The Summit of the Gods
The Summit of the Gods [trailer]
A photojournalist's obsessive quest for the truth about the first expedition to Mt. Everest leads him to search for an esteemed climber who went missing.
It doesn't happen every day that I get sweaty hands from watching an animated movie. A gripping watch.
Did nothing to change my impression that many extreme climbers have kind of a death wish. Some secret, some not so secret.

Introduction: Count of Monte-Cristo read along
Hi everyone! I somehow fell on this read-along project (through @aporeticelenchus ‘s blog) right after purchasing the audiobook, how uncanny is that? I’ve never done anything like this before, but it sounds like a terribly fun project, so here it goes!
I’m Jules, though you may call me whatever abbreviation of my url you wish to come up with. Enchantée! I’m 19 and study physics and philosophy at university. My main blog is @bruisedlavender, so don’t be surprised if you get followed by this weird aesthetic blog. But since this side-blog is the one where I talk the most, I’ll be posting my thoughts here.
I’m French, and have somehow never read a Dumas book! Shameful, I know. I have however been an immense fan of Victor Hugo for years, and have read most of his books. It is through conversations about him that I was told I’d love Dumas, and chose to get to it.
My favorite novel would be The Man Who Laughs, by Hugo himself (an underrated masterpiece, better than Les Miserables, if you ask me, and I love Les Mis), and to stay in the same French time period I’m also very fond of Baudelaire, Lamartine, and Emile Zola.
Since Dumas wrote in my mother tongue, I won’t be reading any translation, but will be listening to it being read by Eric Herson-Macarel. I find audiobooks perfect for me, since uni gives me a lot of work and I walk everywhere I go.
I really do not know what to expect from this novel, apart from Napoleon, that is! But I’m looking forward to it, as well as this collective experience. Let’s hope I can keep the rhythm, since my finals are starting next months and I’m in the middle of revisions. Yeehee! Let’s go!
