Well shit. Ok, longish gab.
Timeline accelerated.
I'm old, retired and changing fields. Back in school for Landscape Architecture at the local community college. The goal is to get into the field of urban forestry, and hopefully work with/for cities or a city to help plant trees to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Recently, finally, got all of my previous credits transferred from other schools. I didn't know there was a "fast track" program that allows me to skip some required classes since I already have a Bachelors degree (General Studies, one class short of three different majors: Geology Russian and Arabic).
I had already chosen my classes for this semester: three required classes and one 'fun' but useful class: Intro to Drone Technology. This gets you the FAA Part 107 Certificate, which allows you to fly drones for commercial purposes. This is apparently a good resume point, since more and more companies/agencies are using drones to do landscape evaluation and modeling.
So after getting my credits transferred, I realized I only have to take one class in Spring to graduate, ironically enough Intro to Landscape Architecture. Ooh great. But I was playing Final Fantasy XIV Online with my sister last night, chatting on the family Discord channel as we saved Aorzea. I was explaining basically all of the above, and my sister, ever practical, asked the following earth-shaking question:
Why don't you take that last course this semester? And graduate in December?
Well.. shit.
I can add it. It fits in my schedule. But that would bring me up to 15 credits. Pretty much overload. So I think I have to drop the drone class. The one I'm taking with all my young school friends, and the majority of the Super Science club. (All of the various science clubs on campus combined into one during covid, and haven't diversified yet).
So I have to decide, do I take the drone class and go insane with work? Or drop and still have a full semester and graduate in December? Or be completely calm, spread things out between this semester and next, and have an easy time of it and get a part-time job?
Sorry, thinking out loud. Or thinking with my keyboard.
I think I'm going to drop Drones, much as I'd like to spend time with my friends in a fun class. I have class later today and I'll go early and discuss it with the professor.
Drat drat drat.

Up In The Air
A decade has passed since Amazon founder Jeff Bezos rocked the universe with yet another disruption to the way we do things. He announced that Amazon Prime Air would one day deliver packages to shoppers. It was a jaw-dropping moment that evening for those watching CBS’ 60 Minutes, and quickly spread across all media.
For fans of The Jetsons, it was confirmation that all those hours spent watching a futuristic cartoon were worth it, because one more thing was coming true.
Unfortunately for Bezos, there would be many hurdles, not the least of which was the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Even with Bezos’ promise that his drones would only fly at altitudes less than 400 feet, there was still the possibility that mishaps with airlines could occur, not to mention flying into very tall buildings, power lines, wind turbines, and anything else jutting out of the earth.
Amazon completed its first drone delivery in December 2016, although that is not to say that his unmanned aerial vehicles have taken to the skies in large numbers. There are still a lot of things to work out, as well as limitations on the size and weight of parcels. Oh, and never mind rednecks who took it upon themselves to declare open season on an entirely new species of bird.
Tumblr media
But that has not stopped Amazon as well as Walmart and courier companies like UPS and FedEx from working toward solving those matters. In fact, Walmart, in partnership with Alphabet’s Wing division, just announced it would start a new drone delivery program in north Dallas suburbs by the end of the year. Residences within a six-mile radius of two stores—60,000 of them—will be able to receive drone delivery within 30 minutes.
In fact, Walmart has been quietly amassing a solid history of drone delivery, with more than 10,000 deliveries from 36 stores in seven states. In contrast, CNBC reported last May that Amazon had only made 100 drone deliveries thus far, in spite of having forecast 10,000 for this year.
If it is beginning to look like Bezos was merely in the inspiration business, you might just be right. His wild dream has failed to take off, while his biggest competitor in the retail space is doing amazingly well with it.
Yes, there are still many concerns, such as whether the recipient needs to be present to take delivery. Porch pirates could steal anything dropped from the sky. Pets might have a little too much fun opening the box. And, of course, you would not do your weekly shopping online and hope to have it all delivered by a drone. The limit is 10 pounds.
I rather like this idea, though. I can imagine a day when residences will have a small helipad in their front yard, a target for the drone to hit. With precise GPS coordinates, hitting the target would be straightforward. Better yet, beyond all the convenience of receiving purchases about as fast as one could possibly imagine while never leaving home, drones fall into the “One Less Car” category. Your car. Their delivery truck. Whatever. These could help alleviate traffic snarls, and since drones fly on a straight line path not bound by where the roads are, this is about as good as it gets.
Well, as long as operators at home base can keep them from flying into one another. And I do have to wonder how Walmart will be able to track UPS or Amazon drones in the sky. Details, details.
Now think of the new jobs that will arise from a nationwide deployment of drones. Highly-trained operators will be needed to program and oversee deliveries. This is far more sophisticated than flying radio-control toys or using a drone to photograph for fun or to help sell real estate. This is one more net benefit.
If I could just get the local Thai place to use these. I dream of the day when I could exit the Classroom Center at the designated moment, and my lunch slowly drops from the sky into my ever-loving hands. DoorDash, you better take note. How about that? A disrupter being disrupted by more technology.
It’s just too bad the guy who envisioned it all hasn’t yet been able to actually do it.

Wednesday's temperature check (7-26)
Back in the stone age of color television – to paraphrase historian (and B-52s front man) Fred Schneider, “Turn your watch, turn your watch back, about a hundred thousand years” – the futurist documentarian duo of Hanna and Barbera created a poorly rated series about a Twenty-First Century family, The Jetsons. This was in 1962! Neil Armstrong was not selected to the astronaut program until September 13, 1962 (ten days before The Jetsons’s premier episode on September 23rd). Besides, of course, the talking Roomba, that cleaned for the family, the documentary also keyed in on George’s, the family patriarch, mode of transportation to his manufacturing job at Spacely Space Sprockets. Of course he drove a flying car. George Jetson had one sixty years ago; what took so long to be a reality? Well, finally last Tuesday, the FAA released their official plan for the rollout of these long-dreamed-of air taxis. Because who among us hasn't been in a cab and thought, you know, that guy should be flying an airplane? These air taxis - they're not here yet, but we've seen drawings and prototypes. They look like a cross between a car and a kind of oversized toy drone, and something about them just screams Titanic submersible. BTW, I was wondering when the tragedy and the timing would intersect for - that's a joke. And we just found out! Personally, I’m a little more afraid of the intersection of artificial intelligence and cab drivers like the ones from 1990’s Martian documentary, Total Recall. Those cab drivers were too nice and safety conscious. It made the whole movie seem unrealistic. Fortunately, Elon Musk is still screwing up “X” and not available to make self-driving Teslas. Oh wait, he has and they act exactly like you’d expect from a cab driver.
So, while I check both ways before crossing in front of a flying taxi, I’ll be online and teleworking.
Stay safe! Tom

Master Drone Flying with Remote Control Training Services!
Tumblr media
In recent times, the use of drones has risen tremendously, revolutionizing various businesses that range from photography to video recording, agriculture to logistics. As technology keeps growing, more people are interested in using their drones for fun purposes or as a career in drone flying. To address such enthusiasts and aspiring experts who want to fly, services such as remote control small drone training have emerged as imperative to them. This blog delves into what these training services offer, their benefits, and why mastering drone operation is more important than ever.
Importance of Remote Control Drone Training
As drones have been made more accessible, the requirement to train properly has increased. Even though flying a drone seems quite easy, the remote control has its own complexity along with the technology that comes into play. Here are several reasons why getting enrolled in a drone training service is beneficial:
Safety First: The main reason for formal training is safety. If operated incorrectly, drones can become hazardous to both people and property. Training services provide important knowledge regarding regulations, local laws, and best practices in operating drones, which ensures that the pilots understand how to fly safely and responsibly.
Technical Competence: High-tech drones are now being fitted with GPS, cameras, and sensors. Training services equip the user with the skills necessary to effectively navigate these features to obtain the maximum potential of a drone. Learning how to alter settings, control flight paths, and use various modes of flight is essential to ensure professional results.
Hands-on Experience: Even though online tutorials and manuals do provide some degree of instruction, hands-on experience is the most important. Practical sessions are a big part of training services where participants get to fly under the supervision of expert instructors. Such real-life experience helps to build confidence and improve flying skills.
Understanding Regulations: Each country has its regulations for using drones. Organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States have set rules for operating drones safely. The training services cover all the regulations so that pilots can be aware of what the legal requirements are and how they may avoid fines or penalties.
What Remote Control Small Drone Training Services Offer
Some remote control small drone training services offer courses designed to meet the needs of all skill levels-from novice to professional operators. This is what you can expect from these courses:
Introductory Courses: For beginners, many training services offer introductory courses that cover the basics of drone operation. These courses usually include information on drone components, controls, and basic flying techniques. Participants learn how to launch, land, and maneuver the drone, setting the foundation for more advanced training.
Intermediate and Advanced Courses: Are provided for the mastery of basics; such training normally encompasses advanced maneuvers such as aerial photography and filming using specialist equipment, with additional provision of lessons on maintenance and problem-solving with the drones.
Certificate Programs: Many training service providers allow participants to earn a formal certificate after completing their course. This is useful to anyone wanting to engage in drone operating as a profession, because it shows evidence of proficiency with safety standards.
Workshops and Seminars: Apart from formal courses, many training services hold workshops and seminars that cater to specific topics related to the operation of drones. Such topics include advanced piloting techniques, drone mapping, aerial surveying, and industry trends. These workshops offer opportunities for networking with other drone enthusiasts and professionals.
Online Training Options: With the rise of online learning, many training services now offer virtual courses. The programs offer participants to learn at their own pace while getting access to the instructional videos, quizzes, and other resources. While training online is useful, many recommend combining it with hands-on practice.
Advantages of Training with Professionals
You will get several advantages from enrolling in a remote control small drone training service:
Expert Coaching: Training programs are usually led by experienced pilots who share valuable insights and tips that can only come from years of flying. Their expertise can help participants avoid common mistakes and improve their skills more rapidly.
Networking Opportunities: Training services often bring together individuals with similar interests, creating a community of drone enthusiasts. Participants can make valuable connections, share experiences, and even collaborate on projects.
Greater Confidence: Pilot training and experience on drones enable increasing confidence in flying abilities. Gradually, with increasing exposure to the various capabilities offered by their drones, this will enable pilots to engage in a far more complex task.
Immediate Personalized Feedback: Feedback from professional instructors enables participant learning of the things being done wrong. It will fasten the process of skill achievement considerably.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, remote control small drone training services in Kolkata play a vital role in equipping aspiring pilots with the skills and knowledge necessary for safe and effective drone operation. These training programs, with a strong focus on safety, technical proficiency, and hands-on experience, are invaluable for anyone looking to navigate the exciting world of drones. From pure fun to professional aspirations, making investments in drone training might provide one with an entire avenue to be explored. So if one is ready to take his journey on a high altitude of skyscrapers, mastering to soar with the flying machines can begin with the first move towards enrolling in such training.

The Bright Future of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has fundamentally altered how organizations manage and utilize technology. As we look ahead, its evolution promises to bring even more groundbreaking innovations and efficiencies. This article highlights the key trends that are expected to shape the future of cloud computing.
Tumblr media
If you want to advance your career at the Cloud Computing Course in Coimbatore, you need to take a systematic approach and join up for a course that best suits your interests and will greatly expand your learning path.
1. Adoption of Hybrid Cloud Solutions
More organizations are turning to hybrid cloud solutions, which combine both public and private cloud infrastructures. This strategy provides the best of both worlds, allowing businesses to maintain control over sensitive data while leveraging the scalability of public clouds. The integration of hybrid models will dominate cloud strategies in the coming years.
2. Advanced Cybersecurity Developments
As reliance on cloud services increases, so does the importance of cybersecurity. Future advancements will focus on implementing cutting-edge security measures, including sophisticated encryption methods and risk assessment tools. Cloud providers will need to enhance their security protocols to protect client data and foster trust.
3. Growth of Function-as-a-Service (FaaS)

Tumblr media
Brands like Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud need no introduction today. Yes, they all belong to the cloud computing domain of which we are highlighting the latest trends and insights.
What Is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing refers to the practice of providing users with access to shared, on-demand computing resources such as servers, data storage, databases, software, and networking over a public network, most often the Internet.
With cloud computing, businesses can access and store data without worrying about their hardware or IT infrastructure. It becomes increasingly challenging for firms to run their operations on in-house computing servers due to the ever-increasing amounts of data being created and exchanged, as well as the increasing demand from customers for online services.
The concept of “the cloud” is based on the idea that any location with an internet connection may access and control a company’s resources and applications, much like checking an email inbox online. The ability to quickly scale computation and storage without incurring upfront infrastructure expenditures or adding additional systems and applications is a major benefit of cloud services, which are usually handled and maintained by a third-party provider.

10 AI ML In Cloud Computing Trends To Look Out For In 2024
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are playing a significant role in shaping the future of cloud computing.
AI-Optimized Cloud Services: Cloud providers will offer specialized AI-optimized infrastructure, making it easier for businesses to deploy and scale AI and ML workloads. The intersection of cloud computing with AI and ML is one of the most exciting areas in technology right now. Since they need a large amount of storage and processing power for data collecting and training, these technologies are economical. High data security, privacy, tailored clouds, self-automation, and self-learning are some of the major themes that will continue to flourish in this industry in the next years. A lot of cloud service providers are putting money into AI and ML, including Amazon, Google, IBM, and many more. Some examples of Amazon’s machine learning products are the AWS DeepLens camera and Google Lens.
AI for Security: AI and ML will play a critical role in enhancing cloud security by detecting and responding to threats in real-time, with features like anomaly detection and behavior analysis. No company or group wants to take chances with their data’s safety. The safety of the company’s information is paramount. It is important to reduce the likelihood of data breaches, accidental deletion, and unauthorized changes. It is possible to adopt measures to guarantee very good data security and reduce losses to a minimum. To reduce the likelihood of data breaches, encryption and authentication are essential. Backing up data, checking privacy regulations, and using data recovery methods can all help lessen the likelihood of data loss. We will conduct comprehensive security testing to identify vulnerabilities and implement fixes. Both the storage and transport of data should be done with utmost care to ensure security. Numerous security procedures and techniques for data encryption are employed by cloud service providers to safeguard the data.
Serverless AI: The integration of AI with serverless computing will enable efficient, event-driven AI and ML applications in the cloud, reducing infrastructure management overhead. Per-user backend services are provided via serverless computing. Developers don’t need to handle servers while coding. The cloud provider executes code. Instead of paying for a set server, cloud customers will pay as they go. No need to buy servers—a third party will handle the cost. This will lower infrastructure expenses and improve scalability. This trend scales automatically as needed. Serverless architecture has several benefits, including no system administration, reduced cost and responsibility, easier operation management, and improved user experience even without the Internet.
Hybrid and Multi-Cloud AI: AI will help manage and orchestrate AI workloads across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration and resource allocation. Companies are increasingly using the strengths of each cloud provider by spreading their workload over several providers, allowing them more control over their data and resources. With multi-cloud, you may save money while reducing risks and failure points. Instead of deploying your complete application to a single cloud, multi-cloud allows you to select a specific service from many providers until you find one that suits your needs. As a result, cloud service providers will be even more motivated to include new services.
Virtual desktops will become widespread: VDI streams desktop images remotely without attaching the desktop to the client device. VDI helps remote workers be productive by deploying apps and services to distant clients without extensive installation or configuration. VDI will become more popular for non-tech use cases while WFH remains the standard in some regions. It lets companies scale workstations up or down with little cost, which is why Microsoft is developing a Cloud PC solution, an accessible VDI experience for corporate users.
AI for Data Management: AI will assist in data categorization, tagging, and data lifecycle management in the cloud, making data more accessible and usable. Storage of vast amounts of data on GPUs, which can massively parallelize computing, will be a major advance. This trend is well started and expected to expand in the future years. Data computation, storage, and consumption, as well as future business system development, are all affected by this transition. It will also require new computer architectures. As data grows, it will be dispersed among numerous data center servers running old and novel computing models. Due to its inability to process many nodes, the traditional CPU will become obsolete.
Cost Optimization in the Cloud: With the exponential growth of cloud users, cost management has emerged as a top priority for companies. Consequently, cloud service providers are putting resources into creating new services and solutions to assist their clients in cost management. Instance sizing suggestions, reserved instance options, and cost monitoring and budgeting tools are all part of cost management tools that customers may utilize to optimize expenditure.
Automated Cloud Management: AI-driven automation will streamline cloud management tasks, such as provisioning, scaling, and monitoring, reducing manual intervention. The possibility of automation is Cloud’s secret ingredient. When implemented correctly, automation may boost the productivity of your delivery team, enhance the reliability of your networks and systems, and lessen the likelihood of slowdowns or outages. Automating processes is not a picnic. More and more money is going into AI and citizen developer tools, thus there will be more devices available to make automation easier for cloud companies.
AI-powered DevOps: AI and ML will optimize DevOps processes in the cloud, automating code testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning. Cloud computing helps clients manage their data, but users can confront security challenges. Network intrusion, DoS assaults, virtualization difficulties, illegal data usage, etc. This can be reduced via DevSecOps.
Citizen Developer Introduction: One of the earliest developments in cloud computing is the rise of the citizen developer. With the Citizen Developer idea, even non-coders may tap into the potential of interconnected systems. If This Then That and similar tools made it possible for regular people (those of us who didn’t spend four years obtaining a degree in computer science) to link popular APIs and build individualized automation. By the end of 2024, a plethora of firms will have released tools that simplify the process of creating sophisticated programs using a drag-and-drop interface. This includes Microsoft, AWS, Google, and countless more. Among these platforms, Microsoft’s Power Platform—which includes Power Flow, Power AI, Power Builder, and Power Apps—is perhaps the most prominent. If you combine the four of them, you can create sophisticated apps for mobile and web that communicate with other technologies your company uses. Additionally, with the release of HoneyCode, AWS is showing no signs of stopping either.
