About the pin:

Depicting an order from the Hierarchy of Angels, this pin stems from my piece on the rank of Powers! It takes on a similar composition, albeit simplified to fit the pin format. Pins are available to grab till the end of March.

A finished enamel pin mock up with tentative colors! I plan for the moon to have a pearl effect. I'd like to add some small glow in the dark elements but, it will depend on the cost.

Also here is the line art on its own, for a bit more clarity. I still need to finalize this in Inkscape, where I'll make more fine adjustments. After that I need to find a manu. I thinking of going thorough Catstealers as they have a factory connection. But I'm open to recommendations!

We have been smashing through stretch goals, and have unlocked the Ground Hornbill pin (meaning all 16 pin designs are now available), & the magpie necklace! We are very close to the next stretch goal, our first earring set and then one of my absolute favorites, the turkey vulture pendant!

(Minnie, one of our ambassador vultures enjoying the morning sun. Her wing injury is one of the reasons she is non-releasable and residing with us, but she still has a beautiful wingspan!)

I am especially excited about the turkey vulture, though I admit I of course have a big vulture bias. When I was working on this design I knew I wanted to add sun symbols to the wings, to highlight their connection with the light and the sky. You may have seen vultures outside before, especially in the morning, wings outstretched to greet the sun, a position called the horaltic pose. It allows vultures to warm up and dry off, and is also thought to help sanitize their feathers with UV light. While vultures stand in worship, the morning sun creates thermals; warm, rising masses of buoyant air. The vultures use these to lift effortlessly and soar on their glorious, giant wings, off for the day to search for a meal. With this pendant, I wanted to capture the look of the light as it filters through their feathers on outspread wings; giving the turkey vulture a shifting silver or rich golden hue as they glide through the sky. I hope that these pendants, when worn, can spark lots of conversations about how wonderful vultures are!
