Ivan Evile "Ritual Magic"
"Nobody knows what exactly are the otherworldly savage creatures usually called 'demons'. What is known is that they are often summoned by evil mages, and this chapter aims to detail the process used in that, so that our protectors have all the information needed to combat this threat. Firstly, summoning a demon requires a circle drawn on the ground or another surface capable of supporting the demon. The contents drawn on the inside of it depend on the demon being summoned, but usually involve an inversed pentagram somewhere. Secondly, summoning a demon requires a sacrifice of lifeforce. It's what sustains the demon in this dimension. The bigger the sacrifice, the more powerful the demon that can be summoned. It is known that in history mages used piles of corpses to summon gargantuan demons to attack cities. The smallest sacrifice may be a few drops of blood, even from the summoner himself. This blood actually spends the owner's lifeforce when the spell is cast though, so most people feel weakened after that. On the subject of fighting them: the easiest way is to prevent them from being summoned. Dusting out part of the circle is an effective method, as is removing the people meant to be sacrifices from the vicinity (do keep in mind that the summoner can still use his own blood). Once the inevitable happens and the demon is summoned, keep in mind that they boast a remarkable resistance to fire, but are equally weak against ice. Using ice-elemental techniques is the best way to get rid of them quickly and effectively. If you are using physical weaponry, know that the more powerful demons recoil with a burst of fire when their blood is drawn. Demons are not known to use magic, but they are powerful melee combatants and some of them can fly."

Unknown "Magical Equipment"
"Wands and staves are affixed with an orb or gem which functions as a focus. By focusing the spell through it, it gets amplified. Attempts were made to add focii to other weapons, like swords or bows, but it was found that common metals in their proximity nullify them. Also, it's easier to focus through them if the weapon's shape is straight.
Focii can also be worn by themselves, usually being called 'orbs' in this state. They still amplify magic, but you can't cast through them; you are holding the focus in your hand, so it's dangerous, and they get quite hot when magic is channeled through them.
It is known that mages only have a limited mental capacity for spells (thought rumors are circulating that there's some cake that can increase it). Spellbooks are tomes that contain all the required information and incantations to allow the spell from them to be cast without knowing it. Books may only hold a single spell, as spells don't like eachother and you may find your book blown to pieces one day.
It is known that in ancient times, mages used a variety of mirrors to amplify their magic. How did they work has been lost to time."

Andrew Wodey "Pocket Guide to the Trees of Haaki"
"Under dollywood (also called the tree of Chrysomallos), it was said, performances were made. The best musicians found their inspirations there; the best of artists, and of novelists. Many towns plant a dollywood tree in a central position for this reason.
Haakiwood is the sacred tree of all druids. All mother trees in recorded history were the exceedingly rare Haakiwood, and druids believe that they are in fact orifices through which Haaki himself speaks to mortalkind. To destroy a Haakiwood is a grave sin for the druids.
Sexywood: this tree can actually move its branches and will try to grope passersby. You have been warned.
If you encounter a Bacchus tree in the wild, it is customary to imbibe an alcoholic drink in its presence, or any drink in the lack of the earlier. Parties are often held around these trees.
Khionewood is a rare kind of tree that only grows in frozen regions of Haaki. Ambitious woodcutters are advised to be on the lookout for local fauna.
Vulcanwood is a strange kind of tree that thrives in areas of excess volcanic activity. Its bark looks like it's burned, and it rarely grows any leaves. Scientists have yet to discover its method of feeding.
And finally, tales tell of a tree called 'Mintywood' that supposedly releases a fragrance that can be smelled from miles away. Yours truly has yet to encounter one of these, if they aren't a mere myth."
