of disgruntled. And as Mavis looks over the remains of the town, she notes that none of the dragon slayers actually defeated a dragon.

That does not bode well actually. Acnologia is still wandering around and if the dragon slayers can't beat a normal dragon, what hope do they have to beat Acnologia?

But everyone's just like 'na son' let's celebrate. AND OH MY GOD JERZA MOMENT YESSSSS.

Sting's adorable too.

And we flash over to F!Rogue who's slowly disappearing. He ominously tells Natsu that the shadows are always trying to consume and that when he lost Frosch, then he became evil.

So one year from now, he has to tell Rogue to protect Frosch or else Frosch will die. (AND FROSCH IS A GIRL, I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS.)

And F!Lucy is also disappearing and she arrives at an empty field. Either this is her heaven or the future where she went back to.

But then Natsu arrives and tells her that everyone in Fairy Tail is waiting for her and that they'll continue their adventure.

Oh, my OTP. FEEEELS. SO MANY FEEELS. NATSU AND LUCY WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER.

And then we're back in the present where Lucy begins to cry. Then she walks to Natsu and hugs him. Y'know, one of those hugs where the back is the your front.

And OH MY GOD MORE FEEELS. I THINK THAT WAS AN ADMISSION OF LOVE ON LUCY'S PART. I FEEL THE CANONNESS OF THEM. I FEEL IT.

So that concludes chapter 337. AND HOLY SHIT WE GET THREE CHAPTER NEXT WEEK.

I keep hearing people talk about the "Great Dance Tournament" as being a ball-like thing with tuxes and fancy dresses. But am I the only one expecting techno, dubstep, mosh pits, crazy dancing, and sweaty bodies?

That sounds logical to me. I can't see Fairy Tail doing a formal thing. And if it was a formal thing, you bet your ass that they'll destroy it.

As for the "Starfrost" one, I will guess that it's with Gray or Lyon. I hope it's not a Gruvia thing. I really don't want it to be them. I really, really don't. Lyvia, maybe. But not Gruvia (never, ever Gruvia.)

I don't know what "Gift" will be though. I think it'll be up in the air.

I just hope for some romance from Nalu, Jerza, or Gale. Pleeease!

So I wonder what the next arc will entail. I hope it's with a dark guild or something. I wanna see what Tartaros is all about. Something cool that will maybe involve Sabertooth again. I wanna see how they're going to grow after the tournament. I know we'll see at least Rogue again because of Frosch.

Finally, are we going to mourn Ultear at all? I mean, Jellal and Meredy are going to be devastated when they find out, she died (I'm not even sure she's dead.) I hope we get closure concerning her.
