Cataract surgery in Pitampura
Cataract Surgery In Pitampura, Delhi
Micro Phaco with Micro Incision Foldable Lens (MICS)
Cataract is the clouding of the lens of your eye that impairs vision. Cataract is responsible for more than half of blindness in the world, which is a grim fact because it is a treatable condition. In cataract there is a buildup of protein in the lens that makes it cloudy. This prevents light from passing clearly through the lens, thereby causing loss of vision.
Advancing age is a primary reason for cataract. With age, protein of the lens turns opaque. Other causes of cataract are metabolic disorders such as diabetes, excessive exposure to sunlight, lifestyle disorders like heavy alcohol consumption and smoking. Injury to the eye can also lead to clouding of the lens of the eye.
Treatment of Cataract When cataract forms, surgery is the only way to treat it. In cataract surgery, the surgeon removes the clouded lens and puts an Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) in your eye. Your vision will be as good as pre-cataract days, though you may need to wear glasses. Over the years, cataract surgery has moved from vision restorative to refractive surgery, so that you have reduced need of glasses.

At Bajaj Eye Care Centre we use STELLARIS TM Micro Surgical System which is the world’s most advanced technology of Cataract Surgery by Bausch and Lomb approved by FDA.
Through microphaco technology a very small incision of around 1.8mm is required to remove cataract from the eye. Through this ultra small incision, a very high frequency MICS Phaco tip is introduced inside the eye, breaking the hardest of cataracts into very small fragments which are sucked out through the same tip. Irrigation is provided through a separate side port. This arrangement provides the advantage of speedy recovery, faster healing and lesser surgery induced astigmatism. The surgery involves insertion of foldable Intra-Ocular lens which can be inserted through the 1.8mm incision.
Bajaj Eye Care Centre is also equipped with Pulsar Minimal Stress Phaco Emulsification with advanced Posterior Vitrectome System from OPTIKON(Italy)

Dry Eye: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Options
What Is Dry Eye?
For correct lubrication and protection of the ocular surface the eyes need to be moistened by tears. The lacrimal gland, located on the lateral part of the upper eyelid, produces the tear that disperses evenly over the ocular surface after each blink and keeps the eye with sufficient moisture, says eye doctor in Rohini.
The tear film is formed by 3 layers. The lipid layer constitutes the outer part of the lacrimal lining. Its main objective is to soften the surface and reduce the evaporation of tears. It is produced by Meibomian glands located at the edges of the eyelids.
The aqueous layer, intermediate, makes up 80% of the tear and is produced by the lacrimal gland. This layer rinses the eye and cleans it of foreign particles or irritants.
The innermost layer is the mucosa produced by the goblet cells located in the conjunctiva. This layer allows the aqueous tear to have a uniform expansion and adhere to the surface of the eye.
In addition, tears carry immunological and bactericidal agents that protect the eye from infections, says eye specialist in Rohini.
Under normal conditions the eye is moisturized and lubricated with tears through a constant balance between the production and removal of tears towards the lacrimal drainage pathway.
The production of tears is also present, in exaggerated form when we get excited, when an irritating agent makes contact with the eyes or sometimes when the eyes dry excessively, overflowing or saturating the lacrimal drainage system, says eye surgeon in Rohini.
Causes of Dry Eye
· Hormonal changes: menopause.
· Autoimmune diseases: Hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Sjogren’s disease.
· Chronic use of contact lenses.
· Diabetes.
· Corneal refractive surgery - Lasik (may worsen dry eyes).
· Prior palpebral surgeries (when there is poor palpebral closure or corneal exposure).
· Medications such as anxiolytics, antihistamines, diuretics and beta-blockers for high blood pressure, among others.
Symptoms of Dry Eye
· Need to constantly blink.
· Foreign body or grit sensation.
· Burning or burning.
· Transient blurred vision.
· Lachrymation and mucous secretions (as a reflex phenomenon against dryness).
· Intolerance to contact lenses.
· Factors that worsen symptoms: heating, air conditioning (accelerated evaporation of tears) cigarette smoke, aerosols and environments with low humidity.
Diagnosis of Dry Eye
The eye doctor in Pitampura is the one who can diagnose the dry eye during an eye exam.
There are simple tests carried out at eye centre in Rohini to determine the tear production, the adhesion of the tear film to the eyeball and determine if there is any type of corneal injury.
Dry Eye Treatment
· Supplement with artificial tears: These are drops analogous to natural tears that act by lubricating and moistening the cornea and can be used as often as necessary. In addition, you can use gels for night use.
The tearing or epiphora (tear eye) originates as a result of the obstruction of the lacrimal drainage channel system. This obstruction can be found at different levels of the system: lacrimal dots, canaliculi, and lacrimonasal duct.
The tear is stopped on the ocular surface and overflows over the edge of the eyelid and toward the cheek, thus causing tearing.
The retained tear becomes contaminated and causes infections and irritation of the ocular surface. That is why patients who must undergo intraocular surgery must first resolve the epiphora.
The eye surgeon in Pitampura by means of a probing and irrigation of the lacrimal way, performed in the office, can determine the height and location of the obstruction.
Sometimes a radiological study called dacryocystography will be required, which allows us to accurately locate the height of the obstruction using a contrast fluid.
Different surgical techniques may be chosen to resolve the obstruction depending, again, on the height of the obstruction.
Obstruction at the Lacrimal Points and / or Lacrimal Canaliculi
It is a microsurgery under local anaesthesia in which a dilation of the lacrimal duct and intubation is performed, by placing a small silicone tube that is lodged inside the lacrimal duct for a certain time and then removed. in the office once, the route has been properly formed.
Lower Tear Duct Obstruction or Lacrimonasal Duct
DCR or dacryocystorhinostomy. This procedure produces a new pathway or by-pass of the lacrimal duct, creating a new communication between the eyeball and the nose. This surgery is performed under local anaesthesia plus sedation or general anaesthesia depending on each particular case.

Lasik Eye Surgery In Shalimar Bagh By Dr. Rajiv Bajaj
Lasik Laser for Removal of Glasses
At Bajaj Eye Care Centre, we are using the latest CARL ZEISS MEL 80 Excimer Laser for LASIK. It is the most advanced and safe procedure for vision correction in the world
Different Lasik Procedures
LASIK or Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis corrects all types of refractive errors (Eyeglass Power) like Myopia (Minus) Hyperopia (Plus) and Astigmatism (Cylinder). It can also correct mixed powers.
LASIK is the most popular laser vision correction procedure in the world today. It is a two-stage procedure. The first step is the creation of a flap o 90 to 110-micron thickness. The flap is then retracted which exposes the corneal stroma called "the bed".
The second step is to modify the curvature of the cornea by laser shots or "ablation" on the bed to produce an uninterrupted surface. The flap is then pulled back and sticks to the bed quickly and there is no need for any stitches or bandages. The vision becomes good immediately after the procedure and gets better with time and in nearly all cases becomes perfect in one day.
Wavefront Guided Lasik
Wavefront is a measurement of light rays coming out of the eye. This Wave Optimized LASIK measures the distortion of rays by aberrations in the eye. Wavefront Guided LASIK corrects corneal aberrations offering a possibility of superior vision which is better than vision correction by eyeglasses or contact lenses.
SBK Lasik
SBK or Bourman's Keratomileusis Sub is a thin flap LASIK. In conventional LASIK the flap created is of 120 to 180 microns thickness whereas in SBK LASIK, a much thinner flap of 90 to 110 microns is created
Advantages of SBK Lasik
Less weakening of corneal biomechanics, less risk of ectasia, better stability
Faster visual recovery
Better contrast sensitivity
Fewer complications, less glare, fewer holes
Less incidence of postoperative dry eye
Reduced loss of corneal sensitivity
Greater flap thickness predictability

Remember This If Someone Has A Stroke - Best doctor for brain stroke in Pitampura, Delhi
A stroke is a dangerous, fatal accident that can happen to anyone at any time. Experiencing a stroke might sound scary, but what’s more paralyzing is not knowing what to do when a person near you gets a stroke. So to make this particular notion of identifying and reporting a stroke as it happens, expert neurologists came up with an acronym that has made first responding for a stroke a much, much easier process.
FAST
The acronym FAST has been in use since it was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1998 and has been promoted by various respected organizations like the American Heart Association and the National Stroke Association.
The full form of the FAST acronym is as follows:
● F- F stands for Face. Droopiness in the face is the easiest way to determine whether a person is experiencing a stroke or not. A stroke generally causes facial features to droop on one side, so if you think a person is experiencing a stroke, ask them to do simple facial things like smile or frown. This will make the droopiness more apparent and hence it will become easier to identify the stroke.
● A- A stands for Arms. A stroke can affect a person’s either left or right arm. This is in the form of numbness or weakness felt in one arm more than the other. Ask a potential stroke victim to raise his hands in the air for 10 seconds to determine whether one arm feels weaker than the other.
● S- S stands for Stability. A brain stroke can cause the parts of the brain that maintain balance to function improperly. If a person is not able to stand on his/her own and is feeling dizzy, he/she might be suffering from a stroke. Loss in coordination, having trouble in walking properly or walking at all, and difficulty in maintaining balance are all symptoms that the person is possibly suffering from a stroke.
● T- T stands for Talking. If a person is having difficulty talking simple things, there is a very high chance that that person is having a stroke. During a stroke, the victim can have slurred speech, inability to respond to simple questions, and spewing nonsensical words. A good practice would be to make the victim repeat simple sentences like “ The sky is blue” or “Water is wet”.
The FAST acronym has helped people around the world to identify a person who is suffering from a stroke, but some doctors have suggested that FAST only helps in identifying a victim of a stroke. It doesn’t dictate how to proceed after a member of the general public suddenly comes upon a person with slurred speech and identifies through FAST that the person is suffering from a stroke. It also misses out on visual impairment, a major indication of suffering from a stroke.
That’s why nowadays an added version of the acronym FAST is being popularized. FASTER is a better acronym that instructs people on how to identify a person who is having a stroke and the subsequent actions that must follow to ensure the victim’s safety.
The E stands for Eyes, meaning that a person having a brain stroke can suffer from visual impairment as well. There can be complete visual loss in either or both eyes, and there can also be partial or double vision impairment.
The R stands for React, which acts as a reminder for you to react consciously and call an emergency helpline. Call an ambulance even if the symptoms have gone away and try to take note of when the symptoms began. A proper reaction is essential in saving the life of a person who is suffering from a stroke.
Therefore the updated acronym is:
F- Face
A-Arms
S- Stability
T- Talking
E- Eyes
R- React
FASTER is a more suitable acronym than FAST as it has a call to action which the latter lacks. It also encourages you to act FASTER if a person is having a stroke, as a quick response goes a long way in helping a stroke victim.
Many stroke treatments meant to save a person’s life are dependent on time, so the FASTER you act the FASTER will the person get saved.

Damaged Optic Nerve? Causes, Symptoms and Treatment
The optic nerve is responsible for connecting the back of each eye with the brain by sending visual signals. If it is damaged it can cause loss of vision or even blindness, says eye doctor in Rohini.
What is the optic nerve?
The optic nerve is responsible for transporting the visual stimuli that the retina receives to the area of the brain that processes the visual information, located in the occipital lobe. Therefore, any lesion in any of its branches can cause partial or total blindness of the eye, says eye surgeon in Rohini.
It consists of approximately 1.2 million fibers and can be divided into 4 portions:
intraocular, intraorbital, intracanicular and intracranial. The total length of the optic nerve is approximately 5 centimeters and its tissue does not regenerate, so if they stop performing if there is any type of alteration or their fibers die, vision loss is irreversible, explains eye surgeon in Pitampura.
Damaged optic nerve: causes
Glaucoma
The glaucoma is a disease that occurs when the fluid pressure inside the eye rises and damages the optic nerve. Depending on the severity of damage to the optic nerve, vision loss is greater or lesser.
Druses
Symptoms of vision loss due to drusen appear gradually. If the optic nerve is damaged, there is a decrease in the central visual quality. As a result it can also cause a choroidal neovascular membrane (abnormal vessel that grows under the retina).
Optic neuritis
It is an inflammation of the optic nerve due to lack of irrigation in the blood flow. It is related to diseases with the immune system such as multiple sclerosis, exposure to radiation or toxic substances, the intake of some drugs or trauma.
Damaged optic nerve: symptoms
The main symptoms are:
Loss of total or partial view.
Damage of an optic nerve: damage occurs between one eye and the optic chiasma (where the two nerves meet).
Possible eye pain when trying to move the eyes.
Loss of peripheral vision if nerve damage is located where the two nerves (chiasma) meet.
Loss of brightness or brightness of the environment and / or objects.
Diagnosis of the damaged optic nerve
Tests that are performed to assess an alteration of the optic nerve at eye centre in Rohini are included in a complete study of the eye:
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): this is a non-invasive imaging test for the detailed exploration of the retina, specifically the macula eyepiece and the optic nerve.
Visual acuity test from far and near.
Ophthalmoscopy: the doctor illuminates the inside of the eye with a bright light to examine the structures in the back of the eye.
Campimetry: This test is essential to detect pathologies such as glaucoma or alterations in the nerve fibers of the optic nerve. The patient’s visual ability is analyzed.
Treatment of optic nerve injury
According to the eye doctor in Pitampura, The treatment will depend on the severity of the injury that is diagnosed in the patient. Therefore, there are treatments that allow you to recover vision for some disorders but not for others. In some cases, the treatment could even reveal the loss of vision that the patient would reach.
The ophthalmologists of our Retina Unit recommend visiting a eye specialist in Rohini as soon as possible for the early detection of any disease that could seriously compromise our vision.
