There are also eidolons napping on the wall. Terry, Garry and Harry. Dion's crafting area is not the most bizarre thing Arthur has seen. xD

Yggdrasil, the Eidolon Roots Warframe
Before making Yggdrasil I fought Eidolons to get inspiration and I tried to capture some of the most important aspects of the hunt in her abilities and weapons. Yggdrasil's acquisition is not RNG-based nor is it a quest reward, instead all four of her blueprints and the blueprints for her signature weapons are purchased from Quill Onkko in Cetus in exchange for Memory Shards, which are dropped by the Eidolons. The Eidolon Teralyst drops 1 Memory Shard on death or 2 if captured. The Gantulyst drops 2 on death or 3 on capture, and the Hydrolyst will drop 3 shards when killed or 4 when captured. Vomvalysts also have a 1% chance to drop a Memory Shard when killed by operator damage. Each of Yggdrasil's blueprints costs 15 Memory Shards and her weapon blueprints cost 20 each.
Health: 450 (550 at rank 30) Shields: 450 (550 at rank 30) Armor: 500 Energy: 175 (225 at rank 30) Sprint Speed: 0.9
Passive: Yggdrasil possesses 200% Overshields capacity, granting her a maximum of 2,400 Overshields, and she starts every mission with maximum overshields.
Ability 1: Sapling, 25 energy. Yggdrasil plants a Sapling in the ground directly in front of her, a tree-like demi-living sentient object which spreads its glowing, translucent roots through all adjoining surfaces to create altered terrain for Yggdrasil's benefit. For the first 6 seconds the Sapling's roots spread outward at a rate of 5 meters per second and then continues to spread at a rate of 0.25 meters per second for the remaining 20 seconds of its duration. -Enemies standing on roots generated by the Sapling have their movement and attack speeds slowed by 40%. -Allies standing on roots regenerate 5 health and 1 energy per second. Healing from Sapling grants shields if health is full but cannot grant overshields. -Nullifier bubbles erase root terrain only where they overlap. The entire root field is only destroyed when the Sapling itself expires or enters the nullifier bubble. -Multiple Saplings can be active at once. -If Yggdrasil does not have any Saplings active she can cast the ability at no energy cost.
Ability 2: Felling, 50 energy. After a short wind-up animation Yggdrasil stomps with supernatural force, releasing a shockwave that propagates at a rate of 6 meters per second for 6 seconds. When the wave passes over an enemy it will deal 750 magnetic damage with a guaranteed magnetic status proc and knock them down, leaving them helpless and vulnerable to melee finisher attacks for 4 seconds. If the enemy falls on roots created by a Sapling the roots will reach up and entangle them, doubling the knockdown's duration.
Ability 3: Thorns, toggled ability, drains 3 energy per second. While Thorns is active the roots created by Saplings become empowered with dangerous energies! -While active enemies standing on roots take 200 radiation damage with 15% status chance per half-second. -While active allies standing on roots gain +250 armor and allies struck by a melee attack will reflect 50% of damage dealt back upon the enemy as pure puncture damage with 25% status chance.
Ability 4: World Tree, 100 energy. This ability must be cast on a Sapling, turning it into a World Tree. Turning a Sapling into a World Tree increases its remaining duration by 10 seconds and empowers it with new abilities. Created World Trees will last until the Sapling it was cast on expires. -World Tree fires a deadly beam at the nearest enemy within 20 meters that deals 200 electric damage with 25% status chance at a rate of 12 ticks per second. This beam links to up to three additional enemies within 10 meters of the original target. The first linked enemy takes 100 damage per tick, the second takes 50, and the third enemy linked to the beam takes 25 damage per tick. -World Tree fires a healing beam at the ally with the most missing health within 20 meters which restores 40 health per second. If all allies within range are at max health this healing beam will heal a random ally for 5 seconds before searching for a new target restoring 20 shields per second and if health and shields are full it will grant overshields at a rate of 10 per second.
Subsumed ability: Felling.
Signature Weapons Nidhogg: Yggdrasil's signature firearm the Nidhogg is a launcher-type primary weapon designed to resemble a flower with two trigger modes. When firing from the hip the Nidhogg uses a charged trigger. Fully-charged hipfire shots deal enormous damage with a generous blast radius at the cost of a slow charging speed. Aiming down sights causes the weapon to open miniature barrels along its body, blooming like a flower and activating lock-on mode, targeting up to 8 enemies within 60 meters by moving the aiming reticle over them to burst-fire a seeking projectile at each target when the trigger is pulled. Lock-on shots have damage identical to an un-charged hipfire but their blast radius is halved. Both firing modes deal mostly impact, moderate puncture, and low slash damage on direct hit and mostly slash, moderate puncture, and low impact in a radial explosion. Both firing modes have above-average crit and status chance. Nidhogg has a large magazine and max ammo supply for a launcher weapon at the cost of a rather slow reload and low fire &charge rate. When wielded by Yggdrasil this weapon's lock-on mode can target up to 10 enemies. Hvergilmir: Yggdrasil's signature greatsword. Despite being categorized as a heavy blade, this piece of hewn Eidolon is more like a giant rectangular club made of tangled roots which glow with ghostly energy. Very high per-hit damage as well as unusually high follow-through and blocking angle for a greatsword-type heavy blade at the cost of very slow attack speed. Deals mostly radiation, moderate impact, and low puncture and slash damage. High critical chance with only average critical multiplier and status chance. As a unique bonus, when Hvergilmir kills an enemy suffering from radiation status procs the enemy explodes dealing 1% of their max health & shields for every rad proc they were suffering from to all enemies within 6 meters as radiation damage. This effect is increased to 1.5% per rad proc when wielded by Yggdrasil.
Closing Notes: I felt like we hadn't gotten a new dedicated point defender warframe in a while and I wanted to use some concepts that had been sitting around for a while like the eidolon roots as a theme and terraforming as a mechanical basis. I gave Yggdrasil an abundance of defensive abilities along with some deadly attacks and even built-in team support. In any mission where you get to plant your ass on a control point she's sure to be a big hit.

EIDOLON TERALYST, GANTULYST, and HYDROLYST
(Due to the nature of the Sentients, some mild Warframe story spoilers may be ahead.)
These are some seriously camera-shy bosses. It's almost impossible to get a good look at the Grand Boss Eidolons, due to their size, speed, and rarity. Fortunately for me, however, the three of them share a body layout, and just get a fresh coat of paint for each subsequent boss fight! Personally, I like the Hydrolyst's color scheme the best, but I'm not nearly good enough to fight it. The giant Eidolons do not disappoint in bizarre geometry, just like their allies. First and foremost, the big obelisk looking thing isn't their "head", it's the glowy jellyfish beneath it, which is a sentence I am honored to get to write. Their whole body is built off of that obelisk's curvature, which gives it the solid feel a raid boss needs. I like the continuation of the rocky and organic textures that make up the majority of the Eidolon's skin - in some places, it's literally made of rock that it salvaged to make itself whole again. The combination of robotics, stonework, and organic frills easily convey the feeling of an amalgam boss (no, not that amalgam, we'll get to them). You can definitely tell this creature isn't put together according to its IKEA handbook, but not in a body-horror way. It's just missing pieces that it lost in a long forgotten battle. I am referencing, of course, the random debris stapled to the Eidolon's arm. The Orokin have a running subtheme of trees and roots as a replacement for wires and computers, so the tree on the Teralyst keeps very close to the existing look and feel of the Orokin. The Gantulyst has a big shard of rock it snagged from a ruin, which just... looks cool, no story implications or anything. The Hydrolyst has some sort of Grineer weapon or digging tool (though there isn't much of a difference with the Grineer). I like that detail specifically showing us that the Sentients as a whole are completely adaptable to any sort of technology. I know I just sort of described the Eidolons here, but there's just so much going on that it's hard to get past any of it without stopping to appreciate how much detail went into the design. I can't say they're my favorite Sentient enemies, but they certainly look the part for being called Grand Bosses.
SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF: 6/10 DESIGN COHESION: 7/10 PHOTO DOCUMENTATION: 1/10 PERSONAL RATING: 7/10

A collection of Eidolon Hunts I never posted. I don’t seem to have a screenshot of the Terry coming out of the lake, so it’s just one of him getting captured.
My clan hasn’t done any hunts in several months, though I did try soloing the Terry a few times (ended up needing help from @cephalonseginus though; thanks again!) so I did at least obtain a few rewards from those hunts. Since I’m posting this post-Fortuna launch, I can say that we’ll probably be trying out the Orb heist once the A-Team has reached Old Mate with Solaris United. So excited!

@operatordevavani and I attempted to capture Gantulyst (we dub him Ganny) as a duo for the very first time. Somehow it was a kill instead of a capture even though we had plenty of charged up lures. Then, when I tried to leave session to avoid the Cetus door bug, the game won’t let me back in because of the damn hotfix. Oh well, I would have been more pissed if it was a capture and I lost everything.

Since I found a few Warframe players/fans recently I figured I'd show off my Revenants!
I colored them after the Eidolon trio (Teryalyst, Gantulyst, and Hydrolyst)

If there was a D loadout I'd color him to resemble the Ropalyst-

Been looking at Mesa builds and tbh it seems I have a choice of using Umbra mods which takes away from useful mod uses or farming Eidolon Gantulysts, something I’ve never done, to get arcanes.
Any advice?

OCtober day 15, just a day late and a dollar short. scream. max screams, the teralyst screams, everyone is screaming
Nights on the Plains are, for the most part, uneventful. The occasional pair of Vomvalysts wander up to the Eidolon Lures deployed at the camps, but smarter Tusk Grineer knew how to ignore them to avoid conflict.
When the Hounds are present, however, it’s anything but uneventful.
Hush takes potshots at Vomvalysts with her Artemis Bow, downright putting them to sleep if they’re finicky enough for her to miss once or twice. Max waits idly with her crafted amp at the ready if any get too close.
The wildlife around them seems to spring to life at the sun’s fall. Crickets, frogs, fish, all sorts of living things rise and sing and jump and live. One of the things Maxis would do is wander down to Gara Toht Lake to chase frog-like critters or to fish for the rarer Norgs; being how comically they appeared, they seemed to be popular in Cetus.
But with the fall of night, meant the rise of the Eidolons.
The Teralyst rises out of a body of water in a brilliant pillar of blue light, sounding off with a ghostly-yet-robotic bellow before wandering aimlessly as it searches for its brethren.
“Listen, if you want to farm Cores, go for it. Just...for the sake of my sanity, and everyone else’s sanity, stay safe. Understood?”
Max gives a salute to Dodge. “Roger that, bud.”
“Stay cloaked, stay hidden, stay out from under the thing’s feet,” Dodge lists off commandments. “If it gets angered, leave. Don’t stay near it.”
“Understood.”
“I mean it.” Dodge stares straight at her. “I would rather you be safe than sorry. It’s not exactly easy to heal wounds caused by a giant, ancient, semi-sentient beast.”
Which leads to where she is now. Hush has herself and Trouvaille cloaked, Max prowls around in the Void safely, distracting Vomvalysts to follow her towards Hush where they’re looted and then quickly dispatched. If done correctly, the Teralyst won’t even notice anything’s happening. It’ll continue wailing, and stomping, and occasionally screeching for the sake of being loud and lonely.
Until company arrives.
Hush urgently taps Maxis’ shoulder to grab her attention.
At first, Max brushes her off.
But Hush is persistent.
“Gods, Hush, wha--” Before something slams into the ground near them, making her yelp and recoil away. Quickly after, three other bodies slam into the ground around the Teralyst. Tenno? On an Eidolon hunt this late? It appeared to be the case. They disengage their Archwing Launchers and immediately step out of their Warframes and begin chipping away at the beast’s shields.
Hush bodily yanks Max away as she screams when one of the Tenno notices she’s there and turns their amp on her. She dodges, but Hush catches her, and begins to run. Trouvaille blasts past them, darting ahead, hiding behind a rocky outcrop.
The Teralyst’s cries grow angered and pained the further away they get. Loud cracks of sniper fire occasionally interrupt, signaling the takedown of a synovia, before the thing screams in agony before stumbling to its feet to attempt to retaliate.
Hush stops behind the outcrop next to Trouvaille, far enough away that they’re not in danger, but still close enough that the ground rumbles beneath them from the Teralyst’s attacks being wrought.
“Maxis?” Dodge’s tinny voice cuts through her panicked thoughts. “I hear a commotion. What’d you do?”
“I didn’t do anything,” she snaps.
“Forgive me for being wary of believing so. What happened, then?”
“A squad of Tenno showed up to capture the Teralyst.”
“That’s what I figured. They raided a few outposts for Lures not too long ago. Are you okay?”
“Yeah. I’m fine.”
“Good. Get your ass back here, now. Odds are they’re planning on bringing out the other two beasts at some point, and I really don’t want you dancing with Gantulysts or Hydrolysts.”
“Understood.” She turns to Hush. “We’ve got to head back. Dodge-man’s orders. Said that they’re probably gonna bring the other ‘lysts out and he makes a good point about not wanting to be near them.”
Hush nods. Trouvaille sneezes.

Success! Today, myself and three other members of my clan - @cephalon-celaeno @cephalonseginus @skaiandestiny - defeated a Gantulyst for the first time!
We rinsed through the Teralyst, so skaiandestiny suggested we go for the Gantulyst. I think we were all a little skeptical at first, but despite the massive challenge, we managed to beat this guy pretty swiftly. It was so fun; we’ve really developed a winning strategy and I can’t think of another group of people I’d rather do these runs with.
Poor Cass...

Feeling this much more now that I have managed to kill a Gantulyst.
Just killing one isn't enough, most eidolon hunters use pieces of Teralysts they kill to summon a significantly larger, more powerful eidolon to kill, almost like it's being sacrificed to bring a greater power. On top of that, you specifically have to capture a Teralyst, not kill them. Keeping a demigod in a shard, that you then sacrifice (exact wording!) to make a bigger demigod
You then kill or capture that one, literally needing more lures to, presumably, capture a bigger soul, and you get Arcanes that you literally cannot get from a Teralyst!
Hunting is even a skill, not all equipment! I've tried to kill a Gantulyst before, and it beat my ass. This time, I had the exact same equipment and I killed it. The only difference was how many eidolons I had killed, and the fact that I knew what to expect from the Gantulyst. That's it!
Very much thinking about how nuts it is that there are builds in Warframe literally called "eidolon-killers". Like, there are these massive, effectively immortal machines(?) just out roaming the plains at night. You know that they were built, or maybe bred?, by a society significantly earlier and likely more advanced than you. Somehow, those guys all died or were killed, but their machines/beasts of burden/warhorses still walk around out there, every night, like nothing's wrong.
Beyond that, these things are powered and protected by power that doesn't quite come from Heaven, but it comes from somewhere in the same place as Heaven. They can't be hurt by any means, they actually have little minions that can be killed, but just stick around as ghosts that continue to attack you. The only way to actually damage them is to get a Tenno, essentially a kid from the same not-Heaven place, and break down the eidolon's barriers. Even after that, it's still ridiculously tough underneath, needing every one of it's main joins broken before actually being able to kill it.
Despite all of this, there are still Tenno out there who practically make it their jobs to kill these demigod-like creatures, to the point where there's a rifle famous for killing eidolons (Rubico). Specifically designed to be radioactive, no less. Thing is, eidolons aren't the only threat, so these hunters, if they aren't comically rich, are probably going to be using that rifle for normal missions, because it's one of their best weapons.
Just imagine if some guy took an elephant rifle modified to punch through a fucking tank without issue, as well as use plutonium rounds, and used it on normal soldiers on a battlefield. That is what happens in Warframe. That is what I do in Warframe.
#warframe#long post#(again)#i really can't get over the fact that this is mostly a learned skill#i will say I had ~100 more damage this time but i didnt think that was worth mentioning#its not much anyway and I had an 8 minute buffer between kill and morning
