Decided to doodle an OC for a change!

Here's my darling merboi Pierre! Probably distracted by a sound somewhere or a cool seaweed he's just spotted.

Does Pierre have a backstory? Does he get legs or does he always have a tail?

[Pardon me as I scream for a minute because I always get SO HAPPY when people show interest in my OCs! AAAAAAAAAA-]

Pierre doesn't have a proper backstory yet, but here's some info about him! (and a chibi drawing);

Pierre is a 27-year-old autistic metalhead.

He works as a hairdresser. It's pretty ironic, considering how his own hairstyle looks like...

He's a trans man and currently questioning his sexual/romantic orientation. (He's in the progress of figuring out that he's at least on the asexual spectrum and attracted to men.)

He's tall and tends to have bad posture. His quietness and general looks also make him seem a bit intimidating, but he's very compassionate, cares deeply about other merfolk around him and is passionate about his interests.

Despite of usually being quiet, he loves to talk about plants, algae, metal music and philosophy. He also tends to hum and sing to himself when he feels comfortable.

He doesn't like it when people scream or talk loudly. Ironically, loud music is usually fine (because he can control the volume himself).

About the tail question;

In my OC world, the merfolk are able to switch between a full tail and legs (+ a small tail on their lower back). This transformation can be controlled by owning a tiny magical pearl that's been activated with the blood of the individual merperson who wants to use the pearl for transforming. If the pearl gets lost, the merfolk can easily just buy a new one and get it activated again with their blood. It's a sort of modern fantasy setting!

I haven't drawn a proper pic of Pierre with legs, but here's another OC of mine, Neyr, demonstrating the two forms my merfolk have:

Also fun fact; merfolk tend to buy pearls that are the same color as their eyes are! This is not necessary, but it's more like a custom. So Neyr's pearl is pink and Pierre's pearl is red-ish brown (and I have never drawn him wearing the pearl as I've just realized LMAO)!

Selina is a sensitive girl who loves peace and quiet. She often thinks how nice it would be to be left alone completely, though in reality she wouldn't stand living a day without her close ones.

Santos is a stubborn great white shark, who has been through a lot of stuff, has anger issues and doesn't know when and how to ask for help. However, he always puts the needs of his friends and family first.

Pierre, my OC! 🖤❤️ He may seem creepy and mysterious, especially if you happen to meet him like this, but in reality he's very sweet and would love to tell you about a cool plant he read about.

Etsumi is stubborn, persistent and tries her best to follow reason rather than emotions, so she may seem cold at times. Despite this, she always stands up against injustice. She isn't afraid to get her hands dirty.

Kenii's rather unique sense of humor and painfully honest personality can confuse others and cause a variety of reactions. Because of his neutral expressions and tone of voice, some may have trouble telling if he's being serious.

The mysterious hermit from the kelp forest seems paranoid. When something unusual happens, they easily panic, but somehow always survive. They seem to be prepared for everything they might come across. No one knows their real name.

Etsushi is sensitive, impatient, dramatic and impulsive, but also confident, flirty and supportive. He has a big pink heart full of love, which reacts strongly for both happy and sad things.

Roi is cocky and competitive lamprey merman who's passionate about his hobbies and loves attention. Even though he's (disturbingly) aware of his physical attractiveness, he's not really sure who he is and is afraid of being judged.

Spica is the future Vellamo, which means she will be the ruler of the country one day. She's extremely curious about everything around her.

Ione is extremely romantic. She has a good heart and would love to help everyone, if she could. She hates conflict and tries to avoid it at all costs.

Lemona is moody, insecure and a bit awkward, but loud and talkative when she manages to open her mouth. She has problems with her memory, tends to apologize a lot and is often too nice to others.

Gouvert is a total dork who babbles a lot and is weirdly optimistic about everything and everyone. He doesn't know how to take responsibility of his actions, but makes a loving friend who's always ready to have some fun.
