eldarya boys: sudden affectionate nicknames.

Ezarel:

Accidentally calling him by a cute nickname is something you know could unleash all sorts of reactions from him, but you never expected it to happen so naturally. You were distracted while talking, and suddenly, without thinking, you called him “Ezy” in the middle of the conversation.

Instantly, Ezarel went silent, and his gaze locked onto you, raising an eyebrow with a mix of surprise and amusement. He seemed to be trying not to laugh, but his teasing smile was beginning to show. “Ezy?” he repeated, clearly enjoying the situation.

“I didn’t know we had already reached that level of intimacy.” You knew he would have fun with this, so you tried to keep calm, but your face was surely a bit red. “It was an accident,” you said, trying not to make a big deal out of it. Ezarel leaned a little closer, still smiling. “Don’t worry, human, you can call me that whenever you want,” he replied with a teasing tone, emphasizing the word “human.”

Although he tried to hide it, the slight flush on his ears revealed that deep down, he liked the nickname much more than he was willing to admit.

Leiftan:

You were having a relaxed conversation with Leiftan when, without realizing it, you called him “Heaven” in a soft, affectionate tone. At first, he didn’t seem to notice, but then his eyes widened a bit more than usual as he turned to you, as if processing what he had just heard.

“Heaven?” he asked with a shy smile, his cheeks turning a soft shade of pink. It wasn’t common to see him surprised, but it seemed this nickname had touched something deep within him.

You immediately realized your mistake and covered your mouth with a hand, feeling a bit embarrassed. “I’m sorry, it was unintentional,” you said quickly, hoping you hadn’t made him uncomfortable.

But instead of being annoyed, Leiftan smiled even more, a sparkle of tenderness in his eyes. “You don’t have to apologize,” he said softly. “In fact… I like it.” His gaze was sincere, and you knew he wasn’t joking.

“You can call me whatever you want,” he added, lowering his voice with a slightly more intimate air. Although the nickname had slipped out by accident, the way Leiftan accepted it made you feel that maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to use it from time to time.

Nevra:

You were in the middle of a casual conversation when, without meaning to, you called him “Nervy.” The nickname came out so naturally that you didn’t even think about it until you saw how Nevra stopped completely, raising an eyebrow with a playful yet curious expression.

“Nervy?” he repeated with a smile that could only be described as mischievous. “Are you calling me nervous, or do you think I’m so adorable that you need a nickname?” You blushed immediately, aware of how unusual it was for him to receive a nickname that wasn’t something grand or seductive.

“It’s… just a silly nickname,” you replied, trying to downplay it. But Nevra, far from letting it go, seemed delighted by the situation. “I like it,” he said, with his classic half-smile. “No one has ever called me something so… original. It’s like you know I have a soft side.”

“Don’t get too excited,” you responded, half-joking, trying to regain your composure. He leaned closer to you, his intense gaze as always. “Too late, darling. ‘Nervy’ might stick, and who knows… maybe I’ll let you discover that soft side someday.”

Valkyon:

You were working together, focused on a task, when suddenly, without thinking, you called him “Heart.” As soon as the words left your lips, you realized what you had said, but it was too late.

Valkyon stopped what he was doing and looked at you with his calm eyes, clearly processing the nickname. He didn’t say anything at first; he just blinked slowly, as if trying to decide how to feel about it. “Heart, huh?” he murmured, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Although he wasn’t the type to tease, he seemed genuinely curious about the new name. You felt a bit nervous. “I’m sorry, it was an accident. I can stop calling you that if it bothers you.” But Valkyon shook his head gently, his expression serene as always.

“It doesn’t bother me,” he replied in a deep, calm voice. “In fact… I like it. It’s simple, like me.” Although it wasn’t an exaggerated reaction, the small spark in his eyes and the slight blush on his cheeks made you smile. You knew he wasn’t used to nicknames, but it seemed that “Heart” could stick.

“Just for you,” he added softly before returning to his task, making it clear that although he didn’t show it much, the nickname had touched his heart.

this started as a joke and then a friend of mine who knows will willowmvp personally decided to get me confirmation on his relationship to homestuck so. now you all get to see this i guess.

outside of the tiers that straight up say "CONFIRMED" in them I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT HERE. I DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE. i also do not keep a very close eye on the irl lives of most of these creators, so unless something is like, a well known fact about them, assume i most likely do not know it. if one of these creators has discussed homestuck and is in the wildly wrong place, whoops.

my decisions were based on a combination of age, what corner of the internet they're in (if they openly have a tumblr), and straight up vibes.

i know some of these creators much better than others, but if someone's not on here, it's because i don't feel like i have anything even approximating a grasp on their personalities or i have never watched them before.

1st Quarter Ok, we played great defense on the first play but Nneka nailed a 3 anyway. What can you do? You can answer back—Slim just did. We run the feed to Shakira that worked well against the Sparks. Slim goes 3 again, she is starting out on fire. Ezi hits a 3 now and it's looking like a fun game early. This time the hi-lo goes to Stef to keep them guessing. Where has this offensive variety and discipline been the rest of the season? Slim gets a friendly roll for her 8th point in the opening 5 minutes. She goes one-on-one with Ezi now, and lays it in. Look out. Gabby Williams gets a welcome back shot deflected courtesy of Shakira Austin. I swear I can see Sami talk talk as she guards Jade bringing the ball up. Seattle close the gap on a couple DC turns. Now Stef gets a block. Nneka is playing amazing as usual. JVL for 3. And again. She misses the 3rd one but hey, take it. 24-19. Eric gets a tech complaining about no review of a face shot.

2nd Quarter Shatori hits the 3. I think we were embarrassed about the 20% from range against the Sparks. Former Storm coach Dan Hughes has been commentating alongside Dick Fain and wow, he is streets ahead of any other male commentator I have ever heard in the W. Excellent, nuanced, informed takes. Dan Hughes is gassing Stef up <3. She ties up Ezi off a rebound now, Ezi wins the tip. Jewell gets space on the perimeter and drills it. JVL tries the answer—no go, but Stef gets one on the next possession. Great move by Sykes to get to the rack. Stef: "That's so soft" to the ref after an extremely soft call when she trapped Jewell. Jewell goes on to hit a 3. Storm force a shot clock violation. Jade comes in and goes straight to the cup against her former team. Now Jade and Ezi high five after they get in a tie-up. Five consecutive turns finally stemmed by a Jewell bucket and Eric calls time. 100 of Jewell's family members are in the stands cheering her on <3 <3. Jado goes again straight for the hoop and this time makes the and-1. JVL takes a turn driving. I think Shatori just blocked the much taller Ezi, but it may have been Aaliyah from behind. Quarter ends with a 1-point lead, 56-55.

4th Quarter Sami Whitcomb hits a 3 to open the 4th. Shatori with a jumper, but Sami gets one the other way. Dan Hughes calls her timeless, which I may have to steal for my next birthday. Now Shatori gets a touchdown pass. Engstler steals and feeds Shatori again. It's Sami v Tori. Dick spitting painful facts about our closeout ability—3-17 in clutch games. There have been too many throwaways by both teams all game. Slim and Earl check back in. Slim gets her own rebound and puts it down. A Slim hard cut pays off. Nneka's shots are being rejected by the rim tonight. Stef had multiple 3 opportunities but kept passing—why??? DC has a 4-point lead with 2 minutes left. We're playing great D. Engstler comes in with a key save after Slim takes a very ill-advised shot versus two defenders. Sky keeps it within 2. Slim takes another early-clock difficult shot and misses. Nneka ties it with 55 seconds left. DC makes nothing of their possession. Seattle resets with 36 seconds. Tori pressures Jewell and the shot is off. Slim waits infuriatingly long then flails into Sky and manages to get the call with 1 second remaining. She makes the first. And the second. Timeout. Engstler gets a few fingers on the inbound pass and the Mystics win! 74-72 final.

MASS EFFECT OC ASKS ··· LUCREZIA "EZI" SHEPARD

• how does the character react when someone asks them for help? how do they feel about asking other people for help? despite her irascible nature, ezi does have a streak of goodnaturedness in there somewhere, and will usually help when asked (even if it's with an eye roll and a begrudging "fine, whatever" attached). it's especially so when those close to her ask for help. her fierce loyalty towards her loved ones means she'd do anything and go the extra mile for them. however, she sees asking for help herself as a personal failing and weakness. she'd rather grit her teeth, grin and bear it than lean on someone.

• what strategies do they prefer to use when trying to solve problems? ezi is the first to admit that she has a tendency to 'shoot first, ask questions later', especially when she's feeling irritable. she's known in the alliance as the kind of marine who'll get problems solved no matter the cost. as she's gotten older, though, she's gotten better at exercising diplomacy. slightly. ("becoming a soft touch these days, shepard," zaeed teases. ezi mutely responds with a middle finger.)

• what’s a burden they carry that they wish was lighter? the death of ezi's father weighs particularly heavy on her. he was KIA in the winter of 2184, during which shepard was still in a coma (being reconstructed by the lazarus project). learning of his death was one of the most difficult moments of her life, and not being there to say goodbye to him is a regret that sticks with her. it also served to further fracture the already-distant relationship she had with her mother, which only adds to ezi's burden.

• how temperamental are they? do they show their anger or keep it hidden? what’s the fastest way to provoke them? oh, it doesn't take much to provoke ezi. depending on the mood she's in, even just a simple remark taken the wrong way can get you on the business end of her gun. she's hilariously incapable of hiding her chronic bad temper. (it's zaeed, jack, wrex and grunt's favourite thing about her.)

usually the fastest way to provoke her is to threaten, insult or hurt her loved ones. (wrex in particular enjoys recounting tales of the times shepard's headbutted another krogan in defence of him.)

• what, if anything, is a memory that the character looks back on fondly? ezi's childhood memories involving her father are incredibly important to her. she also looks back with fondness on joining the alliance, as well as becoming xo of the normandy. memories made with her found family are also important to her: dates with garrus and zaeed, wild nights out with jack and/or grunt (that are sometimes followed up by delicate mornings in, eating brunch made by kaidan while watching vids with him and tali).

• how difficult is it for someone to become close to your character? what (if anything) would someone have to do to earn your character’s trust and respect? ezi doesn't give either lightly, they've got to be earned. she's been burned in the past and it shows in how she handles interpersonal relationships. to gain ezi's trust you would have to be someone that's willing to give (and take) brutal honesty. she respects those who are true to themselves and have a willingness to grow and learn.

• why did the character choose their current career (and class)? do they believe it’s the right occupation for them? growing up on starships means ezi doesn't know any other life — joining the alliance military and following in her parents' footsteps was a no-brainer for her.

as for her class (she's a vanguard) — her biotic abilities manifested following an eezo exposure in her teens, which led to her being given a biotic implant to hone her skills. ezi always showed herself as having a no-nonsense, almost reckless approach to life, and once she joined the military this tendency toward recklessness was only exacerbated.

she's a brutal and deadly close-combat fighter who will willingly charge face-first at an enemy, blow out their brains with a precision pistol shot, and disappear before anyone in the nearby area even realises what's happened.

• how does the character go about reading people? do they take people’s words and actions at face value, or do they tend to dig for other motives? ezi's struggle with trusting means she doesn't take words at face value. this could be attributed to her relationship with her mother (a woman who demonstrates affection with her words but unreliability with her behaviour/actions). she prefers to surround herself with those who back up their talk.

• how does the character feel towards other species? do they believe that their own species is exceptional in some way? ezi does not think humans are exceptional at all lmao. she's a staunch believer of equal rights for all species and she's always been very vocal about that, even to the point of alienating (pardon the pun) people who supported her in the early days of her career.

there are those who use her past actions — such as her actions on torfan, and the destruction of the bahak system — as 'proof' that ezi has prejudice against batarians. to this, ezi usually explains that a) torfan was "justifiable retaliation for the unnecessary horror that was the skyllian blitz" and b) the asteroid colliding into bahak's mass relay "was a necessary sacrifice to hold off the reapers" and that she did make an attempt to warn the colonies to evacuate (which was true).

• how do they want to be remembered? ezi isn't the kind of person who cares about fame or medals, so she isn't ever thinking about that — quite the opposite, in fact. she just wants to be remembered by those who matter to her, and to be known as someone who simply always tried her best.
