Finn - Brat, they inspire the worst in each other, to everyone else Elijah Mikaelson is the model of mature and thoughtful, to Finn he was a petty spiteful annoyance, but Finn still feels his absence like a hole in his heart.

Damon - Baby, Eli was his baby before anything else, since both their parents pretty much gave up on him as soon as he was born. 'Dam' his name was Elijah's first word, he never looked for him after he was turned as he didn't want to taint him.

Stefan - Brilliant but so terrifyingly fragile, Stefan spent most of Elijah's illnesses praying since Father wouldn't allow him to be there.
