for @glitterypirateduck's Fall4Rudy Challenge Prompt: "Behave"
Masterlist | Request are Open
“Behave you two.”
It was one thing to help Alex and Farah with an upcoming mission, and it was another to realize that the bastard that caused such a mess in Las Almas’ base to be alive and well who also just so happens to still be alive after everyone thought him to be dead. You had accepted that both your brother and your husband would be annoyed by the fact, but their blood was boiling further when they had realized that one Philipp Graves would also be in attendance, returning to the base that he had once tried to overthrow.
“He does anything stupid, I’ll be the first one to blow his head off.” Your husband muttered under his breath but you had heard just as much as your brother.
“Get in line, I got first dibs on the bastard.” Alejandro quipped right back, never once did he try to hide the displeasure of the news of the man’s apparent arrival in a few minutes.
“Behave.” You raised your voice, earning a silence from the two, and the more than evident appreciation from everyone in the team that had been walking on eggshells since the new of Grave’s living state. Alejandro was beside himself and your husband was not much of a help as much as you wanted him to be in placating Alejandro’s temper.
“Yes, Ma’am.” Both had muttered but your attention was glued right back to the helicopter that had just landed and had housed the very man responsible for the two’s foul mood.
“I don’t want to hear anything from either of you from now on. We already have mess with need to deal with, I don’t want this to turn into a bloody massacre if it doesn’t need to be.”
Eventually, the helicopter door had opened and the sight of Commander Farah Karim and Lieutenant Alex Keller had brought a smile on your face. It was only natural to give them a welcoming entrance to Las Almas as you couldn’t depend on the two scary menace of men behind you to do to it.
“I hope your flight here was well.” You began, shaking the pair’s hand before your eyes turned behind them and narrowed at the sight of an all too familiar man that brought all the bad memories back into the surface. “Commander Grave, it’s nice to see you again.”
“No need for the fake pleasantries, Lieutenant.” The man brushed off, a sick smirk playing on his lips. “After all, the last time I was here wasn’t much of a good experience for any of you.”
Just like that, Alejandro was at it again. Spewing curse upon curse at the man in Spanish with Rudy holding him back. You had to rub your temple in annoyance, you had given both Farah and Alex an apologetic look to which both had sympathized over. They both understood the history the man had in Las Almas, but they had no other choice and Graves was the only person fit for the job—as much as you all hated it.
“Behave!” You screamed and two had finally halted and apologized to you and to your two guest.
“Keep your dogs in line, and we will not have much of a problem, Lieutenant.”
Something ticked at the statement and you found yourself pulling your gun out and pointing it towards Graves. You ignored the protest from everyone as you approached the bastard and digging the gun right through his chest, unafraid to pull the trigger if he says anything else.
“Keep that fucking mouth of your shut, Graves.” You spat. “You don’t need to worry about my husband or my brother, cause the moment I find out you’re fucking with us all over again, I’ll be the one to put a bullet through your skull.”
Put the fear of God in the man’s eyes you slowly backed away, immediately, being pushed behind your husband that now becoming calmer and ready to continue on with the discussion that was bound to happen between all six of you.
“Behave, Amor.” Rudy whispered turning behind to look at you with irony.
It seems the Vargas temper was still running strong through your veins. With a deep breath, you finally put your gun back to the holster and waited for the man to say anything else that would give you the privilege to shoot him point blank.
You said nothing now, allowing your brother to pull his head up on his ass and initiate in taking the three visitors into the heart of the base. He had also made sure to make Graves well aware of the fixes they had all done after the damage he had made to the base during the takeover.
You were left with your husband who now had his arm around your shoulder.
“So much for making the two of us behave.” He teased.
“No one calls my boys dogs.” You muttered, after everything you had all been through to make Las Almas safe again from the Cartel, you would kill anyone that would think of anyone as mere dogs. “I’ll kill anyone that hurts you or my brother without hesitation.”
“Cálmate, mi amor.” He chuckled, now pulling you into his chest, his arms wrapped around your waist as you took his scent in. “You mean the world to us and we will do anything and everything to keep you safe, not the other way around.”
“You and Alejandro will hesitate, but I fucking won’t. If that gringo had tried to say anything else I would shoot and ask questions later.” You muttered, chin resting on his sternum, you looked into his eyes, even in the seriousness of your tone, the smile was all too plastered on his handsome face. “I will not hesitate you know. I could still do that right now.”
As you made a plan to step away from his hold, he held you tighter.
“No need for bloodshed just yet. When this mission is over and things get out of hand again because of him, I’ll let you skip the line and shot him first.”
You grinned satisfied with your husband’s compromise.
“This is why I love you.”
“This is why I’m sometimes scared of you.” He muttered under his breath.
“What was that?”
“Nothing, Mi Amor. Let’s get back inside and see what Alejandro is up to.”
~
“Small but terrible that sister of yours.” Grave believed that he still had the right for small talk as all four of them had walked the corridors.
“I’d be more worried about her than any of us, Gringo. She’s like a rabid dog to people like you.”
“What was that, Colonel?”
Graves had watched the Colonel tense at the sound of your voice. Even he was worried as he turned to have a look at you, the all too demented grin on your lips, waiting for him to fuck up. But even more dangerous was the unfazed smile on Rudy’s face as he had his arm around your shoulder—a metaphorical leash to keep you at bay.
Why the fuck was he back here in Las Almas of all places again?

Masterlist
A voice in your brain begrudgingly admitted the cliché of time stops when you met his beautiful brown eyes the moment you stepped off the helicopter.
“Sergent Major Rodolfo Parra. Welcome to Las Almas.”
Your heart may or may not flutter a bit when he quietly introduces himself with his soft tenor voice.
You soon knew why he was a second in command and trusted by Colonel Alejandro Vargas and the Los Vaqueros. This is a man who exudes calmness and composure. And after witnessing him on the battlefield? Precision, efficiency, bravery and most important thing of all, compassion. It just makes you admire him even more.
You bury that admiration inside your heart. Happy just to keep the relationship professional. Besides, from all the gossip and talks, he doesn’t seem to be lacking in admirers around the base, nor be interested in relationships. You are only here for the short term. Better not get yourself too deep into it.Last thing you want is leaving with a broken heart. Why would he be interested in a little medic like you anyway?
“Ah Doc, my second in command has something to ask you. Don’t you Rudy?”
Everyone else sees it differently otherwise. Your brother gives you the quizzical look every time you start to ramble on about the Sergeant major, Gaz’s subtle jab about how you couldn’t take your eyes off him, Ghost staring at you (you could almost see that little bit of frown between his brows), and Price mumbles on how the two of you should just get your eyes checked.
Alejandro suddenly called out to you one morning when you were dropping off some medical files into his office. The colonel, not being subtle at all, pushes the sergeant major towards you, trying to get his hermano to ask you out on a date.
“Only.. only if you want to. I just thought I want to show you the local festival and culture…” Rudy hesitated as he shuffled on his feet, his usual confidence all but disappeared.
Well now here you are, at his family home, his sister Camila and mother ( with his mother half sobbing and mumbling what seems to be word of holy praises ) eagerly pushing you into the bedroom, getting you all dolled up with the traditional garments.
You can see his jaw drop slightly as you step out of the room, and twirl around to show off your skirt.
“Like it??” You asked as you flash him a shy smile. You absolutely love the dress. You were also amazed how well it fitted you. “Someone may or may not let out what size dress you wear and told my brother…” Camila winked at you, letting out a bit of a secret.
“Or not wearing?” You winked at him, His cheek instantly darkens. You just can’t help but tease him a little as you feel a bit brave ( or maybe it’s that two liqueur shots your fellow medics made you scull down before you came did the trick), and it’s fun to see his calm façade crumble.
A soft smile appeared on his face after he blinked his eyes a few times, snapping himself out of a daze ,“You look stunning, Whatever you wear.” Oh, he is a sweet talker. You like that.
“Oh can’t forget this!” Camila rushed out from the room, placing the flower crown on your head. Rudy gently holds it in place as his sister clips it on with hair clips. After giving everything a final check, one of his hands slides down and ghosts your cheek before grasping your hand.
“Ready to go?”
Oh dear, you can already feel your body burning up, and you are pretty sure it's not from the alcohol.
It has been a fun night, the music, the drinking and the dancing.
Oh the dancing. The want and lust that he had carefully hidden slowly slips out as the night progresses. How he caresses your knuckles with his thumb, the hand always on the small of your back, guiding you away from the rowdy crowds. How you shiver when his lip brushes your ear as he whispers into your ear when the music gets too loud. Feeling the heat emitting through layers of clothing when his body presses against your during the dance, how he fails to disguise the sharp inhale of air when you slide your hand around his waist, hooking your thumbs between the gap of his pants.
You can’t hold onto the urge anymore. Your glossy eyes peer into his darken orbs, wanting the affirmation that it isn’t not just you who wants something more. More than just shy touches and polite words. His eyes flicker towards your lips and lower briefly, before meeting your eyes again, nodding slightly, Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed hard.
And that is all the confirmation you need.
Half dragging Rudy across the festival ground, around the back of the building and the little green area beside it, your body is burning with uncontrollable lust and fire.
Once you make sure you are hidden away from prying eyes, you pull him down for a deep kiss. He responded immediately with one hand cupping your face and the other gently but firmly holding onto the back of your head.
Two of you only parted when you pulled back slightly, gasping for air. He leaned forward slightly, chasing for a few more kisses before resting his forehead against yours.
It’s all getting too much. You want him. Right there, right now.
Hitching your skirt up as you lift your right leg up, you hook it around his waist. “Look at what you do to me…” you whispered into his ear, grabbing his hand, guiding it towards your wet underwear.. “I want you Rudy. here. now. “
“He…here???” he stuttered slightly, not expecting you to be this bold. He looked around, checking the surroundings again. The two of you are still close to the festival ground, but private enough that you are sure no one will be coming towards this side nor hear you both over the loud music.
“No one is going to come this way.” You reassure him as you bring your hands up , looping it around his neck, grinding against his slowly aroused cock. You can feel his body shivering as you gently nipping his ear lobe.
“Make me feel good Rudy. Please.” you cooed.
How could he deny a request from you? Especially with those pleading watery eyes, voice full of need and lust.
He only realised how enamoured with you when he saw you stepping out of the room in the traditional garb, the woman of his dream, he thought. The moment he realises his little hidden crush on you is now a full blown desire.
Looking into your eyes again, “Are you sure this is what you want?” he asked again in a husky voice, giving you a chance to back out.
You gasped as he sank his fingers deeper into you, curling it up slightly. Your head rolls back, leaning into the tree as you let out a satisfying moan. He leans down, licks a stripe up the valley of your breasts, up your neck, until he reaches your chin. He peppered kisses on your cheek as he sped up his ministration, muttering praises as he grabbed hold of your waist tight, knowing your orgasm is going to hit soon.
“You know I want you. And you want me too, right?” You move your hip slightly, hoping to get a bit of friction with his hand that is still cupping your sex. That gave him the last bit of reassurance as he pushed the fabric to the side to play with your clit, eliciting a loud moan from you.
How wonderful those thick fingers of his feel on you. You have always wondered what his fingers will feel like when you sit quietly in the corner in the mess hall after dinners, him playing the guitar with his deft fingers while the soldiers around him sing the stress away, celebrating living on for another day, as the fight with the cartel and corruption continues.
“Cariño.”
Your hazy eyes open up, mouth slightly agape, everything seems so muffle, so hot, so … good.
“Look at you, so beautiful. Such an angel.” he whispered in a husky tone. “Look at me, I want you to look at my eyes when you come.” he commanded as your eyes drifted close again, feeling that coil about to snap at any time.
“Don’t hold back, just let it out…come for me mi vida… ” with those words, your orgasm hits you with a full force. You are sure if it’s not for the loud music, everyone in the festival ground would probably have heard you. But you couldn’t care less at this point as he slows down his finger thrusting, letting you ride out the rest of your bless high.
Your head fell forward into his shoulder, panting away as you tried to reorientated yourself as he slowly pulled his fingers out, gliding it up towards your clit, making you tremble with overstimulation. Gently letting your leg down, making sure you are steady before he pulls you in for a tight embrace, you can feel his now fully erected cock straining against his pants.
Pushing yourself off from him, you reach down towards his pants, carefully unbuckling his belt with your trembling hands. He let out a shuddered breath as you tug his trousers and underwear down, exposing his beautiful girth.
“Did I do this? Did I make you hard Rudy?” you murmured as you slide your hand up and down the length, Rudy couldn’t hold back an unrestrained groan.
“I want you inside me.. And make me come with your cock..please make me come again, please.” You pleaded as you speed up the pumping, clenching your thigh with the need rising again, ready to take him in.
Slowly but surely he pumps his delicious length in and out of you, each thrust and praise of words elicits more whimpers and moans out of your mouth, begging him to push you over the edge again.
Rudy grabbed your wrist to stop the ministration, and pushed you back gently until your back was against a tree, and leaned down to capture your mouth with his. Teasing your lip apart with his tongue, he hitches your skirt up and moves it to the side, hand finding your sex again. Taking his cock into his hand, he lowered himself slightly to aim his cock towards your slit, teasing it a little with the head before slowly pushing it in.
Both of you let out a contented sigh as the finally seated in you. It feels so good, so fulfilling with him stretching you nicely with his wide girth. You wouldn’t mind if he is buried inside you forever.
He lifts your leg up and shifts your body slightly to get a better angle, thrusting even impossibly deeper than you imagined. You grabbed onto his shoulder tight, as you felt the familiar sensation building up again. With a few final hard thrust, you screamed out loud as you came for the second time, he followed not long after with a loud moan as your pussy spasming around his cock, filling you up with his hot cum. He buried his face into the crook of your neck as both of you slowly rode out the rest of your orgasm.
The two of you stayed in that position for a little while, eyes closed, with only the sounds of shuddering breathing from your post-orgasm highs heard between the two of you." You bite your lip, barely containing the sound of whimper as he pulls out from you, secretly wanting him to stay in there for a bit longer. He took out a handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped you over and himself as well, before smoothing down your wrinkle top and skirt. You did the same for him as you buckled his belt back on, straightening his shirt.
He leans into your forehead as you reach up and run your hand to smooth out his now sweat drenched hair, both of you burst out laughing.
“ We look like we've been running a marathon. Or being chased by a group of bandits.” you quipped.
“But it was a very good marathon.” he puffed out. Holding your face and kissing you gently on the lip, he murmured, “I would do it again any day.”
“Against a tree??” you giggled.
“Preferably in bed next time” he chuckled. “Or anytime. Only if.. if you want.” his voice drops down to a whisper, suddenly all shy.
“I would never say no to that, Rudy.” you reassure him as you pull him in for another kiss.
“Finally.”
“About time.”
“Sick of the two of you dancing around each other.”
“Good job Sergeant major and doc! Wohooooo”
“Don’t too loud at night, you two.”
“What the..” “ YOU GUYS!!!!”

My Heart Burns For You
Rodolfo is still by your side and ready to fight for Las Almas, but after a near-death encounter he realises he can't stay silent about how he feels for you.
Pairing: Rodolfo “Rudy” Parra x GN!Reader
Genre: Fluff, Canon-Compliant (Straight after Borderline), Confessions, Friends to Lovers, Italicised sentences are characters talking in Spanish
Word Count: 2.3k
For Fall4Rudy by @glitterypirateduck
Prompts: “I can't get you out of my head” (6), “Say it again” (16)
Warning: Graphic descriptions of injuries, talks of death
A/N: In the campaign Rudy almost dies in a fire, bleeding after a gun to the face then the next day he’s just vibing. I get that the military is fast paced but DAMN- (Also YES I GOT TO CONTRIBUTE TO FALL4RUDY I WAS SO SCARED WITH ASSIGNMENTS I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SKDJFALKSDS)
It was the early hours of the new day. The Vaqueros are vigilant all day, all night, even on their own base, meaning you were pacing back and forth on watch duty. You volunteered this time, with your fellow Vaqueros not arguing with a knowing smile. It seems everyone but the sergeant major himself has become aware of how close you had become, or aware of how you swoon whenever he spoke to you, or offered that little extra bit of care. Combined with what was one of the highest stakes missions to date, you couldn’t help the need to see Rodolfo the instant he and Alejandro got back from the Mexican border…
… if they get back.
You tutted at yourself before turning your head back to the horizon, grip tightening on your rifle. They will be back and you will be the first to see them, you wouldn’t have it any other way. Like cowboys you will see them on the horizon, riding in front of the burning glory of the sun. With a successful mission they will bring the new day and reignite the passion and hope that the Vaqueros so desperately need.
There’s a distant but familiar growl of a cargo truck, and you immediately take cover, gun at the ready as you look down its sights as you try and get a visual of the vehicle. Right on cue, you hear the familiar cackle of Alejandro’s voice through your comms.
“Guns down, friendlies returning to base.”
You smile as you loosen your posture, standing back up again. But simmering under your joy is the thought that they’ve returned home a little too early.
“I’m taking it’s a successful mission, Colonel?”
“Sergeant.”
The line is silent for a few moments.
“That’s a negative.”
It is meant to be morning and yet the sky is looking ever darker. The stars do little to illuminate your darkening expression. Your swallow is thicker than the tar that shapes the tattered roads beneath you, scorched after years of neglect under Las Almas’ heat.
“Where’s Rodolfo?”
You try to ask as nonchalantly as possible. To hide the fact you’re demanding an answer like a kid to your direct superior.
“I’m here.”
The tension in your shoulders was relieved at that voice. You would rather see him, rather have him tell you as he stood beside you. Ideally his voice wouldn’t sound strained, fatigue bleeding through the speakers into your own weary mind, painfully reminding you that you’ve essentially pulled an all nighter to catch a glimpse of him before you hit the hay.
“I had to come back to you.”
You chew your lips as the static cuts off. Before you can think any further at Rodolfo’s odd choice of words the truck pulls up to you as you stand by the entrance of the base. You squint even as the full-beam headlights turn off, the glare stubbornly clouding your vision. The slam of a car door has you tilting your head to Alejandro as he exits the truck. His smile is genuine but strained.
He was in the driver’s seat. And if Rudy was around, Alejandro never drove.
The colonel seemed to be reading your mind.
“Rudy is being rather honest right now, I needed to give him some adrenaline.”
On the other side of the truck, Rodolfo’s silhouette eventually comes back into view. His head had lulled forward, footsteps pounding against the sandy grounds of Las Almas. They were determined but not nearly as clean as his usual gait, pebbles audibly grinding against his boots. Only when he emerged from the shadows of the truck did you realise why Alejandro needed to give him a boost.
“Rudy…”
Rodolfo is silent, only marching ever closer to you. His visage is nothing short of horrific, blood both fresh and dry painting a terrifying collage on the upper half of his face. He must have tried to wipe the blood off, finger-sized smears across his countenance that haphazardly spread onto the wrists of his hoodie did little to relieve you.
“Rodolfo? Friend, you must get patched up-” Alejandro muttered after the sergeant major. Upon realising Rodolfo was beelining straight to you, Alejandro only gave you a firm nod with a knowing look. “Sergeant, patch him up.”
But Rodolfo had already reached you, hand held ever so lightly around your bicep like the gentlest but encouraging breeze to follow him into base. You can’t bring yourself to resist, not even trying to slow down his brisk walk and instead look over your shoulder to address Alejandro.
“Roger that, Colonel!”
Alejandro only waves you off dismissively with an amused expression between a smile and a grimace as Rodolfo paced double time into the building with you in tow.
“Rodolfo?”
“I need to tell you something.”
He leaves it at that and the damning baritone that ends his sentence leaves you unable to even dare to say anything else. Instead you can only take him in apprehensively as he leads you down the familiar hallways towards your quarters. When you expected the familiar indoor smell of your second home to wash over, instead it was dominated by the pungent odour of something charred. Bitterly mixed with smoke and gasoline, you dreaded the image conjuring up in your mind as you notice a hole in Rodolfo’s jacket, loose threads singed off in a cruel finish.
When you reach your room, you take the lead, pulling Rodolfo down to sit on your bed. It’s only then does his hand tighten, fingers attempting to clamp around your bicep but it only closes around air. You head straight to your first aid kit, and then to retrieve a towel that you dampen with water. He watches you all the while.
Rodolfo parts his knees, letting you stand between his thighs. With one hand you take his chin, the other giving light dabs across his face. You can’t help but grimace as you notice the towel dirty with red, but Rodolfo doesn’t seem all too bothered with his own injuries, the weight of his head on your hand getting heavier as he gets comfortable.
“What on earth happened so suddenly that you need to tell me now?” You chastise lightly. “I’m sure it can wait tomorrow, you need to rest-”
“No, we failed,” Rodolfo grumbles. His syllables were a little slurred, no doubt to the adrenaline running off but his eyebrows were adorably furrowed as he tried to maintain concentration. “We will head out in the morning to find Hassan, I need-”
“To rest,” you argue. Your ministrations cleaned up the main mask of his face, and now you could get a good look at him without being concerned that he was going to kick the bucket in a few minutes. You give him a frown before you continue to dab at his temples and the blood that got stuck in the roots of his hair, Rodolfo offering the odd hum of contentment all the while. “We can handle it tomorrow, if we’ll be fighting like you said, we’ll need to concentrate-”
“I love you.”
Your hand stilled. You instinctively wanted to argue that he must’ve had too much adrenaline but he is looking as serious and sober as ever.
“You tell me I’ll need to concentrate but I can’t get you out of my head.”
He reached up to take your hand that’s at his temple, despite the thickness of his fingers he nimbly moves them to thread in between yours. You do not doubt that the man standing before you is Rodolfo, but something was different. He was changed. The fire in his eyes held a different light, more sombre, a tinge of desperation. He was distracted, or instead, he was too focused on a singular goal that he disregarded everything else like a moth to a flame. He still wore his dirtied gear upon sheets that you’ll likely have to wash later.
“What happened tonight?” You whisper tentatively. In truth, you weren’t sure if you wanted to know the answer.
“I almost died.”
In any other situation you would have laughed. Of course he almost died, you two almost die every day. It comes with the territory of being a Vaqueros.
But the both of you know that.
“In the cartel safehouse, alone,” Rodolfo murmurs. “I saw Hassan, he talked to me. They set the house aflame but I was concussed, I couldn’t move no matter how much I wanted to.”
He looks away briefly and you offer his hand a gentle squeeze of encouragement. He leans forward, getting closer to you until his tactical vest clacks against yours.
“Alejandro saved me,” he admits. “But before he did… I thought I was done.”
For a second, Rodolfo is back in the safehouse, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallows a cough.
“I swear I was burning in the flames of hell already, it was suffocating. In those moments when I had no choice but to lie and wait, I could only think of one thing. They say that your life flashes before your eyes but that did not happen to me.”
And then it was Rodolfo’s turn to tighten the grip on your hand, expecting you to slip away through his fingers like smoke.
“I could only think about you.”
Rodolfo drags your hands down to his cheek. Pulling his hand away briefly to then manipulate yours to cup his face. He leans into it and you indulge, gently stroking the plushness of his cheek with your thumb. With his face close up to yours, you now notice the faintest stray smears of soot against his skin and you try to wipe them away even as it gets your own hands dirty in the process. His face is flushed, skin warm to the touch like the final embers of a campfire.
“The only regret on my mind - that you never knew how I felt about you. I know the lives we’ve chosen are dangerous, but you were always my respite. I accept it is fair that I will die out on the field as a Vaquero but when I was burning in that safehouse I could only think how it was unfair to you.”
His eyes had slowly closed as he nuzzled deeper into your palm.
“It was unfair to you if I never got to show you my gratitude or repay you. It was unfair if I didn’t get the chance to at least try to give you the comfort you have given me.”
You could barely hear him over your pounding heart. Rodolfo resigns himself, slowly lifting his head from your hand. He doesn’t look particularly sad, only accepting, looking as resolute as ever.
“You don’t have to feel the same, but you deserve to know. Coronel may fight for Las Almas, but I realise now I am fighting for you. Regardless of how you feel, I always will be.”
With no words able to capture how you feel, you can only push forward, pressing your lips against his. Rodolfo was more than happy to accept, his hand already slipping to the back of your head, pushing you impossibly closer to him. Any closer and there will be teeth clacking and even then it would not feel close enough. Your military gear only feels like a hinderance, as it creates an uncomfortable pressure against your chest that you push through just to get a taste of him. His groan is swallowed up by you and reverberates through your entire being. Pressing up against him, the bitter fumes of toxic flames that surrounded him were distant, managing to instead get the whiff of his cologne; the smell of comfort after quiet nights spent huddled together in base. His other arm cradles the curve of your back, the firmness of his bicep nudging you forward until your abdomen is against his.
And with a single kiss you pour all of the emotion you can. For all the days spent pining helplessly at his natural kindness. For all the times he refuses to let you do a mission alone, to the hushed, panic whispers of reassurance when you’re bleeding out on the field. To let him know he’s already paid in kind if not more. That every time you reload your rifle and step onto cartel territory, ready to sign your life away, that you had been fighting for him all the same.
When you pull away, Rodolfo does not let you move any further than you have to to regain your breath. He rests his forehead against yours, heaving breaths intermingling. His hands have crept up to your neck, thumbs rubbing soothing circles against your skin. No doubt his fingers have accidentally dirtied your face with the soot and dirt from the mission, but you will gladly adorn the markings as a sign that you are his.
“I love you too,” you say breathlessly and he instinctively lets out a content sigh.
“Dios mío, please, say it again.”
“I love you, Rodolfo Parra,” you reply and he offers a smile worthy to be put in a museum.
It takes a few testing tugs until Rodolfo allows you to finally part from him, not after you distract him with a quick peck on the lips. You gingerly pick up the towel that had been forgotten on the floor, setting it aside and now opening up the first aid kit beside you.
“Now that I’m your lover I can order you around, hm?” You tease and you giggle with how his smile turns shy upon referring to yourself as his partner. “I’m going to patch you up, we’ll wash up, and then you’re going to rest.”
“How cruel,” he replies fondly. “But I guess whatever mi vida says must go, yes?”

characters: rodolfo “rudy” parra
summary: an undercover operation goes awry, leaving you and rudy in a tight spot – literally.
prompts: 3. "first one to make a noise loses" & 19. "the choice is yours"
genre: general, fluff, fem!reader (no desc.)
warnings: not proofread (i'll do it later </3), cursing, brief mentions of canon-typical violence, classic stuck-in-a-closet situation 😏, like two spanish words since i'm still a beginner lol
word count: 1.9k
note: RAHHHHHH RUDY MY LOVE‼️‼️🗣️ once again, shoutout to @glitterypirateduck for curating this event!!
also wrote most of this while fighting off sleep so if it's bad, i'm sorry, i have another rudy fic on my WIP list <3
things can't get much worse than this, right?
right?
"a simple mission," he said. "just a quick in-and-out." he said.
you swear, you're going to to kick alejandro with the heels that you're wearing if you come out of this alive.
as you go to round a corner, a few voices make you stop dead in your tracks and tuck yourself back against the wall. it's a small group, no more than four men, and you hold your breath as they stroll right past you without even sparing a glance in your direction.
if there's anything to be thankful for, it's the lack of discipline in the guards. they're all too worried about getting drunk at the party still raging elsewhere than catching the "agent" in attendance.
you let out a soft sigh as you watch them disappear down the corridor, until footsteps quickly approaching from behind make you jump and spin around, preparing to face the would-be attacker.
before you can even turn, though, a pair of gloved hands grab ahold of you, one coming up to cover your mouth as you let out a surprised yelp, and the other pressing you into the wall again. it's an instinct when you fight back, lifting your foot and stomping on theirs, praying that the heel of your shoe is enough to force them to loosen their grip and give you a chance to escape.
the grunt that leaves them – him, you realize – sounds all-too familiar. you hesitate, which gives the man enough time to yank his foot back and lean closer, mumbling something into your ear despite the pain lacing his every word.
"it's me—!" he says through a pained groan. the dots finally connect in your head and you crane your neck to look at him over your shoulder.
the man stares at you through a black balaclava, but his eyes are unmistakable. it's rudy.
"what are you doing here?" you ask, voice slightly muffled against his palm. rudy pulls his hand away and steps back, giving you space to face him properly. you mutter a quick apology upon seeing him stumble a bit, obviously sore from your attack, but he brushes it off with a casual wave of his hand.
"heard about the situation over comms, figured you could use some help." he shrugs as your gaze drops, dragging over the dark suit that sits snugly on his form. "we need to move quickly. the security's scattered right now, but it won't be long until they find the body." he adds, tapping your shoulder gently as he moves past you.
you follow close behind as he starts down the corridor that the group of guards came from earlier. "i'm assuming you mean the guy who's clothes you're wearing – did you not hide him well?"
rudy pauses at another intersection, holding a hand up to signal for you to stop behind him. "didn't have time to. i was more worried about you."
with the way he says the words so casually, you know that it's nothing more than work to him. helping a fellow soldier, assisting you in the field for the sake of the mission, doing his job as the second-in-command. still, you don't miss the way your heart skips a beat at the thought of rudy rushing to your aid for a different, more personal, reason.
after a mumbled "come on," he's continuing down the hallway with you right behind him, the distinct sounds of your heels clacking against the floor with each step and his leather oxfords echoing off the walls.
you nearly slam into his back when rudy suddenly stops in the middle of a hallway, opening your mouth to protest, until you hear aggravated grunts and conversation coming from further down the corridor. before you can react, though, rudy's grabbing your shoulder to guide you as he swings open a nearby door and hastily shoves you inside it.
he slips in with you and lets out a heavy breath as the door softly clicks shut behind him, leaving you in almost total darkness. you press your back to the wall and flinch when the handle of a broom brushes against your spine, making you shuffle forward a bit to get comfortable in the cramped space.
unfortunately, "comfortable" equals standing so close to rudy that you worry about him hearing the rapid beating of your nervous heart.
you're in a small room, some kind of broom closet, with one of your superiors confined and standing just inches away from you. the shadows obscuring your face end up being your saving grace— if he could see the way you're reacting to the close proximity, you'd probably die from sheer embarrassment.
"they were heading our way?" you manage to ask, whispering through the pitch blackness.
you can make out some movement in the shadows akin to a nod. "party guests aren't allowed in this area. it's safer to hide and let them pass by." rudy mutters in reply, shifting. his hand, covered by a dark leather glove, grazes your arm lightly, his touch leaving behind a faint heat that slowly spreads through the rest of your body.
he lifts his arm fully and finds something that you can barely make out: a string, hanging in the air between you two. rudy gives it a single tug and suddenly you're squinting, eyes adjusting to the dim, artificial light that fills the small space from the bulb at the center of the ceiling.
seeing him semi-clearly again is enough to make you stare, eyes greedily drinking up his disguise as he keeps his attention trained on the little bit of space at the bottom of the door. you manage to tear your gaze from him after admiring the way the balaclava clings to his focused expression, clearly outlining strong features that you know will make you melt all over again once the mask is removed.
fleeting shadows obscure the light coming in from the crack, signaling that the group from before is passing by. you remain quiet, practically holding your breath as you watch the last person's silhouette appear and disappear under the door, the group's conversation gradually fading as they continue down the hall without a single alarm raised.
rudy goes to open the door, hand firmly wrapping around the knob, but when he tries to twist it open, you're both a little shocked at it not budging. he twists it again, but to no avail.
"mierda," he whispers harshly, fidgeting with the doorknob. "it's stuck." he adds, shooting a glance in your direction.
you briefly meet his gaze and blink at him, swiftly understanding the implications.
you're alone, very lightly armed, and trapped in a stuffy closet with your second-in-command whilst surrounded by enemies. somehow, things did find a way to get worse.
the two of you fall into a tense silence as you take in the situation: rudy, testing the strength of the door once more, and you, carefully listening for anyone nearby with an ear pressed against the wall. catching a guard's attention isn't ideal, but two or three men shouldn't be too difficult to take out discreetly.
you don't hear anything for what feels like ages. no footsteps, no voices, not even a peep from your ally. with a frustrated huff, you pull back from the wall and settle for staring into the minimal space between you and rudy.
at some point, he pulls off the mask, allowing you to drag your gaze up to his uncovered face. you can see thoughts swimming behind his dark irises, plans being formed off the cuff, preparation for any and every possible outcome. if rudy's anything, it's meticulous and levelheaded, even in a bad situation. he's everything a leader should be, and you commend him for it.
the silence lingers heavy in the air, settling like an uncomfortable weight on your shoulders. you swallow down the lump in your throat awkwardly, wracking your brain for an excuse to break it.
"first one to make a noise loses," you mumble, sending him a cursory glance.
rudy chuckles softly, his shoulders drooping slightly. he meets your gaze and seems to relax, lips twitching into a small smile. "i think you lost when you said that."
you roll your eyes half-heartedly. "that doesn't count." you lean in, mirroring his smile. "you lost by responding, though."
he concedes, lifting his hands in a mock surrender. "you got me, i guess you're the winner." he says, before letting his hands fall to his sides once more.
you're left staring at each other again. the tension dissipates with those few words, however, and you let yourself bask in the warmth of his gaze. it isn't special, you know that rudy looks at all of his allies with the same warmth, but a part of you clings to the hope that his affection is reserved for you. it's silly – juvenile, even – to think of your teammate like this. what you have is just a schoolgirl crush, feelings that he'd never reciprocate—
"you look beautiful," he utters, nearly inaudible despite the lack of other sounds. "i, uh... wanted to tell you that before the mission."
did you hear that correctly?
you keen under his praise, muttering an equally soft "thank you" before mentally kicking yourself for the awkward response and opening your mouth to speak again. "you look handsome. maybe you should've been on this mission instead." you add with a laugh.
"you were handling yourself just fine." rudy says, eyes narrowing when you shake your head.
"there's a reason why you had to step in. besides—"
"—besides, why would i miss out on this view?" he asks. you stop short, jaw practically going slack. again, did you hear that correctly?
you blink at him, dumbfounded. "that's bold."
another mental kick makes you flinch at your own reply.
gloved hands wrap around your own, guiding your hands to sit between yours and rudy's bodies. he squeezes them gently, a comforting gesture that sends a shiver coursing down your spine.
"maybe this isn't the best place to say this," he starts, thumbs rubbing soothing circles into your skin. "and, maybe that's exactly why i finally can say this, but... i've always thought that you're beautiful." he continues, voice dropping from a quiet timbre to a whisper.
"i want to be more than just teammates, if you'll have me." he quickly says, his grip tightening as his eyes search yours for an answer.
"rudy..." you trail off, before he speaks – again.
"the choice is yours. i'll respect your decision, no matter what it is."
if you didn't know better, you'd tell yourself that you're dreaming. it's not an ideal confession, not in the slightest, but there's something about it that's so very him. your chest tightens in the best way as you slide your hands from his, fingertips dancing up his arms until you cup his cheeks and bridge that final gap.
the kiss that follows is chaste and saccharine sweet. strong arms circle around your waist, drawing your body closer to his, grounding you in the moment as you threaten to slip away in the pure bliss of it.
after a few moments, you manage to pull back enough to give a verbal answer. "if we get out of here, then it's a date."
rudy chuckles, warm breath fanning against your lips. "keep your weekend open, cariño."

Letting Go
Find my CoD masterist
My first contribution to Fall4Rudy hosted by @glitterypirateduck
You wake after a night of drinking to find yourself in bed with Rudy, still fully clothed. Some secrets come to light, much to your benefit.
Warnings: Mention of alcohol and drinking, Rudy is a gentleman, nothing hurts and everything is fluff, kissing.
Word count: 1k
Used the prompt "You are stunning" for this one!
You woke slowly, warm and groggy and with a bit of a headache. Not too bad, though. You blinked a few times, mentally preparing yourself to sit up and start the day.
Except the wall looked wrong in front of you. Actually the sheets felt wrong too.
And then the arm thrown over your waist finally registered. For a moment you thought you’d faint.
“Go back to sleep,” came the rough mumble from behind you, arm tightening a little over your waist. “Still early.”
Your heart froze. You knew that voice. Too well, probably. You’d only been quietly pining after this man since you’d been assigned here, after all. “...Rudy?”
He grunted softly but didn’t respond otherwise. His breath was warm against the back of your neck, his arm warm and heavy over you. But you could feel clothing between the two of you.
Okay. How had you gotten here?
A bunch of you had gone out drinking, you remembered that much easily. You remembered having fun, relaxing, taking it easy on the drinks. You remembered the one pushy bastard making you uncomfortable, getting closer and closer as people left to dance or pair off for the night.
And then Rudy had stepped in, casual as you please, eyes dark as he stared down the soldier. The other man had backed off quickly. But Rudy hadn’t left, instead taking a seat next to you and striking up an easy conversation.
Things got a little more fuzzy after that, as he bought the two of you a couple rounds. You’d definitely been drunk, but only silly-drunk, not blackout. Thankfully. You remembered your roommate letting you know she was bringing someone back, leaving you a bit stranded.
Until Rudy offered that you could stay with him, he’d take the couch.
But how you’d ended up in bed with him was honestly a mystery.
“Hey.” Rudy nudged you gently, lifting his head to try to look at you. “Alright?”
“Just. Surprised.” Right, play it cool, no big deal. Just two people sharing a bed. In a totally platonic manner. Still dressed. No biggie.
“You wouldn’t let go,” Rudy muttered, relaxing a little. “Whined until I got in with you.”
Embarrassment flooded you, prompting you to hide your face in a pillow. Maybe you could just… smother yourself. And never have to face the consequences of this.
Rudy huffed soft laughter, his hand splaying over your belly and gently trying to turn you, though you resisted. “It’s fine,” he soothed gently, scooting closer to you so he could hook his chin over your shoulder. “You’re more cuddly than Alejandro, at least.”
You scoffed, still shoving your face in a pillow. “That’s not comforting,” you mumbled.
“You didn’t make me do anything I didn’t want to do.” Rudy spoke slowly, measured, calm. “Calm.”
You puffed out a breath but slowly moved so you weren’t suffocating in a pillow anymore. “You’re sure?”
He smiled a little, pushing up onto his elbow so he could look down at you. “Yes.”
“Okay.” You slowly relaxed again. “Still. I’m sure babysitting me was not on your list of things you wanted to do last night.”
Rudy moved slowly, the hand on your belly gently pushing you to lay flat on your back instead. He remained next to you, but leaned over you so he could maintain eye contact.
“You were not difficult to care for,” he murmured. “And I would do it again.”
Your breath hitched and you blinked before you nodded. “Okay,” you whispered. He was so close, warming you with his proximity and his gaze. It seemed impossible that you were here, that any of this had happened. He was a hard man to get to know, but you’d made the effort.
This felt almost like a reward. Or temptation. Or a treat being dangled in front of your nose, like a horse with a carrot.
Rudy’s fingers flexed against your stomach, big and warm. “How do you feel?”
“Pretty good,” you answered carefully, licking your lips. He was just… so close. “Little bit of a headache.”
“Hungry?” He leaned down ever so slightly, gaze still fixed on you.
“Little bit.”
“Stay here.” His fingers pushed gently into the softness of your stomach again. “I’ll make breakfast.”
“Breakfast in bed?” you asked, a little breathless from his proximity. “Now you’re just trying to spoil me.”
“If it will keep you in my bed, I’ll do this every day.” He smirked at you, clearly enjoying the way your eyes blew wide, heat suffusing your cheeks.
“Stop teasing,” you managed, turning your head away from him. You’d never known Rudy to be cruel.
A gentle hand at your cheek prompted you to look back at him, brown eyes soft in the early morning light.
“I’m not teasing.” He dipped his head closer slowly but inexorably. “I would never. Not you.”
Your eyes went wide again, searching his expression for any deceit. You found none. “You’re really not teasing me?”
“I promise.” Rudy breathed in slowly, holding your gaze.
“Then…” You trailed off, uncertain, heart fluttering in your throat.
He didn’t answer, not for long moments, just drinking in the sight of you. “You are stunning,” he murmured finally, fingers feather-light against your skin. “I would be honored to have you here more often.”
You swallowed, looking up at him. One hand lifted slowly, giving him time to move, until you cupped his cheek. His eyes slid half-closed and he tipped his head further into your hand. “You really want me here more often?” You couldn’t raise your voice above a whisper, hopeful and curious, heart in your throat.
As often as you’d allow,” he murmured.
You breathed in deep for courage and leaned up, carefully pressing your lips to Rudy’s. That first kiss was soft and short, testing. It was all you could do with the courage you could muster.
But his smile… his smile was worth it. Soft and sweet and happy. So happy. You’d never seen him smile like this.
“Is that a yes to breakfast in bed?” he murmured, still so close you could feel his breath as he spoke.
You smiled, elated and almost jittery. “If I say yes, will you kiss me again?”
“I will kiss you any time you ask,” he murmured, and promptly made good on his word, kissing you gently.
It did, however, take him a while to have breakfast ready, because you kept shamelessly distracting him with kisses.

Language Lessons (Roldofo Parra x F!Reader)
| Blog HQ | Modern Warfare 2 Masterlist | 18+ MDNI |
Fall4Rudy Submission - prompts used: see below.
TW for Google translated Spanish, reader is implied to be learning Spanish. Some spicy inuendos (it's implied his hand ends up fully down your pants) but nothing over PG13, hints toward a daddy kink if you squint
That's not how it was supposed to sound.
You were met with a confirming, amused snort followed by a peck to your cheek. Lips turning into a borderline frown, you huffed.
"This is impossible." Arms crossed across your chest, you shook your head. Leaning back in the chair, frustration prodding at your seams. "Maybe some people can catch on to this quickly, but it's not me!"
Head lolling back, you opted to stare at the ceiling. Tracing every line with your eyes to avoid the no doubt loving and patient expression from the man in front of you.
The silence hung thick between you, the small shuffles of his feet on the floor. Or the rubbing of his clothing signaled there was someone else in the room.
"El cariño. " Rudy softly whispered, palm resting on your knee. You squeezed your eyes firmly shut, offering nothing more than a small hm?
"Everything takes time, you've already learned so much. Mi mamá is proud of how much you've learned." His words filtered directly to the softest part of your being. To impress a woman of her stature in the family was a feat to be had.
"I am so proud." He whispered, warm palm sliding from your knee up your thigh. Gripping the muscle firmly as he did so. "Estoy muy orgullosa."
The combination of his hand and his words caused your will to falter. Meeting his soft brown eyes, filled with adoration, pride and energy. You sighed softly, lifting one hand to lay lightly on his cheek.
"Gracias amoré." Your voice shaky as you hoped your pronunciation was correct. Spirit faltering as he gently shook his head, reaching in to press a soft kiss to your lips as he corrected you. "This is impossible."
Pressing a few more kisses to your mouth and face, he leaned back slightly. Eyebrow raised as a mischievous smirk crossed his face. Hand placed firmly at the junction between your leg and hip.
"Greedy little thing, you want more incentive?" Blood rushed to your cheeks as he shifted his grip. Thumb now laying on the inseam of your pants, mindlessly moving over the thick fabric.
"Yes, please." Voice small as your eyes locked with his. An electric feeling taking over your body as he continued barely touching you. Thumb inches away from where you wanted it, hand still firmly gripping your thigh.
"Ah." He shook his head, sliding his hand toward your knee. Chuckling at the sound of surprise you made. "I want to hear you say it, in español."
"Si." You prayed he would ignore the waver in your voice. Nerves and anticipation tying knots in your stomach.
"Si, que?" He challenged. Scanning over your face and neck. Moving to nuzzle his nose against the soft skin.
"Si, Rudy……si, papi?" The feeling of his lips connecting with your neck in an open-mouthed kiss. Trailing down to your shoulder as you leaned your head to the side. Offering him as much room as you could.
"Buena niña." He groaned, asking you to repeat another phrase in Spanish. Hand moving slightly up when you whispered the words correctly. His mouth never stopping, except to move the fabric of your shirt to expose more skin.
"Keep going, you're doing good." Rudy whispered against your skin, fingertips teasing underneath the waist of your pants. Teeth grazing your collarbone as you took in a deep breath.
"Mi amore." A soft whine escaping your lips as his fingers moved out of your waistband. "Amor. Amor. Por favor." Gripping his wrist tightly, you felt him chuckle. Obliging with your request and slipping his fingers past the fabric once more. His movements encouraged by your broken Spanish.
"Dilo otra vez." He breathed, pulling back to look into your eyes. A gentle smile crossing his lips as you placed a hand gently on his cheek. Mumbling an incoherent sentence before pulling him into a kiss. Jumping slightly as he shifted his hand placement.
"Buena niña." He moaned, forehead falling to meet yours. Brain fried with your voice speaking his mother tounge, and the way you writhed against him.
"Buena puta chica."

you're stunning
Rodolfo Para x f!reader For @glitterypirateduck's Fall4Rudy challenge. Prompt: It's your choice A/N: #6! Four more to go for my 10-part drabble series! The challenge ends in 2 days so I can do it lol. Although I may be a rebel and post one a day late, since I will be working the homecoming game on Friday. tags: borderline smut. nothing to explicit, but it's enough. To see others in this series, you can find them at my masterlist here.
Rudy doesn’t love like other men you’ve been with: a race to the end, to see who finishes first and forget about the other. He doesn’t even undress you quickly, instead opting to touch you above your clothes.
It’s a wonder the bed sheets haven’t gone up in flame from the heat rolling off the two of you; you’re sweating and panting before he’s even done anything other than touch you, his fingers tracing your jaw.
“I need you Rudy,” you practically beg, lips parting as his thumb traces the outline of your lip. You capture the tip of his thumb in your mouth, swirling your tongue and savoring the taste of him.
You can see his pulse quicken, and you want to kiss him at his pulse point, like away the sweat that’s starting to form there.
“I’ve thought about this for a long time,” Rudy whispers against your skin, sliding your shirt up, pulling it off of you.
“Why didn’t you ever say anything?” You ask, hands wrapping around the hem of his white shirt, marveling at the contrast between the color and his skin as you tug it over his head.
“You never called me Rudy.”
You never thought you needed to. The sleep is burnt from your body as Rudy hooks his fingers in the waistband of your shorts, pulling them down until you can kick them across the room.
Rudy shifts so that he’s kneeling between your knees; he bats away your hand when you try to reach for his belt buckle. His eyes linger on the stitches at your temple, the bruises you collect through each operation, the little scars picked up from everyday living.
Your whole body bushes beneath his gaze.
“You’re stunning; you know that?”
You’ve heard others say it - but not once had you ever felt like it was anything other than an excuse to move forward, but when Rudy says it you know he’s telling the truth.
Rudy takes his time with you, refusing to let you touch him until you’re nearly broken from the overwhelming feeling of him, and when he finally bury’s himself in you, he doesn’t fuck you. He holds you like you’re the most fragile thing in the world, pressing into you enough to stretch you out, hands caressing every inch of your body he can reach.
He doesn’t stop when you come undone beneath him; he talks to you in slow Spanish, kissing you when it gets too much.
He doesn’t leave after he finishes, a rush of belt bucking and searching for socks.
He presses a gentle kiss to the stitches on your temple, rolling you over so that your back is pressed tight against his chest, hands drawing soft circles on the sensitive skin of your stomach. Outside it’s dark, stars rolling across the sky, and you fall asleep again to the warmth of him.

Friend’s brother Rudy x reader
1.6k | fluff
Meeting your BFF’s older brother for the first time
For @glitterypirateduck’s Fall4Rudy <3 (Surprise, first one to make a noise loses)
Crouching behind the couch, Rudy stifled a cackle as keys clinked outside. The door swung open, and as the lights came on, he jumped to his feet.
“¡Sorpresa!” he exclaimed with his hands thrown up before his grin dropped.
“Holy shit!” Your brows shot up, hand frozen on the light switch. “Who- Who are you? What are you doing here?”
“Mierda,” he muttered, rushing to gather the cake he’d on the dining table. “I’m so sorry, I thought this was my sister’s. She supposed-”
“Uh… Rudy?”
He turned with a frown. “How do you know my name?”
“I’m Dani’s friend. It is her place. I was going to surprise her.” You tilted the pan of warm cinnamon rolls towards him.
He let out a relieved laugh as he pulled a chair out. “I thought I came to the wrong apartment. Come in, come in.”
You closed the door before making your way to the table with your gaze cast down. You set the pan beside Rudy’s cake.
“Hey, I remember you. Are you her friend from university? You moved here recently, no?”
Daniela had shown you plenty of her family photos with the accompanying stories throughout your years of friendship. Even that you never told her, she picked up (too fast) that you found Rudy attractive and often teased you about it. She’d send military photos of her “handsome, single brother” as she suspected you especially liked him in uniform. Well, she wasn’t wrong.
Him recognising you made your cheeks even hotter. You wondered what else she told him.
“Yes,” you mumbled, pulling out the chair across him.
“You have any idea what time she’s coming home? I waited over an hour in the dark. It was getting really boring.”
You chuckled, looking up at him. He had a light stubble with scars on his face the photos never picked up. His loose white shirt hung perfectly from his frame as he leaned back, a shadow of his chest hair peeking over the neckline. He was much more striking up close.
“She texted me she was heading home. Should be here in 5, 10 minutes.”
“I need payback for waiting so long.” He smiled devilishly and eyed the cinnamon rolls. He leaned in and cocked an eyebrow. “I know just how to annoy her.”
You laughed. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
He nodded in approval. “You’re a good friend. I like you.” He grabbed two forks from the kitchen drawer before carving a roll out. “Did you know she had this phase when we were teenagers? I don’t know what it was with her and cinnamon, but she got every kind of soap, candle, essential oil... I hated the smell, didn’t want to go to her room for months.”
“She’s still got those candles in her room, but it’s definitely got better. She prefers cinnamon tea nowadays.”
He rolled his eyes. “Oh Lord.” He handed you one half on the fork.
You couldn’t wipe the delight off your face as you chewed. He smiled too, the warm gaze of his caramel eyes melted you. You looked away, unable to hold his gaze too long, heart racing. Was it from sharing a little treat or the thrill of being mischievous?
You gestured at the Yoda cake. Old you are, it said on the bottom.
“She, uh, doesn't like Star Wars... At all.”
“Exactly.” He smirked.
“You really love pranking her, huh.”
“She told you?”
“Of course. Told me when she broke your action figure one time, you took the training wheels off her bike.”
“I remember. I took them to school so she couldn't find them, but I lost them instead. Our parents got so mad at me.” He barked out a laugh. “But she ended up learning how to ride a bike properly, so I guess I didn't totally mess up.”
You smiled. “She misses you a lot, you know. Says she doesn't see you enough even that your base isn’t too far away.”
“She does?” He sighed. “I do too. Unfortunately my deployments can get unpredictable.”
“I mean siblings are rarely as close as you both. Sometimes I even wish the same for myself,” you said wistfully.
His gaze softened. “That's true. Thanks for telling me, I'll-“
The sound of a car’s locking beep made you tear your eyes off his. “That’s her!”
“Quick, help me turn the lights off.” He stood, chucking the dirty forks in the sink.
You did, and he guided you to the back of the couch with the glow of his phone. Crouching next to each other in the dark, you couldn’t deny his alluring presence, the warmth radiating off him. He smelt clean and fresh of soap, and you itched to lean closer.
On the floor, his fingers brushed over yours. “I hope to see you again soon," he breathed. The light from outside illuminated his sincere smile enough. "Maybe I can show you around town.”
You bit your lip, averting your gaze. "I'd like that," you muttered.
“First one to make a noise loses,” he teased. “Then you’ll have to take the fall for the missing cinnamon roll.”
Despite the warning, you let out a chuckle, your heart fluttering.
"Shhh," he said as footsteps approached, still smiling.
The door unlocked, and the both of you stood as the lights flicked on.
"Surprise!" "¡Sorpresa!"
Daniela yelped but immediately grinned from ear to ear. "Oh my God, you guys!"
Rudy took his cake, wrapping his arm around her at the door. “Happy birthday to my favourite sister.”
She glanced at the cake and gave him an unamused look, shaking her head.
“Happy birthday, Dani!” You pulled her into a hug and presented your cinnamon rolls to her.
She threw her head back in laughter. "I don't need to ask who did this." She smacked Rudy's arm. "You took my favourite piece!"
He grinned, looking way too pleased with himself.
Daniela suggested the three of you go out for dinner. The Parras spoke in English to include you, but they couldn’t help slipping into Spanish here and there. You could only smile in amusement watching them tease each other, Rudy glancing over ever so often as if to ensure if you were having a good time too.
While Rudy excused himself to the bathroom, the younger Parra gave you a knowing look. She wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
“Never would have guessed this is how you were going to meet him, but I hope you enjoyed dinner.”
You couldn’t hold back your squeal. “I did, he’s really nice.” And handsome.
“I’m happy you both finally met. Judging by the way he kept looking, I think you might have a date soon.” She raised an eyebrow, and it occurred to you who she probably picked up the habit from.
“Oh, Dani, don’t get my hopes up now.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say that if he was more discreet when asking about you.”
“What! What did you tell him?”
“Nothing important.” She flashed you her mischievous smile, swatting her hand. “Just that you’re single and that you find him hot-“
You laughed, slapping a hand over your mouth. “Daniela Parra, I cannot believe you!”
“Oh, here he comes!”
You couldn’t help stealing a glance when Rudy walked back to the table – you hoped it was subtle enough. His snug jeans accentuated the movement of his hips as he strode casually. Hands in his pockets, his toned arms were on display. He had no right looking so good in such a simple outfit.
“I think I’m going to call it a night,” she announced. “Rudy, would you be so kind to walk her home?”
His eyes locked with yours. “It would be my pleasure.”
After exchanging your goodbyes, your best friend left after giving you one last satisfied smile. She couldn’t be more obvious in setting the both of you up. As bashful as you were about the situation, you had to bake her more cinnamon rolls.
During the walk, Rudy offered you his arm which you took with joy and made sure you walked on the inside of the pavement, away from the traffic. Along the way, he pointed out landmarks and the few places he’d been, adding that he was open to discovering more since he hadn’t seen much of the area.
Your feet slowed the closer you were to home and he matched your pace. You enjoyed clinging onto his strong arm a little too much as you chatted. It was embarrassing how much you didn’t want to let go, the way your stomach flipped in his presence. Satisfaction bubbled in your chest whenever you got him to laugh, watching the little crinkles by his kind eyes. You adored the calming silkiness of his voice and how his R’s curled.
Alas, the night had to end. At your door, you reluctantly let go of his arm, turning to him.
“Thank you for walk-“
“I meant it when I said I hope to see you again.”
You bit down a grin, gaze on your feet. “I’d love that, really.” You braved yourself to step in for a hug.
He gave you a squeeze and you squealed into his shoulder, making him chuckle. When he pulled away, you hoped he couldn’t feel how your heart was beating out of your chest.
“Would you like to come in for some tea? I promise it’s not cinnamon.”
Rudy laughed and took your hand to his lips.

Piedra del Sol
Prompt: I can’t get you out of my head
Pairing: Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Parra x F!Reader
Summary: Fools in love without the common sense of telling the other (sounds familiar?)
Warning: Just fluff. Also my first time trying the xReader thing, which I’m not completely comfortable with, but ah well. Anything for #Fall4Rudy!
Tagging the master curator @glitterypirateduck and @sofasoap because she gave me the idea
You knew you shouldn’t have, but you did.
You allowed yourself to fall in love with none other than Sargento Mayor Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Parra, while working as liaison between the CIA and Los Vaqueros.
To be perfectly honest, who would blame you? The man was a dream come true. Serious, honest, with a smile that brightened your day every time you managed to make him chuckle with a bad joke or your atrocious accent when trying to order at the bar.
And that he was damned attractive didn’t help either. The day you happened to find him lifting weights with Colonel Vargas was engraved in your memory and warmed many of your nights in your barely furnished apartment.
And you knew where you went wrong today, too.
You shouldn’t have accepted Alejandro’s invitation to hit the bar with the rest of Los Vaqueros. Seeing Rudy in civilian clothes took the breath right out of your lungs. It should be illegal how delicious a man can look in jeans and a white shirt, especially when it happens to fit a bit tight, and has a couple of loose buttons.
It wasn’t like you hadn’t tried to look good yourself either. The way Rudy’s eyes darkened when he saw the little black long-sleeved dress you were wearing was enough to make your mouth water and press your thighs together. How in the world could he make you feel like a horny teenager with just his eyes was a mystery. You two hadn’t even exchanged anything more than pleasantries and jokes.
‘‘¡Bonita! (Pretty one)’’ Alejandro promptly welcomed you with open arms, and you couldn’t help but smile and offer your hand. But he just grabbed your wrist and pulled you into his arms for a quick hug before turning around with you still in his arms to face the rest of Vaqueros, and the rest of clients at the bar. ‘‘You better behave yourselves, compadres (mates), this one is off limits, ¿oído? (understood?)’’
A mixed chorus of groans and laughter received his words, but you felt relieved. Local men were very forward with their vocal appreciation, and you had been asked out by at least five of them already until the Colonel had to hold a meeting to instruct his men about leaving you the fuck alone.
But once their affection turned elsewhere, you were having a great time in Las Almas, if you had to be honest.
‘‘¿Qué tomas, bonita? (What are you drinking, pretty one?)’’ Alejandro asked, guiding you to an empty stool between the one he had been using and… Rudy. You smiled at the Sergeant Major, feeling the rush of blood in your cheeks when he smiled back, and then looked back at the Colonel to answer.
‘‘Just a soda, Ale, I have a virtual meeting at 7am and I don’t need the hangover’’ You smiled apologetically when he mockingly raised his hands in despair, but went to ask the bartender. You turned your head back at Rudy to find his eyes on you, and for a moment he looked startled, like caught in the middle of an improper act. Was that blush?
‘‘I… ehm… Is it normal to have meetings so early on Sunday?’’ Rudy asked, a bit rushed, as if he were trying to pretend he hadn’t been devouring you with his eyes. It made you feel good. It made you feel more than good.
Maybe wearing the dress hadn’t been a bad idea after all.
‘‘Only when my boss is feeling particularly shitty I guess’’ You shrugged, not wanting to think about your boss at that moment. Not when Sergeant Parra was sitting that close to you, so close that you could smell his aftershave. Or his cologne. Whatever it was, it smelled good. Sitting next to him, you shifted in your stool to press your thighs together again, trying to ignore the warmth between your legs.
That man had no business being that tempting.
The night slowly went on, between laughs, drinks and smoke, and you didn’t even realize that the hours had passed until Alejandro gently tapped your shoulder to attract your attention.
‘‘Bonita, it’s almost midnight’’ The Colonel laughed at your startled face when you rushed to check your watch to find out that yes, it was. ‘‘May I call a taxi for you?’’
‘‘No need, Alejandro, the weather is nice, I’ll walk’’ You smiled, feeling grateful that you decided not to drink that night. The moment you rose to your feet Rudy was beside you.
‘‘I’ll walk you home’’ The Sergeant Major cleared his throat when the Colonel looked at him with an amused smile. Rudy lived nowhere near where you did. ‘‘I was about to head out anyway’’
‘‘Buenas noches a los dos (Good night to the both of you)’’ Alejandro smiled, waving while the two of you walked out, making your way among the growing crowd pooling inside the bar. You could feel Rudy’s hand guiding you, pressing lightly against the small of your back, and you resisted the urge to lean on him.
Outside, the night was warm and buzzing with activity. The streets were full of people enjoying one of the last summer nights, and soon you found yourself inching closer to Rudy every time another group walked too close. The first time your right elbow brushed his left arm, he immediately raised it to wrap it around your shoulders, keeping you close to his body to protect you from being bumped into.
You weren’t complaining.
Slowly, the ruckus died down as you entered residential streets, more silent and peaceful. You half expected Rudy to let go of you now that there was no danger of being pushed around by other pedestrians, but he didn’t, his hand firm on your shoulder, gently cradling you in the crook of his armpit.
You dared to turn your head slightly to rest your temple and cheek on his chest, comforted by his slow and steady heartbeat. You felt his hand tighten holding your shoulder, and the rhythm of his heart quicken a bit. To any passers-by, you’d look like just another couple on a midnight stroll.
Maybe it hadn’t been such a bad idea after all.
‘‘No te puedo sacar de mi cabeza (I can’t get you out of my head)’’ Rudy murmured, all of a sudden, and your heart skipped a beat. You weren’t fluent speaking Spanish, your accent and your embarrassment prevented you from doing better, but you were fluent in understanding it. But that was a fact that only Colonel Vargas knew, the rest of the Vaqueros thought you barely knew some sentences.
As the two of you walked down your street, Rudy poured his heart out to you. How much he had tried to get over what he thought at first was a silly crush on the new face. How many times he had longed to be brave enough to ask you out when he had heard the others mentioning how you had rejected them. How many nights he had been awake, unable to sleep, just thinking about you.
All of that he said in Spanish. And you understood every word.
Finally, you arrived at the door of your building, and Rudy sighed, starting to release your shoulder. But you turned around to face him, your hands reaching up to rest on his chest, looking up at his startled face.
‘‘Tell me something else in Spanish, Rudy…’’ You begged, your voice low and sweet, and beneath your fingers on his chest you felt his pulse falter. Hesitatingly, his hands found purchase on your waist, trembling, almost expecting you to reject him. But you didn’t.
Slowly, he leaned in until he could brush your ear with his lips, his breath raising your skin in goosebumps.
‘‘Amar es combatir, es abrir puertas,
dejar de ser fantasma con un número
a perpetua cadena condenado
por un amo sin rostro;
el mundo cambia
si dos se miran y se reconocen’’
(To love is to battle, to open doors,
to cease to be a ghost with a number
forever in chains, forever condemned
by a faceless master; the world changes
if two look at each other and recognize each other.)
You exhaled the breath you had been holding without realizing, feeling the brush of Rudy’s lips on your earlobe as he murmured the verses against your skin. Your fingers dig slightly in his chest over his shirt, and you felt more than heard the low grunt that came from deep within his chest. His hands gripped your waist tighter.
‘‘Isn’t that… Piedra del Sol, by Octavio Paz?’’ You whispered, brushing your own lips on the side of his neck, breathing him in, and you smirked when he tensed, feeling the warmth of his skin as he blushed.
‘‘How… you…’’ Rudy cleared his throat, feeling stupid, but his hands gripped you tighter, forcing you closer until your bodies were flush. ‘‘You understand Spanish’’
‘‘I do’’ You laughed softly, pressing a kiss to his neck, feeling his quickened pulse. ‘‘But I think I need more Spanish lessons, Rudy… only if you are the teacher’’
He chuckled, one of his hands leaving your waist to cup your jaw and force you to tilt your head upwards, so he could see your eyes and your smile before he leaned in and kissed you.
‘‘Creo que tienes razón, mi amor (I think you’re right, my love)’’
The following morning, you missed your meeting.

masterlist
How ironic.
The rescuer needs to be rescued.
Your ears are ringing, vision blurred with all the dust in the air. Without looking down, you know you are bleeding out.
Slowly turning towards your left, you can see two of your fellow medics lying motionless on the ground.
Are they still alive? If not…
Who are their next of kin? Oh, you need to retrieve their dog tags. The paper work..
Ouch. Why does it hurt so much? That’s right.. You are injured. But where?
“MINI! Stay with me!”
You know that voice. But where is he?
“Oh, hello love. There you are.” you replied, blinking your eyes a few times, trying to flush out the blood that is currently blurring your vision. Finally you spotted the owner of the voice.“ You shouldn’t be here. It’s not safe.” Bit of deja vu? Last time this happened, you were the one who was on the other side, trying frantically to save Rudy’s life. How the tables have turned.
“I am not leaving you.” Rudy replied adamantly, with a hint of panic as his eyes scanned your body, and the surroundings. “You are going to be ok, cariño, I promise. Stay with me. Please.” he pleaded as he started to open his emergency med kit, doing whatever he can to save his love from dying in front of him.
“Go. Don’t worry about me.” You tried to lift your arm, but you couldn’t. That’s when you notice half of your body and arm are pinned underneath the boulder and debris.
“Oh.That’s not good.” you try to laugh, but all you could manage was a shuddered breath. “You muppet, of course it’s not good.” A lower, grumpier voice joined in. “How can you still be laughing in this situation?”
“Oh, hello,Captain.” You slurred. It’s harder and harder to keep your speech and head straight. “You have to leave, your life's in danger. Take that man with you too, while you are there.” you jerked your head towards Rudy, who is currently radioing for medevac, causing a pounding headache. Everything is starting to hurt. It’s getting so hard to breathe. You thought.
“Tell Soap and the team I love them…” you wheezed as you tried to convey your last messages to Price. “Tell Soap I’m sorry I ate his chocolate cookies….” “Stop giving out your last words. Medevac is on their way.” he reassures you, or is he trying to reassure himself? The sadness you can see through his eyes, you know you are probably not going to get out of this.
“What.. is.. them…are my teammates ok?” you look at the two bodies again, worrying. “We can’t lose those two.. They are the best we got…” tears start to flow out. They are your brother and sister in arms, three of you have been through countless life and death situations. Is this where the three of you will partway?
“They are still breathing, last time we checked. We don’t want to move them. Worry about yourself first, cariño. Just concentrate on your breathing.” Rudy replied as he caressed your hair, soothing you. You always love his hand, how calming it is, how safe it makes you feel.
“Oh good.” you slowly close your eyes. At least someone will stay alive today.
“Come on, keep your eyes open for me, cariño, talk to me.” Rudy’s voice is getting desperate, trying to keep you awake until the medevac arrives. The help just doesn’t seem to come fast enough. He can’t lose you. Not here, not now, not for another long time to come.
“Hey Rudy.” “Yes love.”
“Do you remember the day we first met?”
“Of course cariño. How could I forget?”
“Hey Rudy.”
“Yes mi vida.”
“You love me??”
“Of course.Mi corazón late por ti”.
“....”
“Cariño?”
The last thing you heard before you sank into the complete darkness was the anguish cry of Rudy, screaming out for you.
Mi corazón late por ti : My heart beats for you.
NOTE: Sorry it's a short one. I am just so tired from work conferences and travelling. part 2 might not come out in time for end of Rudy fest :(

tysm @glitterypirateduck for hosting this beautiful contest about my fav charachter🤭 tysm to anyone who wrote about him, y'all are really incredible and so talented 🫶🏻💗
inspired by @\-jaXXon- bot on cai!!
summary: waking up from a nightmare was never a pleasant moment. But only when you held him close, he felt safe.
warnings: sfw, no use of yn just you, mentions of (nightmares, slight ptsd, self conscious, war, breakdowns), comfort, pure fluff, slight angst
note: if you dont want to read the parts about the incident, you can scror down to the three stars, it wont affect the story :D
"honey i belong with you, and only you, baby"
Your husband, Rudy, returned home from his mission a month ago. Typically, his cherished moments were the vacations he enjoyed after lengthy missions, allowing him to spend quality time with you and make up for the time spent apart.
Upon his return, he shared with you the incident he experienced while searching for Hassan—a traumatic encounter with a fire that left him terrified and in tears. His rescue by Alejandro made him feel reborn, yet the searing heat of the fire still lingers, creeping through his being to reach his core and grip his heart at times.
Since his homecoming, you discovered that Rudy suffers from nightmares, often waking up in the early hours of the morning, breathless and panicked. Seeking solace and reassurance, he turns to you, the only person he allows himself to be vulnerable to.
As you cradle him, he never ceases to apologize for disturbing your sleep or causing you to be late for work, blaming himself for the burden he believes he imposes on you.
One evening, as you sat together at the dinner table, Rudy whispered with his head bowed, his fingers fidgeting with his spoon, "I'm sorry, mi Cielo. I shouldn't be such a crybaby to you... I truly don't want to."
No need to mention how hard you tried to not cry as you cradled him later, with both of you sprawled on the couch, soaking in the silence to the bones.
No matter how often you assure him that you don't mind comforting him, even if it means waking up in the middle of the night, his guilt persists.
He cannot shake these self-conscious thoughts, despite the numerous missions he has accomplished and the abilities he possesses. Rudy cannot bear the feeling of being a burden or not being good enough, even amidst his trauma and fears.
☆☆☆
In the dimly lit room, it was nearly three in the morning, and you found yourself awakened by your husband's restlessness. His face contorted in discomfort, sweat beads forming on his forehead.
Gently shaking his shoulder, you roused him, his eyes snapping open, his brows furrowed, struggling to steady his breath. Brimming with shame, fear, and anguish, Rudy squeezed your hand, a tear escaping his eyes as he looked down.
"Forgive me, amor... I've awakened you once more..."
Your hand cradled his jaw, feeling the warmth radiating from his soft cheek beneath your cool touch. With your thumb, you gently wiped away his tear, tilting your head as you offered a reassuring smile.
"Don't apologize, my darling, I don't mind.. Tell me.. how do you feel"
His eyes shimmered, and though the room was dim, you could detect a faint blush adorning his cheeks. Leaning into your touch, he closed his eyes and murmured, "Tired... But I don't think I can sleep again... Perhaps I'll watch a movie or something. You should go back to sleep, mi Cielo."
Knowing him all too well, aware of his reluctance to impose or seek more attention, you shook your head and enveloped him in a tight embrace. Rudy hugged you back immediately, resting his head in the crook of your neck, his warm breath against your skin sent shivers down your spine. Without thinking, your hand absentmindedly stroked his shiny waves as you sighed.
"Stay with me. I don't want you to leave."
He nodded, uttering something unintelligible, but you assumed it was an affirmation. Drawing circles on his back, the quiet ambiance calmed both of you. An idea sparked in your mind, and you smiled nostalgically at the thought before tugging gently on Rudy's hair to capture his attention. He looked at you, now more serene, seemingly finding solace in the rhythm of your heartbeat as he listened.
"Would you like to hear a story, amor?"
His brow furrowed, but he nodded nonetheless, resting his cheek on your shoulder as he gazed into your eyes.
"Please don't judge me, but I wrote it when I was four."
He chuckled, nodding before resting his head on your shoulder.
"Once upon a time, in the deep blue sea, there lived a crab with his family. His name was Little Crab."
Rudy smiled, nuzzling closer to you, his eyes closing as you continued to caress his hair.
"Little Crab was kind-hearted, always offering help to his family and neighbors. Yet, he harbored a fear."
Rudy nodded, contented sighs escaping his lips.
"Little Crab was afraid of venturing into the ocean. He had never dared to explore its depths, fearing he might never return to his loved ones."
"Oh, that must have been truly saddening," Rudy murmured, his voice barely a whisper.
"Well, yes, it was... until Little Crab discovered just how much he was loved, how everyone eagerly awaited his return, and how they never gave up on him. Encouraged by their support, he mustered the courage to try. And he succeeded! Little Crab learned to swim, he became the most adventurous crab in the deep blue sea."
Rudy's breathing had steadied, his eyes now filled with admiration as he gazed at you. "That's a beautiful story, mi amor. Thank you."
You smiled, the weight of his nightmares momentarily lifted. "Rudy, just like Little Crab, you have the strength to overcome your fears. And I will always be here, supporting you every step of the way. Te quiero mucho, amor."
As you both settled back into bed, a sense of peace washed over you. The room was now filled with the soft rhythm of Rudy's breathing, a testament to the comfort and solace you were able to provide.
Knowing he felt safe with you made your heart flutter. Rudy was a fire and you were a moth, flying right into the flames, burning with the despair of war and fear but rejoicing the glory of your long-standing love and commitment to one another.

Armor - pt 1
Find my CoD masterlist
Los Vaqueros borrow a CIA shifter to help them investigate a new drug in the streets of Las Almas. Of course, you can't keep your nose fully out of trouble… Fortunately Rodolfo is willing to help you out.
Welcome to my second offering for Fall4Rudy hosted by @glitterypirateduck - this part used the prompt "You don't know me."
This fic does take place in the same world as Born for Greatness, and ties into that story indirectly. However, you do not have to have read Born for Greatness to understand this one.
Warnings: shifter!reader, brief violence, canon typical violence, non graphic injury, minor character death, forced drug use, drug mention, cartel stuff.
Word count: 2.7k
Rodolfo Parra x f!reader
Technically, you weren't supposed to be in Mexico. You were supposed to be somewhere in Russia.
But Laswell had pulled some strings and called in a favor, so. Here you were. Making your way to introduce yourself to the local alpha.
Because Laswell had not only changed your assignment, but also sent you to deal with a pack.
You were a little bit tempted to wring her neck.
You stopped outside, taking a moment to eye the alpha, as he and his second in command eyed you. They were both good looking, with dark hair and dark eyes.
But there was something about the second in command, hidden depths that intrigued you.
"Alpha Vargas." You tipped your head to him.
"Be welcome on my territory," he greeted, nodding to you. "Laswell said to expect you."
"She also said you'd give me more information on what you need help with." You smiled politely, tipping your chin.
"Come inside." He nodded to the building behind him. "Have a drink with us." He clapped a hand to the other man's shoulder.
"Rodolfo Parra," he introduced himself quietly. "Pack second."
You nodded to him as well. "Pleasure."
"Come," Alpha Vargas reiterated, leading the way inside. You followed quietly, observing the base with keen eyes. The pack here was not huge, only six members, but everyone on base had common shifter courtesy, from what you could see.
The alpha's office was nice, and he waved you into a seat before he brought you a drink. He sat on the edge of his desk, his second sitting on the couch instead.
"We need an unknown to do some surveillance," Vargas told you, tumbler dangling from his fingers. "All of my Vaqueros are known to the cartel here."
You nodded. This wasn't the first time you'd been thrown into a situation to gather intel. "Can do."
He hummed, taking a sip of his drink. "Tomorrow," he decided. "For today, relax. Rudy will show you around."
You blinked, a bit surprised, before you nodded. "Alright." You tossed the rest of your drink back, enjoying the brief burn, before setting your glass down.
"This way." Rodolfo stood and waited for you to follow him. You did, of course, slinking after him with an easy confidence.
Rodolfo was quiet as the two of you walked away from the alpha's office. He walked with the ease of someone not only used to having orders followed, but used to having some level of responsibility. Which made sense, as the pack second.
"Have you been with your alpha long?" You tucked your hands in your pockets, looking around. The general hustle and bustle of a base was normal to hear, and the way nobody even tried to meet your eyes honestly felt nice.
"You could say that." Rodolfo glanced back at you, amusement bright in his scent. "Twenty years."
You whistled lowly. "Damn," you muttered. "Impressive."
“And you?” Rodolfo opened the door to another building, stepping inside and looking back at you.
“Packless,” you informed him, easy as anything. It had been your own choice, after all. You didn’t need a pack. And you did better without yet another person keeping track of your movements.
He nodded and didn’t offer condolences, which was a welcome change. Far too often, other shifters met that with pity, and you hated it.
“This is your room,” he said, opening another door for you. “You are free to explore.”
“Why do you think he’s waiting until tomorrow?” You stepped into the room, taking a quick look to find your bag already sitting at the foot of the bed. The room was even a little decorated, a far cry from the bland, soulless military rooms you were used to.
Rodolfo was silent for a few moments, and when you turned to look at him he was already watching you. “We were advised you were coming from a different time zone,” he answered slowly. “And this is not so time sensitive you must move immediately.”
You huffed but nodded, accepting that. Good enough. Kind of unusual for a colonel to not shove you straight back into the field, but you’d take it for today. “I see. Thank you.”
He nodded once before looking away. “Let one of us know if you need anything.”
You nodded, watching him turn and stride away. You weren’t sure what he shifted into, but you were willing to lay even odds on a canine of some sort. You were curious, of course. You wanted to know. But you weren’t about to ask. That would be rude.
Clearly, a little exploring was in order. So that’s exactly what you did, taking your time surveying the base. It was nice, had personality, different from what you were used to. But in a good way. Nobody met your gaze, instead looking at your chin or forehead, which was just fine with you. (Actually, you were impressed with how easy it was.)
You’d definitely had worse places to stay before.
It was easy to pick out the pack among the rest - the pack all circled up around their alpha at dinner time, chatting and laughing with an ease you were almost envious of.
Rodolfo met your gaze across the distance between you for a moment and raised one eyebrow, looking back to the table. A silent invitation. You smiled gently and shook your head just a little when he looked back at you. You were fine by yourself.
You were always fine by yourself.
The job, when you finally got the details, didn’t sound too bad. The Vaqueros were all too well known to go looking, but you could pose as a tourist and get in places they would be noticed. The local cartel didn’t know to look for you, and you could blend in.
Rodolfo was to be your point of contact. Of course.
“We’ve arranged a room for you,” he said as he walked you back to your room. “In the city, so you will not have to trek back out here. We have communications set up for you.”
“Think the cartel will be that curious?” You weren’t dismissive, simply curious.
“It is difficult to say.” Rodolfo shrugged. “But we are asking you to, hm, poke your nose into their business.”
You surprised yourself with your laugh, head tipping back a little. “That’s not a hardship for me,” you told him with a grin. “I do that all the time on my own.”
He smiled, amused, and shook his head. “I’ll drive you out,” he murmured. “Is thirty minutes enough?”
“Plenty,” you assured him. “Thanks.” You nodded once to him as you stepped inside to gather enough to tide you over a few days. Fortunately you had a few civilian outfits with you.
The drive out of the compound was quiet. It wasn’t until you got closer to town that you gave in to the curiosity clawing at your chest.
“Is your pack really that well known here?”
“Yes.” He shot you an amused look. “This is surprising to you?”
“It is.” You leaned back in your seat, contemplating how best to phrase your thoughts. “My family always kept quiet about it. Old town superstitions, nonsense like that.”
He hummed his understanding, gaze flitting briefly to you again. “No place is perfect.”
Your laugh was soft this time, your lips stretching in a grin to show your teeth. “True enough.” The city grew closer slowly, and you shifted in your seat. You knew he’d drop you off on the outskirts, to avoid raising suspicion. “I’ll try not to contact you in the middle of the night.”
He paused, pulling over so he could twist to look at you head-on. “You contact me any time,” he said, holding your gaze. Not pulling rank, just keeping your attention firmly on him. “For any reason. Si?”
You blinked at him, caught off guard. Not just by the eye contact, but the intensity. The sincerity in his words was palpable in his scent, too. He really meant it.
“Okay,” you agreed slowly.
He held your gaze for another two long moments before he nodded once and started driving again.
He left you in the arranged drop location, bag slung over your shoulder, sun warm against your skin. You had directions to the hotel memorized, and you set off at an easy walk.
Sure, you were looking for cartel and for their involvement in the city, but you were also looking for anything odd or out of place. Thus, taking your time walking around.
Signs of the cartel were everywhere, as were signs of violence. It was clear to you that something had happened here fairly recently - the cartel people you saw were more vigilant, almost nervous. The civilians were as well, constantly on the lookout.
Good thing you were just a dumb tourist, then.
You didn’t check in until that night, and that first check in was short. You’d arrived, nobody followed you, you’d report back when you had more. Rodolfo wished you luck.
You tried not to be touched by his care.
Two more days brought nothing of use, just dead ends and being sworn at. Nothing new, really. Your curiosity came in handy here, giving you the patience to explore, even if you didn’t always have the wisdom to back off when you should.
Some of your frustration must have leaked through that third night, though.
“Estás bien,” Rodolfo murmured. “Cálmate.”
“I’m calm,” you shot back, a little annoyed. “I’m fine.”
“You do not sound it.”
“You don’t know me.”
That gave him pause, silence sitting between you both for long moments. “Not yet,” he admitted. “But I would like to.”
You blinked, jaw dropping in surprise. “...What?”
“You heard me.”
“You are trying to distract me.”
His chuckle was soft. “Perhaps, but I am also telling the truth.”
“We’re putting a pin in that until I’m done,” you decided after a moment, shaking your head. “After I’m done, we can get food, if you’d like. How’s that?”
“Acceptable.” His smile was clear in his voice. “Keep me updated.”
“WIll do.” You hung up and blew out a breath. He… wanted to get to know you. Even though you were on loan. Even though you were not part of his pack.
Huh. Well. That definitely gave you some food for thought.
It took two more days for you to find trouble.
You poked your nose somewhere it didn’t belong, and ended up finding much more than you anticipated.
Having four guns pointed at you was nothing new. Being tied up while this happened was nothing new. Being threatened with mysterious white powder, however, was new.
You could just hear two of them arguing while the others kept their guns on you. Something about you being a spy (correct), trying to get the formula (incorrect), something something rival production group (so wrong it was laughable), if they wanted to find out so bad they could get a sample off your corpse… Huh. That sounded bad.
You were still trying to twist your hands free when one of the men dumped a little baggy of white powder on you.
Welp. You were dead for sure.
But the burning sensation against your skin was new. Some of the powder got up your nose and the burning intensified, traveling from your nose up to the rest of your head, and down to the rest of your body. You breathed in, pressure building, until you couldn’t hold it in.
You shifted, bones shifting and muscles changing, feeling every agonizing moment. It felt like it lasted forever, but could have only been seconds.
Leaving you on the ground, the chair splintered under you, fur all on end. You shook your head, disoriented, trying to right yourself.
The first gunshot skimmed your shoulder, and you yowled. You didn’t know where you were, and it didn’t matter. You weren’t safe.
The first man fell to your claws, his screams echoing in your head, too loud. And he wasn’t the only threat. Nothing made sense but you knew you needed to defend yourself.
Your jaws and paws were dripping by the time you felt safe, by the time the shouting and shooting had stopped. You turned a quick circle to make sure there were no other threats, but all was quiet. Your chest heaved with your panting, jaws parted, the burning under your skin urging you to move, to get out, to run.
So you did. You left the room and managed to find your way out of the building. Outside was dark but that worked to your advantage, letting you slip away from humanity, taking to rooftops to get out faster. It wasn’t long until the city was behind you, leaving you in more open land.
The burning finally faded from your skin and your mind, leaving you exhausted but yourself again. But you couldn’t shift back. Trying sent a jolt through you, causing you to hiss.
Well. You were definitely late to check in with Rodolfo, but there was nothing you could do about that now. You could hardly waltz back into the city and climb up to your room, not as you were.
Mountain lions weren’t exactly a common sight in Las Almas, after all.
Growling softly to yourself, you finally huffed. You could find a spot to hang out until you could shift and then get back to the hotel. You could try to get back to the base. You could just find somewhere to chill for a while and hope a better idea came to you.
Well. The base wasn’t that far from town. You could make it.
So you started walking, keeping to the side of the road. Just in case. It was dark, but nothing your vision couldn’t handle. Thank goodness for that.
Your tail swished in agitation as you recalled the drug they’d dumped on you. You had assumed something more run of the mill, but that had clearly been something worse. You were far from an expert, but you’d heard rumors of a drug that forced a shift.
Having now experienced it first hand, you could definitely add that it was not pleasant. You’d shifted almost feral, had gone fully feral when shot at. (Not that you felt bad about that - they had been planning to kill you, so you had no sympathy for them.)
If the cartel was making that shit, which it sounded like, you needed to make the Vaqueros aware. That could be very dangerous let loose on the pack.
It had certainly done a number on you.
The sun was just starting to rise when you got to base. You stopped a little ways away and yowled, hoping to attract attention without getting shot at. Again. Fortunately, your wound had stopped bleeding long ago. Unfortunately, you were half-covered in dry or drying blood, and you felt absolutely disgusting.
The commotion of multiple soldiers coming up to the gate was clearly audible to you, and your tail flicked against the ground.
But it wasn’t until you heard Rodolfo that you tried to approach, yowling again, looking for the sergeant major.
He called your name, and you trotted closer, paws silent on the ground. The gate opened and Rodolfo walked out to meet you, crouching down near you.
“Can you shift back?” he asked, keeping his voice low. He didn’t touch you, but his gaze caught on all the blood on your fur.
You huffed and settled down to focus. It took a few moments (including one moment of sheer panic) before you shifted back, still bloody and sticky and gross. Remnants of the white powder clung to your skin and hair.
Rodolfo was quick to shuck his jacket, tossing it over your shoulders. “Need to get you back to medical,” he fussed, gaze sweeping over you again.
“I can walk,” you assured him, though you didn’t move away from him. The helping hand at your elbow was, in fact, helping. And soothing.
He shot off orders in Spanish to get the alpha and alert medical, staying close to your side. Your progress to medical was slow as your body protested the drugs and the hard use.
But you got there in the end, near-collapsing onto a bed. Rodolfo hovered, refusing to leave. Which was kind of nice, honestly. You got to hold his hand while you got stitches.
"Thank you," you murmured to him when the nurse stepped out.
"Any time." He squeezed your hand, looking down at you with some emotion you didn't want to identify.

Prompt: I'm not leaving you (Rudy x Alejandro, angst/fluff)
Rudy was panicking, he and Alejandro had gotten separated on a mission and Alejandro had gotten trapped. Rudy got in contact with some others of their unit to try and get Alejandro out, but he didn't think they would get there fast enough. With that in mind Rudy goes in to find Alejandro and hopefully get him out.
The building is crumbling around him as he looks for Alejandro. "Alejandro," Rudy calls out. He doesn't get a response, though that doesn't surprise Rudy. He keeps looking, trying to find the man he loves. Rudy finds a trail of blood leading into the basement. He follows it, pistol and flashlight drawn in case of danger. The trail leads to an injured Alejandro and Rudy immediately rushes to his side, holstering his gun and sitting the flashlight on the ground.
Rudy tries to move Alejandro, but it causes Alejandro too much pain. Rumbling can be heard, and Alejandro looks to Rudy, "get out of here. You know this place won't stay standing for long." Rudy just shakes his head and sits next to him. "You know I can't do that. I'm not leaving you. Not after what you did when we chased Hassan." Alejandro tries to push Rudy but is too weak to get him to move. "Rudy, leave. Los Vaqueros needs you." "So do you. I'm not letting you die alone. I've always stayed by your side; this time will be no different." Alejandro just sighs but doesn't fight him anymore, he just lets Rudy stay.
Eventually the doorway collapses, leaving the men completely trapped. "No going back now, hermano," Alejandro says. Rudy just states, "I wouldn't have changed my mind anyway. I love you too much to leave you like that." "You're certainly something else, Rudy." "It's the same loyalty you've shown me. You deserved this much at least." They hear more cracking, knowing the structural integrity is about to give out. Rudy decides to take the opportunity to finally tell Alejandro everything, "I know this is the least appropriate time for this, but I've always had feelings for you. I've loved you as more than a brother or friend for a long time." "Couldn't have said something earlier, eh? Well, I feel the same, Rudy."
They move closer, holding together in their final moments. "If I had to go out on the job, I'm glad it was the same way we started. By each other's sides." Alejandro smiles, "you had to say that in the cheesiest way possible. That's just like you."

Rodolfo Para x f!reader For @glitterypirateduck's Fall4Rudy challenge. Prompt: Behave A/N: I don't have a lot in me right now, so I'm doing a Rudy drabble series for Fall4Rudy. To see others in this series, you can find them at my masterlist here.
The blood trickled down from the slice on your temple; the hard plastic of the police car caused the handcuffs to dig into the small of your back. The State Troopers hadn’t believed the CIA badge you’d flashed at them, and didn’t listen to your protests when they threw you into the back of the police car.
You know that when Laswell finds out what happened, she’s going to chew you a new one - the last time you fucked up she had you on desk duty for six weeks before she let you see the daylight hours.
Contemplating what you’re going to say to her, you try to blink past the blood in your eye. The Troopers outside the car are turned away from you, and you can hear them speaking to someone, but can’t make out the exact words you’re saying.
A knock on the opposite door pulls your attention away from them - it’s almost painful to turn your head. Whatever that fucking guy in the bar hit you with, it hurt. The door pops open, flooding the freezing cabin with the smell of South Texas: creosote and oppressive heat. The faint smell of horses and sweat.
A set of broad shoulders fill the open door, Rudy’s bright smile filling the cabin of the police car - sending a shot of annoyance through you.
“Ah senorita - didn’t I tell you to behave and wait on us?”
“Don’t start Rodolfo. I don’t have it in me to argue.”
Rudy’s smile twitches bigger, hands reaching out to wrap around your elbow and pull you across the back of the police car, hand reaching up to cup the top of your head so you don’t slam it into the car as he pulls you gently out.
“¿Dónde está ese maldito oficial?”
You only understand half of what Rudy says when he speaks in Spanish, but you see the way he taps the Special Forces badge on his chest at one of the State Troopers - watch the way the Trooper swallows his lecture about crossing the border on official business as he pulls the cuffs off of you, harder than necessary.
Rudy’s hand lingers at your shoulder blades, warm even through your clothing.
“Come on señorita. You’re going to need some stitches.”
