I knew the day was coming…. I could see the social media ads about our local school district’s Kindergarten Round-Up. But I ignored them like they didn’t exist. And then, I couldn’t avoid it even if I tried. I opened my informed delivery email today, and there it was…. Is he your first child?

There is no other heartbreaking question then when someone asks a loss parent if their living children are their first/only. It’s puts us in such an awkward, and uncomfortable position.

How do we answer? How will this person take me saying no then explaining my loss? Do I even bother or should I just say yes he is my only? Do I feel like potentially crying or grieving out loud today?
