Nearly a month has passed us by since I was privy to a rare acoustic show by Kiesza at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. And I’m still glowing from the incredible show, and still visiting the footage I took from it constantly, gladly reveling in the resilient, multi-talented Canadian artist’s magnificent voice over and over again. So when news arose of a new song from Rynx on which the Toronto singer songwriter and producer teamed up with Kiesza, I threw my hands up in the air in sheer jubilation. All For You is a retrowave-infused future pop/dance pop hybrid suffused with pulsating beats, lit with blazing hot synths, and overflowing with Kiesza’s vocal effulgence. Kiesza and Rynx make a heavenly union on All For You. According to Kiesza, the two musicians met through a mutual gathering of friends while hanging out at a studio and explaining to everyone how songwriting works. From this brief 20 minutes, this exhilarating anthem was born. Stream/download All For You, here.
I’ve long noticed ages ago that Little Boots, or English singer songwriter and producer Victoria Christina Hesketh, is widely respected on all fronts by her peers. And if you’re at all familiar with her music, or have danced to her live, you probably know why. The incredibly talented artist returns this month with an appropriately named Shadows. It may be a long afternoon on the office, but I’m suddenly craving for a turn on a dark and sweaty dance floor as I bob to the glam disco meets dusky house banger. It’s a guttural pumping yet classy and chic dose of sheer hypnotic euphoria off Little Boots’ next EP. Those of you in San Francisco can dance to the track live come Friday, March 16th, when Little Boots joins Dim Mak vs Popscene at the Rickshaw Stop. Unfortunately, we’ll be in Austin for SXSW at that time. We can only hope that they’ll come back to SF for a second round sometime. You can also stream Shadows via Spotify, here.
