Reaction to A Very Royal Scandal
IMO, this is not a "hit piece" on Andrew. It actually humanizes both Emily Maitlis and the York family. The juxtaposition of the panorama backstory and the timing of Andrew's NYC "loan" meeting with Sleazy E is worth further investigation.
Over the years, most in this community seem to disagree with my opinion of Virginia Roberts Giuffre as a duplicitous, lying, incredible witness and Sharon Churcher's edited fake "photograph."
Johanna Sjoberg
Unlike Virginia, whose father labeled "a good little actress," Johanna Sjoberg-------the pretty woman from Maine who relocated to Florida for college------is an extremely credible witness. Johanna is now a trained hair stylist and business owner (thanks to Sleazy E's money) who openly admits that her relationship with Sleazy E was "a deal with the devil."
Johanna acknowledged that she was "groomed for it" (she is the young woman who ran out of the massage room saying "f this") but she ultimately agreed to travel to the "island" and willingly participated in the "sex stuff."
Johanna admitted that at first, it was a fun time, and she knew what she was getting into. It wasn't until after Sleazy E was exposed for trafficking "underaged" girls that Johanna cut ties with the financier. All the women around Johanna (including Virgina) were consenting ADULTS. When she asked Sleazy E about the underaged girls, he told Johanna the high school girls lied to him about their real ages. Lest we forget that Virginia Roberts Guifree also worked to recruit underaged girls to service Sleazy E.
Johanna's report about the NYC dinner and the few minutes she and Virginia spent with Andrew (that spitting image doll) and the boob grab is credible-----unlike Virginia's fantastical tales about being led upstairs to have sex with Andrew.
According to Johanna, Andrew didn't know ANY of the (hostesses) women who Ghislaine invited to the NYC post-prison celebrity dinner. I find it interesting that in all of Virginia's interviews, she has never mentioned that the celebrity dinner in his NYC home also included Katie Couric, George Stephanopoulos, and other NYC celebrities and media personalities.
That Photograph
taken at Virginia's request (2001) as a memento for Virginia's mother.
Virginia is pictured in that same outfit on a yacht with Naomi Campbell and Ghislaine on the French Riviera for Naomi's birthday
Virginia traveled to London with her parents permission
Virginia danced with a smelly man who was sweating profusely like a pig. Who was the sweaty, smelly man?
Ghislaine & Virginia went shopping for a party DRESS, handbag, parfums on the morning of her "date" with a prince
En route to Ghislaine's home, Virginia was instructed to have sex with sweaty, smelly Andrew
Virginia claimed they had all just returned to Ghislaine's home after a sweaty dance party at Tramps
Virginia told her parents she met a prince and the Queen of England
Sweat
Many people do in fact suffer from nerve damage: autonomic nervous disorders that can significantly reduces sweating, even in aerobic conditions.
Andrew's friends have confirmed that he does not sweat, even in tropical conditions.
Why is Andrew's shirt dry? Where are the armpit/underarm sweat stains? Where are the discolorations on his pristine dress shirt?
Why isn't Andrew's appearance unkempt & messy? Why isn't his hair wet or unkempt?
Where is Virginia's "fancy dress?"
Tramps would not have allowed a young girl to enter dressed in blue jeans & tshirt
A "victim" does not request a happy photograph for her mother with a gross, smelly client BEFORE their "bath"
Where is Sharon Churcher, (Virginia's "coach") Daily Mail writer?
Talking heads had a fit about Catherine's photo editing (not photoshopping) but they have all remained quiet about the FAKE photo of Andrew with Virginia Roberts Guifree
Who and Where is the sweaty man?
Who did Virginia really meet that resembles Andrew and the Queen of England?
I never knew that Andrew visited Sleazy E at his NYC home to request $100,000 cash for Fergie. ("It was a convenient place to stay.) In any non-royal job, Andrew would have been terminated as soon as he made that ask.
Andrew chose to befriend JE AFTER he served time for his sexual assault and "human trafficking" CONVICTION.
Charles wrongly thinks "Christian Forgiveness" means to allow Andrew (who some view as a human trafficker) to be honored with::
chauffeurs for Easter services
public walks & family seating at events
On parade in front of the world for holidays & special events
If Charles intends to create his own GOSPEL of forgiveness, he will prove his contempt for the service & sacrifice of Christ
Christians are commanded to refrain from giving hearty approval to those who participate in evil
We are explicitly commanded to avoid even the very appearance of evil
Proverbs 13:20 "spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools will suffer; associate with fools and get in trouble; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces; whomever associates with fools will suffer; a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Andrew should be thankful he's not in a prison with Ghislaine Maxwell. He still has a good life and he can do a great deal of good privately helping less fortunate people---- without the honor of being "seen" alongside the BRF. Andrew forfeited those honors (which came with birth) in exchange for good times.
Charles may be tempted to assuage his own guilt and shame by rehabilitating the image of his traitor son and "darling boy."
Actions have consequences, sin has consequences. It seems that blue blood makes Sparry above the law in the American criminal justice system, however it doesn't cleanse him from betraying his country and the Sovereign, Queen of England and Prince Philip.
Sparry's betrayal is beyond public prayers of forgiveness offered by Charles & Camilla: for adultery, open marriages, and remarriage.
IMO the woke Church of England clergy/ employees are a part of the problem. They don't fear God, nor do they reverence and follow the teachings of Christ.
Darling boy forfeited his birthright, and if there were any justice, Sparry wouldn't set foot in the UK without a week or months long stay in the Tower.
When this soho house succubus clawed her way into the BRF, many monarchists speculated that Sparry's "marriage" was the slippery slope towards a Republic.
If Charles is willing to risk the Crown to rehabilitate his darling boy, he will be the BRF's last monarch.

Writing Log #2: Researching Writing Processes
I have so many questions that I would love to ask my favorite writers. However, I wanted to focus on the purpose of writing. More specifically, I wanted to know what writers want their readers to walk away with. Obviously, all writers want as many people as possible to read their work so that their efforts can warrant a return … but what do they want besides that? How do they feel about their books being taught in curriculums? Do they expect anything beyond their readers being amused, horrified, entertained, excited, etc. by the contents? Do they hope that readers will apply the lessons of the writings to their everyday lives? Do they write every book with the intention of teaching readers a lesson? What do writers want?
I decided to examine this question through the eyes of three different authors: Jodi Picoult, J.K. Rowling, and Stephen King. I didn’t select these authors just because they’re massively popular; I selected them because their massive popularity offers a profound look at the question of a writer’s purpose…
Let’s start with, arguably, the most influential of the writers. It has been almost twelve years since the last Harry Potter movie was released in theaters. The last book in the series was published over fifteen years ago. And yet … J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World is still immensely popular. People cannot get enough of this franchise and its influence on pop culture is indescribable. As the world eagerly anticipated the release of the sixth book in the Harry Potter series in 2006, NBC’s Katie Couric sat down with J.K. Rowling to reflect on the success of the franchise. While discussing the security assigned to the protection of the sixth Harry Potter novel, Rowling stated: “Ultimately, what is [Harry Potter]? It’s a kid’s book. Obviously, it’s my life and I’ve worked very hard on it. But fifteen years ago, if someone had said there’ll be guns involved in the book’s protection. I think it’s just - it’s surreal, isn't it?” (Couric, NBC News) Throughout the interview, Rowling deeply reflects on the status of fame that Harry Potter has given her. At one point in the interview, she even recollects being ambushed by a mob of fans asking for autographs outside of the restroom. Rowling is a complicated case in this debate because while she is intimidated by the level of obsession that some show towards her franchise, she also is incredibly appreciative of all that it has given her: “My husband and I looked at where I used to live and it hit me so hard how life had changed. I could see the ghost of myself standing in the window and I wish I could communicate to that person: ‘It’s all going to be okay. You’re working so hard and it will be okay. It will be even more than okay; it will be fabulous.’” Thus, it is reasonable to assume that while Rowling did not write these books with the intention of being swarmed by fans … she is grateful for all that this franchise has given her.
Jodi Picoult, on the other hand, is a different story. As Picoult stated to Powell’s Books’ Jill Owens in 2008: “When I write, I write about the things I’m worried about. Sometimes they’re things I’m worried about as a wife, a mom, or a woman; in [Change of Heart’s] case, it was something I am worried about as an American.” (Owens, Powell’s Books) Picoult’s stories usually revolve around darker subject matters, such as murder and abuse, and encourage readers to put themselves in the shoes of her characters. In Picoult’s words: “You write fiction and you don’t think you’re going to change somebody’s life, but every now and then, you do. I’ve heard from so many teenagers who’ve read The Pact and said, ‘I’m depressed, but I don’t want to wind up like Emily. I’m telling somebody today.’ Or parents who’ve read Nineteen Minutes and then sat down with their kids and said, ‘What’s it like for you at school?’” (Owens, Powell’s Books) Writers often hope that their readers will be able to look beyond the “it’s just a story” lens when they read their books, but Picoult writes in the hope that she will inspire and motivate readers.
Finally, comes the King of Horror himself; Stephen King. Ask anyone on the street to name an author that writes horror books and Stephen King’s name will come out of their mouths 100% of the time. His name is synonymous with bloodcurdling and heart-racing tales … but what is it exactly that King wants from his readers? Although Jill Owens never directly asked him that question when she interviewed him in 2006, King did offer an illuminating insight into his writings. When asked whether there was anything King was too scared to write about, he responded: “If I write about things, then I don’t have to worry about them. Other people pay eighty bucks an hour to go to a shrink. I write these things down and people pay me. It’s great!” (Owens, Powell’s Books) Interestingly enough, King’s therapeutic utilization of narrative macabre is not as uncommon as one would think. Several other horror writers, directors, etc. have also stated that their works are reflections of their deepest fears and sharing those fears with the world was incredibly therapeutic.
Regardless of whether someone’s writing about World War Two, a boy in a magical castle, or a caretaker gone insane … I find the whys, whens, wheres, and hows of writing to be much more fascinating than the actual writings themselves. Asking writers how they get their ideas is great and all … but you can learn so much more about a writer, and writing, when you ask them what they want their readers to take away from their books…

Blood Clots & Traveling: Staying Alive While Living
Every March, I fly to Charlottesville, Virginia to see Dr. Mann, my hematologist, in the Emily Couric Cancer Center because she wants to make sure I’m fine. Because I tell her everything that’s happening in my life, her first question is always about some ridiculous thing she knows I’d do between seeing her. This year, her question was, “Are you still diving off cliffs in the middle of the ocean?” “Not this year. Not yet.” Then we begin the examination.
It was September 2004 and me, Dennis, and Eddie were at a downtown Daytona Beach club, drinking whatever was cheap, and listening to that squeaky box spring intro on “Some Cut” by Trillville, eyeing the room to see whose daughters we’d creep up on in some college boy club grinding motion. Strobe lights were bouncing off the mirror in the not-so-dark club, hiked skirts were being shifted down, hands were mixing with the liquors spilled on the floor, and everyone’s guard was down, vibing with the music. Some even had their eyes closed and I wondered what they were thinking. “On my mama!” one man screamed out, much louder than the song. Without thought, everyone scattered. We knew what always came after that southern war cry. We found out weeks later that bullets hit the ceiling, a few columns and the walls. I made it as far at the curb just outside the entrance before I could no longer breathe. “Y’all keep running,” I told Eddie and Dennis. “I’m so out of shape.” They stayed with me until I could breathe and we walked swiftly to the car. No one died that night.
I flew home to Woodbridge two days later. Walking through the airport, I stopped several times, cursing my lack of cardio in the past. Shauna, my son’s mother, was 8 months pregnant at the time and we lived in a 3rd floor unit. I could barely make it up the stairs. Two weeks passed and in the shower, I couldn’t breathe and thought I was having a panic attack. I stepped out and laid on the floor, naked, thinking, “this is now how I thought I would die. At least let me put my clothes on.” The following day I woke up unable to walk without pain in my groin and blamed it on a possible muscle pull from running during the gunfire. Shauna told me I’d have to go to the doctor the next day if it was worse. I woke up, put my feet on the floor and collapsed. The pain was unbelievable. Cameron picked us up and we went to the hospital.
After telling the doctor why I believed I had pulled a groin, she nodded slowly and said, “Well, we’ll see soon.” She patted my hand as if to say, “this is definitely not a groin pull,” and left me on that cheap gurney in the room with the two people I came with. Always one for jokes, I kept the mood light, and made Shauna promise not to call my very motherly mother, who I knew would jump in the car and make the two-hour drive to Woodbridge. With a half-cocked smile and right-tilted head – the kind that’s always titled to provide an extra cushion of bad news or comfort – she asks, “how long have you been short of breath?” I told her it had been a couple weeks, but it only happened when I was “doing too much.” She said, “You probably should have been dead two weeks ago. You have three clots in your lungs and 13 in your leg, from your ankle to your groin.” Shauna called my mom. Cameron, in true fashion, said “damn,” and I sat there, waiting to find out what it all meant.
They kept me for eight days in that hospital. After release, I spent three weeks trying every pain medication a human could handle until finding that only fentanyl while sitting in a tub of hot water worked. Once the pain was relieved a little, I had to straighten out my leg because the clot behind my knee left me looking like a flamingo. The fourth week found me limping for a few seconds before having to sit to avoid extreme pain. November 22, 2004, I woke up determined to push myself to the limits. I did. I walked down the stairs, around the stores, to the mailbox, and all through the house. Around midnight, I walked into the bathroom and found Shauna on the floor, in labor. I still tell the story about Cameron pushing both of us into the hospital in wheelchairs.
That was the beginning of my blood clot journey due to a protein S deficiency.
I’ve gone through the medications and to the appointments. I hated so much of it, especially having to go in weekly for almost a year to make sure my blood was as thin as it needed to be. Dietary restrictions for a foodie like me are murder. What killed me most was when the doctor told me I wouldn’t be able to travel as much as I wanted because sitting for long periods of time in a cramped space can absolutely cause clotting. “The longer the flight, the more at risk you become.” I remember sitting in a doctor’s office just days before a trip to Hong Kong and listening to him say, “if you get on that plane, you will die.” Like Rachel Green, I canceled my flight.
Traveling, exploring, adventuring, truly living are true passions of mine and the universe decided to throw a wrench. I caught it. It was 2012. I sat my doctors down and demanded that they help me find a way to live the life I want. They were hesitant in the beginning, saying things like, “I think you just have to do less of a lot.” After our apparent standoff, which consisted of me being foolishly defiant, they agreed we could exhaust the possibilities in finding what would work.
I’ve taken almost all the pills someone with my condition would take; Coumadin, Eliquis, Lovenox, Pradaxa, and during the hospital stays, Heparin. Some worked better than others, and one not at all. Mostly, they kept me alive, but they each came with things I didn’t want such as frequent doctor visits, restrictions that would be impossible for me to adhere to. After Eliquis gave me my first experience with anxiety and had me hiding under the covers at home, I called the doctor and told them I could no longer take them. I was traveling through Guatemala and had no other options with me. I developed a pulmonary embolism on that trip, and when I returned to the states, I booked a flight to get to the Charlottesville to have a thorough check. I arrived unable to walk with a straight gait, and they found 16 clots, some new, some old, and some sketchy. This was 2016. This was maybe the 15th time I’ve been hospitalized for a clot. This was the first time they suggested surgery. The pain said “yes.”
I moved to South Africa shortly after surgery, against every doctor’s wish. “How will we monitor you,” they asked. “Do you know any doctors over there?” They only ease I could offer was promising to never miss an appointment, and I didn’t. “You’re young, you’re active, and you’re pretty healthy other than these clots. There’s a medicine I think will work great for you,” my nurse practitioner said. And with that, they sent me on my way with Xarelto.
And here we are in 2019 with once-a-year visits with random phone calls in between, a dope collection of compression socks thanks to friends who know both the struggle and my love for conversation starting socks, and hundreds of thousands of air miles at my disposal. My relationship with my health team is great, and we’re at the point where we can laugh when I answer her “what have you been doing” with “last week, I was in Pamplona running with the bulls.”
We found a way to keep me alive while I’m living. There’s so much more to do, see, taste, and experience. The Inca Trail waits for me like a German Shepherd for his best friend. There’s a cliff in Amoudi Bay, Greece I haven’t yet climbed and there are the waters just below into which I haven’t jumped. So much living to do.
Funny enough, I sat out to write a few tips on how to keep your blood and legs and body in a good space while traveling, and it turned into a story I haven’t shared often and possibly even an ad for Xarelto.
Since you’re here, here are a few tips to keep your blood flowing while traveling:
1. Get you an amazing collection of compression socks and compression tights even. The basketball players are always in what looks like compression tights and I’ve been trying to convince myself to buy a pair. One day soon!
2. When flying, get up every 1 – 2 hours and walk the aisles to get your blood flowing. Stretch your legs a bit.
3. Elevate your legs when you reach your destination and while you sleep. I put mine on the wall.
4. If you’re at risk for blood clots, talk to your doctor prior to traveling. These factors increase the risk: a. Varicose veins b. Pregnancy and the postpartum period c. Hormone Replacement Therapy d. Obesity e. Age 40+ f. Use of contraceptives containing estrogen g. Active cancer and recent cancer treatment
Stay healthy, my friends.

Happy 68th birthday, Camp Latonka!
Happy 68th birthday, Camp Latonka!
Today (Friday, 6/28), The No-Campfire Girls is being promoted on The Fussy Librarian, an e-book website that can be found here:
https://www.thefussylibrarian.com/
Yes, there's a connection! I don't normally ask you--um, more than once a week--to buy our books. But half the proceeds of this novel continue to go toward the effort to support Camp Latonka, the Missouri Girl Scout facility where Emily camped and then worked for many years. It's listed as a young adult adventure, but I think it could be fun for adult readers, too--and at least the cost is fun, at 99 cents on e-book and $5 in paperback.
If you don't want to subscribe,
The No-Campfire Girls
can still be found at the same price at, among other places, here:
http://markrhunter.com/
https://www.amazon.com/Mark-R.-Hunter/e/B0058CL6OO
It's been awhile since I've been able to give Friends of Camp Latonka a donation, and Scout camps continue to get shut down across the country. Please spread the word to everyone you know, especially if you happen to know former Scouts Taylor Swift, Gwyneth Paltrow, Susan Lucci, Abigail Breslin, Dionne Warwick, Katie Couric, Martha Stewart, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Dakota Fanning, Barbara Walters, Venus Williams, and Sheryl Crow. They could probably use a fun read, right?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fifteen year old Beth Hamlin is horrified to discover her beloved summer camp must go without campfires this year, due to the fire hazard from a drought. But Beth isn't one to just sit (or swim, or boat, or horseback) around. When her new cabinmate, Cassidy, claims a local Cherokee can do a rain dance, she jumps into action.
All they have to do is trick the Camp Director into letting Running Creek do the dance, avoid the local bully and a flying arrow or two, and keep from getting caught plotting with Cassidy’s firefighter father on a forbidden cell phone. With luck southern Indiana will get a nice, soaking rain, and Camp Inipi can have proper campfires again.
But when things go horribly wrong, the whole area is endangered by a double disaster. Now Beth and her unit may be the only people who can save not only their camp, but everyone in it.

Book Lovers By Emily Henry (Paperback) Romance Book pages:400 “One of my favorite authors.”—Colleen Hoover An insightful, delightful, instant #1 New York Times bestseller from the author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation. Named a Most Anticipated Book of 2022 by Oprah Daily ∙ Today ∙ Parade ∙ Marie Claire ∙ Bustle ∙ PopSugar ∙ Katie Couric Media ∙ Book Bub ∙ SheReads ∙ Medium ∙ The Washington Post ∙ and more! One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming… Nora Stephens’ life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute. If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves. Gender in Social Media
This week we discussed an array of important topics but the one that I wanted to highlight was gender in social media. Growing up with media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Tik Tok you learn a thing or two about trolls. I know I did with vile comments, death threats in my DMs and bullies passing around my pictures in their group chats. But this week I learned beyond my personal experiences that I am not alone. Watching the Women in the World video featuring Katie Couric, Anita Sarkeesian, Kamala D. Harris, Ashley Judd and Emily Bazelon was a reminder that it doesn’t matter who you are, everyone faces internet trolls. Ashley at one point said I am a human being and so are the people that commit the abuse. And the underlying problem is the dehumanization and the depersonalization of me. I don’t want to commit the same fault by otherizing them, and demonizing them. I do not like the behavior, it is abusive, and at times it seems sociopathic, but I want to love the person. I was a bit taken aback at her response to these people because my reaction to those types of abusive behaviors is to think lowly of them and not be nearly as kind as Ashley. But there is such great truth to those words. We are all humans and I think that means that before we type we need to do better at treating others as humans too. It might take 30 seconds to type a little comment but it could last a lifetime if it is not kind.

Spotlight: Aditi Prakash
Aditi Prakash is a senior at Albemarle High School. Her passion is inspiring kids to pursue education and STEM. Recently, she created a free STEM kit program called Key to Learning, with her co-founder Rimi Kaur. So far they have partnered with the Boys and Girls Club, the Northside Library, and a few local elementary schools who are using their kits in their 3rd/4th grade curriculum. They have created 400 kits so far, and each kit contains the materials for five science experiments that are paired with five science lessons.
Aditi has also been very involved with Tech-Girls, mostly recently as an intern during the 2020 Bio-Med Tech-Girls summer program. In April she received the Emily Couric Leadership Award!
How do you work with technology today? I work with technology through teaching robotics and creating STEM instructional videos! Rimi and I use video editing and are working on animations for our videos.
What drives your interest in technology? What drives my interest in technology are the endless opportunities and curiosity that it brings. I love exploring technology, but I also love the careers and options it can give. I hope to inspire kids to pursue tech and not get discouraged.
What do you remember about your first coding experience? My first coding experience was in my lovely robotics team in 5th grade. We started out pretty simple, we used RobotC to program a robot we built together to dance to the cupid shuffle with us! It was incredibly exciting, and I hope to pass that excitement and joy down to future students.
What was your pathway to working in/studying technology? My pathway into working with tech was through my robotics team - I always loved math and science, but my first true tech/coding experiences were with my team.
Why is it important to get more girls and women interested in technology? It is important to get girls and women interested in technology because the field is missing crucial talent! Every girl who is told she is terrible at science has incredible potential. The more diverse and accepting STEM becomes, the more innovation is possible. In addition, girls deserve access to the careers and opportunities available in technology, and we need to make sure that those opportunities are within reach.
Who inspires you to pursue your passion? My mentors and students inspire me to pursue my passions. Every mentor who happily teaches new skills is opening up a new world to their students, and this inspires me to give back to my community in the same way.
What most excites you about the future of technology? What most excites me about the future of technology is the potential it has to change lives! The quality of life we experience today is entirely thanks to technology and innovation, and there is no telling how much we will improve the world we live in through technology.
What advice would you give to your younger self? The advice I would give my younger self would be to never give up on a project or a new skill before you have given a good number of attempts. So many students are conditioned to believe that their inherent ability is what matters in whether they will be successful in a certain field or not, but this could not be farther from the truth. Persistence and grit is what yields success. This is especially important for discouraged and underrepresented groups in STEM. If we teach students that their effort and persistence is what matters and not 'talent', the world will be a better place.

Patiently Waiting for Ed’s Follow Up Appointment
Patiently Waiting for Ed’s Follow Up Appointment
I sit in the parking deck once again.
Patiently waiting, feeling helpless as Ed goes into UVA Emily Couric Cancer Clinic to have labs drawn and to see the MPN.
As I sit here, I think of how proud I am of him. He is doing this, alone, not in spirit, but, going in alone. We are used to doing this together. More and more these appointments are dreadful because of COVID-19.
Each of us…
