Hulda era una profetisa. Esposa de Salum, guardarropa real del rey Josías, en Jerusalén. Junto a Deborah, y Miriam, hermana de Moisés, es una de las pocas mujeres del Antiguo Testamento con auténtica autoridad.

Es curiosísimo el significado del nombre… Hulda… ¡Comadreja! He intentado mirar este nombre y este animalito por los cuatro costados para poder comprender un poquito el significado y luego poder aplicar; el que más me gustó fue el siguiente…

La comadreja (Mustela nivalis) es un mustélido especializado en alimentarse de pequeños roedores, como los topillos, a los que puede dar caza incluso dentro de sus propias galerías subterráneas, gracias a su diminuto tamaño.

Por otro lado, el pequeño tamaño de este carnívoro lo convierte en presa de depredadores mayores, como el zorro y varias aves rapaces.

Esta peculiar tesitura podría implicar que las comadrejas deben decidir el uso que hacen de los hábitats donde viven en base a dos factores ecológicos determinantes de sus opciones de supervivencia: por un lado, la posibilidad de encontrar abundantes presas de las que alimentarse; y por otro, la facilidad para acceder a refugios adecuados donde ponerse a salvo de sus depredadores.

Conocer la forma en que las comadrejas usan sus hábitats es fundamental para la conservación de la especie, cuyas poblaciones se encuentran actualmente en declive, especialmente cuando ésta puede verse amenaza por las actividades humanas.

En este contexto, es relevante conocer el tamaño de las comadrejas en relación al de sus presas, ya que éste puede ser un factor limitante, tanto para perseguir a los roedores hasta el interior de sus madrigueras, como para usarlas de refugio a la hora de escapar de depredadores mayores, sobre todo en entornos en los que otras formas de refugio son muy escasas.

Me encanta como define la Escritura al rey Josías en 2 Reyes 22……

Tras encontrar, durante las obras de reparación del Templo de Jerusalén el Libro de la Ley, el rey Josías se rasgó las vestiduras, porque, decía, “ha debido de encenderse la ira del Señor contra nosotros, porque nuestros padres no obedecieron las palabras de este libro, haciendo lo que está escrito”. Por eso Josías, con tan sólo 18 años, mandó a varios de sus funcionarios a consultar al Señor. Y estos le dirigieron a la profetisa Hulda….

El mensaje de la profetisa Hulda se divide claramente en dos partes: la primera (2 Re 22: 15-17) declara la palabra de Dios dirigida a la nación judía; la segunda (2 Re 22: 18-20a) declara lo que Dios dice al rey. Ambos mensajes están unidos entre sí gracias a una estructura quiástica:

En el mensaje a la nación, primero cuenta lo que sucederá, y después da el motivo, mientras que en el mensaje al rey primero da el motivo y luego le anuncia lo que le sucederá.

El mensaje a la nación consiste en que el Señor traerá un gran desastre a Jerusalén y a sus habitantes, según “todas las palabras del libro que el rey de Judá ha leído”. El motivo del castigo es que “ellos me han abandonado y han ofrecido sacrificios a otros dioses”.

El mensaje al rey Josías comienza con el motivo: “Porque tu corazón se ha conmovido y te has humillado ante el Señor…”; y sigue con el anuncio: "Haré que te reúnas con tus antepasados… En paz. Tus ojos no verán el desastre que yo traeré a este lugar”.

Existían al menos dos profetas conocidos e importantes en Jerusalén, Jeremías y Sofonías. Se desconoce el motivo por el que los enviados del rey no acudiesen a ellos. En su lugar, el libro de los reyes narra que fueron a donde estaba la profetisa Hulda.

Según la tradición rabínica, Josías se dirigió a Hulda en lugar de a Jeremías porque pensó que las mujeres estaban más inclinadas a la misericordia de lo que lo estaban los hombres, y que por ello la profetisa intercedería a Dios con más facilidad de lo que lo haría Jeremías.

En cambio Lowell K. Handy sugiere que, a la consulta a Dios para confirmar la oportunidad de reparar o reconstruir un templo, era un topos normal en la literatura del Medio Oriente antiguo (como se puede ver en las reformas hechas por los reyes de Babilonia Esarhaddon y Nabónido).

Normalmente, en estas literaturas el rey dirige esta consulta a dioses menores, pero el redactor bíblico no podría haber puesto al santo rey Josías consultando a dioses, así que pone como intermediaria a esta profetisa.

Erhard S. Gerstenberger propone ver a Hulda como una especie de escriba (angehende Schriftgelehrte), a la cual Josías consultaría para interpretar el libro recién encontrado.

Después de haber repasado un poquito en profundidad todo este precioso episodio y a esta mujer tan especial que logró dar la Palabra correcta del Señor, y cambiar el rumbo de todo un pueblo, regreso al presente, y me hago una pregunta ¿dónde están las Huldas de hoy en día?, ¿dónde están las mujeres con una autoridad muy especial?, ¿o es qué sólo la Palabra y los mensajes del Señor pueden venir por parte de la boca de los hombres?

¡Sí, sí, sí! Ya sé que la Palabra de Dios está revelada en la Biblia. Pero en ocasiones especiales…. También hay mujeres muy especiales. ¿Dónde están las Huldas, por favor?

Me encanta que se nombre a la madre de Josías, me encanta la historia de Hulda, contemporánea de Jeremías y Sofonías…… ¡Me encanta esta historia preciosa! Porque son demasiadas las veces que el pueblo de Dios perece… En ocasiones…. Por falta de mujeres como Hulda.

¡Ayúdame Señor a salir de mi cueva cada vez que me necesites y ser por y para ti y mi pueblo, una Hulda muy especial!
