Primary Tuesday.

Polls in West Virginia open this morning at 6:30 a.m. and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. Local officials encourage voters to be patient since precautions are in place to protect all involved. W.Va. Secretary of State Mac Warner reported that more than 200,000 absentee ballots have been return to county offices prior to Primary Tuesday.

Bluesfest Postponed.

The founder of the Wheeling Heritage Bluesfest, Bruce Wheeler, officially postponed the event for this August and he will be interviewed on The Watchdog (98.1 FM WKKX and 97.7 FM WVLY.

WLU Goes Virtual.

West Liberty University’s College of Sciences has announced that its regularly scheduled commencement ceremony for graduates in its physician assistant program will now be presented virtually. The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies ceremony will be streamed live on Topper Station (topperstation.com) at 6 p.m., Friday, June 12. President Stephen Greiner and a representative of the Board of Governors will give remarks. COVID-19 Update – Ohio County.

Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department is announcing three (3) new positive COVID-19 case in Ohio County.  Currently, the health department reports 52 positive cases, including one death.  Case surveillance, contact tracing and monitoring continues for many of the reported cases. Ohio County and Ohio Valley residents are advised to limit public contact, implement social distancing, work at home where possible, wear a face covering when out in public or at work, wash your hands frequently and contact your personal physician if you become ill with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.

Special Testing.

The special testing clinics that were held on June 5 & 6 at Laughlin Chapel resulted in 558 tests, including 5 positive results. 

Special Meeting.

A SPECIAL ST. CLAIRSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING has been called for Thursday, June 11, 2020 via TELECONFERENCE, beginning at 7:30pm. The meeting will be called order and immediately enter Executive Session to discuss personnel matters and contract negotiations. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the changes that have been made to Ohio’s Open Meetings Act (which temporarily allows public bodies to conduct meetings and hearings electronically during this state of emergency), the public may participate using the phone number and access code below.
