Barbara Streisand with her older brother Sheldon and a friend in 1952.
At this time, she was a student at P.S. 89. At Erasmus Hall High School she joined the Freshman Chorus and Choral Club, which also included Neil Diamond. He recalled, “We were two poor kids in Brooklyn. We hung out in the front of Erasmus High and smoked cigarettes.”

Remi Wolf – Kings Theatre – September 30, 2024
“In addition to performing songs from her newest album, Big Ideas, Remi Wolf did a cover of ‘Life Is a Highway’ and shared with the audience that Cars is her favorite movie, which is why they performed that song. She and her band also improvised a song by getting a word suggestion from someone in the audience. She had a really unexpected production for a theater show. It felt like it a stadium production with the number of lights plus the amount of running around onstage she did. Just a really impressive performance.” —Edwina Hay

No sale on stolen land. Protesters prevented a Zionist real estate event in Brooklyn today. The sale includes properties in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law. The demonstrators argue selling land in these settlements to only Jewish purchasers further entrenches the settlements and the Israeli occupation.. There have been a growing number land sale events in recent months.
-- Ian Bartlett, 13 Mar 2024
Initially, organizers from PAL-Awda NY/NJ, the Palestinian Assembly for Liberation, and PAL-Awda Mothers’ Committee, alongside 40 other organizations, called for a protest against an “israeli real estate event… set to take place in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where realtors [would] engage in selling property in occupied Palestine, settlements deemed illegal under international law.” After encouraging people to file complaints, the event was canceled, and the protest was redirected into a vigil.
