It's also weird that they chose to cut to the theme song after this flat bathroom makeout and not after Allison goes missing??

8 TV shows to get to know me better

i was tagged by @isitcasualnow. here goes.

friday night lights-i'd just always like more people to watch this to grow the fanbase, which was small enough when it was still airing. so that every season until the last two we had good reason to think it was cancelled until a last minute turnaround. a teen drama set apart bc it was anchored by two parents and that actually worked. one of the last great network tv dramas, even accounting for a weird turn in the end of s1-early s2. as a lifelong tx resident (tho not in a small town thank god) a lot of it does ring true to me, and the little things that don't used to drive me crazy. disclaimer that i have no interest in nonfictional usamerican football and every game i attended was a purely social occasion, esp since our hs team sucked.

yellowjackets-the only currently running show i am willing to hunt down unofficial ways to watch each ep right after it comes out. that's a recommendation for you when roku has made me lazy and spoiled about wanting to watch stuff on an actual tv screen. it's girls going wild lord of the flies-style and milfs doing crime, something for everyone.

the simpsons-esp the golden years in like s1-10. i still watch this pretty much every day through the beauty of syndication.

jeopardy!-another show my family has watched every day for decades. you should still be able to find some of the old alex trebek ep on youtube.

er-if fnl was one of the final new great network tv dramas, er was one of the last running with 15 seasons. i dipped sometime after s10 but came back near the end. i used to sneak out from my room to watch this show in the living room with my mom as a little kid. the first two seasons of er and the fnl boxset are the only tv i've bought on dvd. which should tell you something tho it's all kinda unusable now.

degrassi: tng-esp the original classes of '06 and '07. a cringe interest i am old enough to admit to now, having been involved in the fandom ironically back then on multiple forums where we both discussed and made fun of the show. i'm sure it still has plenty of unintentional entertainment value, and its precursors, djhs and dhs are what we have to thank for bh90210 and every usamerican teen drama that came after.

it's always sunny in philadelphia-curse the fx/hulu deal for making this harder to find elsewhere. i still remember when it was on netflix.

derry girls-only 3 seasons as uk show that's not downton abbey or midsomer murders or the like, but i've the entire run on netflix multiple times now

My Top TV Show Male Characters

I'm currently bored, so why not make a post dedicated to my favorite TV show male characters (I'll do a female one soon). I've been binge watching so many shows ever since last year when quarantine first started, I thought why not even though I'm sure nobody cares 😂 *in no particular order*

Matt Saracen (Friday Night Lights)

Sweet precious baby angel. Matt Saracen stole my heart the first time I watched FNL. He deserves the world and more.

Pacey Witter (Dawson's Creek)

An absolute lovable king that deserved better. He is the reason why I watched Dawson's Creek and will continue to rewatch it. Pacey is the blueprint. I know most loved him and Joey, but the way he was with Andie made my heart melt. He was the perfect boyfriend to her. Also Joshua Jackson has the best "heart eyes emoji" facial expression (as seen above lol)

Cappie (Greek)

Greek was a show on ABC Family years back. It wasn't the most popular show, but it is one of the best shows to come out of that network. So very underrated and Cappie is quite literally the best written character of all time. Sometimes writers will write a protagonist in a way that at times makes it hard to root for them (*cough* Dawson Leery) but Cappie is written perfectly.

Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf)

An absolute icon. Stiles was the reason why I watched the show to begin with. His sarcasm and humor made every episode worth watching. Dylan O'Brien is a natural and stole the show. He deserved an award for Void Stiles.

Seth Cohen (The O.C.)

Just recently started this show and I immediately loved Seth. I'm a sucker for curly haired brunettes. His sarcasm reminded me so much of Stiles. It's as if he was the blueprint for Stiles lol.

Nathan Scott (One Tree Hill)

I'm hardcore judging anyone that preferred Lucas Scott. This man is the reason why I have high expectations for relationships. Him and Haley >>>>>

Matty McKibben (Awkward)

My high school crush and favorite armpit smelling weirdo. It was always Team Matty. Lowkey deserved better than Jenna at the end (even though they're one of my fave couples)

Dan Humphrey (Gossip Girl)

Now I know this is a very unpopular opinion but I love this king. Sorry not sorry and come on, it's Penn Badgley. Dan ate the rich like the legend he is. Another unpopular opinion.... Dair >>>>

Sam Winchester (Supernatural)

The most underappreciated man on this show. Will forever be the star in my opinion (even though I love them all).

What kind of accent does Taylor have in shadow play?

He has a Brooklyn accent in Shadowplay.

Ask #2: Do you know shadowplays tv rating? I’ve been trying to find the differences between American tv ratings and German tv ratings to see what kind of content could be in the show

Answer #2: I do not know the official rating of the show, but they drop at least one “fuck” in the trailer alone, so in the US if it was a movie it would be rated R. As a television show it would probably be TV-MA. A reason to believe it’s not going to land on a basic cable network because of the content. We’ll be looking at HBO, Netflix, Showtime, Hulu, Amazon, etc. 

Ask #3: Did Neil build Taylor’s bed? I went through his insta recently and I saw a pic from like two years ago. Looks very manly and not super comfy

Answer #3: Neil’s primary job, when not working with Taylor, seems to be working as a contractor. It looked like he and Taylor built a bed for Taylor’s house. Just the frame though...your beds comfort ultimately would depend on the mattress. 

Ask #4: I love taylor and dont mean to sound rude but why in the hell doesnt taylor work more? I need more taylor and hes only getting older. I hate to say it but hes becoming boring. Please taylor please

Answer #4: This is kind of how he’s always been? He’s really particular about what he chooses after maybe he had some perceived bad choices back in 2012 that have haunted him until recently. But also, I mean this year nobody has been working in Hollywood. It’s just the past month that productions have gotten back underway. He has a project ready to go and waiting to film as soon as they’re given the go-ahead. I get it’s hard with no new content...but that’s pretty much everyone in Hollywood right now. We’re still in the middle of a pandemic here. He’ll be one of the few that will have a project premiering this fall with Shadowplay.

Ask #5: I think there was a tweet back in January of this year of a girl talking about her experience serving Taylor in a restaurant. She said that it was his first time meeting his gfs parents and I just don’t see how that’s possible considering they’ve been together for like 10 or 11 years on and off now? If you need me to I’ll send the tweet when I find it!

Answer #5: I know which tweet you’re talking about because it did garner some confusion when it was posted. I think the general consensus was that it probably wasn’t her parents that he was meeting but someone else in her life and the waitress just assumed it was her parents because it was an older couple. Maybe someone she works with or for, a former employer, a mentor, another family member? I don’t think there’s any way that he hasn’t met her parents over the 10, almost 11 year period they’ve known one another/dated. 

Ask #6: Any tips on how to use fan forum for a newbie?

Answer #6: I’m a moderator over at that forum. All I can suggest is to register with the forum and come and post there! There’s an introduction thread that you can post in to introduce yourself and if you have any questions I’d be happy to help on the board. 

Ask #7: Are there any FNL blooper reels? I’d love to see them

Answer #7: There are deleted scenes and behind the scenes stuff on the DVD’s, but no bloopers. They were played a few times at various panels the cast of FNL did but they’e never been made public, unfortunately.

Is Taylor home safe with any of his family members?

Answer: I believe he’s in Austin, where he’s been self isolating. His family is in Canada so I would say no to being with family members. 

Ask #2: Has anyone seen Taylor around town?

Answer: I believe Austin was in a shelter-in-place situation until last week so, no, nobody has seen him out. I would guess, like most places that have opened up their state a little bit, that even if they are allowing you to go to restaurants or whatever it may be that he, like most people, are continuing to be cautious. I also don’t know if they’re required to wear a mask out in public. Here in Michigan you are. That might impact how easily someone might be able to identify him. 

Ask #3: Is taylor’s gf a stunt woman?

Answer: No. They were introduced by a mutual friend who happened to be Taylor’s Riggins stunt double. But she is not involved in the entertainment industry in any way.

Ask #4: Are taylor and nic pizzolatto friends? Has nic every said anything about taylor?

Answer: Sure, I think they’re friendly. Taylor mentioned something during the ‘21 Bridges’ promotion about checking in with Nic often, selfishly because he wants to work with him again. 

Ask #5: Do you think that Taylor will ever move back to Canada? Since, it’s his true true home.

Answer: Ever? Ever is a long time...I can’t say he’ll never move back there. He’s given every indication that Austin is his home. He just built his dream house there and has lived there now for something like 14 years. So as much as Canada is home and where his family is, Austin is very much home as well. That’s where he’s built his life. 

Ask #6: This is just from a fan and my own opinion. BUT, Taylor Kitsch should have won an award and should have gotten more accolades for Waco!

Answer: He should have at least been nominated, I agree. It just came down to the fact that it was on a new network that didn’t have the ability or built in audience to push that series forward the way it needed to be. I mean, it was added to Netflix and with no promotion or fanfare it was in the Top 10 watched programs for 2 1/2 weeks. People had no idea it wasn’t an original Netflix series. If it had been an original Netflix series a few years back, I think his chances would have been better to be nominated. Which, again, is why awards season is kind of a joke, there are so many other factors that come into play other than just straight performance. 

Ask #7: Do you have any pictures of Taylor with his sisters? Love your page!

Answer: I try not to post too much with his family unless it’s coming from something they’ve publicly posted. I’ll post this photo because his sister posted it on Instagram and tagged him in it. 

Ask #8: In Taylor’s message for Canada, as soon as he starts talking sounds like someone starts playing the guitar. Wonder who???

Answer: That was just music that was put into the video by ET Canada, nobody was playing a guitar at Taylor’s place. 

Ask #9: Will there ever be a Friday Night Lights sequel or reunion?

Answer: Most, if not all of the FNL cast has said that no, there won’t be a reunion or reboot or sequel. There isn’t anything in the works. There is an original Friday Night Lights movie happening though, directed by the Dowdle brothers, who did Waco. It’s a completely original story and take on the Friday Night Lights universe though.

10 years later, 'Friday Night Lights' starJesse Plemons reflects on Landry's murderous moment

For Friday Night Lights diehards — and if you’re an FNL fan, that means you’re a diehard — it was the black eye on an otherwise gorgeously adapted television series.

We’re talking, of course, about that fateful Season 2 premiere episode from October 2007, where Landry (Jesse Plemons) avenges the assault of Tyra (Adrianne Palicki) by straight murdering the perp with a metal pipe. A massive tonal departure from the otherwise funny and inspiring (and very un-CSI-like) show, the polarizing plot misstep has since been blamed on network tinkering by NBC, desperate to amp up the beloved but underperforming program. In other words, it was a ratings stunt.

Plemons, who came by Yahoo Studios to promote his new film, Game Night (which coincidentally reunites him with his FNL coach, Kyle Chandler), looks at the episode with, ahem, clearer eyes, 10 years later.

“I mean, I’m kind of conflicted by it because it also provided me with an opportunity to do something totally different than I did Season 1,” Plemons told us (watch above). “It was obviously some network influence there in Season 2. Along with the murder storyline, there were, all the sudden, more shower scenes. And [direction to] go hang out by the Gatorade coolers.”

The FNL cast was onto NBC at the time, Plemons assured us. “It was obvious at the time they were trying to amp up the action. Give the people what they thought they wanted.”

So how did the actors respond? “We just sabotaged all those scenes so they couldn’t use them, pretty much,” laughed Plemons, who has racked up multiple TV hits since (Breaking Bad, Fargo, Black Mirror).

Friday Night Lights ultimately prevailed, and thankfully, beyond Season 2, the whole murder plot was never referenced again.

But does Plemons think Landry ever killed again? “Oh yeah, many times,” he joked. But seriously, “No.”

Game Night opens Feb. 23.
