In his introduction to "The Maker" (El hacedor), Borges reveals a dream he has in all detail shared with Lugones, a sort of inspirational artifice of his. Borges reaches out for several of his sensible obsessions: hypallages (he cares to allude to Lugones's "dry camel" -árido camello-), the best known verse by Virgil (ibant obscuri...), the anonymous, interchangeable character of reality (cf. La escritura del dios). Cuentos. Jorge Luis Borges. Escritor argentino, que bien podría dejar de ser de América Latina y situarse junto a los inmorales. Sus cuentos, de otra realidad, fuera del alcance de nosotros, nos llenan el alma con la magia y la exquisitez de lo eterno. Nadie mejor que Borges para darnos bocados de lo sublime, de la sabiduría, darnos un postre de lo que prueban lis dioses allá en sus moradas. Los mejores cuentos son todos, inclinarse por unos cuantos sería descompletar lo magno.
