Not sure if you know about The Exlied by Katterpies, but I want to hear your opinion on 3 Mama's boys: (WARNING: long)

Rainhaze, Rockfall, and Fallenscar

You already know about Rain, he's,,,, like yours,,,, BUT I can't help but feel like Rockfall and Fallenscar are different degrees of Rain? #mommyissues gang

(not)quick review of each lad

Rockfall: Half-clanned, protag's littermate (Fishwhisker) to an asshole of a mother (and a deadbeat dad) but despite that Rock still hangs out with her? He's never verbally against or for her actions and just cowards or looks away when she speaks. He does everything she says and lets himself be baby-ed by her, maybe out of fear (of her or his clanmates) or familiarity. Protag calls him out on his bullshit after he ask her to help "HIS MOM." Rock tries to say something but doesn't fight and just walks away. From his friendliness to his clanmates, Rock seems well-liked if not a bit of a baby. So....I guess if his plan was to be a pushover so people would like him, it worked. But his sister him and he still helps his mother, even after she disses her own daughter for not being a warrior. Rock is a good guy, but in the hopes to be liked, whether by his mother or clanmates, he becomes an cowardly asshole.

Fallenscar: Fallen is a different kind mama's boy. Fallen's relationship reminds me of Dustfeather to Rainhaze. I don't think Fallenscar's mother (Crowstar) was a bad mother, Fallen seems like a good guy. Crow is a war criminal and a bloodthirsty killer, while she says she doesn't like killing children, she'll 100% kill everyone else. Despite the murder, Crow made sure he'd be taught to the clan's most pacifist and well-respected cat (Cloverfall), Fallen grew up to be a kind and caring cat, if not a bit spinless. He had Crow who loves him so much she made him deputy (maybe because it's hard to kill people in power), Whisperleaf his paternal uncle who loved him despite his hate for Crow, and Cloverfall, a sister figure and his former mentor. Crow could have easily pushed Clover and Whisper away and kept Fallen for himself, but she let him (maybe made him), be ANYTHING but her. This brings us to the big reveal, that Fallen knows TO SOME EXTENT what Crow has done. It's probably skewed but instead of being against the killing of others, Fallen blames Crow's former leader, Autumstar, for all the trouble with the other clans (there was a long-ass war btw). This ignores the fact that Crow is heavily disliked for killing old clanmates for trying to stop her from more killing, possibly continued the war after Autumstar's death, albeit briefly, Crowstar killing the leader of the other clan with no remorse, and later manmining Rockfall's mother. Like dude. Fallen was alive for 3 of these events and still loves his mother. I don't think he's stupid enough to say 'mommy did nothing wrong' but it's crazy and INESTERING AS HELL I LOVE IT IT'S SO FROSTPAW AND CURLFEATHER.

In conclusion,,, I just wanted to talk to you about this 'Mama's boy' trend and tell you I LOVE complex grey people giving birth to nice kids only for them to become complex grey people because they love their parent. I love Rainhaze and he's just as grey as Fallen and Rock FOR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REASONS. bro i love both PATFW and TE I'm so mad for them thank you for making it I'm just so hyped

I love these in-depth analyses on Rockfall and Fallenscar. :D Well written! Sandywing and Dustfeather definitely share a lot of parallels, and I can see Rockfall and Rainhaze interactions proceeding very simiarly to each other. It's a fun type of character to write!

This Independence Day I celebrated my freedom with nude body painting. I grew up being very ashamed of showing my body as many of us in this society have be conditioned. Throughout my adolescence I had a negative self image, low self confidence and overall very little self love. I lost my creative expression as I constantly feared the judgements of others which completely stripped away my power. Unfortunately some people never heal from this wound and continue to live their lives keeping themselves in chains. When we block ourselves from our own self love we are essentially imprisoning ourselves. So many of us are afraid to be seen for exactly who we are. A naked body doesn't mean sex. A naked body is simply that. A naked body. Why are so many people afraid to show themselves fully? I get much backlash by some people close to me for my recent nude pictures and honestly I'm ok with it. A wise woman once said "To be ourselves causes us to be exiled by many others however to comply with what others want causes us to be exlied from ourselves" (From the book Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes) I care more about my own self love and happiness than pleasing others and avoiding their triggers. I care much more about speaking my truth around such topic and inspiring others who feel called to let go of shame and fear and step fully into the empowered self confident, self loving man/woman that they truly are. It has taken a lot of work for me to get here as my shadows run deeeeep but honestly eachtime I peel back a layer of fear I shed another level of the armor I've unconsciously accumulated through my life. This body painting was quite a transformative experience as I felt old thought patterns arise and release from my body. I feel lighter, clearer and stronger 🎨&📷@monty_knowles🙏 Thank you for your beautiful creations, support, inspiration and empowerment Thank you @misssexplorer for the invitation and support

Tommy Talks

TW: EXLIE ARC MENTIONS, DREAM, PANIC ATTACK/BREAKDOWN, MENTIONS OF MANIPULATION

Tommy was, honestly, less of a talker than Sam expected. 

He was sure (from what he’d heard of the boy) that he’d be jabbering his ear off any time he came into contact with him, but honestly he just seemed... nervous. He didn’t think anything of it at first, I mean, why would he? Him and the kid barely knew each other, he’d warm up to him soon enough, right?

...Only, he didn't. Even in the process of working on the hotel, Tommy seemed to always be wary around him, and skittish, and Sam honestly couldn’t help but wonder why. The boy never really seemed to act like this around everyone else, from what he’d seen, anyways, was it something he was doing? 

Eventually, he decided that he needed to talk to Tommy about it. This wasn’t something he could just... ignore. So one day, when Tommy is walking about the hotel, Sam catches him privately.

“Hey,” He says, trying not to startle the boy, and failing. “Jesus, Sam! What the fuck are you doin’!” Tommy yells, scrambling back. “Sorry I- We just... need to talk Tommy, is that okay?”

Tommy hesitates. “If you’d rather not, thats fine too,” He says softly, “I’ll leave you be if thats the case, I just need to know if I’ve done something...” That gets Tommy to look up, a puzzled expression painted on his face, “What do ya mean?”

“Well,” Sam starts, “You always seem a lot more... nervous around me... At first I thought it was because we had barely talked, but after a while I...” He didn’t know where he was going with this, but with Tommy being Tommy, he didn’t need to speak much.

“What? No no no no no- You haven’t done anything, Sam! You just-” He stops himself, appearing to be searching for an answer to his own question, “You just... remind me of him...” He finishes quietly.

“Who, Tommy?” He prompts gently, taking a cautious step forward.  “Dream,” He spits the name venomously, “He’s fucked with my head and you’re both green,” He concludes, turning to leave, but being stopped by Sams voice. “What do you mean he... fucked with your head, Tommy?” He asks, more concerned than anything, especially when he see’s Tommy freeze up.

“I...” The boy tries to start, but whatever he was trying to say dying in the back of his throat. “Tommy...” Sam says gently, to the boy now refusing to look at him, “You’re okay. You can talk to me, okay? I won’t force you to if you don’t want to, just know I’m here, alright?” He says softly, stepping towards him.

Tommy turns to look at him, his eyes wide and glistening with tears. He opens his mouth to say something, but all that comes out is a heart wrenching sob. Sam is quick to gather the tall boy in his arms, gently shushing him and running his fingers through his hair. Tommy doesn’t reject his affection, if anything, he leans into it heavily. 

“It- It feels like everyone is trying to hurt me,” Tommy chokes out through his sobs, “Every. Single. Turn. It feels like someone is trying to get into my *fucking* head,” He buries his face into Sams shoulder, “He made me think he was my *friend,* Sam!” He wails, and Sams heart breaks for this child, this broken kid in his arms.

“Oh, Tommy...” He says softly, holding him close, “I’m so sorry, Tommy...” He knows the boy doesn’t like pity, but he really can’t think of what else to say in this moment. As always with Tommy, he didn’t need to.

“He’d take my shit every day Sam, he’d make me put it in a fucking hole and he’d- he’d-” He sobs, “He’d fucking blow it up! Everything I had!” Sam didn’t think his heart could break anymore. It seemed Tommy was done talking for now, and Sam just let him cry in his arms. He needed it. He needed this. From what he’d heard, the poor kid hadn’t had a stable parental figure for a while.

He figures he’s a dad now, and he doesn’t mind, but he just knows, once Tommy cries himself into exhausted slumber and Sam tucks him into one of the beds at the hotel, he knows he’s his Dad now. ~~~~~ tysm @latenightchicken​ for the request! i hope this is what you wanted lol
