Eilis O'Connell at Solomon Fine Art
Last night, I attended the opening of Eilis O'Connell's new exhibition 'Hardware/ Software' at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 D02 T802 beside the Westbury Hotel. The Venue was packed and had a lively atmosphere. It was worth the time and effort to go. Loved the sense of form and line in Eilis' work. Her exhibition will continue on Sat 18th Nov 2023.

When I was exploring ideas for using resin, my original plan was to preserve an old birds nest with a rubber duck inside within the resin (inspired by the resin work of Eilis O'Connell) but that would have been too big and used up too much resin so I had to abandon that idea. I still liked it though as I thought it really worked well for my theme and thought I might see if I could find an alternative to resin to preserve the nest.
I found this cube shaped clear perspex box at home and thought it would be perfect for it. Although it was slightly more difficult to fit the nest into the box as it started to break apart while putting it in, I think it looks really well and the rubber duck hidden in the nest is a nice feature to add to it.
