Yeah, yeah. A challenger brand can't afford to sell the category.
At least, that's what I usually say.
You probably know Safelite auto glass. The people who will come to your house to replace a windshield. They're the leader who's top of mind and top of paid search.
So how does a challenger brand elbow its way into car owners' consideration set? With an absurd, attention-getting scenario, a color scheme that's completely different than the category leader, and a sonic branding ear worm.
This is selling windshield replacement in general, not how this challenger is better than the category leader. And in going for the absurdist scenario of driving at top speeds with no windshield at all, they miss out on showing the actual need, the actual "category entry point," which is a cracked windshield.
No matter. I predict that people will remember Auto Glass Now because of these intrusive, fun, memorable, well-branded 15s. (Second spot here.)
Agency: Erich and Kallman. Director: Andrew Laurich.

The Peacock Isn’t Just NBC’s Logo and Streaming Service, It’s Also the Boss
Over the past four decades, NBC has gifted its viewers with some of TV’s most iconic comedy shows. They have gifted viewers with shows like Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld, Parks and Recreation, Saturday Night and Live and most recently The Good Place and Superstore. These shows have been responsible for years of laughter and have been inducted into the comedy hall of fame.
All these shows are still relevant now with the younger consumers still in love with the shows. Unfortunately for NBC, the younger consumers may have only watched the shows on streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. As a result, they don’t necessarily associate the brand with great comedy shows. Well, they are trying to change that with their latest campaign called “Comedy Starts Here”.
About NBC’s “Comedy Starts Here”
The “Comedy Starts Here” campaign is created by creative agency Erich & Kallman. This campaign is aimed at reminding viewers that these well-loved shows first aired on NBC. For this campaign, the network is putting an emphasis on its networks iconic peacock. The peacock acts as the networks logo and name for its upcoming streaming service. This campaign was launched to strategically to help build hype for the launch of its streaming service Peacock. The campaign sees the release of some ads reminding viewers that Comedy starts at NBC. We see the networks star-studded lineup talk about how the Network is responsible for some of the most iconic comedy shows. In one of the ads, the peacock is brought to life and is the centre of the spot. The ad is called “The Peacock Knows Comedy”
About “The Peacock Knows Comedy”
The ad packs in some of the networks celebrity line up. Celebrities like Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Andy Samberg and even Ted Danson, whose career has been bookended by starring roles on NBC’s Cheers in the 1980s and The Good Place are featured. We see the stars take orders from their boss who is the blue, comedic genius peacock. They all talk about how their boss (the peacock) has helped with their shows. The ad will air on all NBC properties, with different versions to span over terrestrial and digital. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw03iKedKfE Read the full article

Former ‘Most Interesting Man in the World’ reveals his hobbies, history, and drink of choice
Jonathan Goldsmith is back and better than ever. (Astral Tequila)
Jonathan Goldsmith, aka Dos Equis’ original “Most Interesting Man in the World,” knows a thing or two about pouring a drink.
The actor and philanthropist is now the new face of Astral Tequila, and he chatted exclusively with Fox News about his favorite aspects of being the world’s “Most Interesting Man,” as well as his go-to drink and his private, off-screen life.
Here’s a few of the more “interesting” things Goldsmith shared.
A post shared by Jonathan Goldsmith (@stay_interesting) on Dec 6, 2017 at 1:12pm PST
He’s a big proponent of Astral Tequila.
“[It] was a natural fit, having worked in the spirits world,” says Goldsmith, who is actually a partner with Davos Brands, which includes Astral. He further believes that Astral’s handcrafted method of producing the tequila results in a uniquely excellent 92-proof.
NEW ZEALANDERS BUILT TINY ISLAND TO AVOID ALCOHOL BAN FOR NEW YEAR’S
He says the company’s controversial Columbus Day ad was misunderstood.
The company’s Columbus Day-themed ad called itself a “reenactment” of the holiday. In it, Goldsmith attempts to meet up with an Indian woman across the bar, but bumps into a woman who appears to be Native American on the way. “That is, pretty much, how it happened,” the actor says at the end. The ad was deemed racially insensitive by sone, but Goldsmith tells Fox News it was supposed to be “tongue in cheek, ” but quickly became a “misunderstood situation,” for which ad agency Erich & Kallman has since apologized.
He doesn’t spend all of his time in the back of a bar.
“I loves the quiet of being outdoors, in nature,” Goldsmith says, like “looking into the woods of my backyard in Vermont.”
FORMER PORN STAR BECOMES FACE OF CHAMPAGNE HOUSE, PROMPTS LAWSUIT FROM FOUNDER’S DESCENDANT
He’s been the president of Vermont’s Make-a-Wish Foundation, and once visited Camp David.
“I most enjoyed that I was able to bring joy and good to the world for people of all ages — something we need more of. I was able to serve as President of Make-A-Wish for Vermont, give commencement speeches at local prep schools, I also spoke at Harvard twice,” Goldsmith said, adding that he “never felt any pressure” when serving as the inagural “Most Interesting Man” for Dos Equis. Another favorite memory is visiting Camp David with President Barack Obama, he said.
A post shared by Jonathan Goldsmith (@stay_interesting) on Jan 11, 2017 at 12:43pm PST
He doesn’t always drink beer. He actually prefers…
“A tequila martini, with olives but no vermouth.”
He could teach a class on being more interesting.
“The most common question that I got through my years as ‘The Most Interesting Man’ was ‘How I can be more interesting?’ [But] to be interesting, you have to be interested,” Goldsmith mused.
“Get away from computer screens, be active in your own life, and participate in the parade of life. You only get one trip, one shot, and it’s a one-way ticket. Make it count.”
