You know that noise cats sometimes make? That little chirrupy squeak? That's Eldore. He is in shock. WHERE ARE HIS CLOTHES. WHERE ARE HIS CLOTHES. WHY IS HE NAKED. First Shard, don't care, HE IS NAKED IN FRONT OF A 'STRANGER' HELP.
He probably wouldn't stop blushing over it for literal years.

If Eldore wasn't the WoL, it would absolutely be his oldest sister Honoria. And the world would probably be a much more orderly place, as she plays politics to win and is a terrifyingly effective Thaumaturge who the order trained for the express purpose of hunting down and killing Necromancers and renegade mages of all kinds. She's the kind of person who could take on Lolorito and win on his terms and Eldore is in turns absolutely ride or die and utterly terrified of her.
She would tame Zenos without lifting so much as a finger.

If your OC is the wol, what would change if they werent the wol?
If your OC isnt the wol, what would change if they were the wol?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#'Plays politics to win' is an understatement#She plays politics to grind her enemies beneath her perfectly turned out heel#The only reason she isn't already in charge of the Syndicate is because she finds the whole thing rather pathetic

Eldore, upon being asked if he enjoys being the Warrior of Light: *long, drawn out borderline broken laughter* What do you think?
He hates it. He hates the pressure. He hates being worshipped. He hates being feared. He hates being known so much. He hates that there's never enough downtime to just explore and learn and do the things he needs to do to keep from losing his mind. He hates that so many people have built an image of him that he could never meet.
And he still wouldn't give it up, because the idea of inflicting it all on someone else sickens him.

Eldore hates formal situations. But since they were expected growing up, the perils of being even the most minor of nobility in Ul'dah, they were where he honed his skills in Malicious Compliance.
Go and talk to people he doesn't like? Fine, but talking doesn't mean talking about anything they care about.
Go dance? Fine, but he sucks at dancing, sorry in advance to his partners. Unless they're jerks, then he'll suck a little more.
Wear the latest fashion? Fine, but he'll wear it badly, it's uncomfortable anyways.
He mastered Malicious Compliance in self-defence. Nothing drives his grandfather more out of his mind than being pissed off at someone doing exactly what he told them to do.
6/5/24
How does your wol(oc) feel in formal situations?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#His sisters rule#His parents are great#Everyone is waiting for his asshole of a grandfather to fucking die already

Eldore has a deep-seated terror of having his aether drained away. He's okay with giving it away, but having it stolen? He has nightmares about it. Frankly they're even worse than his 'Zenos comes back AGAIN' and his 'Light cracking open my soul' nightmares.
It happened to one of his older sisters (Callia, the sixth of the seven) when he was young, as part of a nasty series of moves and counter-moves in the Monetarists against the Sultansworn and the Thaumaturgy Guild. As a family of minor nobles with a long history of being supporters and members of both the Guild and the Order of Nald'Thal, he and his siblings were seen as 'acceptable' collateral damage by one of the more extreme members. A voidsent was unleashed on their household and it was only through their connections to the Thaumaturgists that her life was saved... but her aether never truly recovered. She is a proud alchemist and a ruthless researcher who loves what she does but understandably it traumatised the family.
Needless to say the situation with poor Cocobusi hit him extremely close to home.
(And yes, the idiot who thought unleashing Voidsent in the middle of Ul'dah's noble quarter was quickly found and destroyed on every level possible. Frankly, the fact that he spearheaded the effort is the only reason that Eldore was willing to be a go-between between Lolorito and Nanamo.)

What is something your wol(oc) fears?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#Current known older sisters:#Honoria (Oldest) works for the order of nald'thal hunting necromancers#Melodia (Second oldest) priestess of nald'thal#Gloria (third oldest) teaches healing magic#Callia (second youngest) is an alchemist and researcher

Eldore gives me the same mental vibe that a quiet library does. The scent of paper, the sounds of other people reading and typing and slowly walking through the shelves looking for something that piques their interest, the sense of security and comfort that I've always associated with libraries.
6/2/24
Is there a concept or natural thing you associate with your wol(oc)?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#Eldore is very much a comfort character#I brought him to FFXIV because I thought he would enjoy it in Sharlayan#I was correct

You'd find Eldore in the Temple of Nald'Thal in Ul'dah, in the back half where the Thaumaturge's Guild does most of it's work. His quest, if he had one, would be him asking you to go look for a trainee Thaumaturge who hasn't returned from a task that took them outside the city. Likely it's nothing, but he does worry...

If your wol(oc) was an NPC, where would you find them? Do they give a quest?

For Eldore it's... tolerable. As long as he has access to clean water to wash in. Getting too grimy or dirty is absolute hell on his sensory issues and if someone stops him from being able to fix it he will make it their problem. As Ysayle and Estinien both learned at different points in Heavensward. Tiny autistic boy may be a master of malicious compliance but he will absolutely go straight to malicious if you fuck with his sensory problems.
How does your wol(oc) feel about camping and being outside for long periods of time?

Eldore would wear a nice white suit. It would be a really good white suit, but not over the top. It would be made to be comfortable for him, because he is not spending his wedding day being itchy and feeling like he's being choked.
Simple but stylish would be where he heads. Getting married is for him and his partner, not for anyone else, and they will wear what makes them happy.
6/14/24
What did/would your wol(oc) wear to their wedding?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#Eldore's grandfather would blow a gasket at how simple his wedding would be#But fuck him he's not invited anyway

Apple pie. Eldore always feels better when he has apple pie. One of the cooks made it for his sister Callia when she was recovering from the voidsent attack and he's always associated it with sitting in her room with all his sisters, her finally feeling well enough to eat something, knowing that there was hope. That what had happened to her wasn't the ending that it could so easily have been.
If Eldore makes apple pies, it means he's trying to cheer someone up.

Eldore does it in small warm gestures. A cup of your favourite tea right when you usually start feeling like its tea time. A plate of biscuits on a rough day. Finding a really good book or interesting thing and calling your linkpearl straight away because he knows you'll like it too. Torn clothes repaired without asking. Warm blankets on cold days. All those little things that add up to caring about someone.
5/31/24
How does your wol(oc) say "I love you" without saying "I love you"?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#His parents have a very healthy relationship#So he has a very good model to work off in building his own

Fray is the side of himself that is angry and bitter. Eldore tries so hard to be a nice somft boy, and most is just a nice somft boy, but he represses a lot of his negative emotions because growing up with his grandfather in his life fucking sucked and he learned very early that you Cannot Show Anger To His Grandfather. Anger was pushing back and you don't push back against that man.
Fray is everything he bottled up, coming out in a ...not very healthy expression at first. Things did eventually improve but it took a long time because he was already a mess of anxiety and ptsd and honestly Fray did NOT HELP for a while.
Thankfully Haurchefant is very wise when it comes to this stuff and helped him through a lot of it once he cottoned on to what was going on.
6/11/24
Who is "Fray" to your wol(oc)?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#Haurchefant knows all about suppressing his RAGE#Man has an unexpected angry streak#He channels it into protecting people

I did it again~
This is Eldore Castlethwaite, from a minor noble family in Ul'dah. He became the Warrior of Light accidentally through a series of events that stemmed entirely from him using malicious compliance on his grandfather. (This is what happens when you tell someone to finish Thaumaturgy training as fast as possible and they offer bonus credit for working with the Adventurer's Guild...)
He is autistic and anxious and crowds are the actual worst. Too many people. Too much noise. BAD. NO THANK YOU. Just let him hug his minion and find a quiet corner to hide in, please and thank you.
5/28/24
How does your wol(oc) feel about crowded places?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#He also has seven protective older sisters#Who all came by the Waking Sands at one point or another#To politely threaten terrible consequences if the Scions got him hurt

If the surprise was poorly kept or arranged by, say, Alisaie, who can't keep a secret for peanuts half the time, Eldore would be pleased and a bit shy once he got over the weirdness of it.
If it was a properly kept secret, set up by someone like Thancred? He'd probably have a minor panic attack just before the reveal because he'd be able to tell something was happening that he didn't know about and he has understandable reasons to not handle such things well.
6/17/24
How would your wol(oc) react to a surprise party held for them?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#Honestly it'd be better not to surprise him at all#He has BAD anxiety people

Eldore doesn't. One of the few good things about being the Warrior of Light is that generally when he turns around and walks away, people don't have the nerve to follow him. If all else fails, he'll teleport somewhere else. He doesn't have the time, energy, or shits to deal with assholes.
6/18/24
How does your wol(oc) handle someone that is belligerent?

Eldore's family is mostly amazing. His parents are deeply loving of both each other and their many children. His sisters are a small army of protective wonderful badasses. His cousins escaped the toxic hellpit they were trapped in with his uncle and he adores them.
It's just his goddamn grandfather and uncle who need to fuck off. His grandfather is a sexist domineering prick, his uncle cares more for his money than his own children and takes after the grandfather, and neither are welcome in his house or anywhere the Scions are.
In all seriousness if his grandfather so much as looks at Alphinaud and Alisaie, murder will be done.
6/6/24
what is your wol(oc)'s relationship with their family like? Is their family a found family?
#Eldore Castlethwaite#Warrior of Light#So he has both birth family and found family and he loves#But his grandfather is the kind of person who inspired a shy and retiring autistic youth to master malicious compliance from sheer spite#And that should say everything#There are no words for the pain that man has caused his family
