I made a new HTML on my blog, containing various excerpts that should tell you about my characters and their interactions with each other, and developments throughout the timeline.

This was inspired by me goofing around in Homestead where I would use grave markers to write down conversations, but I would get frustrated by character limitations.

So I did this neat little thing called fashion for Embel and Justine so that their color scheme matches that of their noble emblems.

And this is their new portraits.

“It’s hard to explain but…” her eyes locked into Knelson’s, “it feels nice to be around you, to be with someone I can rely on...most of the time, that is.”

“Right.”

“And when I saw you with that girl, flirting with her, part of me wondered if you will leave me in the dark, just like how my father-”

Embel then realized Knelson pulled her into a hug. His warmth could be felt through her.

“I’m not leaving you, okay?”

“Knelson…”

“Shh,” he kept her close, “I’m not going to call it just yet, but regardless of how we both feel, one thing is clear: we’re in this together, and you will not be left behind, I promise.”

One came from a noble background, one grew up on the streets.

One relies on her cunning tactics and strategies to solve problems, one use overwhelming strength to overcome them.

One treats others as nothing but mere tools, one sees allies as comrades and brothers-in-arms.

One lets her past defines who she is, one tries to grow out of it despite hardship along the way.

Embel the Malicious, The Bounty Hunter, Bringer of Despair.

Sasha the Stalwart, The Soldier, Defender of Hope.

Throughout my years of playing Guild Wars 2, I have made quite a lot of looks for my characters. Some of these would later be brought back as their own separate characters. Emmalee was one of them (well, kinda; she was based on my first character's older look with some dyejob redone to make her distinct from her alternate counterpart).

But the thing is, I never really went in depth when it comes to explaining those alter-ego characters, since most of them are tied to multiverse shenanigans which hardly has anything to do with the rest of the characters unless they are the kinds to actively go out of their ways to cause chaos and stuff.

Nevertheless, there are a few who would still remain in a limbo between "fully-fleshed out characters" and "temporary alt that I thought for the luls", and as such, I think they deserve to be pushed towards the former just a little...

Au!Embel (right) has to be the most notable one, given she plays the part of not just being one of the heroes who stand up against Mr.G and the chaos he unleashes upon worlds, but also canonically (to NLGVerse) serves as the Pact Commander of the story, meaning she goes through pretty much the same stuff in the Guild Wars 2 story, and has allies like Braham, Rytlock and the rest of Dragon's Watch by her side.

Au!Nellen (right) also plays an important part, but less because she has an impact in the story, and more because she's the same Nellen that Emmalee (also known as Au!Emilie) fell in love with. The two were in a relationship that didn't last very long due to unwillingness to adapt to each other's need, with Emmalee blaming herself heavily for the breakup. This would result in her spending time in the Mists and eventually landing onto the world her original counterpart resides.

Similarly, Au!Knelson (right) also has a connection to Emmalee (albeit not as significant to her). Originally written to be "dead" in the timeline, I later retconned him based on my RP sessions in EU to be a mercenary trying to redeem himself, much like his original counterpart. This is the father of Emmalee herself, who unlike Emilie, never really reconciled with him, and partly due to her differing personality, would still not consider the idea of doing so if given the chance.

Knelson and Embel in other timeline might also be in a relationship, but due to Embel being the Commander, and Knelson being a shady middle-aged man who is known for his anger issues, I'm not really sure if I should make them like so, as they would be in the original timeline.

You know how villains usually oppose heroes...

But what if there's a villain who works with the heroes ultimately to further their evil?

You work with the heroes, so not only you save your own skin, but you also get to use them and rid of your oppositions while remaining on the "right" side of the history.

You work with the law rather than breaking them so that you can use those laws against those who oppose you.

You are clearly evil and malicious, but no one can do anything about it because you are in a position far above the ones willing to take you down.

If that reminds you of anyone from my roster, that's because it is Embel's character. She's a villain on the "good" side.

So next time she says to you, "Might makes right", now you know what she really means.

Embel: "She's gone."

Knelson: "We left her to die!"

Embel: "I know."

Knelson: "YOU know, of course you do! We could have stood our ground and helped her, but no, we left her to die."

Embel: "Knelson, it was not my decision to make-"

Knelson: "Of course, it wasn't! This whole...thing, it's just an excuse to keep us going, isn't it?!"

Embel: "It's not like that..."

Knelson: "Don't bullshit me. Say it like it is."

Embel: "I...fine. She wanted to die there. She made her last stand, so that we have a reason to go after the ones who would kill her. She was counting on you, Knelson, or rather, your 'flames', as she called it."

Knelson: "My flames?"

Embel: "'His flames would be unstoppable. Flames of vengeance, anger, but also determination, but it may not need be; help him guide his flames to smolder the evil.' That's what she told me."

Knelson: "She was telling you to use me. She was using me. As always."

Embel: "Knelson I'm sorry-"

Knelson: "Forget it. No amount of bickering is going to help us fight what's ahead."

Embel: "But what's after that? Knelson, I broke your trust. Are you okay with that?"

Knelson: "Look. Ever since we first met, it was easy to learn that you were just using me for your own gains. I said to myself, 'never again.' yet here we are, still stuck with each other after all these years."

Embel: "But...you have every right to be upset at me. Why hide all that anger?"

Knelson: "It's not anger... Emilie is out there on her own, and she doesn't need me in her life. You are all that's left for me, and you know that goes double for you."

Embel: "...very well. What's your plan then?"

Knelson: "You're the one who comes up with it, so you tell me."

Embel: "Alright...for starter, we get out of here, then we go after our target."

Knelson: "Simple enough, let's do it. For her."

tfw you realized two of your favorite blorbos ended up resembling fighting game characters, and iconic ones at that.

Knelson is very much like Scorpion (wears yellow, uses fire and stuff, all about rage and vengeance).

Embel is very much like Kazuya (family trauma, condescending, believes in "might makes right").

...and these two are power couples...that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen...but the question is: to whom?
