Footballers in the Netherlands’ top two divisions will not playduring the first minute of their matches this weekend to draw attention to racism.

It comes after the racial abuse of Excelsior’s Ahmad Mendes Moreira by Den Bosch fans on Sunday.

While players in the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie stand still, the message ‘Racism? Then we don’t play football’ will appear on scoreboards.

An extra minute will be added on to injury time in the first-half.

The abuse of Moreira was condemned by many Dutch international footballers including Lyon forward Memphis Depay, while Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum said the incident “really hit me on a personal level”.

During the Netherlands’ 5-0 over Estonia on Tuesday, Wijnaldum and team-mate Frenkie de Jong pointed to the colour of their skin after the Liverpool star scored the first of his three goals.

Den Bosch have apologised to Moreira for declaring the striker mistook “crow sounds” for racist abuse during the Dutch second division match.

The referee brought the players off after half an hour as a result of the abuse from a section of the home fans.

Dutch football authorities have opened an investigation after the incident.

Johnatan Opoku describes De Graafschap move as a great step in his career

Dutch-forward of Ghanaian descent, Johnatan Opoku has described his transfer to De Graafschap as a great career move as he looks forward to life with the new team.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, the Eerste Divisie side announced that they have completed the signing of the 30-year old striker in the ongoing summer transfer window.

“De Graafschap has reached an agreement with Johnatan Opoku. The 30-year-old midfielder signs a contract for two seasons, the club has an option for an extra season. The footballer, who was born and lives in Zutphen, previously played at Veendam, FC Oss and the last five seasons at VVV Venlo”, a club statement said.

Speaking in his first interview, Johnatan Opoku has shared his joy as he notes that he has fond memories of the home venue of his new club

“De Graafschap is a great step. I used to sit here as a boy in the stands, so know what to expect. It is also easy to travel from Zutphen, I was regularly asked when do you go to De Graafschap. Now it will happen, the feeling is good ”, the attacker said as quoted by the official website of the club.

After excelling for VVV Venlo last season, Johnatan Opoku will be expected to play a key role for De Graafschap next season.

De langverwachte Call of Duty: WWII Private Multiplayer Beta is nu wereldwijd live op PlayStation 4.  Spelers die Call of Duty: WWII voor PS4 pre-orderden bij deelnemende retailers kunnen vanaf nu tot maandag 28 augustus aan de slag in het eerste van twee opeenvolgende testweekenden. Deelnemers aan de Private Multiplayer Beta krijgen een klein voorproefje van wat de Call of Duty: WWII-multiplayer gaat bieden, inclusief enkele van de gevarieerde maps op iconische Tweede Wereldoorlog-locaties, het gloednieuwe Divisions-systeem en de missiegedreven War Mode.
