It is absolutely sending me that this is what finally did it. To get everyone on the same page here, an "October surprise" in American politics is something unexpected that derails a political campaign at the last minute, right before Election Day in the U.S. (first Tuesday in November). Mount Rageous Worldbuilding Headcanons

Thoughts, interpretations and a lil analysis of the culture and lifestyle of rubber noodle people based off of what we saw in the movie and some behind the scenes stuff

It's been stated before in an interview that all the inhabitants of Mount Rageous are teenagers, but Velvet & Veneer's convo and flashback confirm that there exists full grown adults with paying jobs and also child Rageons who need to live under said adult's care until they become teens. That scene also states that suburbs are a thing which I assume is just like a regular neighbourhood type area, most likely not as flashy as the main of Mount Rageous

Since Mount Rageous is a floating city, it's suburbs are under it on the ground

I like to think that the water from the yacht riverways on Mount Rageous eventually fall from the sky and becomes rain for the suburbs

Mount Rageous' entire shtick is that it's a big teenage hangout. It's run by teens for teens. It's structure is mainly based on entertainment

Mount Rageous have different districts that focus on different types of entertainers like how the troll tribes are seperated by music genres. The areas of Mount Rageous we see in the movie is in a district dedicated to Singers. The other districts are Streamers, Actors, Comedians, etc with their own set of subclasses. Basically anything that appears on a screen for entertainment purposes is someone's teen career on Mount Rageous

Of course there are also jobs on Mount Rageous that have to actually keep the place running. Like bouncers, security guards and cops such as we've seen in the movie. Normal day-to-day jobs like barista or fast food worker are still a thing, they just don't procure you fame

Rageons have a lifestyle structure based on the concept of 15 minutes of fame. They're raised from birth as regular, boring nobody children, reach their teenage years and set off to Mount Rageous to either party their youth away or try to achieve fame of some sort, then go back to the suburbs to begin their life as a boring nobody adult. Not all Rageons care to be famous superstars, instead just focusing on having fun and making friends

Life as an entertainer on Mount Rageous is brutal and harsh, such is the life for anything related to performing arts. You need to have what it takes to make it and to stay making it. But if you've got talent, you'll probably make top 100 at some point

Achieving ultimate stardom (the Life-Award that V&V were on their way to accept) on Mount Rageous means that they basically get to be solidified in Mount Rageous history forever. EVERYONE will know you. It's FAME! It lets you live forever (metaphorically). It also guarantees a cushiony adult life where you don't have to work as a dentist

Since trolls bleed pink I like to think that Rageons bleed purple. Fun blood colours! Homestucks DNI /nsrs

Rageons have dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. Pizza before school and cereal after. V&V's dad asked about school while they were eating cereal bc it was dinner time

Rageons don't have the same hair powers that trolls do but I like to think that it's still manipulatable in some ways seeing as how Veneer apparently grew longer hair for his mullet in the final act of the movie

Honestly, I've been reading British newspapers for about a year now, and I can say this... How is it normal to be so anti-French? We already know that UK tabloids are very disrespectful of France, but I mean, they're tabloids. Now I am starting to see many more 'serious' newspapers abandoning all neutral pov and attacking 'the French', mocking Macron and his government, repeatedly. I have seen some newspapers write the same disrespectful comments towards Germany, but it's a bit more veiled - it is like there is a pass to hate on France. It is so bizarre to see this in the press. I have never, ever seen that in the EU or French press nor could I ever imagine such things could be published, and it makes me really angry to see 1. that this is considered journalism and 2. that this is clearly how the right wing is trying to justify Brexit (but this is not only a right wing habit or even a new one, we remember Tony Blair) and 3. that the British government itself is using and feeding this 'francophobia'. Don't they realise that in this context, these trops aren't a game anymore?

Its one thing to put laws in place that protect others rights. Thats what Roe v. Wade was Supposed to be. Protection of rights. Red states endangering a woman's right to choose ? Cancer is one cash cow. So EPA will let cancer causing pesticides slide. And proudly endorse its use.

Gender reassignment will become another new cash cow guaranteeing a LIFETIME of customers to medical tech giants.

The purpose of those who have power is to keep it. they'll fight to do so by establishing systems of hierarchy to keep us subjugated.

They distract us via social media with irrelevant talking points to overburden us with details.

This same leftists currently AGGRESSIVELY pushing gender fluidity are from the SAME right wing government body that makes a fortune from Bayer/Monsanto lobbyists using cancer-causing chemicals in common household weed killers.

They're one.

And we the people are income generators.

Us and them.

We're not divided by citizenry. There exist two separate entities in our cultural habitus alright. But we are divided more in terms of power and income rather than political ideology.

Just like a cancer patients have been dollar sign indicators to the medical industry, so are gender reassignment "patients." Or more accurately, "victims" as I prefer to think of them.

Gender reassignment kills who you were born to be.

Haaaaaaaaaaaa k not to be obnoxious but my ex's new gf is bigger than me 🙃🙃🙃 like a lot lmfao she posted one of those "weight loss transformation" pics and was like "I'm down to 185 now!!!" like omg she weighs as much as him 😂 honestly I don't even mean anything bad by it bc she's pretty and has like, 2k followers on her ~makeup artist~ insta page (which is funny bc I hate makeup so good for him he found a girl who can fit in with societal beauty culture lmfao) and I bet she'll fit in much better with his family etc - anyway she also had another post about being insecure about her appearance and wanting to be pretty and perfect and accepted by everyone and how that influences all her decisions - I'm like girl ok hope that's going well for u lol 😂 also u know what's funny is that he started out having a crush on her older sister and he even told me how annoying it was that he liked this girl but her sister kept hitting on him - anyway apparently he told this girl (the younger sister who was hitting on him) that he liked the older sister, and she was like, "yeah well that's never gonna happen so just accept what you can get" or something lmfao so now he's dating the younger sister ,,,, I'm like ok bro lol hope y'all are happy.

Anyway I'm just happy bc I'm skinny and even if I want to lose 10 pounds/get back in shape like that's not hard lol. And I've accepted myself and I don't feel the need to try so hard with makeup and tight clothes and external validation etc lol idk I mean still have goals etc but like I'm glad he found someone who wants to keep trying at all those things 😂

I'm going to pre-emptively say Matt is an eldest son in whatever home environment he comes from. I don't know his backstory or if we ever even learn it, but I'll elaborate on this in the end notes as well.

Abby and Neil. There's this palpable distance between Abby & Neil, a physical barrier that Neil's put up that he hasn't done with Wymack. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Neil had a maternal figure, even if she was a bad one. He's not lacking a mother. He thinks about his mom near constantly, she's this constant dull mantra in the back of his head. Therefore, if he doesn't put a lot of distance between him and Abby, he risks overriding that very important, very essential love he had for his mom, and I don't think he's quite ready to unpack his relationship with his mom. It's also clear Abby wants to take care of Neil, as much as she does all of the Foxes. Wymack & Abby, whether they willing took on the role or have just stumbled into this, view the Foxes as their kids. Dysfunctional, delinquent kids. But kids.

I have already gone on multiple essays on Andrew AND Kevin, so I won't this chapter.

Let's discuss; Matt.

Matt is kind of this defacto co-captain next to Dan. He helps keeps things in line, and not that people necessarily respect or listen to him, they do trust him. I mean, Matt had Kev in a chokehold and Andrew didn't even swing on him and that speaks a lot to the role he holds amongst the Foxes. Despite Kevin's demanding nature and everyone's apparent wariness of Andrew, Matt is the alpha. He's not in your face, people don't notice him, but he is holding this ship together in a way. It also says a lot about his character that he took Neil under his wing in record time. One look at him and he was quite literally throwing hands in his defense. This guy deffo has at least A younger brother, if not multiple. If he doesn't have a backstory I'm inventing him one as we speak. Deadass.

Neil's code in the way he folds his clothes takes us deeper into his own paranoia ad hyper-vigilance. Yes, it aided him in this scenario with Andrew searching his things, but it also doesn't help, as we saw earlier in this chapter when he wouldn't leave his bag in the dorm without a lock and key long enough to help Matt bring his furniture up AND when he had to hype himself up to go to the store without it. I completely understand WHY Neil is the way that he is, but I need him to get. help. Jesus Christ. Mandate this child some therapy or so help me god.

I'm doing something a little bit different with this one! In the business of full disclosure, I read TFC (and about a chapter of TRK) in April this year, decided "I can't mcfucking do this" and then gave up. And then didn't stop thinking about Neil Josten for the next eight months and now we're BACK. So, instead of properly 'liveblogging,' unlike most first-reads I do, I'm actually annotating this one because it's too good to NOT.

That means I have a customized (so totally legal mhm) word doc, highlight/unline privileges, and audacity.

Here's what I knew before I read back in April (stolen from my beta version of this post);

Andrew Minyard: Gay(?), funniest bitch alive if Tumblr brackets are to be trusted. Murderer? Has Boyfriend???

Now, here's where I am going in now;

Ranking the Foxes goes; Neil, Aaron, Dan, Kevin, Andrew, Renee, Matt, Nicky

I have no idea how exy works, I do don't plan on figuring it out.

Do not remember if I read TRK but what I remember happening is far too much to be just the 230 page doc that is TFC so I MUST HAVE right?

Do know his real name's Nathaniel because I did read that scene reveal and get JUMPSCARED by my brother's name.

How this is going to work is that I'm going to put in my annotations for each chapter. Enjoy!

Chapter 1:

notes:

nothing much to say on chapter one--- it's a standard introductory chapter to a contemporary(ish) novel.

Wymack sets up the series' key theme with his line, "It's about second chances, Neil. Second, third, fourth, whatever, as long as you get at least one more than what anyone else wanted to give you."

Kevin's demeanor in this chapter is very similar to the Kevin we see up until Raven's come into play--- He's very good at acting very standoffish and tough.

The shift in Kevin when Riko comes into play was actually so dramatic I didn't recognize him here, I was afeared

some of the quotes I've added here are obviously because I thought they were funny exchanges--- others are me English Majoring(tm), and others are just me marking plot, characterization, facts, etc.

admittedly what i've put here is about half of what is actually highlighted/underlined in my doc.
