Look, I don’t know if you know this already, but... social media is kind of a vicious hellscape fraught with stans, receipts, clout-chasing, bullying, overall pettiness and the desperate need for validation. Think a digital Hunger Games, if you will...

FRANKIIE confront such pitfalls on their latest single ‘Compare,’ the self-proclaimed ‘grunge mermaids’ from Vancouver breaking that 'perfect image' many cultivate online with a dark yet defiant blast of country-tinged psychedelic rock.

As the quartet says about the track via press release:

‘We have become normalized to a world of voyeurism, but often what we see is merely a projection of a life that isn’t even truly real. We can get lost in the illusion of beauty and success of others – of strangers – and, in turn, feel like our own life doesn’t measure up.’

‘Compare’ is from FRANKIIE’s upcoming debut album Forget Your Head, out September 20 via Paper Bag Records.

FRANKIIE return with new single ‘Compare’

Vancouver-based indie dream-rock group FRANKIIE’s forthcoming album Forget Your Head, due September 20 on Paper Bag Records, marries the lush qualities of Big Thief with an intimate anthemic approach reminiscent of Heart. Reverb-drenched guitars and intoxicating harmonies have united 4 women into a dream-rock outfit whose live performance can’t be missed.  Ahead of the album the band has released a new single ‘Compare’.

The band's thoughts on the song: “We have become normalized to a world of voyeurism, but often what we see is merely a projection of a life that isn’t even truly real. We can get lost in the illusion of beauty and success of others – of strangers – and, in turn, feel like our own life doesn’t measure up.   “Compare” is inspired by the negative yet constant relationship one can form with social media. It’s human nature to compare yourself to others, but it’s important to be aware of how unhealthy it can be. Especially when it’s being thrust at you nonstop through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, whatever. We hope that “Compare” can remind you to just stop and celebrate yourself. We are all special and are all amazing.”
