I suppose it's time i should make an about me, since i see plenty of others do it.
Hey! I'm Zed. A person on this website not exclusively because of the twitter migration. I prefer he/they pronouns but if you'd like to refer to me as something else that's perfectly fine by me! I'd like to say i'm an artist, but i know that's not true as the art i make is few and far between. If anything i'm an aspiring writer with all the ideas for stories I have, and have written. (With none being fully fledged stories, unfortunately. But some come close) Am i edgy some times? Yes. Am i salty? Plenty. But will i backstab you after you become my friend? Not willingly. I also try to remain neutral in most situations, so please don't rope me into those because i probably won't be of much help..
Likely an insomniac. Also can nearly guarantee undiagnosed ADHD of some sort. Expect me to be on here often as i have nothing better to do most of the time.
I like things such as: DnD, kirby (the little poyo), Cookie Run: (Ovenbreak/Kingdom), Minecraft (more specifically Hermitcraft), Pokemon, Splatoon, The Binding of Isaac, other rogue-likes, cottage core, steampunk, high fantasy adventures, guns in high fantasy adventures, one piece, lego monkie kid, dragons and kobolds (yip), Cult Of The Lamb, CULT OF THE LAMB, Dungeon Meshi, and others that i can't think of at the current moment!
Yes I'm not heterosexual, how could you tell?
This account is a safe place for:
Furries, any LGBTQIA+ people, idiots like me, idiots not like me (no offense if you apply here), people that shitpost, people that horni, people that like to rp (to an extent..), etc for the same reason as seen in my likes.
This account does NOT welcome:
Ped0s (ew.), z00s (also ew..), racist people, homophobic people, transphobic people, ableist people, audist people (specifically these guys), people that don't respect boundaries (people have those for a reason), people that slander artists/writers for what they do (unless it's deserved.), etc because i'm tired at a constant, sorry.
Random quote for no reason whatsoever:
"I eat my cereal DRY. NO YOUTUBE VIDEO." - me
If you follow me, expect either a load of nothing, or a load of nonsense. I may write a small tidbit of a story idea in here, or a dnd homebrew idea. (Take for instance, the sword magic items i've talked about in one of my previous posts; the insomniac's bane and sunlight's catharsis) Every once in a while there may be some art. Unfortunately, motivation to post isn't too plentiful so the most likely option is a load of nothing.
Also, i am definitely very reblog heavy because i feel too awkward to post most anything anywhere online. I hope you can understand, my friends.

How to Program a Motorola R7: Step-by-Step Guide
Introduction
The Motorola R7 is a powerful and versatile radio device commonly used in business, industrial, and emergency settings. But to get the most out of it, you'll need to know how to program it. Programming a Motorola R7 isn’t just about turning it on and using it—it's about customizing it for your needs, configuring channels, and fine-tuning its performance for specific tasks. If you're new to programming Motorola radios, or even if you’re experienced but just need a refresher, this guide will walk you through the entire process step by step.
Why Program Your Motorola R7?
Enhanced Functionality
By programming your Motorola R7, you're unlocking its full potential. You can fine-tune the settings to improve communication range, clarity, and reliability, allowing it to perform at its best in demanding environments.
Customization Options
Do you want certain channels for specific teams? Or maybe you prefer particular audio alerts for different situations? Programming allows you to tailor the device to suit your unique needs. This customization makes the radio more intuitive and user-friendly, whether you’re using the R7 full keypad model or the R7 non keypad version. Both models can be personalized to fit your communication needs perfectly.
Efficiency and Convenience
Think of programming as setting up a playlist for your workday. Instead of fumbling through the settings every time you need to make a change, your radio is pre-configured with the channels, frequencies, and settings you need. This not only saves time but also boosts your operational efficiency.
Required Tools and Resources
Motorola R7 Radio
Obviously, the first thing you’ll need is your Motorola R7 radio. Make sure it’s charged and functional before you start the programming process.
Motorola Programming Software (CPS)
You’ll need the Motorola Customer Programming Software (CPS). This software allows you to create and load configurations onto your radio. You can download it from the Motorola website, but make sure you're using the latest version.
USB Programming Cable
You’ll also need a USB programming cable that’s compatible with the Motorola R7. This cable links your radio to your computer for programming. If you don’t have one, they can easily be purchased online.
Computer (PC or Laptop)
Finally, you’ll need a PC or laptop to run the CPS software. Ensure it meets the system requirements for the software, and that it has the appropriate ports for the programming cable.
Getting Started: Setting Up Your Environment
Installing Motorola CPS
After downloading the CPS software from the official Motorola website, run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts. Once installed, launch the program to confirm everything is working correctly.
Connecting Your Motorola R7
Now, plug the USB programming cable into your computer and connect the other end to your Motorola R7. Ensure the radio is powered on. If it’s your first time connecting the device, you may need to wait a moment while your computer installs necessary drivers.
Checking for Compatibility
Before proceeding, verify that your version of CPS supports the Motorola R7. If you’re using an older version of the software, you may run into issues. Updating the software can prevent compatibility problems down the line.
Programming the Motorola R7: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Launch Motorola CPS
Once your environment is set up, open the CPS software on your computer. You’ll be greeted by the main dashboard, which allows you to manage all aspects of your radio’s configuration.
Navigating the Interface
The CPS interface may look overwhelming at first, but it’s relatively intuitive. There are menu options for reading, writing, and editing configurations. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the layout.
Step 2: Read the Radio Configuration
With the radio connected, click on the “Read” option within the CPS software. This process will pull the current configuration from your Motorola R7, giving you a baseline to work from.
Understanding Read Options
When reading the radio, you'll be asked whether to perform a full or partial read. A full read pulls every piece of configuration data from the radio, while a partial read allows you to extract only certain aspects (like channels). For beginners, a full read is recommended.
Step 3: Modify Channel Settings
Now that you’ve accessed the radio’s current configuration, you can begin modifying it. Navigate to the "Channel Settings" tab, where you can adjust frequencies, add or remove channels, and set privacy codes (CTCSS/DCS) for each channel.
Adjusting Frequencies and Tones
To adjust a channel’s frequency, simply input the desired frequency into the provided fields. You can also adjust tones (like CTCSS or DCS) to ensure your communications remain private and interference-free.
Step 4: Save and Write the Configuration
Once you're satisfied with your modifications, it’s time to save and write the configuration to your Motorola R7. Click on the “Write” option, and the CPS software will upload the new configuration to your radio.
Ensuring Successful Programming
After the configuration is written, the CPS will confirm the success of the operation. If you run into any errors, double-check your cable connection and ensure your radio is still powered on.
Common Mistakes and Troubleshooting
Miscommunication Between Devices
Sometimes, the CPS software fails to communicate with the radio. This can happen if the programming cable isn’t fully connected or if your computer’s drivers need updating. Try reconnecting everything and restart the software.
Software Crashes or Freezes
If CPS crashes or freezes during programming, this could be due to software bugs or computer resource issues. Make sure your system meets the software requirements and that you’re using the most up-to-date version of CPS. Restarting your computer can also help clear up these issues.
Incorrect Channel Settings
Incorrectly entering frequencies or privacy codes can render a channel unusable. Double-check all entries before writing the configuration to your radio. It's a good idea to test the programmed channels after completing the process.
Tips for Efficient Motorola R7 Programming
Keep a Backup of Your Configurations
Before making any major changes, save a copy of your current configuration. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can revert back to a previous version without hassle.
Utilize Pre-built Templates
To save time, consider using pre-built programming templates, especially if you’re managing multiple radios. Many organizations create templates that can be quickly uploaded to radios, ensuring consistency across devices.
Conclusion
Programming a Motorola R7 might seem intimidating at first, but once you break it down into steps, it's a straightforward process. Whether you're tweaking channel settings or personalizing the radio for your specific needs, you’ll be well on your way to having a fully optimized and functional radio. With patience and practice, you'll become proficient at programming, ensuring your communications are efficient and effective.
FAQs
Q1: Do I need specific training to program a Motorola R7? No, while it might help, you don't need formal training. By following the guide and familiarizing yourself with CPS, you can successfully program the radio.
Q2: How often should I reprogram my Motorola R7? You only need to reprogram it when you change channels, frequencies, or other operational parameters. For most users, this isn't done frequently unless the communication needs change.
Q3: Can I use a Mac to program my Motorola R7? Currently, Motorola CPS is compatible with Windows PCs. If you have a Mac, you'll need to run Windows through Bootcamp or another virtual machine.
Q4: Why is my radio not responding after I programmed it? Check for any errors during the write process. If everything looks fine but it still doesn't work, try re-reading the radio and reviewing your settings.
Q5: What should I do if I lost my original configuration? You can try resetting the radio to its factory settings. In the future, ensure you back up your configurations to avoid losing them.

Chapter: 3/16 (all chapters)
“Good evening, Listeners! It’s 7PM on this fine Wednesday night and I hope you all are doing a-o-kay!”
Hizashi leaned back from his mic and pressed the cheer button on his soundboard.
“Tonight it is my absolute pleasure to announce a brand new segment to our show! I have a guest in my studio tonight. Please raise your hands, paws, flippers and/or wings for (Name), my lovely colleague from UA!”
He waved to you and you leaned forwards towards your own microphone.
“Pleased to meet you everyone,” you said, Hizashi clapping boisterously in the background. “It’s a pleasure to be here.”
“Cute, so cute!”
His excitement was contagious and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“(Name) is a very special guest,” he said, pushing the ‘ooooo’ button on his soundboard. “She’s the guidance counsellor at UA. (Name), why don’t you tell the listeners a little about what you do?”
“Well, the welfare and wellbeing of our students is of course our top priority at UA,” you said, “and so my role is to ensure these needs are being met. If they’re feeling pressured or struggling to find agency opportunities or simply unsure of their futures…”
“Of course,” said Hizashi. “Now, Listeners, (Name) has kindly offered up her time for this new weekly segment, which I’m going to call ‘Support Mic’. If you, my wonderful listeners, or anyone you know have a problem and require a sympathetic ear, please send them anonymously through my website or texting service and (Name) and I will advise to the best of our ability. Sound good, (Name)?”
“Yes!”
“Alright then, we’re going to take a short break and after that we’ll go through your submissions,” said Hizashi, bringing up the next song on his playlist. “If you can’t join us, please enjoy your evening, PLUS ULTRA!”
“PLUS ULTRA!” you echoed and Hizashi laughed out loud.
“So CUTE,” he cried out, before muting your microphones and playing music. He pulled off his earphones and you did the same, reaching for a glass of water.
You were now two months into your job at UA and the time had flown by. You had transformed your office into a space that felt more like your own and familiarised yourself with the names and faces of just about every student at the school. The previous guidance counsellor had been a woman in her eighties, retiring as opposed to taking on a new role and as a consequence your resources and day to day activities needed updating to reflect the modern climate.
None of it would have been possible without the help of your colleagues. Even Shouta, who had said at most half a dozen words to you since leaving your house, had sent the rather more vulnerable students in your direction.
The agony aunt segment was your idea and Hizashi only too happy to include it in his regular radio show, with the caveat that you bought him a beer the next time you went to the izakaya.
Truthfully, you didn’t expect very many requests to come in, so it came as a complete shock when you refreshed the website and found thirty had already arrived in the first two minutes.
“P...Plus Ultra,” you murmured.
Support Mic was only a half hour segment, but you could easily have gone on for so much longer. Hizashi had done nothing but coo over you since you left the studio.
“Waaah, (Name), you were a natural!”
You had been so very nervous before the broadcast. You’d expected to stumble over your words or get no questions at all. In the end you answered so many questions and talked so much that it felt like you had swallowed a bucketful of gravel.
“Thank you,” you said, packing up your purse, “for having me, I mean. That was a lot of fun.”
“Did you want me to drive you home? It’s getting late.”
“No, it’s fine, I don’t live far.”
“Well, if you’re sure,” said Hizashi, “see you to-morr-ow, sweet listener!”
You waved goodbye and continued up the street, reaching into your purse for your train pass, only for your blood to run cold when you realised it wasn’t there.
Shit
You rummaged through packs of tissues, chewing gum, pepper spray and more to no avail.
“Where is it,” you mumbled, grabbing your miniature torch and shining it on the contents.
You thought back to the last time you had seen it, when you arrived at work that morning. You had dropped your purse down on your desk when you saw Hizashi arriving and hurried after him to verify your studio appointment. It must have fallen out then and you sighed, turning the other way to go back to UA.
As a kid you had always been afraid of the dark. You were the one who squealed at ghost stories during sleepovers and had to hide your face during scary movies.
You liked to think that you had gotten braver as you got older, but that was far from true. You still didn’t like taking late night trains or watching horror movies with your friends. You definitely didn’t enjoy walking the empty corridors of UA.
Pull yourself together, (Name)...
It’s just the school. No one’s here. No one can-
Somewhere in the distance, you heard a door slam.
“Ofuckofuckofuckofuck,” you stammered, picking up your pace and rushing off in the direction of your office. Your shoes clattered against the hard floor and you were sure you heard a second set in pursuit.
You threw yourself into your office and closed the door behind you, immediately rushing to crouch under your desk. Someone, or something, hovered outside. You could practically see the newspaper headlines: Guidance Counsellor Found Dead in Violent Attack .
Every cloud had a silver lining, you supposed. You could see your train pass on the cabinet.
Whoever was outside your office rattled the handle and then stepped inside and you clapped your hands over your mouth to stifle any sound.
What could you do? None of the teachers were around and your quirk wasn’t suitable for fighting. Suddenly, you wished you had agreed to Hizashi walking you home. You took a deep breath, willing yourself to do something. You weren’t a teacher or even a pro hero, but you couldn’t sit by and do nothing.
But what could you do?
The intruder’s footsteps grew closer and you reached for your purse, frantically digging through it for pepper spray. Even if you couldn’t fight off this assailant, you could disable them just enough to get away and raise the alarm.
You tightened your grip on the can and released the cap with your thumbnail.
It was now or never.
You bolted out from underneath the desk with a screech and sprayed the intruder with a faceful of pepper spray, causing them to cry out in pain. You covered your face and ran for the door, only to fall flat on your face, arms and legs bound. You struggled against the bindings, rolling over onto your back to get a good look at your attacker.
H..hUH?
You didn’t know what you had expected, but you definitely couldn’t have predicted the sight before you. It wasn’t an intruder...it was Shouta and he was desperately rubbing his eyes and cursing. The material binding you was his scarf.
“Sh...Shouta?”
He paused, lifting an arm from his face and squinting down at you. He took in the sight of you, frozen on the floor with your arms and legs bound in place and sighed, returning it to its regular state.
“I’m so sorry,” you said, getting back to your feet, “I thought-”
“What the hell did you think you were doing?” he snarled.
“I thought you were a villain!”
“That’s really not the problem here,” he said. “What are you even doing here?”
“I...I forgot my train pass,” you said, wringing your hands. “I’m sorry. I should have just bought a new one.”
Shouta continued to rub his eyes with a groan and you reached out for his arm.
“Come with me,” you said, “that’ll just make it worse.”
You weren’t a hero, but there was something you could do.
You guided him to the empty staff room and murmured yet more apologies as you turned on the lights. Shouta curled up on the couch, rubbing his eyes and cursing under his breath.
You stole glances as you ran a cloth under the tap, chewing your bottom lip and feeling more than a little bit guilty.
“Here,” you said, squeezing excess water from the cloth and walking back to the couch. “This should help.”
You knelt down beside him and dabbed the cloth over his eyes as gently as humanly possible, wincing at the sight of how red and puffy they had become. You’d never used pepper spray before and almost certainly used far too much.
Shouta groaned in discomfort the moment the cloth touched him, but remained perfectly still.
This was the first time you had been alone since the reset and you found yourself tongue-tied.
You had slept together twice now, yet you still found it difficult to read him. He was the human embodiment of still waters and you had no doubts that his innermost thoughts were as much of a tangled mess as your own. He was just better at hiding them.
The morning of the reset, you had given up on sleeping. You were unable to stop thinking about the man in your bed; the man you thought you would never see again but would have to see almost every day.
You hadn’t been able to sleep after that, instead putting in a load of laundry and getting an incredibly early start on breakfast. When Shouta rolled out of bed at 6am, you had washed and dried his discarded clothes and folded them on your bedside table, as well as putting together an enormous breakfast and fresh pot of coffee.
“So,” you had said as he rubbed his eyes. “The reset.”
“Yes,” he said, dragging on his shirt and giving it a confused sniff. “Tomorrow is day one.”
That was the last he said on the matter and the longest conversation you had had in months.
Until now, of course.
“Does it still hurt?”
You sat back on your heels and lowered the cloth onto your lap, watching as Shouta squeezed his eyes shut and then, very slowly, attempted to open them. He immediately seemed to regret it, for he flinched and began to squint.
“I’ll get more water, just a-”
You moved to stand up, only for him to take hold of your arm.
“Why would you try and confront a villain without help? You could have gotten yourself killed.”
“I wasn’t going to fight,” you said. “I was going to raise the alarm.”
“Oh, and then what? You’ve exposed yourself to the villain without knowing what their quirk is. They could have set you on fire or gassed you or something.”
“I…”
You weren’t a student, he wasn’t your teacher, yet somehow it felt like being in detention.
“I don’t know,” you said.
“You need to be more rational in these things,” said Shouta, closing his eyes again. “Running head on into danger gets people killed.”
You were quite glad he’d closed his eyes. You couldn’t stifle the smile breaking out across your face.
He wasn’t angry at you at all. Stern, yes, though only out of concern for your safety.
“Good job I had a big, strong Eraserhead around to protect me,” you said, booping his nose with the cloth before getting to your feet. You expected him to protest, but he stayed silent, barely moving even as you ran the cloth under the cold tap.
“You’re not a pro hero,” he said.
“No, I’m not.”
“Then why are you here...in a school for pro heroes?”
You switched off the tap and squeezed excess water from the cloth.
“Are you questioning my credentials, Professor Aizawa?”
“Not particularly,” he said. “It’s important to know the strengths and weaknesses of your team.”
“You could have looked at my file, you know.”
“Too much hassle. I wanted to ask you in person.”
You returned to the couch, cloth in hand. You got the impression that this was a test. Perhaps he already had looked at your file and was suspicious of you as a result. You wouldn’t blame him in his position, given the nature of your quirk and role in the school. He cared about the students far more than he would ever let on.
“Well,” you said, dabbing his eyes. “It’s true I’m not a pro, but I do have a quirk. It’s not… a particularly conventional one, though.”
Shouta stayed silent, waiting for you to continue.
“My quirk is a lie detector,” you said. “I can force people to tell the truth.”
“How do you activate it?”
“I say a little phrase.”
“Show me.”
He squinted at you, watching your body language. You were familiar with this dance; people learning what your quirk was and immediately wondering if you had used it on them without them realising. You got the feeling it ran deeper with Shouta. He wasn’t as interested in seeing your quirk as how comfortable you were using it on other people. Were you the type to proudly abuse your power? Did you take it lightly?
In truth, you weren’t comfortable using your quirk. Not at all.
“Tell me,” you said, goosebumps breaking out across your skin at the activation. “What’s your happiest memory?”
“There was a roof,” he said, without a moment’s hesitation. “My friends were there-”
You chose that question as you had believed it would be harmless. The horror in his eyes as he realised what he was saying, though, made you wonder if you had made a terrible mistake.
He clamped his mouth shut, eyes shining red.
You realised your skin no longer tingled. He’d erased your quirk.
“I…I’m so sorry,” you said, immediately overwhelmed by guilt. “I didn’t-”
“It’s fine,” he said, closing his eyes. “I’ve given it back now.”
It wasn’t fine, though. You had seen enough to know that. You clenched your hands in your lap, all too aware of the water soaking your skirt.
“I’m sorry,” you said again, unable to think of anything more coherent.
“Answer my question,” he said, far more gently than the first time. “Why did you come to a school for pro heroes?”
You thought about the scars on his body; the flash of horror at what should have been his happiest memory.
“Because,” you said, “heroes are more likely to get lost.”
Shouta glanced at you out of the corner of his eye and you blushed, worried you had said something embarrassing. He reached down into your lap for the cloth and placed it on his face.
“It’s getting late,” he said. “You should go home.”
“What about you?”
“Don’t worry about me,” he said, “I still have some stuff to do.”
“Can I at least make you some coffee?”
“Nah.”
You reached for your purse, albeit reluctantly, making sure to check and double check that you had your train pass. You couldn’t believe how much chaos it had caused.
“Are you sure you don’t want anything? I can get you some candy from the vending machine.”
Shouta had rolled over onto his side with his back to you and waved you away.
“Don’t think too much about it, just go.”
The school corridors didn’t seem so scary on your way out. The shadows didn’t seem quite so dark, nor your footsteps so loud. You were too distracted to truly pay attention, racking your brains for some way to make it up to Shouta. Perhaps you’d bring him lunch one day or make him his favourite snacks. Hizashi would know the kinds of things he liked to eat. You decided to ask him in the morning.
The lights were still on in the 1-A homeroom and you peered inside as you passed. From the looks of things, Shouta had been in the middle of marking. That wasn’t what drew your attention, though.
In his haste to leave the room and investigate the commotion, he hadn’t bothered to switch off the radio on his desk, instead leaving it to play to itself. Hizashi’s voice was more than a little distinctive and you knew within seconds that it was his show.
“ Now then, listeners, it’s time for our nightly poll! Tonight is a really difficult one, submitted by user rokstar88. When reborn into your next life, would you rather have no hair on your body at all or be completely hairy, like a yeti? Results are in after this short break.”

Where, when and how - maknae line
Pairing: maknae line member x reader
Wordcount: 1.0k words
Genre: smut, fluff, (Taehyung’s contains a fair bit of angst)
Rating: 18+
Hello lovelies! Since quarantine is separating many lovers all around the world I thought about how the boys would handle being away from their girlfriend. It’s obviously smutty. Every piece is about 1000 words each.
Trigger warning: swearing; smut, hinted and sometimes pretty descriptive, really it depends. LOADS OF SEX TOYS (it was supposed to be a sex-toy themed thingy because yay!self-love and yes, you can use them together with your significant other too), some mild bdsm here and there, praise kink (you know where it comes from), swearing and alcohol (nothing extreme, just tipsy), masturbation and that should be pretty much everything. Also, nipple piercing? Tae is frustrated, Jimin is the bratties brat to ever brat (takes one to know one LOL) and Koo is a switch (and by switch I mean he’s shy but nasty, and I still don’t know what’s his trigger).
You can find the hyung line here
Pssst--- here is my masterlist---
Jimin
You loved listening to Jimin, especially when he came home in the evening and told you about his day. You loved chitchatting while preparing dinner, you loved having his head on your lap, his fingers intertwined with yours, your free hand caressing his scalp and handcombing his hair. You loved his tenderness, his voice growing sleepy as it got late. You loved climbing in bed and feeling his hand snake around your waist from behind you, naturally and innocently palming your breast as he fell asleep.
You were listening to his voice through the speakers of your phone, video calling each other as you made dinner and he had a brunch together with the boys in Paris. Last night it had been their last concert of the European Tour and soon they would be heading back to Seoul, even though their schedule included a couple weeks in the US before actually returning to their motherland. He wasn’t yet allowed to tell you their plans but supposedly they had to meet a coreographer and visit a couple studios.
It was extraordinarily hilarious to watch him talk as he filled his mouth with continental breakfast, sickeningly sweet apple juice and pain brioche and bacon endlessly flowing around him. Every now and then he interrupted himself to reply to the boys, who sometimes appeared behind him, sleepy, a bit groggy and absolutely exhausted. Suga was propped on his elbows against the countertop, his eyes closing again as he waited for coffee, Namjoon, with a disgusted expression hugged the sugar bowl to his chest and poured a worrying amount of sweetener in his oversized cup of coffee. JK, his shirt sweaty, was drinking a smoothie after his morning workout. Taehyung was nowhere to be seen, but knowing him, he was probably still sleeping.
“Jin hyung yesterday had a flimsy shirt. I think we have never seen that much skin of him! It was so windy!!!” Jimin said, imitating the shirt lifting, his teasing voice all out while his eyes disappeared in a big smile.
You had held on pretty fairly for the whole tour, always taking twenty minutes to have a chat almost every day. You had visited him mid-tour in New York for a couple days, but otherwise you had endured the distance with a tight-lipped smile.
But right now you felt your heart chipping slightly, tears coming to your eyes. You promptly swiped them away.
Jimin, always so attuned to your emotions, noticed it right away. “Baby, are you okay?”
“Yeah, it’s the onions!” You smiled and quickly went back to your cooking. But he knew. Seventeen more days until he could see you again. And hold you. And lose himself in you again. He wasn’t bold enough for steamy video calls like Tae. And it’s not like those could provide the kind of emotional support that made him crave for intimacy and reassured him after it. But still, he wanted you to know.
So that night, after making his suitcase, he entered a website he had been tiptoeing around for a while and started exploring, sometimes with shame tinting his cheeks, sometimes with curiosity capturing his stare, sometimes with desire warming his loins. After a thorough analysis of every single category, he checked the basket and proceeded to shipping and payment.
A couple days later you awoke to pictures flooding your twitter feed, your beautiful boyfriend and his six band mates walking out of the LAX airport, Jimin wearing a flowing, quite see-through sky blue shirt embroidered in lilies, his delirious ballerina legs clad in his usual skinny black jeans. Blonde and gracious, lips pouty and pink, sunglasses on, he waved at the crowd and disappeared inside a grey van with a flirty grin. You barely held in a moan. And the long time without any kind of intimacy was most definitely getting to your head. Your fingers toyed with the edge of your panties, almost ready to give up on your intention of waiting for Jimin to come back and get you wild. But right in that moment your doorbell rang and you quickly donned a robe to answer the door. As you saw the delivery boy from the security cam, your first thought was that you had not ordered anything and out of suspicion you properly got dressed. But when he got to your apartment’s door he mentioned the name of the sender and everything made sense, though you hadn’t quite expected a surprise. You thanked him and got inside, package in hand, straight to the kitchen where you grabbed a knife and tore the seal. It was quite heavy and big, and the tag name was not recognisable. With increased curiosity, you opened the lid and saw a small envelope. It had been typed but it seemed to be signed under Jimin’s safe name, Your angel fairy.
“There are things you promised me and things I promised you for when I come back. But there is just one thing we both promised to each other for eternity. And that is Love. Every single object in here is only aimed at that. For a loving heartfelt and gentle as a cherry. For a loving playful and childlike like tickles. For a loving sparkling like twin falling stars. For a loving loyal and enthralling like chains of gold. For a loving sturdy and stinging as wood and leather. For a loving precious like a gem. And finally for a loving eternal as the darkness of the night. To my beloved,
From your angel fairy.”
He had really splurged on this.
You bit your lip in anticipation and tried to guess who was who. Because for those seven types of loving there were seven corresponding items. The first one had to be the massage candles. You once had told him you wanted to try and massage him with those and probably cherries were his fragrance of choice.
The second must have been the tickler, the delicate white feathers perfectly matching Jimin’s personality and taste. Twin falling stars was a bit trickier but at the bottom of the box you found a smaller elegant box containing a delicate chain with two star-shaped, sparkly nipple clamps, which you absolutely adored.
The chains of gold must have been the fine jewellery harness designed to wrap around your neck, snake down between your breasts and loosely hang around your waist in multiple strings.
The wood and leather must have been the double sided paddle, one softened with some padding and leather, the other nothing but unforgiving hardwood. A corner of your mind went back to that time he had brought your large wooden hair-brush on top of your bed and asked you if you wanted to try it on him, you remembered how you had curled a hand around his cheek, comforting and reassuring him, praising him, showing that there was nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. The bright red colour of his behind the morning after, your worried expression and his face hiding in your neck when he told you not to worry because he had enjoyed every second of it.
That loving, precious like a gem, could be nothing but the buttplug, which you had confessed you wanted to try on yourself during your last escapade in New York. You looked forward to that.
And finally the darkness of the night - the blindfold. Black and silken.
“A little bird told me you received a package... How do you like it?” There it was, Jimin’s text. You couldn’t wait for that little brat to come back home.
Taehyung
Brazil was beautiful. A beautiful hot mess. He felt sweat in his every nook and cranny, the humidity sticking to his skin even though it was almost midnight. As he got out of the shower he looked at himself in the mirror. He still felt messy.
He also felt like calling you. Right then and there.
He felt like being at home and walking in your shared room naked and getting head from you. With the windows open and some night breeze flowing in.
“Thinking about you.” He simply texted.
“Just out of a meeting. Can’t wait to head home.” You replied. “But I still have a lot to do.”
“I miss you in my bed.”
“Do you, now?” You were half walking half texting, waiting to get your lunch.
“I need you to get rid of some steam...”
“Tonight, promise.” As your order was ready, you quickly proceeded to eat.
Taehyung didn’t reply. He was tired and you were busy.
He collapsed in bed shortly after putting down his phone.
His sleep was troubled, he woke up tangled in the sheets, his leg thrown over a mountain of pillows and his hips were agonisingly pressing against the humid white cotton. Again, he felt sweaty. And turned on. He felt compressed. Like a clown inside a box that jumps out when you open it. He wondered what it would take for his box to be opened.
When he woke up he saw your “good morning” text, replied quickly before rinsing his face and hitting the gym in the hotel. He overworked himself in hope it could get the thought of you out of his head. Instead, every exercise had him thinking about new ways to fuck you, a stronger, healthier body meaning nothing but much more force and more experimental and effective angles. Jungkook and Jimin obviously noticed, while Namjoon and Jin kept obliviously running on the treadmill.
“You think he’s angry?” Asked Jungkook.
“Just repressed. We should tell the girls to warn his girlfriend. Maybe we should have her come meet him.”
“The trip is long and she’s gonna be jet-lagged out of her mind. Let’s just tell the girls and have the two of them figure it out.”
Jungkook told his girlfriend through text: “Can you tell Tae’s girlfriend to call him? He’s getting sour.”
“Told her. She said she on it. Luv you. Later.” Jungkook blushed thinking about his plans for later that night and then moved on with his exercises.
Taehyung kept bench pressing like he wanted to lift the whole world with his two bare shouders.
At around four pm, his phone far away from him to keep him from doing something stupid, Taehyung was stage rehearsing, his voice rougher and angrier than ever, his whole body craving for release and intimacy. At this point Yoongi too had noticed, giving a small side glance to Jimin, who shook his shoulders in hopelessness.
As he grew more and more insufferable, Namjoon saw it was almost six pm and called for a break, immediately nearing Taehyung and taking him aside for a while.
“What’s wrong.” Namjoon didn’t approach the matter softly.
Taehyung took a pause. Namjoon was almost tempted to call Jimin. Maybe he knew how to deal with this. Maybe he was too rough, too direct or too logical rather than emotional, he could —
“I miss her, hyung.” Taehyung said. Namjoon exhaled heavily. He knew how that felt. “I miss her and we call each other every day, we text, but it’s so bad. I miss everything about her. I thought it was a crush and that it would be easy. After all we’ve been dating for a couple months and...” Namjoon waited, his eyes fixed on Tae. “But I think I’m in love. It’s like, here.” He pressed his fist between his ribs and his stomach. “And I’m so tense, all the time. At night it’s even worse. I haven’t been sleeping much.”
Namjoon waited as if to let him speak, but apparently he was done. “Do you want to call her? Take the rest of the day off and we go on without you?”
“She’s sleeping right now. Fucking time zones. And if I call her, it will get worse.”
Namjoon knew. The wanting, the longing. It just intensifies.
Namjoon checked his phone. “Okay. Rehearsal’s almost over anyways. You just need to survive a couple more songs, then we’re gonna take a night just the seven of us, yeah?”
Taehyung nodded.
“Also, schedule a video call. We’ll be in London in four days and time difference will be easier.” He patted his shoulder. “And please, get laid. Or you can take it out on the stage tomorrow. Army will go feral if they see you like this.”
Taehyung chuckled.
“Do we have anything scheduled tomorrow morning?”
“Concert tomorrow night so no schedule until 11. Jin, JK and I are hitting the gym at nine, if you wanna join.”
“We‘ll see.” Tae smiled. He felt better.
Rehearsal ended up okay after that, Taehyung in a more playful mood. As soon as he got to his phone he saw one of your texts, he was tempted opening it right away, but he waited when he saw it was a lengthy voice note.
He arrived in his hotel room and hit the shower straight away. He was supposed to meet the others in half an hour, and he knew if he laid down and listened to your text he would get distracted and call you. As he got out of the shower he got dressed and sat on the bed, his phone tempting him. Damn it. He opened the text.
“Taehyung-“ A heavy breath. “I’ve been missing you.” Your voice was soft and delicate, almost sleepy. “It’s five am and I can’t sleep.” A raspy moan followed and he had to rewind the text and turn up the volume. Moan confirmed. “I can’t stop thinking about you. Your hands on me, everywhere. The way you kissed me before you left.” This time the moaning was clearer and louder. “Every time I touch myself I feel like my fingers aren’t long or strong enough compared to yours.” Tae felt that comment in his bones. He would be late to dinner anyway. From his phone you emitted a small whimper. “Good, the way you went down on me. I’ve tried toys that could possibly substitute you as long as you’re away but no toy could ever look at me like you did that night, with your mouth latched on my clit and your hand grasping my thighs.” He could almost taste you. God, that night had been indecent to say the least. “I can’t wait to have you back. I’m gonna have you laid out in bed, spread wide on top of the sheets and I’m gonna ride you until I can‘t even remember how much I missed you.”
Now Taehyung moaned himself. He texted you. It was nine am in Seoul, that meant you were at work, that meant you’d be worked up all day long.
“I’m free tomorrow morning. That is tonight, to you. I wanna see that nasty shit you’ve been up to with my wanna-be substitute. Maybe if you’re good enough I’m gonna send you a little something too. But you’ll have to earn it.”
He was already going to send you a golden necklace with a vibrating pendant anyway.
Jungkook
He didn’t let himself think about you much. Just ten minutes in the shower. Sometimes eight were enough, it just depended on how turned on he was. Even though your trip to Australia was making things difficult, you still managed to see each other every day or so. Sometimes you just had dinner with a screen in front of each other, chatting about your day. Sometimes you called after dinner, a glass of wine, some laughter, the boys coming in every now and then to say hi and ask how you were doing. Other times it was strictly the two of you, your soft voice reassuring him as he confessed how he was feeling. This distance had seriously improved your communication, especially since there was no way to use body language to express feelings and emotions. You reminded him daily that you love him, always telling him before you closed the call. He told you daily about what was going on and how he felt about it. He really hoped you would keep being so talkative when you came back. Most importantly, he hoped you would keep praising him. Sometimes he did exactly what you wanted so that you would praise him. He realised that the more he expressed how he felt, the more loving and praising you grew.
Your stay in Australia was supposed to last a little more than five weeks. Three weeks had gone by quickly, always busy with paperwork or work appointments. However, lately you had started missing Jungkook a little bit too severely. You knew he was shy and you would never press him into doing anything he didn’t hint at you. So when one night, after a glass of wine too many, he started talking about how much he missed your body, you replied encouragingly, leading him on.
“What do you miss about it?”
“You know. Waking up beside you. Feeling you next to me early in the morning.”
“I miss that too. Starting the day without you in the shower is difficult,” you teased, pushing it a little.
He blushed a little. “Do you miss that too?”
“I miss all of that. Do you?” You filled your glass once more. Maybe it would help you loosen up a little.
“You know I do.” He mirrored your gesture and took a sip.
“It feels good when you say it,” you answered, undoing a button of your blouse.
“I miss your body a lot. Even though I don’t usually think about it. It gets worse,” he said, eyes were glued to your fingers.
“I’m happy that you told me. It makes me feel like I’m not alone in this.”
“You are not alone. But I wish I was there.” He was going to evaporate.
You took a deep breath.
“What would you do if you were here?”
“Kiss you. Straight away. I’d hold you so tight I’d almost suffocate you.” He didn’t hesitate one second before answering your question. But then he took a long pause. “I would pick you up, wrap your legs around my waist. Lay you down on the bed. Kiss you harder.”
You licked your lips. “Have you been hitting the gym more often lately?”
He was a little bit confused by your question but he nodded.
“It shows. You look stronger. Makes me wonder how good it will be when we do it again.”
His mouth hung open. “I—“
“Use your words, sweetie.”
His situation got even worse as he blushed for the nickname. And then his whole demeanour did a 180. “Forget the bed. I think I’m gonna slam you against the wall. You’d be wearing a skirt and it would be so easy to slip inside you.”
You worded the next sentence carefully. If you pushed it too much, he would emotionally ball up like a hedgehog and shut you out. “Would you have me against the wall?”
“Fuck you standing? Yes, babe.” He pressed his tongue against his cheek, then clenched his jaw. His hand was laying on his thigh, slipping slowly to his crotch. Nothing you were going to notice since his camera was on his face and part of his chest.
“But you know I’m heavy, right?”
“You’re not that heavy. I can pick you up if I want to. And lately you’ve been looking thinner. I hope you’re eating. I love feeling you up,” he purred.
“I’ve been working out too. I have to get you out of my head.”
“What do you need to get out of your head?”
“All the things I want from you.” You needed him to push you a little.
“What do you want?”
“I want you inside me.”
“Yeah, and? Come on, babe, use your words.” His smile was borderline sadistic as he used your own words against you.
“Messy, sweaty. I don’t care if it hurts. I want you to fuck me so hard I’ll be feeling it for days afterwards.”
He moaned a little at that. How tight you would feel around him... He realised it was the right moment to tell you. “I got us something.”
“What?”
“It’s supposed to arrive by the time you’re here.”
“Really? What is it?”
He took a deep breath and then he started spitting out words at an alarming rate.
“The other day at the gym there was this couple doing something like couple yoga or something, and she was hanging from a hammock of sort and I couldn’t help but think about how intimate it was and how much I wanted to do that with you and I got us a swing.”
“You what?” You brought the glass to your lips again. Smiling.
“I got us a swing.”
“What kind of swing, baby?”
“That kind of swing. I saw it in a... video, sometime ago, and I remembered it and I wanna use it with you. If you want to, I mean, we don’t have to—” He babbled adorably.
“What if I want to?”
He inhaled and took a sip of wine.
“I can’t wait to use it with you. I keep imagining the sound of you slamming against me. I’ll moan for you so loud and lovely that everyone will know you’re loving me nice and good. You’re amazing, Koo.”
He basked in your compliment. “Come back home soon. Otherwise I’ll have to come and get you. Cuff you to my own wrist and bring you back to my side, where you belong.”
“Can’t wait to put my hands on you. My mouth,” you murmured, one more button coming undone.
“You can’t right now, but if you take off your shirt maybe you might convince me to take the first plane to Sydney.”
His hand had already undone his belt and he was almost going to undo the button of his jeans when you said, “do you think I could convince you if I told you I’m not wearing a bra right now?”
He looked shocked. “You should show me.”
You quickly undid your blouse and let it hang open. That’s when he noticed something glittering.
“Is it...”
“I thought I could use the time away to get it done, so it can properly heal.”
Right there, on your right nipple you let the small piercing show.
“You’re so getting fucked when you come back. First I’ll get my tongue on that and you know exactly where it’s gonna go next.”
You grinned devilishly. “Good, because it’s all I’ve been thinking of.”

A message popped up on your laptop screen. It was one of those messages from an online dating app you had been using the past week, and you couldn't wait to delete the stupid thing off your laptop. Why, you ask? You were on a deal with a friend who was trying to get you hooked up with someone, so she helped you install the app into your laptop and she guaranteed you that you would get picked up in no time. The only problem was that you didn't want to be picked up. You were perfectly fine living alone, the peace and tranquility of being alone had become your favourite thing to look forward to at home after work. But being friends with her for 10 years, you decided that it wouldn't hurt, and she wouldn't know anything if you didn't tell her. You roll over back to your desk on your roller chair and click a cross on the popup, before rolling back to your cabinet and sorting out some files for work.
Ding
"Ugh," You groaned and shoved the files back into the cabinet, annoyed. You rolled to the desk, opening the app and looking at the notifications. Someone had left you 2 messages, the first one you had crossed away.
OS0162: Hello! I saw that you were reading a Japanese book in your profile photo. Are you Japanese, or learning?
You frown and process the information. Nobody had ever commented on your profile photo and the Japanese book.
You: I spent some years in Japan when I was younger so I can read Japanese, but I'm Korean by blood.
You hit send, muting your computer and closing the window. After clearing the cabinet, you roll back to your laptop and notice more notifications.
OS0162: Oh, sweet! I'm Japanese, but I'm in Korea now. The book you're reading is really good, and I love the plot.
You frown again, pleasantly surprised. Nobody you knew was aware that the book even existed. But you weren't so quick to buy into his words.
You: Really? What's the plot about? Have you read it?
You hit send again, trying to test his sincerity.
OS0162: I have! More than once! Yakuno travels back to his father's castle through water portals and he freaks when he finds out that Miwanaki had been taken hostage by the government. I won't spoil the ending for you, if you haven't finished the book.
You have, and that was exactly how the book went. He wasn't lying.
You: Cool, so what brings you to Korea?
Send.
OS0162: Parents' family business.
You blinked.
You: Training to become heir?
Send.
OS0162: You could say so, but I'm not the most keen on running around and making sure my henchmen do what they are supposed to do. I kind of have other plans I want to do instead of living my life because I was born into my family.
You paused to wonder and noticed his profile photo was of his back, and yours was of the crown of your head as you were reading the book. Neither of you knew how each other looked.
This is ridiculous.
You shake your head and huffed, shutting off your personal laptop and using your work allocated one instead.
The sun had set and your colleagues began trailing out of the office building one by one, sometimes in two. You were one of the youngest employees, but seated in a supervisor's office. You had a heavier load than your colleagues, and though sometimes it held you back in that boring four-walled room way longer than you colleagues, you didn't mind at all. You loved your work, and nothing could ever tear you away from it, not even that dating website.
"Bye, y/n, don't go home too late," The last standing colleague of yours knocked on your opened office door, her bag in hand.
"I'll see you tomorrow," You smiled at her and waved.
You pushed your hair backwards, leaning forward and saving your work on your work laptop. Closing it, you looked over to your own personal laptop and saw the sticker of Yakuno, the character from the Japanese book, pasted on the back of it. You had spent the first decade of your life in Japan, and your best friend had gifted you that book, the same physical book you were holding in your profile photo you used on the dating website. Your best friend had specially printed a whole sheet of stickers of characters and objects from the book to gift to you before you had left Japan. It was the most heartbreaking thing you could remember from your childhood, because you never saw that person again. The one and only person whom you had diligently remembered every likes and dislikes, even till this day, and yet contact was never kept. It had been more than 10 years, and it hurt you to realise that your best friend probably couldn't even remember how you looked like.
You pushed open the door to your penthouse, the built-in home system turned on jazz, lo-fi music. You pulled off your blazer and your hair tie, making your way into your bathroom and turning on the tap, filling up your bathtub. It had been a long week, and you needed this. You grabbed your phone and sealed it in a small waterproof bag, just in case you drop it in your own bathtub.
Ding. 7 unread messages from Kandlelite
You roll your eyes, annoyed that your laptop and phone were so perfectly in sync that whatever happened on your personal laptop happened on your phone too.
OS0162: Hey, uh... I'm in Korea for two weeks
OS0162: Do you wna hang?
OS0162: I kinda need help with orienting myself around in Korea
OS0162: Especially in Seoul
OS0162: And Busan
OS0162: It's alright if you don't and you're busy though
OS0162: I understand
You couldn't believe it. That flitting thought sped past your mind, thinking of agreeing and actually meeting up with someone you've spent a day talking to.
"Don't be an idiot, how good of a relationship can it be if it was started online?" You locked your phone and lifted your elbow onto the edge of the bathtub, rubbing your temples with your fingers. You were slowly slipping into some kind of peace and sleepiness, before the sound of your doorbell woke you up.
"Jesus Christ, it's Friday night..." You groaned, leaning your head backwards and refusing to get out of the bathtub. The doorbell rang again. You growled and got out of the bathtub, wrapping a baby blue silk robe around yourself, pulling all of your hair to one side and making sure you look the most presentable you could be with wet hair and a robe. You looked at the intercom camera fitted onto the wall near the door, noticing that it was a male right outside, his body language looking confused and anxious. His face was covered and shadowed by his hoodie, so you couldn’t tell who it was. You frown to yourself, pressing the voice button and leaning towards the device.
"Can I help you?"
"Erm yeah... does anybody by the name of y/n live here?"
You frown more. "That's me, who am I speaking to?"
"Open the door and you'll find out," The man replied, almost like a child playing hide and seek. You pull away from the device and fold your arms. If today was the day you were supposed to die, you wouldn't be able to change it anyway. Who was to say that you were not going to be brutally murdered in your own home on a Friday night, right? You took in a deep breath and wrapped your slightly wrinkled fingers around the door handle, pulling it open with some force given the weight of the door.
You would have never forgotten those eyes even if you had dementia, or a billion things on your mind. It was Nakamoto Yuta, your best friend from your childhood.
"Hi y/n," He grinned. His teeth might've gotten larger and looked different, but the shape of his lips when he smiled hadn't changed. The way his eyes remained twinkling, some of his long fringe covering part of his eyes.
Tumblr media
"Yuta?" You whisper, like you were scared someone was going to catch you for saying something illegal. He smiled again and nodded, looking at you brightly, not bothering about how you were only in a robe and uncombed hair. He had seen you in a kiddy swimsuit more than 10 years ago anyway. You slowly and messily found a way to get your hands to unlock the gate, your eyes never leaving him for a second. He was dressed in a black hoodie, jeans and sneakers.
"I... how did you find me? Why are you here? How are you here? What--" You stopped yourself, watching him let himself in and close the door behind him.
"It's been a long 13 years, y/n. I hope you're as happy to see me as I am," He said softly, watching your eyes shift in its eye sockets and observing his facial features. You warily stretched out your arms, like there were weights holding them down. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you tiptoed and hugged him.
"I'm sorry I never kept in touch. My parents always told me I'll see you again soon, until your parents decided not to come back to Osaka," Yuta had his arms around your lower back, careful not to touch anywhere inappropriate.
"No, oh my God," You pulled away, tears now in your eyes threatening to fall. "I never blamed you. There wasn't anybody I could blame even if I was really angry. I tried looking for you, but I just... I googled your name everyday in high school!" You laughed softly, sniffling and rubbing your eyes.
"Well then," He was now holding your hands between the two of you. "About how I found you... you can thank yourself for that. I found you through your company's website. Your name was so high up on the rankings, that I was so happy for you. I wanted to look for you earlier, but my parents kept me under some security system to protect me from anything the outside world could offer,"
"What? What do you mean 'protect'? Are you in any kind of danger? Your family?"
"No... I... did you ever find out why exactly you grew up in Japan then had to move back to Korea?"
"No, my parents told me it was a business trip," You turned and gently pulled him to the sofa.
"Yeah, but do you know what business trip it made them stay in Osaka for 15 years, had you born there, then came back to Korea and not return to Osaka?" Yuta was now sitting down next to you, his eyes still fixated on you.
Tumblr media
You shook your head. It never occurred to you that the business trip and why they chose not to return to Osaka was related.
"Your parents were working with mine, and it was apparently a very dangerous business. Your parents never went back because it was under the safety protocol. They needed us separated because we were children, too big and too easy of some few targets to threaten the business with.”
You listened intently, confused. You never knew your parents were handling such a dangerous business. After you came to Korea with them, they just let you grow up like any other kid. Study hard, go to university, get a job, work to the top. Whatever your parents' lives had been in the first 12 years of your life was unknown to you. They covered it up so well and so carefully, it never occurred to you that you could've been in any trouble.
"I only found about this a few years ago, when my father told me the business was now stable and fixed. He wanted me to start preparing to take over the business, but before I could do that at home, I needed to find the Korean half of it for a merger sequence. Your parents now live in--"
"Busan," You looked at him, ready to break out in laughter. "You're on Kandlelite. OS0162. OS for Osaka and the numbers... it’s your birthdate reversed," You laughed. Yuta was confused for a moment, before he realised what you were talking about.
"No way, you're the one I've been talking to the entire day? Man, the odds..."
Tumblr media
"I know, right? Lord, I just... the last thing I expected on a Friday night in the middle of July is for you to show up on my doorstep after virtually talking to you the entire damn day," You sigh and lean back in the sofa, running your fingers through your damp and uncombed hair. He smiles.
"It's a really nice place you've got here,' He says after a minute of silence.
"You say it like you don't have a nicer place to stay, given what your parents are doing," You joked, nudging him on the side.
"You mean our parents. Your parents are as equally as well to do as mine, and no, I told my dad I didn't want a nice five star hotel."
"What? Then where are you staying? For two weeks, right?" You sat up straight again, giving him the same look you always gave him when he took something of yours and hid it somewhere when you were younger.
"I'm staying at a loft that's more traditional Korean," Yuta nodded. "Just about 20 minutes away from your place,"
"20 minutes? That's great. You can check out now and stay here! I'll bring you around Seoul and Busan for the next two weeks," You got off the sofa and stood up, excited.
"You really didn't change much, y/n. Still the same girl I knew back in Osaka," Yuta blinked at her, then looked away and around. "Are you sure though? Don't you have work? I can't just suddenly crash your place like this,"
"Oh, come on! I can apply for leave until you're done with Korea. And yes, I have more than one bedroom, tons of space and even if I didn't, I would definitely make time for you. Besides, you hate staying at hotels and lofts," You raised a brow. Yuta rolled his eyes before breaking out into a large smile, nodding then agreeing to the arrangement.
It became the best two weeks of your life. It was like those 13 years was never lost and you just picked your friendship up with Yuta where you left it off. You showed him around Seoul in the first week, letting him eat all kinds of street food, visiting random tourist stores for him to pick up gifts for his family. In the second week, the two of you packed for Busan to stay with your parents for a few days. The days were filled with home cooked food by your mother and old ginseng alcohol (Insam-Ju) from your father who were both as excited to see Yuta as you were at the start of the two weeks. Yuta's schedule included visiting schools, hospitals and the poorer areas of Busan, for him to research on how he could help improve the environments through the business and what he could do to help. The business that both you and his parents had started was only dangerous because there were rival companies who wanted the ideas for themselves, with many ideas much more practical and realistic than the rival company's. Your father gave Yuta a bottle of wine that he was supposed to have with Yuta's father, but never did because of the circumstances, the same circumstances where your family was forced back to Korea due to the threats in Osaka. The last three days were spent back in Seoul, where you took him to all your favourite spots in the city. Ramen in a convenience store, a picnic by Han River, late night barbeque sessions and early morning cycling, all in 3 days. While the two weeks spanned longer than a day, it felt like it was a day, but never enough to compensate for the 13 years you had lost with him. All the times that the both of you had tough times, first relationships, first heartbreak, academic stress followed by the obligation to handle the company on Yuta's part, all done without one another and you could only imagine how easier life would've been growing up, had Yuta been with you all this time.
Your last favourite stop which was the stop you procrastinated till the end, due to how cliche it was, was the N Seoul tower. You always loved the romantic part about getting locks as a symbol of promise and eternity. While Yuta took his time admiring the view of the city at the tip of the tower, you got two locks, one for him and one for yourself, whatever promise the both of you wanted, you would write on a sticker and paste it on or write it on the lock itself with a marker.
Tumblr media
Yuta wrote his in Japanese, while yours in Korean. You eyed his features from his side profile, marveling for the last 2 weeks how well he grew up to be. He was such a handsome man, with such a bright future and with one of the kindest hearts you knew, not just because he was your best friend. You turned back to your lock, and thought carefully before printing it down in ink.
To Yuta whom I came with, I wish you happiness and love in the years to come. In success and in health, our friendship will never be replaceable. Not even if I get married. I love you with all my heart, I always have.
"I'm done," Yuta smiled at you, capping on his marker and looking at his blue lock like it was a pet. You smile back, looking around the fence for a space to lock them.
That night, the two of you decided to stay in and watch the movie that bonded the both of you: Yakuno's Fairytale. At the end of it, the both of you took deep breaths in synchronization, exhaling at the same rate and feeling some kind of peace, but at the same time, loss, knowing that he was leaving the next morning.
"You know, y/n, this was the best 2 weeks I've had in a long long time. Seeing your parents again after so long made me realise how close I was to your family before, I really wish you could see mine," Yuta looked at you, then looked at his fingers, peeling small bits of skin off the edges.
"You know I'd love to, but I have to stay and work unless it's during some official office break. I was lucky enough they let me off these two weeks," You sighed, leaning back on the pillows and watching him.
"I know, y/n, I know... I just wish the last 13 years I spent alone could have been with you. When my dad told me about the company when I was 21, I freaked, you know. I was... angry and upset because their choice, and your parents' choice, had caused us to be separated. If our parents hadn't chosen to stay in that business, we would have never been separated so... abruptly. It sucked to have realised that they told us we'll be seeing each other again soon just to get us to leave one another... only to wait 13 years,"
"Yeah, but if they didn't take it up, both of us wouldn't have been so well off," You rested your head in your palm, your elbow perched on the top of the sofa.
"I just... 13 years lost, when it could have been with you," He looked at you, his eyes glistening and his eyebrows slightly furrowed near the center of his forehead.
You watched him watch you, almost able to see your reflection in his. You chuckled to break the silence, shifting a little and pulling your legs in to yourself.
"What are you going on about now, Nakamoto?" You mumbled under your breath, your heart racing and suddenly unable to look at him in the eye.
You thought you were the only one.
"Remember when we were 10, we got lost at the Tenjin festival in Osaka together? When we were both scared, but for some God forsaken reason, I was more of a wuss than you were... and you took care of me, though I'm older than you?"
"Yeah, but you were like 2 inches shorter than me, it was easy to feel like you were the one needing protection," You snickered, eyeing him from the corner of your eyes.
"But now you're like 6 inches shorter than me," Yuta laughed widely. "Anyway, point is, y/n, 13 years was hard to get through, because as hard as I tried to forget about you, to move onto someone else, romantically, you were always at the back of my head, telling me that I was going to meet you soon, and that we were never meant to be separated."
You went quiet again, ecstatic, yet afraid of what he was going to say next.
"y/n? Hey," Yuta shifted closer and looked at you intently. You didn't even realise that tears had formed in your eyes and your nose turned sour, your line of vision blur and Yuta's face was soft around the edges, instead of his defined features. "Hey, don't cry, please don't cry," Yuta wrapped his arms around you, quietly hushing you and you buried your face in his neck.
"I missed you, so much. When I was in college, I thought I'd never see you again. I couldn't blame anybody, not my parents or yours because they did what they had to do for our sake, and it hurt, not being able to blame anybody," You croaked, the back of your throat tasting bitter. Yuta hummed in response, gently stroking the crown of your head.
"But it's alright now, isn't it? We've found each other again and..." He pulled away and cupped your face. "I believe we both never lost our feelings for one another."
He said it. The truth that you had buried deep down in your heart for a long time, for more than 13 years, had finally been put out there.
"I thought... I thought I was on my own... I thought you didn't know," You whispered. Yuta pressed his forehead against yours, reaching down to hold your hands.
"No, it wasn't just you. But I thought I was on my own too."
You laugh. Fate was such a dumb idea. Separating you two when you were the best of friends, and more than a decade later, reunite the both of you, only to reveal the truth that both of you had kept to yourselves over the years.
-
"I wish you could stay," You hugged Yuta's waist, feeling a kiss on the top of your head.
"I wish you could come," You heard him say into your ear.
"I promise I'll visit Osaka soon," You reply. He hummed, stepping back and grabbing his luggage.
"I will see you soon, I promise," Yuta says, moving away with his luggage. You nodded, waving to him.
Yuta walked into the departure hall, remembering every single moment he had with you in the last 14 days. He had wished you were there the last 13 years, and he could never tell you all the hard times he had been through. Just as he caught the last glimpse of you, he remembered what he wrote on the lock, and promised himself never to break it.
To y/n who taught me what love and friendship was, you are irreplaceable and nothing in the world could keep me away from you. When I'm done with the important things I have to do in Osaka, I will return for you, and for you only. I loved you for as long as I can remember, and it will stay like this. I promise.

This is a repost of a story I posted previously in a different format.
You are a poltergeist in a haunted house, and you are in love with a possessed artifact. However, she was taken by the last owners when they moved out. After years of gathering your power, you’re finally strong enough to leave the house and search for her.
- @writing-prompt-s
She was beauty. She was light and love. The only good thing in my dark existence.
Before her there was only anger. Rage, to be more accurate. I wanted peace. I wanted quiet. This is my house. I lived here and I died here, and that makes it mine. And yet, there is a steady stream of intruders. First it was the police to cart away my body. That was fine. I no longer needed it. Then it was a cleaning crew to scrub away the blood with their acrid chemicals and box up my things. No! Those were mine. My favourite doll from my childhood, my father’s old pocket knife, the quilt my grandmother made for me, my mother’s earrings, my beloved plants. They took everything. My home was left cold and hollow.
I was not strong enough to stop them. Not then. But the anger simmered.
Perhaps that’s why I changed.
Keep reading below or on my official website.
With the anger I grew stronger. More solid. I couldn’t tell you the exact moment I made the shift from innocent spirit or benign ghost to a poltergeist. But with the shift came power. I could pick up plates from the kitchen and hurl them to shatter against the wall while the new family ate dinner, relishing in their horrified silence as the shards fell to the floor.
This was my house. I would make sure they knew.
The family did not last long here. Perhaps because of the children. The youngest boy seemed to sense me. He cried whenever I came near. The father scolded him and told him not to make up stories. I turned the lights on and off, and his face went pale and he carried the boy out of the room. The family moved out soon after.
A ‘For Sale’ sign was put up in the yard. I could see it from the front window, though I couldn’t leave the house no matter how hard I tried. After that there was a revolving door of realtors and prospective buyers, as if they had the right to sell and buy my home out from under me. I soon learned that my nails could leave deep grooves in the walls, and that was unnerving to the people who came through. It didn’t discourage everyone. I seethed the day the ‘Sold’ sign was put up.
That family didn’t last long either.
They all blurred together after that. Should I have bothered to keep track? Stupid loud people with their stompy feet and their high pitched screams and their crying babies. Ugh. Get out. Get out!
And then she came.
Another moving day. Loads of boxes left higgledy-piggledy in my home, which had been blissfully quiet for too short a time. The boxes made me curious, they always do, and the couple blamed each other if something wasn’t where they left it, so I could go through them as I pleased. They had nice things.
Nothing as nice as what had been mine, but nothing was mine anymore. Nothing except this house.
It took a long time for them to unpack all the boxes and put everything away. This was normal. It was odd, though, that other than the essentials they needed to get through the day-to-day, the first thing they put out was a doll. A beautiful ceramic doll that must have been a family heirloom. She was set in a sunny spot in the window. Her bright blue eyes seemed to stare at me when I went over to inspect her. It shames me now, but I thought about throwing her across the room as my first warning to the couple that they weren’t welcome here. I didn’t, though. She was too pretty.
The couple went to bed. I was drifting through the house, wondering what hell I could raise to rouse them, when I noticed the doll was missing from the front window. How strange. The couple had seemed pleased with her placement, so I had not thought they would move her so soon. My curiousity got the better of me, and I searched the house for her.
I found her in the bathroom, on the back of the toilet. A strange place for such a pretty creature.
By the next afternoon, she was sat in the centre of the living room. A single beam of sunlight from the window illuminated her among the shadows of sheet-covered furniture, not yet set where the couple wanted them for the duration of their stay.
I started to suspect that there was something up with her. My suspicions were all but confirmed when the young man, upon entering the living room, paused at the sight of her and laughed. “Meg! I found Auntie Hannah! She’s in the living room.” And he picked her up and set her on the mantle. “There you go, Hannah. You’ll get dirty if you wander before we’ve got everything cleaned up.”
Wander? A doll? Dolls don’t move by themselves.
Yet over the following days, Hannah appeared in various locations around the house. The kitchen. The basement. The little room that Trevor, the man, was turning into a home office. And once, the back garden, which alarmed Meg as she scooped Hannah up and made sure she wasn’t dirty. “Hannah,” she sighed as she carried the doll back into the house. “Please stay inside.”
It was peculiar, but do not think I stopped my efforts to frighten the couple into leaving just because of some strange doll. Not at all. I wanted them gone! I smashed an antique teapot and made Meg cry. But no matter what I did, the couple thought Hannah was the culprit.
“Hannah, how could you?”
“Why are you angry?”
“Here’s a different dress. Is that better?”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with her, Trevor. She hasn’t acted like this since my cousin died and she was passed on to me.”
It was after the teapot incident that I finally saw Hannah move. I was in the living room, now a cozy little space with couches and bookshelves and pictures of smiling people on the walls as if they had a right to claim them. I was trying to decide if I wanted to throw the pictures or the spiderplants on the mantle, or both, when footsteps came behind me. They were too light to be human, and when I turned, there she was.
She stood in the doorway with her little perfectly formed fingers on her hips, her new purple dress flared around her. The purple ribbon Meg had lovingly tied into her cloud of brown curls brought out the blue of her eyes beautifully. And yet when she spoke, her face never moved.
“If you hurt Megan or Trevor, I’ll make you pay for it,” she informed me in a rich voice that I never would have expected from a doll. “They are my people, and I will make you leave if I have to.”
“This is my house.” I knocked one of the framed wedding photos to the ground to illustrate my point. “Mine. And I’ll do whatever I want.”
“You’re dead. You can’t own anything.” She stomped into the room on her doll feet and pulled herself onto the couch. “Just like me. Not even this doll body belongs to me. It belonged to Marcia, then Joan, then briefly to poor Tracy, and now it’s Meghan’s. Isn’t this house the same?”
Despite myself, I was fascinated. I couldn’t leave my house, so I only knew how being dead worked for me. I did not know that other ghosts could experience other things. It didn’t occur to me that ghosts could haunt things other than houses.
So I sat with Hannah on the couch and we talked and talked and talked. She told me that Meghan was her distant relative, a great-great-great niece or something, and that she’d been passed through the family after she had died and possessed the doll. It was so nice to have company. And unlike me, Hannah could be moved from place to place. Oh, the stories she told me! Her granddaughter Joan was quite the traveler, and she had brought Hannah to places like England, Scotland, Mexico, Nepal, Thailand, and the list went on and on. I was fascinated by her stories.
Hannah and I talked every night, and I was too busy with her to spend time making trouble. By the time I realized what she was doing, I was attached and didn’t want her to leave. And for her to stay, Meghan and Trevor had to stay.
Well, fine. So be it. I would let them live in my house if it meant my Hannah could stay.
I soon understood why everything strange was blamed on Hannah. She would go out to the garden in the middle of the night and return with bundles of dandelions, which she scattered around the house. My favourite place to skulk during the day was the basement, which the humans used for storage and so didn’t bother me. Hannah made sure to leave a couple dandelions on the basement steps for me.
I got them a little glass of water. My heart was as warm as their bright yellow colour.
The years that passed after my home became Hannah’s home were the happiest I’d spent since my death. We laughed together, and my anger with the world faded. I lost my ability to throw plates even if I wanted to.
I did not want to.
But good things never last for long.
Meghan’s pregnancy test was positive, and she and Trevor set up a nursery in the room next to theirs as Meghan’s belly grew big. Hannah was so excited. All she could talk about was the baby, and she left flowers all over the house. Meghan laughed and tucked them behind her ear. “See?” she’d say. “Hannah’s happy too!”
Then the baby came, and with it sleepless nights for Trevor and Meghan. With them up in the middle of the night, Hannah and I couldn’t talk the way we used to. Although Meghan and Trevor knew she moved, she didn’t like them to see her do it.
“Of course not! What if they make me do chores?” she demanded the one time I asked if she had considered it.
Trevor and Meghan had been among the most quiet of intruders, but the child was not. And little Damien’s volume grew with his body.
He was afraid of me.
If he saw me in his room while I searched for Hannah, he would scream and scream until his parents came running. When he was very small he could not tell them what was wrong, but he soon learned to talk and he told them about the monster. I never hurt him. I had never harmed a child, though I did sometimes frighten them on purpose. But children were more sensitive than adults and were often first to pick up on my presence.
It was no different with Damien.
“I know they said the house is haunted, but I thought it would be like with Auntie Hannah,” Meghan told Trevor one night, her voice troubled.
Trevor put his arm around her. “I know. We took a chance because the house was so cheap. And it’s worked out! Nothing bad’s happened to us.”
“But Trevor, Damien keeps talking about a monster. What if its hurting him when we’re not in the room?” Meghan would have fought a bear for her baby, I thought as I hovered in a corner of the kitchen. A monster was not much different.
I had not hurt Damien. But Meghan became convinced.
They brought home boxes.
I knew what that meant.
“Stay,” I begged Hannah. “Please, Hannah, stay. Don’t leave me.”
It was night. Everyone was asleep. I knew Trevor and Meghan planned to leave. I didn’t want them to take my beloved, beautiful Hannah.
“You could hide until they’re gone. We could stay together.”
Hannah kicked her feet against the couch. “And what if the new owners throw me away? No. Meghan is my family. I don’t want to leave you. But I know where I belong.”
I knew she was right. I knew. The thought of the next tenants finding her ugly and throwing her away filled me with rage. It was unthinkable. Meghan took good care of her. But if Hannah had to go, I wanted to go with her.
In the days that lead up to moving day, I tried to stick just my hand out the front door. I tried and tried and tried. It was like pushing against glass. I could not do it.
I could not leave.
They left without me.
Hannah was gone.
This house was my home. That had been enough, before Hannah. It never seemed so cold and hostile as it did after she was gone. I never wanted to leave before, but now I did.
Grief and rage grew within me. I could throw plates again. I did. The new owners didn’t even last a week before they moved out and put the house up for rent.
This house was mine. I had never hurt it before.
But that didn’t matter anymore.
I ripped cupboard doors off their hinges and flung them across the room. I gouged the walls. I ripped down the curtains and threw books through windows until the carpets sparkled with shattered glass. I screamed Hannah’s name over and over. No one stayed. No one new moved in. And still, I raged.
My power grew. But I lost myself. The house wasn’t mine.
The house wasn’t mine, so I could leave.
For the first time since my death, I stepped out the front door. I didn’t know where to look, but I would. I would search and search until I found my Hannah again.
Hopefully Damien would have outgrown his fear. Maybe he would even see that I could be a friend, if he wanted. If not, he could be dealt with.
Children were fragile.

June 10th-June 16th, 2020 Reader Favorites Archive
The archive for the Reader Favorites chat that occurred from June 10th, 2020 to June 16th, 2020.  The chat focused on the following  question:
How does poor web design affect if and/or how you read a particular webcomic?
carcarchu
it's a huge factor. if a comic is amazing in every way but the website or app makes it difficult for me to read i'm simply NOT going to read it. there are a lot of great series that i've put on the back burner just because the website is so annoying to navigate
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
i've honestly never run into a website so bad it stopped me from reading a comic i was interested in
carcarchu
FYI the worst comic app i've ever experienced is Aqua Kiss which I downloaded to read a single series. it's the most barebones app imaginable with no search bar. if you want to read something you actually have to manually load each calendar week to find it and some stuff are buried dozens of pages back. and to make matters worse it doesn't have a "history" or "bookmarks" feature either
Deo101 [Millennium]
The worst things with sites that I see often are 1: huge headers, and 2: laggy sites (not really site design, but its adjacent I think) Another is if the pages are too big on the screen, so you can't, for instance, see some panels all at once. Those kinds of things can really ruin a reading experience for me
carcarchu
One example of a website that is hostile to the reading experience is ZMYK which for some reason hosts vertical scroll comics but cuts them up into little pieces as if they were comic format so you can't actually scroll through the entire chapter as it was intended to
That kind of thing grinds my gears so much how can something you have to pay for be that incredibly bad
Deo101 [Millennium]
I've also seen some sites that have graphic design issues, where elements are illegible due to their color, and some have very busy and distracting backgrounds. Those kinds of things won't necessarily ruin it, but they're distracting
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
forward comic's website was doing this weird thing where the further I read the longer pages took to load. Near the end it seemed they were taking 10 full seconds. Still read the whole thing though. Reading manga on shady sites with terrible internet connection as a kid has desensitized me
Oh one comic I was interested in but didn't read because of the site: I was kidnapped by lesbian pirates from outer space. It doesn't have a website. To read it you have to pirate (hehe) copies of the archive.
It's a pretty sad story- the author was young and tricked into giving up the rights to her series
She ended up taking the site down to prevent the company from getting any more money off of it
https://rosalarian.tumblr.com/post/65353128180/its-with-extreme-sadness-that-i-announce-that-my
Here's her post about it
I think it can be a good warning message to us
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
For me, the biggest thing that deters me from reading a comic is if the website isn't well optimized for mobile (as someone who reads a lot on the go). This includes the images loading bigger than the page, or navigation being hidden on mobile, or glitchy scrolling, or any number of ungodly things. Also, too many ads. That'll turn me away in a heartbeat.
Deo101 [Millennium]
Yeah ads are definitely a huge turnoff for me too
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
FYI the worst comic app i've ever experienced is Aqua Kiss which I downloaded to read a single series. it's the most barebones app imaginable with no search bar. if you want to read something you actually have to manually load each calendar week to find it and some stuff are buried dozens of pages back. and to make matters worse it doesn't have a "history" or "bookmarks" feature either
@carcarchu okay i just digested this comment and wtf
no search bar is laughably bad omg
how did you even find out about it
Deo101 [Millennium]
Yeah that's ridiculous hahahaha
carcarchu
it's a shame because there are genuinely good comics on there you can't read anywhere else?? and i found it because an artist i adore did a series for it but it got AXED after only 2 chapters and after that was pretty much scrubbed from the internet. i think it's a shame because it really had so much potential and it ended before the story was really able to start
it's a screenshot from the app. you can see that it is categorized reverse chronologically by week
the point of aqua kiss is to emulate monthly/weekly style manga magazines but in app form. however i think the execution of this idea was horrendous
SteffieMusings
Oh no! It must make reading there so challenging. As for me, if the navigation is so hard to understand/pages don't load properly when you click a link or when the website's colours hurt my eyes so much I can't stay there for too long.
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
Honestly nowadays most of the CMS's out there share the same basic functionality and adaptability, so it's getting harder to screw up on that. Most sites are OK, if only a bit laggy. If the site takes less than 2 seconds to load and it's not so crowded that I have to look for the comic, I'm generally good.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
How much bad/inaccessible web design I'll tolerate is directly proportional to how much I care about the comic.
I've dropped a couple series in the middle of the archive just because they changed the site design to screw up the tracking of bookmarking sites, so I would've had to figure out an alternate way to keep track of it, and it didn't seem worth the effort
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Oh yeah, I've totally had that happen too where I was deep into an archive, had taken a reading break for a month or two, and came back to find the urls had been updated and my spot was lost it isn't so bad if a comic also has an archive page, but ive stopped reading a few stories that it would have been too hard to track down where I was.
DaeofthePast
I haven’t had to experience weird websites in a while, but I do sometimes go to an unknown website to read the comic/manga I’m looking for. Mostly what I’ve had trouble with is unnumbered chapters, of that it’s unclear where/how to start reading in general.(edited)
Like, I get to the page for that specific comic and then there’s no easy “start reading here” button anywhere
And when I do find the chapters list, I don’t know which end of the list is the beginning bc it’s unnumbered
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Is a "First page" button enough or are you looking for a "new readers start here" button? (<- is redisigning her page)
DaeofthePast
Is there a difference? :0
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
hm, sometimes yes.
Some old running comics have different jump-on points (schlock mercenary for example).
DaeofthePast
Ooh I see
Well when I first go on the site, I just want to start reading so idk
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
So, I always try to read every comic that's featured in the book club all the way through. Like even if I don't particularly like the opening, or if the comic is thousands of pages long, or I don't have time to meaningfully discuss the comic, I do try to at least give the comic a fair shake by reading through the entire archive. There have been four exceptions. One was because of content (it was a gag a day comic, and the content was SO horrible for SO long that I just couldn't stand it anymore. real "punching down" type of humor). Another was because the comic was literally deleted before I could get to it. The remaining two were because the site design/organization were so awful that the comics were unreadable. One of the two comics had a custom built, hand-coded site (I assume), and it just... didn't work properly. Like the "previous" button seemingly took you to a random page, the "next" button and the "latest" button led to the same place, etc. I'm not sure the creator ever bothered to test the site. The other one used some pre-built stuff, so it was ok... but you had to scroll to the top of the page to go to the next page. Not only that, but the author was posting all their comics to the same archive - which means one page would be the comic that was actually meant to be read for the book club and the next few pages were a completely different comic entirely. And this wasn't a gag-a-day either - it was a story based comic, so the three action minimum to get to the next page made things absolute hell to keep track of.(edited)
DaeofthePast
Wow
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Uff, yeah, that sounds horrible.
Nyx+Nyssa's page is currently a barebone mess, but I made at least sure the navigation works. :/
DaeofthePast
Having the comic be deleted while you’re reading it sounds like such a weird experience lmao
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
i mean, it wasn't thanos snap style lol
DaeofthePast
Was the website gone too or?
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
it was in between days
nah the website was still there, it's just that the author had decided to reboot their comic and forgot that they had submitted it to the book club
DaeofthePast
Oh okay I imagined Thanos snap style
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Not really a design but a site thing: I can't do comics without an archive of some sort. On platforms like Tapas or WT, the episode list serves that purpose perfectly fine. I personally need to be able to see how many pages there are, and I need a way to go to specific pages easily. It might sound like a small complaint, but it's a big thing for me! There have been comics that piqued my interest, but once I saw that there was no archive of any form, I left forever. Sure, I might be missing out, but there are also lots of good comics out there that have accessible archives. My life isn't long enough to read them all, so I'm letting myself be very picky.
copperine
I can manage a very basic site just fine. But if a site is hard to navigate, or just makes reading the page/getting to the next page difficult - I'd be likely to give up eventually. Doesn't matter about the quality of the comic, but if it's a chore to just read it, it's going to put me off after a while
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I will note - if you want me to actually discuss your comic in the book club, please do have an archive link, and probably a cast page too. Like the lack of one doesn't stop me from reading entirely, but I can't discuss anything without being able to look back at specific moments. (and one of those archives that just has dates doesn't count - lemme know what the chapter is!)
copperine
For example - when I read webcomics on dA, I was absolutely fine with either the author having a dedicated folder with the pages in order. Another option was to link next and prev pages in the description. But if I had to go find each next page, I just wouldn't.
DaeofthePast
By an archive do you mean kinda like a chapters list?
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
A list of all the pages, ideally
That also list the chapters somehow
copperine
Short version: if I feel like I'm spending half as much time navigating the site as I am actually reading, it's gonna get old real quick
DaeofthePast
And same copperine. As long as it’s organized well, I will probably read it
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Like maybe you click on a chapter link to get to a list of the pages, or maybe it's just a list of the pages with the chapter names as headers
some sort of organization
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Yeah! (I admit my own comic's archive page isn't the prettiest, but it's 100% functional.)
DaeofthePast
I only have a chapter list so far ^^; idk how to go about getting an archive
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Chapter list is totally fine if your chapters tend to be on the shorter side
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
I like having chapter lists around, although coding them can be a handful Not sure if to go for an archive with thumbnails or just with page numbers though.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
It's also workable if you also have like... a dropdown menu for individual pages on the actual pages? So it only takes 2 clicks to go to a specific page (first click to go to the chapter, second click to go to the page)
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
OH yeah, there was also a dA comic in the book club once that didn't have any next/previous buttons. However, it was a short comic - the bare minimum for getting into the book club - so I still read it all the way through. But it was pretty annoying to do so. (it was also pretty obviously a fetish comic, but that's not really relevant to the discussion XD)
DaeofthePast
I want to post by scene so I’ll be dividing chapters like “chapter 3 part 1” to hopefully that will be better
copperine
I'll always take functional over pretty
DaeofthePast
Haha I’m not sure if I want to know the comic for that one
Also what is “punching down” humor?
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Like, the author was a straight man, and nearly every joke was making fun of people who weren't those things.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
it's like making fun of people but
copperine
Yikes
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
you're intentially trying to put them down
that's punching down in my imo rip
DaeofthePast
Oh
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
yeah....
DaeofthePast
Well at least I know what to call it when I see it in the future ._.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Like, occasionally I see a shitty joke in a comic and I keep reading because maybe the author improved (we do sometimes get comics with archives that date back decades in here) But this comic was just so consistently awful for so long that I couldn't stand it
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
oof that aint good
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Though that's kinda off topic lol
DaeofthePast
Oh yeah
So bad site design...
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Anyway, I don't really wanna post the examples of the comics I talked about in here cuz I don't wanna call anyone out
Actually, hold on, lemme check something
DaeofthePast
I feel I haven’t had too much experience with bad site designs, but I might have just forgotten(edited)
K
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
ok yeah
so, the comic where you had to scroll up to the top of each page to click to the next one, and the site was multiple comics alternating pages that made the story rough to follow
copperine
Oof yeah having to scroll up to click next won't stop me but it is a bother
DaeofthePast
I like having the next button both on top and the bottom, even if they update page by page(edited)
It just feels convinient
copperine
Yeah same
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Re: punching up/down, here's an overly simplistic set of examples: billionaires making fun of poor people is punching down. Poor people making fun of billionaires is punching up.
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
's good webdesign pattern for everything with continous content - e.g. blogs, web-novels, webcomics.
Ideally you have one on top, between content and comments and under comments
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
the comic that alternated storylines & required scrolling back up to go to the next page was Antibunny: http://vinnied.comicgenesis.com/d/20061002.html if you see that page I linked and click next a few times, there's no obvious distinction between the main story and the spinoff story (no, like, header change between the two, and the art style looks similar), so you can see how it'd be confusing to follow and the scrolling is just icing on the cake (it used to be even worse) the only reason I feel comfortable sharing that is because the author uploaded the comics to new sites, and fixed all those issues in the process: http://antibunny.net/
DaeofthePast
Oh nice. So they realized the problem
copperine
Aren't they in this server? Or am I thinking of another one
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Yeah, the author is in this server
copperine
I thought so
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Hence why he realized, because we told him that there was a problem during the book club
copperine
I'm not gonna take anything said here as a comment on anyway btw
DaeofthePast
It’s cool that submitting their comic to the tea party resulted in some good feedback :3
copperine
You love to see it!
It always makes me happy when webcomic community stuff helps people out, that seems like the ideal outcome
DaeofthePast
Yess
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
i agree on that yeee
DaeofthePast
It’s like having a friend point out a spelling mistake. Embarrassing but you can live with the knowledge that your work is now a little bit better(edited)
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Yeah kinda off-topic, but I love it when the author of the comic for the book club joins the server. Like not only does it mean that the author could join in on others' discussions in the future (pay it forward 'n stuff), but... it's just really sad when I see a comic pop up in the book club and the author seemingly forgot they submitted it.
DaeofthePast
How long does it usually take to get to a comic? :0 that they would forget they submitted it?
copperine
I always hope I can help others out or support them, and I hope they feel the same
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
The book club had a very very long wait list in the past. These days, not so long.
DaeofthePast
And I guess if you submit a comic with a website, the people here can be your beta testers
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
what's odd is that five months ago, the wait list was six months but now, the wait list is two months y'all need to submit/resubmit your comics
DaeofthePast
I tried going to submit mine yesterday and the site doesn’t let me v.v says you’re booked for July
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
oh yeah, so it is
DaeofthePast
Maybe later :3
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
i guess Rebel doesn't want the queue to get too long
copperine
I would submit mine but I'm only at 10 pages and I believe you need to have 20 to submit
DaeofthePast
Ooh they have a minimum?
Gotta count my pages now
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I mean it makes sense. Hard to discuss a comic that only has the cover for chapter 1
DaeofthePast
XD
Tru
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
"Let us dissect this cover image for an entire week"
DaeofthePast
It would be a hilarious April fools challenge
copperine
Idk I think it was 20 minimum?
DaeofthePast
shrug
copperine
@snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights) can you shed any light on this
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
The sign up form is where you would normally find that information.
copperine
... very good point
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
But the form is currently unavailable, and it's possible that Rebel might change the requirement when it becomes available again
copperine
Ah
Thank you for the heads up
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
FYI, https://comicteaparty.com/ is where the form will be available eventually
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
They accept resubmissions now?
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
I def like arrows on the top and bottom of pages for sites to be more of a thing, as well as clicking the image for the next page too! Honestly there hasn't been a make or break, mainly preferences, and the most complaints i have are with the mobile formatting. I think most comics have been pretty solid in functionality that i've read, and it's clear that having their own website is becoming mainstream enough for there to be help, tips, and tricks to making it work!
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I definitely prefer if I can just click on the comic image to go to the next page especially for mobile.
copperine
Agreed!
Idk about resubmissions tho
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
... Wow. I absolutely HATE clickable images on mobile, because they usually mess with the pinch-zoom.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
i've had sites that didnt have image click throughs and the arrow..... was like SO TINY XD
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Didn't think anyone would actually like it, so... huh.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
i kept going back and forth
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
yeah, navigation needs to be bigger on mobile for safe tapping.
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Oh, re:resubmissions, I'm pretty sure you can if it's been long enough? I think @snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights) mentioned it recently as an option. But maybe a tangent for #general
boogeymadam
i dont mind the pinch zoom being a little more difficult from time to time cause usually the clickable image is worth it to me
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Same
boogeymadam
am also fond of sites that allow left/right arrows to let you move forward and back on desktop
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Mainly it's just for like Krispy said, reading on mobile and tiny next/previous buttons.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
ye my dummy thicc fingers prefer the click through image for sure
ohh yes Boogey that too
boogeymadam
it took me hours of googling to find the very simple comicpress option to just turn that on on my site
copperine
Mmm I do like sites that allow pinch zoom though
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I also prefer clicking on the image to go to the next page
mariah (rainy day dreams)
My fingers small, but still dummy T-T
copperine
It makes it easier to get a better look at the page
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
iweudhweiu Mariah XD
copperine
Especially if it's got smaller font
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
nyxandnyssa has a seperate navigation for mobile that's much bigger and skipping scene select to make tapping easier.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
I've had the hover text def bum me out for some comics, where you click the image and it just displays the text, then you gotta click the tiny next bar def killed me there
copperine
I've never had issues with pinch zoom affecting clickable images but I can imagine it would be annoying
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
but! never breaks me out of a comic for me to stop reading-! i persevere in the face of adversity XD
boogeymadam
i've never encountered a site so bad i couldnt continue reading. maybe stuff where i'd stop reading until i was less frustrated but i'd come back later.
DaeofthePast
That’s something I’ll have to consider for my site then
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I feel like Smackjeeves had a really obnoxious auto pitch & zoom before they updated most recently. I like when I can turn it off on my phone. I'd rather do it myself most of the time and let my phone try to auto it X')
DaeofthePast
I usually read on desktop more often than on mobile so it’s good to hear from other’s experiences
copperine
Idk I've never used a custom site yet
boogeymadam
same dae, except on tapas and webtoons!(edited)
comics with their own website i'll boot up my computer for a single update of
DaeofthePast
Even on webtoons I read on desktop
boogeymadam
omg your power, webtoons feels so choppy on desktop to me
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
im definitely lucky that our site got a mobile friendly version i remember the 'ol pinchy zoomz was tiresome on our site for sure
DaeofthePast
I get headaches from reading on my phone unfortunately :/
Idk what the difference is between reading mobile and on a desktop but my brain doesn’t like it
Like, I can text fine???? But reading a comic for some reason is like “no”
So yeah, comics on desktop for me
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
ohh!! it could be the close proximity!
DaeofthePast
Ooh :0 maybe?
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
i know i get motion sickness depending on how close/ far i am from screens
DaeofthePast
Maybe it’s something like that... :O
boogeymadam
whatever the reason sorry you get headaches and motion sickness from comics :'0
DaeofthePast
Every once in a while I’ll try again to read on mobile I never learn
boogeymadam
the only reason i dont like mobile is sometimes comics text is a combination of too small there and the font is hard on my dyslexia
DaeofthePast
Rip
boogeymadam
so i see if zooming in on my computer helps
DaeofthePast
The lesson here is that it’s good to have both mobile and desktop options
boogeymadam
yep :'D
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
ohhh yea def agree. I know that feeling and i sometimes ... have a Time reading my own work XD (i admit it lol!!)
boogeymadam
sometimes my own comic is hard on my dyslexia for The Effect so i never have hard feelings with other comics
copperine
(brb)
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
ewiudhiwue the things we do AT WHAT COST XD
DaeofthePast
Asdfghjkl
Meanwhile I use the same font for everything
boogeymadam
wait im gonna generalize this more so it can be a party
DaeofthePast
Please post that on pillowfort so I can reblog it
boogeymadam
you can post it for yourself if you want dae!
i'm having a hard time logging on asdfgjh
DaeofthePast
Rip sure
copperine
Ah see I have both
Because hand lettering
It's great for feeling right for a comic but also eternally wondering if it's readable
DaeofthePast
Ooh yeah I guess that would count as both
What’s your comic btw :0
Wait, we’re supposed to be talking about website design right
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Yep! If it gets too off topic, you can always continue in another channel that's more fitting.
copperine
Ah sorry! Sure thing
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
Mobile is too small for me
DaeofthePast
Yeah
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
(oHHMYYGOSH BOOGEY XD)
boogeymadam
mm archives were mentioned already, and how it can really turn readers away to simply not have one at all? my favorite archive is https://www.vaingloriouscomic.com/comic/archive 's but i've seen some where they attempted an all picture archive and it backfired by just being a page of all empty boxes. this didn't deter me from reading it and it got fixed pretty quick tho~ mine is one of these and its a very chonky slowmoving page cause i uploaded the first 90ish as fullsized pictures. nobody's ever complained so idk if it's ever deterred anyone from reading but i know i gotta fix it someday.(edited)
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I really dont mind any kind of web design in particular though tbh. I prefer desktop sites but it’s fine if the design isnt great
DaeofthePast
Have you guys ever gone to a comic website (for a single comic) and the colors used in the background were so bright that it felt like they were blinding you to the point it was hard to read the actual pages?
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
My archive is down right now becayse it broke and I dont know how to fix it lol
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
i def want a fully view-able archive but we're gonna be hitting 800 pages and i dont know how well that will work XD
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
But I have a navigation bar now
boogeymadam
u could have multiple pages of archive, krispy!
i'm starting a new page for chapter 2
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
Or dropdown menus
boogeymadam
but its probably important to have a dropdown if u have more than 1 page, yeah
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I want to switch to picture archives, but I haven't found a good plug in/way to get my word press to do it :( if anyone has recommendations...
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I wish I knew how to make dropdown menus
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
i'll have to bring that up ! we dont do the tech work for our site ( thank gosh seriously) but i love archives that show full pages
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
If I could make dropdown menus I would be unstoppable
copperine
I miss the drop-downs on SJ
boogeymadam
i feel like dropdowns are smth i pretty much only exclusively see on hiveworks comics
i wonder what their secret is,,,
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I’ve inspected the elements on so many hiveworks sites lol
I want to know
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
they use word press I think
for their comic sites
just have to do some digging with the site html and csss
copperine
Right click and inspect maybe...
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
Php stands for my Personal hell pit
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
if i could go undercover for yall i would XD
boogeymadam
also!! @mariah (rainy day dreams) i use elementor for mine
its not perfect and breaks like every time i update it but it works asdfg
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
... I'm currently writing a sparkling fresh wp-plugin for my page (comic easel wasn't doing what I wanted), but I am also a software dev who enjoys coding.
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
My template I use functions in mostly php and xml and its gibberish to me but functions so well I dont know how to improve it to have specific things I want
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
my knowledge with site design is basic at best lmao
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
wordpress is a bit special in that it does most things more complicated than strictly necessary.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
but I do like fiddling with stuff
^that too lmao
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
I know Shiza of osarilho is really good at web designing? she's made some beautiful work with her site!
boogeymadam
i want to ask shiza for more help but not before i have some money to pay her :')
she's helped me a lot already
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I can do html and css at the babiest level
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I'll check that out Boogey, thanks! Even if it does break X') And I guess I'll just make a note to start stashing money to hire shiza XD im definitely at the point where my site needs a general face lift, but I don't have the spoons for it.
boogeymadam
imo i've made some really pretty pges with it. it's a drag and drop that's excellent at galleries, but it doesn't like when you don't have even rows for some reason
the wordpress plugin, Elementor, i mean.
copperine
I've been wanting to try comicpress for ages
I just don't know where to start
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I'm gonna move over to #shop_talk for my response
copperine
I had someone who was gonna help me out but we lost contact so it's on the back burner
boogeymadam
OOPS yeah
copperine
But for websites in general I prefer to have one that feels very basic than one that feels too busy or crowded
I'm not a graphic designer at all lol
If I do try an independent site I'm planning to pay a coding friend to help me
DaeofthePast
yeah i have no idea what I'm doing when working on my site, it's kinda basic, but at least it looks nice
copperine
I just use a premade theme on my ComicFury site
It works and that's good enough for me so far
Oh I guess the other thing that would put me off reading a comic is if the site isn't formatted for mobile, and/or particularly if the site doesn't have adaptive formatting
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
same, but editted it hard core so it looks like it's own thing lmao
copperine
I usually read on my phone because my computer is where I work so I like to get off it for hobbies
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
but for me uh i guess mobile i try to read it either on tapas, webtoon or its own site
I find just clicking the page to the next one helps me a lot lol I don't do a lot of zooming
copperine
Mmm
copperine
It's personal preference a lot tbh!
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I like my comuter because its big
copperine
Valid
Mine is not
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
did anyone talk about paying me please you don't have to do that
copperine
Idk but you can pay me
Idk what for but
I'll take money
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I absolutely would have to if you made my site awesome X') work is work, and you should be paid for it
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
fair enough
Just send me a DM whenever you're up for that and lemme take a look at what you already have
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I would hire someone to do web design for me but I dont have the funds & I dont wnat to make someone do work for me for free
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
I've been meaning to set up my own website for a while now, since the collective i was originally hosting my webcomic with kinda fell apart, but it's so much work and i'm hella intimidated :'''D
copperine
@sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead) there's been some related discussion in #shop_talk and I believe @boogeymadam might be able to advise (I'm sure others can too but I'm going off the convo from earlier)
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
@sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead) depending on how much it is I can help you out
RebelVampire
Admin Reminder Remember this channel is for experiences as a reader first and foremost, so #shop_talk and #general are better if you want to discuss your own stuff.
DaeofthePast
thank you for the reminder :3
RebelVampire
I would say poor web design is something I have a complicated relationship regarding webcomics. On the one hand, outside of a site being 100% completely broken, I'm willing to sit through a lot to read. So in terms of affecting whether I read a comic the first time or not, there isn't much to say there. But it does affect how engaged I am with the comic. Cause if I can't easily go back to re-read a page, easily find things like character names, have to deal with extreme lag cause the host is garbage, have to deal with eye bleeding color schemes, etc. you can bet your bottom dollar 1 time is all that comic is going to get in terms of reading it. I can only subject myself to so much, and if I don't feel like reading a comic again because of the site itself, I'm going to quickly forget it in favor of comics whose sites don't make me cry. I do give more leeway to sites created by creators in many respects. But professional bigtime hosts like Tapas or Webtoons literally have no excuse for some of their garbage design choices. And some of their design choices are super duper garbage.
DaeofthePast
that's true yeah, there's a big distinction of the quality expectations between sites by small creators and those of big companies like Webtoons
RebelVampire
At the same time, though, I know from first hand experience that poor design choices are literally influenced by user data for bigger companies. So for every decision I consider stupid- at the same time they probably did the AB tests that showed crappy design A had better results for their conversion rates than user friendly design B.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Which boggles my mind
I wonder if there's some kinda causation-correlation thing going on that the A/B tests could not detect accurately
boogeymadam
Rebel mentioned sites that have eyebleedy color schemes and I'm in the same boat; will read the comic, just will be turning down the screen brightness a looot. Sites that have a huge space of extremely neon background that distracts from the comic make me reluctant to read on the site, and I'll look for a mirror before trying. That white background of the 2 big comic hosting sites can at least be affected and turned dark by nightmode when needed, while nightmode doesn't work on half the bright comic sites I've tried it on. u-u

Pokemon Yellow Nuzlocke: Part 1
Hello! Greetings. This website seems determined to change how it works every week or so. It's revolting. I still haven't gotten around figuring out how to archive. Assuming there is a way to do so. Soundwave's apparently worked something out, but nothing for the long term. Until they stop fiddling with the site itself, then there's no figuring out a permanent system. Eugh. Any hints as to what this is? A short film that should have won at the Oscars and didn't. And I've been incredibly surly over this. I see... Unattended children die in a clay mire? And how! hello! Hello there! Hello. what is happening here Bad decisions. good times, then In an asbestos mine -- nobody's favorite mineral to eat. Too late then. He died as he lived -- choking on lungs full of cold, wet, sucking asbestos and groundwater. how very existential A cautionary tale in not allowing children to wander. It's very Cybertronian!
Alright. Now let's see if we can get this emulator working. Flawless paragon of its kind, truly Oh, there we are! Is the sound alright for everyone? No problems? It seems to be working fine. coming through perfetly clear and 16-bit Fantastic! What to name your rival? Oh, so many possibilities. and only seven letters to do it in Let's see, who do I hate? and, if the name is too long, do you have a demeaning nickname Fair enough. True, and cutting his name short probably WOULD annoy him more Oh, immensely. The hardest part of this game is apparently thinking of names. I'm having fun so far! it's almost like it didn't stand a chance against a rodent that literally stores lightning in itself Your rat is displeased. Look at that face! We'll get along perfectly! Alright, here are the rules of the game. First pokemon encountered in any given area is the one we catch, fainting means death, and we get one Mulligan on Lambo because he's my special, darling little boy. Seems straight forward enough. Do you have to name all the monsters you catch? Every single one. So you get attached Absolutely. If we're not all crying before this project is at an end, I've failed as your master of ceremonies and you can point and laugh at me. I promise to point and laugh if you get all your monsters killed before reaching the next city. That's reasonable. Oh yes, back to the naming screen! Scrap. That was an accident. I thought you could only catch the first pidgey you encountered in this area? We're cheating a little because it's the first area. Tsk tsk. yeah, aren't we basically still in the forced tutorials bit? Game hasn't properly started yet Exactly. Hence The Rat With No Name, whom I'm sure we'll all grow to accept regardless. Unless it dies. then we'll accept it as The Rat That Lasted Less Than An Hour UI'm here! What did I miss? Hello! We watched a child drown in a mire, and now it is time for imaginary monster catching. Nuzlocke edition Ahhh I'm just seeing the rabbit loading screen If I'd known we were starting at the old time, I would have been here! Also, hang on while I reload Night human! Welcome! So, I hear the game music, but there's no video. Can anyone else see... anything? It is working for me. Same Gosh! This is exactly what I wanted to deal with. If I'd known we were starting at the old time, I would have been here! Also, hang on while I reload Night human! Welcome! So, I hear the game music, but there's no video. Can anyone else see... anything? It is working for me. Same Gosh! This is exactly what I wanted to deal with. Yeah, Rabbit's been... just stellar tonight Let me save and then try something. .............................. Son of a glitch. Well, that's why we save often. I'll try a different browser. I'd be lying if I said I din't fear for the Rat With No Name's Future. Eh. To be fair, you probably should. He's very delicate. He probably cries a lot. I think I need to reboot. brb Look at them clearing out those harmless, low level wild mice and rats. That's my team! Devastating the local ecosystem. The perfect hobby for ten year old children. pff, wait 'til we start catching the ones said to be responsible for the weather Assuming we get that far. I do not think the Rat is going to make it that far along. Don't you talk about my Rat that way. It's not his fault he's good at nothing. Time to move out of the baby field. And start playing with the rules properly? Yes nd I'm still not getting any video. Very odd... I'm using Rabbit Share. Does that make a difference? I don't know Hold on. Let me try rebooting it. After I name the new bird. If it's working for other people, then the problem is on my end yeah, best guess? Video drivers are acting up. wait! there it is! woo! Okay, so, Chrome works, Opera no longer does, I guess. So are we permanently back to starting at 6-6:30, or is this a one-time thing? A one time thing, at least until spring. I was feeling under the weather, so no newspark wrangling tonight." Ahhhh If I'd known I wouldn't have stayed late at work, and then run errands, and then gone out for takeout... Hmm, name suggestions for the bug? Or at the least, not those last two things "Twinkie" Ha. Now, who shall die Two mons enter, one mon leaves! And then you take the loser's money. ...it lets you JUMP OVER short hedges! well, yeah, I mean that's just general death match rules regarding money, right? So are they GIVING you the money or are you looting it from their dead/unconscious body? Mostly throwing it at you so you'll let them rush their monsters to medical aid Ah, so you're mugging them. Though, I guess they start out trying to mug YOU, so... You've killed their monsters. It is a bribe to avoid being slain as well. and this is a Nuzlocke, so they WILL kill you given half a chance It's a dangerous pokeworld out there I never knew bullying children could be so much fun! I find that statement highly suspect. Indeed, I am fairly certain you've enjoyed bullying children before this. Those were human children, they didn't count. These are Pokemon universe children. Very different. Aah, I see. *raises eyebrows* So... Pokemon universe children aren't human? .... According to the lore, they are also Pokemon. What, really? Ew. It is a strange universe That would explain why they all look the same, I guess. Or, uh... you know what I mean. The Nurse Joy lore is actually FASCINATINGLY weird Oh help me, that's adorable. I'd like to make it through the gym without casulties. *casualties It is going to be a challenge. Ooooo! A new one! Okay, rules be scrapped, I want her! We won't tell. In the name of gender diversity. Who needs rules, anyway? Besides, poison is pretty much the most fun type to play with Woohoo! Oh, it has horns? "Horny" No. "Spiky" Also vaguely inappropriate. Shoot, I was going for VERY inappropriate. Moonbeam. Very inappropriate would be something like Valveula'. Ooo, nice. I should have named my rival Valveula. You should have. You could do that next time. She's blue and thorny. I should have called her Arcee. /me hurriedly disguises a laugh as a cough A PURPLE one! Nice. In the interest of not cheating quite so much, I won't use him. I'll tuck him away and use him if worst comes to worst. Maybe the name should reflect that? Hmmmm. No room for "There's Been An Accident." exigency? "Whoopsie"? Ooh, I like that. 😃 Another! She's having none of it. If little Alpina/Arcee's going to survive the gym, she's got to learn to kill everything she loved. yeah, I've seen this first gym break the teeth of the unprepared LOTS of Nidorans all of a sudden Where were they when catching one wouldn't have been cheating? Hiding from you. And how did that work out for you, Nidorans? Have you caught all the pokemon you're allowed to before the gym? I have. There's mankey in the forest, but that's more cheating than I'm willing to do. Ahhhh. Well, would you look at that! Look at what? Little Twinkie's growing up. Oh! : ) Soon he'll be a full grown twink. Honestly, if I'd realized he was green and not yellow, I would have suggested, like... Bean It worked out this way. I guess it did! Maybe he's, like, an Easter twinkie That he is! My god https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/513t76TJEVL._SX355_.jpg https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/513t76TJEVL._SX355_.jpg images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com Oh, I thought it would actually show the image. Whoops Silly question, but does that... cost anything? To heal them up? not a cent Nice! Yeah! Take on Brock! Kick his ass! I'm at least going to get some experience off his little lackey trainers. Well now. That was too close a call for the Rat With No Name. You could just call him Boy. Time to face the first gym leader I just realized this is Zelda music Or nearly. Time to die. Rock hard defense. Pfffhehehehe Nice. *cheering* The cheating to get her was not in vain. See, children? Cheaters always prosper. We'll go to the moon cave, then pack up for the night. Nice. Oh no! You let that monster die. RIP Lambo. Ah, ah, remember! Lambo gets one mulligan! I remember. Just as he shall remember this death. Oh, well, that's alright then. He's seen what's beyond. He'll never be the same. You monster. On the plus side, the upcoming Gym has plenty of targets for his traumatized wrath That should stop him from murdering us all in our beds. Yes, that's right; have him murder other pokechilds instead. There's nothing behind those little eyes of his. Now that's not true. His death has placed the void of oblivion within his gaze When you gaze into the void, Lambo gazes back. He knows there's nothing watching out for us. Hmm. What to name the pig monkey? Witwicky. Ha. That's mean. I like it. I've been told I'm a mean individual. Probably by jealous people. Anakin. It's small and fat and full of life, like Lambo was until about 15 minutes ago. I love it. Performance Testing for E-Commerce Applications
Every day, a new eCommerce startup pops up selling something unique, and we all have many shopping apps on our phones. As a result of the increased competition, performance testing of e-commerce applications has become a critical stage for all eCommerce businesses to produce the best form possible for their target customers.
Tumblr media
In this blog, we’ll figure out what it’s all about and the strategies to do it right.
1. What is the purpose of performance testing
Time is money, and the same appears to be true for e-commerce applications. According to statistics, 40% of people will abandon a website if it takes more than three seconds to load. If it takes longer than three seconds for a mobile app to load, 53% of consumers will abandon it. Speed and load are two significant aspects of the success of the e-commerce realm, whether it’s a web page or a mobile application.
Performance testing, on the other hand, is a means to see if an application operates at its best when there is a lot of traffic. This type of testing is done to see how the site will perform under different loads and to find all of the product’s flaws. Apart from that, it is necessary to monitor the speed of data processing and transmission, as well as to detect modifications once they have been added.
2. Why Is It Necessary To Test An E-Commerce App
What successfully captures our interest is apps that run smoothly without producing any issues and display visuals and content in a short amount of time. We become addicted to only those products or applications that work properly. So, in order to reach that accuracy in terms of functionality and technical performance, e-commerce application performance testing is absolutely essential. It facilitates the detection of bugs and other defects in the system in order to achieve maximum perfection.
Ecommerce testing helps reduce the risk of software by significantly lowering the risk factor. Consumers’ biggest concerns when utilizing an eCommerce site are security and privacy. People exchange personal payment information, bank account, credit, and debit card details, and if security is inadequate, all of this information may be compromised. As a result, trust difficulties between the company and its target clients may arise. Testing is critical for any eCommerce application out there to eliminate these difficulties. E-commerce application performance testing is crucial in terms of enhancing the security system to a large extent.
3. Why Performance Testing for an E-Commerce App or Site is Important?
E-commerce application performance testing is done to ensure that the complete system of the application is excellent. However, there are a number of important factors that necessitate extremely precise testing procedures in order to identify the impact of issues. Let’s look at why e-commerce application performance testing is so crucial, and how it affects the application’s quality.
3.1. Evaluation of all the Software Objectives
E-commerce application performance testing involves evaluating the program as a whole to see if it is working properly and if the page loading times are optimal. Aside from that, it examines the payment and shopping guide sections. If the application includes a blog, it will also go through that section. It checks for bugs and makes plans to fix them in order to create a faultless application.
3.2. Page Loading
The loading of websites is frequently slowed due to excessive traffic. This has an indirect or direct impact on the user experience. Nobody wants to waste a lot of their personal time waiting for something to happen. E-commerce application performance testing is vital because it generates scenarios in which several individuals are utilizing the program at the same time. It also examines the load factors of the pages and, if necessary, makes adjustments to ensure that the software runs smoothly.
3.3. The App’s Flexibility on Various Devices
When testing eCommerce applications, this is one of the things that the majority of QA testers overlook. It’s not uncommon for an app to work perfectly on one device but not on another. When we try to open an app that is working fine on our phones on our desktops, it frequently becomes chaotic. This is related to optimization issues, for which performance testing of e-commerce applications was a large part of the solution. When conducting performance testing, the QA testers will look at the software’s navigability as well as the loading time.
They’ll also look at factors like a page’s interactivity and fonts, among other things.
3.4. Cloud-Based Testing
This is an important aspect of testing that must be completed in order to improve the software’s flexibility in terms of operation. If a customer continues to add things to their account on their mobile but buys the product after opening the app on their PC or laptop, the software must also function properly. Because this activity is entirely impacted by cloud computing, cloud-based testing is essential to enable the program to perform in such a dynamic way. This is a delicate region that necessitates a greater level of precision while constructing the exams; as a result, uttermost efficiency and concentration are required.
4. Methods and Strategies for Performance Testing
4.1. Check the Functionality
A user interface UI is the first thing that users will encounter. It typically includes graphical components and buttons that execute important app operations such as search, add to cart, and payment gateways, among others. This is where performance testing should begin. Rapid accessibility and the ability to refer back to the sale page fast again are the most important criterion.
4.2. Perform Load Testing
The next stage is to examine an app’s behavior under various operating conditions. Varied types of traffic generate different responses, and network or server speed has none of that. It is vital to replicate situations with thousands of simultaneous users in order to find such vulnerabilities in a timely manner. Application peak time, response time, and traffic pattern are all things to keep an eye on at this point.
4.3. Analyze Performance on a Variety of Devices.
There could be a lot of devices, and their configurations could be much more. In order to create a successful shopping experience, it must be possible to do it in a variety of settings. As a result, it’s critical to execute performance tests on various devices to determine why and when runtime error messages appear, whether pages display clearly, and so on.
4.4. Testing in Cloud-based Application
Last but not least, determine whether your e-commerce applications will work properly in the cloud. A user can, for example, make purchases on a mobile device, put orders on the desktop version, and do everything in the cloud. QA teams undertake cloud testing to guarantee that nothing goes missing and that the program is fast and dependable.
5. Conclusion
Performance testing of e-commerce software is becoming increasingly critical in light of today’s demand for perfection in the eCommerce industry. To succeed in the business, every organization must develop software that is free of complexities and defects, as well as provide 100% client pleasure. To ensure that e-commerce applications operate without delay or difficulty, ensure that your app has passed all of the above criteria. Contact TestDel if you need help with e-commerce app performance testing. Our services are completely transparent, and we provide excellent service.

Wii Usb Loader Gx Vidtv Patch
Tumblr media
If you need help for anything regarding this tutorial, please join the RiiConnect24 Discord server (recommended) or e-mail us at (email protected).
Wiimmfi is a replacement service for the now-defunct Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. It has been developed by Wiimm and Leseratte.
My Wii is softmodded already. Homebrew channel working perfectly and Priiloader is installed with the region hacks set in place. When I try loading up a NTSC game in USB Loader GX, the screen either goes black or returns to the Wii menu. My other PAL games work fine, but its just the NTSC ones that are giving me problems.
Different patchers
Tumblr media
There are lots of different methods to connect to Wiimmfi.Choose the one that fits your needs best.
Automatic patching using a USB Loader. If you are already using USB Loader GX, try updating it to the most recent version. Then, there should be a “private server” setting (both in the global loader options and in the game options) which you can set to “Wiimmfi” to make the USB Loader automatically patch every game you start to work. When playing with a modchip or via usb, the game needs to be patched. The patching can be skipped by using an updated loader. NeoGamma R8beta12+ works for it, latest usb loader gx, most likely latest Configurable usb loader too and some others. When playing via softmod from a disc, cIOSrev15 has to be used, and the game has to be patched too. This is just a short video showing you how to download the game covers and the disc arts for your games in USB Loader GX. See full list on sourceforge.net.
Automatic patching from the Disc Channel using Priiloader
What you need
A Wii with Priiloader 0.9 or later installed
If you have an older version of Priiloader, follow this guide to update.
Instructions
Hold reset while powering on your Wii (if using a Wii mini, plug in a USB keyboard and press escape).
Go to System Menu Hacks.
Make sure the Wiimmfi patch v2 hack is enabled.
Save settings and exit.
Homebrew (Disc) Application
MrBean35000vr (creator of CTGP-R, a Mario Kart Wii content pack) created a Wiimmfi Disc Patcher that allows you to insert a disc and patch the game on-the-fly for Wiimmfi use, though this must be run every time you start the disc.
What you need
An SD card or USB drive
No-Homebrew (Disc)
Thanks to Fullmetal5’s str2hax exploit, which Leseratte was able to adapt for the Wiimmfi patcher, you can run the Wiimmfi patch without having any homebrew on your Wii.
What you need
A Wii with an Internet connection
Instructions
Insert your game disc.
Go into your internet connection settings and set the DNS server of your console to 95.217.77.151.
Go to the WC24 contract information (third button after clicking on “Internet” in the settings).
Confirm that you do want to use WC24 and the shop channel
The Wiimmfi patcher page should show up. If it doesn’t, and you still see the default license agreement, your router might not be compatible with this method.
Wait for about 1 minute and 30 seconds for the patcher to load
The game should now start with the Wiimmfi patch included
Tumblr media
Automatic patching using a USB Loader
If you are already using USB Loader GX, try updating it to the most recent version. Then, there should be a “private server” setting (both in the global loader options and in the game options) which you can set to “Wiimmfi” to make the USB Loader automatically patch every game you start to work with Wiimmfi.
ISO Patching
Tumblr media
You may not want to run a patcher each time you want to play on Wiimmfi, and maybe you already use a USB Loader. As such, ISO Patchers were created, some for specific games.
What you need
Your copy of your game (WBFS, ISO, cISO, and other forms that a Wii can use are supported).
RiiConnect24 Patcher (Windows only) or
Wiimm’s ISO Patcher (cross platform)
A USB Loader, cIOS, and a USB to store the game on (you should already have these if you’re using a USB Loader)
Instructions
Extract the patcher of your choice to a folder, and place your copy of the game in it.
Run the patch script for your OS: usually it will end in .bat for Windows and .sh for Mac/Linux. If you’re using the RiiConnect24 Patcher, select your device (Wii, vWii, or Dolphin) and choose the patcher for your game.
Once it’s finished, get the version out of the wiimmfi-images folder (it may be in the folder outside of the patcher - ./wiimmfi-images) and copy it back to your USB.
Instructions
Extract Auto Wiimmfi Patcher and put it in the apps folder on your SD card or USB drive.
Insert your SD Card into your Wii, and launch Auto Wiimmfi Patcher from the Homebrew Channel.
Insert your game disc (you can insert it before or after launch, it doesn’t matter).
Wait for patch to complete, and it’ll begin!
WiiWare Patching
You can patch WiiWare games in order to play them on Wiimmfi.
What you need
An SD card
Your copy of your game (in WAD format)
RiiConnect24 Patcher (Windows only) or
Auto WiiWare Patcher (cross platform)
Steps:
Extract the .zip of the latest version of Auto WiiWare Patcher, and put your WAD in it.
Run the patch script for your OS: usually it will end in .bat for Windows and .sh for Mac/Linux. If you’re using the RiiConnect24 Patcher, select your device (Wii, vWii, or Dolphin) and choose the WiiWare patcher.
If it completed successfully, install the WAD that was made in wiiware-wads with Wii Mod Lite.
Other stuff
Mario Kart Wii Competitions
Wiimmfi allows you to participate in Mario Kart Wii competitions again.
What you need
An SD card or USB drive
Mario Kart Wii Competition Patcher
Instructions (for Wii)
Extract Mario Kart Wii Competition Patcher and put it in the apps folder on your SD Card.
Insert your SD card or USB drive into the Wii.
Launch the original Mario Kart Wii game (not Wiimmfi patched).
Navigate to Settings -> Network Settings (or Nintendo WFC Connection) -> Message Service. If you turned the message service feature on, turn it off and turn it on again.
Launch Mario Kart Wii Competition Patcher.
The patcher will look for save files for Mario Kart Wii on your storage device in various places, and upload them. This is done in case a missing competition is found in your save file. It will also, of course, patch your Wii for competitions.
If you’re using the Wii U, you will have to run the competitions patcher whenever you want to check for a competition, because WiiConnect24 is not enabled on the Wii U.
DS Games
Wii Usb Loader Gx Tv Patch Pc
Wiimmfi doesn’t only support Wii games, it supports lots of DS games too. Thanks to an exploit called nds-constraint, you can play DS games without patching your games.
What you need
Wii Usb Loader Gx
A Wi-Fi network with WEP or no security
Getting a Wi-Fi network with WEP or no security is the hardest part, because DS games don’t support newer Wi-Fi security types (unless it’s one of the few games that are “DSi Enhanced” and can use your Wi-Fi configuration on your DSi or 3DS, like Pokémon Black/White). However, many routers support creating a guest Wi-Fi connection, or you can make a hotspot on your phone or your computer. There are plenty of resources on the Internet that have information on this, so use your favorite search engine to find them.
Instructions
Tumblr media
Go in the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi settings. This can be accessed inside the game you want to play online with.
Set up a connection.
Type in 164.132.44.106 as the primary DNS.
Type in 1.1.1.1 as the secondary DNS (if it gives you problems, try 8.8.8.8).
Save your connection settings and perform a connection test. If it’s successful, then you’re ready to play.
Download Wii Usb Loader Gx
CTGP-R (Mario Kart Wii)
MrBean35000vr and Chadderz have an amazing CTGP-R distribution, the application that allows you to use a set of custom tracks, has automatic Wiimmfi patching. Go to the ChadSoft Website for the download and instructions.
MKW Hack Pack (Mario Kart Wii)
Wii Usb Loader Gx Install
Huili has put together a really good collection of custom tracks and hacks called MKW Hack Pack, and allows connections to Wiimmfi. To learn how to set it up, go to the wiki page.
Wiimms MKW Fun (Mario Kart Wii)
Wiimm and Leseratte created a custom track distribution called “Wiimms MKW Fun”, which gets updated about three times a year. It is based on the LE-CODE framework by Leseratte and contains a Wiimmfi patch and lots of other features. You can find out more about it on its wiki page.

this love was damned from the start ( part 2 )
Summary: Dazai’s staring at her, at this pale girl and her heart shaped face. The wide-spaced green eyes, and the sheer determination that slivers them, as though she can physically force the world to succumb to her whims. The same translucent skin and pale lips. The weight and intensity of her gaze, as if he’s a puzzle, an enigma that she’s trying to figure him out. He’s never really realized it, but his daughter looks like Chuuya. It makes Dazai sad for a moment. He wishes that there’s more of him in Aya’s face.
Pairing: Dazai Osamu x Chuuya Nakahara ( Bungou Stray Dogs )
Author’s Notes: YOOOO IT'S ME AGAIN!! THIS IS THE SECOND LAST CHAPTER OF THIS STORY, AND IN THIS CHAPTER, I'M TRYING OUT A NEW STYLE OF WRITING!! PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW IF YOU LIKED THIS STORY - ALL YOUR REVIEWS MAKE ME INCREDIBLY HAPPY AND THEY REALLY ENCOURAGE ME TO WRITE MORE SOUKOKU STORIES ( WITH AYA AS THEIR LOVECHILD )!!
Read on AO3! Part 1 here!
Aya’s not supposed to be out this late.
Maman would kill her if he knows that she’s snuck out to see a movie with her friends behind his back.
He’s always been protective of her, his only daughter. Aya privately thinks that this might have something to do with the absence of her father – she’s bugged Maman over and over again for details about the elusive man more than once, but he flatly refuses to talk about Aya’s father.
( Maman’s eyes always go soft and sad whenever Aya asks, and she hates being the reason for his smile fading away, so she doesn’t do it anymore, even though she’s full to bursting with the questions that bubble at the tip of her tongue. )
Because she’s in a hurry to get home before Maman notices her absence, Aya takes a short cut back, cutting through a side road so tiny it’s barely an alley. Her patent leather Mary Janes click against the cobblestones. A loud stereo sings out in the night, car tires squeal, but other than that the street is empty.
She’s not scared of anything. She’s small and brave and fearless. She’s Chuuya Nakahara’s daughter, and he’s taught her well.
So when she hears the footsteps behind her, Aya’s ready.
He isn’t expecting any resistance. Aya throws all her weight into a punch aimed at his face; her fist connects with his nose, and a fine spray of blood mists the air with a very satisfying crunch. She hooks a foot behind his, and pulls his heel from under him, the same tactic that Maman loves to use on her whenever they spar. The man’s unconscious when he hits the ground, and Aya admires her handiwork, grimly thinking how lucky it is that Maman isn’t here – she knows without a sliver of doubt that he would have killed her would-be assailant, possibly with his bare hands.
At a certain point, Aya becomes aware that there’s someone else in the alley.
She gets very still. Parts of the road are lost in shadow, but Aya can sense something moving at its periphery. The sleeve of a black jacket flutters in and out of view, a bird’s wing.
Aya retracts her guilty hands, the blood rushing into her cheeks. “Um.”
“It’s okay.” Aya’s rewarded with a light laugh, soft and somehow tinged with melancholy. It’s a man, Aya thinks. He takes a few steps nearer to her so the moonlight hits him and turns him silver. The sight of him robs all the breath from Aya’s lungs and stops up her throat – there’s that uncanny similarity between her own delicate features and his, the vague familiarity that makes Aya think that they’ve met before, though she can’t quite remember where. “I won’t tell Chuuya.”
( Dazai’s staring at her, at this pale girl and her heart shaped face. He wishes that there’s more of him in Aya’s face. )
Her mother’s name draws her up short. Aya’s face brightens as though this man has just said a magic word. “You know Maman?”
“I do.”
“How?”
“We work together.” And that’s all he’ll say on the subject, even when Aya pouts and wheedles and begs.
“You’re on your way home, right, Aya?” He says, and his voice is as soft as his laugh. “Let’s go.”
( Aya is a good name for her: a pure name, somehow. Chuuya probably chose it after giving birth, lying exhausted on a hospital bed with Aya resting on his chest, squirming and waving her tiny fists, her mouth open wide in a scream. Or had he thought about it beforehand, going through websites on his laptop, alone in the dark? )
He reaches out his hand, and without thinking, Aya takes it. It’s warm and dry, and as he leads her deeper into the alley, away from the street and into the shadows, Aya closes her eyes, imagines that this is how it’s like with a father around. It doesn’t feel crazy that she’s holding hands with a complete stranger and she’s letting him lead her back to her house – it feels normal.
The noises from the street outside fade away altogether. Everything is so quiet. It’s almost completely dark. Aya can barely make out the outline of his tall and lanky frame.
“Your father isn’t around much, is he?” The man asks, quietly, but with a hint of something that Aya can’t quite identify.
Her smile dims. Aya looks down and away, at her feet. “No. It’s just me and Maman. I don’t have a Papa.”
The silence stretches on. It seems to take a long time for the man to reply. “Do you hate your father, Aya?”
“No.” Aya shakes her head, and her smile is like the beam of a flashlight. “But I do wanna meet him, and thank him.”
( A feeling of vertigo overwhelms Dazai when he looks at her, a nauseous feeling lashing in his stomach, but he takes a deep breath and thinks of Odasaku, too good for this wretched mess of a world, how the entire world had been made brighter, sweeter, better by him being alive. Dazai thinks of counting steps, of running leaps, and the sensation of falling. )
“Thank him?”
“For helping to make me!” Aya says, so matter-of-factly, it’s almost as if she’s talking about the weather, not a father who’s been absent for as long as she can remember. “I’ve got Maman, and I’ve got all my friends at school, and I’m really happy, and it’s all ‘cause he helped to make me!”
( Two conflicting desires go through Dazai at the same time, each as sharp as a razorblade: I want to see you grow up and Don’t ever change. )
“. . . I see.”
It’s difficult to see his expression in the dark, and it might be a figment of Aya’s imagination, but she thinks she sees the man’s mouth turn up slightly at the corners, a pale, fleeting smile that totally transforms his face from carved marble to something infinitely softer and warmer that takes Aya’s breath away once again.
They’ve reached the apartment now, and the relative quiet of the familiar tree-lined street. If not for Maman living with her, she would’ve been miserably lonely in the sprawling apartment that costs more per month than most people make in a year.
“Can you do me a favour, Aya?” The man crouches down, so that they’re at eye level, and up close, Aya can see that his face is wreathed in delicate gossamer bandages, and his eyes are so kind and so sad.
“What is it?” Aya tilts up her chin and stares at him, straight in the eye, wild and determined and fierce.
( It reminds Dazai of something that Chuuya would do. You might be an asshole, but you’re still my boss. Like hell you’re going there alone. We’re going together. )
“I want you to be a good girl.” Smiling, something softening in his eyes, a cloud of mahogany curls. “And I want you to look after your Mother. Can you do that for me?”
( He can see their whole life together: her tiny infant toes and scalp that smelled like baby powder; the first time she gurgled out dada; watching her chest rise and fall with every breath, smoothing the crumpled mess of blankets around her small body. He sees beyond it, tantalizing glimpses of Aya’s future: Aya, small and petite, dancing her way down the street with Odasaku trailing after her; Aya in her school uniform, clutching at a red-ribboned certificate; Aya loaded down with books as the snow swirls around her, ducking into a dorm, her hair bronzed against the white. )
“Okay!” Aya nods her head like he’s given her a monumental, impossibly important task. “I promise!”
“That’s good.” The man reaches back, and unwinds the red scarf from around his neck. Aya’s eyes go huge and round.
For once, Aya’s totally quiet, nothing but quick breaths escaping her parted lips in a ghostly white cloud, standing perfectly still while the man lifts her hair and arranges the scarf around her neck. She adores the feel of silk on her bare skin. It flutters as she moves and grows warm, as if she’s carrying a living creature around her neck. Aya turns back to him, her face very serious, waiting for his opinion.
The man winds the scarf around her neck for the final time. “It looks good on you, Aya.”
“Are you giving it to me – for real real? Or just for today?” Aya’s voice is a hush, like they’re discussing state secrets. “Do I have to give it back?”
“No. It’s yours.” The man taps her nose lightly with his index finger, and Aya’s beaming again, her hair a crimson halo framing her face. “You look much better in it than I do.”
( He holds onto this one thing – the only thing that he has of his daughter. The brightness of her smile, how small and soft and fragile her hands are, how she’s so easy to love, and how she’ll grow up being loved. )
“Goodbye, Aya.”
( He can’t see very much now, just the pink of the cherry blossoms that flood her cheeks and the red ring of her curls. )
Aya turns.
Starts crunching her way up the gravel steps.
Stops.
There’s something very final about this goodbye. A bad feeling hovers over her gut, icy fingers of dread tightening her bowels.
But when Aya looks back, he’s gone.

Peloton news – Old dog – new tricks
I don’t believe in God and I don’t believe in gravel bikes.
Oddly enough though, I got talked in to doing an 88-mile gravel bike ride by Macca and Drip…. Good Lord.
As I don’t believe in gravel bikes, I don’t own one. This particular sportive had an answer though. Rent one.
I don’t normally believe in renting either. Good job. They’d run out of rental gravel bikes.
So far, this ride was a screaming success.
‘Why don’t you borrow my hardtail?’ suggested the every-helpful McEvoy.
Good idea.
One problem. Drip has had custody of Macca’s ex whip for a while now, so the thing is likely to be un-washed, un-oiled and in need of some recommissioning.
Not so good an idea.
‘Ask RTA if you can borrow his. He’s not doing this ride so you should be fine’.
Thanks Macca.
I left it late. Very late. I’d not done any riding recently and felt distinctly out of condition.
I thought to myself ‘if I can do 30 miles, then I’ll be able to extend that to 40. And if I can do 40 miles, 50 should be easy enough’.
I carried on this line of logic till I reached 88 miles. ‘fuck it, I’ll send RTA a text. Hopefully he’ll tell me to do one’.
He didn’t.
God (in whom I believe-eth not) must have been smiling on me.
Now, Macca likes his gravel bike. In fact, I think the feelings may run deeper. A lot deeper.
At times in recent months, I had wondered if there was some sort of commission angle I’d missed here. I checked the website for the ‘UK gravel bike appreciation society’. Couldn’t see his name as a patron or sponsor.
I checked the ‘North American brotherhood of gravelers’. Same thing. No trace of our pilot.
Finally, I googled all new religions registered in the last 12 months to see if there had been a reverend McGraveloy positioning his ‘new order of the Gravelatti’. Nout.
I did wonder if it was just me. I did wonder if post ride, I would see the religious light and (tail between legs) go off to C&N to place an order. Afterall, James had done so on the mere whiff of new toys in the Peloton. Perhaps I was just being an old stick in the mud and not moving with the times.
‘It’s like when you were a kid…riding around all over the place just for the pleasure of it. No GPS..no heart rate monitor..it’s a breath of fresh air’ sayeth the Reverend many a time over the previous months.
Un-prompted, Drip asked Macca ‘If you had a fire, which bike would you rescue?’.
This is likely the best question Drip has ever asked. Perfectly judged and a response which would be very revealing indeed. This is in contrast to the worst question Dripping has ever asked which was ‘does anyone have any Tramadol’ just before he took a load of drugs and tried to ride in his near catatonic post-crash injured state.
Anyway…. Answer the question Mark…..
‘It would be the gravel’ said Monsignor McEgravel.
Wow.
Bold statement.
So off we set.
RTA’s bike was a perfect fit. And beautiful too. The ride off grass and onto the first bit of gravel (10 yards of carpark prior to the road) was nothing short of…well… nothing short of riding a road bike on a football pitch. It worked. I immediately and whole heartedly declared gravel bikes the future of cycling, computing, politics and life in general.
That statement lasted for about 15 minutes, at which time stamp we found ourselves on a muddy track which was completely and utterly impassable using this sort of bicycle.
Dripping and I dismounted (involuntarily) and trudged after Macca who was stubbornly trying to stay upright.
This was admittedly a low point and things perked up not long after. Much of the route was beautiful. From the North to the South downs and off toward the coast we went.
Drip had prepared well and had his road cleats fitted. The sort of fuck up most of you normally associate with me. It was pleasing to a) stop fairly often (see ‘lack of fitness’ comments earlier) and b) watch Dripping pay for his mistake by extracting mud using nothing more than sharp stones scraped across the bottom of soft cleats, an activity which is akin to Nelly’s ‘removal-of-pedals-with-a-boat-shoe’ trick. Macca took many photos of this. When confronted by the sight of Nelly with his shoe in a death grip he took none and was not making that mistake ever again.
The absolute highlight of the trip was the road support we received from both Bex and Dawn. Bex arrived at strategic points armed with cake, popcorn, energy stuff and a big smile. Fucking ace. Sweets and a sit down. Exactly what I was hoping for. I ate much of what I saw before me.
Low-lights were however many in number.
Dripping being a lot fitter than me was one. If there’s one thing that I don’t like, it’s being a) overtaken by Dripping, b) being overtaken by Dripping and then Dripping and Macca buggering off up a hill and to cap it all c) waiting for me at the top of the hill chatting. Each time I tried to arrive composed with an air of ‘I don’t give a fuckery’ about me.
That didn’t work.
Dripping was very nice about it all… which meant that inside he was doing fucking cartwheels.
I had a quiet word with the God I don’t believe in and enquired about the possibility of delivering some pestilence or maybe locusts onto Dripping, his bicycle and his new found legs. ‘Bit old Skool don’t you think?’ Said the non-existent almighty. ‘maybe’ I muttered. ‘maybe’.
I had much time to think on this ride. It’s lonely being a shit cyclist, but I could at least analyse the pickle I’d agreed to find myself in.
Throughout the course of the day, I think I’ve puzzled it out. I think I have the answer to the question. The big question. Not the meaning of life, the meaning of gravel bike.
Macca was right. If you can have only one bike, then it makes sense.
If you can have only 2 bikes. It doesn’t. I’d always take a road bike, because they are perfect for the road and a gravel is a slight compromise. If I wanted off-road I’d always take a mountain bike, because a gravel is an even bigger compromise.
If I could have 3 bikes, this is where it makes sense…. And then I’d definitely have a gravel because it would be perfect as a winter/commuter bike and if I ever wanted to do a route with a ‘downs link’ type element, then that’s its habitat.
This 88-mile ride wasn’t perfect for the gravel. But it was probably just about the best compromise out of gravel/road/mountain.
But my rides tend to be on or off road. So if off-road, an mtb is just so much more comfortable, capable and suited to the hills.
And for big road rides, particularly our tour trips with big down hills, then I’d always favour the purity of a road weapon.
I’ll leave with this thought though. Both Macca and RTA’s bikes are lovely. Really nice examples. Expensive, tight, slick. Lovely to ride. And they are growing in popularity judging by the crowd who rocked up for the run to the coast. James has got one too, so when the German lands back he’ll be all over it and Strava will be awash with JT/RTA/Macca gravel rides where there will be much declaring of ‘It’s like when you were a kid…riding around all over the place just for the pleasure of it. No GPS..no heart rate monitor..it’s a breath of fresh air’ and other such snake-oilery.
Ultimately though it’s a bike, it’s outdoors, it’s with your mates.
Really, that’s all that matters. The bikes have always been secondary to that and always will.
Gravel onward my friends, gravel onward.
Hoppo
Ps Damo… just price one up for me…just out of curiosity you understand, yeah?

11 Common e-Commerce Marketing Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)
Tumblr media
Running an e-commerce site is not as easy as it looks. If you want to hit your business goals, then you will need the right marketing strategy. There are plenty of common e-commerce marketing mistakes that new businesses often fall victim to. It’s important to understand these issues early on so that you can boost growth and sales without restrictions.
With e-commerce becoming the new norm in shopping, competition between sites has become really tough. Common marketing mistakes will make a huge impact on your website - holding back your customer base and revenue from really taking off.
Follow our guide below on some of the main marketing mistakes to avoid to make sure that your business really booms.
Tumblr media
e-Commerce Marketing Mistakes to Avoid
If you make certain marketing mistakes when promoting your online store, there’s a good chance you will end up repeating these mistakes over and over. An important part of building an effective digital marketing game plan is knowing what not to do and what common mistakes you need to remove. We have outlined some of the most critical e-commerce marketing mistakes below to help get your business on the right path to success.
1. Not Knowing Your Target Audience
Any good online marketing strategy starts by knowing who your potential customers are. The online space allows brands to open up their offering worldwide. Everyone is online, and your website could target all kinds of customers. Digital marketing relies on knowing exactly who you are trying to target, and using all of your tools available to get these very specific customers to your store.
To drive as much traffic as possible to your website, your marketing efforts will need to be specific about who your customers are. Having a clear buyer persona is essential for your content marketing efforts. Know who your customers are, what they are looking for, and you will be able to target them more directly.
One of the most common e-commerce marketing mistakes is when businesses try to attract too wide an audience. This ends up with very few people actually being interested in their product, resulting in unsuccessful e-commerce sales. Know what your customers want and be specific.
2. Not focusing on Average Order Value
A common setback for e-commerce businesses is when they put all of their focus on increasing their sales funnel, but they don’t focus on getting customers to increase their purchases. This marketing mistake comes down to not focusing on building trust with site visitors, and not enticing them to add on to their order.
To understand the value of this, you need to look at the cost of your marketing efforts for each new customer. For example, say your site attracts three customers that each spends $20. This will cost your business more than having one customer spending $60. Increasing the average order value will make a major difference to the overall profitability of your company.
There are a few strategies that can enhance your order value. You could offer product recommendations, use product bundling strategies, set an order minimum, and focus on upselling on your online shop.
Marketing towards people who are already spending money on your site is much easier than marketing to a cold audience. You’ve got existing customers that have already decided to support you. Make sure that when they checkout, you have been able to gain the maximum amount of value from them.
Tumblr media
3. Lacking social proof
Social proof is one of the most important factors for getting potential customers to make a purchase. This includes things like reviews, referrals, or product testimonials. A customer always wants to know what another customer had to say about a product. This helps to build trust and increase conversion rates.
One of the top e-commerce marketing mistakes is leaving elements of social proof out of your online store and strategy. With e-commerce, people can’t go into the brick-and-mortar store to feel the quality of an item, try something on, or see how it would work. Because of this, social proof can help a customer to make up their mind on a product.
With online shopping, social proof offers transparency. Customers can openly rate and review products. New customers will be able to get a more honest and informed idea of the business.
This doesn’t just have to be on the store page in the form of product reviews. It can be included in social media and content marketing efforts. You can show real people actually using your product, and offer what they have to say about it. Influencers and user-generated content can add loads of value here.
Tumblr media
4. Using the wrong CMS
The CMS your online store uses could make or break your business. Many new businesses will go for the cheapest content management system, thinking that it will really just do the same thing as any other option. This is one of the most common e-commerce marketing mistakes to make.
If you want to offer the highest quality experience from your e-commerce business, then cutting costs on your CMS is a bad idea. You want to choose a platform that is easy to manage and can scale with your growth. Your CMS should be able to integrate with all of your backend software. It should also be a suitable fit for any marketing automation strategies.
Quite simply, the wrong CMS for your e-commerce site can really affect the user experience, as well as the way you operate. Any website relies on its CMS to provide a high-quality shopping service.
5. Bad product descriptions
The product description needs to draw your customers in, making sure they end up with a full basket on your checkout page. Your product description should explain to the audience why they need the product, not just content on what the product is about. The options should help customers to view the product as an asset, with clear instructions on how it can improve their lives.
Poor product descriptions simply list features of the product, without highlighting its benefits. These are often copied over from the manufacturer. Some e-commerce sites don’t even include a description at all. Letting your target audience know that the product will add value to their lives is essential for increasing your sales.
A poor product description will also affect your SEO efforts. Descriptions that are properly optimized are more likely to rank on a search engine. You also need to make sure that your description content and headings are unique so that they stand out to a customer on a search engine. Being able to tailor your description to your specific customer base will create greater appeal which will increase conversions.
Tumblr media
6. Forgetting About the User Experience
E-commerce is rapidly growing, with new online shops popping up every day. Customers have a huge variety of options, so naturally, they will choose a platform that offers them the best experience. If your site doesn’t look good, feel good, or work well, then your customers will soon find somewhere else to shop. E-commerce marketing needs to take user experience seriously.
Your web page should be clear, attractive, and easy to navigate. The copy should perfectly fit your brand, and any other content needs to be optimized. This includes things like product descriptions and thoughtful categories. You also need a smooth checkout process.
When looking at this experience, business owners should not forget about mobile devices. More people are using mobile devices for online shopping, and sites need to provide the best possible experience for this.
A good experience doesn’t end with content and the shopping platform. A company needs to offer a high level of customer service, while customers are on your pages and after they make a purchase. Good service can include following up on the customer post-purchase, asking for feedback, and building a relationship.
Online marketing relies heavily on the user experience. A positive experience for visitors will also help your store to rank better on Google and other search engines.
Tumblr media
7. Poor Social Media Strategy
Social media connects the customer to the brand. Many e-commerce marketing errors are a result of poor social media management. If your business does not properly promote products or engage with customers through social media, then your e-commerce sales will suffer.
Social media is there to build up the presence of your business online. This is an essential part of any website marketing plan. Getting social media wrong can lead to a major marketing blunder. Something as simple as the right social media ads for e-commerce can make all the difference to your sales.
Make sure that your social media is professionally managed to avoid losses on your site.
8. Not Being Intentional About Marketing
Products don’t sell themselves. This may sound obvious, but a common marketing mistake is not having a clear strategy, to begin with. Developing a strong agenda is the only way to really see results. An effective strategy relies on email marketing, social media, SEO, retargeting, and useful content. This needs to be intentional and cohesive.
Poor marketing efforts won’t lead to results. Your website won’t get much traffic, or you might attract the wrong customers. While your brand may have various marketing efforts already in place, if they are not carefully planned, they will not help you achieve your business goals. A well-thought-out e-commerce marketing plan is also important for marketing automation and scaling your company.
9. Overthinking Things
Any online shop has many moving parts. A common mistake that any new company often makes is overthinking all of the small details. Yes, you will make mistakes. That’s just business. If you focus too much on these small issues, you will miss out on the huge opportunity that lies ahead.
Don’t get too caught up in the small details. Rather, focus on the bigger picture and work towards that goal. Start by taking big steps, and fine-tune them along the way. For example, if your email marketing content is not personalized the way you want it, you can always fine-tune it at a later stage. First, get visitors to your website, then you can start to think a bit more critically about your channels as you go. Overthinking every step will just slow you down in the long run.
Tumblr media
10. Not Analyzing Your Data
It doesn’t matter how much effort you put into your marketing channels if you aren’t able to properly analyze it. Any business that wants to really thrive needs to pay attention to its data to consistently optimize its marketing plan. A common mistake is to continue with marketing strategies that haven’t been properly analyzed.
If this is the case, how will you know if your content is working? How will you know if your email marketing is bringing results? How will you know what to change? The only way to really find your e-commerce issues is to analyze the data and optimize your service.
11. Poor Lead Capturing
Not everyone that visits your website will end up buying something. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t benefit from their visit. Every online store should offer some form of lead capturing to help you gather more potential leads.
This needs to be subtle enough not to distract customers, but clear enough to get their attention. Well-executed lead capturing will help you to benefit from the customer even if they don’t actually end up being a customer.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
It doesn’t matter how great your products are, without an effective e-commerce marketing strategy your business won’t be able to reach its sales goals. Poor marketing efforts and common issues will lead to your website being lost in the competition.
For any e-commerce business, regardless of size, avoiding these common marketing mistakes is essential. As soon as you realize that you might have made one of these issues, fix it and move on. You will soon see a boost in sales!
