I was not expected a live-action gender-swap TV show based on Pretty Freakin' Scary to happen, but hey! It might be different than the source, but it looks like it's really pushing the high-energy of the weird premise, and that's awesome!
For those who don't know, "Pretty Freakin' Scary" was originally a series of funny, spooky books for kids written by Chris P Flesh (there's gonna be lots of puns like that), about a young boy named Franklin Ripp (a little inspired by the name "Frankenstein" and the RIP in headstones) who dies... and comes back. He's not "alive" anymore, but he is undead. He's joined by creatures from the underworld, named Pretty and Scary, as he tries to figure out to exist again, do normal-kid-things, and also deal with LOTS of strange situations (that range from amusing, gross, and genuinely horrible).
The TV series has the same basic plot, a kid dying and then coming back, but "Frankie" is now a 14 year old girl, played by Eliana Su'a! Pretty and Scary now have fully human appearances as kids (though they may still have spooky monster forms, we'll see), with Pretty played by Kyan Samuels, and Scary played by Leah Mei Gold! Not much has been shown regarding the way the series will handle the more gruesome aspects of the books, but we all know plenty of media for kids can have fun with scary stuff, and the actors all look like they are very talented! I hope they enjoy playing these characters, and I hope people enjoy this new series~
(also, if you enjoyed stuff like Wendell and Wild, Beetlejuice, the Addams Family, Invader Zim, or the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy- you might like the books Pretty Freakin' Scary too!)

FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW – IN THEATERS August 2, 2019
Tumblr media
(Universal Studios) After eight films that have amassed almost $5 billion worldwide, the Fast & Furious franchise now features its first stand-alone vehicle as Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.
But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless  rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.
During a movie press junket Elba had this to say, “Being asked to be in the franchise in the Fast & Furious world…It’s super exciting to me because it’s one of the most successful franchises in the world. They’ve done well and they suit their audience. The audience loves them. Look, I felt like I’d be a part of something going in a new format from where it is now. Since they were going in a new direction, I could do something that hasn’t been done before.”

Can Idris Elba do anything wrong? Not to most of us and we anxiously await his debut performance in the Fast & Furious release on August 2!
Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action across the globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw cast members/producers Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham; cast members Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Cliff Curtis, Eiza González, Joe Anoa’i, John Tui, Eliana Su’a, Josh Mauga, Lori Pelenise Tuisano; director David Leitch (Deadpool 2); writer/producer Chris Morgan; writer Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, Iron Man 3); producer Hiram Garcia; executive producers Dany Garcia, Kelly McCormick, Ethan Smith, Ainsley Davies and Steven Chasman.
The film is rated PG-13 and tickets are now on sale at all major outlets.
