Hi! i have a therapy session coming along soon and i am going to confront my therapist regarding some things she has said...one of them being mentioning's of infidelity, she made comments which i feel like minimised cheating by saying 'sometimes good people do bad things..' and 'most people cheat bc they are insecure' etc
what are your thoughts on this and how would you go about confronting someone (i am not the best at it)
thank you x
This is way late, but I hope you managed to speak your piece and have managed to find a therapist who fits you better! 💛
Answering the last part of your message first: I cannot relate to disliking confrontation, but I generally think it’s best to remember that confrontation comes from care! Someone you care about being willing to bring something to you that made them sad/hurt/uncomfortable means they 1) care enough about you to bring it forward, 2) trust enough in your reaction that they will put themselves into a vulnerable space, and 3) actually value you what you say, including your thoughts and opinions. Confrontation gives clarity and helps build trust. And you can confront something without being cruel or combative. Confrontation can be as simple as saying, “Okay girl, what’s going on? Last Friday you were not acting like yourself.”
Now, onto the first part of your message. Infidelity is a sore spot for a lot of people, and I have very nebulous thoughts on it as a whole. I generally forgive women who cheat, I don’t think I’ve ever forgiven a man who has cheated. But in all honesty for me (just me!), there are far worse things that can happen in a relationship.
Especially because 95% of the time, infidelity is very cut and dry. When it happens, you know exactly what your partner thinks of you and you know exactly how much they value you and the relationship. It’s very rare in relationships to have that level of clarity on how the other person views you.
I don’t particularly care about it. If it ever happens, I’m going to pack their stuff and leave it on the front porch. Prenups have infidelity clauses for this exact reason. I’d be more offended if my partner cheated and then asked me to work through it, like, am I a doormat to you? Please be serious. And the girlies who take their cheating partners back and then spend the rest of their days giving themselves high blood pressure due to their elevated cortisol levels stress me out. Just *leave*! Risking a stroke for what reason?
This might be controversial to say, but I don’t think cheating is as strong of a dealbreaker to people as they think it is. If it were, we wouldn’t have so many advice columns, posts, subreddits, and therapists who all spend their time helping couples “move past” infidelity. People would just go. And truly, by staying, people are punishing themselves more than they’re punishing the person who cheated. That man got to have a no strings fling, come back and grovel for a bit, and still keep his family. That’s crazy.
I love her, but every five business days Gabrielle Union tells us how she’s never forgiven her husband or the outside child he had, but she’s still there. Who do you think is actually suffering more in this scenario?
Meanwhile Mackenzie Scott read the most embarrassing series of adulterous sexts in history and immediately retained her lawyer and got a tidy 64 billion dollars. Imagine if Jeff got to say “Sorry, I guess?” and stay with her. Imagine that.

Hahahaha, oh man, friends. Uh. So. I've been on vacation for what feels like my entire life at this point (11 days). And because I am a bit compulsive, I put everything together to post the conclusion of ADA while I was travelling. I also uninstalled Tumblr for my trip because I know myself (see prior note re: compulsive).
Anyway, listen, I didn't bring my computer on this trip, but I did have a really compelling idea for a fic in the Check Please universe. Which. Okay. So. I'm still noodling on a lot of Carry On ideas, including a variety of Dangerverse spin offs, but this fic idea is the one I wrote some of on my phone during a 9-hour plane ride yesterday, so that's what you're getting.
Speaking of which, though: if you read this and haven't read OMGCP do yourself the favor of going to read it right now. It's a webcomic! It's free and easily chunkable! It's adorable and compelling and gay.
This is a Holsom fic, and it's a time loop...with a twist. 🤷 I have written over 5k words on this literally 100% on my phone and I deeply fear for how much editing will be required.
The click and whir of The Co-captain D-men Reveille spinning its current mix CD into action wakes Justin. It's still dark outside, and when he wakes up before the song starts he can sometimes stop it before it makes a sound. Holster always gives him an especially enthusiastic high-five-hug-back-slap on those days, and it's worth the risk of tripping just for that infectious joy. But the guitar riff is already going by the time he hits the off button, and Holster is already sitting up, legs over the side of the bed.
"Friday?" he asks.
"Friday," Justin says back over his shoulder.
Thanks for tagging me @artsyunderstudy @shrekgogurt @martsonmars @valeffelees @j-nipper-95 ! I'm going to refrain from tagging except for known OMGCP stans @petedavidsonscock and @forabeatofadrum , but uh if you're an OMGCP enjoyer, please alert me and I shall further bifurcate my already thrice-split tags list. 😂🤷😁

Heat wave set to scorch the Southwest, with temperatures possibly reaching up to 120 degrees
A potentially record-breaking heat wave is anticipated to push temperatures across the western U.S. into the triple digits as it intensifies this week, prompting warnings and the establishment of cooling shelters throughout the region.
youtube
From southwestern Oregon and California to parts of Arizona and western Nevada, millions of people will be under excessive heat warnings from Tuesday through Friday.
The highest temperatures are expected in Furnace Creek, Death Valley National Park, where readings could reach 120 degrees. In southern California’s Palm Springs and Coachella Valley, afternoon highs might hit 118 degrees.
Federal forecasters predict that major cities, including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Portland, Oregon, will exceed 100 degrees. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has announced that emergency personnel are preparing for the heat wave, and cooling centers are being set up across the city.
"The homeless, elderly, children, and individuals with health conditions are at the greatest risk for heat-related illnesses," the Los Angeles weather service office posted on X. "Daytime temperatures ranging from 95 to 105 degrees will become common away from the coast."
Weather Forecast For 75006-Carrollton-TX:
https://www.behance.net/gallery/201656829/Weather-Forecast-For-75006-Carrollton-TX
A heat wave in the Southwest is typical for this time of year. Heather Zehr, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, noted that searing heat is not unusual for Southern California, western Nevada, and southern Arizona in September.
"September is generally quite hot in this region due to its southwestern location and dry climate. Peak average temperatures often occur at the end of August and the beginning of September," she explained.
Zehr pointed out that this heat wave will be significantly milder compared to the record-breaking heat wave in July that swept across the Southwest. That earlier heat wave saw temperatures in Phoenix reach 118 degrees, afternoon highs in Las Vegas hit 120 degrees, and peak temperatures in the Palm Springs desert area soar to 124 degrees. This week, forecasts suggest that each of these areas will experience temperatures several degrees lower than those seen in July.
The situation is different in the Northwest.
Zehr explained that southwestern Oregon usually starts to cool down at the onset of fall as Arctic air intrusions move into the region. However, due to the heat wave, daily temperature records across the Willamette Valley, including cities like Portland and Medford, could be threatened, with forecasts predicting temperatures could climb to 105 degrees.
"This is somewhat unusual for them," Zehr said, referring to the heat wave affecting southern Oregon.
How to Stay Safe During a Heat Wave
To protect yourself during a prolonged heat wave, experts recommend avoiding direct sunlight, drinking plenty of water, and wearing sunscreen or sun-protective clothing if you need to go outside.

Seemal Desai, president of the American Academy of Dermatology, advised staying indoors between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when sunlight is most intense. It's important to drink water rather than relying solely on caffeinated beverages or sports drinks, which may contain additional chemicals and additives.
Kelly Olino, assistant professor of surgical oncology at Yale School of Medicine, emphasized the importance of recognizing serious signs of heatstroke or heat-related illness, such as nausea, vomiting, and lightheadedness.
The National Weather Service also issued advisories reminding people to check their vehicles for children and pets before leaving them unattended, as car interiors can quickly reach deadly temperatures.
How Extreme Heat Can Affect Your Health
While warm weather can enhance mental health by encouraging outdoor activities and increasing vitamin D levels, extreme heat can have detrimental effects.
"Heat has been linked to irritability, agitation, anxiety, and cognitive impairment," Susan Albers-Bowling, a clinical psychologist at the Cleveland Clinic, told USA TODAY in June. "Research also indicates that during heat waves, there is a noticeable rise in suicide rates, domestic violence, substance abuse, and crime."

Albers-Bowling added that high temperatures can disrupt sleep and diminish the effectiveness of certain medications. Additionally, extreme heat can lead to hormonal changes, such as elevated cortisol levels (the stress hormone), and can impair alertness and cognitive function.

2 - 5 June 1998 - first week on the job at the Balanstraße campus
Friday 5 June 1998
Today I wanted to make the 20 year ago story a little short.  Or at least shorter than I potentially could.  Maybe to give a brief overview of what I did from 2nd June to 14 August 1998 at "Widgetmeister International", why was I there, how did I get the job, what did I do, and so on.
Please note, not all companies in Germany are set up like Widgetmeister International.  My descriptions are only from the times that I remember.
My Summer 1998 position was a Werkstudenttätigkeit, which is slightly different from a Praktikum.  Both are student-level jobs meant to be temporary.  There is also the Doktorand, where a doctoral candidate gains practical experience in the field, particularly STEM.  A Praktikum is a position that is brokered through a work agency, where the Werkstudenttätigkeit is arranged almost 95% by the candidate him or herself.  Basically you have to fill out all the paperwork yourself, where the agency takes care of it for you as a Praktikant.  What is the pay difference?  More than twice for the Werkstudent than the Praktikant, and both get the 300 Mark, in today's money about US $ 200, tax-free living allowance supplement.  Taxes and other legal deductions were calculated by the HR department, and payday was always the last Friday of the month.  You would get either a physical "Verrechnungsscheck" or a bank transfer.  The latter was preferred.
How did I get the position?  I knew of some people in a similar work division from my previous Praktikum from Summer 1997, and they needed someone to assist in writing a home-grown file transfer program to detect file size, file format and multiple file handling.  We had a good working relationship from that time, so they chose me for the seasonal position.  Back in the late 1990s, it was a time of thick brick sized cellphones that could barely even make texts aside from phone calls, and Microsoft Sharepoint was not widely used on the unix system.  So it was a matter of integrating the file transfer application into HTML.  Not a simple matter then, as it is now, by comparison.
What was my day like?  In general I would take my bus-train-bus commute from Englschalking to Giesing.  Most everyone would be in the office about 8:30 AM, would have coffee, follow up on previous days work and have meetings as appropriate.  I did not have a "dedicated" workspace, rather I would temporarily sit in an unoccupied desk, of whomever was on vacation at the time.  Since in Germany people took 4 to 5 weeks vacation, there would be at least someone absent, and the space was mine for a while.  I did some coding in Perl as it was portable on unix and Windows.  Lunch would be around 11:45 AM up to 12:35 PM, and everyone would go to the canteen.  Food was fairly cheap as it was offered on an "institutional" bulk basis.  Sometimes there would be interesting items, like the potato ball, Currywurst, dumpling soup, side salads and self-serve by the glass soft drinks.  We would eat together for half an hour and go back.  In the office, the coffee policy was everyone pitches in with paying since the company did not pay for coffee.  Either that or donate unopened bags of coffee, creamer and sugar/sweetner once in a while.  And every cup consumed, had to be tallied!!!
Sometimes during the week, there would be staff meetings.  These were, despite being in Germany, conducted in English, as there were staff members whose German was not quite B1-standard.  Most of them were not relevant to me so I was allowed to work on the upload application.
As for the workday, it was generally 7.7 hours including 0.7 hours for lunch.  Each day taken off whether by vacation or overtime, would be deducted by 7 hours.  Sometimes people had to go offsite on official business, so there was a category for that and that would not count against one's vacation time.  In my case, I was allowed two days paid vacation per month I worked - too bad I cannot get that in the USA!
At the end of the day, I would log off my workstation, and think about if I wanted to go to Neuperlach Zentrum with the U-Bahn, or go northwest via Am Hart or Kieferngarten to the big box stores, for grocery shopping.  Or hang out near the Marienplatz or Münchner Freiheit?  Depended on my mood at the time.  Usually I would be home around 7 or 8 PM.  I would make a light supper for myself, mainly sandwiches and a half liter can of cheap no-name store-brand beer.  Sometimes I would have the proper Oktoberfest brands but not every day.
Did I mention the office had *no* air conditioning?  The windows could be opened and most people would use fans.  Seldom did the temperature rise above 90 degrees.
Well, that pretty much summarizes what I was doing during the weekdays of Summer 1998 in Germany.  Tomorrow and up to Friday, would be my "birthday weekend" where I saw two different sides of Bavaria.
Gute Nacht!!!

I'm going to be obnoxious and presumptuous and tell everyone how to live their lives because I feel like the Cyberpunk 2077 fandom* has an endemic problem with this self-imposed expectation to post new ~*content*~ on a regular basis that is just not sustainable for like 95% of us. And as someone who has also, unfortunately, grappled with that anxiety even though I know it's silly, I feel compelled to tell everyone (myself included) to stop doing that to themselves and slow the fuck down.
(*Probably other fandoms, too--I have many, many Thoughts™ on how ~*content creator*~ culture has had detrimental effects on fandom on the whole, but that's a broader topic for another time.)
Participating in fandom is a hobby, not a grind. No one is going to be upset with you for letting your queue run out or missing a themed day. Nobody expects anyone to have multiple original posts on a daily basis. Your friends aren't going to forget you if you need to take a break. There is absolutely no reason to feel guilty or stressed because a real-life obligation has to take priority over a hobby.
Recognize the ebb and flow of your creativity so you don't burn yourself out. Give yourself the time and space to work on long projects and learn new skills, even if that can't come with regular updates. Let yourself be in the moment while you create. Savor your art--Stop asking yourself "What do I post next?" immediately after you finish a project. Take pride and joy in the work you've already made without wondering how you can make your next post even better.
Understand your limitations and accept that others might not have the same limitations you have. Someone who is single and unemployed is going to have more time to dedicate to learning virtual photography than someone with a family and a full-time job. Someone with chronic fatigue is going to have a harder time churning out fic than someone without that condition. Don't compare your output to someone else's. We all have different creative processes, different backgrounds and skills, and different demands on our time and energy.
What works for me to break out of this mindset might not work for everyone, but these are the 3 main things I find helpful to keep me from succumbing to the darkness:
Intentionally break a streak Have you been posting every single Thirsty Thursday for the past 6 months but are having a hard time keeping up currently and feeling stressed about breaking the streak? BREAK IT. Skip one. Even if you have a post, schedule it for the following week. It'll feel wrong at first, but on Friday you'll realize it didn't matter, your friends are still here, and you will no longer be beholden to this inconsequential posting requirement that exists only in your head.
Revisit old posts/drafts/WIPs/outtakes Go through your old stuff! Let yourself enjoy what you made in the past. Reblog it so new friends and followers can see it. Remember what it was like to work on it and the sense of accomplishment when you finished it and what you learned from it. You might even get a bonus and find yourself inspired to revisit an idea or create a new take on it.
It's an obnoxious cliche at this point, but yes: touch grass Online fandom spaces have been a cornerstone of my social and creative circles for over two decades, so I am not by any means suggesting that there is no value in spending a lot of time here. But you absolutely need to take breaks from your devices and reconnect with the physical world or you will go nuts. Go for a walk, spend a day outside with friends or your pets, pick up a tangible craft like coloring books or journaling--Just find something to get you away from your computer and phone.
tl;dr - Creating in fandom should be fun and enjoyable and a reprieve from all of this shit, not an extension of it. There's absolutely no reason to put this burden on yourself to be some superfan posting new work 37 times a week. If you're in the zone and you've got that flow, roll with it, of course, but don't feel like it always has to be like that because it won't be. And that is completely fine.

Robin and Nancy have been together for over a year, their sex life was full of different experiences but one that they had discussed frequently was a threesome.
You had been in their inner circle since the beginning, they knew that you had the biggest crush on both of them. They had discussed the idea of bringing you into the equation at length.
They flirted with you every day at school, testing the waters to see if you would truly do anything. When you were on your own with either of the girls, you flirted relentlessly but grew nervous around both of them. Not wanting to seem like you were sabotaging their relationship.
One rainy Friday, you all organized to study at your house. The girls seemed keen, they had mentioned earlier in the day that they needed to rush home to “change”
By change, they were really grabbing some of their sex toys. Wanting to try with you in your room, they knew that it would be where you would feel the safest.
They arrived not long after school finished, their faces were full of mischief and glee. You assumed that they had, had sex but they just looked at each other making you feel more confused.
Once upstairs, you sorted out your study books. You were lying on your double bed with both the girls either side of you. You looked through your textbook as music blasted through your stereo, the girls were lying on their stomachs.
Looking bored as they flickered through their school books, you stumble onto a question after trying to figure it out. You give up struggling and decide to ask the girls for help. Nancy is smart so she might know the answer.
“Nancy? Could you help with this question please?
“Say pretty please”
“Pretty please Nancy”
She had moved closer to you now, you could feel her breath on your skin. Your eyes met Robin’s who just winked at you.
“Good girl”
Shivers were sent down your spine, your body felt hot. You wanted to hear her say it again.
“Again”
You whispered, hoping that she didn’t hear. Turning your attention down to the question in front of you, Nancy’s mouth was close to your ear now. Only you and her could hear both of your words.
“Good girl”
“Now let’s get on with this question”
Nancy helps you through the question, after 2 tries you are able to correctly answer it. You felt pleased with yourself, Nancy’s body was hovering over yours with her left hand supporting her body weight.
You wanted to stay like this forever, you secretly enjoyed Nancy praising you.
“Look at what such a good girl she’s been Robin”

Robin X Femreader Smut Imagine:
I can't believe this is happening
Tumblr media
Based off a dream by: @oo0lady-mad0oo
You and Robin the best of friends, seeing each other daily at school, in band practice and after school. Steve began to grow of all the time you guys spent together, always interrogating you both about whether there was a secret relationship happening that he wasn't in on.
You had fancied Robin since the moment your eyes met in the crowded hall just after band performance, you had been new to the school and were nervous to perform strongly in band practice. She reassured you that day, offering you lessons to improve your band practice. You soon grew close.
You came out to her about liking girls, anxious of her reaction her but she assured you that you were not the only girl who liked girls. Winking at you.
One night after a failed attempt at studying, you popped into Family Video to see Robin and Steve packing away a pile of video tapes chatting together. The noise of the door making Robin jump, a little squeal escaped her mouth causing you to smirk. She looked super cute trying to hide the fact that the noise was her, blushing at you.
Steve stood up and tilted his head to you,
''Alright'' he was clasping a bunch of video tapes firmly in his hands, his eyes staring into your soul.
He'd never tell Robin but he'd always thought you were cute.
You walked to the back of the shop, still aware that Robin was hiding from you. Assuming that she was talking about you.
Scanning the comedy movies until you noticed a new film had come out 'Ferris Bueller's day off' intrigued you picked it up, bringing it to the counter where Robin had popped up from beneath the counter.
You smirked as she ran the video tape through.
''Fancy giving this a watch with me? Its a new release isn't it?'' you softly spoke, edging closer to her. You felt her body tense up, there had always been an uncontrollable amount of tension between you two.
''Uh, Yeah it is. But sure, I'll be round yours once I clock off which is in an hour'' she smiled at you kind of awkwardly, winking at her as you grabbed the video tape and left.
An hour and 30 minutes later, you heard your doorbell ring. Getting up from the couch where you had arranged some snacks for you both. Robin had changed out of her Family Video clothing and into a soft green t-shirt and jeans with black boots, her hair was still wet from an obvious shower.
She looked irresistible.
Inviting her in, she sat awkwardly on the couch as you put the video into the television. You joined her waiting for the movie to start, making conservation you ask her about her day until the movie title screen blasts out noise causing you both to jump.
After relaxing, you both settle down into the couch munching on food. Robin keeps glancing over to you between scenes in the movie. Her laugh filled the room, the actress that Robin was clearly fixated on was annoying you.
She was pretty but you wanted her attention. Craved her attention, wanting to know what she tasted like.
You didn't notice that you had been staring at Robin, you turned to focus on the tv. Licking your lips, all the time you just wanted to kiss her.
Her attention was snatched once more to the beautiful actress, throwing her head back laughing looking at you. Her face was closer to you now, your breath was hitting her face as you stared at her in amazement.
Without thinking, you touched her face with your hand causing her to whimper in shock. Her face turned to look at you as you caressed her face, bringing her lips closer to yours. Robin was hesitant but kissed you softly back.
It wasn't long before she pushed you onto the couch kissing you aggressively, soft moans escaping both of your mouths. Switching positions as you lay on top of her, both of you now in your underwear. She looked stunning in her pastel pink lace underwear and matching sports bra, looking nervous as you kiss down her body.
You pull off her underwear with her teeth, growling as you lick down until you reach her clit. Her body quivers, you suck hard on her clit making her moan. Her hips bucking as she rides your face, grinding her clit against your tongue. Moaning loudly with pleasure, you insert your fingers inside her vagina. Feeling her wet pussy as you fuck her.
She cums hard in your mouth, removing your fingers you lick up her vagina and back on her clit again.
''No, Let me fuck you''
She pushes you off her, forcing you on your back. Pulling down your underwear and began grinding her clit against yours, as she kissed you passionately.
As your pussies moved together, watching her in pleasure. She looked wonderful and hot at the same time as she fucked up. Her hands wandered around your neck, choking you lightly not wanting to hurt you.
''Oh god I can't believe this is actually happening'' giggling through her orgasm.

Eddie Munson would definitely push your head into the pillow as he fucked you from behind, muffling your moans
He’d be interested in wearing a cock ring as he choked you, enjoying the vibrations as it slid in and out of you.
Your voice going hoarse, his hands holding your arms above you. Your clit grinding against the bed, your body shaking as his tip hit your soft spot.
Eddie Munson’s rings would feel cold against your skin, his lips nibbling on your neck.
Whispering “you’re such a good girl, taking my cock aren’t you” as you whine and whimper.

Steve Harrington likes to fuck you slowly, his hands are intertwined with yours as he slide in and out of you. Wanting to truly feel you, hitting your soft spot with long and soft strokes.
His moans are raspy and hot against your ear, his lips peppering your neck and collarbones. He loves to watch you shiver as he blows on the wet spot.
His hands tightening as he would slowly move your legs around his back, shivering and whimpering as he’d try his hardest not to speed up. Even as you whispered in his ear, his pace would stay the same.
Your hips would buck beneath him, groaning and begging to speed up but his hands would slide around your neck and squeeze tightly.
His eyes would roll back as he’d continue to move so slowly, riding slowly through his orgasm. Only at the end would he speed up, his fingers would play with your clit as he came hard inside you.
Ensuring that you came too, your pleasure was important to him but he enjoyed edging you through slowly fucking you.

I found this more psychologically difficult than anything octo expansion had to throw at me, including inner agent 3. The sheer amount of time I had to put into it is what made it so hard to deal with. That said, easily 95% of that time was spent just trying to get to the first checkpoint, if I’m estimating across all of my attempts.
People tell me that the segments of this you find the most difficult depends on where your strengths and weaknesses are. And precise character movement, like, the ability to actually get yourself where you want to be when you want to be there, is absolutely one of my biggest difficulties, which I guess makes sense coming from a long history of.... never having played an action shooter in my life prior to this.
That said, by the time I finally got through the first segment, it was practically muscle memory getting up to the last part with the block-platforms rotating through the water. Even pre-inking the heck out of them from above, I still had to balance continuously moving forward as fast as possible with the awareness of knowing when I was close enough to ink the wall on the right. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced such literal-feeling tunnel vision as I was so focused on jumping to the next block it was incredibly hard to see the wall that was literally on my screen in front of me.
But today, I managed. I’m glad it was on a friday, because I knew I wasn’t going to want to leave the level until I finished it once I hit the first checkpoint. It had simply taken me far far too long to get there.
I think the second segment cost me most of my power eggs. For a brief moment I actually worried that I might run out and have to start the level all over anyway. But it was ultimately extremely short compared to the first, so it was easy to run it over and over and over until I finally got through it. I’d place this 3rd in difficulty overall, taking into account that the psychological factor of the grind to learn the pattern not being even 20% as tedious as the first segment. It was even a lot of fun-- it was just so satisfying popping all those balloons in a row.
The third segment, definitely the easiest. I was actually almost weirded out by how easy it was. I’ve come quite a way in my confidence in dealing with soaker blocks. I don’t actually find them particularly fun as a mechanic, but it was a relief to have something less difficult for a change.
The fourth I would say was the second hardest. Again, a lot of that difficulty was the psychological impact of the amount of time you had to just stand and wait for the blocks to go down so the platform could pass while doing nothing. Combined with my weakness in precise movement skills, I had to try this one quite a number of times before I got there.
The octoling bit was the most fun. I just love octoling fights, I don’t know, maybe because they’re just the most chaotic and unpredictable, they never feel like a grind to attempt over and over again. I did have to make several attempts on the last wave, but it didn’t feel painful or frustrating. It just felt very cool, actually. I squid-rolled a bunch to escape enemies/deflect damage and when my shield broke I curling-bombed and swam ahead to keep continuously moving while it recovered. This game is very good at making me feel like a real action-hero of sorts.
Ultimately I finished it in less time than I expected to need beyond the first checkpoint. I thought I might be throwing myself into it all weekend, but this means tonight I can play with my friends instead :>

It looks like it’s going to snow. The air is crisp, and the thick clouds are covering Seoul like a heavy blanket. You stuff your hands into your pockets as you scold yourself for forgetting the handwarmer you bought earlier. It would come in handy now. The subway ride had warmed you up, but all of the warmth escaped your body once you climbed up the stairs and took a lungful of the cold outside air.
You’re now standing in front of the sixth exit of Myeongdong station, waiting for Wheein and Hyejin who organized this whole thing of a reunion. A sign on a nearby bus stop says it’s just one degree above zero and this new acquired piece of knowledge only makes you shiver more.
Seeing a group of high schoolers in their uniforms pass by made you reminisce those times, when life was probably a bit easier than now, even if it didn’t seem like it back then. You used to be an inseparable trio in high school, always hanging out together, spending your free time either in one of the many coin noraebangs or pc bangs around your school. It made you miss the idle afternoons spent singing your heart out into the microphones with those thin fabric covers and becoming so hungry that you each ate a whole serving of tteokbokki and then get scolded at home for being too full to eat dinner.
When you found out that you got into a different university than your two friends, you all promised to keep in touch and to meet often. Which you did, if you’d define often as once every few months.
Today was finally one of those days. You were excited to meet them both, but they could hurry up a bit. You pace around the entrance to the shopping district in an attempt to warm yourself up, the tower on top of Namsan peeking through the clouds signaling the air pollution is fairly bad by its yellowish color.
Your toes are starting to get cold and your ears are not much warmer but then you feel a weight landing around your shoulders. You jump up because of the sudden intrusion into your personal space but calm down as soon as you see two familiar faces.
“Y/n! Sorry for being late!” Wheein sheepishly grins at you, her head poking out of a giant fluffy scarf.
You know her far too well, when was she ever on time. You still haven’t lost hope with her though and always come on time.
Hyejin then adds as she sneaks her arm around yours, “I tried to make her hurry, but you know how she is.”
Wheein furrows her brows at you both as you start walking but soon joins in and locks her arm with your other one. It only makes you laugh, and you stumble, arm in arm, through the crammed streets of Myeongdong.
“Your hair is so long now, Y/n.” Hyejin comments. “I may be swayed by the bob trend, but I like short hair better. And I realized only after cutting it that long hair is such a pain.”
You chuckle at that. “My mom cut my hair short my whole childhood. Don’t you think I deserve long hair at least now?”
“Suit yourself but you’re gonna understand sooner or later that short hair is superior.”
“Yeah, sure, sure.” You brush off her words jokingly.
“Not to interrupt the hair debate but, Y/n, are you sure you’re gonna be alright if Jimin comes?”
You look at Wheein with incredulous eyes while holding on to both of your friends so that you don’t lose each other in the crowd. “How many times do I have to tell you I’m long over him. You’re both insufferable, you know that?” You say laughing and poke Wheein with your elbow.
So far, this evening looks like it’s going to be great. Having these two by your side makes you feel invincible, the same as in high school. The swarm of people blocking your way seems like a piece of cake to get through with them next to you.
The only thing that bothers you is that Hyejin with Wheein invited every single one of your classmates. It was up to them if they decided to come or not after all. They assured you that people change and grow up, that it’s been three years since you last saw everyone.
You wanted to believe your friends, but your gut feeling was telling you some people are never going to change.
The pub Wheein booked is located in one of the smaller streets that connect the main streets, and one would most likely miss it if not looking for it specifically. Your fingers slowly start to melt as you go up one flight of stairs and enter the already bustling pub, your two friends following right behind you.
As luck would have it, your eyes fall on the one person you hoped not to see. Nayeon spots you and your friends as soon as the glass door closes behind you, sending you a crooked smile. You can’t help but sigh at the sight of your high school nemesis. Right next to her sits Jisoo, a girl that never really did anything bad to you but being a bystander to Nayeon’s shenanigans was as bad in your eyes.
Why the girl didn’t like you, she never said, but she did make it obvious enough. Even now, as she stared you up and down with an irritating look.
Some people are never going to change, you thought. What a lovely start to the party.
Hyejin obviously notices the shift in your mood and pulls you by your hand to the other side of the tables booked for your class.
“Y/n, don’t let that girl ruin your mood so easily!” She sounds worried but her voice is firm. “Three years went by since you last saw everyone, are you going to let her ruin this for you? For everyone? Don’t even look her way if she’s going to act like a brat.”
You can see the sincerity of Hyejin’s words in her eyes and try to look as unbothered by Nayeon’s stare as possible.
“I know, thanks.” You give her a small smile.
It’s not easy to fool your friend, but she must have seen your will to at least try because she’s sitting you down at the table next to your friends which you haven’t seen since graduation and joining Wheein at the counter, probably because of some more organization with the pub staff.
Once the two finally join in on the fun, much more people have come and you are actually having a nice conversation with Woosik, Taehyung and a boy you weren’t sure you remembered the name of. You were talking about everything and anything that happened during the time you haven’t seen each other. Which universties the others are attending, how your homeroom teacher had quit and started her own business and that one of your classmates is already married with a child on the way.
Nayeon is still slightly getting on your nerves because you can hear her obnoxious fake laugh from the other side of the room but it’s bearable with the others distracting you. A lot has changed since high school, but of course her demeanor stayed the same.
“So, guys, the food is unlimited for that set price I sent you earlier so just remember how much you drank, got it?” You hear Wheein shout and clank a chopstick against a bottle of soju in the middle of the pub.
“I’m really happy so many of us gathered today so let’s have some fun!” She continues even louder and everyone including you shouts in celebration, some people even clapping and clinking glasses.
“Cheers!” Taehyung raises his glass over the center of your table, which happens to be a grill with sizzling meat, but people seated around you immediately join the toast. “Cheers to Jimin hopefully arriving before we get too drunk.” He then adds.
You see Woosik raising his brows in surprise. “I assumed he’s not coming since he’s not here already. What happened to our always on time class president?”
Everyone laughs at that, remembering that Jimin was always the first one in class in the morning.
Taehyung then proceeds to defend his friend after downing the shot of soju in his hand. “He’s really punctual even now. He just had something important at school he couldn’t afford to miss. But he’ll be here any minute now, I think.”
You hear Hyejin scoff. “It’s a Friday evening for God’s sake! Let us live, professors!”
A few people start complaining about the stuff their teachers make them do but before you can share your complaints about all the assignments you had to complete by the end of the semester, you hear excited welcomes from the other part of the pub. Nayeon’s squealing is especially hard to miss.
It makes everyone from your table lift their eyes to the entrance, where stands no one else than your class president.
“Speak of the devil.” Woosik says and Hyejin sends you a wicked grin and wiggles her eyebrows.
No matter how many times you told her that you really are over your high school crush, she wouldn’t believe you.
“You don’t have any closure though.” Was what both her and Wheein would tell you every time. Did you really need closure for a crush that never developed into anything more than that though?
Your high school self thought that a one-sided love was pretty great. You could like a person as much as you wanted and then stop whenever you felt like it. And you convinced your heart you felt like stopping once you graduated.
Your friends then tried setting you up with some guys, you went on dates with some of them, but the spark was never there.
At some point you managed to persuade your girls to stop trying so hard, which only reinforced their belief that Jimin was still occupying a part of your heart.
“Jimin!” Taehyung jumps up from his seat, soju bottles on the table shaking and the chair he was sitting on almost falling over.
You see Jimin’s features soften as his excited and a bit tipsy friend tightly hugs him like a koala.
He looks so different from the boy you used to have a crush on. His hair is now longer and a silverish color, both of his ears pierced by two small golden hoops, he’s wearing a bright red cardigan under a long black coat and black boots that make him look taller than what you remember.
The one thing that hasn’t visibly changed is the way his eyes turn into half-moons when he smiles.
Your heart does a flip when his eyes stop on yours for a while, that smile still plastered on his face.
Maybe you do need closure after all.
When you wake up from your daze, Taehyung is already dragging a free chair to your table, making Woosik and the other boy scoot over so that they can all fit.
Like that, you find yourself seated right across from Jimin, stealing glances at him while trying to keep track of the conversation as well as your composure. It could be just your imagination, but you feel his eyes on you too. You’re just not brave enough to face him, not trusting yourself judging from the glitch in your brain his mere presence caused.
The waitress brings a new glass and a plate for Jimin and as soon as she turns around, everyone’s attention is on the latecomer. Hyejin compliments his hair color but Taehyung immediately gushes that the pink he had on before was so much better.
“I got tired of it, Tae. Why don’t you dye your own hair, huh?” Jimin rustles his friend’s overgrown curly hair as he defends his hair color choice.
“I treasure my hair more than to bleach it.”
“You sure do. That’s why you‘ve gotten it permed.”
“Yah, Jimin! You don’t have to call me out like that.” You all crack up at that, Taehyung’s face turning into a sulking grimace.
Even though Jimin looks so different, he still seems to be the same boy inside, cracking jokes with Taehyung yet appearing to be the calmer one of the boys.
Some shots of soju and classmates’ stories later, Hyejin starts grumbling about the other table. “I thought Nayeon would calm down, but she’s still the same, huh?”
“I seriously don’t understand how Jisoo tolerates that girl’s temper.” You add. “I don’t even know what I did for her to hate me so much.” A pout forms on your lips.
“Right!” Hyejin is leaning in your direction to hold your hand with both of hers. “She’s never had a real reason to be so mean to our Y/n.”
“Wait, you seriously don’t know why she didn’t like Y/n?” Woosik then asks.
You look at him with a puzzled expression, your eyes then falling on Jimin who is seemingly… blushing?
“How would you of all people know that, Woosik?” Hyejin squints her eyes at your classmate who only chuckles and pats the blushing boy’s shoulder before continuing.
“She had the biggest crush on Jimin!”
“And…?” You pause, taking in Jimin’s embarrassed face. “What’s that to do with me?” You were confused to say the least.
Hyejin was more bored than anything by his statement. “Everyone knows that, Woosik. She walked around having it practically written on her forehead all throughout high school.”
You notice Jimin is pouring himself a shot and downing it right away, as if trying to catch up with the rest of you. You feel like everyone except for Hyejin and yourself knows some amazing secret that they were never kind enough to share.
“Ouch!” Woosik then cries out. “What was that for?” The table trembles a little.
Taehyung shakes his head at him. “Woosik, you sure talk too much when you’ve had something to drink.” He forces a smile that looks more intimidating than friendly. Jimin sitting between them is just looking down at the table, as if the plate in front of him was the most interesting thing in the world right now.
“You’re so secretive guys!” Hyejin whines, leaning on her hands against the table. “Tell me, tell me.” She seems already drunk by the way she can’t sit straight and also by the fact she can’t read the atmosphere.
“I’m gonna use the restroom for a bit.” You quickly make your escape from the tense air that surrounded your table. As you take a peek over your shoulder at where you were sitting a few seconds ago, Hyejin is still whining about them not letting her in on the secret and Wheein is just moving to yet another spot, probably trying to talk to every single person present tonight.
When you wash your hands and look at yourself in the bathroom mirror, your clouded mind wanders to the previous conversation again. If you think about how Woosik put it, it almost sounds like… like Nayeon didn’t like you because you were in her way, blocking her from snatching Jimin.
You’re pretty sure you never told no one about your crush, apart from your two friends whom you trusted to not spill anything. Also, she wouldn’t hate you just because of that, right? Other girls, God knows maybe even guys, must have been crushing on Jimin, so why would she hate you of all people?
Lost in thought and wiping the water from your hands in your trousers on your way back, you’re suddenly stopped by a wall. Wait, a wall? You lift your head to inspect the soft obstacle that has made you stop and the sight you’re met with is enough to make your heart skip a beat.
Jimin is standing mere inches away from you, looking as confused and dumbfounded as you.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you. You okay?” he asks, his voice laced with concern, both arms gently holding your shoulders.
You take a quick step back from him. “I’m alright. Sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going.”
Can it be more awkward than this, you cry out in your mind and you pace out of the dim corridor. Jimin’s appearance managed to agitate you once again tonight.
“Y/n…!” Jimin’s voice stops you in your tracks. “I’m… I’m sorry for that earlier. The air became so heavy, I’m not even surprised you ran off from that table. You’re not upset, right?” He hesitates a little on that last sentence and you see a shy smile spreading on his features when you face him again.
As expected of the attentive and kind class president, always caring for others before thinking about himself.
Shaking your head, you reply. “I have no reason to be. If anyone should be upset, it’s you.” You shoot him a sheepish smile. “You looked pretty uncomfortable when the topic was brought up.”
“Ah.” Is what falls out of Jimin’s mouth and he reaches for the back of his neck, rubbing the spot hesitantly. “I know I’m supposed to treat everyone objectively as the former class president but… Nayeon is a bit too much to handle, you know?”
“Yeah, she was always a force to be reckoned with. Especially when it comes to you.”
“Right…” He sighs. “Sorry again for bumping into you like that.”
“It’s really nothing, Jimin. Don’t worry.” At that, he only smiles and passes you in the way to the bathroom.
You return to the table only to find Hyejin almost laying on the table face-front, mumbling something about Taehyung being a meanie. A long exhale escapes your lips at the thought of helping Wheein carry Hyejin to their apartment.
“Who’s down for round two?” Taehyung asks, hands busy playing with the strap of a cap from some soju bottle. “This place is dying down!”
“Let’s git it!” Hyejin mumbles and slaps one of her palms against the table surface. Both Woosik and Taehyung look at her with disbelief but start laughing after a while.
“Hyejin, you’re going home.” You scold her as if she were a kid. “No more drinks for you tonight, girl.”
“Y/n, I can take her home just fine, you go have your fun.” All of a sudden Wheein appears next to you and flashes you a brief wicked grin right after finishing her sentence.
“Whee, are you sure?” You send her a concerned look, baffled by the timing of her appearance. “I know how she gets when she’s had too much soju.”
She just waves her hand at you dismissively. “Don’t worry about her so much. We’re gonna get home just fine. It’s the opposite direction from your place anyways.”
“Okaaay, so Y/n is coming with us!” Taehyung then announces right as Jimin comes back. “Woosik? You down?”
“Sure, let’s burn this Friday down!”
Taehyung then continues, turning to the silver haired boy. “Jimin, you have no right to object. You came late so you need to make up for it.”
You were about to reject the invitation but Jimin was faster at replying. “Guess I have no choice.” He then lifted his gaze at you. “Let’s try to stay the more sober ones, Y/n. These two are already doomed to have a bad hangover anyways.” He gestures to Taehyung and Woosik. “Sounds like a plan?”
The idea of leaving drunk Hyejin with tipsy Wheein and staying out with the guys suddenly didn’t seem that bad. The things you do because of him.
“Sounds like a plan.” You repeat, the meaning of the words only sinking in once the guys are getting up and heading to the counter, searching their respective pockets for wallets to pay the dinner with.
“Go have fun, Y/n!” Wheein encourages you. She knows you don’t go out to party that often but there’s probably another reason why she’s so fervent about it. That reason being the boy that’s now heartily laughing at something Taehyung has said.
“I guess I owe you one, Wheeinie.” You say as you hug your girl friend tightly. “Get home safe and text me if Hyejin survived.”
“Don’t mention it. But I want updates about you and your prince charming!” the mischievous look coming back to her face.
Before you can retort to her request, the three boys are gesturing for you to hurry up. “Y/n, let’s go!” Taehyung shouts across the pub.
His loud voice makes a few people lift their heads, most of them just waving their goodbyes to you four.
Right as you smile and thank the waitress after getting back your card from her, you hear that high-pitched voice again.
“Jimin! Are you leaving?” Of course it’s Nayeon.
At that, Taehyung turns his back towards the pub and starts pushing Jimin out through the glass door, as if in panic. Woosik tags along and seen you don’t want to spare that girl a single look more, you bow to the waitress one last time and follow the three of them onto the stairs and down. The chilly air hits you right when you step out of the door and you hurriedly put on your scarf, a shiver running down your spine nevertheless. The things you would do to have Wheein’s chunky scarf right now.
The narrow street was completely empty except for the four of you and one older guy leaning against a building a few meters away, cigarette smoke leaving his mouth as he spares your group one look before minding his own business again.
You were never scared of the night but having three friends next to you made you feel very safe. Myeongdong may be a relatively small and safe district, but these alleyways are scary anywhere.
“Do you guys know any good spots around here?” You remember that no one mentioned where you were headed for the second round of drinks.
“Don’t worry, miss, I know of a lovely place around Jongno.” Taehyung says in a lively tone. “It’s called XX. A brilliant name for a bar, don’t you think?” He then stumbles a few steps forward, apparently more drunk than you thought.
“He’s just saying that because he has the fattest crush on the bartender there.” Woosik scoffs with a laugh. “It’s a nice place though. Not too loud and it has a nice ambience.”
Jimin then speaks up, way more sober than the two boys who are leading the way. “I’m gonna have to trust you on that too. You’re finally showing me the place, Tae.”
You then watch a scene of the two of them bickering about Jimin not making enough time for Taehyung so that he could show him the bar and the bartender lady he likes so much unfold in front of your eyes. It feels like you traveled three years in time, back to your teenage years, except you’re tipsy and out after midnight in the city center. Woosik is laughing at the two friends’ antics and you join in.
Joking around with them like this makes you relax even when you’re still trembling from the cold when the wind gets under your jacket. The nervousness you felt during the evening when you were around Jimin long forgotten.
The streets of Myeongdong are now almost empty compared to the amount of people you saw earlier that night. You exit the district, cross Euljiro where at this time of the day are only taxis waiting for their drunk customers and lastly you cross a bridge over Cheonggyecheon where you stop your steps, even though the wind is stronger here.
The way the trough of the stream is decorated with Christmas themed lanterns and various lights is mesmerizing to say the least. You marvel at the delicate snowflake-shaped lanterns that hang above the water surface as if they were falling.
Only when Taehyung calls out your name, you realize that the three boys kept walking while you stayed behind, bewitched by the beauty of your surroundings.
“It’s so pretty!” You shout back at them, your voice louder than usual thanks to all the soju in your system. Stretching out your arms, you point at the lanterns and wave at the three of them to come and take a look at the decorated stream too.
Taehyung wobblingly rushes back first, almost bumping into you as he leans against the bridge right next to you. Jimin follows right behind, circling around you and leaning against the railing from your other side.
“Waah, it looks like we’re in a fairytale!” The curly boy marvels at the sight of the illuminated water stream. “We should take a picture! Let’s take a picture!”
Woosik then joins you in slow strides. “You’re impossible. First you rush to see the bartender and now we’re taking pictures. Fine.” A sigh escapes his mouth, but he still stretches out his arm as a sign for Taehyung to give him his phone.
Before you or Jimin have a chance to protest against the idea, Woosik is taking a few steps back with Taehyung’s phone pointed in your direction.
“One, two… Jimin, what’s with that stiff smile. At least stick a bit closer to each other, it looks like a very bad family picture right now.” Woosik comments while switching his attention from the screen to you three.
Taehyung does as he’s told, squishes closer against your body but retorts to Woosik’s comment feigning annoyance. “Since when were you so passionate about photography?”
Jimin leans closer against you too. The one with a stiff smile is now probably yourself. When was the last time someone’s bare proximity made you this flustered? The speed of your racing heart only amplifies when Jimin’s arm slips around your waist. He’s suddenly so close that you catch a whiff of his perfume, only making you dizzier.
“Okay, whatever. My fingers are gonna freeze off.” Woosik’s voice brings you back to reality. “One, two, three, kimchi!”
It took you a few seconds to register, but you burst out laughing at his cheesy way of telling you to smile. “Who even says that anymore?”
You feel Jimin’s hold on you tighten as he can’t hold his laughter either. You remembered it was a habit of his to fall onto the thing closest to him when he was laughing, but actually being the object in question is very endearing.
“You’re so cute when you’re drunk, Woosik.” Jimin manages to get out as his body shakes with laughter.
“Hmph.” Woosik huffs. “Let’s go Tae.”
Your heart does a flip when the boy holding you looks you in the eyes, his own still resembling two crescent moons. “Let’s hurry, you must be cold.” He says, head motioning to Woosik and Taehyung who took off already and his arm letting go of your waist.
The reply you manage to give him is a simple nod, afraid your voice would give away the state he put you in.
“Here.” Jimin offers. You look down to his extended arm, only to spot a pair of gloves in his hand. “They’re really warm, put them on.”
What is he so kind for, you internally scream. “Ah, thank you.” You say as you accept the garment from him with a smile. “Won’t you be cold though?”
“I’ll be fine. Or you can always hold my hand and share some of the warmth.”
It takes you a while to process what he just said but when you do, your eyes widen and you feel heat rising to your cheeks.
“Come on, let’s go or we’re gonna lose them.” Jimin grins and begins walking in the same direction as your two other friends.
Was he always this flirty or is that the soju he downed speaking? Anyhow, it made you feel all giddy because you’ve never before witnessed him acting like this. Not that you ever had a chance to see him tipsy since you weren’t allowed to drink yet back then.
As you catch up with the two that are leading your way, you’re tempted to really hold Jimin’s hand like he told you to, but the liquid courage doesn’t come that easy to you. Jimin never said he was joking, yet you can’t seem to shake the thought that he’s just very kind and would give up his gloves for any of his friends.
With Jimin occasionally sending a smile your way, the four of you made your way to the bar. A small neon sign above the entrance spells “XX”, purple light from it and from the lights along the stairs that lead you below the ground level illuminating your steps.
If it wasn’t for Taehyung leading the way, you’d think it’s some sketchy club. Your opinion immediately changes once you set foot on a soft red carpet that covers the dark wooden floor. A few guests are sitting in leather armchairs that are placed around delicate looking tables, soft warm light coming from little lamps illuminates the space and Christmassy jazz music plays in the background. Though the whole room is a sight to behold, the wall of liquor bottles behind the long bar counter steals the spotlight.
Behind the counter you see a woman, maybe in her late twenties, hair tied neatly in a low bun, her bangs making her look elegant but youthful at the same time. By the frozen reaction of Taehyung, it’s most likely the bartender Woosik mentioned earlier on.
She’s very attractive, wearing a black shirt tucked neatly into her trousers but slightly unbuttoned at the neck and a golden name tag pinned on her chest. If it wasn’t for your crush on Jimin occupying most of your mind, you’d probably girl crush on her big time.
You follow Taehyung who takes a seat on one of the bar stools, closer to the bartender than at a table but still far from where she’s standing. The stools are more comfortable than they look, and you feel more tense about Jimin’s proximity than about your feet barely reaching the footrest.
“Good evening, what can I get for you?” the bartender asks, looking at you.
“Uhm…” it was your first time in a western-style bar like this and all of the bottles on display right in front of your eyes made it look intimidating. “Would you recommend me something?”
Dreading her reaction, you were pleasantly surprised to see a warm smile spreading on her lips. “Would you prefer something sweeter or something that’s more on the bitter side?”
After a moment of hesitation, you answered. “Sweet, please.”
“I’ll think of something for you, then.” She reassures you and you notice the shiny name tag on her shirt spells Hani. “And for you, gentlemen?”
As she turns to them, you see Taehyung rub his hands on his legs, probably sweaty because of the nervous state he’s in.
“I’ll have an Old Fashioned.” Jimin orders with assurance and Woosik follows by ordering a simple Cuba Libre. When it’s Taehyung’s turn to choose a drink, a silence spreads across the counter.
“Should I bring you the usual?” Hani proposes after a while.
At that, the curly boy nods and answers with a quiet “Yes, please.”
The bartender nods as well and proceeds to prepare the drinks. No sooner than she turns around, Woosik starts teasing the other boy about their brief but awkward interaction. You too were surprised that the always loud and outgoing boy became so timid in front of the bartender, but your thoughts are dispersed soon.
“Noona!” You hear a voice that seems somehow very familiar but Jimin’s expression shifts into a dubious one at the sound of it. Once you peer in the direction it came from, you’re met with a beaming face of your hoobae from your English class.
“Ah! What a coincidence.” The boy leans on the empty bar stool where you set your purse and Jimin’s gloves. “You’re not here with anyone?” It was out of his character to be out at a bar like this. Or at least out of the character he presented himself with at school.
Jimin’s attention is now on you, and it could be just your dizzy consciousness messing with you, but you swear you feel him move closer to you, his scent stronger than a while ago.
“Here’s the Old Fashioned, and a Soul Kiss for you.” Hani slides the drinks in front of you in a graceful manner. “I hope the drink suits your taste.”
You nod and thank the bartender.
“I’m here with Lisa, noona.” He says in a hushed voice as soon as Hani moves closer to the other two boys..
Your eyes widen at his words. “You finally asked her out!”
The younger boy’s cheeks turn to a pale peachy color, unable to hide his shyness at your statement. “Sort of… I’m working on it.” He then replies, fidgeting with the hem of his sky-blue shirt that fits him like a glove. The tension that momentarily formed between Jimin and the younger boy disappearing at once.
“I told you she has a thing for you.” You playfully poke at his shoulder. “Ah, right! I haven’t introduced you two. Jimin, this is Jungkook, my hoobae.” When you turn your head in Jimin’s direction, he’s closer than expected but you try to keep your cool. You don’t bother introducing him to the other two, because there seems to be no end to their bickers.
“Nice to meet you, Jimin-ssi.” A smile blooms on Jungkook’s face, showing his bunny teeth. “Are you noona’s boyfriend?”
The younger one’s bluntness almost makes you choke on the sip of alcohol you just took, blocking any words from coming out of your mouth to reply to his curious eyes. Jimin does the job for you though, all while leaning even closer to you so that Jungkook hears him better.
“Unfortunately, I’m not. We went to high school together.”
His statement makes your heart sprint. Did he really just say that?
Jungkook’s eyes grow in size, a mischievous grin making its way on his delicate features. “It’s great keeping in touch with old friends, right?”
“It would be a shame to lose precious friends just because you don’t go to school with them anymore.” Jimin adds.
“Of course!” The standing boy nods but stills shortly after. “Ah! Lisa’s back, can’t leave her waiting.” His playful attitude now slightly stiffer. “It was nice meeting you, Jimin-ssi. See you in class, noona.” The suggestive eyebrow wiggle he manages to send without Jimin noticing makes you clench your fist.
“Yah!” You chide not so subtly.
Jimin truly didn’t notice Jungkook’s grimace because he’s looking at you with confusion written all over his face. “Why scold him, he seems like a nice kid.”
“He’s nice, but…” You honestly didn’t have anything to defend yourself with.
“But?”
“He likes to tease everyone. Including those older than him.” You reply after giving it a bit more thought. “Except for Lisa, the girl sitting opposite to him. He becomes putty in her hands.” You motion to the pair with your head.
“Seems like someone we both know.” Jimin adds as he looks over to Taehyung.
You can’t help but giggle. Taehyung was like a different person in the presence of Hani. But who are you fooling, Jimin has a similar effect on you too.
“I guess you don’t go to bars that often.” Jimin asks and sips on his drink, a pleased smirk forming on his face after placing the glass back down.
“I don’t even go out that often to begin with…” Your words drift off.
“Really? You don’t seem that fazed by the amount of soju we had at the pub earlier.”
“I’ve always had a pretty good tolerance.” You take a sip of the orangey liquid in your glass. Your higher tolerance of alcohol was something you weren’t too fond of though. It made it harder to lose some inhibitions like other people. The liquid courage was never something you could achieve with an acceptable number of shots and getting wasted to the point of not remembering what you were doing was never your thing. “I hope it’s not limited only to Korean drinks though.”
“I guess we’ll see.” Jimin chuckles at your statement.
“How’s the kiss?”
“What?” Your eyes shoot up in his direction.
“The drink.”
“Ah.” An obvious blush spreads across your cheeks. “Yeah… It’s- It’s sweet. I like it.”
“Do you wanna try mine? It’s a little bitter though.” He offers.
“Sure.” You don’t think you’re going to exactly enjoy his drink of choice but you’re too curious as to what Jimin’s taste is to not have a sip.
He slides the low glass closer to your hand and you pick it up, briefly examining the contents’ color. Your face scrunches into a grimace as the liquid hits your taste buds.
“So bitter!” You let out after putting the glass back down on the counter.
Even though the sip you just took wasn’t a pleasant experience, Jimin’s reaction definitely is. Supporting himself by his hands on the counter, he’s falling over with laughter.
“You’re really cute, you know that?”
Jimin, you’re really blunt when you’ve had something to drink, you know that? You answered in your mind with a question.
“You expressed the taste so well with your face.” He’s still laughing.
“Why do you drink it, then?” You ask with a pout, stealing glances at his laughing form.
“I like this kind of taste.”
The silver haired boy proceeds to swipe his hair back, only for it to fall into its former place. You also don’t fail to notice the short swipe of his tongue over his lips. It suddenly makes you wonder what kissing him would taste like. Like the bitter drink he sips on? Or would the sweetness of your cocktail overpower it? You try to imagine the taste but there’s not one good comparison you can think of.
“Y/n,” Jimin starts after a short silence due to your mind wandering off. “Do you want to know the reason why the girl we barely avoided earlier disliked you? But if you don’t feel like talking about it, we don’t ha-”
That definitely woke you up from your thoughts, not even giving you the opportunity to blush. “I don’t really mind… But you seemed quite bothered by it in the pub. Why bring it up?”
“Well… It has to do with you after all.”
“I don’t-“
“Back in eleventh grade, Nayeon overheard one conversation she wasn’t supposed to hear, hell, nobody was supposed to hear.” Jimin visibly shifts in his seat, gripping the glass in front of him a bit tighter. “I told Taehyung something that I’m a little scared to say to you even now.”
“Did I do something wrong?” Your worried look easing his unnerved figure slightly, shaking his head.
“No, no. It’s not you. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Jimin lets out a huff. “It’s me. I was being careless.” He pauses for a moment, eyes lingering on yours until you evade his gaze. “I told Taehyung that I like you. And she overheard it. So… It’s my fault she was so hostile towards you. I’m sorry.”
The words ‘I like you’ ring in your head, almost muting what he said afterwards. You stay frozen, your heart about to give out from the speed it’s beating at.
“Jimin… I-”
“I’m really sorry, I tried to talk to her, but she wouldn’t listen to anything I was saying.”
“Do you mean that?” you take a quick sip from your glass, praying the liquid would give you the courage you need.
“Yeah, I’m really sorry.” Jimin’s eyes drop down.
“No, wait, why weren’t those words in the past tense?”
“What do you mean?”
“Jimin, do you… do you like me?” You gather your courage.
“I- I…” He stutters before nodding. “Yeah, I like you.”
“Jimin…” you place your hand over his that is clutching his drink with too much force. He tenses at the contact but eases his grip soon enough. “Why did you never tell me?”
After a silence that followed your question, you can’t help but continue, the alcohol taking control of your voice. “I guess for the same reason I never told you…”
“Huh?” A confused murmur escapes his mouth.
“I had a huge crush on you during high school.” You sheepishly admit, your hands letting go of his and retreating closer to your body. “But I was never bold enough to tell you and you were out of my league. Being friends with you was more than enough for me.”
Jimin sips on the drink he was clutching so hard just a while ago and hums. “That means you don’t feel the same way anymore. It’s understandable, I’m the foolish one here when it’s been three years since we last spoke.”
There’s a sadness that spreads on his features even though the corners of his lips curl slightly up.
“I was convinced about it until a few hours ago.” You confess. “But now I feel like I’m seventeen again.”
“Jimin,” a voice interrupts you before Jimin manages to reply. It’s Woosik. He’s on his feet already, supporting wobbly Taehyung as the gets up from the bar stool. “We’re gonna get going. Tae’s had enough. Are you coming with us?”
He pauses after examining the situation he intervened in some more because of the silence that spreads around you. Both you and Jimin are looking elsewhere, his hands fiddling with his drink and yours clenched tightly in your lap. “Did I interrupt something here?”
The boy sitting next to you replies. “I’ll stay some more. We still have a lot to talk about with Y/n, isn’t that right?”
You nod and shift your focus on the two standing boys. They don’t seem to be too concerned about you and Jimin, focusing on standing straight and not forgetting any of their belongings.
“Get home safe, you guys.”
“You always end up so drunk, Taehyung. You’re unbelievable.” Jimin says but pats his friend on the shoulder.
Woosik only snorts. “Why is it always me taking him home?”
“Maybe because he’s always willing to pay for the cab and you live in the building next to his place?” Jimin retorts playfully.
“I hate you.” Is the only thing Woosik says goodbye with before heading to the staircase leading out.
“Love you too.”
Woosik butting in ended up lifting up the awkward tension between you two because you let out an unrestrained laugh, Jimin soon joining in.
“You guys really haven’t changed one bit.”
“You neither.” Jimin leans his chin against his hand, all while studying you with his eyes. “Only your hair got longer, and you’re not wearing a school uniform.”
“Oh? That’s all?” You pout.
“And you got even prettier.” He grins.
The instinct to hide your face behind your palms kicks in at once but Jimin is faster to get a hold of your hand, lightly holding it and kneading circles into it with his thumb. The soft gesture causes you to almost melt under his touch, biting on your lip.
“We may as well be the biggest fools on Earth, Jimin.” Your hand in his hold shifts so that you can intertwine your fingers with his.
“I know… Now I feel really bad, I’m sorry.” Jimin apologizes again but tightens his grip on your hand.
“Okay, no more saying sorry tonight. We can’t do anything about the past anyways.”
“Does that mean that you want to do something about the present?” A flirty smile returns to his face.
“I mean… Only if you want to.” Where did your confidence from a while ago disappear to, you’ll never know.
“I sure do.”
You look at each other for a while without saying a word but start giggling when the silence becomes too much.
“I can’t believe this.” You glance at your intertwined fingers, then at the boy’s brown eyes, taking in the tender look he’s giving you. “Doesn’t stuff like this happen only in movies?”
“Hmm, I’d say we’re living proof it happens in reality too.”
“Was the drink to your liking?” Hani inquires when she notices your glass is empty.
“Oh, yes, it was delicious. Thank you.”
“I’m glad to hear that.” After collecting the emptied glass, the bartender turns to Jimin with a softer look occupying her face. “Is the man that walked out leaning on his friend’s shoulder okay? He seemed very drunk…” Her words drift off.
“Ah, you mean Taehyung? He’s going to survive. You don’t have to worry about him too much.” Jimin answers a little startled.
“Taehyung…” Hani repeats after him, collecting the glass in front of him as well.
“Should I pass him your number?”
The bartender’s eyes shoot open at his suggestion. “I shouldn’t be doing this during my work hours…” After hesitating for a short while though, she swiftly takes out a business card out of her shirt pocket and slips it close to Jimin. He only winks at her and hides the paper in his back pocket. Hani then dashes off to busy herself with work, cheeks slightly flushed.
“Wow, are we really not in a movie? Do you think she likes Tae?” You say, after letting out a breath you didn’t know you were holding.
“I’d say it’s clear as day.”
“Cupid must be busy tonight.” You let a sigh escape when you spot your hoobae in the back of the bar and motion his way by lifting your chin.
Lisa is leaning against him, sitting side by side in a small sofa looking extremely comfortable. Jungkook’s arm is holding her shoulder, pressing her body tighter to his, a humongous grin plastered on both of their faces.
“One would think you’re jealous, Y/n!” Jimin teases.
You can’t help but pout at his accusation. “I’m just surprised by this outburst of luck and love from the universe.”
“Well, it’s Christmas soon.”
“Do you believe in Christmas miracles?” you ask Jimin.
“I think I might from now on.”
“Cheesy!” You punch his arm lightly.
“Yes, yes.” Jimin’s resigned reply makes you both giggle. “Should we get going too? Leave those two a little privacy.”
You snort at his words. “I’ll probably hear about it all from Jungkook the next time I see him anyways. But I feel like my wallet can’t take many more of these drinks. Let’s go.”
The night air is crisp but there’s some humidity that makes it feel colder than it actually is. A pout is slowly dissolving below your scarf as Jimin intently insisted that he was going to pay for your drink as well. Because he made you stay out longer and dragged you along to Taehyung’s bar of choice. You squeeze the pair of gloves he lent you earlier and burry your chin even more into the scarf that Jimin helped wrapping around your neck.
“You must be cold.” Jimin’s neck is pretty much exposed to the freezing air but he still shakes his head in denial.
“I’m good.” He then reaches out for your hand and your palms mold into each other as if it was the most natural thing. “Do you want to see the lanterns some more? You looked bewitched by it on the way here.”
“It was so pretty! Can’t blame me.” You hope the scarf around your shoulders and the darkness make the blush on your cheeks less visible but then you stop, making him turn around and face you. “Wait, Jimin, is that it? Are you trying to find excuses not to go home yet?”
“Is it that obvious?” Jimin fakes a laugh.
“Well, I want to spend more time with you too.” His eyes widen for a little bit as a current of wind ruffles his hair but then he smiles again. “Let’s go, before you freeze to death.”
“I’m not cold, Y/n!”
“Yes, yes.”
It was how comfortable he made you feel, joke around with you, yet still making your heart flutter. Just that. No other guy was able to evoke that kind of feeling in you. Just by walking next to you, holding your hand, softly bumping into each other’s shoulders on your tipsy feet.
The wind is playing with his silver hair, sometimes revealing a little more of his forehead and you almost forget to look where you’re walking as your eyes are engrossed in studying his features. The lanterns hung above the stream are of no big interest to you, mind occupied by the man next to you.
“Isn’t it too cold here?” Jimin asks, concerned.
You walked down to the path that is directly next to the icy water to see the scenery from a different perspective but failed to consider that. Water really made the air colder.
“We can just walk closer to each other.”
Jimin then guides your hand that he’s holding into the pocket of his coat but doesn’t let go. “I’ve always wanted to do this.”
“Do what? Walk next to Cheonggyecheon at two in the morning in freezing weather?” You tease.
“This.” He says as he gives your hand a gentle squeeze. “Give me your other hand.” Jimin requests and halts his steps. You comply right away, stuffing his gloves you’ve been holding into his still empty pocket along with both of your intertwined hands, leaving you standing face to face.
“It’s so warm.” You purr as his body heat reaches your skin. “But your neck still looks very cold.”
“It’s not like I will freeze when my pockets are this warm.” He defends himself with a smug smile.
Obviously not enough to convince you, before thinking twice, you close the distance between your bodies and lay your chin on his shoulder. You catch a whiff of his scent and the intimacy of standing so close to Jimin makes you melt against him.
Just then something cold lands on your nose.
“Y/n! It’s snowing!” Jimin lets out, excitement in his voice.
White fluffy snowflakes slowly fall all around you and fill the night sky. Everything seems quiet, as if the time has stopped, but the snow continues to fall, disappearing once hitting the ground.
“You know what they say about the first snow.” Jimin speaks up again. “If you’re together with someone during the first snowfall...”
He pulls away slightly, leaving your hands in his pockets and cups your face with his warm hands. You notice a few snowflakes get stuck in his hair, but they melt too soon for you to brush them away.
“You will stay together for a long time.”
“Hmm, I want to believe that.” You say, hands tightening in fists in Jimin’s pockets when you feel him pull you closer.
“Me too.” He almost whispers before his lips find yours, hasty at first, only slowing down when your arms encircle his waist.
You were right. No drink a bartender can mix can possibly come close to this. The keen movement of his lips still manages to be soft, sending shivers down your spine as he tucks a strand of loose hair behind your ear. Why drink alcohol when there’s something as addictive as this.
It seems you’re not the only one thinking that. No sooner than you pull away to catch your ragged breath, Jimin’s lips crash onto yours once more, this time in a more fervent manner, as if you’d disappear if he stopped.
You have an urge to pinch yourself just to make sure this is not a dream but the cold reassures you it’s not. Snow is still falling onto you both, lanterns swaying above your heads, but the only thing you can focus on is the man kissing your lips and his arms wrapped around you.
“Jimin-” You let out when he breaks the kiss, only to stare deep into your orbs and hum as a sign for you to continue. “I like you a lot.”
Jimin can’t contain the smile that overtakes his face, leaning his forehead against yours.
“You don’t even know how happy that makes me… Because I like you a lot too.”
“I know.” You plant a peck on his freezing nose and barely escape his counterattack.
You must look like a pair of fools, giggling and chasing each other in the middle of such a cold night, trying to steal kisses from one other, but you couldn’t care less.
As long as you’re with Jimin.

And We’re Living It Up (Leave It All Behind)
Tumblr media
Frank Iero x Band Member!Reader (i’m pretty sure that its all gender neutral)
Word Count: 939
A/N: Okay, so some of you might recognize this as a re-upload. I posted it on here several months ago but took it down because I was self-conscious. I was reading it again the other day and I actually really liked it, so I’m putting it back up! Enjoy!

I’m not delusional; I know that these characters are simply based off of a public persona and may not actually resemble the people behind those personas. Warped Tour, 2005. St Louis, MO.
It was only the third stop on Warped, and the heat was already un-fucking-bearable. And while the temperature in St Louis was creeping up on 95 degrees, you knew that it would feel like winter compared to the southwestern dates that lay ahead. Unfortunately, knowing this did little to keep you from feeling miserable.
It was early in the afternoon, and the members of My Chem, yourself included, were fruitlessly trying to kill time before soundcheck and stay out of the heat. Mikey, the most social of the band (despite what the fans seemed to think), was off in the festival grounds, probably hanging out with 1/4 of Fall Out Boy. Gerard and Frank were somewhere in the bus park, likely getting into trouble with some of the other bands. Trouble wasn’t hard to find on Warped. Ray was holed up in the studio in the back of the bus, trying to nail down a riff he had been working on for a few days. You were laying in your bunk, alternating between checking your Sidekick and trying to sleep. After about an hour, you were still bored as all hell.
“Ray,” you said, getting up and swinging open the studio door. “Take a break. I’m bored as fuck, and I want company.”
Ray sighed and took off his headphones. “Do I have to? It’s hot as fuck out, and I’d rather not be dragged into whatever the fuck it is that Frank and Gerard are doing.”
“Fine, we don’t have to leave the bus. What about horror movies, and I don’t fucking know, pizza? Or something,” you conceded.
“Sounds fine with me. I’ve been wanting to have a Friday the 13th marathon.”
“You know none of them are as good as the first,” you grinned. “I’ll call up some pizza.”
After the couch had been (mostly) cleared and pizza from a festival vendor had been delivered directly to the bus (bless Warped security), you and Ray sprawled out on opposite ends of the lounge sofa and pressed play. When the lights were turned off and the AC was at full blast, the tour bus was almost refreshing.
Halfway through Friday the 13th Part Two, the relative peace was disturbed by the bus door opening and a sudden influx of noise, light, humidity, and Frank.
“What the fuck happened to you?” you asked, unimpressed.
“Water guns,” Frank bounced down the aisle towards the bunks. He reappeared moments later, toweling dry his soaked hair and bare chest. He grabbed a blue Gatorade from the mini-fridge at the front, gulping it down. “Joe’s idea.”
You considered this, mildly surprised that the water didn’t evaporate the moment it touched the pavement. “Sounds fun.”
“It was. Hey, is that Jason?” Frank, still shirtless, flung himself facedown across both your and Ray’s laps.
“Dude, if you’re not gonna blow me, get your face outta my lap,” Ray said, looking unimpressed.
“Are you offering, Toro?” Frank turned his head and grinned.
Ray punched him in the head.
Lightly, of course.
The conversation lapsed into comfortable silence as the movie played on, you and Ray eating pizza and ignoring Frank’s occasional squirming.
After finishing the third movie, Ray stood up, jostling Frank, and stretched. “This has been fun,” he sighed. “But I think it’s time to go round up Mikeyway before it’s too late for soundcheck.”
“See you there, then,” you nodded. Frank saluted him.
A few minutes after the bus door had closed, Frank sat up and turned to face you. Knowing what he wanted (it had happened a few times before), you took a quiet breath before turning and meeting his eyes.
He said nothing, just studying your expression with the ghost of a smirk on his face.
Just when the tension was getting ridiculous, Frank slowly leaned in and pressed his lips against yours. You felt yourself relax into the kiss, your eyes sliding shut as he slowly pushed his tongue into your mouth. Your hand rested on the back of his neck, your fingers slowly stroking through his short, bleached hair. He moved one hand up from your waist to curve up along your chest, making small, gentle movements with his fingers.
Just as things were really starting to heat up, the bus door opened yet again, this time for Gerard. You jumped back from Frank, praying that the singer hadn’t seen. Luckily, it seemed like Gerard was still adjusting to the sudden darkness and couldn’t see much of anything.
“Hey, where the fuck is my sketchbook? I wanna show the guys from Simple Plan,” he frowned, glancing at the dining table.
“Uh, if it’s not there, it’s probably in your bunk,” you suggested when you had recovered from the shock.
“Thanks. Hey, is that Friday the 13th?” Gerard was already sprinting towards the back.
Frank leaned back into the couch and laughed. “You should have seen your face, holy shit.”
“Shut the fuck up or see if it ever happens again,” you muttered, going red as you turned back to the movie.
Deep down, you both knew it didn’t matter if Frank made fun of you until the cows came home. Whatever “it” was had happened several times before and was most definitely going to happen again. There wasn’t really a name for the strange platonic-yet-romantic attraction between you and Frank, but honestly, you didn’t care. Maybe it would fade at the end of the summer, along with all the sunburns and hazy tour memories. Maybe it would grow into something more, something solid. After all, it was Warped Tour. Stranger things have happened.

Take it Slow - Part Seven
a/n: okay this is my first shot at a harry:y/n fic, and it will be multiple parts. y/n had a bad experience with an ex over a year ago, and finally accepts her coworker and good friend Niall’s invitation to go on a blind date with his friend Harry.
(Dialogue heavy part. Also, I plan to make a masterpost with a link in my description so all the parts are easy to find in one place, and I can keep adding to it.)
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Six
Harry spent most of the day with you Sunday, and went back to his place a little before dinner time. You woke up early Monday so you could get your workout in at home, and showered. Feeling fresh, you were thankful you had plenty of slacks to wear for the week. You hated wearing skirts or dresses on your period. You couldn’t wait to see Niall to ask him about Sarah.
You stop at the coffee shop and grab yours and Niall’s coffees. You get up to your office, and go right to his. He’s just settling in, and smiles at you.
“Hey there, lady killer.” You said handing him his coffee.
“Shh.” He looks around and closes his door. “Did she tell you anything?”
“She said she had a great time with you. Have you texted or called?”
“We’ve texted. I could kill you for not setting me up sooner.”
“I could say the same thing to you about Harry.”
“Fine, we’re even.”
“Besides, she was in between guys, I didn’t even know she was available. She raved about you, so I hope you guys see where it goes.”
“I’m hoping to see her Tuesday after work for a movie.”
“Oh, nice.” You smile at your friend. “You know if it goes well, the four of us could go on double dates, how much fun would that be?”
“Not so much.” Your face falls.
“Why not? I feel like we never hang out anymore.”
“Well, you’ve been busy, which is perfectly fine. And, I don’t really like double dates with Harry. I feel like I have to compete with him or something.” He shrugs, sipping his coffee.
“Compete with what?”
“I don’t know, everyone finds him so charming.”
“Well, it doesn’t matter now. Sarah may decide the only thing she likes about you is your tongue.” You tease. Niall nearly chokes on his hot drink.
“She, she told you?”
“Only a couple of details.” You lie, you didn’t want to embarrass him. “It was all good things though, she was very impressed.”
“I honestly have to thank Harry for help in that department.”
“So I’ve learned.” You say blushing.
“Hold on a second.” He sits down next to you in the chairs across from desk. “Did you two get a little frisky this weekend?”
“Maybe a little.” You play with the top of your coffee lid.
“How do you feel?”
“Safe.” You lock eyes with him. “I only let him do…that. I didn’t let him use his hands or anything.”
“What made you want to do it?”
“Honestly, I was curious.” You shrug. “And I was just feeling really close to him. He, um, asked me to be his girlfriend.” Niall jumps up with a huge smile on his face.
“That just made my whole morning!”
“You don’t think it’s too soon to be official?”
“Not at all, in fact, Harry hasn’t had an actual girlfriend in like two years. He really does like you, (y/n).” You can’t help but giggle at his praise. “You haven’t changed your relationship status.” He says checking Facebook.
“I honestly hadn’t thought of it since he doesn’t have a Facebook.” You say getting up. “I’ll ask him if he minds if I change it.”
“Why would he mind?”
“I don’t know, then it’ll like really be official. Everyone will know I’m seeing someone. I don’t know if I’m ready for my parents and siblings to be up my ass.”
“Fair point. Okay, I’ll tell you what, things go well with Sarah, and all four of us can hang out some time.”
“I would love that.”
You go to your office, and get some work done. Lunch rolls around quick. Before you can go meet Niall you see a name on your phone. It’s Kate.
“Hello?”
“Hey, (y/n).”
“Um, what’s up?”
“Nothing, just saw the pictures Rachel posted of the three of you. Thanks for the invite.”
“You wouldn’t have come anyways.”
“So, it’s still nice to be included.”
“Well, I wasn’t the one who made the plans, so take it up with them.”
“You’re my best friend, you should’ve texted me.”
“Kate, I’m at work.”
“You’re on your lunch break.” There’s an awkward pause. “Why didn’t you tell me you were seeing someone new?”
“Because it’s still really new.”
“Still, I hate hearing things from other people about you.”
“Who told you?”
“Rachel. She said some guy showed up to the club, and his friend took Sarah home or something. Apparently he’s super-hot.”
“You’ve met Niall before. Remember? He came with me to your wedding?”
“No, I mean the guy you brought.”
“His name is Harry.”
“Harry what?”
“Don’t bother looking him up, he doesn’t have a Facebook, and his Instagram doesn’t have any pictures of him.”
“Great, so you’re seeing a serial killer.”
“You could be happy for me. He’s really into me.”
“I just think you need to be more cautious.”
“I am. We haven’t done anything…serious.”
“Define serious.”
“I don’t owe you any explanations.” Usually, you and your friends were very open about sex, but lately it was hard to talk to Kate about these things.
“(y/n), you were practically ra-“ You cut her off before she could finish the word.
“Stop it! Harry is nothing like Jake!” Niall walks into your office horrified. You wave him in, and put your finger up to signal you’re almost done. “Kate, I’m not doing this with you right now.”
“Fine. Look, Kevin and I are spending the weekend in the city, and we were wondering if you’d wanna hang out. Maybe the four of us can do a double date.”
“You know, it would be nice if just us girls could get together. You never come here alone.”
“You know how Kev is.”
“Possessive, controlling.”
“Enough. Do you want to see each other or not?”
“Of course I do. I’ll see what Harry’s up to. When did you want to get together?”
“Friday night? Dinner at our spot?”
“Alright, I’ll text you later, I need to go eat.” You hang up in a huff and nearly throw your phone across the room, but you stop yourself. You look at Niall.
“Was that Kate?”
“Yeah! God, she is so fucking infuriating. She has no problem making me feel bad about my past, but the second I call her out on something.” You try to steady tour breathing. “And now I have to see her this weekend.”
“You don’t have to.”
“I miss her, Niall. She used to be so much fun.”
“Well, if you bring Harry, just be prepared, he’s not going to let someone speak to you like that.”
“Great, dinner and a show.”
You show up to Harry’s after the gym. You drive there sort of on autopilot. You let him know you’re outside, and he buzzes you in. You have an open sweatshirt on over a sports bra. Your hair is up in a messy bun, and you’re wearing cropped leggings. You only went to lift weights since you got your cardio in this morning.
“This is a nice surprise.” He says kissing you on the cheek. He makes you stand in front of him to get a good look at you. “Sexy outfit.” Your cheeks flush. “Want something to eat? I was just making dinner.”
“I don’t want to impose, love.”
“S’not an imposition.” He smiles. “ I always make extra.” You walk over to the stove to see what he’s making. “Nothing special, just roasted chickpeas to top my salad.”
“It smells delicious. I’ll have a little.”
“Good, go sit.” He makes a plate for you, and sits down at the table with you. “So, what do I owe this honor on a school night?” You giggle.
“Well, I got a call from my friend Kate today.”
“The one you miss who’s married?”
“Correct.” He nods. “Her and Kevin, her husband, are coming into town this weekend, and she wanted to know if we’d have dinner with them.”
“We huh?”
“Mhm.”
“I didn’t even have a chance to tell her about you. Rachel told her I was seeing someone.”
“What night?”
“Friday.” He takes out his phone and checks his calendar. “Um, yeah that works. I have to work late that night, so if they’re okay with an eight o’clock dinner…”
“That would work well I think. I’m sure they’ll hit traffic. The place we’re going is kind of swanky, so you may want to bring a change of dress clothes with you to work.”
“Alright.”
“Is this okay with you? If you don’t feel comfortable-“ He puts a hand over yours.
“I would love nothing more than to meet more of your friends. Plus, she seems important to you.” He shrugs.
“I have another question?”
“Shoot.”
“So, we’re together.”
“Correct.”
“And typically, when two people make things official, it’s customary for them to change their status online, to let others know they are no longer available.”
“Are you asking me if it’s okay to change your Facebook status?” You smile nervously and he starts laughing. “Go ahead, baby. I mean, s’not like you can tag me in it, so it’ll just say you’re in a relationship.”
“I know, it seems silly. But now that Kate knows, and Sarah and Rachel…I mean, god I haven’t even told my mom.” He furrows his eyebrows at you.
“So wait to change then.” He takes his phone out. He goes into Instagram, and you get a ping on your phone. “style2294 has requested to follow you?” You smile at him.
“That’s my private Instagram. Told ya it wasn’t really under my name.”
“Very cryptic that you left it as style and not styles. Is that your birthday?” You ask, accepting the request, and follow him back. He accepts.
“Yup.”
“That’s around my half birthday.”
“Wait, don’t tell me.” He thinks for a moment. “August?”
“Bingo.”
“What’s the date?”
“The fourth, ’95.”
“So you like just turned twenty-four only a couple months ago. You young thing.” He teases.
“Oh stop, you’re literally a year and half older than me.” You go to scroll through his pictures, but he stops you.
“Wait to do that until we’re not together, please, some of those pictures are old, and embarrassing.”
“Alright.” You stop to think about your own photos. “I have some embarrassing ones too.”
“I’ll bet.”
“So, Friday, you’re sure?”
“Positive.” He takes both of your empty plates and places them in the sink. “Now then, come here so I can kiss ya.”
You go over to him, and he holds you in his arms, and kisses your cheecks, nose, forehead, and jawline. His hands move down to your bum, and you jump back with a squeak.
“Still got my period.” He gives you a funny look.
“So that means I can’t squeeze that glorious-“ You put your hand over his mouth.
“Please, I’m begging, don’t finish that sentence.” You say looking up at him with big eyes. He smirks at you. “What?”
“Lil horny are we?”
“Harry!”
“You are, aren’t you?”
“It’s not funny!”
“I’m not laughing!”
“Your smile says it all.” You cross your arms over your tender breasts. “It’s the hormones.”
“Sure it is. How were your cramps today?”
“Much better. What you saw yesterday was an anomaly.” You look down at your watch. “I should probably head home now.”
“I’m going to be really busy this week. With the weather still nice, and the leaves just turning, I’ve racked up some freelance stuff. I don’t want you to think I’m ignorin’ ya or anything.” You give me a hug and rest your head on his chest.
“Thank you for letting me know.” You kiss him on the cheek. As you’re about to break the hug he pulls you in, and kisses you on the mouth.
“Didn’t think I’d let ya leave with just a peck on the cheek?”
“What was I thinking?” You kiss him again. “Thanks for dinner.” You say on your way out.
Your period ends Thursday, thank god. Kate texts you saying that eight is perfectly fine for dinner Friday. You and Niall find yourself chatting before you leave for work Friday.
“You never told me how the movie with Sarah went.”
“We never made it to the movie.” He winks at you.
“You dirty dog.” You tease.
“So, tonight is your big double date?”
“Yup, I gotta go home and change.”
“Where are you guys going again? That Italian place?”
“Yeah, it’s really nice. Kate and I used to save up our money once a month to go there when we were in college.”
“Well, I hope it all goes smoothly. I know Harry will be there, but if you need anything, I’m there for you.”
“Thank you, I appreciate that. I’m seeing Sarah and Rachel with Kate and Kevin tomorrow.”
“Yeah, Sarah told me. I’m seeing her tonight.”
“Dirty, dirty dog.”
You go home, and freshen up. You pull out a red dress. It has a high neckline, but hugs tight around your thighs, accentuating your bum. You know Harry will love it, and Kate won’t be able to say anything because your chest is covered. The back is open, so you opt to not wear a bra. Instead you just tape yourself up. The material is thick enough that you can’t see your piercings through it. You curl your hair and brush it out to create your waves. You put on some red strappy heels, and uber to the restaurant. You want to be able to leave with Harry in his car later.
Kate and Kevin are standing in the lobby of the restaurant, it’s ten of eight. You two smile at each other and take each other in for a big hug. You give Kevin a much smaller embrace.
“You look amazing!” Kate beams at you. “That gym membership is doing wonders for you.”
“The best part is my company pays for it. I think laying off the meat has helped too. I mostly am forced to eat fruit and veggies.” You hear Kevin scoff.
“I still can’t believe you’re a vegetarian. It’s like you crossed over to the darkside.” You flip him off, and he rolls his eyes.
“Harry’s a vegan, and I don’t want you making fun of him.”
“What the hell is he supposed to eat here then?”
“He’ll get some gluten free pasta and a salad or something.” You shrug.
“Where is he anyways?” Kate asks.
“It’s only eight now. He said he might run late, he had a really busy work week.”
“What does he do?” Kevin asks.
“He’s a photographer, a highly sought after one at that.” The two look at each other. “He works for a magazine, and does some freelancing on the side.” You take your phone out to show them his professional Instagram.
“Wow, these are actually really good.” Kate says.
“Don’t sound so surprised. Niall wouldn’t have set me up with some idiot.”
“Oh, you two met on a blind date?” Kevin asks. “Kate didn’t tell me the story.”
“That’s because she didn’t tell me the story.”
“Well, you can both hear it soon, when he gets here.”
“I hope it is soon, I don’t want them to give our table up.” Kate says harshly.
You feel a gust of wind, and turn around. Suddenly everything feels like slow motion. Harry walks in with damp hair, accentuating his natural curls. He’s wearing a light blue suit and a white dress shirt. He has brown dress shoes on. He looks heavenly.
“That’s him.” You say to Kate before walking over to greet him. He takes you in his arms, and kisses the top of your head.
“So sorry I’m wait, love, I had to have a shower. I was rolling in dirt all day.” He looks over at Kate and Kevin whose mouths are hanging open. “Hi, I’m Harry.” He sticks his hand out and they each take a turn shaking it. They both furrow their brows at his nails. He must have gotten them done this week because they were now a pastel pink and blue. His forefinger and middle finger were both pink on one hand and the rest blue. The opposite hand had the same, but opposite. He notices them notice. “Right, shall we?”
You all go to the hostess, and she seats you. Harry pulls your chair out for you, and helps you in. He takes his suit jacket off, and puts it over the chair. Kevin and Kate just sit down. You put your hand on Harry’s leg and give him a gentle squeeze.
“It’s great to meet you, Harry.” Kate finally says.
“Likewise.” A waiter comes over before anything else can be said.
“Hi folks, I’m Matt, and I’ll be your server tonight. Can I start you all off with a drink?”
“Vodka tonic for me please.” You say.
“Lime?”
“Yes, please.”
“I’ll have a glass of pinot noir.” Kate says. You frown for a second. She’s drinking, which means she’s still not pregnant.
“I’ll have a corona.” Kevin says.
“I’ll, um, have a gin and tonic.” Harry says.
“Perfect, be back with those in a few.”
Harry squints at the menu trying to see what he can actually eat. Another server brings over some bread and butter, and fills the water glasses. Harry leans into you.
“You look lovely, by the way.” You giggle.
“Thank you.”
“What are you going to eat?”
“Not sure yet. Maybe some ravioli?”
“So, Harry, (y/n), tells us you’re a vegan?” Kevin asks.
“Um, yeah.”
“If we had known we could have gone somewhere else.” Kate says, trying to make you look bad.
“It’s really no problem. There’s actually a lot I can have. They have zucchini noodles it seems. I’ll probably have that.”
“Don’t you feel hungry all the time without the protein?” Kevin asks.
“Not really, I eat a lot of nuts and beans.”
The waiter comes over with the drinks. He notices Harry’s nails.
“Oh, sir, I don’t mean to sound weird, but I love your nails.”
“Oh, thanks mate.” Harry smiles up at the young boy.
“So, um, did we have a chance to look over the menu?” Everyone nods. “Great, miss?” He nods to you.
“Can I please have the cheese ravioli, and can I have a side of whatever today’s vegetable is?”
“Of course. Sir?”
“I’ll have these zoodles with the roasted vegetables on top. No sauce, please.”
Kevin orders steak tips of course, which nearly makes you gag. Kate orders the raviolis as well. The two of them dig into the bread, and you also have a piece.
“Since the waiter brought it up, can I ask why you paint your nails?” Kevin asks. You want to kick him under the table, but glare at him instead.
“Just something I do for fun.” Harry shrugs. “I’m sure as an oral surgeon, you’re probably not allowed to have yours painted.”
“Even if I could, I wouldn’t. It’s a little girly.”
“Kevin.” You say, warning.
“S’alright.” Harry says. “I know it looks a little weird. But, I don’t necessarily think it’s girly. I like having clean nails. Why should women be the only people allowed to have a manicure?” He sips his drink.
“You can get a manicure without getting your nails painted.” Kate interjects.
“What’s the fun in that?” Kate looks down at his hands.
“The rings are nice.” She says.
“Thanks.”
“Is that an anchor on your wrist?” Kevin asks.
“Yup.” Harry rolls his sleeve a bit so they can better see it. “Can’t remember when exactly I got it, but it was a while ago.” Kate sees the cross on his hand.
“(y/n) is Jewish, you know?” Harry raises an eyebrow at her, then looks at you. “We all are, that’s how we became friends at school.”
“I didn’t know that.” He says looking at you, and smiles. “Guess the mezuzah in your front hall makes more sense now.”
“You didn’t tell him?”
“It didn’t come up, Kate.”
“Alright, so, how exactly did you two meet?” Kevin interjects.
“We have a mutual friend that set us up.” Harry rests a hand on your thigh.
“Niall, right?” Kate asks. “He came to our wedding with (y/n).”
“Yup, Niall. He and I were mates in school, and he works with (y/n), obviously.”
“What did you do for a first date?” Kevin asks.
“We went to dinner at that tapas place.” You say, smiling at the memory. “And then after that we just kept seeing each other.” You lean close to him.
The food runner brings all of your plates over. You stare at the steak tips. They smell heavenly, but as soon as you see the juices drip down Kevin’s knife, you find yourself standing up.
“You alright?” Harry asks, slightly standing.
“Yeah, just, um, excuse me, I need to use the ladies room.”
“I’ll go with you.” Kate says standing up.
You two rush to the bathroom, and you splash a little cold water on your face.
“What’s wrong?” She rubs your now clammy back.
“Nothing, I thought I was going to puke. He had to order steak tips?”
“I thought you weren’t an ethical vegetarian.”
“I’m not, Kate, but jesus, I can’t help being absolutely disgusted.”
“Is this because Jake ate steak on your first date? Is it triggering?”
“No! You mentioning his fucking name is triggering.” You turn to face her. “You both could also stop grilling Harry so much. He’s really sweet and you both are judging him. Nail polish on men is becoming more and more popular, it’s really not that fucking weird.” She sighs.
“You’re right, we’ve been rude. I’ll settle down a little. Just please come back and try not to look at his food.”
While you both are in the bathroom, Harry and Kevin wait to eat.
“I hope she’s alright.” Harry keeps his eyes locked on the direction you ran in.
“She’s fine. So, how long have you two been seeing each other?”
“It’s been a month this weekend, actually.”
“I think that’s the longest she’s ever seen someone.” He laughs. “She was pretty wild in college.”
“Who wasn’t?” Harry shrugs off the statement, taking a sip of his drink. He sighs in relief when he sees you walking back to the table, and stands up. Kevin stays seated. “Alright?” He says sitting back down as you do.
“Yeah, just needed to powder my nose.” You keep your eyes locked on your food. Everyone digs in to their own.
“(y/n), I was thinking we could all go back to your place tonight after dinner.” Kate says. “That way we can keep getting to know each other.” She says with a smile.
“Um, sure, we could do that.” You look up at Harry who is giving Kate a funny look. “Does that work for you?”
“Sure does.” He smiles at you.
The waiter comes over and asks if anyone wants dessert, you all say no, and he leaves the check. Harry and Kevin reach for it at the same time.
“Your money’s no good here.” Kevin says. “We asked you both here.” You guess all men have this rule.
“I insist, at least let me split it with you.”
“Sure, we can split it.” They each put their credit cards in, and the wait come by and grabs it. He brings it back in no time, they both sign the slips. Harry leaves some extra cash on the table.
“Where’d you park, love?” He asks putting his jacket on.
“Oh, I didn’t drive here, I took an uber. I figured I’d just leave with you.” You shrug. He smiles and kisses you on the cheek. “Right, so we’ll just meet you guys at her place?”
“Sounds good, see you soon.” Kate says.
You and Harry don’t say much on the car ride to your place. Once you’re inside, you quickly tidy up. He sighs.
“What?” You ask, as you run around.
“Kinda rude to invite herself here, don’t you think?”
“That’s Kate.” You pull up a playlist on your Spotify, and connect it to your Bluetooth. “It’s a late 2000s playlist, should help lighten the mood.” You say, taking your heels off. “They won’t stay long anyways.”
“Kevin is, interesting.”
“He used to be more fun too.”
“He mentioned you used to be wild.” Harry puts his hands on your waist. His touch burns into you. “This is a really nice dress.”
“Thank you, and he’s just talking smack. I did used to party probably a little too much. But who doesn’t when they’re in college?”
“That’s what I said.” The buzzer goes off, and you buzz them in.
“Harry, could you open that bottle of wine for me please?” You ask pointing to the one in the kitchen, as you go to open the door.
“I love what you’ve done with the place.” Kate beams at you. “You really should be an interior decorator.”
“Oh stop, you know my Nannie picked everything out.”
“Nannie?” Harry asks.
“My grandmother, I call her Nannie.” You say giving him a peck on the cheek. “You guys want some wine?” You take out four glasses.
“Yes, please.” Kate says. You pour the wine into the glasses.
Kate and Kevin sit on the couch. Harry sits in the large chair adjacent to the couch, and you sit on the arm rest of the chair. He takes his arm, and moves you to sit on his lap. You giggle, and make yourself comfortable.
“So, how did you all meet?” Harry asks.
“Oh god, well (y/n) and I met at an activities fair. We both were looking for a film club.” Kate says. “I think you and Rachel were roommates freshman year right?”
“Yup. Then we met Sarah at that Jewish students meeting, that school had a club for everything. You and I roomed together sophomore year.”
“Awe that was such a good year. Then the four of us lived together our last two years. We met Kev our junior year.”
“And when did you two start dating?”
“Mid-way through our senior year.” She squeezes his hand. Kevin smiles at Kate.
“Yup, and then I stole her away.”
“That’s an understatement.” You say, sipping your wine.
“Excuse me?” Kevin says.
“Nothing, we just barely saw Kate after. You two stopped hanging out with us.” You shrug.
“We were busy.” Kevin says with a smirk.
“Kev, please, don’t flatter yourself.” Kate says, teasing. “You know we had a lot of classes together second semester, we were studying together a lot.”
“You practically moved out of our apartment.” Harry taps his hand on your thigh to the beat of the song playing, and you lean back further into him.
“I’m surprised you didn’t notice, with how little you slept there.” You shoot daggers at her. “And at least I was staying with the same person every night, not just throwing it around for anyone who would take it.” She takes a large sip of her wine.
“That’s because you got all of that out of your system your freshman year, remember?”
“I do remember, I remember you saying how jealous you were of me.”
“Little did I know there wasn’t much to be jealous of. You’re still bitter that Eric stopped seeing you because he wanted to see me.” You take an even bigger sip of your wine.
“Really? You’re bringing up Eric?”
“You started it.”
“Well, at least I never got an STD!” You stand up and so does Kate. The guys just look at the two of you.
“Kate! For the last time, I did not get scabies from sleeping with someone!”
“Oh no? Then you how else do you get scabies?”
“I don’t know, but I didn’t sleep with any dirty guys.”
“Are you sure? Sophomore year you fucked anything with a dick! And you wanna know why we stopped hanging out with the three of you that last year? I told Kev how you felt about him, and he didn’t want to be around you anymore.”
“How I felt about him?” You point at Kevin. “I didn’t have feelings for Kevin, fuck Kevin.”
“Yes you did, you told Sarah that you wanted to fuck him, and you knew I liked him!”
“Well good fucking thing you married him, Kate! And I never told Sarah that, I never wanted to fuck your fucking boyfriend.”
“Then why would she have told me you did?”
“She was probably talking about Kevin from the track team. Did she tell you when she was drunk? She probably got confused. And just like always, instead of you just talking to me about an issue, you let it blow up for no fucking reason.”
“What do you mean like always?”
“You always make mountains out of mole hills, and you always think you know better than everyone else. Guess what, just because you’re married doesn’t make you any better than me.”
“There it is, you’re jealous that I’m living the life that you want.”
“What is there to be jealous of? You never have any fun, Kevin never fucking lets you go out!”
“Stop it.”
“You’re afraid of him, right? You’re afraid he’ll leave you? Personally, I think you could’ve done a lot better than him, but you needed the security right? You’re lonely, and you get mad at us for actually having lives. I didn’t tell you to run off with him, and buy a big fucking house. No one had a gun to your head, you made your choices.”
“Would you shut up!? You’re making me sound like I’m this idiot that can’t make a life for myself. Kevin and I love each other, and you’re just jealous of that because you can’t stand to see a married couple happy.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
“Ever since your parents separated you haven’t been able to stand the thought of marriage! I think you’re mad at yourself, you’re a slut, just like your mom!” You’re about to raise your hand to Kate, but Harry grabs your wrist.
“Alright”, he turns the music off. “I think that’s about enough of that.”
“Who are you?” She says to him.
“Kate, he’s right, you went too far.” Kevin says standing up.
“I won’t sit here and listen to you talk to my girlfriend like that.”
“Girlfriend? You two just started seeing each other!” She looks at you. “You said you were going to take it slow this time.”
“I did, we are!”
“Then how is he already your boyfriend, Jesus Christ, you are so fucking stupid! You trust people way too easily.” She shakes her head at you. Your blood is boiling, and you go to lunge at her, but Harry wraps his arms around you and holds you back. “Go ahead, let her hit me, it’s what she wants.”
“I think it’s time for you both to leave.” Harry says, still holding onto your shaking body. You steady your breathing, and tap his hands.
“You know something Kate, I know what you’re really mad about.” You smirk.
“What’s that?”
“You’re not actually angry with me, you’re angry at the fact that you married a guy that hasn’t been able to make you orgasm since you met.”
“Woah, what?” Kevin interjects. Kate’s mouth falls open.
“Speechless? That’s a first.”
You don’t register what’s happening until you feel Kate’s hand connect with your cheek. Harry steps in front of you.
“You need to get the fuck out now.” He says to her with dark eyes. You’re holding you’re stinging cheek.
“Have fun with your fru fru boyfriend, and his photos and his painted nails. Let’s see how long this one lasts.”
You don’t say anything, Harry follows them out. He comes back to you, tears streaming down your cheeks. You can barely breathe, your mascara starts to sting your eyes, and you can feel your cheek swelling. Harry crosses the room, he goes to touch you, but you flinch away from him.
“I’m so sorry all that happened. I should have interjected sooner, but it just seemed like you two needed to get something out.”
“It’s not your fault.” You say with a crack in your voice. “She’s just a bitch, and I should have stopped talking to her a long fucking time ago.” You press your fingers slowly to your cheek. “Fuck.”
“Let me get you some ice, go sit on the couch.” You do as he says. He pulls some ice out of your freezer and puts it in a baggy, then wraps it in a towel. He sits next you, and lightly dabs your face.
“Thanks.” You sniffle.
“She’s not worth your tears, love.” He takes his thumb and wipes just under your good eye. You lean into his touch.
“Baby?”
“Mm?”
“Will you please take me to bed?” He smiles and nods.
He scoops you up in his arms, and carries you to your room. He gently sets you down on the bed. He goes over to your bureau, and pulls out a t-shirt and shorts for you.
“I’m just gonna go down to my car. I, uh, packed an overnight bag just in case.” You nod.
You go into the bathroom, and wash your face, your cheek is still sore, but it shouldn’t leave a mark. You didn’t want anyone thinking Harry hit you. You change, and grab your phone. You sit down at your desk, and you call Rachel, knowing Sarah is with Niall.
“Hey girl.” She says to you.
“Kate fucking slapped me.”
“What?!”
“That bitch fucking slapped me!” Harry walks into your room, and starts to change in front of you. You can’t help but watch while you talk to your friend.
“Why? What happened?”
“She started a fight with me…I know I added fuel the fire, but she called myself and my mom a whore, so I blurted out that Kevin can’t fuck her right, and she slapped me.”
“Jesus, and she did this in front of Harry?”
“Of course she did!”
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, it just stings a little, she slapped me with one of her rings on.”
“Well, you know how she likes it rough.” You and Rachel burst out laughing.
“Oh yeah, she a freak.” You stifle your laughter, as Harry gives you a very confused look. He looks heavenly in his grey sweat pants.
“So, I’m assuming we’re not all hanging out tomorrow?”
“I’m not seeing her again.”
“Alright, maybe Sarah and I could come by to see you then. You know Kate is going to twist this whole thing around. I’m glad you called to tell me first.”
“Me too. It’s sad how much she’s changed.”
“I think if she just left Kevin she would be so much happier. They’re not a good match.”
“We tried to tell her, Rach.”
“But mother knows best.” Rachel groans. “Is Harry still with you?”
“Mhm.”
“Alright, then go be with your man. I’ll text you tomorrow to see when we should come by. Probably in the afternoon. Sarah is with your friend again tonight.”
“Oh, I know. And sounds good, talk to you tomorrow.” You hang up the phone, and look at the man sitting at the edge of the bed.
“What was so funny?”
“Nothing, Rachel just reminded me of something that Kate likes.” You shrug.  You stand up and walk over to him until you’re standing between his legs.
“Do you wanna just go to bed? I’m sure you’re exhausted.”
“Yeah, would you cuddle me?”
“Do you even need to ask?”
You both get cozy under the covers, and he spoons you nice and close to him. You wiggle your bum against him a couple of time, and he adjusts himself.
“If you keep moving against me like that, we’re going to have a problem.” He says into your ear. He starts laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, I just can’t believe she slapped you.” You start laughing with him.
“She’s an idiot.” He hugs you closer to him, and nestles in your hair. You both slowly drift off into sleep.
Early that morning, you hear your name being called by a familiar voice. Harry jolts awake and you look at each other.
“How many friends of yours have a key to this apartment?” He asks getting up.
“Too many.” You hide under the covers. “Make her go away.” He gets up, and leaves the room.
Kate looks much different from last night. She’s in sweats, her hair in a messy bun, and no makeup. She looks up at Harry. Her eyes are swollen and red, probably from crying. He crosses his arms when he looks back at her.
“I really don’t think she wants to see you.”
“I just need to talk with her privately. I need to apologize, I can’t lose her.”
“Seems like you lost her a long time ago.” She sighs and stands up. She starts to walk to toward your room, but he stands in her way.
“Move.”
“No.”
“You don’t get to decide who she speaks to.”
“You’re right, but she did ask me to make you leave. And you should probably leave that key on the counter on your way out.” Kate brushes past Harry, and she bursts into your room. She closes the door quickly behind him and she locks it.
“Harry!”
“She locked the door!” He yells. You get out of bed, and stand with your arms crossed.
“I have some explaining to do. I acted like a psycho last night.” You roll your eyes at her. “I suppose I was just taking all of my frustrations out on you.”
“Like you always do. I can’t be your punching bag.”
“I know that. I’m so sorry. Kevin and I stopped trying to get pregnant, and I haven’t wanted him to touch me. I may have lied about him not being okay with me coming to visit you guys.”
“What do you mean?” You both sit on the bed.
“Well, I made it all up. The truth was, it hurt to hang out. I was jealous of your lives. My parents pressured me into staying with him, and I stupidly listened. I love him, I do, but there’s no passion. Not like there was. We’re, um, going to separate for a while.” She chokes back a few tears. “I don’t expect you to feel bad for me, because honestly I deserve everything bad that has happened to me.”
“You don’t deserve to be unhappy, Kate.”
“Yes, I do. I’ve been having an affair for the last month. I told Kevin last night.”
“Oh my god, with who?”
“One of his colleagues.” She says looking down. “I was always attracted to him, and one night we met up and just fucked, all night. It was incredible. He, um, likes the same things that I do.” Her cheeks grow red.
“Where are you gonna go?”
“Kev’s gonna sublet an apartment closer to the hospital so I can stay in the house. At least until we figure everything out. We’re probably going to get divorced.”
“What did he say when you told him about the affair?”
“Well, he asked why I would do that. And he asked how he could better satisfy me, and I told him what I was into, and he said he just didn’t feel comfortable with it, and I told him I knew that. He knows it was just a sex thing. We’re both still so young, and we don’t want to waste anymore of each other’s time.”
“What will you do?”
“Well, I’m almost done with my master’s degree, and once I have that I’ll start making more money so I’ll be able to move out. He said once I’m a month into my raise we’ll put the house on the market.”
“You figured all of this out last night?”
“Yeah, we were up all night talking. God, my parents are going to be pissed.”
“It’s not their life, Kate.”
“I know. Listen, I am so sorry I said that stuff about your mom, I never should have gone there.”
“I’m not going to say it’s okay, because it’s not.”
“Do you think we’ll be able to move on from this?”
“You assaulted me.”
“I really shouldn’t drink anymore. I’m sorry.”
“I’m going to need some time. I know I said some hurtful things to you too.”
“I told Rachel and Sarah what happened in a group text.”
“I called Rachel last night.”
“I cancelled our plans today. Kev is waiting in the car downstairs, I just wanted the chance to explain.”
“I appreciate you being honest.” You reach out and hug her. “I need some time to cool down from all this.”
“Okay.” She breaks your hug and stands up. “When will we talk next?”
“When I feel ready, I’ll call.” She nods. “Kate, I still care a lot about you, and I want to be there for you. But…”
“I made this mess, it’s time I cleaned it up.” She opens the door. Harry is leaning against the hall closet. “Thanks warden.” She says to him. She looks back at you, and then to him. “Treat her right, she’s special.” Kate leaves the apartment, and leaves the key on the counter like Harry said. Harry sits on the bed next to you.
“Good talk?”
“Sort of. Her and Kevin are going to separate. She’s been having an affair with another doctor for over a month.”
“I heard a little, why exactly did she stray from Kevin?”
“Kate, how do I put this, she likes to be a little rough when she has sex.”
“She likes to be rough, or she likes when someone is rough with her?”
“The second one. We all know about it, and promised not to say anything. At first she said she was just into like being tied up, you know little fantasies, but she’s into some really dark shit. Not to kink shame.” You say in defense. “People like what they like.”
“Define dark shit.”
“God, don’t make me say it.” You say a little embarrassed.
“What is it, a daddy kink?”
“Yeah, but like it’s more than that. She likes when a guy is like really dominant, like scary dominant. Like one time she came back from hooking up with this guy, and she showed us her butt and it was beat red, like it left this giant bruise. I guess he spanked her like ten times in a row or something. And then she told us that he like choked her and would spit in her mouth.” It sends a shiver up your spine. “Gross.”
“And Kevin wasn’t willing to do any of that with her?”
“Not really. He was scared of hurting her, which I completely understand. Ugh, this whole conversation has turned my stomach. Could you imagine spitting your own come into someone’s mouth?”
“Wait what?” He bursts out laughing.
“Some guy came inside of her, went down on her, licked it up, and spit it into her mouth and made her swallow it.”
“And she liked that?”
“Loved it!” You start laughing. “I really shouldn’t laugh, it’s not her fault she’s into that sorta thing. She just discovered it.”
“At first I thought you were just grossed out at like regular spitting, but I can see how that would gross you out. Even I wouldn’t do that.”
“What are you saying exactly?”
“Regular spit isn’t gross, you’re already swapping spit as it is.” He shrugs. You put a hand on his shoulder.
“I’m only going to say this once. Please, do not ever spit into my mouth.” He chuckles.
“You got it.” Your phone starts to buzz, it’s Sarah.
“(y/n), are you okay????”
“Yeah, Sarah, I’m fine.”
“I felt so bad, Rachel told me everything and I didn’t get Kate’s texts until a little while ago. Do you want us to come over?”
“No, I think I’d like to just hang out with Harry today. I’ve had my fill of girl time, but I’ll check in with you guys tomorrow.”
“Alright, sweetie. Talk soon.” You hang up, and fling your back on the bed and groan.
“I just want to turn my brain off!” You look at him, he’s smiling at you. “What?”
“You wanna spend the day with Harry huh?”
“Sorry, do you have other things you need to do?” You say apologetically.
“Nope, I just thought it was sweet.” He climbs on top of you, and you wrap your legs around him. “Let me distract you for a little while.” He says into your neck, and he starts to kiss you slowly.
“I really should take a shower.” He sighs, and gets off of you. You get up, and look at him confused. “Well?”
“Well what?” He raises an eyebrow.
“Aren’t you going to join me?”
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, I wanna be close with you.”
“You realize I’ll be naked, and you haven’t seen me yet.”
“But I’ve felt you. And who says I would even look?” You say playfully. “C’mon, come shower with me.”
He doesn’t hesitate, and gets up, following you into the bathroom.

Dear past me
Dear past me,
You’re in for one hell of my a ride, my dude — and as much as I would like to tell you that it’s a good one, I can’t.
Your life is going to be filled with more pain and heartache that one would argue is too much for any normal being to stand. You’re going to fall time and time again, and the person you want most to be the one to pick you back up won’t be there. Truth be told, you’re going to have to grow up, and you’re going to have to grow up FAST. Your whole world will change in just a matter of an hour; and everything about the world you once thought you knew so much about, will suddenly be different. Foreign, even. You will suddenly feel like the little boy you once were, running around and jumping off those monkey bars because you didn’t know how much the ground will hurt — just to fall down and start crying your eyes out because that shit hurt like a bitch.
I want to take a moment to tell you a few things, the first being: don’t take any part of life for granted. When your coach yells at you and tells you to do another sprint, don’t give him an attitude and just do that shit; that could be the last time you are able to run for a while. When your teacher desperately tries to do those corny group activities that are meant to hit deep into the soul, don’t make fun and take it seriously; those are the lessons that you’re going to take with you when you graduate. When that annoying english teacher gives you crap about the assignment you missed and causes you to sit out the next game, I’m not going to say don’t get mad because that’s hard to do, but try to understand where she’s coming from; turns out, she’s going to be the best teacher you’ve ever had, and you’ll one day realize she was just trying to look out for you and prepare you for the real world…and you’ll realize this when it’s too late.
And the biggest thing I want to say: when your parents want to do things together as a family, things you might find stupid like family game night or a trip to Dairy Queen, just do it, and stop fucking complaining about it; you don’t have that much more time to spend together as a unit. The Fantastic Four, they used to call us. When your sister wants to spend the whole day watching Harry Potter movies, you’re going to want to stab your eyes out with rusty nails, but still watch them — and actually pay attention; one day you’re going to watch them on your own and wish that you had remembered the fun facts she was so proud of knowing…the fun facts people like us don’t really care about. Enjoy your birthday, and enjoy celebrating it with your twin; one day, you’ll have the day all to yourself, and it won’t feel as great as you think it will. If anything, that’s the day you feel most alone, and long for the presence of your literal other half.
Savor each moment, William. Savor those Friday night lights out on the field. Savor the post-win dinners at the diner with your teammates and family. Savor all of the lessons that your teachers teach you, and ask lots and lots of questions about both school and life, especially the older ones — the know a lot, and they speak from experience. Savor those summer nights you spent with Grace and Sky making their lives a living hell and get them into as much trouble as you can — turns out, they’re your best friends, and the ones who will go to hell and back for you. Savor those family picnics and vacations…and savor your sisters sweet voice. Save every voicemail, video, anything you can so that voice doesn’t slip away into the depths of our memory. That’s going to be the sound that keeps you grounded whenever you feel like giving up.
There are days you’re going to absolutely hate everything and everyone, including yourself. There will be days where you pity yourself and assume that thing will be easier if you just give up. There will be days you don’t even want to be here anymore, because life is just too damn hard, painful, and lonely. Don’t ever give up, no matter what anyone tells you.
Because just as there are the bad days — and trust me, it seems like there are more bad than good — there are some days that are pretty bearable. You’re going to surprise yourself every single day with just how much you can do, and soon you’ll realize that although you’re broken, you’re a fucking survivor. Not a victim. A. Fucking. Survivor.
You’ll learn how to walk again, despite doctors telling you otherwise; walk, run, go on hikes — do everything you can, while you can. You’ll live out your sisters legacy by doing your absolute best in school, being kind to everyone around you, and living out her dreams of going to one of the top schools. And not only that, but you’ll be starting your second degree, when teachers in high school would’ve never even imagined you finishing off one. You won’t take shit from anyone, and you’ll put anyone and everyone in their place, but you’ll still have a bleeding heart for those who are dear to you. You’ll keep your cards close to your chest and won’t allow anyone to hurt you; nobody can hurt you as much as he hurt you.
You’re going to struggle, a lot. There will be times you’ll go days without a real meal, and there will be times you get absolutely no sleep, because campus security kicked you off campus and you saw a drug deal gone wrong on one of the side streets in downtown. You’ll have early morning just so you can shower and make yourself look like a decent human. You’ll live off of coffee, water, and protein bars. There will be days where you can only afford water and nothing else, but you’ll figure that shit out. You always do.
And remember this — 95% of people living on this earth would not be able to go through the shit you went through and make it out mentally sane or alive. You did that shit. Nobody else. You. Nobody will never be able to truly understand you, but you should be proud of the person you will become. Grace would.
You probably won’t read all of this, but I hope you take everything in when it’s happening. Because it’ll all be taken away from you, but you’ll be okay. You’re smiling and laughing a lot right now, and that smile will soon go away — but I hope you get it back soon. Now go bust your ass and get good grades without stealing Grace’s notes. Turns out, academic scholarships go a much longer way than athletic scholarships do.
Take care, number 12. There’s nothing in this world that can take you down.
With love,
The man who wished he knew better

Chapter 5
Another day in this hell, call high school. I honestly don’t know what is worst, the student freaking out because it’s the end of the year or the teachers freaking out because it’s the end of the year. Especially my history teacher, he thinks we’re all going to fail because he is scared that we will not see everything we have to learn. Poor Man.
Only three weeks were left until school finished and the exams are starting next week, so yeah, it’s normal everybody is scared. Me, I have nothing to be scared about. Except in sport I never had a grade below 90%, even below 95% is pretty rare… yeah… Everything is going to be great.
“Don’t you think Lyon will want to see your previous homework or exams to see why you don’t have good grades in math?” Rogue asked, when we were, of course alone, at our cafeteria’s table.
“I’ll just say that the teachers don’t give them back, some of them do.”
“Yeah, it seems pretty rare though, your plan is probably going to fail before school ends.”
“Hey!”
“What are you talking about?” Yukino asked, deposing her plate on the table, followed by the other idiot.
“Nothing at all.”
The, almost, cold tone of Rogue’s voice kept Yukino from asking anything else but Sting didn’t care at all, sadly for me.
“How can you talk about nothing? Something juicy?  Sting said, winking.”
“Nothing that concerns you if you prefer.”
“You’re no fun Rogue.”
Soon after, Minerva came accompanied by Rufus and Orga and sat with us. Orga and Sting just started to talk about football while Rufus was talking about the book he was reading at the moment with Rogue, sure it would interest my best friend. While the guys talked together, Minerva called us to talk about the most important thing for a girl in their high school year, which I totally forgot because I was too focused on anything but this.
“So girls got any dress for prom?”
“Prom?”
Yeah the stupid air head talking to you forgot about prom…
“Korimi Lockser, don’t tell me you fucking forgot about prom?!”
“Umm yeah…”
“How can’t you forget about prom? I didn’t organize the best after party ever for you to forget prom exist in the first place.”
“Well prom is not really my thing you know…”
“Well it’s the only time you will have one so be excited! I will make sure you have fun.”
“Please Minerva don’t bring alcohol at prom.” I laughed.
“Will see.” She said, winking at me. “So since you forgot prom existed that means you probably don’t have a dress, You Yuki, do you have one?”
“Umm... actually no, I don’t have one yet, I’ve tried finding one, but my sister always insists I wear hers, but it’s… Not really my style you know.” She said, blushing.
“Yeah, Sorano’s dress was pretty revealing… I don’t know how she got away with it.” I said, imagining what her sister looked like in her dress.
“She probably used it to her advantage, the principal is a pervert. So Girls this week-end and I don’t want to hear anything, I am taking you dress shopping!”
I groaned imagining what dress shopping with Minerva Orlando looked like, good things is that I’ll probably find a dress since she won’t not let me go until I found one. She will do anything  for me to I find one.
“Oh I just remembered, Yukino how was your date with this mysterious boy Friday?”
Yukino had a date too? Wait… THAT BITCH!
“STING EUCLIFFE YOU LITTLE BITCH, YOU HAD A DATE WITH YUKINO! That’s why you wouldn’t tell us!” I said, pointing an accusing finger in his direction.
Yukino turned bright red while Sting became stiff and was trying to find a way to escape, but Orga didn’t let him get up, laughing.
“Well you see…”
“You tried to corrupt my precious little Yukino?” Minerva asked, glaring at the other idiot.
“You see why I didn’t say anything? I didn’t want to be killed by you or Minerva! Rogue, help me!”
“I’m not helping you with anything Sting.”
“Guys, please, he didn’t do anything bad.” Yukino said, blushing. “We actually had a good time.”
Sting looks at us with a look that says « I am a good guy, why are you treating me like this ».  Keep telling yourself that.
“I wouldn’t do anything to Yukino, I like her too much for this, she is my friend!”
“Why did you bring our Yukino on a date Sting? I hope you behave like a gentleman.” said Rufus. “Because if I remember well, the last date you had was a disaster.”
“Thanks Rufus…” Sting said, glaring at him. “I took Yukino to a nice dinner and I asked her to be my date to prom.”
“You what?” I said, surprised. “I was pretty sure I will have harassed my cousin.”
“I only asked her to be my prom date, why is it so surprising?” Sting whined. “Korimi, you will either ask the guy you’ve been crushing on or you will go with Rogue. Minerva will never even let me ask her and I don’t want to die, so why go with a random girl when I have Yuki!”
“You can take her to prom Sting, but you hurt her, I’ll kill you and nobody will ever find your body, ever. I can’t even guarantee what will happen to it.”
“Yes ma’am!”
After lunch it was time for us to go to our math class, I’ll probably daydream about Lyon again. Prom… I can’t believe I forgot about this. I didn’t asked anyone to be my date and nobody did, I’ll probably go with Rogue like always, since people don’t believe a guy and a girl can be friends without falling in love, so they assumed I would do everything with Rogue. Oh wait!  Could I possibly ask Lyon to be my date? They probably don’t care who we bring don’t they? A lot of girls have boyfriends from other schools or older. No, I can’t do this, he will never agree to come. I should stop dreaming and concentrate on class. Seriously, why am I so obsessed with this guy?
***
Today Sting decided that I was going to their home and that I couldn’t say anything about this. Apparently my obsession over Lyon was unhealthy, I’ll like to say that it’s not but… it probably is.
“Honestly Korimi, I was not surprised when Juvia was running after Gray and doing every little thing to have is attention. But you? I am shocked, I didn’t think you would be like that, I am pretty sure you will soon do every little thing to have his attention too!”
Hahaha… If you knew Sting, if you knew…
“You know that he could be home and I am missing the chance to make him fall in love with me for hanging out with you? I can always go home.”
Seriously, what if he really is in my house and I am missing the chance to make him fall in love with me! I only have 3 weeks left! I was ready to text my sister to see if Lyon was with her but Sting grabbed me and put me on his shoulder like a potato bag.
“Sting put me down!”
“Oh no, I am not taking the chance of you running away to your house to see him, he’s probably not there anyway.”
“What makes you say that? He could be there for real.”
“You are just hoping he’ll be there, that’s all.”  Rogue said laughing at me.
“Anyway put me down stupid, I am not a doll!”
“Never.”
Sting started to run to his house with me on his shoulder and I swear it wasn’t cool. Since my school uniform is not really long, I am pretty sure that everyone saw my underwear.Sting ran pretty fast even with me on his shoulder, we arrived in a couple of minutes, Rogue followed, he didn’t really have the choice.
“What the fuck Sting.” We heard his father say, his voice probably coming from the garage. “Put Korimi down.”
“If I do this she’ll run away!”
“Well having you as a friend would make me run away too, now put her down.”
I love Weiss, you see not every Eucliffe are stupid. Sting groaned and put me down and the first thing I did was to punch him in the stomach. It seems to hurt, good.
“Korimi, can you tell why you are friends with my son again?”
“You see Weiss, if I wanted the best best friend in the world AKA Rogue, I have to endure Sting, they come in a pack of two, sadly.”
“Poor you.” Weisslogia said laughing. “Now, Rogue, your mother wants you to help her make dinner, Korimi you should stay.”
”How can I say no to Skya’s cooking? Even more if Rogue is helping.” I smile at him.
Maybe Sting is right one night without thinking about Lyon will be good, I’ m going crazy I swear.
