“Huh. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think they were trying to build a nuke in here— Oh. Oh."
→ STARTERS FROM THE COMMONWEALTH.
“Ezra?” Caitlyn pivots, light on her feet, and comes face-to-face with what has Dianthe so concerned.
He’s drawn aside a large tarp to reveal a huddle of barrels, each stenciled with a string of printed Zaunite and a hazard symbol.
Chemical hazard. Chemical weapons. At least they’d had the courtesy to mark it before dumping it in her city, before planning to use it against her people, before- she breathes in sharply.
“Back away from that. Now.”

💀 an urgent text.
texting starters
[1:21] Ezra. I want you to think very carefully, and to recall the specifics of our previous case.
[1:22] Did any of the onlookers seem unduly interested in us, rather than the theft?
[1:24] We missed him. He was there. I know he was there, and we missed him. I can’t even recall what he looked like.
[MESSAGE DELETED]
[1:37] It’s just a hypothesis at the moment. Respond when you can.

“A successful theft is an anonymous act."
→ THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE.
Caitlyn’s lips draw into a line as she looks up at Ezra. She knows, obviously, what this is about - she needs no “power of observation” for that. The clue is in her hand, and she turns the card over and over again.
“And yet he remains uncaught,” she replies with a sigh, flipping the card to its face. The calligraphed C stares back at her. “Do you really think that a single letter disqualifies him from anonymity?”
She’s seen him, admittedly: a flash of blond hair and a security officer’s uniform, a collection of facial features so unremarkable that even she couldn’t trust herself to pick their combined whole out of a lineup. She’s seen him, she’s pursued him, she’s even shot at him (the bullet was nonlethal, but it hadn’t hit) - and yet that is all.
Ezra doesn’t know about her chase up the stairways of the Artificer’s Guild of Demacia, and she plans to keep it that way. It’s one of her greatest failures, something that she replays over and over in her head on long nights until the memory wears like magnetic tape.
Her laugh is small and chimes like shattering glass. “He’s quite successful, regardless.“

🍎 - BloodForVlad
texting starter - an apologetic text
[13:23] I believe I owe you an apology. I judged you too harshly.
[13:24] Don’t consider this an excuse to continue your behavior, however.

“Don’t mind me. Just enjoying the view.” - BloodForVlad
→ STARTERS FROM THE COMMONWEALTH.
“The city is beautiful,” Caitlyn says dryly.
She looks the noble over. Noxian. Vladimir Sanguinus, if she is not mistaken. The metal claws are quite the indicator, and there is something odd about them in addition... she stores that thought away for the moment.
“Because, of course, that is what you are referring to, yes?”
