#Ekko the boy who shattered time

One of my favorite details from the finale is how three sky tendrils go into the Hexgates to take Vi, Jinx, and Ekko.

But Jinx dodges one of them.

This at first seems like a false victory, since she’s immediately grabbed by Warwick and another one just takes her.

But it’s not a false victory. The one that took Jinx was originally meant for Ekko, who was an unconscious duck at the time.

Because Jinx dodged the first sky tendril, Ekko remained disconnected from Viktor’s hivemind – which as you know, was kind of a major factor in the whole stopping the apocalypse from happening.

It’s this small, short-lived triumphant moment that seemingly doesn’t matter and yet it was essential to Ekko's major triumph in the end.

So yeah, I just really love that detail.

Also, I couldn't resist putting the flash frame of Ekko here, because my god, the art in this show is beyond amazing.

Ekko has a Griffon in this AU, that he rescued from a chembaron when it was just a... chick? Puppy? Well, originally, she was called "Mochi", but I recently changed it to "Sunny", because she's now inspired by my cat who passed away last year.

Just like my Sunny was for me, Ekko's Sunny helps him keep his sanity in check and brings more comforting moments. Despite having that grumpy face, she's full of love to give.

She was the first cat I had in my life... I still miss her so much. She was named "Sunny" because it was a very sunny day when I adopted her (Ekko uses the same logic to name his Sunny).

They didn't just rally the firelights, they rallied the rest of Zaun too. I would have liked to seen all of this, but I really wish we saw that part in particular. Even if was just a montage I would have been happy.

He implies she's worth building something new with, next thing we know he's wearing a more revealing outfit with her signature X doodled all over his body. Good for him!

Also, between this scene and the moment they show up in battle, they've apparently had the time to: - turn her entire lab/hideout into a blimp - cover the whole thing in giant tags of the firelights symbol, her cloud tatoos, and more - rebuild pow pow and fishbones, which were very much broken in act 2 - rally the firelights - cut and dye her hair - crop his top - pierce his ears - sew her a shark hoodie - cover her entire body in crayon drawings - accessorize their outfits - again, turn her lair, a giant airshaft, into a functional blimp

Maybe Ambessa gave her entire army the week off before battle. Maybe Jinx and Ekko were on unfathomable amounts of cocaine. We'll never know

Don't get me wrong, I loved the one we got. Especially since it's more subtly replacing the Jinx & Vi design, but this looks so amazing.

I love the colors. I love how at peace the two look in eachothers arms. I love that they included the blue smoke tattoos and the clockwork design.

as an s2e7 >>>>> proponent, i just want to say how lovely it was that there was a timeline where ekko–who lost almost everything in his life and ended up basically alone in the main timeline–got to have it all while jayce–who basically skated through life on his multiple privileges relative to zaunites and ekko–experienced unadulterated terror and misery by himself.

i cant keep talking about how beautiful and comical the juxtaposition was. it was an unfortunate prodding for personal growth for jayce and it was a well-deserved respite for a boy who deserves it all.

this episode showed how and what these two men experienced to end up saving the world. they weren't the main characters like vi and jinx were intended to be, but these two ended up being the main characters in saving the world.

im so glad we got this episode.

One thing I find crazy about Arcane is that Ekko is the actual hero of the show and we didn't more Ekko, and we didn't get Kendrick Lamar and Mustard to help with the soundtrack. We were fucking cheated.
