Yoon Jeonghan had a habit. It wasn’t the worst of habits, but it was the kind that would clutter up your life. Often, you would wonder why he would do it, and why he hadn’t stopped: not even after you had mentioned it so many times.
It had started in high school. High school, that eternity away now. Luckily, your past was riddled with memories of him, and all of the little things that you had shared together; lunches, late nights studying, throwing littler paper wads at eachother from across the room. He would pull at the tie around your neck that was a part of the school uniform just to get a rise out of you. Jeonghan would nap during class, and you would be the one to wake him up with the flick of your finger. On cold walks to school, he would lend you his scarf, and on hot summer nights you’d stay out searching for snacks until sleep drew your eyes down, and he’d let you lean on him the whole walk home.
yjh was here
He wrote it on the first exam you had ever failed in your whole life.
Conversely, he had gotten nearly a perfect score. He was annoyingly good at everything he did. That, or he was just really good at cheating his way through things. When you thought about it, it was likely the latter that was more accurate.
At first you thought it was a joke. It was as if he was taunting you for failing miserably at mathematics II. You were never good at math anyway.
The second time he wrote it was when you had fallen asleep in class. It wasn’t a common occurrence. He’d call you a baby for being scared to fall asleep during class for fear of being startled awake by the teacher. However, this was the week that had been the longest for you: the week that everything fell apart.
Even into your mid twenties, your mother still would never tell you why your father had left that week and you never saw it fit to prod more.
He had written it on a scrap piece of paper after getting you a strawberry milk and leaving it for you on your desk.
yjh was here
Since then, he had taken the opportunity to write it everywhere he could manage. Suddenly his little scribbles filled up the margins of your notebooks; on post-it notes--he’d even etch it onto the skin on your arm in soft blue pen ink. Later, when the two of you had gone on to college, he would sneak into your dorm to write it everywhere he could find. No matter how many times you would erase it from your little whiteboard by your desk, he’d always manage to write it over, noticing immediately that it was gone.
Today, you had noticed that he had slipped it into your legal folder, among other more boring and business-y things and you had no idea how it had gotten there. It must have been sometime the day before, as he had written it on a napkin from the catering company.
yjh was here.
In all the many years that he had followed you from place to place, you must have amassed hundreds of his little notes. You kept the ones that he would give you at work tucked away in a desk, often forgetting that they were kept there until you would stumble upon them, tugging a little smile at your face. The rest of them you kept at home in a little box in your closet, even deeper away, never really knowing why. The act of simply having them was satisfaction enough, in fact, you never really minded a little clutter.
☆彡
With eyes drooping, you scratched away on your yellow note pad, writing a string of nonsense words that sounded important from the presentation. The red setting setting sun reminded you that it was your least favorite time of day: the time where the last work hour of the day would appear to stretch into twenty. Under the table your scratchy cotton work-pants felt even more scratchy than usual. Somewhere above you, the penetrating white fluorescents buzzed like flies.
With a little tap on your shoulder, Yoon Jeonghan was sitting next to you as he always was. Compared to him, you felt as if you looked like an utter mess. Just as he was annoyingly good at everything, there was never a day that he came into work looking less than perfection. Today it was a tweed two piece with a pressed shirt underneath as well as a navy tie adorning his beautifully slender neck. Around his face befell his deeply dark strands of hair which pricked the edges of his rounded wire glasses.
“This is so boring.” He had mouthed to you, adding a pout to the end of his sentence.
You formed the sound on your lips, “Shhhhh”
“I’m just saying!”
“Pay attention.”
You turned your head back to pretend to care about what your boss had to say. Every fifteen seconds or so you would nod your head to make it appear as if you were diffusing the information he was giving out.
Another tap on your shoulder and Jeonghan displayed his pen to you to draw your attention to the margin of your quarterly report print out.
you look really beautiful today, he had written
“Stop it!” You accidentally hissed, garnering the attention of your nosy and equally bored coworker sitting across from you.
This time you mouthed out the words, “No I don’t.”
“~yessss~” Jeonghan curled out his words with his tiny creeping smile
Your knee bumped into his under the ginormous desk.
“Pay attention, ‘Han.”
“Is there something you would like to add L/n?” Your supervisor’s voice cracked in the silence of the room.
“N-no sir.” your head bowed in repentance.
He elder man tsked in a little sound with his teeth. “I know that we’re getting to the end of the day folks, but let’s just get through this all so we can get home...”
Jeonghan’s tweed pants made a little screeching sound against the fabric of yours when you bumped him again under the guise of the desk.
“Screw you.”
Your friend met your remark with a wink, biting the cap of his pen while his eyes wandered down to show you another little message:
yjh was here
and I’m excited for tonight
☆彡
Wednesdays were customary somaek nights where each of you and your coworkers would gather in your cruelly tiny apartment with their own separate dishes for all to share and forget about the troubles of the midweek. As the year was winding down, it was these nights that would get you through the week. With the bodies of the five of you in your tiny living room cramped around your low-set table, you had almost forgotten that the heating in there barely worked.
With each of your coworkers entrance, they would bring in the smell of autumn with them, and the chill of the air outside. On each of their long coats, bits of leaves would cling to the edges of the fabric. Each Wednesday there would be a royal mess to clean up after, but it was Jeonghan who would often stay after to help you. The two of you would end up in your cruelly tiny kitchen, throwing soap bubbles at each other’s faces drunkenly with socks sliding all over the wooden floors. Jeonghan would write another note to stick on your refrigerator, then he would take you by the hands to twirl you around to some unbearably cheesy sounding OST.
Perhaps it was the way that your head would get fuzzy from the soju and beer, but you loved the way that he would twirl you; it was almost like a waking dream.
“Nobody worry! Nobody! Worry!” Soonyoung burst through your door, case of beer in hand. “I’m not late, I’m actually early! Don’t you know that it’s trendy to appear an hour into the party?” When Soonyoung spoke, he had a habit of speaking with his whole chest.
“Took you long enough,” Mingyu whined, popping in another strip of galbi.
“You don’t enjoy our presence, ‘Gyu?” Wonwoo’s mouth upturned into a teasing grin.
“N-no,” The biggest man babbled, “It’s just that...Wednesdays are somaek evenings.”
“--Then I am here to help you out my friend.” Soonyoung plopped himself right down on the floor with the poof of his blond hair popping from his beanie. “Ahhhh this all looks so delicious.”
“You better pay me back.” You griped while serving him a plate of the assortment.
“Have I ever mentioned how much I love you, Y/n?”
“Nearly every time I do something for you? You still owe me from the last time we went to karaoke.
“--And for covering for your ass last week...some hangover that was, huh?” Jeonghan scooched over his leftover rice to you.
Soonyoung scoffed while twirling his bottle of soju in the air, the admiring the little tornado swirling inside. “-Was worth it though. We always have fun don’t we?” In his affection, he threw his arms around you and Wonwoo beside him.
“-Food’s gonna get cold.” Wonwoo poked his finger in the general direction.
With his full glass raised in the air after a minute of preparation, Soonyoung lead you all in a toast, cheeks already rosy. The second that your glasses collided, liquid came downpouring to the table, but none of you seemed to mind. Before you could bring your drink to your lips, you caught yourself having a moments pause, watching all of your friends before you. If you could have, you wished you could fold up little moments like these as well to put in your drawer to see when you would feel down.
Jeonghan caught your wistful sigh, sending you a wink. In many ways, you knew he must have known your thoughts.
Under the table, his hand brushed up to your crossed knee, letting his hand linger. He let his hand rest there for a moment, as if he was soaking up your essence in the moment. He had never done it before, but his thumb gently rubbed at your knee, and it felt like a waking dream.
☆彡
The night had ticked on, and you and grown more tired than you had expected by pass of the clock hand. As the night would normally progress, drinks would be had, then each of you would take turns updating the others on what you had been doing or working on. All of you would gather advice or support if needed. There had even been times when you would even provide a shoulder for one to cry on, although that didn’t happen most times.
Others, like today, the five of you would simply sit and enjoy each other’s presence with the window slightly cracked open to let the autumnal air cool your burning bodies. Jokes would be cracked every once and a while until yawns would escape your mouths. By then, another joke would be made about how you were all getting to old to be staying up that late.
Jeonghan played with your hair as you had leaned into him, swirling your final glass of soju in your wrist. While you were hot yourself, the heat from his body was still calming, and the way that his chest would rise and fall was a bit like a lullaby.
“I’m falling asleep, we should head out,” Mingyu clapped Wonwoo by the back.
“Another one for the books.” Soonyoung sighed, then rose up with a stretch of his arms, wrinkling up his white button up and loose tie.
“Sweet dreams everyone.” You shift off of your best friend, shuddering a little at the lack of contact, to close the door after them.
“I’m looking forward to next Wednesday!” Soonyoung beams with a little salute, then bows before shuffling away.
“What time is it?” You yawn out the words, rubbing your eyes.
“Too late. We still need to go in tomorrow, remember?”
Dirty dishes clink in your hands as you bring them to your sink. “We really should start doing this on Fridays.”
“I don’t wanna start cleaning just yet, can we stay here for a while?” Jeonghan spreads his arms out, beckoning you to fall back into him. You laugh a little at the motion.
“Why so touchy? We haven’t done this in so many years...I can’t remember the last time...”
You oblige him, nuzzling right up to his chest once more. He smells a bit of the somaek, but mostly of his usual scent: that cheap cologne that you had bought him about a year ago. You had mostly gotten it as a gag gift, but he had worn it every day since.
“Must have been in high school.” His words are long and breathy.
“How come we stopped?”
Jeonghan takes a minute to answer you, and you wonder if he’s fallen asleep. Instead, he raises a hand to rub at your arm lightly, just as he had done with your knee.
“Dunno. We got older?”
“What does getting older have to do with it?”
You watch in the silence as his thumb continues to rub over the fabric of your long-sleeved button down.
“--Do you want to play a game?” Jeonghan says at last.
“A game? What do you mean?”
“For fun. I’m trying to find something to do so we don’t have to do the dishes.”
“Okay,” You perk up slightly, still not removing yourself from his encircled arms. “What kind of game?”
“Truth or dare?”
“Psh what are we, back in high school?”
“Seeing what we are doing right now, wouldn’t you say so?” The words escape Jeonghan’s mouth with a growing grin.
You ruffled to top of his head, messing up his perfectly primped hair. “...Fineeee. You going first or me?”
“I’ll go. Truth.” Jeonghan pulled you back into him, settling your back flush with his chest.
“Okay, truth: did you really mean it when you said that you liked Minji’s power suit? I know you thought it looked tacky.”
Jeonghan’s breathy laugh miffed up your hair. “I’ll say anything if it keeps me in the supervisor’s good graces.”
“HA. I knew it.”
“Which do you pick?”
“Mmmm-truth.”
“Not dare? You’re no fun.”
“I said truth!!!”
“Fine, fine.” His slender arms squeezed at your body to situate you better in between his legs. “When was the last time that you brought someone over to your place?”
“Yo-you mean like “brought someone” over?”
“You know what I mean.” In his voice you could nearly see his mischievous smile.
“I’ve told you about all of them so I don’t know why you’re asking. It’s been about a year.”
“A year? Really?”
“--Nope! You don’t get to ask any more questions. Truth or dare?”
“Dare.” Jeonghan said without a moment’s hesitation.
Your eyes wandered the room for his perfect punishment. “Ah! Take that soy sauce, the one with the wasabi bits in it...and drink it.”
Your friend sighed, but took the tiny cup in his fingers to down it all in one shot. He shivered a little and you could feel his face scrunch up, but he held his reactions back best he could.
“That was such a high school dare. You really haven’t changed.”
“I thought it was funny.”
“Truth or dare Y/n.”
“Truth.”
“Ughhh truth again?”
“ ‘Hannnn--”
“Just say dare! I promise that I’ll go easy on you.”
“Fine then. Dare.”
“I dare you...to take your shirt off.”
“What?!” Your head snapped back to send him your deathly glare. “Are you being serious right now?”
“What? It’s nothing that I haven’t seen? Are you forgetting that we’ve been friends for nearly our whole lives? That and college you were someone who would go to parties and take your shirt off. Remember that?”
“...yes.” You felt heat rise in your cheeks. “Fine then.” In one motion, you pulled your shirt over your head, jumping a little once you felt Jeonghan’s hands help tear it off your arms. You hesitated to lay back, but his arms made a decision before you could, and pulled you back into his chest. Now, it was the skin of his fingers on your bare arms that you were painfully aware of.
“T-truth or dare?” You squeaked out.
“Truth.”
“No fair, you made me do dare!”
“I already did a dare. Truth.”
From the other side of your room, your refrigerator clacked with the sound of ice cubes falling into their tray. On the door, dozens of multi-colored post-it-notes had been suck there with clear tape.
“...Why is it that you’re always writing me those notes? “yjh was here?”“
“Hmm.” He breathed out. “I had a feeling that you might ask me that one.”
“...And?”
“--Because I like to. And...”
Your anticipation hung tangibly in the air. You didn’t quite know it, but you had been waiting for his answer for so many years, you had lost count.
“...And I like seeing them around you. -Reminds me that I’m a part of your life. Kind of like how we exist together. They’re little reminders for you as well...to know that I’m around for you.”
“Jeonghan...” You wouldn’t have expected it, but tears singed the corners of your eyes.
“Truth or dare?” He cooed into your ear.
“D-dare.” Your voice shook, realizations flooding you like rain.
“I dare you to take off your pants. Can you do that?” His voice had dropped, low and gravely.
You nodded your answer, and took to unbuttoning your pants, shimmying them off where you sat on the floor. As soon as your bare legs were exposed, he had found a new place to rest his hands; you never would have guessed for them to be so beautiful-looking there.
“I choose dare.” He breathed onto your bare neck.
“I-I dare you take off our shirt too.” Your face felt furiously warm as you uttered the words and he did exactly as he was told. The sensation of your skin on his skin then sent your head spinning with just how close you had been in that moment, closer than ever before.
Jeonghans hands explored your bare legs with a touch as soft as butterfly wings. His light touches sent an aching pain to your sex as it had never felt so needy and neglected.
“Truth or dare my love?”
In an attempt to hide your frustration, you could only form the word, “T-truth?”
“Hmm...truth...” Jeonghan began to kneed into your legs, digging his nails in every so slightly. “Have you ever kept secrets from me?”
“Secrets? Why-why would I, I don’t-mmph-have any secrets to keep from you.”
“I think that’s a lie Y/n.”
Indeed it was a lie. You had kept secrets from him. Two secrets to be exact; one of them being near the precipice for the whole universe to see.
“I’ve kept secrets from you, you know.”
“What?”
“Do you dare me to show you?”
Your anxious breath caught in your lungs, full of confusion but even more excitement. Jeonghan’s hands crept slowly up to your hips.
He repeated, “Do you?”
“Ye-yes. I dare you to show me.” Your eyes had closed feeling his hands draw even farther up your body.
Your best friend surveyed your whole chest with his hands, swirling around as much skin as he could touch. He was careful not to tickle you, but rather give every ounce of your being his careful attention. For a moment, his fingers grazed over your nipples, but went to cradle your neck in his hands. He turned it to the side to expose the beating vein there, and placed the slowest and most tender kiss upon it. From the feeling of his fleeting lips, you whimpered at the sensation.
“Dare.” You managed with a dry mouth. “I dare you to touch me...anywhere you want...please...”
Jeonghan chuckled slightly into your neck. “I just had my turn, but...I’m listening.”
Your entire body keened under his fingertips, writhing messily between his legs. This time, he was careful in touching you nearly everywhere: your chest, your nipples--pinching them slightly--and down your legs, to your inner thighs where he traced up to your underwear, now wetting a little with your arousal.
“Tell me the truth.” He bit into your skin. “Am I one of your secrets?”
Your answer was given to him in the form of you forcefully tearing from his grip to push his legs together so that you could straddle them. The way that his shoulder blades flexed under your firm grip was dizzying. Your eyes fell to his lips: your secret.
“I dare you to kiss me,” You breathed onto them.
“I thought that you’d never ask.”
Jeonghan was smiling as he pulled your lips into his, and he never quite seemed to stop. Every bit of your love for him spilled into his mouth where you found the comfort from him that you had craved for years. You had felt first kisses before, but nothing was quite like this one. With Jeonghan who you had known for so long, you were thrilled to get to know him in this new and different way, and you wanted to absorb every little bit of it: the way he would caress the sides of your face so gently, or the way that he would angle your neck to meet his lips. You would never have guessed to feel so complete with him like this, but it also made all the sense in the world. It was you that he wanted, and you that he wanted to stay next to through all those years. He had never let you go, and you had never let him either.
In between kisses, you found both of yourselves giggling hysterically.
“Are we really doing this right now? Are we...?” You bit a laugh into his lip.
“Yes. I think that we are.” He engulfed you in his grasp. “I’ve wanted to do this for years, Y/n.
Jeonghan scooped you up, moving both of your bodies to the couch where he clinked with his belt buckle to remove his pants. “You really do look beautiful. Everyday. I’m not just saying that.”
You practically clawed at him to lay his body on top of yours, then wrapped your legs around his waist to align him with your own. In your unadulterated intoxication of him, you hopelessly grinded up into him, seeking some kind of stimulation from the mashing of fabric together. After a little scoff, Jeonghan’s hand cascaded down your body to rub at your throbbing sex, marveling in the way that you had soaked though your underwear just a little.
“Wow. This is how you feel about me?”
“Do you want me to say sorry?”
“No--it’s just...I wish that I had known sooner.”
Your lust brought his lips back to yours as you kissed him over and over and over, trying to make up for all of the times that you wished you had done before. His touch on your sensitive skin sent you mewling onto his tongue.
“Can I make you mine now?”
As for your response, your widened legs told him exactly what he needed to know.
In one swift motion, he had tugged off his own briefs, letting free his deliciously hard cock, sparkling at the head with his pre-cum. Looking at him like this, all for you, was like a walking dream.
Jeonghan gathered spit from his tongue to glide over his dick, then teased your impatient entrance while he watched your face contort into the most beautiful shapes he thought he had ever seen. He entered you slowly, letting each of you take in the moment as if you could forget it the next. Once you were together, his brows twitched a little as his closed eyes focused only on you. He filled you up perfectly, as if you were made for him--which you had convinced yourself that you were. Jeonghan buried his face in your neck to suck into the skin, marking you as his.
Your orgasm built much quicker than you had intended, and soon you were begging him to make you cum--which he gladly did. Your heels dug into his back upon your release which gathered more heat between your two bodies. Jeonghan didn’t skip a beat as he chased his own orgasm, fucking you into your own overstimulation and leaving you to melt under him.
“Jeong-han.” You gasped out his name through your teeth as your body quaked from the snap of his hips.
“oh god,” He uttered, tangling his fingers deep into your hair, then smashing his lips back into yours. “you’re so good for me my love...so good...”
Jeonghan let out little grunts as he came and filled you deeply with the warmth from his cum. As he throbbed within you, you knew it really was him you were made for. He lingered inside your walls as your bodies shook together with the aroma of sex fogging the air. After a while, it didn’t take long for both of you to be laughing contentedly into each other’s mouths once more.
Your best friend reached for your hand to bind all of your fingers to his. "No more secrets.”
☆彡
“Do you want the sweatpants from the top shelf or the rack?” Jeonghan called to you through your cruelly tiny apartment. “Wait...i-is this...?”
Once he had returned, in his hand he held the aged strawberry milk carton with the little cartoon fruit on the side and the scrap piece of paper wrapped around it. In the other was your little box of notes.
yjh was here
“I can’t believe that you’ve kept it this long. Why--”
“--I’ll tell you why...it’s my second secret.”
Your best friend cocked his head. “...Second?”
“Ever since that day, I’ve known, Yoon Jeonghan. I love you.”

Kaeya x Reader (Part 1 of 3)
11
Living in Khaenri’ah was harsh and brutal. Those who could not fight would not survive, and even those who did survive would not do so for long. Children were so desperate for Mora and food that they would give their lives to train as spies before even hitting puberty.
Such was the same for you.
You had no parents, at least none that you knew of. It didn’t bother you at all. Most children in the land where the God’s turned away their eyes never knew such things as “family” or home”. You weren’t special in that manner, and so you never felt like you were missing anything. Regardless, when you were 11, you decided you were tired of living on the streets. You knew the Gods would never help you, and that you were the only one who could help yourself.
So you, like many others, became a spy for Khaenri’ah. That was where you met him, Kaeya. His father had been a spy, so it seemed expected for him to become one too.
You didn’t associate with him much; you had no reason to. All you cared about was becoming stronger, so strong that the Gods would be forced to notice you. Your superiors eventually began to notice your growing power too, so it didn’t take long before you were considered the top of your class.
So really, it was no surprise when they started to prepare you and Kaeya, who’s “ranking” was just under yours, for a special mission.
12
“You’re still out training this late?” You heard a voice ask, stopping you current activity of slashing through wooden targets with your sword. You frowned, turning to see who had interrupted you.
Kaeya grinned at you, his hands placed on his hips. He had only recently hit puberty, his tan baby fat slowly growing into a strong face. His limbs were long and gangly, and his voice seemed uncertain of what octive it should be at.
Despite the oddness of his appearance, you had grown attached to him over the past year. Even though your superiors refused to tell you what your mission was, they made you train even harder than you had been for it. Their were many nights were you went to sleep with bruises littering your arms and dry tear stains on your cheeks.
But then, there was Kaeya.
After being told of your future assignment, the two of you had started to train together. You had started to look out for each other, making sure the other had enough to eat and went to sleep early enough. You even met his father, and even though you only felt coldness from him, you loved how excitedly Kaeya would talk about impressing him.
Smiling in recognition at the boy in front of you, you carefully placed the sword on the ground. “Yeah. I couldn’t sleep.” You moved closer to him, easily wrapping you arms around him.
He wrapped his arms around you waist, completing the hug and and smiling against your neck. Having hit puberty before him, you were just a brush taller than him, though you were sure that wasn’t going to last for long. You were going to enjoy it while it lasted.
“You could be doing something more interesting.” You heard his muffled tease reply.
You pulled away from him, glancing at him skeptically. “Oh yeah? Like what?”
He rolled his eyes in that playful manner he loved, grabbing your arm and dragging you away from the training area.
“Hey-! Kaeya, wait!”
“Hurry up!”
You rolled your eyes, walking faster as he pulled you to some unknown place.
“How did you find this place?” You gapped, eyes taking in the sight before you. It was high mountains surrounded by frozen valleys; there was a gentle nip in the air, a certain serenity that you could never feel in Khaenri’ah. “Where even is this place?”
“The border between Khaenri’ah and Snezhnaya.” Kaeya was sitting on the ground, his legs crossed and blue eyes watching only you. “Technically we aren’t supposed to be here, but what they don’t know won’t kill them,” he said with a small shrug.
You glared at him out of the corner of your eyes. “If this place wasn’t so beautiful, I would kill you.”
“Eh, go for it, my dearest partner.”
“Shut up.”
You watched the snow fall, trying to catch some in your hands. “It’s such a shame that these people follow the Cryo Archon’s rule. What has she ever done for them? The gods only know corruption and power.”
“I see your going into your rant about the Archons again,” Kaeya fondly replied with a playful laugh, though watched the snow himself curiously. “But you do have a point. Mondstadt would do anything for Barbatos, and he hasn’t been seen for years. Why do they worship a God who clearly doesn’t care for them?”
“Exactly!” You turned to him, a fire lit in your eyes. It was a strange thing to be passionate about, you knew. However, in Khaenri’ah, you had never known that divine love that people often described befitting an Archon. There was no Archon to watch over your home; it was every man for himself. You had been alone your whole life, until Kaeya came along.
You moved to sit down next to him, stretching out your legs in front of you. “And Rex Lapis only visits Liyue once a year. Even your father is better than that.” You scoffed, placing your head in the palm of your hand.
Kaeya frowned at that, but brushed aside the comment. “You know, people can say whatever that want about Khaenri’ah, but we get to choose our own lives and “fate” here. It’s not demanded of us by some Archon.”
You nodded in agreement, shooting him a small smile. “I’m glad. That I can choose my own fate.”
Kaeya let out a small laugh, an amused gleam in his eyes. “Yeah. Me too.”
A wave of silence washed over the two of you as you simply watched the snow fall down. Snezhnaya was truly beautiful, you thought, and you wondered what it would be like to live in a world where you could choose to go see it fully if you so desired. However, you were certain your surperiors would no hesitate to punish you if you even tried to do so.
“If you could go anywhere in Teyvat,” you heard Kaeya begin to ask, “where would you go?”
You considered the question, eyes turning to gaze up at the sky. You had never been anywhere outside Khaenri’ah, and even then, you had barely seen much of your own home. You had lived on the street for 11 years, but even then had stayed in the same area. Even now, you weren’t allowed to leave the training barracks or the watchful gazes of your superiors. This was the first time you had ever seen one of the “official” nations of Teyvat.
“Fontaine,” you answered eventually, thinking of the nation ruled by the Hydro Archon and the Goddess of Justice. “I’ve heard they have a lot of festivities there. It’s hard for common folk to ever see them, but I’ve heard that it’s still always so colorful and vibrate. It sounds so different from here.”
“I’ll take you there, some day,” you heard Kaeya promise, his voice steady and sure. “When we have enough Mora, we’ll go there together and see all the bright colors. The festivals too. We’ll be that rich.” Kaeya smiled, grabbing your hand near him as his blue eyes gazed into yours.
You smiled, a small laugh escaping your lips. “I’ll hold you to it.”
13
You and Kaeya were sent to Mondstadt, where you were supposed to secure intel for Khaenri’ah to use against them. Kaeya’s father had taken you there, anticipation building in your young body as the three of you made the long walk. You were finally seeing new horizons around you, and you felt so... free. You found it a bit ironic that you always looked down on Barbatos, the God of Freedom, and yet that was the only feeling that coursed through you as Mondstadt’s wind wove through your hair.
You glanced over at Kaeya, who seemed deep in thought. Over the past year, he had grown taller than you, his face and body slowly growing more defined, and his jaw sharper. His eyes had become more shadowed and masked, a result of the constant training he was put through.
You could say the same about yourself. You had learned how to bite your tongue and keep your thoughts buried inside you. You no longer talked so openly about your distastes for the Archons, and you no longer dared to sneak off again. The last time you had done so, when you and Kaeya snuck off to the border, your superiors had noticed you missing and had struck you until you could no longer stand. You were unable to see Kaeya for months, and the next time you saw him, you could no longer see the “him” you had known when you looked into his eyes. It all just seemed to be a facade, a well put together mask that he wore.
Still, you reconignzed the boy that you had grown close with still there, somewhere hidden behind the icy walls he had built, harsher than the snow falling that you had seen with him in Snezhnaya. You saw the boy that had promised to bring you to Fontaine one day, and you could not get rid of the fondness that settled over you.
Regardless, the two of you were to arrive at the Dawn Winery, where you would find a way to win the favor of Master Crepus and be taken in by him. His family was the most influential in all of Mondstadt, and you could certainly find out the nation’s darkest secrets through him.
Kaeya’s father kissed his forehead, shooting you a look out of the corner of his eye. “Be careful. Care for eachother.” That was all he said before you left you two, a pair of 13 year-olds with an impossible mission before them.
Terrified, you reached to your side and laced your fingers with Kaeya’s. You squeezed his hand tightly, trying to tame the pounding of your heart.
Whether to reassure you or himself, he squeezed back.

we will split the gatherings (day 10)
Tumblr media
A/N: @obxmermaid this is day 10, this is gonna be where both the readers parents and dracos dad meet the young couple for seperate dinners or so we think. full of twists and of course turns. here is another pile of word vomit. so sorry about the word vomit.
pairing: Draco Malfoy x reader
prompt: visiting relatives
tags: none that i can think of
mentioning @obxmermaid  &  @sweetness47
25 days of hogwarts
the events of this story take place after hogwarts finds out about yours and Draco’s relationship. after you both had spiked nog at the three broomsticks, after those events it seemed appropriate to set dates to meet with both yours and draco’s parents and introduce you guys as a couple to them.
after sending a fire message to your parents they said they would meet you over the break in london to have dinner. you didnt tell them about draco, you wanted it to be a surprise.
Draco got a response from his father that said leaky cauldron, 3pm dont be late and your mother will not be joining us.
that was it it was all set. one day would be your parents, the next day draco’s father. draco knew why his mother wasnt gonna make it but you and Draco talked to Minerva and got permission to use flue system to get to london for the day. told her you both would be back the next evening.
she agreed and released you both to use the flue, to meet with your parents first in london. you walked through the streets holding on to the arm of your loving boyfriend.
YN: im so nervous...
Draco: love, everything will be fine. please dont worry too much bout this... alright we go in, have dinner with them, talk with them, then we will head to stay at the 3 broomsticks for the night and meet my father tomorrow afternoon and use flue to get back to hogwarts right after that.
YN: i hope that this goes well cause this is going to make things easy for us. by that i mean if our parents bless our being together we could be married right out of hogwarts... or ya know at least living together. where would you.. ya know...
Draco turns you to face him as you both stop walking.
Draco: i will be happy anywhere you are, you have my heart, you hold it in your hands. i dont care what my father or anyone says i belong with you as you belong with me. these jewelry pieces proove that no matter what we blong with each other and thats what matters. we make our own destiny and we have to seize the moment. so lets go in and have this dinner and then head to diagon alley to shop round before we head back to hogwarts.
YN: that sounds perfect.
you set it up, you walked in holding Draco’s arm and a waitress approached you.
waitress: may i help you?
YN: we are part of a party of 4, its under YLN
the lady looks at her tablet for a moment before grabbing 2 menus and leading you and Draco to a booth near the fountain and a semi-secluded area. you watched the look on your parents faces when you approached with draco at your side.
draco took your coat and hung it on the nearby coat rack the same one your parents stuff was on. thats when your mom and you stood up and you hugged her to which she returned the hug, your father approached you next with another hug.
laura (your mom): its good to see you daughter we have missed you.
yn: its been a long time mother...
Dillon (your father) : I trust daughter that you have a perfect explanation as to why you did not mention that you were bringing a male to this dinner. Where's Hermione?
Yn: father mother this man beside me is my boyfriend Draco Malfoy. Hermione couldn't come anyway she had divination. We came here to introduce us as a couple and we wish to ask for your blessing. It's a long story.
Laura: it's very nice to meet you Draco. Daughter please tell us the story of how your relationship came to be. We would love to hear this. Wouldn't we Dillon?
Dillon stares at Draco for a moment before his eyes go wide and he reaches for his wand.
Dillon: his father and mother are supports of he who must not be named. How can you sit here with us and act like everything is alright.
Yn: father he is nothing like his parents. I saved him from his parents.
your father looks at you in complete shock.
Dillon: YN have you lost your mind. his parents are followers of you know who and they will not rest till the will of him is done. what is to stop this boy from switching to the dark side and killing you. what makes him different and worthy of your love.
YN: cause he is my soulmate. i hid this from you guys for almost 2 years cause i knew how you would react. so what you would rather me marry some snobby pureblood jerk. i gave Draco my heart, he has my heart and my love dad. im beginning to think this dinner was a bad idea.
Laura takes your hand, you takes draco’s, Laura takes Dillons, together you and Draco show your parents the love the bond between you both to make them see that this union is not going away.
once the connection is broken, your father breaks into tears. he now realizes what you both have been through the sneaking around, the lying, the rivalry rouse, telling your friends, confessing this to the entire student body plus the professors at the feast, the laughter, the passion, the gifts of recent.
Laura: my my its happened. he is your soulmate darling...
YN: yes he is, and it took us almost our entire eduation to realize it. when the professors found out we were confronted by our main teachers and the headmaster but we were given their blessing to bring our relationship into the light cause Dumbledore saw the love we had for eachother. we didnt bother hiding it from them after we confessed. I'm so sorry I hid this from you guys. I wanted to tell you but I was sure that we would not have a civilized dinner or conversation if I had been blunt about it and not approached this with caution.
Laura: I guess I have my choice made... What about you Dillon?
Dillon had to think about this, for he knew that if he didn't give his blessing you would never ever ever forgive him for that. But if he did he would gain a son-in-law that would keep his little girl safe.
Dillon was about to speak when a magic barrier appeared inside the restaurant, you all readied your wands just in case. None of you knew what this was but it was a good thing that no muggles could see this cause you 4 were in the magic section.
Thats when lucius and narcissa malfoy walked into the restaurant, and up to your table.
Draco: mother, father. What are you doing here?
Lucius: i had a feeling about why you wanted to meet, so i tracked you here. Who are these people and why is there a brat attached to your arm boy.
Dillon: why dont you grab some manners malfoy?
Lucius: ah dillon still running around living among the non magic folk in these streets.shocking.
Dillon: i was just about to guve these children my blessing... they are in a relationship.
Lucius and narcissa both took haste in pulling out their wands. Aiming them for you ans draco.
Narcissa: draco, lets get out of here and away from these people. So you can fill the purpose that the dark lord has for you.
Draco: never. I'm not going anywhere with you guys and i do not serve he who must not be named.
You smiled as you kept one hand attached to Draco and one hand pointing your wand defensively at his parents. Your parents then stood in front of you both then and there between you and Draco and his parents.
Laura: you both are treading on dangerous ground. Leave now or give them your blessing. There is no need for this to get ugly.
Lucius: I have a better idea.
He takes his wand and points it at you.
Lucius: either you both stand down or I kill your brat.
Draco: you won't harm any of us again today..
With the wave of his wand you Draco Laura and Dillon all disappear in a cloud of smoke. Only to land in olivanders wand shop. Your parents cloaked all of you.
Dillon: draco you just saved our lives. You both have my blessing. Now I assume that the plan is for you both to finish school first.
Yn: yes and we are gonna work very hard to make sure that we both graduate and make sure that no harm comes to any of us.
Laura: and how are we gonna feeling after that mess of a dinner.
Yn: honestly not sure how I'm feeling I'm just happy we are all OK. It wasn't easy though seeing them taunt you guys and Draco like that. I wanted to use some of the dangerous non vocal spells that I know on them but I didn't for our safety and that of the people around us.
Laura was by your side at that moment so was Dillon they surrounded you and Draco putting a cloak on you both that hides you both from any evil thing.
Laura: now we have to go tell the ministry what just happened with Draco’s parents we wont speak about you 2 but you might want to speak with cornielius sometime soon. But we will be in touch soon.
Your parents both disappeared after hugs were exchanged. This left you and Draco in diagon alley in olivanders.
Draco: your still shaking love.
Yn: I thought I was gonna loose you.
Draco: that's not gonna happen. your not gonna loose me ever..  the ring and the necklace are like promises that one day in our lifetime in our near future we will be married and this will serve as a forever reminder of our love.
that was quite the day to be had. this was the most excitement of their entire relationship. but the journey isnt over yet
~to be continued~

To Have and To Hold
(This occured in early December)
Charlotte lingered in the water, the hem of her pale, nearly white sea-foam dress played with by the waves.  Her toes wiggled in the sand, her lovely heels tossed aside once she had stepped off the Lion's Arch cobblestones. At the gentle chuckle she glanced behind her, breaking into a small smile at the familiar face, and form, that had crept silently to her side.
Having followed suit,  Mercer tugged his shoes off, rolled his trousers up to his knees and waded in behind her, his arms slipping around her waist.  "I just... It called to me." She murmered, leaning into him with his finery, her hair curled up in it's usual dark curls, but pinned around her head as well, supporting delicate little flowers and blooms, without her glasses.  Smiling she gazed upwards to him, "You look so very handsome" she intoned softly.
"You're a sailor, love. She calls to you like she does me." He spoke, holding her close. "And you're beautiful." Charlotte laughed, letting herself rest in his arms, closing her eyes as his words and feather soft kisses peppered her face and skin, before turning her lips upwards for him with a murmer. "I thought we were supposed to meet on the boat~ Have some wine, say some pretty and fancy words..." she drawled.
He smiled and leaned in for another kiss. "We have time yet. Unless you're in a hurry."
"I mean... we do..mmm...have...things to do..but..." She giggled, returning each kiss softly, her hands seeking his, entangling their digits with a sigh, before taking another deep breath of sea air.
"But if we linger too long, this wind'll make a mess of my hair" she offered, breaking into a smirk. "And yours..." the smile barely hid on her face. "It's the natural look for folks like us." he smirked, as his hand gently squeezed. "Well, Yes, but... Not nearly the best for all the..." she trailed off, looking up at him and slowly smirking.
"All the pomp and circumstance we barely want." she teased, swaying for a moment with a particularly strong wave that dampens more of her dress, a few flowers fluttering in her hair. "...We have the sea as our witness"
"Maybe we should get your sister to come down here to the beach." he smirked. Charlotte paused, her tone thoughtful, "I think she'd understand that.. Maybe I could just forge her signature.'  snorting, fingertips rubbing his hands softly, squeezing his hand firmly. "Like a true pirate." his words teased with a smirk as he returned each squeeze and stroke.
"I learnt from the best" she teased, nuzzling him very quietly, her words soft, almost prayer like as the wind rustles her hair. "As the tides come in and out, so too will my love, always there, never to be ceased and just as always a pull on my heart and mind."  Nuzzling his cheek to hers, squeezing her hands, Mercer mumbled. "You've always got a better way with words than me, sweet."
"Mmm... What were your vows or promises going to be?" Charlotte teased, leaning in to steal a soft little kiss, her breath catching as she felt the push of the water beginning to come in deeper with the rising tide.
"Hell if I know." He sighed his response. "Been trying to put them to words for a few days now." Snorting at that, she shook her head as she eyed the waves, her head finding the crook of his neck and shoulder. "But it is what you want" she queried him, squeezing his hand.
"Absolutely." he reassured her, tilting his head down to kiss the top of her head.
"You make me feel safe, and supported. You make me feel like we are equals," she stated softly.  "You're my safe harbor." he echoed, his thumb ran across the back of her hand. "I know I can take off the armor and things I use to keep others away when I'm with you."
"And I will step in to defend you if I can. And I know you always have an eye... pardon the pun. On my back." She chuckled, going up on tiptoes to steal a kiss from him again. He smirked into the kiss. "Got an eye on everything else too, sweet." Cackling she laughed, "If you didnt have an eye on everything I'd be worried" interlocking her fingers with his. "I will be your wife, better or worse, high tides or low".  Mercer smiled warmly and brought her hand to hiss, kissing her fingers.
"Thank you for letting me be me, sweet."
"Always." She murmered quietly, giggling ever so softly. "Last chance to turn back...Mmm... say something pretty to me before I put this band on you" she snorted, peering up at him with a quirked chestnut brow. He squeezed her hand, thinking for a moment. "I would gladly spend the rest of my life on shore, if It meant staying with you."
"And I would never ask that of you" she chuckled, leaning in to take another kiss, patting down her pockets for a moment, drawing out a heavy gold band engraved with images of mermaids and sailing. "Don't want to wait for Elaine?" he smirked, reaching into his own pocket.
"...Nah. I have to keep up my reputation of a troublesome sister" she teases quietly, waiting for him as she nibbled her lower lip, her smile wide. "From fruitcake, to sailing, to the tides and seas..." He removed the gold ring, a simple thing, from his pocket and held it up for her to see. "until the horizon and further" Her words hiccuped for just a moment, before grinning widely.  "You're stuck with me." She teased, lifting up her hand for him, very softly speaking. "Do you take me as your wife?"
"I do.." he shivered, and slipped the ring onto her finger. "Will you take me as your husband?"  Charlotte nodded, breaking into a giggle and trying not to laugh, even as the crashing water tugged at her skirts. "I do!" She giggled, grinning at him. Bowing her head, her kiss grazed his knuckle before sliding the heavy gold band onto his finger.
Mercer returned the grin, and his fingers interlaced with hers, their rings touching. "This is where we kiss, I believe."
"Really? A kiss... here...?" Char chuckled, squeezing his hand and staring down at their rings, her voice warbling. "I suppose I could allow it... from my husband" she chuckled, stepping in a smidge closer to him, half hiccuping in between giggles.  Laughing softly Mercer leaned into her, pressing his lips to hers. He was met with kisses in return, soon followed by laughter and being held impossibly close. Their lips met again and again, hands holding onto eachother firmly as if not wanting to part.  After a few moments she eased back, her breath a panting gasp.
"Something the matter?" he purred, leaning in to steal another quick kiss which nearly started it all over again. "I'm going to faint" she laughed with the faintest of whispers, holding onto him. "You're taking my breath away" A rogueish grin soon followed, "You can borrow some of mine.." he crooned with that familiar smirk.
"Mmmm... I should steal a breath here and there, store it in a jar incase we need to fill the sails," her tone matching her own smirk as she tugged his hands.
"You trying to say I'm a blowhard?"
"Nah, Id need at least two breaths to fill the sails" she teased, resting her forehead against him with a snort. "Only a slight blowhard then." he echoed, smiling as their noses barely touched.
"Slight" she echoed quietly, catching her breath as the winds blew around them, chuckling ever so softly. "I am so in awe of this... it's perfect."  Slipping his arms around her waist her nodded, "It is. It's fitting." Snorting quietly she nodded, her form stepping in closer to his. "Secret loves and promises... think well both end up behind bars?" She began to sway. "Technically.." He swayed with her. "It wouldn't be the first time."
"I mean..." she chuckled, leaning into him and swaying, slowly spinning around in a circle. "Not together~"  He grinned a little wider, leading her in the circle. "First time we met..." Rolling her eyes she scoffed. "I wasnt in there though" , dancing with him in the seafoam, giggling with a shake of her head. "But we have eachother.. and our creatures".
Slowly he coaxed from her a gentle spin, "That we do..." he smiled crookedly, reeling her back into his grasp. "Mmmm," she leaned up on her tiptoes to kiss him again, before sighing. "Now... how do we run away from our responsibilities.."
"Get on the ship for a few days?" he smirked.
"Sunbathe naked?"
"Perfect.."
"Maybe a skinny dip or two~"
"Or three or five.."
"We need Elaine to sign the paper first~" she countered, giving him a look that quickly faded into uproariously laughter and a flail, her body soon being hauled up into the man's strong arms, noses to noses and lips to lips soon following as her carried her accross the sand towards a waving figure.
"Oi, Elaine! We sav'd ya the trouble!" he cracked a grin, shifting his new bride in his arms before hurrying the pace along the sand and setting sun.

Rated M. I do not own Fairy Tail or any of the characters in this story. I only own the plot.
“Disgusting creatures may haunt your dreams, but wrong decisions will deem their demise.”
Summary:  Horrid monsters ravage quaint, unsuspecting towns, turning them just mere wisps of folk-lore. Ending their wrath won't be easy. A small group of warriors meet up to dream of the inevitable, but with doubts, debts, and barely any training, they don't know where to begin. Being humanity's last hope has its perks, but finding a traumatized young woman hiding in the forest -full of monsters- reality sorta just smirks and spits in your face, reminding you that you live in a dystopia.

Chapter One: Warm Memories and Dark Pasts
The street was barren. Lifeless. Dead. It was if Mother Nature had taken her sweeper and swept away the human filth. Disgusting. The bone-chilling cold wafted through the air, seemingly unfazed by the street's stillness. The male exhaled, fog from his breath visible in front of his pink tinted nose. He shivered- just a tad- while craning his neck to look at the sun-ridden sky. Snow slowly started to accumulate, just adding onto the suspicious aura the weather emitted. He sighed, snuffling deeper into his scarf while placing his hands into his hoodie pocket, trying to conjure warmth with a plume of smoke evaporating into the crisp, cold air from his sound of his boots clacking was the only sign of life. His pace quickened, suspicions growing with it. His fingers started to numb as he was rushing down the cobblestone pathway. Another puff of air escapes his body, much more in a haste than before. People who said running keeps you warm in the cold might as well be damned, but he was still determined to leave this freezing hell-hole as soon as humanly possible.
Quickly scanning each building, he scrambled inside his pockets in search of his key ring. House 372 on Octarila Avenue. Weird name, yes. Spooky looking house, also yes. But it was home to the rejects, who valued everything they were given; even if given meant stolen. He perused through all his keys, slightly jumping when the outside porch light flickered to life, sensing it was nighttime as an ominous dark cloud loomed over the town. His keys clinked together as he stuck the right one into the slot, then turned it. A low moan sounded in the distance, signaling he was to hurry his ass up. He threw himself inside and slammed the door behind him. He instantly cringed at the loud noise, hoping to all the gods it wasn't loud enough to hear from far away. He let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding in, and slumped against the door.
"Looks like someone just about pissed their pants. Also, don't go slammin' doors 'n shit, its like you're begging to be brutally torn to shreds." A tall, dark haired brute sauntered his way into the room, a frown of disapproval plainly showing. " Natsu...where have you been all day?"
Natsu grunted while stripping off his hoodie, not bothering to give a proper answer, or rather, one that Gray would be wanting to hear. He turned, locked the door, then yanked the curtains to a close, cutting off any light the windows were filtering in - which wasn't very much to begin with.
"Get along, now is not the time for arguing." A scarlet haired woman emerged from the hallway, arms crossed indicating she wasn't pleased with the dark haired male's behaviour. She raised a brow at his scowling. Pushing that aside for later, she welcomed Natsu back home with a smile, but a tinge of worry escaped her features for a mere moment. That was enough for Natsu to realize something seemed off with the two; in fact ever since he stepped foot in the household.
Suddenly, a flash of white light illuminated the curtains; barely peeking out from the uncovered sides. Following it was a distant grumble of thunder, agitating the ground slightly. Small knick-knacks clattered against each other while a pencil rolled off of a desk.
"Thundersnow.1. Not much to fret over. What's with you two? You seem…" Natsu paused, "...off." He draped his hoodie on the arm of the couch, not noticing the coat rack screwed to the wall behind him. Either that or he just didn't care.
Gray sighed, arms going limp on his sides, he pondered over his choice of words, obviously disgusted with what he was about to say. "We were…...worried about you. It's not like you to go out without telling anyone, and you were gone for hours. We thought you were….." His voice broke a few times, trying to grasp a hold of his words; he began again."We thought you were subjected to to horrors that everyone else was given." His hands were now clutched at his sides, bangs covering his facial features.
Natsu squinted his eyes at Gray's choice of words and thought about why he sounded so worried. It wasn't like Gray to get worked up over much, he never jumped to conclusions much. He also never shown any regard towards Natsu, unless they were fighting.
The scarlet haired woman spoke right after, "Natsu, you should know not to go outside like that. It's dangerous for your well being as well as ours. You should know full well that those things are closing in on our base. Stay here and do not leave until we are ready to move out."
"Move out?!" Gray's head flipped back up. "W-we can't just 'move out,' have you lost your mind? There's no way in literal Hell we could ever get out of here unscathed or alive. Soon they will find us and there will be no escape, leaving isn't an option!" He started to hyperventilate, distraught with her plan of action.
"I somewhat agree with you Gray, but it wouldn't hurt to try." His voice was low and understanding. Lightly tapping his chin with his fake golden claw, he predicted what should be their plan of approach.
"Are you insane?! 'Wouldn't hurt to try' my ass! It would literally 'hurt to try,' we might even die!" Natsu's eyes widened, never had he seen Gray so distraught over something. He opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off with another voice.
"Calm down Gray. We have something the other civilians will never have." The three looked at eachother and spoke without words, all silently exchanging looks; giving approval of leaving the base. Gray seemed to start calming down from the show he put on earlier.
"So, Natsu, I still don't think you answered Gray's question earlier." All eyes directed towards said male; slowly shifting uncomfortably under their gaze.
"I've been….out?" He gave a fake smile, sensing impending doom on his poor, old, fragile soul.
"Natsu. Answer. Now." She was starting to get ticked off, he could tell. A sense of anger radiated off her. He decided not to dawdle any further.
"S-sorry Erza.. I've been gathering intel about the monster's whereabouts and practically jotting down anything i can about them. The more we know, the better." His hands fumbled with his scarf, a sign he was distressed with the vexatious2 feel in the air. It was a habit, his scarf gave him the contentment he needed. It also helped with fumbling over words; it happened a lot to say the least.
"Sufficient answer. I'll take it." Erza elbowed Gray's side, earning another scowl from him.
"Yeah." Was all he said, giving Erza a rude look.
Erza nodded. "I want you all well-rested for tomorrow. Make sure to pack everything you need, but not too much it will slow you down. I really don't need someone else succumbing to a tragic fate."
Both Gray and Natsu exchanged glances, slowing shaking their head as to why she was so formal sometimes.
"Just say die." Natsu tilted his head, but jumped up at her murderous intent. Gray chuckled lowly, muttering an 'idiot' under his breath. Natsu decided to share Erza's murderous intent to Gray, nobody needed to be left out, now did they?
Erza slowly stalked off, leaving the two disgruntled men by themselves. Not the wisest of decisions made. When she was out of sight, Gray spoke up.
"You lied." He seethed. Clenching his teeth, he had given the most repulsive look directed to Natsu.
"I didn't lie. I just stretched the truth a little bit. No harm, no foul." Natsu was a bit irritated with the look he was getting but shrugged it off. He turned around and began to walk out of the room before Gray clenched the ending of his low-riding scarf and yanked it backwards, throwing the male to the floor along with it.
"What the Hell?! What do you think you're doing, you asshole!" Natsu rubbed his sore throat, trying to push up off of the floor and sock Gray in the nose.
"No harm done, eh? How about harm when Erza beats the shit out of you for deceiving her with your lies? Putting her in a false sense of comfort? She really believes you are finding information, do you really wanna know what she would do when she looks to you for guidance tomorrow when we leave here? And when she figures out you've been out drinking? You'd be dead where you stand. I can literally smell it, fire breath." Gray grabbed Natsu's scarf one last time, raised it upwards with his head following and dropped it, a loud thump and yelp resonating from the now injured male.
"Cut that shit out before I beat it out of you." Natsu grumbled, rubbing his scalp. "Look, I know she'll be mad, but I do have a few things written up about them." Natsu finally pushed himself back up on his feet then started to readjust his scarf.
"Like what?" Gray scoffed, watching Natsu's futile attempts at getting the perfect position for the scarf. He eventually just took the whole thing off and draped the two ends on each side of his neck. Gray raised an eyebrow when his eyes met back up to his.
"That they...like to kill?" Natsu averted his eyes. He knew he was going to receive an unthinkable punishment.
"NO SHIT SHERLOCK! " Gray roared, throwing his fist against Natsu's cheek. Obviously pissed to the brim with Natsu's fucked up antics.
"YOU WANNA GO WATSON?!" Natsu grasped his cheek in pure anger and kicked Gray in the stomach, sending him to the floor.
"YOU TWO BETTER NOT BE FIGHTING!" Erza yelled from her room. Both boys stopped, a sense of dread washing over their bodies, fearing for their lives, they simultaneously laughed.
"Of course not! We were just playing a game in here!"
"Aye!"
"Good." Erza replied just loud enough for them to hear from how far the two rooms were. It was surprising to hear how calm she was, yet they were so far away from her, they could barely fathom how they could understand her.
They both sighed in defeat and began rubbing their sore spots. Exchanging looks, they both nodded silently. Natsu held his hand out, grabbing Gray's and hoisting him back up, mumbling a soft apology while Gray sounded his own.
"So is that all you really have about them?" Gray sounded upset in a way, like he was actually hoping to hear something useful from Natsu once in a while.
"'Course not, whaddya take me for, a moron?" Natsu chuckled, plopping himself on the couch seated right by where he was standing.
"Well, actually, yes. I do." Gray smiled, seating himself right by Natsu.
"Oof, bullet to the heart." Natsu motioned that action, earning an eye roll and a shake of his head from Gray.
"Anyway, I have a whole sketchbook full of things. I don't draw in it, since I've never seen those bastards yet. It's just full of notes and things that I hear from other people who actually faced with them, and yet managed to escape. Pretty badass if you ask me."
"So what you're saying is, you went to the bar down the street and asked a couple drunkies about this? Are you even sure they're in their right mind? Not considering you may not even have a mind, sorry I even asked."
"Alright wise guy, you think you have better info than me? Check it!" Natsu proudly flipped his sketchbook over so Gray could scan over it. Neat, small handwriting filled the pages. Notes were scattered in a few places, enough to fill the whole page if not for the weird drawings placed here and there. Looked like Natsu's interpretation of those creatures. What a disgusting plague they were. Ridding himself of the thought, he nodded and looked back over to Natsu's beaming face, obviously proud of his findings. Gray didn't know whether to feel annoyed, thankful, or sad. Sad that he couldn't see Natsu's ass get beaten alive if he turned up to Erza empty-handed. Thankful they had something to refer to, even if on close inspection it was all shit. Annoyed with that smug smirk on his face, cocky bastard.
The wind began to pick up, the cheap glass windows they had rattled violently as if they were to shatter sometime soon. Cold air began to creep up in the house through the weathered down wood and door opening. A few minutes passed before Gray spoke up.
"Good not everything you said was a lie." Gray watched as Natsu slowly got back up to pick up the pencil that rolled off his desk earlier and set his sketchbook down. He then sat back by Gray and began to fiddle with a set of golden, fake claws he had on his fingers. With that man, his fashion sense was a lost cause. Not like Gray's was any better.
Natsu hmphed in response, too lazy to answer. He lounged back, the old sofa protesting over the weight. His fingers slid down the intricate details on his claw. The bottom was shaped like a deer's footprint, yet still came to a sharp point like a claw should be. Holes were put on the base of it, 5 to be exact, and the rest had a bumpy fixture to it, giving Natsu something to rub his other fingers on if bored.
Gray wasn't bothered with Natsu's lack of conversation. The silence was comforting too.
Breaking the silence, Natsu sighed long and hard, obviously upset with something. Gray didn't say anything, nor batted an eye. Natsu did it once again, even more long and hard than before. Gray now raised a brow. Natsu was about to do it again, but was stopped.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? Can't get enough air to your brain?"
Natsu glared back, but only uttered out a single word.
"Backpfeifengesicht3."
"Excuse me? Wanna run me by that again, Smart Aleck?" Gray fumed, clutching the chain attached to his jeans.
Natsu just shrugged his shoulders, irritating Gray to the very brink.
"If you're gonna fucking say something, say it so I can hear."
"MAYBE if your ears weren't so CLOGGED with earwax you could hear me clear as day!"
"So you wanna be like that huh? Let's see who is DEAF when I'M THROUGH WITH YOU-" Gray quickly snatched the end of Natsu's scarf once again, getting ready to throw him down. Natsu had his hand on the rim of Gray's shirt and leg pulled up, ready to kick.
A dark shadow loomed from above, making the two boys jump out of their skin. They didn't have to turn around to know who it was. It was Satan getting ready to take them to Hell and back. So long world, you were shitty till the very end.
"It's 10PM. Gray. Natsu. Bed. Now." Erza growled, grabbing two tufts of their hair and slinging them towards the doorway. The males slowly glanced back to Erza, only to find her menacing glare staring right back at them. Goosebumps traveled along their arms and weirdly, their legs. Erza's glare suddenly grew, causing them to skitter down the hallways to their rooms, slamming the doors shut. Erza was left alone in dark silence. After a few moments she sighed. Walking over to the window, she opened the curtains just a tad to peek outside. Snow was still falling, coating the streets with a thin layer of white. The moon was huge, engulfing almost the whole window. Looking down the street was a red light. She instantly shut them again and rushed to her room, closing the door very slowly with only a mere click indicating it was fully shut.
Natsu took in the sight of his room when he walked in, letting the warmness that was trapped in there flow out of the door and onto him. Moonlight poured out of the window, falling down on his bed like it was showcased in a spotlight. Small knick-knacks couldn't be seen quickly, the shadows from his bookcase and dresser were easily found on the other hand. He scanned the compacted area, thinking beforehand on what to take and what to leave behind. He was known for hoarding a few things here and there, nothing major, it seemed this task may prove to be more difficult for him than the others. On the bright side a couple things had caught his eye. While walking up to them, the floor creaked with every step, protesting under his weight. Squinting and shoving a few things out of the way, he grabbed the essentials. Lighter, matches, pocket knife, pencil sharpener, pencils, erasers, a spare sketchbook, a few handfuls of candy, a picture, books, and his necklace. That would do for now he guessed. He packed those in his backpack and carefully placed the picture in the front pocket. Hoisting it up, he laid it in the corner of the room, giving one last look to everything else. He had time, but for now he closed the curtains and clipped them shut, all light diminishing into nothingness. Throwing back the covers, his bed creaked while he settled himself onto it. His body thanked him instantly, it was like the bed had swallowed him whole and wouldn't let go for shit. Looking up with glazed over, hazy eyes, he stared at the ceiling. He sketched out lines and shapes from it, following each dip and indentions it had. His eyes had traveled every line before closed his eyes again, only now was he greeted with the warm embrace of his covers, the sweet sensation lulling himself to sleep.
"I never understood why you take an interest in those dastardly beasts. Why don't you like something innocent like a house cat?"
"You're one to talk about "dastardly beasts,' Dad, and why not a lion instead of a house cat? They're so much cooler and bigger, perfect for cuddling." A little boy twirled a pencil in his fingers, sitting on the cold rock of the cave under him. He was drawing a big lion with feathers, graceful yet dangerous. He gave the biggest and most wholehearted smile to his not so likely father.
The dragon gave a displeased look to his son. He swiveled his head downwards, cautious of not hitting the human child with his snout. "I'm just trying to get you to value the small things in life. Even if it's extremely small. A sunny day, laughter, a smile from someone you care about. All those things mean a lot, but can be taken away very easily. Don't take them for granted. I want you to live a life worth living."
"I-is something bad going to happen Papa?" His voice shuddered, his arm shaking while trying to hold on to the dragon's nose. "Is e-everything okay?" Fear was laced within his voice. The pencil was long gone now, hiding in the dark cracks of the cave, forgotten from the young child.
"Don't worry about it. That's for older you to figure out. No ill will will come to you if you choose the right pathway. Now go on and get ready for bed."
The boy reluctantly got up and put his stuff away in his corner and warily crept up to his father's side. Warmth radiated off of his scales, enveloping his whole body.
"Night night, Neel." He cuddled up against his father, closing his eyes, the sweet sensation lulling him to sleep.
"Good night, Natsu." Igneel rested his head on his arm right by where Natsu was fast asleep, snoring away. The dragon gave a soft smile before he too, fell asleep.
Natsu was pulled away from his slumber by a dark figure, shaking him restlessly. He pressed his hands against their nose, not having enough strength to fight back.
"What the hell's wrong with you?" Gray harshly whispered, only audible for Natsu and anyone else in the room. Not that anyone was, he didn't think. Testing that theory, he flicked his head left and right, only seeing Gray in his room. Gray pushed Natsu's hands off of his face.
"What are you doing? It's like.." Natsu's sentence trailed off while he leaned over to look at his alarm clock. "Gray its 2 in the fucking morning, the real question is what you're doing." He mimicked Gray's level of voice, already knowing Erza was asleep and they didn't want to wake her.
"I heard you sobbing like a baby and mumbling about cuddling? Sorry if I intruded on a wet dream."
Natsu shook his head, running his fingers through his hair. "No...No, it wasn't that. Honestly I can't remember what my dream was about." Natsu casually lied, letting out a yawn before placing his hands back in his lap.
"Well whatever it was it had you riled up. Just don't do it again, you might blow our cover." Gray sat on the edge of Natsu's bed, keeping him company, also to make sure he was okay before taking his leave.
"So uh…" Natsu started, pondering his choice of words. "Excited for our big escape tomorrow?" He inwardly cringed.
"Don't even start." Gray huffed, crossing his arms. "Can't believe we are leaving. There's nowhere else to go."
"You don't know that. There's always something. Don't be an acosmist4.I plan on making a map for wherever we go, we can learn things, y'know?" Natsu smiled, he was somewhat excited to leave. All he knew was this building. Correction, all they knew was this building.
"Since when did you want to learn things?" Gray gave a low scoff, impressed how everything was turning out. Never had Natsu wanted to learn, nor used big words that sometimes Gray never knew what he was talking about. Never had Erza liked to leave places she knew, out into the open where their coffin was placed in every corner. And yet, never had he been so careful or scared. The world changed and so did they. He decided he didn't like change either.
"I thought it would be a good idea to learn and know things about the creatures trying to kill us." He sarcastically replied like it was just a normal thing to say. It really wasn't.
"Fair enough." Gray sighed, pushing himself up off Natsu's bed. The two men nodded, signaling this was the end of their conversation. Gray stalked off to the door, looking at the full backpack in the corner. He hung his head low and opened the door.
"Good night, Gray. Sleep well."
"You too, buddy." Gray turned around and smiled, slowly closing the door. A soft click echoed through his room Natsu couldn't help but smile as well.
"A smile from someone you care about. "
1= Thundersnow. Sometimes when it snows, it thunders! Very rare to happen, ain't that somethin'?
2= Vexatious. Causing someone to feel annoyance, frustration, or worry.
3= Backpfeifengesicht. "A face that needs a fist in it."
4=Acosmist. A person who believes nothing exists.
Qwertys Notes: Woah! The first chapter of Desiderium is finally finished! Whaddya guys think? Yae or nae? Anyywayy~ heads up, future chapters will be very sad and gorey considering this is a dystopia! Also, if you couldn't already tell, i put numbers by words, just in case some of my readers don't know what they mean! In this story, Natsu is a bit OC, but I hate it when fans perceive Natsu to be stupid and not know anything. When those monsters came to life, he needed to get smarter to survive and save his friends. At least, that's what he thinks. Gray has given up all hope, as usual. I don't have an updating schedule, but reviews do help my process go faster! I have a lot planned for the future, hopefully you guys stick around for it! This is my first ever fanfiction, criticism is always welcome. Stay tuned for the next chapter!

A Fallen Star (OneShot)
Tumblr media
I haven’t ever.. posted anything like this before;; So forgive me if it’s hard to read... UM! This is a little thing I wrote about Popola’s mother, Shoshola Sil Shola, the Oracle. Please enjoy!
As per usual, she lost sight of her husband. How could someone so tall get lost so quickly? Truthfully though, it was she who had became lost.
“ Is it not as if I enjoy wandering…” she mumbled to herself, clutching her fur trimmed cloak tighter on her chest. Even in such a warm outfit, Popola was not used to the cold stale air of Ishgard.
“He’ll look for me eventually,” Popola’s sigh created a small cloud, though she’d experienced this many a time it still felt magical every time she could see her breath. Her map told her the building next to her was a guild of some sort, the Athenaeum Astrologicum.
“ Gods be praised! Hopefully they’ll allow me to sit by the fire a while,” The rosey cheeked lalafell happily darted towards the door, opening it in hopes to escape the frosty air. Rather than the warmth, another sense hit her first. A strong… nostalgia? No she had never been here before. The guild receptionist called out to her in concern, seeing Popola grabbing her head in pain. Popola assured the receptionist that she was alright, just a bit cold.
“ Oh? Have the fates brought a new prodigy to our door?” a male voice chuckled, “ Welcome to the Athenaeum Astrologicum! I, Jannequinard welcome you to our humble guild. I take it you have an interest in the sharlayan style of astromancy?”
She did not, to be frank. Well, not at first at the very least. This feeling… being surrounded by a library of books and star maps, it felt like home. Could appearing here be another instance of Nymeia’s divine guidance? As not to be rude, she engaged Jannequinard, allowing him to explain mission in spreading this style of fortune telling. As she was listening, something caught her eye. it was… silver? No some type of mythril? What was this… pang in her chest?
“ You see, in this style isn’t used for tracking and mapping, but rather- oh? My lady are you quite alright?” the guildmaster asked, fixing his glasses as he noticed Popola’s full attention was given to the odd flat globe mounted on the wall. “ Ah! A keen eye you have there! this Starglobe belonged to one of our orders most famous Astrologians. She donated her divination tool to the guild in order to inspire-”
“ This is… my grandfather’s handywork,” it was undeniable. Those engravings, the attention to detail, although worn out and old she could make out the grain on it’s surface from her grandfather’s beloved polishing tool.
“ I.. have never seen such a tool at home,” she spoke softly to herself, reaching out to it, “ Please! Allow me to see this device,” she begged, looking back at Jannequinard.
“ Ah, I’m afraid that this is a rather important starglobe… but if you should like to try one out I can-”
“ I am the granddaughter of Jijiriku Jiku, famed goldsmith and scholar of the Wellwick Wood.” Popola stood her ground, “ Prey, forgive my forwardness, but… I must know if his signature is engraved on this device,” it was unmistakable. It had to be his! Reluctantly, Jannequinard allowed the lalafell to hold the artifact, but only for a moment! Surely enough, there it was. Her face fell, staring at the engraving.
“ Grandfather…” she whispered, tracing his name with gentle fingers over the cool metal. Suddenly, she faltered. Aether pulsed at her head and entire being, a dull pounding like a heartbeat made voices and vision fade before everything fell dark.
“ It’s not right, my love,” Yuyura sighed, looking out into the night sky, holding her husband's hand, “ She’s always had a gift, but… to use it in such a way. I for one know what happens when you dictate your life solely on magical abilities..” she spoke crestfallen.
“*Sigh* It is how she is. Perhaps I was too lenient with her upbringing. I should have worked for a better life for you both.” her husband gently rubbed his thumb over his wife's’ hand. She shook her head, “ Our life together has been wonderful. She’s foolish not to see that. but I suppose when one can see beyond the stars, the wonders in front of you are completely lost.” she sighed. Yuyura was pulled in close, held tightly by her beloved.
“ But father! If we pack up and leave we could have so much more!”
“ Shoshola, please! You’ve upset your mother enough with your arrogance!”
“ tch, It is not arrogant when I can SEE without a doubt how fortunate we will be. It is more arrogant to doubt irrefutable fact and deceive yourself into thinking you are always right.”
“ Oh, of course! Certainly it is I who am deceptive.”
Shoshola took a step back. How could her own father… doubt her!? When she had never been wrong before! When she studied in Sharlayan lands just as he did in all his years before her. She gave up so many futures trying to convince her parents, to aid them. How could they be content living as meager folk in a market!?
“ …. Father,” she steeled her heart, “ We gave up on eachother long ago. Is it not time we end this charade?” she scoffed. Her words cut him deep. He had always believed in his daughter’s premonitions and skills. Her magic was more potent than his own! Just like him, she was blessed with wanderlust, unable to keep to one place for too long. Alas, even with all that she had she was… never satisfied. He worried when she started overcharging for simple fortunes. More so when she took jobs from unsavory folk for coin, then gambling them piss poor. As a grown woman he, and as a mage he had no authority over her, carrying the title of ‘father’ seemed to have meant very little in the past few years.
“ No matter how much I do for you and mother, I am met with only scornful looks and reprimands,” she turned her back to them both.
“ Shoshola, don’t you dare! if you leave now-” Yuyura called, trying to contain herself from her hysterical tears.
“ I will not be confined. “
She feared for her life. Irrationally perhaps, but this had never happened before! How could… she have been wrong? How could she not have seen this coming!? She was all seeing! How had her womb swelled with life and come into the realm without her insight. This creature before her, had the power to evade her vision, had denied the stars prophecy. What sort of creature was capable of this!?
“ We are glad that you finally came to your senses,” Yuyura spoke calmly, placing a hand woven blanket onto her daughter’s lap. “ Jijiriku darling, can you boil some water? Shoshola must be tired after all that work.” the usually nervous woman seemed at peace, walking over to the old cradle.
“ Such a sweet little child,” she smiled, “ And so fair you’d mistake her for our blessed Sultana,” she chuckled gingerly, so proud to have become a grandmother. Shoshola was quiet.
They did not scorn her, or turn her away when she came back home years later, carrying a child. They were only glad tos ee their daughter again. Having heard tale of her travels, and a brief career with the Observatorium in Coerthas they did not care to question what she had done. Only if she was safe and begged her to stay with them, especially as she carried her child to term.
“ It must have been rough,” Jijiriku started the kettle from the other room. The house was small enough to make conversation even in separate rooms. “ Have you decided on a name?” he asked his daughter. Shoshola shook her head.
“ Ah, I suppose you’d like to converse with the stars to find a proper and fitting name,” he smiled. At least her parents were happy now. Looking at the crib, she could not feel the same peace.
”What… is this child?” Shoshola whispered to herself, staring at the small lalafellian child lying quietly in her cradle. “This creature that invaded mine own womb and came to life without my knowledge. Her aura is strong as well. No matter how many times I try, I cannot read her future. I do not know what she will be, who she will be or what she will do. And that she was born from me, I fear most,” The child’s cheeks were flushed pink with muted lavender tufts atop her head. Her features were much softer than Shoshola’s but they were unmistakably mother and child.
“... I am not fit to raise a child,” she sighed, looking off to the side as if this was a cruel, divine prank, “ Nymeia are you punishing me for rivaling you?” she asked cockily. “ Tch, Unlike her divinity, I cannot weave the fates, only see them. But this child… I feel she may be able to surpass even myself,” she glared at the babe, “ Which is too dangerous in the wrong hands.” She had only one choice, at least in her deductive reasoning. A creature with immeasurable potential was not right for the world. Pressing her thumbs to the third eye, in between the babe’s eyebrows, she channeled the Balance constellation, using her own life’s aether to enhance the power of this seal. the room filled with stars, gravity losing its pull as she casted time Dilation upon the seal onto the child, locking her potential within her. As soon as Shoshola finished casting, she felt her chest tighten and fell gracefully to the floor. By the standards of her teachings this was a blasphemous combination to use, but it wasn’t as if Shoshola thought she had to conform to any law. In her arrogance she made-shift a seal, blocking the babe’s flow of aether.
“ Tch, displeased, are you Nymeia? Or is this part of the cruel tapestry you’ve woven my life into?”  she seemed to have cared little, but there was determination in her stone cold eyes. “ Father and Mother are good people. A helpless creature like you will bring them joy,” she said to the infant, getting up and pulling on a cloak. “ they will be pleased to have a second chance to raise the daughter they wanted in the first place,” she whispered, before disappearing  into the night.
“ Popo! Popo!!”
Her vision came back slowly, meeting the familiar and golden gaze followed by a humble chuckle.
“ Were it not for my worry, i could watch  you’re slumbering face for hours. But why don’t we save that for tonight?” Renaud spoke softly, holding his tiny wife in his arms.
“ Madame! You’ve awoken!” Jannequinard fanned himself, “ As soon as you looked upon the globe you fell! For certain it is a beautiful weapon but-” he went on, remounting the weapon on the wall.
Popola was so tired. That echo went on for what seemed a lifetime. She curled up into Renaud’s arms meekly. “ You found me,” her head was still pounding.
“ Don’t I always?” Renaud asked, hugging her just a bit tighter as if he was worried he would loose her again, “ I can’t say I’m pleased to see you fainting before another elezen. I’ll have to try harder,” he joked, making his way to the door.
“... What happened?” he asked, his voice riddled with concern, “ What did you see this time?”
“... My mother.”
